Greece? Do they really need an expensive honeymoon? I wonder if they picked out the place? I doubt it, they probably would have preferred Disney World, if they could have chosen for themselves.

Sigh, another arranged marriage. And let's make sure that there is a honeymoon baby! Ratings!

Isn't this show just like "Groundhog Day"?

I wonder if Kendra's gonna get pregnant on the honeymoon. (roll eyes)

How are they getting ratings off this snore fest?

I know it's not realistic to expect episodes in "real time" but this is OLD news. Joe & Kendra's wedding + her pregnancy + however months old baby Duggar is now means the episodes cover what happened last year. Who cares!! What viewers would like to see is Jana to get her Cinderella "happily ever after" wedding and daring escape to freedom. But allowing that would be the final act of desperation for Michelle and her "wonderful husband".

My opinion about being old news and all is that the Duggars themselves are partly responsible for this. They constantly post current events, have their Fan Blog which posts all the latest news about them. Of course, anything that's in the editing room from TLC will take time to air and be old news. They are their own worst enemy. The Duggars need to keep OFF social media and their self-serving website for the show to have any suspense and interest when aired.

I went to Greece on my honeymoon. It was lovely.

There were a lot of Biblical archaeological sites to visit, which may be the appeal for Kendra and Joe. Much of the New Testament was written in Greece.

However, the beaches are mostly "clothing optional" which was shocking enough for me - a self-described "east coast liberal" - and I wonder what Kendra and Joe will make of it. Not just topless women, which you'll find on pretty much any beach outside of the USA, but full-on nudes of both genders.

Re:Aunt Bea's comment about the Duggars being their own worst enemies, posting all the current news. I absolutely agree with that comment. However I've never seen an episode that I would consider having "suspense" in it.

Re:Katie Ann's comment about how much she enjoyed Greece & how very beautiful & interesting it was. I'm happy that someone appreciated & enjoyed such a beautiful honeymoon. I don't believe any Biblical archaeological sites had a thing to do with Joe & Kendra's trip to Greece. I believe each couple has gone on a honeymoon trip to wherever TLC chose for them. After all, it's a freebie & they don't look a gift horse in the face. They go where they are told to go.

I understand that reality shows can’t pump out shows in real time, however, the contents of this episode are so old they’re basically irrelevant. I mean, since this episode was filmed

- the couple got pregnant
- Jinger got pregnant
- a dugger brother started courting
- Joyanna had a baby
- dugger brother got engaged
- this couple had a baby
- dugger brother got married
- John David started courting
- Jinger had a baby
- John David got engaged
- (and potentially closer to the beginning the Dillard’s were kicked off the show. But, again, that was so far back already “content wise” that I can’t remember if that was last season or not.)

Even if you *like* this show you would probably be like “old news. Move along”

(PS. Sorry if I posted this twice. The first time I got an error message, so I don’t know if it went through)

I'm not watching tonight's episode after opening my US magazine and Jessa had to be interviewed and had more photos than new parents!!! It's all about Jessa every time or she'll make it about herself. And if Jessa thinks anyone has forgotten she lives in that small mold house with dirty diapers, she's wrong. Posing for family photos at the Vuolo's beautiful home and stealing Felicity, Jinger and Jeremy's moment just reeks of jealousy. So I'm not watching the show tonight. I hope "Jessa's Counting On" gets cancelled.

Give Me A Break mentioned the dirty diapers in Jessa's house. The boys are older but the messes are still bad. This article just posted. The rug in the picture is absolutely filthy. The wall of the (living room?) has scribbles all over it though it looks like they tried and failed to crop it out.

I'm surprised that being in a national magazine...GIVING MARRIAGE ADVICE (hahahaha!) she didn't pick up a little. Or keep the photos outside.

Lauren's dad reminds me of Ted Haggard. Same mannerisms and smile.

Trish and Give Me A Beak:

The pictures from US Magazine of Jessa at home with the boys is not her house, it's Jinger's nursery. Someone (can't remember if it was People or US or Radar etc) had pictures and an article of Jinger's first days at home with the baby and she's in the same nursery that Jessa took her pictures in.

I guess they think we're too dumb to notice that.

I was also going to mention Jessa. I watched last night's new episode and I thought it was ok for the most part. I enjoyed Joe and Kendra's honeymoon. They seemed to enjoy learning about Greece, or at least Kendra did. They are very young but Kendra seems sweet. I thought Greece looked beautiful.

Now about Jessa. I just have to say, Jessa the star again. I knew it would probably be that way before it even started. I noticed when Ben was cooking just how filthy their kitchen was. Stains down the side of the stove and on a cabinet. Am I wrong, did anyone else see that? I know its a small place for the 4 of them, but really? What else does she have to do? She could always hire someone to come clean up for her. She is not THAT poor. I agree about the pics of Jessa and her family at Jinger's house. I couldn't get that at all. So strange. The only thing she had to talk about was "baby fever" and that is just a thought, not an actually event. OMG. I hope we get to see more of all of the other couples more than this and LESS of JESS. We have heard all of her pearls of wisdom already ad nauseum. Let us hear some advice from someone new, o.k.? Ben does seem sweet, but they really are boring now. We need to see more of John David now. He is quiet but at least he will be different.

I thought the J&L wedding was very pretty. Her dress was gorgeous. I think Lauren is a little awkward because she is just so young, probably. The Swanson's house was gorgeous. I felt so bad for Jana at the outing with the other girls and at the pedicure salon. She looked so sad and the others just basically ignored her. She deserves better, but Jessa seems to always monopolize everything. Even Joy could not get much attention for her baby belly.

Trish said...

Thanks Molly for the info on the photos being at Jinger's. My comments stand though-idiotic for Jessa to give marriage advice, idiotic to be photographed in whoever's mess it is! :)

I love how when Ben cooks dinner and is home alone with the boys, he gets unending praise! That's just an average day for a stay-at-home mom...

The questions about Kendra working made me cringe...

Re: Willow's comment about Lauren's dress. I'm, sorry & really don't mean to offend anyone at all but it's amazing how different people have such different opinions. I thought Lauren's dress looked like a nightgown.

I was pleasantly surprised with how nicely Kendra handled herself in Greece. She made great, normal conversation with the lady next to her at lunch. She seemed to actually appreciate the amazing trip that TLC funded. Poor Joe could only say "si" in his attempts to speak Greek.
I was also proud of TLC for completely cutting out any and all mention of Josh and Jill and their families. We did not see Jim Bob, Michelle, or the little kids either. If they are going to keep this Jessa-Train going at least let the little kids get on with a normal life.
And finally, I agree with posters above that this show moves WAY too slowly! They either need to post less on social media/release less to magazines OR take more creative control over the show and move things forward. I understand wanting to release the mini-shows of weddings/babies so that TLC has the first story and then they can shop around to the magazines but it mades the actual show old news.

There were less flash backs this time, that was better. Hope that continues. Overall, I liked this episode so much better than usual. I agree Kendra acted so normal in Greece. She seems less star-struck and so does Joe. Side note though, that elevated restaurant made me dizzy and sick to stomach just watching it!! J&K just took it in stride.

Ann, that thought makes me shudder on fear and disgust...

I thought Joe and Kendra (especially her) really got into their Greece honeymoon and appeared to really enjoy meeting the locals and doing things other than just "walking around". Of course TLC planned it but they made the most out of it.

First time I've seen Lauren other than in photos but I thought she looked lovely as well. The dress was plain and simple on front but very pretty in the back. There were no crazy antics during the wedding, except for the Duggar tradition of running up the aisle. For someone so young and not used to TV cameras, I thought she was remarkably poised during the wedding. Apparently she is also into healthy eating which will be helpful to Josiah (whom she calls Si).

Ben has not gotten any more relaxed in front of the camera. His comments are still very stilted and awkward.

I still hate it that most of the kids and their spouses are marrying way too early, without going to school, training for a career or just experiencing life.

How does Jim Bob manage to come up with those ridiculous crocodile tears? He was sobbing like a little girl at Josiah's wedding & it was sickening. Everyone else was smiling & he was sobbing. Another way to make it all about himself.

Unknown said...

So now we know the Duggars lick their plates. Good for Kendra for not tolerating that!

Christine said...

It's been at about a year since Kendra and Joe went on their honeymoon. TLC's delaying the episodes because they think that there's nothing interested about the Duggars but courtships, weddings, and babies.

If Jim Bob is willing to push the kids into marriages in order to keep the show going, can't TLC manufacture some interesting episodes by doing something that would actually help the kids and not commit them to a lifelong relationship, like having them take some community college courses?

Have an episode about Jeremiah taking a course in carpentry and home repair at a technical college. Viewers would be fascinated to see one of the Duggar boys interacting with non-fundie classmates.

Have an episode about James (he's still "in school", right?) volunteering as a reading tutor at the local elementary school.

Have Joy-Anna take a class in web design so that she can work on the website for her in-law's family camp.

Have Jana volunteer with immigrant families and teach them English. (I've done this. You don't need to be able to speak their language.)

Re: Christin's comment about how it might be interesting to see something like James volunteering as a reading tutor at the local elementary school. James was the Duggar boy who could never even find his schoolwork or find his workbook when Michelle was "teaching" the kids at the SOTDRT. He also insisted he had always finished all his schoolwork, which he hadn't. Another strike against him as a volunteer might be, when Michelle took the kids to the public school to publicize their book & a reading program the school had, James couldn't get out of bed to go with them, he was up too tired from being up late the night before & was still quite young but no bedtime schedule. I don't think he's a good choice.

A couple of comments on Josiah & Lauren's wedding. I thought Josiah suit look to small or him, at least his jacket was too short. Also Laurens dad promised the couple that he would honor their marriage by not shedding tears, then it showed everyone smiling after they were pronounced man & wife, except Jim Bob who was sobbing like a baby, again making it all about himself.
