I'm sorry, but why the "royal" treatment for Jinger from this TV show? Although the end of her train was beautiful, the rest of the gown was nothing special. Looked like a normal crew neck, 3/4 lace sleeve wedding dress to me. No mention of the exquisite fabric that I heard? Isn't it the fabric used that determines "quality" of the gown?
The train was waaaayyy too long for any practicality if you ask me. I also noticed that she wasn't able to button it up for the reception and have those yards of fabric out of the way.
How many more episodes will we have to wait to see derickdillard at the doc? I think it's nothing that we are lead to believe. Nothing associated with his changed appearance, just hype.

Uh, this is their pitch to get us to watch? Really? Like, we've never seen wedding dresses before?

Oh, so after a 3 year hiatus I actually watched last night. My take away: 1) Is Ginger losing her hair? Her messy part to her hair makes me think it's thinning and she's doing this weird hair thing to hide her bald spots :( Hope that's not the case. 2) Anyone else notice that one sister referred to her as "G." I personally think that's hilarious, because obviously the adult daughter's realize the name Ginger should be spelt with a G, not J as selected by the illiterate Dim Bulb and Mullet. 3) So boring, only watched 20 minutes before I turned it off . . . .But am looking forward to Jessa's labor and delivery episode as I'm hoping it takes place at a hospital. I mean if they do, it's proof they have a brain somewhere and the Duggar's can learned from their ways!

I thought the episode was boring since we already saw the wedding. It seems like the show's producers aren't very good. Isn't the oldest trick it the book to tease something and then make the viewer wait until after the commercial, or until the next episode. Soap operas have been doing this forever. Reality shows at least make you wait at least until after the commercial break. I can't figure out why the producers would think that they would get high numbers of people tuning in to see this when we have already seen the wedding. The search for Jinger's dress isn't compelling.

More interesting are Joy's path to courtship (who is this guy!?!?)? We have never heard one word about he or his family.

What do the older boys do all day to enhance their lives? What skills are they learning, what are their interests?

What in the world do Ben and Derick do all day? How do they support their growing families?

What about the building that Jana "bought"?

Rehashing a wedding that we have already seen isn't going to pique anyone's interest.

typesettergirl said...

I agree InVA, who is this guy Joy is dating. Saying the Duggars have know him since Joy was 3 but never mentioning that family? We saw the Kellers at ATI camp and Marjorie's family but not his. As long as the 19KAC was on there should be a snippet at least.

Jinger said'this is the day I've waited for this day my whole life' and 'I just want to get married'
If one translates from Duggar to English we have:

'I have waited my whole life to be transferred from one stick Billy egomaniac control freak to another 'man to God' who set rules for how his 'congregation' shall live and demands I dress like Jesus and move to desolate border town away from my family'
And 'I have no other goals in life but to be another man's slave'
To be cont'd......
If we translate Jill into English we have
'Either he initiates or you initiates' into
'Take it from your big sister, this isn't about romance or physical bonding. You're about to get the big one, its all business from here. Prepare for your life of rote availability by your conqueror'

How much can TLC keep repeating the same story.....Jill & Jessa are expecting, Jinger's wedding, Joy is getting married so yet another buying a wedding dress episode. Hello TLC, we've seen it all so many times. No episodes can beat Anna having that toilet birth and Jimbob giving Josh a birds & bees talk on his wedding eve when the porno watching boy knew it all and more and hypocrite Jimbob knew Josh molested his sisters.

Arlene jackson said...

Joy is being used by the fathers to enhance their money making schemes. TLC pays for yet another wedding episode and her prospective father in law gets a new slave and more publicity for his campground.

Asking? said...

What about the building Jinger bought??

Willow said...

Joy's boyfriend Austin has been on the show before, just a little. His family owns Camp Rock and it has been featured on the show a few times over the years. Jim Bob took his daughters and the Query girls to the camp in one of the first couple of years. They have mentioned it a few times since. Not much about the actual Forsyth family though, that I remember. I am also anxious to see more about Joy, Jana and the boys at this point. The problem is that the boys have rather boring personalities, compared to the girls. I mean, none of them are Lawson or Nathan Bates (or any of the Bates boys for that matter). LOL.

I don't even think the sisters are interested in the weddings anymore. Everyone looked bored to tears while dress shopping. Jinger could have easily done that on her own. Also, Michelle was a complete space cadet. Jinger asked her to come help in the dressing room and Jill had to (almost forcefully) tell Michelle to go with her. Michelle, was like "Who me?!"
A few weeks ago, there was talk on here about Jeremy's sermon about the fact that women do not HAVE to wear skirts to be modest or feminine. I am wondering if they have been debating that subject at home and that was his final answer for me. I am hoping that Jeremy and his family are prepared to help Jinger deal with leaving a cult. She will have a true adjustment as she moves to TX and away from it all.

five eighths said...

Willow, do you think Joy has been secretly "betrothed" to Austin for years, kind of like Josh was "betrothed" to some girl from their church when he was 14? In other word, some creepy arrangement between the fathers of the couples?

laura said...

Oops forgot to add
Jessa: Jeremy is stealing jinger

Translation: 'my sister's new rightful owner and master is unduly taking any and all future aid she should rightfully be giving ME for MY housework and MY babies, who gives a crap about what jinger needs or wants'
Her transparency is not surprising

Enough Already said...

Several observations about this episode. Michelle's shoes. She look like she is fresh off the Mayflower! Jinger & Jessa's little advice on fashion! OMG no one in this family has any style. Derek is obviously ill. Don't show us the vomiting clip without telling us what's wrong.

A 'wandering' mind is wondering.... said...

Is anyone, anywhere seeing Jinger? Was there a write up in his parents local newspaper or where he is a pastor?

Captain Crunch said...

Everytime they call her 'Jing' it makes me complete the word with 'ja-vitus'. Gingivitis. Lol..

Why oh why? said...

So Michelle looked somewhat decent when they left the house, couldn't see her legs or feet so she may have had on the tights and brogans. What happened to the fitted jacket and somewhat modern skirt?????

Could the designer have been any more weird? When she was talking to Jinger she was looking at her in the mirror rather than turning to look at her. Strange...

LilBit0318 said...

Ok...Am I the only one who got irrationally upset about the fact that, at the painting place, Jill and Michelle both dotted the "I"s on their nametags with little hearts? Ugh...We always say they've got the mentality of 12-year-olds, and there's visible proof right there!

Jak&Jil said...

The first thing I noticed in this episode was how horribly long all the girls' hair (including Michelle's) is. There is nothing pretty about their hair. And Jinger's was the worst. It was so messy looking with a messy side part.

The girls' clothes are so shabby looking. When they were at the salon, Jeremy's mother totally stood out with her tasteful dress and shoes. Like others have mentioned, maybe her mother-in-law will take Jinger clothes shopping for a decent wardrobe.

I'm wondering if Michelle isn't really Amish. All she is missing is the little Amish bonnet.

Then there was the dress designer. I really wanted someone to give her a Xanax to calm her down. I literally had an anxiety attack watching her.

Michelle, Jinger and "Miss Renee" all talk like babies. That sick-y sweet sing song ridiculousness. They have nothing to say so they squeal and coo and ooo and ahhh and giggle like school girls. JInger, poor girl, knows nothing about anything. She can't think for herself, has no opinion but what her sisters give her, no personal ambition of any kind.

Taryn said...

Jill talks like a little girl as her silly comments fall out of her mouth, yet she doesn't get it.

Joy, too, has that little girl way of talking.

I appreciate that Jana and Jessa don't copy Michelle's fake voice.

Enough Already said...

I am rolling on the ground laughing at your post. I had totally forgotten that talk JimBob gave Josh about how it's all just like "Lego's"! You're so right about the porno loving, sister molesting, guy already had all the facts he needed for his wedding night!

Heart in Florida said...

Enough Already: I would think that it was highly unethical for Jim Bob to knowingly do the Josh "pre-wedding Lego scene" with the knowledge that he had about Josh's earlier activities. This family has proven to me that they ARE fame whores, out for the money and blatantly dishonest with the public when it suits them. They are frauds.

Marnie said...

Oh no.....Jimbob said it was just like Legos? I'm laughing but also feel weirded out. What a strange thing to say to a supposedly innocent boy's on the wedding eve..So Josh can say, relax Anna, dad says it's like Lego's, LOL

Just Wondering said...

Tonight I watched the episode of the "Jinger Gown." They showed a short piece of Jessa announcing that she was expecting at the beginning of the show. Am I wrong or was that Josh standing in front of the fireplace when she made her announcement?. Anna was sitting in a chair beside the fireplace holding a baby, I guess Meredith in her lap? I won't take any offence if I am wrong but this is what I was sure I saw.

Just Wondering said...

I mentioned that I thought it was Josh in front of the fireplace while Jessa was announcing her second pregnancy. Just wanted to say he was wearing a blue shirt. Also why in the world did Derick & Ben have to go along on the dress shopping trip? If they were going to mind the babies while the women went on a shopping trip, why didn't they mind them at home in their own houses where they would be comfortable, not tired & crying. Also does it seem to anyone else that Joy is getting quite bossy? She had a lot to say about the gown Jinger was picking out & then immediately said, with a train that long & Jessa so pregnant, Jana would need to take care of the train. At least Jana answered back that she thought all of them would need to help out.

Just Ridiculous said...

All these things I'm thinking of namely, no way did Jinger & Michelle do that painting of a perfect backdrop of the New York skyline. There was so much advertising on that episode, Jinger absolutely received that dress for free. Jeremy's mom looked lovely especially her hair. As a matter of fact both Jeremy's mom & dad looked very nice. Couldn't find anything to complain about how they dressed. She is lovely & he is distinguished. Jinger will be fortunate if Jeremy turns out like his dad. I don't think his mom will let the Duggars take over any grandchildren. I got the impression that they feel they are just as much involved as any Duggars are. Those girls need haircut badly. I'm so sick of this business of a woman's hair being her "crowning glory." If & when they arrive at the Pearly Gates, St Peter won't know who they are with all that hair hanging in their faces.

Susie said...

I will watch when they trim back all of that ugly hair!!

It is awful!

Carla said...

Jill and Derrick both need a haircut intervention. Imagine what he looks like when his manbun is undone!!

Getting Worse said...

RE: Enough Already's comment about showing Jeremy vomiting. I personally don't think they need to show that piece of film anyway, whether or not they say what's wrong with him. They can simply say he is ill & has been either vomiting or sick to his stomach without showing him upchucking. I think Jill & Derick are looking for a little bit more attention, since Jessa is getting all the attention.

Aunt Bea said...

Carla, if you'd like the pleasure of seeing Derick with his hair let down "free", please go to the Duggar's family website. There is a shocking photo of derickdillard with a too small cowboy hat on with his hair flowing "freely". It was shocking to me how bad this man looks. I'm not being mean here, but his face has changed, his eyes look sunken and not healthy at all. His hair is so unbecoming on him, how could HE not see it? Shocking to me, just shocking how bad he looks and he's unkempt too, (which he has a choice in).

Ruby said...

Aunt Bea, Derick clearly needs a job. He has too much time on his hands and is now acting out in some sort of bizarre way. Is he angry that he is "trapped" in Jim Bob's cult-like web of biblical ignorance and arrogant stupidity or literally trapped with clingy Jill Muffin who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown at the possibility of going back "overseas"? Has he turned into a lazy bum who is hiding on the Duggar compound because it is an easy way out of almost every responsibility--work, ministry, home ownership, childcare, housework, cooking, yard work?? I am actually leaning towards the second option.

Carla said...

Aunt Bea, Yes, found Dillard with his greasy looking hair hanging down. That guy needs a shave, shampoo, long soaking bath, good meal and a job. Where is that nice man with a job of only 2 years ago? THat downward spiral is moving tooooo quickly.

Heart in Florida said...

The fact is that Derick isn't trapped at all. He has the "key out" of this insanity in his bachelor's degree. He has a real education and can use it if he chooses and live a nice, real life with his clingy wife and perhaps normally sized family. He chooses not to do so. Why I don't know. What is wrong with his mother and brother? Why don't they advise him?

Jane Purcell said...

The weddings are beginning to feel like Duggar Groundhog Day. Every time one of the girls tries on a dress we get to hear how 'incredible' it is and how 'amazing' she feels, indeed, 'like a princess!'. 'I just can't believe Jill/Jessa/Jinger is getting married,' says Jill/Jessa/Jinger/Joy. And come the wedding day, we'll have Michelle saying in a surprised tone: 'We're giving our daughter away!' (she tends not to mention them by name - they're pretty interchangeable anyway) followed by: 'Dad will probably tear up!' and 'It's a happy day but a little bit sad too.' JimBlob will clump into the room and declare: 'You're so beautiful!' Someone else will hilariously affirm that they're 'an hour behind schedule!' (Those crazeeee Duggars!) Then Michelle and her crispy won ton hair will appear to light the candles, the infernal piano will strike up and off we go.

JeannieBean said...

Re: Heart in Florida's comment that Derick has the key out of the insanity with his bachelor's degree and a real education...
Does he though? Do we know for a fact that he has an actual bachelor's degree or is it just another over embellished "achievement" like Jana the concert pianist? We've been told he went to university, but did he actually complete the courses? We know that he worked for Walmart for a bit "in accounting" but in what capacity? Just because someone works in accounting doesn't always mean that they've got credentials.

I ask these questions in all seriousness.

Heart in Florida said...

JennieBean: I believe Derick's college credentials were on his LinkedIn site. They also have indicated that he graduated from the university and does have a real Bachelor's Degree. Of course, the Duggar family holds NO RESPECT for this accomplishment.

Elizabeth Ann said...

Derrick is happy the way he is, collecting some donations for a fake ministry, living free in Jimbob's mansion of a guest house and playing cowboy this week. What will it be next week, Indian feathers in his long hair?? Who needs a job or college degree when you can live free so and easy with a girl/wife trained to be available any time of the day or night.

Kristine said...

Isn't it about time we saw Joy be sent by TLC to the big city to pick out her free wedding dress? Seems like we've seen this before but will Joy be a bossy bridezilla? How dare the guests even think of refreshments but they better give a nice big wedding gift to her after traveling for miles to witness this most likely outdoor campground wedding. I feel that controlling father in law will take charge of her and we will see a more subdued pregnant girl
in the future, giving birth at the campground with father in law in charge.

laura said...

Jim Bob must have calculated the Derick would be easily moldable.
It seems strange that he would want an educated person around his carefully isolated daughters.
Also I saw the diploma in the wall for my BIL bachelor degree. When I went to congratulate him he told me he did fine arts at a no name college and they didn't have anymore to award that year.
So he has a B.S. degree and does not have that education.
Details on Derick would be good. Does he have a framed diploma in the wall?
Does he speak to Jill about things she has no idea about.
Does John David have an accountability partner when he is up in the plane?
If one of the boys is really studying for his real estate license how, like some above asked about Jana, will JB maneuver the accountability partner thing?
Is this what they wanted for their kids? To be uneducated, unemployed with lazy, weak-minded spouses who beg for money, live off others and 'preach' to others about the 'right' way to live?
In any other type of family kids having kids in this situation would be HIGHLY disapproved of and very unwise. The Duggar family safety net is no excuse. Only the fact that they are a cult makes it okay for THEM.
Just can't wrap my mind around these people.
And yes, they still do have fans and defenders.
Also watched a bit of the photo taking before jingers wedding ceremony. Jessa and her literally big mouth and the way she spoke was just so annoying and she seemed a little bored with it all.
She also seems smaller in the side by side pic she did of the 1st and 2nd pregnancy. Maybe that will help things go off a little easier since they don't always act with common sense I.e. Go to the hospital after a difficult first birth.

just my opinion said...

re: real estate licenses. In an earlier show, it was mentioned that Jim Bob & Michelle have theirs too. I doubt that they act as an agent for other buyers/sellers - instead, I think they act as their own agent when buying investment properties - and save the real estate commission.

Eloise said...

The accountability partner rules can get confusing!! Does John have one when he works on the land clearing machinery? Could be some country girl is hiding in the woods ready to lure him .

Aunt Bea said...

I have suspected for a long time now that the only reason Michelle was initially told to get her own real estate license is so that they can view and purchase real estate and act as their own realtor and save real estate commissions for another realtor. These two defraud many merchants, laborers and professionals with their slick actions. I think they're the worst of the lot.

Vilente said...

I wonder how Michelle did get her real estate license as she had to attend classes and show up for testing where men were present. Was Jimbob not fearful she would be "defauded " by wild men in her real estate class and while they were testing??

Arkie said...

how Michelle did get her real estate license as she had to attend classes and show up for testing where men were present

She got her license when they were "normal" Christians, before they were sucked into the Gothard cult. She also used to (occasionally) go out on towing calls by herself, if I recall correctly (and if she can be believed). They lived a relatively normal life until after her first miscarriage and JB's attendance at one of the Jim Sammons seminars.

Good gravy said...

Little bitty Michelle went on tow truck calls? When was this, when Jim Bob was stocking shelves at the grocery store?

Good grief.

I know she wasn't always required to wear those ugly thrift store rejects butI still imagine her out there bending over to hook up everything while wearing that get up and ol' lazy, her husband back at the Piggly Wiggly slowly stacking cans of stewed
tomatoes.

Tatiana L. said...

No, I cannot imagine Michelle handling a tow truck and talking to strangers all by herself. No real man would want his young little wife to handle a dangerous tow truck operation on her own. I can't believe it, especially Michelle who probably now needs an accountability partner when she leaves the compound.
