Unrelated to Josh…if a husband or wife dies in this cult, are they allowed to remarry. Who takes care of (controls) the widow’s life — her dad or father-in-law? Are there different standards for widows vs widowers regarding remarriage?

As I recall when the Duggar’s show first aired on TV it was mentioned that if a Fundie Gothard follower loses their spouse via death they are not permitted to marry again. However there was no mention as to who resumes the care of the spouse & any children regardless if the spouse left behind is a male or a female. If I am incorrect about this post please correct me & provide accurate information.

If a Cult Fundie follower woman loses her spouse through death I believe it is her Father or Father in law who assumes the control, care & finances of the Widow & children. Pretty horrible life for a Widow living in this dumb Cult.

My guess is that there is a big double standard for men & women. A woman is handed over like property to her husband's headship at their wedding. If the husband died, she would be passed along to the headship of her father-in-law. After marriage, she is no longer part of her biological family. A man can do what he wants just because he's a man.

That is not even biblical.

I believe a woman in this cult would be permitted to marry again after the death of her husband. This cult, does permit divorce in extreme circumstances if the spouse wishes it.They would have to be "approved" grounds most likely...so I'm sure if your spouse passes away, they should be able to marry. What happens to a widow in the mean time? I would think a close male relative cares for them like her father, father-in-law or a brother. Sad that this woman is given no power over her own life at all.

There is a really cute photo of Josie on Duggar Family instagram. She has braces and looks so grown up. I can see the beauty she will grow into. I hope she has been kept safe from predator who was so close. I wonder why she is not included with Jordyn and Jenni in things?

Hmmmm ..... So if the father or father-in-law of the woman is deceased, who would take over then? Say in Michelle's case, she doesn't have a living father or FIL. Would it go to the oldest son, and we know who that is. If Josh is in jail, would control go to John David, and so forth down the line of sons?

The younger brother has to marry the widow. And she has to beJoyfully available.

This trial of Josh that is coming up is I'm sure costing Jim Bob a pretty penny, possibly a couple hundred thousand dollars. Josh's ankle monitor is a daily fee, and that has to be adding up. If this ends in incarceration for Josh, how are the Duggars going to explain it, especially Anna. Then Anna will be left with 7 children, no education, no income, possibly no housing. Will she go on welfare, food stamps, Section 8 housing or will the family be supporting her with money, food, clothes and a place to live?

I keep thinking about how the Duggars have never held any type of employment outside of the home. I don't know if Jim Bob is going to be able to support them all now since his income from TLC is gone. By the way, I hope all the kids get a good lawyer who helps them get their share of the TLC money in their own name. Daddy Duggar shouldn't be able to control it any more.

Lastly, some of the Duggar and Bates boys are in Haiti with Medic Corps. There's a picture of the group standing around the plane all smiling probably before they left. They sure like to pat themselves on the back. Don't know how it happened, but Lawson again made it on NBC Nightly News last night helping carry a victim on a stretcher. There were six people carrying the victim, and Lawson was the first person you see and wearing his Medic Corps shirt. I'd like to know just exactly how much work they really do or are they just getting in the way of the real doctors and nurses. I'm sure they'll let us know all the "wonderful" work they did, along with pictures of their smiling faces!

JImBlurb will spend all the money (that the kids should have received from TLC) on Jersh's defense. I am thinking it will be closer to half million dollars.

I keep thinking back to Samuel Dillard's delivery. We don't really know the details but it was obvious that there was some kind of medical emergency that kept Sam in hospital. (Thankful he is healthy now and oh so cute). It seems like this was when the Dillard's realized that TLC and Popso would not be paying up for the medical bills as that episode was never aired. (In all fairness, Dillard's should be responsible for their own medical-but we don't know what their expectations from the past or what they had been promised).

Say allegedly, JlmBlurb refused to pay medical bills. Then Jill and Derick realize how they have been played. Seek Jill's share of TLC money to help with bills. BUT now JImBlurb will not hesitate to pay for Jersh's lawyers? How does that make Jill feel? Because boys are more important than girls. Did Jessa or Jinger or Joy get any of their money due? It will be gone.
These Duggar children need to move on and get some education or training and step away from this cultish life.
That is exactly what Dillard's are doing. Oh I hope Jill can study nursing one day.

Not Biblical & definitely sexist, & abusive on many levels. Yet these men hide behind the stupid Cult As an excuse to avoid law enforcement.

The Duggar adult children will never train for an actual job. With TLC's cancellation of their show, what are they doing????Looking for yet another tv show once their contractual time expires. I could not believe it! The girls crave the spotlight IMO and are not modest in the least. I bet Jana is the only one of the older girls who will breathe a sign of relief that she does not have to appear on camera any more.
I agree with the post above which points out how Jim Bob did not/or would not help out with Sam and Jill's hospital bills....but jumps through many hoops paying for Josh's situation. It should confirm in all of their minds how unfair this is. I hope the daughters see this for what it is...Josh is still a prince in his parents' minds.

Seems like they aren't even saying he didn't do this now. I hope this is just grasping at straws and will be seen as a ridiculous ploy by attorneys. I hope it cost Jb a ton of money.

This should be in Josh's misdeeds, please.

I have appreciated how Michelle and JB have publicly stated that they don't believe in higher education. That people learn how to work by learning from others.

Yet, they have no problems with accessing professionals who have higher education to get medical care for Michelle or attorneys for Josh.

Anna does have a paid for home on the Duggar’s property. She and her kids will not go homeless or under.

See that Erin Paine is pregnant with number 5, superised then not superised.

Poohbear717 said...

Surprising since she claimed to have lost an ovary and most of the other. So yes dumper surprised to hear she was pregnant. Most doctors advice waiting a year or more agmftsr the symurgerg she had.

KatieLou said...

I too was surprised and concerned when I saw Erin Paine was pregnant. I know that a lot of the Bates and Duggar families members believe they should have as many children as they can have, but with Erin’s health issues, I worry about her four children possibly ending up losing their mother. So many of them ignore their physicians recommendation to space out children so their bodies have time to recover. When is enough ever enough? They seem to have selective listening when it comes to physicians advice. Remember when Meechelle Duggar was told that premie Josie was allergic or not tolerating her breast milk but she thought she knew better and continued to give her some breast milk anyway.

The Core Four! Jinger looks great! I had no idea she cut her hair.

The matriarch might look great with short hair. She will need permission, though.

Anna and her children will not be homeless. If she's willing to stand by Josh then JB and Michelle will compensate her for her faithfulness.

I agree with Poohbear717.Anna and her children will not be homeless.

I have noticed several pictures of Jana in pants lately. I think she looks very cute. I would love to see her get out from under her idiot father’s rule. She is a beautiful woman who should be able to live on her own.

Carlin Bates is pregnant, I bet jb and m are telling their kids to get going and give them more grandbabies cause the Bates can't out do the Duggars

Clarinda said...

If they aren't going to let Jana live on her own, JB & M could at least give her a bedroom/bathroom of her own. Too old to be sharing a room with her baby sisters. Give the woman some privacy. It's a huge house. I hope Jana's budding relationship works out with this new beau of hers and that Josh's big mess doesn't ruin everything for everyone.

Forgot to mention, Derick did not pass the bar.

KatieLou said...

At least 25% of applicants fail the Bar Exam on their first try. Also, Arkansas has one of the hardest exams in the country. Many famous and successful people failed the exam, including John F Kennedy Jr who failed two times and finally passed on this third try. I have reasons for non respecting Derick, such as his homophobic statements,, but not passing the Bar. Exam on the first attempt is not one of them.

LInda said...

UA law school graduates have an 83% pass rate on the AR bar. A lot of people commented on the quality of Derick's studying in preparation. He'll probably realize what he needs to do to pass and do fine on the second try.
