but "reality tv"? LOL! How about "deception tv". The whole hokey thing with Jill going into her parents bedroom, where the door was closed and saying she was in love with someone she had never met and right on the spot, without checking a thing Pops says ok. I know what my Bible says about deception and that is certainly not the only thing I have noticed that just wasn't right?
How is it that Jim Bob made such a big deal about "giving Jill away" when she's always back at her parents' home? Jessa, even more, I suspect, as she must be showing up for dinner every night. They are always there. I don't see any independent break away on the horizon at all. Baby Dilly will just cement it more, IMO. Giving Jill away? Baloney.
Defrauding, according to Michelle, is to stir up desires that can't righteously be fulfilled. Are they clueless that there are perverts who have foot fetishes and love seeing them barefoot or In flip flops or other shoes where they can ogle them. They worry so much about swimwear, yet who knows how many tune in to see the toes
Good point about the "toes". It's like locking the front barn door and leaving the back door wide open...these people never cease to amaze me.
I knew someone who had a foot fetish, it is creepy, I always made sure I had full shoes on when I knew he would be at the same place.

The picture of Jim Bob and Michelle re-creating the picture of Jessa and Ben kissing creeps me out everytime I see it. It looks like Michelle and Jim Bob are in the middle of the
"act" of lovemaking and makes me feel dirty.
However, the one of Jessa and Ben doesn't bother me.
The Duggars don't church in their home any more and haven't for years. They hold church in a converted warehouse type structure. They don't have a set giving plan there so I doubt anyone tithes.
Does anyone know why the Today show is no longer involved with the family? Do the magazine's pay more for "interviews and pictures" ?
If they did it would be a chunk based on 10% as they make a fabulous amount per episode.....plus all the money from their properties and cell tower income. Jill and Jessa used two of the churches around there as their wedding venue. I was married in my home church where we tithed.
He didn't give Josh away. It seems like if the cameras are rolling he is there.
I saw something posted about the Duggars on the Today show site in December.
Some people say Michelle doesn't have one on one time with their kids. But I have seen Michelle spend more time talking to Jessa than any of the Duggar girls. I do remember the skydiving incident also when just the two of them went for Jessa's bday. I think it is sweet but why doesn't she do any of these things for any other kid?
Has she ever spent one on one time with Jana? I barely recall seeing them together. I know she expects a lot of her with household duties and child raising so I wish she would pamper her one day and just the two of them go to a nice restaurant or shopping or something. Jana deserves that so much!
Even nicer if Jana had a close girlfriend or two, and said "I'm taking off for a few days with my friends; be back on Sunday!" and then left, like any other woman of her age would do. I wish she knew she had the power and legal rights to do that, and knew that she would not burn in hell for going off with her parents or a chaperone.
I have commented on the foot fetish before. There are probably pervs out their who like the virgin talk, purity talk, pregnant women/baby bump, and certainly pervs who like to spot women breastfeeding.
My point is that you can't dodge every bad thought that goes through a mans brain. They assume these other fetishes dont exsist?
I will get alot of disagreements on this comment but do you think the older girls are closer to Michelle than we think? They remember living on and below the poverty line. Maybe they think mama and daddy saved us from marrying at 18? Michelle counts on them and has for years.

My daughter is in high school and she's smart enough to know who to ask to do what. Kids can divide and conquer a couple very quickly so I always keep in mind.
We'd love to see the older single children get to go out to dinner or get to do some fun things with their parents. The married children could watch the little kids. Grandma Duggar should get to go with the adults.
I saw a picture of Derrick carving a turkey and I. The background is another kid standing on top of the counter. They are so trashy.
Stephanie, you got it wrong. Michelle did not "smooth over" the pre-engagement hand holding. When they were at the restaurant, after Jim Bob said "let's hold hands for prayer", Michelle kept looking at Jim Bob and saying, "no, not them, not them" and then she asked Jim Bob, "Daddy what do we do?". So ultimately it was Jim Bob that gave the go ahead for the hand holding and it was Michelle who flipped out over them holding hands.

I've seen many bottoms on the table and on counters. One of the first I noticed was when Hanny was tiny and had crawled up and was sitting or standing on the table. It seems like it was Jana who told her to get down. Wasn't Jackson the one eating cereal from off the floor? From the dirty feet we have seen I hate to think what is on the floor.
I wouldn't trust his surprises at all after he surprised them on e before, that they were going to go give blood. There is no way my Dad would have ever done that to us.

You may be right I do think Jim Bob wanted to them to release hands 100%. Michelle is always going to back Jim Bob up thats what what I do for my husband. But privately he knows what I think because I tell him.
I think Michelle just stopped a major tug of war that was going to happen. It was cringeworthy the more I looked at it. Michelle laughing trying to play it off, Jim Bob stewing and ticked off and then Jessas face was intense. She was NOT giving in that night.
I honestly believe that jessa and Ben had Bern holding hands before and maybe they have kissed before the wedding hence the non wedding ceremony kiss. As if they didn't want that lie in their ceremony. I dont know. I will just stick to the cringeworthy dinner. We will never know the truth. Maybe one of Bens siblings will tell all.

Re: Reality TV Junkie's comments. Did you live in a house with that many people? A bunch of little ones in diapers that we could actually see on camera they needed changing..BIG TIME! Also a floor that was absolutely black from dirt that these kids were eating off of. Most of us have seen our kids grab a cookie or something they liked that fell on the floor & eat it. That's not at all what we are speaking about when it comes to the Duggar kids.
I have to agree with Ginger; the floors in that house are likely no cleaner than mine (and my house gets pretty grubby with a dog and 5 cats). there was an episode where they were catching a cricket under the soda fountain, and I was amazed at the dirt/dust-bunnies and general trash under there. that area clearly hadn't seen a broom or mop in months. the five-second rule probably shouldn't exist in many places in their house.
I'm really surprised with the money the Duggars have coming in now, that they don't have a good cleaning crew. I know you could never & would never want your home to be immaculate, but the Duggars home needs a good cleaning & a repeat at least every two weeks. We know they have the money so it's not like I'm saying it should be added to Jana & Joy Anna's household duties. Bring in some outside help & not just some "friends" that love to clean. "
The house IS dirty. Also, the girls never pin their hair up when they cook! If I ever had to drag a waist length piece of hair out of my tater tot casserole, I'd be off my food for a month! Ewwww!

John-David is fat and balding and no one seems to care. Why is it that the women have to take care of themselves, but the boys do not?
Gothard said women should always keep themselves thin and attractive for their husbands. A man won't want to breed with a dumpy, frumy female, dont ya know. There are no rules about men's appearance.

I remember when they were chiseling Joy-Annas cookies out of a pan and made an awful mess for someone else to deal with.
I have had in less friends for a meal than their family has at one meal and felt like I needed to do a lot of cleaning afterwards so I don't know that deep cleaning every couple of weeks would be enough.
Huge difference between eating on the floor and eating off the floor. It was disgusting to watch.
I'd think poor John-David does care about his receding hairline but what is the solution? I do remember a show called something like "Honey, We're Killing the Kids" where a nutritionist showed the parents by age progression how the kids would look by a certain age if they continued to eat the way they were. It was eye opening when you saw baldness in their twenties.

I guess I should have emphasized that a deep cleaning every other week is the very least that needs to be done in the Duggar's house. I just thought that maybe Jim Bob would part for a cleaning every two weeks. Didn't think he'd ever go for more than that.

If you look at the rear left of the photo of Derick carving his turkey you can see one of the Duggar boys standing ON the kitchen counter WITH his sneakers on. Whatever for? How disgusting. Some of those kids behave like circus animals in the house. Just don't understand why it's ok with them to do so.

I've been reading (from dubious sources) that the Duggar family will no longer acknowledge or associate with Susanna Keller although she use to visit them for extended periods of time. Apparently, because she had a baby out-of-wedlock she is to be shunned. What's the problem? She chose LIFE, correct? The hipocracy amazes.

Poor Derick! He seems like such a nice man. He should have never rushed to buy Jill a ring before they had ever spent time courting. He'd have had a chance to see the whole family in action and might have not acted in such haste when he saw people walking around on the counters while food is being prepared. Good grief. Ok let's think this through. I doubt they would be unkind or not associate with her. They probably just aren't around her as they don't load up and go a visiting the Kellers. That is Anna's family. Besides Cousin Amy was born out of wedlock and she is with the Duggars a lot.
There is so much " controversy" going around Facebook today. Do people not understand that it is the Duggars themselves who are putting all the pictures on the internet and that the magazine's just eat it up and post "duggar trouble"? Susannah used to visit the Duggars years ago. She was free and had finished homeschooling and was in that SAHD waiting to be married mode. It made sense for her to go visit her sister and maybe find a future husband. Now, she has a job and a child and a life in Texas. The Duggars don't go to Houston a lot and she probably has zero reason to go to NWA. Her sister doesn't even live there now.

That's not unique to the Duggars. I work at a fast food restaurant with females age 14+ and they sometimes complain there is a double standard about looks. Also, if you go to the library or into a convenience store and look at the "teen magazine section" you will see there is a double standard about males and females.

In June 2012 Jill said they had a ghostwriter/friend in Georgia helping them write their book. I read that Jim Bob and Michelle co-authored A Love That Multiplies but they, too had a ghostwriter. I kept trying to figure out how they have time to write two books since they are so busy.

Recently the duggars & Dillards attended a Razorback basketball game. How do they deal with the clothing the cheerleaders wear? Do they yell Nike during the game? If the Duggars expect the arena to march to the beat of their drum then they live in fantasy land.

The Duggar kids have all the same rights under law as every other US citizen does. Because of their extremely sheltered upbringing and non-existent education, they may not know what those rights are (except apparently for their First Amendment right to freedom of religion and the Second Amendment right to bear arms), or, they may choose to abrogate those rights in favor or practicing obedience to parental authority.
My concern is that they lack a sufficiently developed sense of self-efficacy to decide for themselves--that is, to choose obedience over autonomy. Self-efficacy is taught starting at birth and continuing throughout a person's life. If an individual is trained to trust his or her own instincts, talents, and abilities, and rewarded for succeeding, they can build self-efficacy. If, instead, they are taught that the only acceptable behavior is "immediate obedience with a joyful countenance" to a patriarchal figure, and anything less should be condemned, they do not build self-efficacy.
Personally, I believe that even obedience can be a sign of self-efficacy, but only if the person is aware of all other options and voluntarily chooses to practice obedience.
How much money did the ghostwriter get out of the book?
Did they bring in a stylist for the guys, like they did the girls? Do the guys get to go get their hair done professionally..... Or do they save money and get a kitchen chair hair cut? Where do the guys get to shop or do they just dig through those old bags of clothes that people used to give them see some of the original shows)
When I was 24 I had been working for a well known company for 6 years, had bought and paid for my first brand new car while in high school, had owned two homes ( one of which we had built), I'd been married for 5 years......no babies....Had total freedom to get in the car to drive 10 hours to go see my sister-in-law. I cannot imagine being so sheltered! Oh, and I lived on my own from 18 until I married at 19.....and paid my own bills. Jana, it can be done! I'm sure there are many on here who did much more than I did by age 24. My parents would have never thought about fixing me up with someone.....or attempted to find me a husband.
She used to talk some; like when Josh brought his fiancée home. Did she have yo be around ol Got Hard when she went to do that Journey of the Heart thing that she led? I am not accusing or trying to start any gossip....I just wonder if he has ever said a thing or flirted with her. And if he did and she tried to tell her parents would they stand up for her or sweep it under the carpet?

The probably have the same attitude my son does. He didn't focus on the sexual aspect of the uniforms, he just saw a group of women who were athletic. I gained a whole lot of respect for Michelle when she said "Why wouldn't I take my children to see Dolly Parton? She has a big heart and a big singing voice." Secular people, on the other hand, when they say "Big" and "Dolly Parton" in the same sentence usually don't refer to her voice or heart.
It's obvious that any book associated with the Duggar family would have a "ghost writer/friend." Of course it would have to be a friend as everything they do involves a friend who offered their "help." Also there not one member of the Duggar family that has a decent command of the English language. Not one of them can put together a simple declarative sentence. So it's impossible for any of them to write a book by themselves. I wonder if any of them can even read through any of the "classics." Has someone Jana's age(not picking on Jana just an example) ever read "Pride & Prejudice?"

It seems at the last minute Jim Bob will say; well we have very good friends that offered to help us with. ...fill in the rest!

Ghostwriter does the work and gets no glory. Look who was running around signing autographs. Sure it may be their story but without the ghostwriter doing the work the story would still be there, just not in book form to be sold.

Wouldn't you love to know what Jessa really thinks and not what Jim Bob and Michelle want the world to believe she thinks. Check out the looks she has sometimes. I hope she feels free enough to be honest Now but if they live under one of the roofs Jim Bob owns they may be controlled by him for the ratings (i.e. money).
I wish I could find the video where the kids were playing in the homemade slip ' n slide. I think Michelle came out and announced she was pregnant but I don't remember with which baby.
Jill is putting everything about her life out there that she can. She has led a very sheltered life and may think this is the way to more fans (more celebrity) but it can have repercussions. She acts like a kid set free in a candy store after being restrained for so long. And yes she has a wonderful grasp on technology very quickly with Facebook, twitter and instagram.
I have often wondered if something happened while Jana was away at the ATI school. (Not necessarily from the staff.) She has really seemed as if she has depression since she went away. Something is not right. She smile more and talked more before she went away to the school/camp. She has a wounded look in her eyes and I just can't help but think she was hurt somehow.

To be fair, I'm sure there are Christian/religious folk who draw the same connection between "Big" and "Dolly Parton" and certain "assets" she has, rather than thinking about her voice and her heart :) Not that those things wouldn't eventually come to mind, but just because Michelle pulled out a good line about focusing on Dolly's non-physical talents doesn't mean that her physical appearance was not noticed. Even the Duggars are human, after all :)

Why does Jill dress like she is a homely old housewife, she's 23-years-old! I understand that their wardrobes are modest, but she dresses like an old woman.
Has anyone compared pictures of Jill and Alyssa bates during their pregnancies? I know everyone carries differently but when you compare a pic of Jill at 25 weeks to Alyssa at 25 weeks there is a HUGE difference.

If Jim bob could think of a way to get another boring story that TLC would pay him for he'd be getting that house cleaned....we'd see him iterviewing people and then taking them from room to room just anything to entertain us with how exciting people they are.

Grandma Duggar got to go to the widow's banquet with her chaperones last year. That hour and a half should be plenty enough for her. The laundry piles up when she is out.
That reminds me of a woman who thought it was just fine for her cats to sit up on the counters or in her drain rack. She didn't make the connection. If the cat is sitting it does not sit on it's tail. Its um...anal port....if you get my drift was directly on the counter and drain rack. (wonder if the Duggars still have the cats that were found in Jill's home)...and if they are allowed to roam.
Or at least not allowed to express any thought they have. I think when John-David has been a talking head the poor guy says stupid scripted things the producer thinks would be funny. I think they are degrading like when he said something about Jana not being married. I like John-David and feel like the way he says these things he looks uncomfortable.

When you have dressed that way your entire life you feel uncomfortable in more revealing clothing. I have noticed a little shift. Fancy earrings. Scoop neck shirts without something underneath it. She is evolving.
I think the Duggers also don't watch how much weight they gain during pregnancy. I have noticed this with all is Anna's pregnancies and Michelle as well. My OB stressed that 25-30 pounds is ideal. If the Duggars do indeed not see a medical professional for prenatal they are most likely following the advice of Dr Michelle Duggar. I just remember how big and swollen Anna was with all three of her kids.
Poor Jill. I can't even imagine what her giving birth will be like after her terror at going to the dentist to get her wisdom teeth removed. The others were all stoic but she cried and carried on so much and had to lay her head on her daddy. I just hope she can handle giving birth as it is much different.

Maybe it isn't all her fault. I think she said Jessa was the hair stylist when they were home. She might not know how as it hasn't looked the same since she got away from home.

Yes, it is getting very boring. Same ol same ol. Every detail of a wedding and the pregnancy that occurs within hours is way too much. Please give us something to watch that is interesting.

Ok we may have seen Michelle spending time takling with Jessa but remember this is "reality" tv. Thst means that you only see what they want you to see. Michelle might spend lots of time with the others off camera or she might not spend time with anyone. We really have no idea. Everything will always be heavily scripted and edited to make people want to watch.
Jana is not going to have a close girlfriend. Remember their siblings are their best friends...and when Jim Bob finds her a man she can immediately start calling him her best friend and vice versa ( even if they have never had a private conversation).
Maybe Michelle sees through Jim
Bob but what can she do? She has so many kids and I doubt she'd ever threaten to walk away.
They also have the cell tower which pays handsomely plus all of the properties they own including the commercial buildings there by their house.

The fact that Anna seems to "puff up" during her pregnancies indicates she has fluid retention, which I believe isn't good for her blood pressure. She was still quite young during her first 3 kids, but now she's approaching 30 in a few years and she needs to watch her salt intake and MAYBE see a real ob/gyn for thorough testing and monitoring. Pre-eclampsia isn't something she needs to emulate Michelle on. Jill is all baby. Wonder how Jessa will do?

Got hard is 81 years old! He grew up in the 1930s and 1940s and has had numerous women make allegations against him. Michelle chose to continue to wear that old fashioned frumpy hair style instead of the much cuter style her best friend helped her get.

Women shouldn't have to completely cover their bodies up to prevent men from looking. Men should become more disciplined. If they can't see a girl in a bathing suit without having lustful thoughts about her, maybe HIS morality is in question. It's not a woman's job to keep a man on track. Maybe what we need in this generation is more respectful men, but I f like that is not as much a woman responsibility as it is the man's!
That sleeveless dress with the scarf that she had on when derick proposed was like a sack. One could see through it and I imagine the more revealing parts where one could se were edited out. It appeared to be a cold day so that she had to wear a jacket. And there were the barely there sandals to compete the sleeveless dress ensemble. And confusing the wedding "something, borrowed, something blue" she borrowed her little sisters head decoration for the proposal.
Anna seems so sweet and I felt so sorry for her giving birth.
Love those pictures. Long hair takes awhile to dry. I wonder how often the Duggar women wash their hair.
Michelle does exercise while pregnant. Jill has an instagram selfie she took at the gym. She was listening to something with headphones so it appeared she was at a gym all alone.
Michelle exercised while pregnant with Jubilee. We never saw her doing so with any other pregnancy. I believe she was trying to be as healthy as possible because they were getting a lot of flak due to her age and short time between pregnancies. Of course, we know how that worked out for her.
Jill is most likely working out in the Duggar Family home gym that was pieced together by Jim Bob. All equipment was bought used so he could save the difference. No one has any training on how to properly use said equipment or knows if said equipment is in good working order. The important thing is that Jill can work out privately, with no strange males in the vicinity to get turned on by the sight of her bloated, pregnant body pumping iron.
I read recently that Jill and the other duggars listen to sermons on their iPods when they work out. Does anyone else find it strange that these people have no other interests besides religion? They are like shells of real people. Nothing wrong with being religious, but the duggars have nothing else; unless you count using politics to turn their religious beliefs into laws
Jill was obviously in a gym and not the Duggar warehouse work-out area. Several people who live in the area say it looks like the Wal-Mart corporate gym for employees and their families.
I agree with the comment about the Duggars "O.D.ing" on religion, scripture, etc. This is the only "meal" they serve up and consume. I don't think that's what Jesus had in mind either. IMO,, they are scared to death of everything and remain in a very small closed world. Also, not what Jesus had in mind.
Working out to a lecture or sermon would put me to sleep; not because it would be religious, but because it wouldn't be physically or mentally stimulating for me. (NO SEX INVOLVED). Had to clarify that so the Duggars don't think I'm being unrighteously fulfilled.
She clings to his arm, plops herself into his lap, has to be touching his thigh...takes him to work...works out at his company...has lunch with him...picks him up and takes him home. For someone who could go all the way to Nepal to live I wonder how long he can take the smothering clingyness.

To be fair, I'm sure there are Christian/religious folk who draw the same connection between "Big" and "Dolly Parton" and certain "assets" she has, rather than thinking about her voice and her heart :) Not that those things wouldn't eventually come to mind, but just because Michelle pulled out a good line about focusing on Dolly's non-physical talents doesn't mean that her physical appearance was not noticed. Even the Duggars are human, after all :)
True. I only brought it up because the other person made a comment about the cheer team at a sporting event. The Duggars went there to watch the players, not the prancers. You don't shout out "NIKE" or whatever family acronym you use all the time. There are other ways, such as refocusing, which seems to be the method Jim Bob and Michelle are using for the younger ones and NIKE has fallen by the wayside.
I really hope there is more depth to the duggars then we see on TV. The main duggar household may function well with all the adults with child like interests and mentality, but that will change as the adult children marry. For example, what do jill and derrick talk about besides religion? Jill cannot relate to derrik's college experience, work life, pre-marital social life, etc. She has never experienced any of those things. Besides religion, what can they talk about? I wonder if they have any common interests besides mission work.
If Jill clings to Derick as much as some say, then Derick maybe more excited for the birth of this baby than Jill. At least it will gives her something to do other than act like a love sick teenager.

The only picture I saw, they looked like an ordinary couple enjoying a game. I might look like I'm in pain because my team just missed a shot, or the other team scored, or I heard someone swear because a team isn't doing well and I'm worried about what my son might think or when I was pregnant, "I have to go to the bathroom AGAIN but I don't want to miss anything (I went to a stock car race when I was 8 months pregnant).
I don't see Jill ever doing any true mission work as she would have to have the entire family with her. I think it was like when you ask a little kid what they want to be when they grow up and they many will say something like "nurse" or "fireman" or a vet but when they are a few years older and realize what it takes they change their mind. Several of the kids including Jill have been stunted emotionally so she is very childish in what she says and does. I'm not blaming her. She hasn't been allowed to grow up. She talks like one of the little girls, wears those silly hair bows and flowers that are real cute on baby girls but ridiculous on a big girl.
She thinks that look is real attractive. It is seen in several pictures of her even before she got pregnant. It I'd just creepy looking. And she even got The beautiful Joy Anna doing it in one picture and it made her look strange.
If they are fearful it is easy to keep control of them. I believe the Bible says God hasn't given us a spirit of fear...

What common interests do Jill and Derick share? Well I am not sure but I do know she does more secular things like go to basketball games. Also, Derick took her to a broadway play, which I do believe the Duggar would never do. So I think Derick is introducing Jill to a whole new world. It even looks like she might be enjoying it. Hopefully.

Attention Duggar children: I hope one of you will someday be able to get on the internet without your parents monitoring every keystroke. I hope you see this. There is a law called Coogan's law that protects child performers. It was named after a famous child actor named Jackie Coogan. It is in effect in california. I am not sure where TLC is located but it might be worth checking into. Since the show is scripted and edited there is a good chance that you'd be considered child performers. Read up on it as the money that is paid for you all being on there is supposed to be yours. Afterall there would be no show if thhre weren't all you kids. You might as well take your share and get a good start in life.
He is her very first boyfriend. She acts at 23 like some us did when we were 13. Hopefully, derickdillard never had a girlfriend so he thinks all of her insane goofiness is ok. I still can't believe he let her go hogwild with greed on what all she expected guests and fans to give her for wedding gifts.
The Coogan law doesn't apply to reality shows filmed in Arkansas.

You're right it wasn't the Duggar home gym. It looks like she was on an upper floor for runners and walkers. "Walkers Only" can be seen on the floor behind her.
Also, Anonymous above mentioned a picture showing Jill wearing pants. I saw that. She had on a long coat about mid thigh and pants and from I what I could see and am guessing gym or walking shoes.
I keep hearing people say that Jill looks like Sarah Jessica Parker.
Also, Derick took her to a broadway play, which I do believe the Duggar would never do.

The Duggars went to see Mary Poppins a few years ago when they were in Manhattan. Michelle shared a story where they thought intermission was the end of the play, but then they realized there was a second half.
It was one of the more embarrassing things that Michelle actually admitted to...
That would make sense to wear something like that to walk at the gym, instead of a long skirt and flip flops.
yeah it definitely looks like Jill is wearing leggings without any skirt..thank goodness. Like someone else said, makes more sense...way more sense than wearing a skirt to the gym! Derick is her headship now and he seems very sensible so I am sure he will be accepting of pants. Especially since his own mother wears them!

Happy Birthday to Jana and John David. Poor folks. 25 and still living under the thumb of their parents. Hopefully this will be the year Jana breaks free. I noticed on someone instagram account, there was a photo of some of the Duggars and Tabitha Paine. . . perhaps a courtship for John David. Too bad, it wasn't a guy for Jana. The stay at home daughter movement seems to be very big amongst this crowd, so what happens to the sons? Is it more difficult for adult daughter of this cult to find life partners? Really what does a stay at home daughter have to offer a grown man?

So Jim Bob and Michelle took out John-David and Jana to Cracker Barrel for their birthday. Grandma even got to go! Isn't that special? We saw an episode for Jilly Muffin's birthday where she was taken out to a more elegant place with just with Mama and Daddy and Daddy went out and bought his adored baby girl a special gift, on is own. Wonder if he did the same for Jana....and what about John-David?
Letting Jana out for a little while to be with adults (well, people who are of adult age anyway) was nice, since she can't go with the marrieds when they all rush out for date night and leave her behind since she has the courage to not accept an arranged marriage.
I like these two young people a lot as they understand what Michelle told Josie (and what Jill doesn't grasp)....that the world does not revolve around them.
I don't know which would be easier to find in this movement. A husband for your daughter or a wife for your son.
I do know that I would love to have Jana for a daughter-in-law, but would never let John David near my daughter.

I don't see John-David as creepy at all. If he was like Josh he would have already grabbed someone to marry. Josh was 19 and John-David is already 25. Did you see his face when Michelle was so excited to announce another baby when the kids were outside on that homemade slip n'slide? He looked like he was upset. I don't believe he or Jana were very happy over the non-stop baby making. Maybe they haven't bought into it, like Jill did. I have never heard him or Jana even hint that when they are married they want whatever they are given. They clearly see it from the side of the slaves. (And no, I don't think he has it as tough as Jana, but I think he has compassion for her. Watch him sometime. His job, according to Jim Bob is to work real hard to get in a position to support a bazillion kids. Maybe he doesn't want but a couple and if he marries he will be expected to do the Duggar thing.

I agree I think John David is a very nice, hard working young man. These qualities are pretty charming if you ask me. The fact that he doesn't seem to be a womanizer is also a rare character trait anymore. He seems like he would make any girl a decent husband. He seems like he would be a faithful, loving husband and father.

Remember Jill catching sight of a camera out of the corner of her eye and she started her non-stop Know-it-all blabbering about their El Salvador trip.......the weather, food and beach was wonderful. Great job exposing the vacation for what it was. And isn't that precious that there is a video posted that shows they really were there I guess hoping people will believe they were there really helping the people. However I didn't see any real interaction.
I'm sure John David is a very nice young man. That said, he doesn't come across as having any personality at all. Now, that could just be the camera and his discomfort with it or not being interested in the whole tv thing or a million other reasons, but he comes across to me as not very interesting as well as sort of young.
Jana Duggar a "concert pianist"??? Just one more proof of just how ignorant the Duggars are, failing to comprehend there is far more to a "concert pianist" than playing religious songs for friends, family, and churches. Ignorance, thy name is Duggar.
When these dim bulb parents allow Jana to go away to a coed, non religious (i.e. REAL) college to earn a degree in piano pedagogy, LMK. Until then, the Duggars remain a sad Arkansas joke.

You are absolutely correct about Jill & her devotion to her missionary work. It's exactly what the little kids have said over the years. Once when the producer asked each child what they wanted to be when they grew up, from Joseph down to Jackson, each one said they were going to be a missionary. Jackson said either a policeman or a fireman but, probably a policeman because they can shoot a gun. That's when Hannie said she wanted to be a doctor. When I think about it she said; "I'm going to be a doctor!" She was emphatic about it & had so much spunk & self-confidence. Now Hannie seems to have fallen into line, just as Joy did when Michelle decided that Joy's days of being a tomboy were over. As far as all the boys that were planning on being missionaries, it amazed me that they really seemed to think that all they had to do was grab their bibles & hop a plane to South America & they would be missionaries. I'll never forget, Jim Bob & Michelle were both just beaming at the thought that they had produced all these soon to be missionaries. They never said anything to them about how they would need to further their education. So we'll see how many end up as missionaries.
Also regarding those flowere & bows that Jill likes so much, truthfully they really are not that attractive on babies or little girls either. MacKenzie, Jordyn, Jennifer are just beautiful little girls, but half the time you can't even see their faces because of these floweres & bows.
Yeah, I think she's played at a few church concerts and they just call her that. Like getting paid to play once and calling yourself a professional. Technically, it's correct but generally you think of a professional as someone who makes their living doing it.
Jana could go to a religious-affliated school and study music. I went to a Baptist university that had a fantastic music program. The only things we couldn't do were smoke and drink and we had single-sex dorms. It wasn't any rigid-rule-following-controlling place. I wouldn't have lasted a week if it had been!
But whats sadder is the kids think their parents are doing them a good service. Investing in them blah blah. Theyre being ripped off!
I too attend a Christian college, and those are the only rules here also. Dating couples kiss, hold hands, and can go out alone.
re: Leigh Ann's comments. The Baptist University Leigh Ann is speaking about& what the Duggar girls would be allowed to attend are still worlds apart. If the Duggars girls were ever allowed to attend a University, & that's a really big: "IF," it would need to be a very-rule-following-controlling place. Neva gonna happen for any of those kids. It's really so sad, as the Duggars really appear to believe that they have given their kids every advantage in life. Actually they may have provided a roof over their heads & food, but there is such a huge loss of potential there in that home. Certainly with the right education & encouragement some of those kids could have real careers. Not just something like an executive director position that some group hands them for the publicity they can bring to their causes. Don't any of them realize there are other accomplishments in life beside; "makin babies or birthin babies." I remember the one time I saw Jill studying a book for her midwife training & she was saying it was a lot of hard work,& very difficult. Well we saw how long she lasted at that.
