Wait...What...Joy is getting married?

She's been married since May and is also pregnant.

Lol. I was being sarcastic.

2 hours?! Really? The Duggar weddings must be so predictable, I actually have never watched one, hard to imagine I have better things to do with my time.

What is the endless fascination with this family?

Re:Mickey2942
I think the reason so many viewers continue to watch or follow them is because the family is like a runaway train. You know fully well that it's going to crash, just a matter of when. And what scandal and character will be the villain or hero. Anna could have blown the lid off the cooker, but she chose to stay. Many of the inlaw parents seem estranged from the Duggars. There were photos at The Springdale Dollar Store of a thief who stole a cell phone, etc from the back room of the store. It appears to be Josh or a Josh lookalike. The police could be sitting on that for ammunition. I'm really surprised that none of the locals haven't come forward with proof of how deceptive the Duggars and the tv show truely are being.

Can we talk about the ridiculous wedding gown designer, Miss Renee? What an attention hog. Over-the-top gestures, hugs, smiles, gaping mouth and comments. I have no words. Her spirit animal must be Barney the dinosaur. Very hard to watch. She needs to go away. In my opinion she is as bad if not worse than Sierra the wedding planner.

How can there have been 'months of planning' for the wedding. How long was their engagement? Three months?

AND didn't we already see the wedding?

how come this women is delivering the dress to the house no place does this? must pay her an arm and leg for this. Guess they are special.

Two hours of re-hashing Joy and Austins wedding? Yippee Skippie. My only take away from this Circling The Duggar Drain Train Wreck is just how old is Kendras dad? He looks about 32 years old...

Okayyyyyy. Good little Southern Baptist girl speaking. I have N E V E R seen people be so irreverent in church, aka God's house. Running??! No, no and no. I don't care that they just got married. It is just not done. Go outside & run all you like, but don't do it inside. And what the heck was the deal with the confetti cannons? Again, I've never seen this type of behavior in church.

Diana said...

Lisa Mcginess I'll tell you why Miss Renee delivered Joys wedding dress to the Duggar compound! MONEY! she most likely "worships" the same God as the Duggars do, MONEY! she gets all that free advertising, plus she may even get paid for the dress too, by TLC of course! This whole deal of Joy picking out a dress was ridiculous. Who would fly all those family members from Arkansas to Kentucky to get a dress?! Don't they sell dresses in Arkansas? Let's see, there was MEchelle, grandma Mary,Jinger,Jana,Jessa,Ben,Spurgeon,Henry,Miracle Baby, Jenni, Jordyn, not sure on Jana's friend Laura. That is just plain crazy! Then again, TLC probably paid for all of it! If John David flew any of them there, which I don't believe he did, but IF he did, I could see Boob inflating the cost and pocketing the money, after all, thats what they worship, MONEY!

Poor Joe. Can’t dress himself. Wrinkled shirts, unhemmed pants in his own wedding, too lazy to plan a unique proposal and zero personality. He is so up tight. Someone needs to remove that bible from his tail. He has the warmth of an ice cube. These cult guys are the worst!!!

Mickey2942 said...

Ellie, Anna stays with Josh because she truly believes she is a "used spit cup", and that she needs to stay with her husband, no matter what.

The double standard is glaring, if Anna had cheated on Josh, she would have been cast out, Josh would not have had lectures on staying with his wife in sickness and in health. Or guilt trips about being a better husband. Or that he would not be wanted by another woman because he is no longer "pure".

This cult of misogyny is pure evil. It only gives status to women for bearing children, as many as possible.

Ruby said...

Lisa, yes, they are special. They are television stars with many perks--a morally superior version of the Kardashians. Wait.....I forgot about Josh. I forgot about Jim Slob and MEchelle covering for him.

The wedding was o.k. Just another Duggar wedding. Joy was acting so arrogant. The décor and the navy dresses the girls wore were o.k.; co?uld have been worse. The shoes, however, as always, were a hot mess and detracted from the look, IMO. I saw Erin Bates playing the piano in a still picture. Who was the dark haired lady wearing a dress like the bridesmaids and what was her function? My guess, and its only a guess, but she might be Drew Patton's mother-in-law. Was she in in charge of the flowers maybe? It sort of looked to me like there were several wedding planners. My last comment is about the fact that there were three pregnant women in the wedding - Jill, Anna and Sierra. Nothing wrong with that of course, but just very interesting. I also noticed that it looks like Joe and Kendra used a lot of the same décor for their wedding. Nothing really wrong with that, either, just interesting. I thought Joy's dress was a little plain, but nice. I absolutely love Kendra's however and I am looking forward to seeing her wedding photos.

I agree totally that Joe just has no personality. Jinger sort of hinted that he talks more when you get to know him. I sure hope that is true. I am also calling it now, TLC is going to make a "Fixer Upper" type of show out of some of the Duggar family (Austin etc). I have no inside information, just guessing. There is not much hope of them just going away any time soon.

Stephanie from Virginia said...

Well everyone, I tried I really did but two hours? It was "super" hard to watch. "Super" is their new word, they even had Joe saying it.
Cindy re asking those lazy boys to do anything is super surprising.
Them running out of gas was super annoying but Miss Cindy was super patient with the man children. It's ok to tell your children the messed up or we're irresponsible. They tell them no to so many other things like education and sex, yet the blessings are super irresponsible.
I stopped watching around the time Joy was debating wearing a veil or not. But havnt we seen that already?
I don't know

My husband noticed and reminded me that in the original wedding episode, John David directed the crowd in a hymn sing-along that was LOL funny. I was actually embarrassed for him. Anyway, TLC must have cut it out of the 2 hour special. Well, it was pretty lame.

Cochise said...

Apparently Cindy told them to stop and get gas and the man- babies of the Gothard Quiverfull cult ignored her and promptly ran out of gas. No problem, at least they didn’t let a lowly, inferior woman tell them what to do. The only thing the males in this cult do well is age and go bald. Pathetic!

Whatever happened to Cousin Amy? She was so prevalent in the early episodes! I tried to see if she was in the wedding party, but didn’t notice her.

Ruby: Thank heavens someone thought the same thing I did. All I could think was what a phoney routine. She was so OTT, any normal person faced with a client like the ungrateful Joy Duggar would have thought 'I don't need this crap', and showed them the door. Instead she grinned her way through it all, and even cut a dress in half to make a 'new dress' for princess indecisive, not normal at all, totally staged.

Aunt Bea said...

I'd like to know, what owner of a wedding dress shop flies to another location and hand delivers a wedding dress? No one...no one at all. Frugal Duggars? No way, IMO, is this the treatment every bride receives from "Miss Renee'". Totally paid for by TLC and the free advertisement once again for her and her business. I personally would be quite uncomfortable with an over the top, fake bridal consultant like her. I don't wish her any harm or bad business or any thing like that, mind you, but this TV show is more than ridiculous. What happened to how frugally they live? Why didn't they go to a nice second hand bridal shop LOCALLY and choose an appropriate dress from there? Doesn't Mary Duggar know how to sew? Why couldn't she have modified a used dress for her granddaughters? (The Duggar ones)

Eileen said...

Was Busybody Sierra Jo Dominguez in it?

Good grief.

They usually don't stay friends with anyone this long, but she comes across as doing whatever she needs to do to stay in thejir good graces so she can be on tv.

She probably sends them some chocolate covered strawberries and they are so backwards they don't realize how incredibly cheap, quick and easy they are to make. An untrained monkey could dip strawberries into melted chocolate chips. Everyone makes them, even 5 yr old kids.

Disgusted with Duggars said...

Although I think it's one of the saddest things I've seen anyone do to their children, I have to admit that good ole Jim Bob certainly knew, without any advice from his PR team, or input from TLC either, that courting, engagements, weddings & babies, would most certainly help viewers forget the Josh scandal & the ratings & the show would continue on until none of them are left to marry or produce babies. This is heartbreaking to a mom like me, who really loves her children & wants nothing more for them, than for them to make their own choices in life & be happy & really in love with the person they decide on their own to marry. Someone who is really their best friend & isn't marrying them because they are celebrities or because the family has money. I'm just as happy if they choose to remain single & have a job & friends that they enjoy. Just leave them alone & let them live the life that God gave them. You & Michelle are not God. These decisions about how they spend the rest of their lives should be left to a loving, caring God, not to two parents who are in a back room at a wedding, counting up the dollars & waiting for the number of viewers for that particular wedding. I hope Joe's wedding doesn't top Joy's in the ratings.

Did anyone notice during the "something party' in the girls' dormitory there was a bed in the corner with the name "Laura" on a piece of paper on the headboard? I did and I thought that was awful. Why was this young woman living and sleeping with the Duggars? They never said why she was there, did they? No. The other one was a 'tutor' for the kids....they mean she took over the homeschooling that the MOTHER is supposed to do in their Gothard system for MICHELLE. Dysfunctional, all of them.

Ruby said...

Emma, "Princess Indecisive (Moody Spoiled Brat)", JoyAnnnnnnnna. Miss Renee was tripping over herself to make Bridezilla happy. And now she's gonna have a baby? She is still acting like a baby.

Carlie said...

The girls dorm room had one half of the curtains removed from the window and hung behind the love seat as a room divider. They still haven’t removed those awful ‘seven dwarves’ headboards with the names of children who are married and gone. How about hiring a contractor to put in a divider with air/ heat ducts OR move Jana and her friend to their own room with a door and lock. Let the 4 youngest girls share the dorm. At least we didn’t see that rolling rack of thrift shop rags that serves as their closet. The setup of the dorm just shows how much is expected of Jana to take care of her sisters. Meechelle is right across the hall and should be doing everything for them. FREE Jana!!!!!!

It actually makes me sad, this time can be so wonderful, meeting new people, having opportunities to travel, go to school, work...Instead, she is pregnant, as soon as possible, to start her goal of 19 or more babies. You have your whole life to have a family, another ten years of education and work would not have ruined her life. Although, her sister, Jana is 29, and spent the last ten years at home, raising kids, doing laundry, and cooking.

I read that Jenny was finally a flower girl or Jr. bridesmaid at Joy's wedding. However, at the reception I saw a little girl in a long blue dress just like the brides-maids were wearing, with her blond curly hair, standing beside Michelle. The little girl in a white dress came over & Josie & (Jenny?) were hugging. I apologize if I made a mistake on this but I was sure that Josie was again a member of the wedding party, while little Jordyn was left out again. If anyone else saw this please let me know if this is my error. If it is my error I'm sorry about that.

Maybe JoyAnna really didn't want to get married, but JB insisted she take one for the team as they needed the ratings to keep money rolling in.

I could understand her acting like she didn't care and acting rude. He probably holds it over her head to act like she is thrilled to be marrying her "best friend". (That title Was used incorrectly by Jill -no surprise there- and the others followed suit.)

Melanie said...

Say what you will about Jim Bob, but every time he has his daddy-daughter moment before walking down the isle, he turns into a total marshmallow puff. It's not acting, that's raw, fatherly emotion.

Only Saying said...

Did anyone else notice that when Jill & Derick arrived home at the airport the entire Duggar family was there to greet them with welcome home signs etc.? When Jill & Jeremey arrived at the airport there wasn't even one member of the family there to greet them. Jeremy removed the containers of the dishes & luggage by himself & then they drove to the Duggar house. They either had a rental car, or perhaps someone left one of the extra cars the Duggars have at the car lot at the airport for them to use. Seems like Jill is still Daddy's princess.

Mickey2942 said...

I wonder where they will find brides for the rest of the boys? Probably get the youngest, most naive gals, from large fundie families.

Christine said...

1.3m viewers for this wedding episode. 17KAC and 18KAC used to get those kind of ratings for regular episodes. No wonder they're skipping straight to showing Joe & Kendra's wedding the next week. Even special occasions like weddings are barely pulling in viewership.

Elle said...

Jim Bob was probably emotional because now the girls husbands expect them to get paid instead of Jim Bob.

Mickey:
I think Jill Rodriguez has a number of available daughters that would LOVE to be a Duggar! However, the Rodriguez family is even stranger than the Duggars and I'm betting Jimboob and Mechelle are scared of Jill Rodriguez.

Maybe this is a way of jim bob giving Jeremy the bird for freeing his daughter

Diana said...

Melanie.... When Jim Bob turns into a marshmallow puff in the moments prior to walking another victim...er... daughter down the aisle, he's actually crying tears of joy for his bank account.

Pickel Nickel said...

anyone notice they keep making the first kiss some big deal? one time I saw Jim bod and Michelle giving pointers on this that is gross? maybe if Jim bod would stop kissing his wife in front of his kids who cannot show any affection until wedding night then maybe it would not be a big deal and Josh woud not be trying to have sex with his sisters? And the next bride into the family will be Kendra sister I think one of the twin boys like her?

Stephanie from Virginia said...

Oh yes, I forgot about that too. It was LOL super awesome

Can't stand it said...

I think TLC is ruining their chances at larger rating number. I'm betting 90% of the viewers are so sick and tired of Joy's wedding being drug out. And the real icing on the cake: It was screamingly obvious that Joy wasn't even enjoying the preparations for her own wedding!! If the bride doesn't even want to help plan or make any decisions, why in heck would 1million viewers want to waste an hour or two watching that bs. Seriously, what is wrong with the producers of this show???

Who Knows said...

Oh Melanie, I beg to differ with you but Jim Bob has always been able to turn the tears on & off, at a moments notice. I do think there might have been some real emotion when Jill married but she was always the princess in the family. Jim Bob is only concerned about the ratings & the money these wedding bring in via higher ratings. Those girls were treated as if they were on the auction block like cattle, once Jim Bob realized that viewers not only enjoyed all the preparations for the weddings, but it also certainly helped, probably much more than he could have hoped for, that viewers were able to let the Josh Scandals fade somewhat. Again, using his daughters as he always has. So no, I could never be convinced that his tears are anything but crocodile tears & that's heartbreaking to me. Please forgive me, I don't mean to hurt your feeling & you certainly have the right to your own opinion just as I do. I guess I've just seen too much of Jim Bob's acting over the yrs. to take him seriously. His constant references to all the grandchildren he will have is also suspect to me. Most people just adore their grandchildren but not because they can continually tell everyone how many they have & how many they expect to have once all their kids are married. When a dad points out to a couple that's going to be married within a week or few days, that there's a phone beside the bed, so they can call him if they think they have conceived that night, I have to wonder just what his expectations are for this marriage. Jim Bob has said many times in the past, that they could potentially have 200 hundred grandchildren. It seems that's what his real interest is, not the fact that his daughters are leaving the nest.

Cochise said...

Joy married a red neck, had a red neck Duggar wedding complete with a pick up truck get away. She is now knocked up living as trailer trash. Morning sickness and the shortest honeymoon ever. Let’s just say this Jim Bob is not too bright if this is what he dreams for his daughters. Pathetic.

Meme said...

Who Knows: I agree with you that JB is obsessed with bragging about the NUMBER of grandchildren he will have. This tells us that he's not really interested in these children, only himself. What a virile man he believes himself to be, the creep. It wasn't enough to have all those kids, now he wants HUNDREDS of grandchildren. I'm telling you, the biggest lie the Duggars ever told is the one about being "modest" people. They want fame and they want fortune. What a detestable legacy.
The pride is there. Waiting for the fall.

Deena B. said...

I wonder if Jim Bob taunted his children at other times (off the mini golf court and with no cameras filming) with what all they could do when they were married.
I am not defending Josh, but I have to wonder if seeing things and constantly hearing sandwiches being made in that small house with paper thin walls made Jim really curious. Most kids are curious about it anyway, but to have a dad who was do nasty might make one have even more questions.

I have a feeling Jim Bob was picked on I'm school so this is his way of showing the world how he got the cute cheerleader and she obviously loves to make him lots of sandwiches. It is his way of saying "eat your heart out, to those who always made fun of him.

InVA said...

I don't find Austin to be a redneck. There has been nothing that I have seen to indicate that.

He also seems to really care for Joy. I like how low key he is. I'm sorry for her that she was married off so young, and pregnant immediately after being married, but I think she's in good hands with a guy who is not attention seeking and truly seems to love her.

Mattsmom said...

Why is that Jim bob side hugs his own daughters? I don't understand ?

Just Wondering said...

Re: Mattsmom's question. I don't understand Jim Bob or Michelle side hugging their daughters either. My husband & I both give our daughters loving hugs & kiss them when they come home or when they leave. This is something I've never seen the Duggars do. We love our daughters & want them to know we do. Our daughters also kiss us hello & goodbye to show their love for us.

Just Guessing said...

Re: Deena B's comment about Jim Bob possibly being picked on in school. I remember him saying that he wasn't a very good athlete & was often left sitting on the bench, so I think you're correct about him having an inferior complex in school & now he's making up for it. Now he's king of the kingdom.

Enough Already said...

It just makes me sad that these Duggar kids are so programmed to marry and birth babies as the ONLY path in life. They are so brainwashed and sheltered that they don’t know there are other, perfectly respectful and God honoring paths available. Advanced education is frowned upon. They don’t truly even graduate high school with a valid diploma. It also bothers me that they seem to think it makes them more spiritual to wait to kiss until wedding day. And....how is Joseph going to support Kendra? What career/profession is he in? Well really I could ask the same question about Ben.....Derrick? Jeremy is the only normal, real human! Loved seeing Jinger in short dress & leggings!

Smiling said...

I love seeing the pictures of Jinger. They seem to be doing what one does in the first year or so of ones marriage. Jill and Jessa seemed to become "old" instead of getting to try new things. She seems happy as she distances herself from that lifestyle that sucks the life out them and makes them frumpy.

What do they have to look forward to compared to Jinger? She has her whole life to learn and go and do while the others are stuck.

Ali said...

Re;Matsmom's question about Jim Bob only side hugging his daughters. The same thing applies to Michelle. There is really no love between these parents & their children. Sadly I believe that, Jill, Jessa, & Joy will side-hug their daughter also, their husbands most likely will do the same. They can shout from the rooftop about their love for their children but actions speak louder than words.

Barbara M said...

The parent side hugging of children says they could get turned on by front hugging their own children which is sick. Who even thinks like that except the Gothard followers. Every move is about sex with them.

Ash said...

Well, if they believe they could get turned on by side hugging their daughter then maybe, unlike a normal person, they do.

Gina Marie A. said...

Who even thinks about sex when hugging their children? The Duggars have created sexual situations that don't exist in a normal person...except in their demented minds. No wonder Josh acted out like he did with his sisters.
