same old story again. Joy is still a Tom boy forced to be a girl when she was not ready? Plus more lies about her and austin being friends for 15 years. these people have a lot of secerts.
Seriously, enough with Joy! This has been the most boring season yet. I will not be watching this episode. Wait for the ratings to drop.
No...not another "tour down memory lane" which means cheap rerun costs for TLC. Ah...sweet Joy the carefree tomboy before she was tamed and mentally prepared to be a wife and mother for the Gothard cause.
Hi hum. I can hardly wait.😪😪😪
Yes. Remember her before their version of marriage and babies take hold.
Snooze, this sounds beyond boring, I can't stand stuff like this in my own family, I usually volunteer to work to get out of that stuff...
I predict a slide on the numbers again, below a million.
Thank God for another walk down memory lane with one of the Duggars, it's been way tooooooo long!!
So, TLC is basically calling it a season. I wonder if they're intentionally reusing these boring as heck storylines just for the viewing numbers to drop so low that they can't help but can the show once and for all.
What memory lane? It was a very short time ago that Joy was 'a kid'. She's still only 19. Remember a few months after Jessa's wedding, SHE had to go down memory lane and reminisce about her wedding like it was 25 years earlier.
This will be a wasted, boring episode. TLC has some nerve.
No more Joyless! Please! Her flippant 13 year old naivety and ignorance is a testimony to how TLC has failed to portray this cult as a family of character. They should be ashamed. No more redneck Austin. He is so arrogant. Put down your bibles and go take a parenting class, find an obstetrician and pediatrician. Learn what real prenatal care is all about. Getting a teen girl pregnant on her honeymoon is cruel! Wear a condom!!!!!
Re: Mickey 2942, comments about the numbers for the Duggars. I certainly hope you're right about the numbers dropping below 1 million. I can't believe it hasn't happened before this. How much of courting, engagement, weddings, baby announcements, baby gender reveals, showers, can people take? I would rather remember the old, old, days of the "test pattern," when shows were over for the day. When is the last time anything interesting happened on that ridiculous show? Oh I forgot it's not a show it's a ministry. Seems to me we haven't heard a lot about the ministry either.
Since I refuse to keep them on the air by watching that pathetic show and helping keep the ratings up I know nothing at all about Austin. Just curious what he is doing that is arrogant.
Am I the only one that doesn't see Jessa as gorgeous? I might think she was sort of pretty if she wasn't so haughty. He attitude makes her ugly.
moonglow, "pretty is as pretty does". Jessa is ugly on the inside. Her outer "shell" simply reflects what's going on inside. Not impressed.
Joy Anna was one of my favorites along with Johanna and Jackson when they ere younger. So sad to see how the cult bends the spirit of the young ones until they break and become card-carrying members of this sick cult.
Personally, I don't think Jessa is a beauty. She's attractive, but has that big mouth that she can't seem to keep SHUT when she laughs. She looks awful every time she laughs or smiles with her mouth OPEN. She does resemble those brat dolls.
Jana is a true, natural beauty with delicate features. Jessa's features are not delicate.
Poor little Jenny seems like they were able to break her spirit at an even younger age.
Go figure that Jessa is really popular with women around her same age. They see her as very likable and like minded. I just don't see it. As others have stated I don't see her as attractive whatsoever, all I see is her pointy chin and her big mouth and a haughty attitude. But I guess a lot of people mistake physical beauty with intelligence and power and envy. If I was stuck in a room with her I would not be able to have a conversation with her at all.
Who could Jessa ever be popluar ? some young women her age married to a man with no job and a girl with no education? only a fudie would envy her why because she has a tv show and some money? I bet Jim bod and Michelle are big stars in their fundie world? Jessa will have another child by next year and be more unhappy as the years go by Ben will be also. some time in the near future this show will end. Only one who seems really Happy is Jinger and I really think Jessa may envy that girl because she has been married for almost one year and no baby yet. I think Jermey has put his foot down and said no baby for a while. Keep up the good work Jinger because she is the only one I really like in this family. I aspect the younger one will be running wild because their will be no one to take care of them during the teenage year.
No I never thought Jess's was that pretty. I think Jana, Jennifer and jordyn are the beauties. Jess's is a hateful witch. Joy has turned out to be her clone. Jill is just uneducated. Jinger is pretty too. I used to like joy but now I can't stand watching or listening to her. She is so arrogant.
Smokey,
I agree with you. Jana, Jinger, Jennifer and Jordyn are the beauties.
Talk about rehashed! Clips, clips and more clips! Mostly from 19kac, but some Counting On clips thrown in. Couple of odd things about this particular episode. First thing is that Joys siblings are getting "wedding gifts" together for Joy. But here's the strange part, the gifts had to reflect something new, something borrowed and something blue. HUH!? When I got married I WORE something new (wedding dress), something borrowed (earrings), and something blue (garter). NEVER have I seen that done in the context of giving gifts to the bride and groom! Please someone, correct me if I'm wrong about these items being gifts!
Jessa got some new kitchen items to give. Jana fished out some white hardhats, YES I SAID HARDHATS! And she had family members write their best wishes on the hats. Jinger spray painted a small silver metal looking container with a can of blue spray paint and proceeded to fill it with blue colored sundries...blue bandanas, blue suckers and candies..... Then we had Jason, Josiah and Jeremiah, now I may be mistaken on exactly which boys they showed, so, I'll just say it was 3 Duggar boys and their names started with a J! Lol!! Now what they did was interesting. Their job was to find something borrowed. They dug out an old beat up green Coleman camping stove. But the next gift is what made my eyes pop. Oh, forgot to tell you, the boys went to the infamous Duggar "Warehouse" to dig out borrowed gifts. So what made my eyes pop!?!? A BOOMBOX!! They even made a reference to Joy and Austin "Rocking Out"!! (Paraphrasing) but rock and roll was mentioned, but not in a sinful way. Now how do they know what a boom box is or what its used for and why did they have it!?!? More Duggar tall tales about not listening to anything but Christian music! I guess maybe Daddy Duggar had no control of this episode? No way would he have even allowed us to know he had an 80s, 90s boom box at the compound!
Austin again said he bought God into the matter? ok that may be true to a point but Joy is way to in mature to get married and have a family? and a house flipper in a no where town cannot support a family? I would love to really talk to him and I know he would not be thinking at 17 lets get married? makes no sense again. in a few years in will become depressed as Ben and Derrick has.
Diana...I've only seen that one clip, and not the whole episode, so I can't put the whole thing in context, but I thought the same thing. "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue..." refers to what a bride wears/carries at her wedding. It has nothing to do with gifts at all, and, from what I saw, it just made them look ridiculous, as usual. So nope, you're not wrong.
Oh Jessa. What a trip! Watching her go through her kitchen cabinets, looking for cast-offs to give Joy for her wedding. I mean we all have stuff we never use but few people wrap them up for a "borrowed" wedding gift. Geez! The hard hats would be cute for maybe one picture while working on their new house but I feel like with 18 siblings someone could have given Joy and Austin something decent!
I could not believe Michelle ~ when Joy was giving out jurisdictions to the kids and Michelle is standing right behind Joy nodding her head while Joy is the one being the parent. So so sad how the older children are parentified. Shame on Michelle....your the parent!!!
The Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue smells like Sierra Jo Dominguez was around. Does TLC keep her around to come up with the silliest ideas thinking it will elevate the ratings when people watch to see her latest idiotic ideas?
Was she anywhere to be seen or maybe waiting in the wings, being paid to come up with something hideous?
Thank you LilBit0318 - I forgot to throw something "Old" in my post. So, I guess I'm not wrong in thinking something old, new, borrowed and blue does NOT pertain to the family gifting you those items....Strange family! I also rewatched the episode and the boys said Joy and Austin could use that boom box they dug out to "really rock-n-roll"! Hypocrites I tell ya! Don't tell me those kids aren't at least checking out what's going on in REAL world. Ive just never seen people crank up the trusty boom box to listen to Christan music. The Boob says they don't listen to " any music with a beat". And then, here it comes.....baby voice chimes in.....We never want to stir up lustful feelings that cannot be righteously fulfilled".....wait....baby voice continues...Stirring up such feelings is called "defrauding"! We've taught our girls to NEVER defraud! Us heathens in this evil, secular world must keep our knees and collar bones covered at ALL times, lest we cause an innocent Duggar boy to have to hear their sisters say NIKE! As most of us are aware, the females say NIKE whenever they spot a female dressed in " defrauding" duds, thus allowing any males in their group to quickly avert their eyes. As per cult rules and regulations - Its always the females fault! And we see how those rules have allowed Boob and MEchelles oldest "blessing" to avoid having to take any responsibility what-so-ever for his actions. Just let daddy handle things. If Smuggar needs a quick out, just blame Anna! She will happily tell the world that she knew all about Mr. Quick Fingers and how he lightly, inappropriately touched his sisters while they were sound asleep. According to daddy, they didnt even know it had happened! Just harmlees, inappropriate touching by a young, curious teen-aged boy! No biggie! Bunch of liars that family is! One more thing - If they don't do TV, how did Derelict know about Jazz?
Of what use would a hard hat be to Joy would be invariably pregnant almost every year of her married life; or taking care of small children? She would not be available or able to do construction work in those situations. Such a silly show.
Can't believe what a mess Jessa's kitchen cabinet was. The girl doesn't work, she's at home most of the time; clean out your cabinets girl, and keep a tidy house. I wouldn't have wanted to be the person who gave Jessa that food injector as a wedding gift and witnessed her 're-gifting' it to Joy. I'm sure most of those families, who are their 'dear friends' could hardly afford to give wedding gifts to others. That could have been a small sacrifice to buy for Jessa. Unappreciative, that girl is.
I cannot believe there was an increase in the numbers of viewers for this episode of watching Joy up to the old age of 19. It's obvious that the Duggars have no understanding of what the something old, new, borrowed & blue stands for. Also Michelle making the comment that they teach their daughters not to defraud. Well, Michelle why don't you spend some time telling us just what you teach your sons to do or not do, as the case may be. Just an aside, Jessa is at best, an average girl, not pretty or attractive, just average. Who are these people that think she's beautiful?
Its not ok to defraud.
It IS okay to be arrogant, ignorant, judgemental and beggars, barefoot and pregnant in the dirty kitchen..
Mother of the year remember?
Probably the same people who think Jessa is so beautiful are the ones who told Kate Gosselin they talk to their husband the same way she talked to Jon.
I can't believe that Jessa doesn't cook much, or can't cook. What happened to Michelle Duggar's oh, so perfect housewife training through jurisdictions? Didn't she state ON CAMERA that each daughter is given a jurisdiction and keeps it until she masters it? Of course, it's all the housewife stuff, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, etc. Michelle failed with most of her daughters except for Jana.
I see on a lot of comment responses saying to not judge the Duggars but I ask, is this not all that the Duggars do with all of their rules?
I'm thinking now that the reason for the girls lawsuit is because the Duggars don't want to be judged by meer mortal men. They answer only to god. This is why they felt comfortable covering up Josh's kid-touching, because they "parents" believed that they had addressed the problem with god. The biggest problem with this was that we are a land of laws and god does not appear to show up regularly to address such issues. The reason we are a land of laws is because folks like Jim Bob & Michelle sometimes don't always have the best judgement.
Jana and Jill did almost all the cooking, so it makes sense that the others don't know how to cook. John David baked the family's bread until he grew up, then he passed that onto Jinger. They said that on the show. So she at least Jinger knew how to make bread from scratch, and how to do laundry. Jessa was the "overseer", the packer, the closet arranger and helped with the homeschooling of the younger kids so she was probably too busy to cook. The oldest four girls did not seem to get to have much of a childhood because they were busy taking care of the younger kids and running the household.
I am surprised they didn't give Joy some well worn maternity clothes that they wore after purchasing at Goodwill.
That is something they knew she would need quickly.
How far along in her pregnancy is new bride Joy?
It looks more and more like none of the daughters rotated household chores after they mastered them like Michelle said they did. This explains why many of her daughters don't know how to cook....anything. Jill didn't know how to make an appropriate portion of rice....I don't think Jill 'cooked' much before she married.
I agree that Jill did not learn much in the way of cooking. Remember Jana had to come and help her prepare instant rice, which had directions on the box. I think Jill is a dreamer and not an actual "learner" lol. I agree Jana did most of the cooking. I don't even think Michelle ever learned to do much cooking, other than very simple things. I think the Duggars have shown the world over time that their domestic skills are not on par with other large families who try to live frugally. I just don't think they have it in them, except for maybe a couple of them (and Michelle is not one of them, lol).
They boomed out gospel/Christian songs on the boombox, perhaps? LOL
The little ones have their will removed from them at an early age.It starts with blanket training. It's subconcious teaching that if they go beyond the boundaries set, harm will come to them
I think the boom box that was found in the storage unit was from the parents' lives back in the 80s when they actually DID listen to music and dance. So sad that they, themselves are living proof that one can attend school, both private AND public, yet not become an atheist. Yet, they have denied their own children all of the GOOD experiences that life can bring. It's 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater' mentality.
