Posting Guidelines and Why Comments Get Rejected

These are just a few of the reasons: profanity, not using capitalization and punctuation, telling us to get a life, rude comments, religious debates, "me too" comments, overly excited and full of capital letters and exclamation points, calling people names and being rude to another poster. Please do not address each other personally, especially in disagreements. Comments are to the blog in general. Using derogatory names for the Duggars may result in rejected comments. Ma and Pa Duggar have been used by several people lately and those likely will get rejected also.

Comments and prospective posts that discuss the show both pro and con are welcome and appreciated. Please just give them a once over to see that generally they follow normal grammar and spelling and add to the conversation. Too often we'll be reading a comment and just one sentence goes too far and gets it rejected. I also want to remind our gentle readers that we cannot edit comments. Our only choices are post and reject. So if there is one bit of bad in with a lot of good, it still will likely not go through. I do wish Blogger offered an edit feature.Thank you.

If you have questions about why a comment did not go through, please send the comment to one of the administators. We can not respond to you from comments sent through blogger.

Reality TV seems to both change people and as the viewers' familiarity with the families grows many peoples' perceptions seem to change over time. Have your perceptions of the Duggars changed and do you think it's due to the Duggars themselves changing or becoming more and more aware of who the Duggars really are or a combination of both?

Why is it that people can't just other people alone. Yes they signed up for a reality series which make them in the "Lime" light. But they are only doing it because of their Faith and love for their family. There are SO many other shows that I agree are staged and wrong. But what have the Duggar's really done wrong? The love their kids. They are happy, healthy and loving. I have 5 myself. 2 I gave birth to and 3 from my marriage. I want more. Is that wrong? Why do people think they can dictate a person's life and pull it into a microscope? Just because they are on TV. They are on TV to give their message about God and raising a family with GOD as the focus. This entire country has got way to use to leaving GOD out of everything. Schools, government and REALLY your going to complain a reality show that ONLY shows good morals?? Do ANY of you have teenagers?? I would be blessed to have mine mind and appreciate what they have. Get off the Duggar's....It's so idiotic to break down the facid of their lives as to...I don't think they really clean, or they can't be like that in real life. Give me break! I was raised not far from them, though I have never met them. I only had one sibling but the beliefs they teach their children were taught to my brother and I. Find someone else to pick apart.

People keep insisting upon asking in a comment why a previous comment was not approved. One reader left over this issue even though I have repeatedly requested and stated that such questions should be addressed via email or at least by sending the mods an email address to respond. The blog is not the place for that discussion. So once again here is why your comment may have been rejected. Using anonymous since we have asked you not to do so. Using a blog or website as your signature trying to use us as free advertising. Using one of the children's names or possibly a commentary on another blog as your screen name. Off topic. This blog is not about us, our families, our experiences except as they tightly relate to the Duggars. Talking down to other commenters, calling them names, and being derogatory about other commenters. In general, being rude.

So, most recent questioner, I was still pondering your comment but your first choice of screen name was inappropriate especially here. Secondly, there is no proof that your assumption is correct and I still had it on hold while pondering it. Your second comment can not go through as written due to being very "boards on boards" or addressed to the mods and talking about the business of the blog.

We Have Reached the Point in the Life of the Show Where

we get some ridiculous comments and trolls show up just to try to tell us off. With the Gosselins I would occasionally post one just so the readers could comment on it. I'll be putting some of the comments here. I really do not mind a balanced discussion but when people simply want to call names or be holier than thou, I cut them no slack.

So what if the Duggars want to have 20 children? What is all of that to any of you who act "disgusted"? Someone pointed out that there are 7 billion people on the earth today. One more Duggar will not make any more difference than any other family having another baby. If anything, I am disgusted at all of you who have nothing but ill to say about this family. Sounds like jealousy to me. I wonder if this post will make it into the comments?

There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with these people."Group think" at it's worst.I mean BESIDES their willingness to pop out an annual Baby For Bucks.So they want as many kids as they can have - why is that wrong?Not at ALL 'encouraging'. One more (model J20)undereducated person will be walking the planet, thanks to these two anything-for-a-buck-and-spotlight. You say the Duggar kids are "undereducated". Do you know them personally? Have you ever talked to any of them, asked them questions? Are you inferring that you are of superior intellect and moral fiber that you can pass judgement on them? The Duggar's are private citizens doing what they are allowed to do in a mostly free country. I don't see any armed guards keeping the older kids under lock and key, no reports of abuse, no reports of threats or mistreatment or anything else. Their cousin Amy is as wild as they come, and she still hangs out with them. Yet the concensus of all of the other posters is that their behavior and lifestyle is wrong. I think most of you are wrong for questioning the Duggar's like this. Thye are certainly not the Gosselin's.

What Has Gotten Comments Kicked Lately

A reader asked for what some one liners or things would get an otherwise good comment rejected. Using JB or M or other abbreviations of names. Using derogatory nicknames for the Duggars. Calling their belief system a cult or other similar term. The one this morning was ending an otherwise acceptable comment with stupid ultra conservative Christian men. I will add to the list as we go along.

I would say as a generality it's frequently being overly derogatory or inflammatory in a comment, going boards on boards, or saying something in a comment that the writer ties to the Duggars but from experience we know will lead the blog off topic in a heartbeat.

Dead Horse Discussions

This is especially important to new readers. Some issues have been nitpicked, beaten, slain, buried, resurrected, reburied, etc, many times. These are called dead horses as in how long are you going to beat that dead horse? We tried letting the group decide what was a dead horse, but that didn't work very well. We have arrived now at the point where if I or another mod can't bear to read one more comment on a subject, it's officially a dead horse. As I phrase it, you are dancing on my last nerve. Please do not bring up these issues again. If you are a new reader and want to know what the previous discussion was, please search the blog or email another reader or a mod and ask.

Dead horse list:
The mini-mart liquor license (buried three or four times now).
Interpreting or not the house rules about emotion and behavior.
Home schooling unless it's something new seen on the show or in the news.
Whether the Duggars pay property tax (they do).
The state of Michelle's uterus. She's had 19 kids. That should say it all don't you think?
What other ATI/Quiverful/Vision Forum/whatever fundamentalists do. They are irrelevant. We're here to talk Duggars specifically.

Josie Turns One Today

Little Josie Duggar -- the miracle baby and star of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting -- is celebrating her first birthday Friday and her mother Michelle tells RadarOnline.com all about the milestone!

"We are just so excited and we're so grateful to God to have her," the reality television mom said, in an exclusive interview.

"Reaching this landmark occasion her first birthday, I look back at the pictures and the video footage from the beginning to now and it an incredible journey."

Michelle, the mother to all 19 children, said Josie Brooklyn now weighs a healthy 15 pounds 12 ounces, and is wearing baby clothes for a six month old.

The "littlest little" as Josie is called on 19 Kids and Counting is like a "chunky little peanut," her mom said.

She said, "You know that song I'm a little teapot short and stout? Well that could be her little song! She is definitely short and plump now, she's got all these little rolls, it is so cute."

Dad Jim Bob and the older Duggar kids are on a mission in Hondorus and El Salvador, Guatemala; they won't return until December 15, which has delayed a big party for their much loved baby.

Said Michelle: "We'll have ice cream and Grandma and Amy and everyone else will come out to the house and celebrate. She has a little balloon that says 'Happy Birthday Josie'."

Josie is becoming quite the chatterbox, Michelle revealed.

"She can say 'Dada,' and she says 'Hi' and she waves hi when you say it to her now," she said.

"She's learning. We've heard her say 'Mama' three times and every time that she's done it I've run and I get my phone and I try to get her to say it again but she won't say it again.

"She claps her hands and she has her favorite book called the Ticklish book. That book will make her start jumping, squirming, kicking. She gets the biggest grin.

"She is rolling all over the place. She's not crawling yet. She spots something she wants and she just rolls over to it. It's so cute a cute little roll to get to it. She can sit up and we leave her up for a while. Then she plops over."

Michelle also reflected on the tough times the parents had when Josie was born, despite their previous experience.

"The touch-and-go of not knowing if she would live and the reality that when she had her bowel perforated on day eight the reality of the fact that she might not make it was so real that I think we took it one minute, one second, one day at a time," she said.
"We thanked God. It put it all in perspective. You can't determine the outcome in a situation like that. You just thank God for the moments you had with them. We took a lot of pictures and just tried to cherish every minute that we had her with us."

Both Michelle and Jim Bob have previously told RadarOnline.com they would welcome more children, but there isn't a little sibling on the way -- for now.

"We would just absolutely love that, but we're not right now," Michelle said.

"I don't ever feel bad when anybody asks me that question because our hearts are still the same in that regard as far as valuing life and cherishing life. We would be so grateful to God if he saw fit to bless us with another gift. At this time that hasn't happened.

"I am 44 going on 45 in September next year, and I'm thinking I'm not a spring chicken anymore and I know that could be a factor in all of that."

Questions - There Are Questions

I'm genuinely curious. For a website titled, "Duggars without pity," why are there so many posters who seem determined to defend each and every move the Duggars make, and each and every single comment that is critical? I see comments where single sentences are quoted from another poster and the sole purpose is to "prove" that the original poster is wrong. It strikes me that the name of the blog is not "In relentless support of the Duggars." I read the posting guidelines and didn't see anything that addressed this issue.
