Andrea, Ben talks with FLAME--actually, Ben listens while FLAME rambles. Ben didn't guide the interview at all. FLAME was all over the place, not focused, but touching on a variety of subjects kind of related to racial tension and racial prejudice. Ben seems to have a need for attention and fame. He should grow up, lose the stupid backward hat and the christianized gangsta talk and get an education before having opinions that he desperately wants to shove down our throats.

I'm not advocating for one minute that young unmarried girls or even older women, unmarried, but giving birth to a baby is the correct way to bring a baby into this world. But I believe when you look into the face of a beautiful newborn, you are looking at life renewing itself, no matter whether the mom & dad are married or not. Of course, a young high school girl is going to have a very difficult time raising a child. But with help from a loving family she'll make it through. God forgive the Duggars for the terrible things they say & think about unwed mom's & the babies born to these women

Joe is going to operated the Duggar Tour Bus, which will take Duggar fans around Tontitown and vicinity, showing the famous Duggar historic sites, like Joshy's used car lot, the site of the old Duggar ranch house where the Duggar girls were molested (now part of some church), the pizza place where JB gets free food for his kids under a certain age, Jill's mansion, Jessa's hovel, their favorite thrift stores (we'll stop here for 15 minutes so the guests can peruse the used shoes), the house where Michelle used to wash cars in her bikini on the front lawn, Cousin Amy's house (if we're lucky, Cousin Amy will come out and sing a few bars of that toe-tapper "Washed by the Blood"), the fire station where Jill and Jana learned how to turn pants into skirts, and, finally, the windowless warehouse space where guests get to stay when they come to town (unless they bring their own bus). As an extra, added bonus, John David will pull-over the bus in his police car and give every young girl onboard the bus a speeding ticket that's really a religious tract.

Meme said...

Too bad: I had to look after reading your post. I observed that Jana has turned into a lovely, almost stunning young lady. I LOVE the picture with John David. She just glows. And dare I say it? She looks almost "worldly" now - you know, normal, without the plastered bangs and curlyque hair. Really liked the changes.
Now as for Michelle, what can be said? Same flyaway, too-long hair. I think she believes that that hair is keeping her young-looking. Uh, no.

Murphy said...

Agreed Jana is stunning but will remain the Cinderella of the Duggar family. It is Jim Bob & Minnie Miuse voice Michelke that will retain Jana as their slave & prisoner. Michelle's long hair is unattractive & definitely Ages her.

Rudy ,that was hilarious! I've always felt JB thinks he is on par with Elvis,as far as fame goes, and will turn the Duggar compound,I mean "mansion",into a Graceland of sorts, and give guided tours to the public someday, whenever most of the brood leaves home."Here is where we made poor Gma slave over the laundry","here is where we made our greasy TT casserole",etc

Rudy Tecat. Toooooooo funny! But you forgot the oral surgeon office where dimwit Josh forgot and drank sweet tea before his surgery and Muffin laid her head on daddy's shoulder and cried! And don't forget the restaurant where Benny and Jessa held hands while praying. That has to be a sacred spot!!!

If I remember correctly the tears that were shed when Josh & Joe were supposed to have the oral surgery were because, Anna hadn't watched over Josh carefully enough to make sure he didn't eat or drink anything before the surgery. As far as Jill crying on daddy's shoulder, that was because none of the sister moms watched over Joe closely enough, to make sure he didn't eat or drink anything before surgery. It was all on Anna & the sister-mom's shoulders to watch over Josh & Joe & make sure they read the directions & FOLLOWD THEM! I don't know about other mom's, but it's always been my responsibility to make sure my kids read & understood the directions before any procedure. If they were very young (not the case with Josh & Joe) I watched over them constantly to make sure they never even had a cracker. Where was Michelle? She knew Joe was supposed to have oral surgery. Does any one remember how angry Jim Bob was when the oral surgeon wouldn't do the surgery anyway? He told Josh & Joe,"well just go to the bathroom" WHAT?? The Dr. then explained in great detail, that because they were going to be under anesthesia, it was entirely possible they might aspirate from the sweet tea they drank. Eventually they rescheduled, & when they came back a week later, "Josh the joker," brought a gallon of sweet tea for the oral surgeon, as an apology for all the time they wasted on the day they were supposed to have surgery. As always with the Duggars, it was a huge joke & everyone had a good laugh, except the Oral Surgeon & his staff, as they had wasted hours out of their day.

Rudy Tecats quote....the house where Michelle used to wash cars in her bikini on the front lawn..

I hope they point out the houses where the neighbor men were defrauded by looking at Michelle....and maybe they could travel that route that precious Jilly Bumpkin sped along several times a day to take Derick to work, rush his baked potato to him for lunch, then pick him up from work...all while taking numerous selfies of goofy "surprised" look she thinks is so cute. I hope they point out where the cat got in Derick's way, where Dummy Duggar was posted as a lookout, until he was removed from his post.

If they ever give tours of the homes I'm sure for an extra ten spot ol' Jim Bob would let us see the toilet where Michael was born.

Anyone know anything about Poof Sierra's business? I would love to know if Arkansas Health Dept inspects the area of her house where she is dipping strawberries. What we saw looked like it was in her house as there is a bouncer seat by them and then looks like they are draining on old bath towels. Doesn't she have 5 kids plus the two of them....I have to wonder if those towels have dried various body parts?

She sells them in NWA (Northwest Ark) They are very sloppily (hastily?) done and some of the berries look like they probably should not have been used from looking at the top where the leaves are. The berries have lots of white to them.

I'd be curious if there is an expiration date on the packages and how they know when they are past their sell-by date.

Wonder where they say "factory" is. Maybe the city inspectors should be asked about what laws regulate public sale of home-made foods, and if there is any oversight/inspection of the preparation facilities, and mention those dead strawberries.

Hope nobody gets listeria.

(I see three of the pictures were of "Gifts" she gave the Duggars. This appears to be schmoozing her way onto the show as they seem to have been done before she started starring as their wedding planner.

Some of you have heard about the frightening mosquito borne, Zika virus that causes fetuses to develop abnormally small brains (microcephaly). The virus is now rapidly spreading through Latin America where thousands of infants in the past few months have been born with undersized brains and mental retardation. Scientists also believe the Zika virus is responsible for Guillain-Barre, a potentially life threatening paralysis among adults.

Just yesterday, El Salvador, urged women in that country not to get pregnant for two years. I hope that Jill and Derek have enough sense to leave El Salvador immediately. They are not only risking the health of their unborn child (if Jill is pregnant), but they are also risking their own health and the health of little Israel.

It was nobody's responsibility but Josh and Joe to abstain from eating or drinking anything before the surgery. Are they adults, or kids???? Even my nine-year-old knows that he can't have anything to eat or drink before a medical procedure and he has to abide by that! Anna is NOT Josh's mother. He is a grown adult. So is Joe. No wonder they have "accountability partners"...it appears as if they can't manage to handle their own lives without someone watching over them!

The thing that gets me is that this is, to me, another indication of their immature desire to continually buck authority to satisfy their own desires. Michelle adding breast milk to Josie's formula when the doctor said no breast milk...the sweet tea...it's all the same.

Just Me said...

I have always been under the impression when Michelle has talked about mowing the grass in her bikini, & thereby ruining the marriage of a neighbor, that incident was when she was a younger teen & living at her parents home before she ever even met her Savior. Am I wrong about this? I didn't think she was wearing a bikini after her marriage, although we have seen many pictures of her in slacks or jeans. Something her daughters have never been allowed to wear.
When thinking of the girls never wearing pants. I can't help but think of when they made the skirts out of the pants for the dress fire uniform. I know that was for special occasions in the fire dept. but still it made them look foolish especially when they went down to show the chief what they had done. Of course, that was good ole Jim Bob's suggestion. At least those men waited until those girls left before they burst into laughter. If they want to belong to any organization or group such as the fire dept. they should dress the same as everyone else. That's why people still say today, that women shouldn't be firefighters or police women etc. They wanted to be feminine firefighters. You can't have it both ways. If you want the same job as a man you must do the same work & dress appropriately.

I was thinking about how the Duggars think nothing in the world can top having at least 19 or more children & they have the kids convinced that there's nothing like having all those brothers & sisters. There's always somebody around to play with , you're never lonesome. To me it seems more like being in a kindergarten class 24/7. No privacy, no toys that are your own. Not to mention someone always watching what you're doing...spying on you & ready to report to mom & dad any infractions. What a way to live.

Wondering said...

I looked it up & on the internet it said that Michelle had a wild streak as a teen, during her cheerleading yrs. The neighbors often complained to her parents asking them to get her to cover up her "barely there outfits." So I do think it was before she even met Jim Bob. Thank God for Jim Bob he saved all those marriages that were headed for divorce because of Michelle's "barely there outfits."

Always said...

Re: Roo Doo's comments. You must have forgotten that Michelle told the head Dr. right to his face that her "mother's milk," was like "skim milk" so there would be no problem with Josie having her breast milk. I remember the Dr. walked away & came back later to try to explain the entire breast milk scenario to Michelle. In the hospital they made sure Josie was not given breast milk, but when she came home it was a different story,as we all remember Jill measuring out the formula & saying she was adding a certain number of cc's of beast milk to the formula. The recipe for the formula was written out on a piece of paper by Michelle so no mistakes would be made. Guess it was her baby, her house & so it was her rules no mater what that specialist Dr. told her.

If you have 19 siblings, there's also typically very little money unless your family has a reality TV series. My parents only had two kids because while my parents had good jobs and were fairly frugal (we wore a lot of hand-me-down clothes), they couldn't afford to pay for good private grade schools in the city where we lived AND save for our college educations. When my brother and I were born, the public schools weren't good enough to be an option.

Of course, while my parents were very focused on education and college, which is one of the most expensive parts of having kids, the Duggars...aren't.

Is anyone else worried that this new statement from Anna is the setup to the announcement of a "miracle baby" that proves Josh is well and forgiven?

Denisean said...

What new statement from Anna?

Virginia said...

I wondered the same thing. It just came out of nowhere. I also wish that these people could talk about something (anything) without quoting scripture. I am a Christain and grew up in a very strict and "modest" home and I never have seen people who feel the need to quote scripture whenever they make a public statement. Quite frankly if you read through the fluff and scripture, it really said very little. I would have loved to see her open up and really share her feelings.

Andrea said...

I don't think Anna is pregnant, I think the statement is meant to distract us from the trial date and the upcoming civil suit. Thanks Coleen. That's useful. What I found most surprise is there is Jury selection. I can't believe this case has gone this far and an expected 3 day trial. Ashely Stamm - Northup is perhaps not interested in settling out of court. Very interesting. I actually can't wait to see this trial to unfold. That said, feel bad for Anna . . . we all need to remember leaving an abuser can't be easy.

Elspeth said...

You can find Anna's statement on the Duggar official blog or Facebook and it's also on people.com.

Meme said...

Does anyone think that Anna may have had a little help with that statement? Something about beauty from ashes.....doesn't that sound a little "old" for her? I dunno but I thought I saw Michelle Duggar's fingerprints all over Anna's statement.

Even if Jill and Derick leave Central America,I wold presume there is still a chance Jill may be infected with Zika virus, and not know it.It says there are sometimes no symptoms.Hopefully she can be tested,if she is not already pregnant

Heart in Florida said...

Of course I don't think that Anna wrote that statement at all. It was one of the Duggar parents IMO. Also, I'm quite confused, yet again, about these people and their religious beliefs. How could "Anna" possible ask other to pray for her, Josh and their kids? She is asking for INTERCESSION from us, which is a Catholic practice when we ask saints or departed loved ones to "pray for us" in heaven. They are our spiritual prayer partners as well as asking for prayer from others on earth. If they have a personal relationship with Jesus, they don't need anyone else's prayers, do they? They are invoking a catholic religious practice, a contradiction yet again with them.

Andrea said...

Meme, I disagree. No one in the Duggar household wrote those words. The Duggar or TLCs Public Relations team pounded that out and it was proof read and proof read again before it was published. The Duggar's may come off as country bumpkin but too much money is at stake for it not to have passed through several organizations and people's hands before it was published. Anna with her Homeschool Diploma and minimal post secondary education wrote not a single word.

Murphy said...

I feel like if Joseph finished the one year program and earned that certificate then the family would have mentioned that in the blog post--they would absolutely announce any positive thing one of their children has accomplished to deter from the bad stuff

Rob said...

In regards to Heart in Florida's comment..."They are invoking a catholic religious practice" intercessory prayer is not a practice exclusive to Catholicism. In essence any time you pray on behalf of another person such as for safe travel or recovery from surgery or illness you are INTERCEDING on their behalf to Christ. Lutherans do this all the time as well as Episcopalians, Presbyterians and other protestant denominations. Scripture clearly states there is "One Mediator" between God and mankind and that is Christ. So if the prayer that is spoken is Dear Lord look after Anna during this difficult time through your Son Jesus Christ I pray, there is nothing wrong with this. However if the prayer is Aunt Gertrude or Mother Mary look after Anna there is a LOT wrong with that.

Meme said...

Andrea, I think you're right, there certainly IS too much money at stake for it to be any other way. This thing is really blowing up by the minute. I cannot imagine the outcome (of a potential trial) but I hope justice is done. Whatever that may be.

Not a Mocker said...

Something about beauty from ashes.....doesn't that sound a little "old" for her?
---
Not necessarily. It's s common Christian phrase. Comes from Isaiah. "to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."
It might be strange to someone who doesn't attend church (like any Christian-ese phrase) but I can easily believe that is something Anna would say.

Lisa Mcginnis said...

dear anna I just have one thing to say to you? how could you really seek God and find him when you live in a room with how many other girls? When do you even have any quiet time to seek the Lord? I really do not even think any of the duggars have quiet time with the lord on a personal level. They just do family Bible time. Anyone can read the Bible but really seeking God do not think so. My advice to you Anna is to get away and Jesus for yourself.

Pam said...

Lisa, you are correct. I had never thought of that. How can any of the Duggars have a quiet, personal relationship with the Lord? They have nowhere to go in that home for a quiet time to pray and be with God alone without distraction.

Meme said...

I realized something today about where I've heard the part of Anna's statement about ashes and beauty. The former Patti Roberts also used it in her book title (autobiography) many years ago. Patti was the first wife of Richard Roberts, Oral Roberts' son. The title was "Ashes to Gold," a story about overcoming trials and tribulations. Anna has had more than her share of those.

I can't imagine being raised as a second class slave and having my husband selected for me. Then to have to go through everything she has had to endure. Still, most people usually have a moment of reckoning. And then they grow up. And although I don't expect it, I would LOVE to see Anna have her moment soon.

Lisa Mcginnis said...

if you really look at the duggars life style Jim bod and Michelle do not have a seperate realtionship with Christ. in order for you to know Christ on a personal level you need to find quiet time with him alone each day it was encourage by jesus in the bible. Everything the duggar do is all about family nothing personal about themselves.

Just Me said...

Re:Murphy's comment. On one level I totally agree that the Duggars are always front & center to announce anything good one of their kids has done, but this was a statement put out from Crown College listing the graduates of this particular course. We also know that Joe is home from the brick & mortar college now. Who ever knows with these people?

Wondering said...

Let's hope Jill is not pregnant or doesn't get pregnant soon, as there is now a young woman in California (not pregnant) but has the virus & it's been months since she has been out of the country. Although my understanding is, that there is just no vaccination for this virus, at the present time.

Rob. You are correct about Lutherans and intercessory prayer. My pastor always asks the congregation if they know of anyone who needs prayer for sickness or other concerns during announcements.

Leslie said...

Regarding Rob's comment, I just want to clarify. In Catholicism, when we ask for the intercession of a saint or a departed loved one, we're only asking them to pray for whatever intention we might have, the same as we might with a living relative or friend. So it would never be "Mary/Aunt Gertrude/whomever, please watch over Anna..." It would be, "Mary/Aunt Gertrude/whomever, please pray for Anna..." As you said, there's a big difference there.

Also just wondering if the Duggars have no problem wearing used shoes what about used underwear??

I'm sick to death of hearing how wonderful Anna is doing walking through this terrible time in her life. Yes she may be heartbroken about her husbands betrayal, but the one thing she doesn't have to worry about, is if her children will have a roof over their heads, a place to sleep, a meal in their stomachs. So many women in this situation would be heading for a shelter. But all people are saying is how Anna is holding her head up & walking through this time with such grace. That's because she has all kinds of help with her children & no money worries, at least not as far as how she will feed her children. Let's face it no matter how her husband has humiliated her at least she knows her kids are being cared for& when these things happen in a family that's usually the mom's first concern; her children.

It looks like they will have three choices, one is heed the warning and avoid pregnancy, two is ignore and hope for the best, and three is leave the country and go wherever the virus is not.If they leave, then of course there may be other things to worry about, like malaria, etc.
I hope they make the right decision

Zika virus? Well Jill needn't worry because her children and her pregnancies are special. She did her own thing concerning her pregnancy and delivery, ignoring professional help and advice, she and Derick ignore safety issues such as appropriate car seat buckles, baby wearing dangers, taking a baby into gang territory in central america and a host of other questionable ways they have put their young son at risk. I really don't think they will give the dangers of the zika virus a thought because they are "blessed".

Michelle's hair -- imagining she's 19 years old. If she would only have it styled and keep it about 18 inches shorter. It is so juvenile for a grandmother to not accept her "season of life". It is definitely an attention-getting thing. She absolutely craves attention, come to think of it, so does Jessa.

Cedric said...

Wendy, I wouldn't be surprised if the Duggars purchased used toothbrushes as well. Purchasing used shoes, hats & toothbrushes is a health hazard waiting to happen. Children with growing feet need correct footwear. Later in life, wearing used shoes will definitely cause a health problem such as back & hip issues as well as leg & feet issues. Jim Bob loves money more than the health & safety of his children he's a disgusting jerk.

Aunt Bea said...

Michelle has stated on the show that they have always bought new underwear and socks for everyone. That is where she has drawn the "buy used" line. I'm sure they have new toothbrushes; after all, they must get them free from the dentist after their checkups, which, since the show, anyway, the kids have started to see a dentist and the parents have become obsessed with orthodontics for their girls...so typical of Jim Bob and Michelle...these two have obsessions with many things.
I agree wholeheartedly about buying used shoes and hats...just not a good idea at all, especially with young, developing feet. Those girls wear flip flops most of the time, or go barefoot, so I'm sure they have a hard time wearing any type of real shoe as their feet just aren't used to being "confined" and their feet have "spread" from the lack of footwear. Most of the little girls wear footwear that just doesn't fit them properly anyway...most of the time, we either see them barefoot or in boots that are simply too clunky and large for them to walk in anyway. Those little girls look like they dressed themselves in the dark....mismatched clothing, poor footwear, wild hair, and no coats or sweaters in the winter, and overdressed in the summer. Just so sad, IMO.

RE:s's comment about Michelle's hair. Maybe you missed the episode where Michelle's best friend from school, an attractive woman named, Cindy took Michelle to a salon for a makeover, for her birthday gift. She had at least several inches cut off her hair. The only people who like it were the hairdresser & Cindy. Michelle just kept saying over & over again, "I'll just have to get used to it, Jim Bob likes it long." But you could tell she didn't like it at all either. When they arrived home, Jim Bob was furious at Cindy about the haircut & style. When asked by the producer what he thought, he angrily replied that he liked longhair. Something we have heard all the girls say over the years, "we wear our hair long because daddy likes it that way." When you walk into your house with a new hair-do & everyone just looks at you & say's "it will grow back." I guess you don't get another haircut. Long hair is extremely important to the members of cults, so I wouldn't expect to see any of the girls cutting their hair, either because "daddy likes it long or their husband likes it long."

RE: Michelle's hair. I beg to differ from my good friends on the blog, but Michelle's' hair is not an attention getter or trying to look 20 yrs. younger, it's because she is "OBEYING" Jim Bob, just as her daughters are. Remember all the girls at one time or another have said: "we wear our hair long because daddy likes it that way." It turns my stomach to think that young women in their twenties are trying so hard to "please daddy."

Re: the girls' long hair...
In an episode from many seasons ago I vaguely remember Michelle in one of her talking head moments saying that they had decided many years prior that the girls would wear skirts/dresses and wear their hair long because "it would please the lord". If that's what has been taught (enforced) from a very young age, the girls simply don't know any different or better.

RE: Jeannie Bean's comment on the girls long hair. You are absolutely correct, as I have also heard Michelle say, they decided they would wear skirts or dresses & keep their hair long, because it would be pleasing to the Lord. Perhaps the girls don't know any difference, or any better. Or then again maybe, just maybe they actually believe that "Daddy is the Lord." It certainly appears that way, in the Duggar house.
How do Jim Bob & Michelle really know that the length of the girls hair or dresses will be more pleasing to the Lord? Maybe, honest, upright, loving & Godly children will actually please the Lord far more than the length of their dresses or their hair.

Whether it's her hair or her clothes, I think he calls the shots & likes the messy mop of hair. It also insures that Michelle is only attractive to him. When she had her hair cut & styled that time, she actually looked very nice. Her hair was smooth, not bushy & she had bangs that made her look much younger. It no longer looked like a rat's nest. I know she's had 19 kids, but in Jim Bob's sick mind, she might be attractive to other men. Michelle always takes time for anything she wants to do for herself, since she doesn't have all that much work to do around the house. So I don't think it's laziness at all. Of course, the words Michelle & style shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Remember all the times we've seen her in those horrible green blouses as well as the thick black stockings. She even wore them to Josh's wedding. So whether it's because she's lazy, or just has no sense of style, she's a mess from head to foot.

What is disgusting to me is how the Duggars place rules on themselves and others that God Himself doesn't expect--such as wearing hair as long as humanly possible, having as many children as humanly possible and staying with a cheating husband in spite of the fact the Bible even acknowledges that it is alright to leave that kind of a marriage.

too bad,so sad said...

About the shoes etc. I have seen posted so many pictures of the Duggars in their new clothing and from that I do believe "buy used and keep the difference" is a thing of the past and I am not faulting them for giving that up. They are multimillionaires. Buying the things they need retail is just part of our economic system and why should wealthy people be buying items from companies trying to provide for the poor without making a huge profit. Just my opinion and I can also see the opposite view holding water too. I think, just to be sarcastic, they are now using the quote "Buy what we tell you and keep your different opinion to yourselves." LOL

Hair, once again they seem to be fundamental Christians who believe they are following the word of the Bible, but then not. In the OT women need to cover their hair so that they do not tempt the fallen angels. (scripture provided with request, too lazy to look it up now) The other thing I notice is that hair styles can be a more regional style. Michelle and the girls are wearing styles similar to what they see other women int their cult, oops I mean, community wearing. That must make them feel like they fit in, are approved of not just by JB but also by friends and neighbors. You know they want to be looked up to even though they only need to please the Lord. They do not want others in their group to criticize them even though none of them judge others, or so I have read. Yes, I love to point out irony.

The hair, clothes, work, education, everything within their lifestyle seems to be an attempt to stamp our any individuality in the members of this group. So, so sad. That is why I love the old national motto-the latin phrase "from many one" So much better advice in this day and age than "in God we trust" In God we trust may very well be the best individual goal, but for a country who was founded on individual rights and freedom of speech and religion it just might not be the best.

Re:all of the comments about the long hair. A few years ago, there was an episode where the older girls were doing home perms. Everyone but Jana had to do one because Jana has naturally curly hair. The other girls commented that she was very lucky that she (Jana) didn't have to perm. Then they were talking about why they had long hair and why they had(?) to perm or if they had to. They said that they wore their hair long and curly because their dad liked it that way so that was that.

In my opinion, those girls were teenagers and JB's opinion really shouldn't influence them to that degree. I don't think that I had a style that I didn't like because my dad insisted on it. They didn't say that JB suggested it and they loved it too, they said that they wore their hair long and curly because their dad liked long, curly hair. Sheesh. Even my husband lets our girls, ages 6 and 8 choose their hair lengths.

So, clear this up for me, exactly what "degree" did Joseph get from Crown College? I use that word loosely.

Wondering said...

RE: Annie's question about what "degree" Joseph received from Crown College. Joseph received "The Foundation for Christian Life Certificate." This is a one yr. course of study. This certificate only revolves around Bible Studies. The Duggars however will probably say that Joseph now has a B.S. from Crown College. Just what you need to drive a truck or be involved in daddy's business

Re: Comments about whether the girls really love their long, curly hair or not. So it's anyone's guess.

Sharon said...

Where is it shown that's what Joe received, please.

Willow said...

In my opinion, Jim Bob probably does prefer the long, curly hair. No doubt. Also, however, IMO, I believe it is probably easier for the "cult" families if the headship picks a favorite style for the women and girls. That way, he can say its his favorite and that it follows the bible teaching, etc., etc., and it makes it easier to keep the "sameness" of the cult children. Same hair, same smiles, same phrases, same or similar clothing. Individuality is frowned upon and it just makes it easier. Of course, with the Duggars and Bates being so famous now, the clothing restrictions have obviously eased up.

Like most of what this family does, he wasted that time in his life that he could have been receiving a REAL education worth the paper the diploma is written on. Anna exceeded her parents' expectations in only one way and it had nothing to do with her homeschooling education. It had to do with marrying a Duggar. As I recall, Anna's parents were ecstatic about Josh's proposal (complete with balloons) in the seafood restaurant. Anna seemed stunned, scared and confused. Maybe the Kellers and Josh forgot to consult her? Anywho, she grew into the job after all. Seems like everything worked out. Maybe it's because the Kellers and the Duggars share certain beliefs:
1. Gothard is love.
2. Men rule.
3. Women serve.
4. Josh can do no wrong and.......
5. Money makes all the bad stuff go away.

Boy oh boy, TLC is desperate to get the Duggars back on TV. Apparently, there really either wasn't enough interest, or they didn't have the sponsors to keep on with Jill & Jessa & Counting. I wonder if the sponsors are now coming back out of the woodwork to support the Duggar show? Most of the time women do the shopping, so I have to wonder what companies would want to go near a show that has an audience of mostly women from twenties to perhaps early fifties. They would be the ones that would support the show by their purchasing power & I don't think there are that many women walking around blindly not paying attention to what companies are supporting the Duggars & TLC. With the exception of a very few that are playing fast & loose with their common sense, women are more savvy than that.

He seems to be quite cool about it and I only hope that she isn't disappointed in his performance as a husband. I also believe that she has the "courting syndrome" of being infatuated with finally experiencing some male attention, like the 6th grade girl being asked to the dance by a boy. They just rub me the wrong way. BTW, on another note, why is it that Michaela, being raised by her parents and living in Tennessee, is the only child of their who doesn't have a southern accent?

TLC only shows images of the Duggars. Not the reality of the level of dysfunction in this family. Eight adult children, not one with a job. And now, two son in laws, also unemployed. Jim Bob Duggar better have a plan, because the money goes out faster than it comes in...

Yeah I also wonder, what were they thinking regarding the adult children being jobless? What really is the cult's vision of supporting a family, if no one is allowed to work? The Duggars will probably get by fine, that TV money probably will go a long way if they're careful. But what about regular families where the guy isn't as sharp at wheeling and dealing as JB? They all must live at under the poverty level.

RE: Pretty Girls comments. You right about the Duggars refusing to answer certain questions. Always asked never answered!

Ginger said...

RE: Pretty Girls questions about the Duggars & public school. They have answered that before but in the end you can't make any sense out what they say. "Oh we support public schools, we think they are wonderful, they are really needed. Michelle went to public school. But of course there are certain elements like drugs etc. that can't be kept out of the pubic schools." As far as the kids go only one boy went with Michelle & the girls the time they visited the public school to talk about the book they wrote & how important reading is. This was the time Michelle nursed Jordyn while sitting in font of the class of elementary kids. The producer asked the Duggar boy that went along, what he thought of he pubic school. I don't remember which boy it was. He answered, that the teachers have so many kids in their class they must be wild, the teachers have no control over that many kids. Of course, they showed a well behaved classroom of kids who were actually paying attention to the teacher. Then they show the Duggar home where the kids were running wild, Michelle couldn't even get them all to sit down at the SOTDRT & she was unable to get them under control for their lessons. The older girls all said they could never get up that early in the morning for school. Boy was that ever a shock. So there you go, as much as memory serves.

I can't imagine the size of the Duggar carbon footprint. 22+ styrofoam plates and 22+ sets of plastic forks, knives and spoons at each meal; styrofoam to go cups at the self-serve soda stand; heating that ginormous house through burning wood; eating processed foods in plastic packaging or cans for every meal; driving around in gas-guzzling vans and SUVs; taking the family on several trips each year in the diesel-powered bus; cans upon cans of hairspray; ATVs; private planes...its mind boggling. So much for being concerned about being caretakers of God's creation...

My Way said...

One thig is absolutely certain, TLC & the Duggars have never severed ties. TLC has drawn this soap opera out all these months, while their PR people work night & day on re-launching the new shows. I'm sure they needed to change their tactics, as more of the scandals were revealed. I have to wonder how many former sponsors will now return. We all know, not that many sponsors showed up for the party when it came to the Jill & Jessa & Counting specials. Since I've referred to this as a soap opera, I guess those of us old enough to have been be glued to the TV for daily soap operas, probably remember that nobody ever really died on these shows. Actors went to another show for awhile then eventually returned to our favorite one, usually having had plastic surgery or amnesia. So in essence it's the same thing as the old soap operas. It took decades before the soaps were actually replaced, now mostly by talk shows. I'm sure the abundance of working women, who were not around to watch the soaps contributed to the eventual demise of the beloved Soap Operas. I think soaps were left in the dust of shoes of the working woman who was rushing out the door of her home, for a full day at the office, then returning home to cook, clean, care for her children, often time with little or no help from her husband. Now what it will take for the permanent decline of the Duggars, God only knows. I only know what's happened in the past. Sadly the future belongs to the Duggars & TLC.

Always said...

RE: RooDoo's comment about the carbon footprint. Both of them have answered that one, each saying the same thing. "Well we buy used & save the difference. We use things that other people have thrown out." They definitely feel they are saving the planet with their heating system for the house. That's about as far as the answer to that one ever went. Nobody was allowed to actually pin them down & ask the questions you posed as far as all the plastic plates, gas-guzzling vehicles. The one that has always bothered me the most, is that they won't address all the plastic diapers they have used over the yrs. In one of those q&a's Michelle made her famous statement that "overpopulation is a myth, the entire population of the world (not just the USA) could fit shoulder to shoulder within the confines of Jacksonville FL." Believe me I couldn't make this stuff up.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Duggar's are in no way environmentalists. I actually thought all Evangelical Christians didn't believe in Global warming, I'm wrong. I found the following on the New York Times website and it specifically mentions several organizations the Duggar's have been affiliated with: Family Research Council and Focus on the Family. Basically these groups believe "global warming is natural and that mankind is incapable of altering the climate." That said, the article also mentions the Duggar's friend Mike Huckabee, who does believe in climate change. So who knows? I'm going to guess that the Duggar's don't believe in Global warming and could careless about the amount of garbage they produce.

I wasn't able to watch them, as I was working & didn't have all the latest equipment to record. It didn't matter too much as when I returned to my favorite soap after a number of yrs. things had not change very much. I believe the last one I watched before going to work full time there was a character dying. When I returned to the same soap many yrs. later the funeral for that character was just taking place. Yet I remember on another soap, a baby boy was born the same day my girlfriend had her daughter. Re: Sandi's comment. You hit the nail on the head about not understanding the longevity of the Duggars show. I think with the Duggars they are supporting a large family on a reality show . As you mentioned, most sitcoms leave while they are on top, but the actors usually move on to other shows. That's not going to happen with the Duggars. They need to squeeze every nickel & dime out of that reality show & reality shows are a whole different ball game. Most of them don't last more than 7 yrs. I think many of us are still trying to figure out what the "real"connection is between TLC & the Duggars. Most of the sponsors seem to have figured it out, but TLC is obviously still raking in the dollars. What we do know is they won't kill the "Golden Goose." Apparently you & I just don't understand that it's a ministry, so maybe that's the difference between sitcoms & the Duggars ministry. We need some of that good old time religion that Duggars are trying to sell us. We need to be living our lives as they do, in a Godly, Pious way.

Out of curiosity from some posting that mentioned Anna not looking too thrilled in the episode when Joshua proposed, I found it on the "official Duggar website" and found the whole episode list and watched that episode. It was a gem. Truly, it was. I remember when it first aired, but forgot some great details. Like, Pa Keller helping to maneuver everything into place for his daughter. and the waitress in the restaurant giving commentary before, during and after. I think that the crew and Josh really disrupted the day in the restaurant. The poor waitress kept saying "People are just trying to eat!". I think that she said it twice. The crew must have asked her opinion on J and A not kissing and she said that whatever they wanted- to save for the public or private is fine but "people are just trying to eat!". Meanwhile J kept going on about the ring being 1/2 K diamond and Anna kept saying "Wow!". I had to laugh when Josh went on and on about sexual purity.

On another note and I will understand if this is censured, I found a parody of this on YouTube. Search for KidFarm episode 7 a decent proposal. This is a whole series of a parody of the Duggars. They have a ton of kids with names beginning with the letter B. Episode 7 was very similar to J and A's proposal episode. I watched all of the episodes-they are really short- and laughed really hard.

Thank God for Daddy Duggar's checkbook. Danica Dillon has fallen on her sword with I'm sure with a backdoor payoff so the Duggars show can be returned to TLC. All is well with the world. We certainly know what the Duggars have been praying for all this time they have been off TV. Apparently it was well worth a mere $500,000 to Danica. Now the Duggars will be able to use episode after episode, to tell us in detail how difficult this time has been for them to walk through, especially for Michelle & Jim Bob, what with all the worrying about the show not returning. Never mind worrying about Anna & her 4 children or the other kids in the home. I've got news for them, they have far larger problems than their TV show& they don't even realize it, or they just don't care. They still have a ton of little ones that need to be raised by their own parents. Those kids need guidance, education, & one on one attention given to them by their parents. Their parents owe them that & normally it's the parents job. But with the Duggars the roles are reversed & they owe those kids for working for them all these yrs. Some of the kids have been on camera from the moment of their birth, the least their parents could do is give them some time & attention & maybe they could start by actually buying them new shoes & clothes instead of used. I'm way past done with the Dugggars, they are slime in my opinion.

Andrea said...

I'm so confused. Danica Dillon drops the suit and claims she lied but posts on instagram "Just because something was dropped doesn't mean it was a lie." LOL Oh, I never watch the show, haven't bought a magazine with a Duggar on the cover in ages, and am thinking I might need to log off the internet indefinitely to finally rid myself of this drama. Jana is a 26 year old woman now. It is a sin that her own mother uses her as she has all of Jana's life for her own benfit. Tell me how this is Christian? It is NOT; it is lazy, that's what it is. Jim Bob is a crappy father also for allowing his daughter to be stifled in such a way. If he's the "patriarch", he should exercise some of his "authority" over Michelle and realize that his own wife is taking advantage of all of their daughters, mostly Jana and stand up for them. We will never know what or how Jana really feels about her assignment in life; or if she is able to have a truthful internal dialogue with her own self about it. They are all brainwashed to believe that challenging their parents, even in the smallest of ways is a sin that will separate them from God...which is baloney. I don't have much respect for these two as parents, as I am a parent myself and can voice my experienced opinion in this area. Why does TLC continue to coddle this bizarre family, who's belief system is way off the mark even as christian beliefs go, is beyond me.
It is also curious why someone who would go forward and sue Josh Duggar with charges as such; make a "180" and dismiss suddenly? If the status at this time is the truth, why start it from the beginning anyway? I smell something rotten in Denmark....excuse me, citizens of Denmark.
