Does the thrift store not sell maternity clothes? The recent photo of pregnant Jill was just so...uh.....sigh.

Since these girls are all about the same size, and since they spend most of their lives in a pregnant state, can't they invest in a few maternity clothes to swap around? I truly do not understand it. Their mother wore maternity clothes, used an obstetrician and delivered her babies in a hospital. Yet the daughters (and daughter-in-law) do none of this. Somebody break down and spend some money on something besides a bus or plane. Jill needs a dang maternity top.

Home births are for the show. The possibility of some drama keeps the fans glued and the cash rolling in. More magazine covers, speaking engagements etc, these attention seekers crave to stay in the spotlight. This family were seduced by the fame and the money a long time ago. There is no humility, no selflessness, they are totally self absorbed. Thankfully people are starting to wake up, just like I did. I'm embarrassed to say I used to be a fan.

I hope Andrea is correct about the numbers being under 1 million for the next episode, as the show is so boring. Can't TLC revamp their lineup so that they can find an interesting show or something that will hold viewers interest for at least another yr.? This show is not going to do it. This "Counting On Show" is not turning out to be what TLC said it was going to be, it was going to be abut the next generation & their exciting lives. Well there's not a great deal of excitement waiting to see who is courting, engaged, getting married, pregnant & that's not just one season, it's every season. We see nothing about the husbands going off to work as they don't. We see very little of the babies. We don't see the wives cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping or any of the thousand little things that women with children do everyday & most do it while working a fulltime job. Not so with the Duggars. They have to be careful not to show Josh. Jim Bob & Michelle were supposedly not going to be in the "Counting ON' show, however they seem to get their fair share of air time. To have an important part of an episode be Austin asking Jim Bob an important question & even worse, the same looking down at the floor, followed by a long embarrassing wait for the answer we all know is coming; "well it's a big step," is just ridiculous. Come on TLC, anyone can do better than this.

Meme said...

Don't be embarrassed, many of us were fans. Yours truly was proud that they seemed to really believe in serving God by doing for others. They just blew Hollywood away. Then, like you said, they were seduced by the fame and the money. The family was already comfortable with people giving to them, the television show and perks just exacerbated the problem.

I remember when Jim Bob was running for office in Arkansas, bragging that his family didn't use food stamps, etc. What he neglected to say was that they took advantage in many other ways. Jim Bob's love of money (and attention) is repulsive to Christians and sincere, hardworking people. Ah well, pride goeth before a fall.

Meme: I personally think the Duggar girls who marry become lazy with their appearance once they marry, and that is partly the reason for the t-shirts overstuffed with pregnant belly. The only one who has remained stylish since she married is Jinger. Anna became more stylish while she was living in DC, but since the move back to Arkansas she has reverted to fundie frump type. I don't think I have ever seen the Bates girls in overstretched t-shirts (I can't watch their programme, and only see pictures on their blog and instagram pages) Erin, Alyssa and Whitney always wore empire style tops or things that actually fitted, but then they dress better in general than the Duggar ladies. Recent pictures of Zach and Whitney on holiday at the beach showed them both looking stylish and normal, whitney in cropped white jeans and even a swimsuit all be it covered up with a cute little crochet dress. I know that once your married you might relax a little and feel you don't need to go all out on the appearance, then kids come along you don't have as much time for yourself, but these young women have a TV show, are in magazines and post constantly on social media, they also have husbands who are around all day, you would think they would make a little effort. They are also not short of money to buy maternity clothes, I really think it is laziness and the attention the too tight tops bring them that keeps them wearing them.

Stupidsidehugs: Don't feel badly about being a former fan of this family. When they first were on TV with their special, I thought they were a nice conservative family. They are nothing like that now. I'm sure many of us here thought differently, early on, about them too. I'm glad I saw through the 'public persona'.

Elspeth said...

Don't forget that the Duggars haven't changed that much. It's that we became aware that they weren't really what they portrayed also. They weren't some nice conservative Baptist family. They followed quiverfull and Gothard with all the destructive beliefs of both groups.

Heart in Florida said...

Elspeth: YES, you are correct. It is when WE LEARNED MORE about them that the awful, harsh reality of who they are came to light. Jim Bob had some nerve twisting the truth, as they still do, about saying that they don't get food stamps. No, they didn't get the stamps, but they got "donations' directly from food companies, local churches, and sympathetic locals who knew nothing about JB's true bank balance. IMO, that is purposely and knowingly misleading others. I think that's the same sin as lying. This family was described by 'Alice' as being good liars from way back then and they still are to this day. "Repackaging the truth" is what they do best. They are all evasive and don't ever really answer a question with an ANSWER.
I wish we knew more about Alice or can hear from Alice again.

Mickey2942 said...

No, the tight tops, showing the large bust, protruding belly button "outie", is part of the allure to entice men who find pregnancy sexy. A frumpy loose, pregnancy jumper would not create the same fans.

Ellie On a Roll said...

I'm wondering if Jinger is studying to attempt taking her GED? Suddenly reading books, spending 6 months with no Duggar vistsors.

Duggarsbegone said...

On one of the shows Jinger told her sisters that no one could visit for six months. Smart move on her part. Otherwise, the entire family would have shown up right after they returned from their honeymoon.

Hildy said...

Jinger must be amazed at the doors of knowledge being opened for her in newly found world of books. She reminds me of a foreign child of an orphanage being introduced to the wonders of America by adoptive parents. I sort of see the Jeremy/Jinger relationship in those terms.

Susie said...

Jeremy is so lame that Jinger actually appears smarter when the two are together. Perhaps that suppressed being will slowly emerge and we will see a tiny bit of growth OR they will still be using flash cards 5 years from now as they continue to dabble in Spanish and continue to preach their brand of hate for those who are different.

Margie said...

I thought Jeremy was okay until he showed such rage against Catholics. He's looking like a trouble maker, even putting down "fake missionaries". Of course we all know the Dillards are fake, living in some weird lala land having reported doing nothing of substance in their
missionary fantasy but it's not right of Jeremy to put family members down in the media.
Jeremy needs to get a job too. How much time can it take each week to write a sermon & tend to the needs of his tiny congregation of maybe 10 families?

Heart in Florida said...

IMO, Jeremy needs to be at the church office 9-5 M-F working on his once a week sermon. A pastor should be accessible to his/her congregation and they should know where to find them. I know, if I had a personal pressing issue that I needed to speak with my pastor about PRIVATELY, I wouldn't want to have to call him at home where his wife and family were, as I'd feel 'outed' even though I'm sure it would be confidential. It's more secure, TO ME, to be able to go in the church and see him in his office. Jeremy is another one with that 'part time job' illness that the Duggar sons in law suffer from.

Big kite said...

How do we know how many people are in Jeremy's congregation? Do you have inside knowledge?

The MO of all of these men is to not work and to live off of TLC$. They better pray it does not dry up.

Bird said...

Hildy, I thought the same thing! She didnt learn anything from her homeschooling or being trapped in the tower. I hope she can spread her wings and try new things and hold off on the babies for a few years. Jeremy said he is enjoying getting to know all about his wife, i hope they get to know each other for a while. I think Jill is not happy, Derrick is nothing like the guy Jimbob told her to love...

Aunt Bea said...

It was stated somewhere that Jeremy's church has 50 people in it's congregation.

Jackie said...

"I think Jill is not happy, Derrick is nothing like the guy Jimbob told her to love..."

IIRC, Jill made some passing comment (to Jessa, I think) about regretting that she didn't have more "just us" time with Derrick before getting pregnant so fast, but quickly stopped herself and switched to talking about how (cue Michelle's baby voice) WONDERFUL it is to be expecting this little blessing from the Lord.

Heart in Florida said...

It boggles my mind, still, that these people think nothing about getting to know your spouse AFTER they are your spouse. Marrying a stranger is not a good thing. What if Jeremy discovered that he DIDN'T like what he was learning about Jinger? Those two, though, are still in their honeymoon/newlywed euphoric stage. How will they be in two years from now? A couple really needs to spend QUALITY time together ALONE and learn who each other is BEFORE getting engaged; let alone married.

Mickey2942 said...

The Duggars model of family and marriage..children from age to 20 to past age 60..over 40 years of raising kids! Shudder.

Emma said...

Heart in Florida: Even when you marry someone you do know you still learn things about them you didn't know until you start living with them, so for these girls the adjustment must be huge. Annoying habits come to the fore, maybe they are untidy where you are neat, personality traits that you perhaps only noticed slightly can become magnified once you are subjected to it 24/7. These girls definately marry strangers, picked by daddy because they say the right things and fill in his 50 page questionnaire to his satisfaction, and follow the same twisted beliefes dressed up as christianity. I think marriage is a disappointment to Jill, Derick was her knight in shining armour, the fantasy man she fell in love with from afar and travelled half way round the world to meet. She married him and found herself pregnant the next day, she went from young naive girl to wife and mother in a foreign country without her family in the space of a year. I don't get the impression Derick is very supportive, and seems to have drunk the koolaid and is fully indoctrinated in all the patriarcal bs. Jinger is in her little loved up bubble, Jeremy is a god to her but she does seem happy. Out of all the sisters Jessa seems the most content to me, she is miss bossy and Ben lets her rule the roost. I remember that when they were courting she told Michelle that Ben would say nice things but she wasn't an overly emotional type of person, at least not in public. She may not be happy with the material aspect of life, she makes no secret of wanting a bigger house, but she does seem content with Benjermen, and is definately a more natural mother than Jill.

Apronstrings said...

Emma, That is so so true that Jessa is content. I have thought it all along. And your post hits the nail on the head as to why: he lets her rule the roost! And if she would have married a control freak, boy those feathers would be ruffled by now. I also agree, she seems like she is happy with Ben and motherhood. I think she will the happiest married in the long run.

Judy said...

The Bates kids have been thoroughly brainwashed but they appear so much happier and confident and normal than the Duggars. The Duggar kids appear unhappy and afraid to speak. They all sound alike with their pat phrases and frowny faces. Not happy.

Stupidsidehugs said...

A proud look, a lying tongue and a false witness. No this is not Jimbobs resume, this a list of things God hates, from the Billy Graham Website. I would love TLC to get this great man, now in his 90s to reveal The Good News, the way Jesus meant it, to these ignorant, arrogant, stupid Gothard, money hungry, attention seeking fools. Now that would be a ratings winner TLC.

Emma said...

Could someone please tell me why so many people defend, support and suck up to the Duggars and their in-laws. Over on Dericks twitter he has recently cracked a few vey lame (hate to call them) jokes, and you would think he was the next big name in comedy. Last night he tweeted 'if baby Samuel comes tonight we will have to call him uncle Sam'. People were telling him he was so funny, cracking them up, one even said he was funny coupled with widom' seriously???? Am I missing something, maybe my sense of humour is more developed or just very different? Maybe this is what fundies find funny? Jim Bob always thought he was hilarious especially in the talking head pieces, but he wasn't and just came over as trying too hard and looking terribly lame. I just don't get it, it leaves me scratching my head wondering about these people who follow them, do they really think the duggars care about them or their opinions? The Duggars couldn't give a damn about them ( unless they are sending them donations or gifts) Sorry for the rant, had to vent somewhere, won't be going back to stick mans twitter again.

Heart in Florida said...

Emma: Great post. I agree with you that all newlywed couples continue to learn things about each other after marriage. My point was that with this family, they REALLY DON"T KNOW the person they have already married. They are way behind the 'learning who he/she is' stage and yes, their knowledge-gaining about that person is huge.
I'm not sure Jessa is really THAT happy with Ben. I agree that for now, she's ok with things and loves her children, but that I think will change as the years go by. When Jessa is a 35 or 40 year old woman, will she still want an immature, daddy-takes-care-of-husband in Ben? What will that grown up man, Ben, DO for a real living? Will Jim Bob remain financially content to let his children live in his houses and collect either little or no rent off of them for the rest of HIS life? He purchased those houses for his investment and incomes from them. He won't be seeing those financial returns if many of his married children continue to live in them. What if Ben actually grown UP one day and refuses to be led around by Jessa?

I wonder how long "Counting On" will continue. A real interesting show, that I might watch would be, "Duggars; Ten Years after TLC".

I'd love to see a show about the real life of any of them, not the fake scripted stuff. How do they discipline the children to turn out like robots?

Wheez said...

Jinger seems the happiest to me. She seems glowing. Jessa's ruling the roost may seem fun for a bit, but sad if she one day realizes she doesn't have a true companion and partner, but just a big child that she has to tell what to do and when and where and how to do it. Hope I'm wrong.

I wonder if Jordyn finding the gender reveal package was staged in response to criticism that she is always left out (of weddings etc).

Sacramento Chic said...

Jinger is happy because she is a follower, remember? I suspect that there will be a day that Jeremy will want to have a real, adult, grown-up, interesting in depth conversation with her and won't be able to. Yes, what seems interesting and fascinating to him about her now, will be a let down in time. Not that she's a bad person or anything, but Jeremy IS used to grown ups around him. Jinger needs to step up to the plate, expand her herizons and just plain grow up. Meek is sweet only for so long.

https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2017/07/jill-duggar-and-derick-dillard-rejected-by-their-own-church/

Apparently Jill and Derilict are still rejected as missionaries. If they were seriously devout, one would think that they would have taken the classes, and committed their lives to missionary work. Instead, they are just bumpkins on vacation, on TLC some, to make a "show", because being a missionary in CA, is far more exciting to watch, then follow Jill around the compound while Derelict does whatever he does all day.

Does Jeremy have qualifications to be a minister? Probably, since his Father is one...

Kendra has her wedding grift list up on Amazon, asking for gift cards for restaurants, probably so she can turn them in for cash. I guess there are some really lonely, misguided souls, who actually purchase gifts for this clan...die hard Duggar fans.

There is a level of sociopathy, that JB Duggar, and his children have, in expecting others to support them financially. Added to a concentric inflated sense of self, an ignorance of their skill level, in comparison to actually having specific skill set, they just say they do, like playing "Twinkle, twinkle little star" on a violin, is on par with being a prodigy, capable of writing a concerto and leading an orchestra.

This family would be so interesting to do true family therapy with...but, their religious dogma, interferes with reveling their true feelings. They just smile, talk in a baby whisper, and say everything is wonderful, praise God.

Heart in Florida said...

Mickey2942: Jeremy doesn't have any seminary/theological study experience or training. His father 'ordained' him after his sports career was no longer and Jer decided to 'follow the Lord'. So....

Jill didn't know the Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star song on a TV interview shortly after her marriage. Sadly, her mommy, Michelle, didn't allow those heathen nursery rhyme songs in HER house.

Real World said...

Big Kite, What do you mean by your statement, "they beat them." Who beats whom? And how do you know this?

Aimee said...

In one of the new episodes they ask Ben/Jessa what they have learned about each other or what they have changed since getting married. Jessa said she has had to learn to not eat so fast. Ben says she always had to eat fast growing up so she could have enough food. Remember Derick telling the story about Jill eating in the bathroom so no one would take her food? Why on earth are these girls, who grew up poor before TLC, married to men with no jobs?! What will they do after "Counting On..."? Will their own brood be eating in bathrooms or scarfing food worried about if they will have enough??

Everyone wants to put down Joy and Austin but I think she saw someone with an actual income and ran! Austin may be young but he clearly has more work ethic than the other son-in-law's combined!

Melody said...

The Duggars have mentioned they follow "To Train up a Child" book by Michael & Debi Pearl. I came across one at a thrift store and had to get it because I knew the Duggars followed the book. Yes, the Pearls have a few chapters regarding "the rod" or "magic wand" as they say, how to hit the children with it and how it is actually comforting to the child to be put over a bed and hit while the father preaches about the wrongs. There are instructions on how to hit the child to cause pain but not leave marks and even advocating hitting a child under 1 year with a smaller stick, increasing the size of the rod as the child grows. I was horrified to read they encouraging using a switch to hit a 7 month old child who has a crying tantrum, hitting a 5 month old for crawling where not allowed & also say a switch at nap time could teach the infant to go to sleep without a whimper. They say to pull out a little baby's hair, conditioning it through pain to stop biting or some other new borne baby actions. Also they advocate not comforting a child if they fall or any other little accident. Leave them deal with the pain themselves, say the Pearls.

A link to a very interesting discussion about Gothard's teaching. I haven't watched it all myself, it's over an hour long, so be prepared. For anyone who watched the interview with Kristiana & a former Scientologist discussing her personal experience with Gothard's teachings, this one is much more in depth.

Dusty said...

It is my opinion that Derrick is a follower of the Pearl book. I see sad look in Israel's eyes and I recall Jill & Derrick saying something about the child being self centered and manipulative. Who can forget the screaming swaddled toddler? I can see now why the Duggar kids are like robots, fearful of Jimbob beating them. How old do they have to be to avoid being hit, I wonder. Are the adult children subject to beatings?

Roy said...

The IBLP Gothard families have to be the dumbest of the dumb. No one but Gil and Jim Bob would be stupid enough to fall for all of that baloney. Plus all of those Duck Dynasty Deplorables.

Stupidsidehugs said...

Parents who accurately follow Gothards strict teachings result in children who are naturally submissive. That is the aim. These children do not think independently or critically. Individuality is not encouraged, nor is creativity or imagination. Wisdom booklets and the Bible are their only education. Beatings probably are not necessary to control them, as the strict authoritarian structure and gender roles do that anyway. If you have time please watch the YouTube video recently mentioned. It is long, 45 minutes I think, but it explains the darkness of this cult. Darkness packaged in a sugary, ideal, wholesome Christian format and presented to the world on TLC.

Meme said...

Aimee, I agree with you about Austin. The boy has an actual work ethic. And Ben is no longer "the athletic one" as Austin outdid all the brothers-in-law on their sporty outing.

Austin was raised by a seemingly serious-minded, no nonsense yet sincere father. At least that's the way the man was presented on World's Strictest Parents. He WORKED those unruly teenagers, as well as Austin and other family members. Mr. Forsythe came across as strict but not overly stern, and very matter-of-fact. He really tried to talk to the kids and explain things to them. He had a sweet wife, a quiet son and a squirrelly daughter. He didn't seem like someone who necessarily enjoyed being on television, but I could be wrong there. Again, he seemed sincere, an anti-Jim Bob Duggar. Anyway, I really enjoyed the head-to-head between this sincere man's serious son and the pretentious, clownish, aren't-I-funny Jim Bob. Jim Bob never stood a chance. His silly attempts at humor were met with a solemn, I-don't-get-it gaze from Austin. LOVED it! Austin was more than ready for that premarital meeting with his future father-in-law. Who knew?

Dusty said...

I do not understand how the sons, under Gothard"s rule, can ever grow up to be independent men. It's like the cult leaders, the fathers, do not think beyond their generation. If the boys cannot do critical thinking, how can they ever succeed in life. Of course, I'm not even addressing the girls as they exist simply to brainlessly push out those new cult members.

sandi said...

Do the Pearl followers think their adult kids will take care of them when they're old? Because I suspect a lot of them who endured the beatings just might tell them to take a hike.I know I sure would!

Hello said...

The Duggar boys don't have to learn about critical thinking. They are brainwashed since birth to obey daddy's rules at all times. Daddy will find them a job, a wife and then they are to impregnate her as often as possible. None of the boys are capable of living on their own and making their own decisions. John David supposedly owns a house but it is not allowed to live in it by himself. At 27 he is forced to live in a dorm room with all his younger brothers. If he was out of Jboob's control, he might meet people and figure out that he doesn't have to live under daddy's rules until he gets married. The kidults can get married as teenagers, but cannot move out on their own when they are in their twenties if they are unmarried. Jana will probably be encouraged to live at home until all the younger girls are married off. If Jboob doesn't find her a husband until she is 40, will she be required to have a chaperone and have Jboob an Mullet listen in on phone calls? Will they kiss and say you can't do this yet so we will do it for you?
Jboob and Mullet have not done their kids any favors by keeping them so controlled. They eventually marry them off and hope for the best and lots of grandkids.

Obviously, Jimbob put great fear in the twins for them to remain living in dorm rooms at the age of 27. I was surprised how very young and clueless Jana sounded in that interview about her future a few years ago. It was like she never thought about where she is heading in her life. She seems very damaged, always serving the family, soon to be 30 years old and never been on a date or probably never even had a conversation with a man. How sad to put on all that makeup every day, keep her hair perfect and for what??

The Jill and Jessa have used the term "training up" several times recently. Obviously the term comes from the Pearl's. Do Jill and Jessa not know or not care that Pearl followers have been convicted of manslaughter? I'm actually speechless. These people are horrible.

It's Me said...

RE: "training up" Andrea, The Pearls are terrible people, no doubt. But there is a Bible verse that says "to train up a child". They twist the Bible to suit their own agenda. I have news for them. Jesus warned twice not to hurt children. Their angels look into the face of God.

dinda said...

I have read the Pearl book describing in detail how to abuse a child and leave no injury. I wouldn't train my dog so harshly. I feel children can be taught with love, not fear. It is obvious Jill and Derrick are advocates of the Pearl method but did not think Jessa and Ben were as they seem to truly love their babies. Little Israel will be at risk when the new baby arrives and he experiences the usual jealousy of a new sibling coming into the family. Seems to me, Derrick is a tough task master though he leads a personal life of leisure with all the donations.

Well it was only a matter of time before it happened, Josh had to withdraw from piggybacking on his sisters lawsuit but has now launched his own lawsuit against Intouch magazine. Apparently he feels Intouch violated his privacy by investigating the information passed to them by a member of the public, and writing their expose of Josh's horrible crimes. He claims he has had death threats and has had to hire 24/7 security. He also doesn't like the negative attention he receives from the public. This guy has absolutley no moral compass, he feels he is entitled to compensation for basically causing his own downfall. If he and his parents had taken the appropriate action at the time this happened and hadn't tried to be clever and wait until he was 18 and couldn't be prosecuted none of this would have happened. He says the police promised him and his parents that they would never release any of his statement, if that is the case why is he not suing them and only Intouch, likely because he cannot prove that and also the police have recently moved to have the girls suit thrown out as they say they have immunity as they were working to the letter of the law. While I think it is awful and wrong for anyone to make death threats, and he and Anna have small children in their home, he deserves everything he gets in terms of public opinion. This was a man who set himself high on a superior self righteous pedastal, he took a job working for a hate group that campaigns to change laws to suit their agenda, laws which will effect everyone in your country. He has fallen a very long way, and is now trying to take on the freedom of the press, I really hope this gets thrown out, he doesn't deserve a penny for doing what he did, no matter what excuse he uses to dress it up.

Re:what women with kids do daily. It's what parents do daily. WHat would the Duggars think of a stay at home dad, I mean that cooks and cleans? I guess Jim Bob stays at home, but he does no housework.

roddma said...

Re: the Bates and bathing suits. Yea it looked like Whitney was wearing a normal bathing suit. She wasn't raised like them though and I don't let changes in wardrobe or being stylish fool me enough to say "ooh they're leaving Quiverfull/ATI".

JimBob will pimp anything and anyone for cold hard cash.
Dress as a cow ??? Why ??? He has daughters to dice with death during labour with TLC right there, filming it all, that's millions for the bank account. A home birth where maybe your daughter and grandchild may die ??? That's ratings gold. Praise the Lord.

I wish Blogger had an edit feature instead of having to delete. As for the Bates kids being happier, I don't buy anything they present to TV viewers. The DUggars also appeared happy at first.
If you look on older blogs, you see Gil and Kelly kept distance from the kids. I think it's something for T.V.

LilBit0318 said...

Roddma...I feel exactly the same way. The Bateses have learned from the Duggars' mistakes, and I think Gil is probably just as wily, deceitful, and money-hungry as Jim Bob. And that family is just as entrenched in the whole Gothard/Quiverfull/ATI mess as the Duggars. They've just had the advantage of having someone go before them so they can avoid the "land mines," if you will. Never forget that both families are cut from the same cloth, no matter what things may look like on TV.

Give Me a Break said...

Re: Coleen's comment about it being Cow Day at Chik-fil-a, wonder if the Duggars dress up? Apparently so. Jessa who has nothing else to do, with a brand new baby, was getting everyone dressed up for the free food. Give me a break!!

Heart in Florida said...

LilBit0318: I agree with your post completely about the Bates being the same as the Duggars. I have posted many times earlier that I know they're cut from the same cloth, otherwise, JB and Gil wouldn't have been such good friends. They think exactly alike. The Bates family's show packages them better. I also think their director instructs the kids, ALL of them to be boisterous and full of 'emotion' that I don't think they get to display normally. The Duggars are dull are dirt to watch.

Opie said...

TLC crew does a terrible job of staging the Duggars. They are predictable and robotic. UP shows the Bates in a more engaging manner. However, the Bates kids seem much more at ease with their parents than the Duggars. Beliefs are the same.

Sabrina W said...

Where do they get cow costumes?? Wouldn't it be more money and trouble then just buying the fast food?

Not a Duggar Fan Anymore said...

Even though Michael(a) Bates and a couple of her sisters were a HUGE help to their mom, those Bates kids know the difference between who is their mom and who is their big sister. Much unlike the Duggar kids.

Heart in Florida said...

Yes, with two young children at home and a house to take care of, I wouldn't have had time to go down to Chick Fil A and dress up my baby, who couldn't eat the meal anyway. Jessa's house is not clean or orderly in the least.

Grandma Wagner said...

Maybe Jessa likes the costume thing because they were not permitted to do Halloween trick or treating.

Dusty said...

How could Jessa's house not be clean when 2 adults who do not work live there? About the cow costume....how much time, fuel for car and the cost of the costume did it take to get a free chicken sandwich?

They cant dress up for halloween and go get candy, which they give to each other as gifts anyway but they can dress up to get free food?
Baby Sam is SO CUTE!!!! He is so cute that he is the first baby duggar i habe ever said is cute. Even though hes got jim bobs nose....
Saw derick cut his hair, nice...
Jill looks pretty ragged, glad to see she is alive.
Happy as every new day has not had a jinger pregnant article.
This might not be the same for the child bride joy.
Smh. Children playing house. No concept of proper life. Poor things

Mickey2942 said...

I completely agree with you. It is obvious that Michelle just sort of takes up space. Her children really don't seem to have a relationship with her. The Bates come across as a far more engaged family. Mrs Bates is actually involved with her kids. And more importantly, the kids are engaged with her.

LilBit0318 said...

As far as the cost of the actual cow costume, it can be done for next to nothing. I didn't see that they did it this year, but in the past, Chick-fil-A has even put up paper cutouts of ears, spots, etc., that you can print and cut out. I think the ears were attached to a paper strip that acted like a headband to hold them on, then just pin the spots on a white t-shirt, and you're good. Nothing elaborate needed.

Can't believe it said...

Re:LiBit0318's comment about not being sure if the Duggars dressed up this yr. There were pictures shown of Jessa dressing up her family, including little Henry in an outfit to go for the free food. Hard to believe!

Re: Kelly Bates and Michelle. I agree that Michelle Duggar is not an involved mother. She knows nothing about her children. I don't believe that Kelly is much better, though. Remember when she didn't know that little boys' pants have that inside stretchy strip that adjusts the waist for skinny kids? I have ONE son, and we had to use those adjustments for years. Kelly, with all her boys, wasn't even aware of them. This is not a mother who dresses her children. Like Michelle, she just sort of stands around giving instructions. I found a holiday episode quite telling, maybe Thanksgiving? Kelly's mother-in-law was completely overwhelmed in the kitchen as she was cooking for Gil and Kelly's entire brood. Some of the granddaughters (of course) were the only ones helping. Kelly did nothing other than stand around gabbing. She finally went OUTSIDE with some of the kids - not to supervise, just to join them.
If Gothard wants to lay down rules, he needs to add a chapter on who is supposed to tend to all these precious blessings after they're born. I firmly believe that if Michelle, Kelly, Gil and Jim Bob had been required to change each and every diaper of each and every child, we wouldn't have these enormous families on t.v. Speaking of Gothard, does someone know who (if anyone) has replaced him?

zebracrossing said...

Just pondering....IF Jill ended up only having these two sweet little boys...can she look to her mother in law and SEE how close Cathy is to her two boys? Does Jill think of Cathy as a failure because she only birthed two?

Can Jill then look at her own mother who really has no relationship with her children...can she not see this? I am not against having several children as I love them but to have them just for the sake of the 'COUNT'....not cool.

Pay attention, Jill...slow down with the conceiving fallacy. Your health is important for little Israel and Samm. Please consider being around for your children and having the time to get to know them.....end of pondering...and a huge SIGH.

Kelly at least holds her babies close and cuddles them.Michelle holds her at arms length, and I noticed Jill did the same with Israel.
In pics of Michelle holding someone else's child, she literally grits her teeth and forces a smile. It was evident when she was holding one of Priscilla Waller's babies, and others as well.
I really do not think she likes babies at all.Jmo

Mickey2942 said...

Nothing this family does for something free surprises me. They take grifting to a whole new level of sociopathy.

Meme said...

Sandi, so true! It has always been my personal belief/opinion that Michelle does not like young, dependent children. I think she was a complete rock-skipping, sling shot shooting TOMBOY. Then she fell for Boob and became indoctrinated into his cult, deciding that she wanted to be the ultimate fundie wife. Gonna do it better than any other woman. Thus beginning the obsession with child-bearing, using cutesie terms like "expecting" and "tummy". She LOVED being the Mama in the red (complete with bib) dress, with her little red ducklings tip
toeing along behind her. This was during Jim Bob's political run, of course. I believe she became addicted to the ATTENTION given to her during those early years. This, coupled with her determination to satisfy Gothard's Godly wife requirements produced 19 children. I'm certainly no shrink but I just never saw the normal maternal instincts there. Which is fine - motherhood is not for everyone. So why have 19 children? Anyway, I'm no Kelly Bates fan, but I'll take her over Michelle Duggar, Lori Alexander or Debi Pearl any day.

Marites H. said...

In at least one episode, we have seen this awkward "mother" spend one-on-one time with SOME of her brood, like shopping for birthday gifts in the hospital gift shop. She seemed like the spinster aunt who hasn't been around kids much but feels obligated to spend time with a kid because they are related to her. I don't know any mom who would take a photo of their injured son before running to wrap him up in her arms and comforting him. In the intro of the show, Michelle proudly announced that she gave birth to every one of them. The physical acts of childbearing, labour & delivery do not necessarily turn a woman into a mother. No maternal instincts whatsoever! It's good the kids have Jana to take care of them.

So here in the UK we are a season behind you, and the new series stated tonight with shopping for Jingers wedding dress. I don't watch the show but caught a couple of minutes of a Derick talking head, holy hell what is going on with his mouth/jaw. I have seen photographs and read peoples comments but it is only when you see him talk you realise how off centre his teeth are, its like someone unscrewed half his head and it didn't quite line up when it was put back together again. Did a professional dr do this too him, if so he needs legal advice. Also is it just me or is Joy a bit joyless, she seems so serious and doesn't seem to smile much, suppose hard to tell from the short time I watched, oh and its BORING!!

During Megyn Kelly interview with the Duggars, after the molestation scandal, I was literally screaming at the TV, when Michelle stated that the girls needed to learn to be more modest, and that boys should not change diapers. Victim blaming, completely mind blowing.

Still amazed this dysfunctional family is allowed to spew their illogical ideology.

roddma said...

I'm not sure I would take Kelly Bates. As I said, I don't read much into her or Gil holding babies. I would hope her sadness over the grandkids leaving is real. Lately, Lawson has been photographed holding babies, as trying to prove how 'godly' he is.

Anyhow the shortened names for the Bates girls instead of formal names drive me nuts as the Duggars repeated names and alliteration. Tori could be Victoria, Lexi/Alley for Alexis or Alexandria, Katie for Katherine etc. I don't know why it drives me nuts. I guess I'm a name snob.

roddma said...

Yes i think that was classless running to get free food when the DUggars don't obviously need it since they are allegedly well off and shun dress up on Halloween.

Guess Josh had to wait for a sibling to come up with an excuse for his behavior, although it was months ago. We all remember John David saying, "The devil took his best shot at us & failed." Was looking over on the Duggar blog and in one of their posts they have listed some of the 100 things Michelle wrote about what she appreciates about Jimgod. One that made me laugh out loud was that he encourages their kids to be entrepreneurs! Which one has he encourged in this way and what have they done? Who out of all their kids has taken the risk and started up a business? The only thing I can think off was Duggar studios, they had a youtube site to watch crappy home made videos of the kids (thats where Derick got the idea), after they were called out on social media for having a donate button they had to take it down. They followed that up with t-shirts, but no one wanted a t-shirt that reminded everyone of a molester so they couldn't give them away! Can anyone else think of any of these woefully undereducated, sheltered kids who have done anything that has made any money? Jana bought a tattoo parlour (or its in her name) but no more mention, another of the boys 'bought' a small house but was under age to do so, so probably not in his name and no more mention of it. Jimgod controls everything, none of these kids is equipped to set up or run a business without his help or money.

Heart in Florida said...

Emma: I think if Jana purchased that tattoo shop building REALLY and truly, when Daphne Oz asked her what she was up to, she would have told us about what she was doing with that commercial space. All she mentioned was her garden. Proof to me that in reality, she bought nothing and has no BUSINESS plans.

I also found it ironic that Michelle listed that Jim Bob is 'slow to anger'. Isn't this the guy who suffers from an anger management problem? Remember they mentioned it a few years ago and stated that the children were given permission to 'take daddy's arm and remind him that he's getting too angry'...so he calms down. What an awful environment for those children to have lived in. I'm sure growing up with that fingerprint of your father's temperament, it couldn't have been a relaxing and calm environment to grow up in. NO wonder those kids were afraid to step out of line in any area. They didn't want to 'upset daddy'.

Yes, nothing that any of the adult children have ventured in to is independent of their father and HIS business interests. So sad that those sons of Jim Blob don't have the ability to support themselves and their expected ginormous families independently of their father. He has done his sons a great disservice, IMO.

Meme said...

Oh, the irony.

I agree with you, Heart, that those boys cannot support themselves. Entrepreneurs my b*tt. They sit around banging on ukeleles and doing parlor puzzles, letting the girls wait on them hand & foot.
What is particularly irksome is the Duggars' insistence on doing these silly videos about so-n-so's outstanding qualities. I ask you, WHAT is the point of that?! Let me answer my own question (I had time to think): ATTENTION. Yet again. Look at how great Jim Bob is, look at what a fantastic (choke) Mama Michelle is. Look at their wonderful marriage. Don't you wish your marriage was as great? (Incidentally, my husband & I celebrated 20 years together yesterday and I got a great ring, which I shared with FAMILY ONLY). No one wants to hear about it, Duggars. We've heard it all before, many times. I DO, however, have a few ideas for a new list. How about "100 reasons that the Duggars should never make another list."

I watched that on YouTube the other day and Michelle said they all wore red shirts so they could keep up with their group. I call BS on that. They were getting attention when traveling and all dressed alike and they thought it was so cute. I had twins and dressed them alike or coordinated them simply because it was easier to find clothes that way but they were cute like that too. However, I never dressed to match them nor did my husband and I dress to match. He would NEVER agree to something so silly. Just shows how all the way in Michelle and Jimbob are to the matching clothes etc. Jimbob loves that attention too. They are right, they are MADE for each other

Does anyone think Jill may have had to have a hysterectomy? I just can't think of any reason to be so silent, especially since the Duggars like to blab every detail of their lives.

The thought of no more babies would totally devastate Jill and probably the rest of the family. That's about the only thing I could think of that they wouldn't want to talk about.

betsy said...

The results of a hysterectomy in a young woman is more then just not having anymore babies. If this is true, she is plunged in to immediate menopause if they removed her ovaries which I believe is part of the surgery. The hormonal situation would need to be directed by a real doctor or she will suffer. If this is true, how can she take off for CA ASAP?

lisa mcgingess said...

anyone see the picture of jim bod and michelle in Hawaii wonder who paid for that trip? guess we know who watching the younger kids?

everythingieverwanted said...

In response to the hysterectomy speculation. They don't always take the ovaries when doing a hysterectomy. As a matter of fact, they try to leave them when it is a young woman because of the menopause factor. If (and I think that is a big if) they had to do a hysterectomy because of a ruptured uterus or other catastrophic event related to the delivery of the baby etc., they very well could have left the ovaries.

Emma said...

Betsy: A total hysterectomy is only the removal of the uterus and cervix (subtotal leaves the cervix), in a young woman where no disease is present the ovaries can be left so they don't go into premature menopause. A total hysterectomy combined with a salpingoopherectomy removes everything. I have worked as a nurse in gynaecology surgery looking after women pre and post op. In a young fit woman like Jill recovery would normally be quick, although if this has happend (and I sincerely hope it hasn't) I think the psychological recovery would be a very hard road for her to overcome. I hope she is being well looked after.

See if there was a serious concern with Jill or baby, do you think Jim Bob and Michelle would go jetting off to Hawaii? I suspect People didn't make an offer like the Dillards/Seewalds are use to after birth. But after some dealing, they made a small one and put it on their website only. Maybe the Dillard's are still hoping a major publication will come calling. We know In Touch won't, since they are suing them. Maybe that is it. Maybe the publications in the business are snubbing the Duggars due to the lawsuit. But the Dillard's are still hoping for a big payday before they post everything themselves, for 'free' on their website.

"Emma said... In a young fit woman like Jill recovery would normally be quick." Can confirm. This exact thing happened to me in February. I went in totally healthy for a routine /scheduled c-section on Wednesday and ended up with an emergency partial hysterectomy. I was away from the baby in the ICU for 24 hours but was released from the hospital Saturday. I also agree with the comment: " psychological recovery would be a very hard road for her to overcome." This was not an issue for my but I can see it could deeply affect a women. If Jill's baby maker is closed she's likely close to a mental break down. Hope for her, it's not true. Just find the silence really, really odd.

PS Got to love Jim Boo and Me-chelle taking off to Hawaii. Really?! You're children and grandchildren are so expendable you can't stick around and help your daughter out.

We don't know Jill had any surgery beyond the C-section so it's extremely premature to be posting hysterectomy stories plus it's off topic to go into detail about personal experiences most of the time. Those posts aren't going through. Thanks.

"J'chelle and Jim Slob on a Hawaiian vaca wearing their ugly mismatched red shirts." I saw a photo of the two of them in front of a helicopter. He and she look ridiculous! Can we also talk about her plastic surgery? She has definitely done something to her eyes. I wonder what else she's had done?

I know it was only one pic of Jill & Sam but she looked weak and traumatized, no crazy eyed smile at the camera. Maybe the baby does have Zika. I read that all Zika victims do not have the misshaped head, that other problems can be present that aren't visible. Something is wrong in the Dillard house (oops, Jimbob's house) for them to be undercover for 2 weeks after the birth, not showing pics of Israel and his new brother. Michelle & Jimbob are so self centered that yes, they would fly off to Hawaii at this time. Even if the all is well Michelle should be helping Jill out since she had the C-section and postpone the trip til later like normal, caring parents would do.

ThursFriday said...

Does it look like like Michelle and Jim Bob are worried? Jinger and Jeremy? Jana, jessa, or Miss Cathy? They have all posted things of themselves, and been on social media. It is probably just mental stress if the doctor warned against baby making. Or maybe she did have a hysterectomy. But the no article/interview in People is baffling. Almost as if there isn't enough interest to publish one. Maybe this way, with making fans or not fans alike worry and wonder, they will get an article. If that is the case, it is sad.

Another fluff piece, that basically says nothing.

I can't imagine my husband and I leaving for a trip to Hawaii, if our daughter was in the hospital.

Knowing Jim Bob, it is probably a fully paid trip, with some sort of speaking engagement, and they would have lost out on a free trip, to talk about what great parents they are...

Didn't Ben and Jessa and the two babies get a beautiful photo session for People?
Did they get that simply because they are all good-looking and maybe the other family doesn't have the "looks" that the editors want?

Stephanie from Virginia said...

She said it felt like air conditioning. She's been reading the comments about her panty hose and the heat. She gives herself away when she says stuff like that.
She certainly looks, well, dirty! Sweaty, hot, miserable, greasy and plain dirty. I was chalking it up to the heat wave we have had in the south but she said Hawaii is like "air conditioning ". Then why do you look like your sweaty and dirty Michelle?

Have they resorted back to home made shampoo, perms, and laundry soap? That is part of the problem and why they may look dirty. With all their hair they need really really good shampoo and conditioner. If they want a perm, let a professional do it with good supplies. But Jimbob must have them back on a budget after losing their TV show and that money loss has effected Michelle. She has reverted back to looking like her and the teenagers circa 2009

Dana Altondddddd said...

LOL Stephanie. Hope Jimbob allows Mullet to wear deodorant and not the homemade baking soda kind. There are man ortho shoes available that do not look like shoes out of Herman Muunster's collection. Just think how cute she could look with a short, perky hairdo and normal clothing.

This would NOT be the first time Michelle and Jim Bob have left a child who needed them. Remember how she dropped Jordyn and ALL THE OTHER children when Josie was born? Remember when she left that 'precious' Josie with Jana and she had the seizure? What would possibly keep Michelle from enjoying HER trip to Hawaii? Not an adult daughter who had a difficult birthing situation go on, whatever it turned out to be...now, that would mean that this woman would have to put her children FIRST in her life and we all know they are NOT first on her list and never were.

I would have lost my mind if my daughter headed for back to CA after a difficult C-Section, became pregnant again, returned to CA, then back here for the birth & ended up with another C-section (supposedly not planned.)She was very aware that she needed a good space of time for her uterus to heal, in order not to have to deal with a ruptured uterus & she was also very aware of the Zika virus. Regardless of whether or not she had any issues with that or not, it was a terrible chance to take. Think of all the people who have no choice but to stay in those countries & deal with these illnesses. Given the chance I say she'd do the same thing over again.

Has anyone seen an update on Erin Paine's little girl?

Ok; had to pass it on here as soon as I read it...someone posted that perhaps the radio silence about Jill and Sam are due to legal issues. They state that attempting a home birth after an emergency C-section is illegal in Arkansas and the authorities are looking in to this. Does anyone know if this is true?

It is illegal for a licensed medical professional or licensed midwife to attend a homebirth attempt after any c-section (VBAC) emergency or not. Whether Jill helped put someone's license at risk or not I don't think we have enough info to know. Depending on who she had assisting her if she had someone, there could be an issue of practicing medicine without a license.

Why can't the married siblings invite Jana out with them and introduce her to a nice fundy man all proper and within Gothard guidelines as her siblings would be her accountability people? Jana seems to be the most severely brainwashed of them all, wasting her good years locked away from the world, like she is on "house arrest". Sad.

I wouldn't put it past the Dillard's, but do you mean a midwife would attempt home birth knowing or NOT knowing it was illegal given Jill's medical history?

Elspeth is correct. So, it's wait and see time.
As usual, Michelle is never around when her girls are making important decisions like whether to attempt a homebirth after a section. These unfortunate, unaware young ladies truly believe that they know EVERYTHING about their bodies and (especially) childbirth. Can't tell 'em nuthin'. Amazing, isn't it, that a woman who has spent most of her lifetime in a state of pregnancy suddenly has nothing to say about the subject. She is so jealous of her girls that she can't be bothered to take an interest and actually advise Jill against a homebirth. Praying that Jill is okay.

if some midwife attemept to do a birth and that child ended up dying they would be in big trouble? that happened a few years ago in my state. never forget that story. I only words for derrick and Jill shame on you because if you love your child you would be in a hospital having a reguelr brith and doing the best that you can. And any mother would be telling her child that. instead of having child brides and running off and having babies do the right thing as parents Jim bo and Michele. Only one I can see having a reguler birth in at family is Jinger Jermery is the only one who really seems normal. Ben on lasts nights show just sat around and give a big smile like a dumb teenager.

Of course, I believe that we all want Jill and Sam to be healthy and ok. I also think it's Jill and any 'professional, practicing' delivery person who would be investigated here. Jill has some sort of delivery/midwifery training, so she should be held accountable to a degree to know what's legal and not legal regarding childbirth in her state....If this suggestion is true about Jill and a legal matter, she is one dumb girl/child. I would be concerned about my grandchildrens' welfare if I were Cathy having that idiot for a daughter-in-law with MY GRANDCHILDREN.

They also stated that Jill was close to deliver that's why she wasn't on the recap shows. This is WRONG...she was on her babymoon with DDD. No reason why they couldn't have done the show. Correct timing seem to be an issue with Jilly.

Has anyone seen Jill's instagram of a sticky note with bible verse? Kk me of sounds like she's experiencing some kind of difficulty. If you read her bio she says she's the mom of Israel, No mention of the new baby. No pix of new baby.
