The reality of Anna is that she hadn't met the guy she married until last year. She thought she was married to someone else. Josh should be a stranger to her after learning about his "Joshley Madison" actions. She claimed she knew about his molestation issues but he still was leading a side line life while married to her. How in the world could she let him in her bed, let alone conceive another child with this guy is beyond me and revolting to think about. This is one of many reasons that I don't want to see either one of them on the show. The family can post what they want to on their websites, it's their sites, but to have to see and hear either of them.....NO, thank you.

Very true Emma, and you know they could do all those things. They could do so much good in the world, they could really change lives, possibly save lives in the third world. They have the opportunity and means to LIVE the Gospel. They just choose not to.

LOL Mickey. Jessa's midwife training could help a child who fell down. Pulling a baby out of a sister doesn't give you a medical degree but when was she ever a midwife to do that? Jill had a C-section and the entire crew was present when Anna had the baby in the toilet. I guess Anna means Jessa's own children. Okay, that makes Jessa a true medical professional. Simply another case of the Duggars delusions...claiming to be accomplished in various professions when in fact they do nothing and have no real education but claim to have a oncert pianist, photographer, film maker, midwife, musical conductor and so on.

Yes! I would've watched Mancy Grace interview him on pay per view.

"Its Jill and Dericks anniversary so of course mom and pops posted the compulsory fan message of congratulations. Apparently the Dillards make a dynamic couple, I kid ye not they used the word dynamic, and with straight faces."

"Dynamic" must be the newest word in their extremely limited grasp of the English language. More than likely, Jeremy said the word first and they thought it was an interesting word to teach at the dining room table. Is there anyone teaching the kids now that the live-in tutor Tabby Paine and most of the sister-moms have moved on to baby-making?

Wondering said...

I thought it was Jill that was a midwife not Jessa.

What a life said...

I agree with heart in Florida that I don't want to see either Josh or Anna on the show. Anna has nothing to offer except the next baby. I'm not educated in these matters but I was surprised when Anna asked Jessa to watch her kids, while she nursed the baby. I didn't know you could nurse a child while you were pregnant. So they not only go from one pregnancy to another, they never stop nursing either. What life.

Must be nice to be wealthy enough, from donations of hardworking people, for Jillymuffin and her babe Derrick to go on a babymoon to a B & B, eating in restaurants and then touring a cave. They are total scam artists, both of them. Why isn't Dillard doing some accounting work, using his education to support his family? Guess the Lord told him to take Jill on a trip. This con artist begs for donation expense money from their die hard fans and he is set for holidays, restaurants and tourist attractions. How anyone can be donating to this grifter couple is beyond me. They are already living in the McMansion, free of charge and having the kids who should be in school do their cleaning chores. I feel soon Jeremy & Jessa will be begging for money for their mission in Laredo. Anyway, Jeremy doesn't really work either, just hangs around writing a sermon once a week for his tiny congregation, plenty of time for a full time job. Ben doesn't do anything and is getting away with it now as no one expects him to do anything but babysit. If there is a home improvement issue, they call Jana. These people, if they really had "servants hearts" would be working to help the less fortunate in their area in so many ways.

Jamie C: I believe that Laura is the new 'tutor', but they haven't come out and announced it YET. In keeping with Arkansas state homeschooling guidelines, the teaching MUST be done by the parent...we all know Michelle gave it up years ago, so they get around the guidelines by calling the real teacher a "tutor". Yes, they are good liars, aren't they.

I get their names all confused. No doubt, she is a "competent" midwife like I am an attorney, I mean, I watch "Law and Order", all the time.

I find it shocking news that Anna is pregnant and nursing. Why isn't the child weaned by now so she can concentrate on baby #5? Once the baby is born, will she'll be nursing both of them at the same time? SHe knows nothing but being a baby machine and milk dispenser plus being joyfully available to Josh to keep him from cheating. What a live, I agree.

dinda said...

I don't see how Anna can handle what is on her plate now and it's only going to get worse for her. I'm wondering why Josh is not working but hanging out in a thrift store with the sisters he molested. Don't they all feel uncomfortable, especially Anna? It must be very emotionally and physically exhausting for Anna to deal with being a good housewife & a constant child bearer & nurser plus obeying the Gothard demand of being flat on her back (or whatever kinky Josh wants) for her husband, with a smile on her face. This girl needs a break from it all. If she has a breakdown, she will be made to feel guilty, like she most likely does about Ashley Madison scandal.

Dusty said...

Doubt Jimbob & Michelle know the definition of dynamic or even they wouldn't use it to describe the useless grifters.

What state Do You live in?? Here they don't test once a year. In fact my kids have never had the testing done. Well my oldest in 1st grade. But they dropped that program and now if the teacher notices that hearing or sight may not be correct they call asking you to make an appt with which ever Dr.
..i remember growing up in Oklahoma them testing in 1st grade. Not sure if they do it now there either, considering they are cutting programs left and right. And with teacher pay being less than what a full time worker at 711 makes.

Dana Altondddddd said...

Anna had a chance to free herself from this life of hellish servitude, instead got herself pregnant with #5. There's no way she can home school the children and take care of all the household duties, birth about 10 more babies plus deal with Josh's demands all the while having his live hurt deep in her heart.

Here is the alleged cosmotology program Josie Bates is taking. Click on Fall Semester for the next round. It includes Creation Science and Baptist History What do they have to do with cosmetology? Alo, ssh isn't even 18 until August and has been in college for a while. It makes me wonder about their education, too.

In thinking of the lawsuit, it's too bad the state can't turn around and sue Jim Holt and the trooper they visited. They were mandated reporters. The trooper is in jail on child porn charges, but he still failed to report.
Many legal experts think they don't have a leg to stand on.

i really wonder how josh is supporting his family? if he gets no money from the show and everyone in that town knows about him how could he possible get a job? I hope anna is not that dumb and gets her self any more kids after this one? I am pretty sure Jessa will have another one by the end of this year or next. maybe some on jinger will rub on her sister and not have any more kids.

Andrea said...

" I hope anna is not that dumb and gets her self any more kids after this one?" 100% certain Anna will have at least one or two more. The girl had her opening when the scandal broke and yet she choose to get pregnant again. She's in for life. I feel really badly for their children. That cannot be a healthy family relationship.

It seems time for some reminders due to the number of rejected comments recently. Anonymous comments aren't approved, profanity is not allowed, and do not try to tell other people, what to think, feel, or do. Included in that is pleas to not watch. While I support the sentiment, it is still not allowed.

Re: lisa mcgingess....
Josh and Anna get money from Anna's appearances on the show. It was a sneaky way that TLC and Jim Bob kept Josh on the payroll. Josh also sells used cars in the area. He probably has enough Christian folk coming from all directions to buy from him.

Lisa J said...

Josh and Anna are probably living free in one of Jimbob's houses so they don't have housing expenses. We could all live quite cheaply if there was no rent or mortgage, home owners insurance or taxes to pay every month and did shopping in thrift stores for household items and clothing and wore used flip flops. Also, there are few expenses with the children since they do not belong to sports or any social groups and probably never get yearly check ups at the doctors as most children do. All Josh has to pay for is cheap food, utilities (if daddy doesn't pay for that too) and fuel for one of his used cars off the lot that he's been shown to use. He probably gets a nice chunk of IRS money back every year to live off of considering all those kids and expense write offs from his work. Of course, Anna's pay from appearances on TLC must be handed over to her headship so think about.....they could be doing quite well financially.

Hannah K said...

I predict Anna will have as many more babies as possible with Josh, at least 10 more before she hits her "change of seasons" in her late 40's. It's her duty to the Gothard cult way of life. Jimbob was lucky to get TLC to finance his family and control the money but Josh will not have that situation. How poor with they be 15 years down the road with all those hungry mouths to feed? Anna has been brainwashed since she was born and knows no other way of life other then to be subservient to a headship, be it her father or her cheating husband. The fact she got pregnant while Josh's cheating was fresh in her mind and the crazy fact that she is still suckling her last baby while she is about to give birth to the next shows she has not a mind of her own other then thoughts of how to please not only Josh but Jimbob in order to stay in good standing with the Duggars. She proved that when she allowed filming of the never to be forgotten toilet birth.

Heart in Florida said...

Anna will blissfully continue to conceive child after child until her own body says 'stop' decades from now. She is committed to fulfill her only mission on earth, so it seems. As long as Josh and perform, she'll be placated. His future actions remain to be seen, but how can he change this time when he has been a skilled liar for so many years? He was insincere from when he married Anna and through their marriage all the while giving public speeches on what's right and what's wrong. Anna doesn't 'know' the real Josh Duggar and may never know him. Not interested in seeing either one of them on the show. She has nothing to offer as it can't be about 'her' since it would need to include at some point her own home family life.

Ridiculous said...

Re: Jennifer's comment about, "what state do you live in?" I was wondering if that was in response to my comment that the public schools do testing for any problems with a child's eyes or hearing, yearly. I live in Massachusetts & all cities & towns do a wonderful job watching out for any medical issues, that are not being addressed by parents, who may not have noticed them. I know we pay for these services through taxes but to me it's worth helping a little child with any issue that effects their ability to learn.

So Sad said...

I cannot see Anna stopping the pregnancy band wagon she's on, until the same thing eventually happens to her that has happened to Michelle. Any woman, who would have a 5th child with a husband who has admitted to, visiting prostitutes & being addicted to porn, not to mention molesting his own sisters, will definitely continue to become pregnant. This was not a case of a husband who shall we say, "slipped" & had one brief affair, although that would be enough or me. This is far different. Anna has a sister who has at lest 8 or 9 children & she will certainly want to surpass that number. If fact she probably wants to surpass Michelle's number, at any cost to her own health.

Someone recently reminded us of the marital advice that appeared on the Duggar's website very soon after Josh and Anna's nuptials. At the time that it happened, I gave it an eye roll and very little thought. In revisiting the moment, however, I've realized something. Josh and Anna weren't really wanting or needing to hand out "advice". In fact, they may not have been consulted at all. Very likely that helpful info was provided by Jim Bob or Michelle. Because the Duggars are a BUSINESS. Why else would two kids try to offer marital advice to the masses? Why would two thrift-store-shopping young women try to give fashion advice? Why would two young adults pretend to be missionaries? In my opinion they are all playing with fire, doing anything they can to keep Duggar Inc. afloat. I won't be standing next to them during any thunderstorms.

Meme wrote " Because the Duggars are a BUSINESS. Why else would two kids try to offer marital advice to the masses? Why would two thrift-store-shopping young women try to give fashion advice? Why would two young adults pretend to be missionaries?"

The irony is that while the Duggars drum up unrealistic plotlines to keep the show interesting (and keep money rolling in), I think that most viewers would be more intrigued if the Duggars got actual jobs. What if, instead of watching Jill and Derick play tourist (sorry, "missionary") in Central America, they actually got jobs as English teachers in Central America and supported themselves that way, instead of begging for donations from their fans. (There are some missionaries who rely on donations to support them when they're in the field. I don't have a problem with them, as long as their families aren't millionaires.) What if we watched one of the teens going to college? That would be more interesting than thrift store shopping.

Andrea said...

What is it about cosmetology programs I find depressing? I guess, it's the thought that perfectly intelligent girls and women would choose a cosmetology program over an academic program because it's the only education their parents deem acceptable. I guess that's the thing I find most sad about the Duggar daughter's - not a single day of college amongst them. Sorry, college plus doesn't count as we now know that not a single one of them transferred their so called credits to a four year college. At least some of the Bates got to go to Crown College.

Aunt Bea said...

Anna's sister, Esther is expecting her 11th child while still living in Africa with her 'missionary husband' and 10 children. I feel sorry for those children.

I cannot imagine conceiving a child with a husband who had been having sex with a prostitute. Does Anna have any knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases, that could put both her & her baby at risk for many health problems? At her age & having had all the pregnancies she's already had, she must have some knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases. If not, she should get on the internet or head to the nearest library & get some books that will open her eyes to what problems she might possible be facing in the future. If not now, then she should prepare herself for the next pregnancy. I find it difficult to believe that Josh will change his ways. He really has had no professional therapy, only the Church place he was sent to that focused on praying away his sins, & studying the Bible. Whatever therapy he may have had, & I use the word "therapy" loosely, nobody seems to know what that involved, other than praying for his sins. This will not help Anna if she & any future babies are subjected to any sexually transmitted diseases in the future.

I'll say again that I wholeheartedly believe that to this day, Josh Duggar does NOT want to live the life his parents are living. He is being forced in to continuing on with Anna as if nothing happened. This guy can't even decide to live a more moderate Christian life. I believe he went so far in his indiscretions due to the suffocating life he has lived, the molestation and the cheating. The guy is just not happy. I'm not saying that everything is to be blamed on his upbringing, but I believe where Josh was and is concerned, it played a large part. He was a 14 year old boy who had absolutely NO outlet with peers like school, a real church and religious education OUTSIDE of his house and parents, no sports teams, no lessons of any kind by an outside teacher and NO social activities with kids his own age to grow, develop and ask questions with. Everyone is different and this lifestyle is suffocating Josh. Anna is an idiot if she thinks putting her husband on a shorter and tighter leash chained to the tree in a fenced yard will make him comply more wholeheartedly. His parents refuse to see the truth in their son. What Josh did was inexcusable, YES, no one should be allowed to sexually molest anyone, please understand this, but I think Josh is being force-fed this lifestyle to this day. He will crack one day and it'll be messy. In a way I feel sorry a bit for the guy who really didn't have a chance.

Josh and Anna giving marital advice as newlyweds was actually the point in time I crossed the line from tolerating their fundamental ways to actual disliking this family...and my dislike has only increased over time. What a joke. I can't remember what generic marital advice they were giving, but I wonder how it applies to their marriage in retrospect?

Sacramento Chic said...

Josh is also a master liar. He carried on his charade for some years and he was only found out because he was caught. No confession, no remorse or intent to stop and change his ways. The same went for the molestation, he didn't confess, he was caught I think by Jill and/or Jana. No confession back then either of his own remorse. He could very well be lying now. We don't know what he really thinks, most likely he's trapped and needs his father to help support HIS ever-growing family with his nit wit wife, Anna, who STILL has baby fever.

Wondering Why said...

Sacramento Chic. Thanks for the excellent post. You said word for word exactly what I have been thinking all along. I also wonder about Anna's recent statement, that she never knew what went on between a man & a woman in the bedroom until 2 weeks before she married. Then just how did her parents explain to her, what Josh had done to his sisters? They have claimed ever since the scandal broke that they knew all about Josh & his indiscretions. Was Anna told all this 2 weeks before her wedding & what's wrong with her parents that they would send her off to marry a man who supposedly admitted these indiscretions to them before he & Anna married. What a charade that was, all Josh's talk about how pious & pure the two of them were on their wedding day. Well maybe one of them was as pure as the driven snow but not both. Josh making a spectacle of himself with that stupid song he sang at the wedding. Of course, there was also all the "hand sex" which was constantly on display in front of the little kids. I wonder what they thought it was all about. Personally, I think a frontal hug or kiss on the check, would have been quite acceptable. I hate hearing the little ones parrot their parents by saying, "no kissing until you're married, or even worse, "we'll do th kissing for you."

Mickey2942 said...

Adults choose their lifestyle. Josh is an adult, who chooses to stay tied to the apron strings. He is lazy, unmotivated, selfish...it is easier to do what he is told, rather than break free and be his own man. All of the adult children are like this...easier to be sheep than have independent thought.

Wednesday said...

I have a really hard time believing that Anna had no clue what sex was until 2 weeks before her wedding. Why would her parents let her start courting if she didn't know about sex? Didn't she ever wonder where babies came from? Why she got her period? Why she has woman parts and men have men parts? Didn't she ever hear the stuff kids whisper about? Didn't she wonder why married people kiss, and Josh wanted to have sex with her hand? I remember even at a very young age I had an idea that the girl and boy parts worked together! I would like to hope that her parents had a talk with her 2 weeks before the wedding, but that she knew about this stuff before hand.

Not sure if others saw the blog post by Michael Bates Keilen this weekend, but it absolutely broke my heart. She opened up about the infertility that she and Brandon are struggling with and the effect it has had on her. These girls are raised to believe that their self worth is tied to the number of children they produce. What happens to them when they can't have children? Their self worth is gone. She talks about how she felt God had let her down and her faith really struggled. Kudos to Brandon for the way he has reacted. He has really helped her through this. One thing that she said really stood out to me. She said that through all of this, the time that she and Brandon have spent alone as a couple, has really drawn them together and made their marriage better and stronger. I kept going back to that line because it made me think so much of the Duggars and the other Bates girls who have had children immediately after marriage and then more, and more about every 1 1/2 to two years. They never get the chance to truly build a relationship and strong marriage with their spouse. That is really sad. I really hope and pray that any other women who were raised in this religion that struggle with infertility can see that they have so much more to offer besides just being a baby factory.

Heart in Florida said...

Yes, Michael's post was sad. I feel for her, really I do, but she is all focused on babies. Perhaps the Lord is telling her to enjoy, strengthen and work on her one on one relationship with her husband first. This situation should help the others in her family and those they socialize with that there is a lot of value in the time a newly married couple had before the children. They really can focus on each other and get to know one another. It's harder to focus on your marital relationship with distractions and a crowd around all the time. Children ARE wonderful and a joy, yes, but that time alone together is priceless too. They need to see the other side of the coin. I wish she would say what the matter with the infertility is...is it her or Brandon with the issue? and is it a permanent thing? We don't need to know specifics, just what the jist of it is as she brought it up.

Sacramento Chic said...

Heart in Florida: Just ask Jill and Derick Dillard about the value of time alone before children. I think they needed that time to adjust and to 'get to know one another.

everythingieverwanted said...

Heart in Florida - I got the feeling that possibly she is going to open up more about what they have been through and what the problem is. I did feel that through her post, she is realizing that there is more to HER than just being a baby factory and that she has many things to be thankful for......and that she has been working through the singular focus on having babies, and realizing that might not happen. I know that Erin struggled as well, and after they had their son, she said in an interview that because of their struggles, they may not have a lot of children. I was actually really surprised when they had the little girl so quickly. I feel like Michael is realizing that her self worth is not tied to just having babies, which makes me happy.......but it also brings up another issue. These families have always said "we will leave it up to the Lord, and see how many children He blesses us with. Well, what if He doesn't bless you with any? Can they accept that? Will they seek infertility treatments? To truly trust God with your family size, means leaving it all up to him. Will they be able to do that??????

Jill may not have a great deal of luck with a VBAC this time. She looks like this one may be over ten pounds and she possibly has two to three weeks to go.

Why do these Duggar girls have such huge babies? Sounds like a nightmare to birth a 10 pounder without pain relief, in front of the family.

Heart in Florida said...

everythingieverwanted: great post and I hope Michaela can deal with whatever is in her future with strength and a positive attitude. Things work out in the end. Yes, she is worth much more than the number of babies she can push out. How sad that she would wonder that at all, but we know their belief system. Your post is kind and gentle; glad to have read it as I mean my comments to be also about her.

Mickey3942: I agree totally with you that Josh doesn't want to make the break, and he isn't just tied to the apron strings but to the money. Josh's attacks on his sisters and cheating on Anna have made him untouchable, he can't work other than for JimBob and TLC can't let him on the show so that source of income has gone (except when the show Anna) so he is totally dependant on his father. He is stuck, and it is no ones fault but his own.

Joy & Austin's honeymoon beats Jinger & Jeremy. Imagine, being so young and going on such a fabulous honeymoon to Switzerland and now to Israel. There's no need to be shopping in thrift stores when at least $20,000. must have been spent on this trip. Just think of the cost of transportation, lodging, restaurants and site seeing. Must be nice to be so rich. Yes, I am jealous.

Mickey2942 said...

I guess a honeymoon to Pensacola would have been too boring for the show. No doubt TLC paid for the trip. A reasonable honeymoon for two young kids, with no jobs, is out of the question.

roddma said...

If these people left it 'to God' they wouldn't' leave charts on the fridge or take progesterone injections. Regardless of college, both families are clearly obsessed with reproduction. Whitney and Anna fretted over pregnancy tests. Michelle visited a fertility specialists.Kelly said once she felt empty without a newborn and I recall how the Bates kids worried they wouldn't get a new sibling and fasted.
I said it before but i doubt Tori will wait until May 2018 to marry. It's not their style. And even if they get a 'degree' it will be hard to work with the 'army of kids' they are taught to have. I think it just buys them time until a courtship and marriage, like Jill's midwifery.

Also ironic Carlin and Tori get post TV college but none of the older adults except Erin went, and that was after the backlash from turning down a scholarship from UT. Allegedly Lawson paid for her college. Zach went to he police academy, which can cost up to 6 grand. And even if the police department reimburses some of it, but still a chunk of change for someone who worked in his dad's tree business.I doubt Gil and Kelly could have paid for any education-if they wanted to- before UP.

Heart in Florida said...

The Duggar/Forsyth family should come clean about this double honeymoon. Who paid for it?
I wonder if the Duggar family was told that they would not be paid for anything they film on this show, just have 'costs' covered for it, would they continue to do it? After all, isn't this their MINISTRY to spread the "Word"? Their response would be interesting.

If Josh doesn't want to continue the lifestyle he was raised in, he should stop at the next pharmacy and buy up a years worth of condoms. Throwing more mouths to feed and raise into this equation is only going to add to the stress and likelihood he will flip out. God only knows what could happen!

Elspeth: I think Michelle saw that Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist because she couldn't accept the fact that she very well many have no more babies in her future. Why does this family gloss over everything and lie about most things?
From my own experience, one does not need to see such a specialist to see if they're 'in menopause'. Any OB/GYN can test you for that. Why didn't she see Dr. Sarver and ask her to do the test? thank you, Elspeth for your always insightful and helpful comments. Please keep them coming....do you know who "Alice" is/was?

Why did Michelle visit a Maternal Fetal doctor when she's leaving the babies up to God? Just sit back and have faith that God will do the right thing and pray. BUT they are such hypocrites, say one thing yet often prove they don't believe there own words.

TLC had to pay for the expensive honeymoon. How many house flips would young Austin have to accomplish to spring for the grand expense? What's wrong with renting a cabin in the mountains for 2 weeks, getting to finally know each other privately without TLC cameras on your honeymoon. Asking for all that camping gear gave the impression Joy & Austin were oudoor types, not world travelers. Who would have thought these kids were going to Switzerland & Israel. We know Jimbob wouldn't part with a dollar to give the newlyweds and the campground dad probably doesn't have that kind of money. TLC must be filming their honeymoon & will drag it out for two shows, reviewing the wedding of course. Let's see if Joe gets a fab honeymoon?

Candace Cameron wears a really nice bikini type of conservative swimwear. It even shows her middle. It seems much better than most types for swimming or sunning.
They could also go with a tankini, which are also cute, but I think most diehard fundies would find both types too immodest for them.
I don't see what is wrong with a pair of board shorts for swimming for the guys. The Bates boys in the pool with jeans on was just ridiculous

There are several sites online that sell loose, long skirted, long sleeved bathing suits that look so hot, uncomfortable and a real challenge to swim in with the long skirt. So why don't the Bates/Duggars purchase these to wear? Also, I think the Burkini might be too revealing for the Duggars as it is tight and the Duggar girls only wear tight things to show off their swollen expecting tummies.

How is not showing emotion religious? I think they need to re-examine who it is that they're following and the true meaning of those interpretations. Bill Gothard and all of them, IMO, have not authority to interpret Scripture. I believe it DOES take years of training and education, classes in meanings of biblical texts of the day and age and YES, a real calling to be ordained by AUTHORITATIVE ordination to be called a member of the clergy. I don't think that organization he headed up is an authentically Christian one. It's warped and gives waaaayy too much power to men who use it to abuse.

This is a funny thought that came to me as I was reading all the comments about swim suits and long skirts....I wonder if the girls shave their legs? I mean, why bother if you wear a denim skirt that sweeps the floor.

as a christan you do not follow anyone but Christ so if the duggars are following the gothard then they need to reexamine their beilfs. Bible states Jesus is the only one we follow is Christ and no one else?

Following a religion, of a man, who never married, and has been accused by numerous young women of sexual misconduct, is hardly one I would consider appropriate to give lectures, or doctrine to anyone about marriage, and behavior.

Stupidsidehugs, I agree with your post! They make those poor girls cover up completely except for one part of their body; their feet! Gothard got turned on by feet and loved playing footsies with the young girls under the table, when they weren't expecting it. Now, if these girls had real shoes on, that would have made things rather difficult for Gothard. Interesting, that all these fundie girls still wear flip flops/sandals even to weddings. I wonder if he has his people encourage girls to go barefoot(we have seen the Duggars like this countless times), or wear shoes that expose feet. Easy access for these pervs.

Bill Gothard is a very strange man, but check out both Steve and David, his brothers. These 3 men just ruin lives.
They distort God's word to control, frighten, extort, abuse and manipulate people. If you dress criminality in Christianity you have a better chance of getting away with it, it seems.

Why do the Duggar's follow the perverted rules of Gothard? He is not God. He is a sick man who has reportedly inappropriately touched young girls (as Josh has). Is that why Jimbob went easy on Josh, because his Gothard, his God, has done the same?
