Some of the older Duggar girls need to deal with their messy hair. Jessa in particular should follow the lead of her sisters Jinger and Jill and chop off her straggly unkempt long hair. She would look so much better.
As for Josie and Evan dressing in the 20s costumes, Jill has shown more rebellion than any Bates by wearing a nose ring and enrolling her son in public school. Jinger runs a close second. I have yet to see a Bates son or son-in-law in law school. Back on the old X Kids and Counting shows, none of the Bates kids showed any departure except when the daughters wear pants after marriage. The Roaring 20s thing is likely a one-off thing and they tend to favor those time periods.
Jessa apparently thinks her hair is just beautiful. I just saw a short film of her, on Facebook I believe, showing how easy it is to curl long hair. She doesn't think it takes much time & effort at all.
The buy used and save the difference family seems to have lost there way into department stores like Dillard’s and nice restaurants. We poor heathens are supposed to do as Dimbulb says, not as the family does.
Jill’s hair is still long by us regular people. They super long hair we know is fundie just looks so country. When Michelle had her make over years ago it looked so good and yet I would have missed her classic hairdo. When I see the original specials my heart aches for those simpler times. “Can you all day ‘perpendicular’?
Michelle’s says sweating, 7 months pregnant with 14 kids, kiddie help, filming, 16 humans living in a three bedroom house without enough beds, food and goodwill clothes that don’t fit the kids. I did feel sorry for her when they first aired. She didn’t have to keep getting pregnant but once they are here she has to raise them.
First sign of trouble from Derek? When he said on camera that Jill told him, in confidence, that she would sneak food in the bathroom to get enough to eat. Jill’s face dropped because that was a secret. This was before Josh Scandal.
Michelle’s stringy unkempt hair absolutely ages her & makes her appear shorter. Also her choices in clothing are horrible,

Michelle may have given birth to her children but to say she "raised them" is stretching it a bit.
Why on earth do Jim Bob & any other Duggars, as well as those that believe as they do, think they should be able to tell others how to live? There are many people who live lives I wouldn't consider, but as long a they are not harming anyone, it' none of my business. I certainly wouldn't consider giving them my opinion. In this country we are free to live as we wish. Just exactly what Bible is that that Jim Bob is always quoting, you know that one that says showing a woman's thigh is being naked, you must always cover your shoulders, etc. Strange that the time they had the free trip to Dollywood & met with Dolly herself, who was rather scantily dressed, there was no problem. Nobody even said "NIKE" once. Guess when it's a freebie it's ok.
When you don't even have enough beds or food for your "Blessings" it's time to stop producing more & more.
Jim Bob has proven his limitations & ignorance by embracing the stupid Gothard cult. The results of JB’s poor decision has effected the lives of his several adult children & not in a positive way. Will JB ever wake up & realize his decisions have resulted in alienating Jill from his life & perhaps soon Jinger? JB needs to grow up.

Even though I am on this site I still do not understand this love affair the public apparently has with the show. I haven't watched in years and couldn't tell you what time or what day the show comes on. Yet I have run across it from time to time and I always stop to see what's going on. EVERY SINGLE TIME there is a new engagement, a wedding, or a pregnancy (usually multiples). Sometimes there's a childbirth scene or two. But what really sticks out is how completely BORING it is. Boring people and boring, repetitive stories.
Michelle is especially annoying. She invites herself to every daughter-in-law's delivery and gives "encouragement" and advice during childbirth. She was worthless as a mother, yet she doesn't mind telling someone else how to do it. Snarl.
I really want this to be over. It's all been done to death and I could not care less about who's having another baby or who is getting married. Please let this show die!
Re:Mickey2942 question about how much longer TLC will support "Counting On." That's an excellent question. Many of us never thought that show would last after the Josh scandal. We heard that sponsors were fleeing from that show. All they did was some re-packaging, change the name of the show, keep Michele & J.B. out of the talking head section for awhile, & there you have a brand new show with wonderful Christian people doing wonderful things, i.e. birthing babies. I hated that they kept Anna & her children on in the aftermath of the Josh scandal, but even worse was bringing JB & Michelle back into the show on a consistent basis. All this, tell me that TLC is not going to let the Duggars go. Josh is still the "Golden Boy," & always will be. The Duggar clan made sure Josh's ice cream birthday party was celebrated all over social media. How many of the other kids, including Josh's own children are pictured celebrating their birthdays? Jordan, Jenny, Jackson & the rest are lucky to be mentioned on their birthdays. So although I totally agree with Mickey, I don't see the Duggar's days as numbered. They are here to stay.
Does Jim Bob realize the pseudo advice he suggests while on camera is received as a joke? Many people including myself press Mute or change the channel when Jim Bob & Michelle are on camera. Someone should tell Jim Bob his advice to viewers will never be heeded & that he does not have the power to tell people how to live their lives or control their lives.
I agree with everything Mia said. I also couldn't care less about the Duggars, their marriages, their pregnancies, annoying Michelle. Yes it's all been done to death. It's way past time for this show to be over.

Watching the "wolf pack" is going to be interesting. Those boys were born when Michelle was popping a kid a year, to keep the "Brand" going.
So, none of these adults, with kids, actually have jobs...aside from John David.
Finally there's a place that seems to snark on Jessa as well! She's even romanticized, excused and leghumped on snark sites. It annoys me so much.
Well Karen obviously Jessa has nothing better to do with her time. She presents herself as one of leisure. Certainly not managing her home or homeschooling her children. Jessa perceives herself as a huge celebrity & just as her Dad she’s delusional. Jessa believes she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth.
I agree with Karen and Sparky. My words for Jessa have always been "entitled" and "lazy". Also arrogant. Her home and yard are at least messy, if not dirty. I think her joy in life is admiring her kids, especially Spurgeon. As far as Ben, he is the same as Jessa. I can't picture him teaching the younger kids. He might have patience but I can't picture him with any sort of enthusiasm or energy for that task. He comes off as super lazy, unconcerned and not ambitious at all. Does he not realize his children will need things in the near future? He may be a sweet and kind person, but he needs to up his game a LOT. If we are wrong about them, they need to let it be known and adjust their public perception a little. JMO.
No reality program will last forever once gone the buck $$ stops there. No gravy train when that happens perhaps Jessa & Ben as well as the remaining Duggar’s will finally get a TRUE dose of Reality!!!

Mickey wow yes good point I definitely believe marrying into the Duggar family will destroy ambition as well as motivation, self esteem & confidence. Also once in the Duggar family new members learn to deceive.
Jessa needs a dose of reality. Most young mothers are working outside their homes. They are hauling young kids out of bed early in the morning to go to church daycare programs or to a babysitter's. Then Mom works a fulltime job. After work it's ballgames, homework, dinner, baths and bed, with Mom and Dad juggling those responsibilities. There are husbands to feed and houses to clean and laundry to wash most every day.
Jessa and Ben with their lives of leisure make me literally sick. They have NO IDEA what most young families go through. They aren't living in reality on that fake show and they aren't independent at all, living out of Pop's pockets. Better hope nothing happens to Jim Bob or they'll all starve to death.
Today I found myself on Facebook. Occasionally, there are brief film clips of various things about the Duggars. Today's was an older one, back when it was too early for an ultrasound to determine the gender of Lauren & Josiah's baby. Since they just couldn't wait to find out, they decided to have a blood test done, to find out the gender. Lauren's (friend, always a friend) who just happens to be a nurse, came to their house to draw the blood. It was vitally important that no males be in the vicinity of the procedure, so as not to taint the blood with male DNA. I am a nurse myself, (albeit retired) & I have never in my life seen a nurse draw blood without gloves on, but this "nurse" did. I was appalled. I wouldn't draw blood on my own daughter without gloves on, for fear of transmitting something harmful to her, especially if she was pregnant. First, why does ever Duggar have a "friend" for every purpose under the sun? Second, don't they realize that those of us that do these jobs for a living, will notice something isn't right with the way their experts perform what are often professional procedures?
I had not heard the story about Lauren's blood test at home. I too am appalled. These people really do have a lot of time on their hands. They need something productive or of value to occupy them. Lauren did not have any children to attend to at that time. I guess she was just sitting around the house bored and so spoiled she couldn't wait for an ultrasound. Really> I hope I am not too harsh but I mean, year after year, MOST of them just do not even work or anything. Not really much to admire with them as a rule. Oh and, no "Just Unbelievable", they do not think people will notice. They always forget the rest of us are not quite as "dumb" as they are.
Oh my God, you don't ever draw blood without gloves on! Gloves are also worn when giving any injection i.e. flu shot etc. It's true, every Duggar has a "friend" that is what they consider an expert, in whatever task is needed. It can be construction, it can be medical, they always have that "friend" in their back pocket. It's only a guess, but my guess is, they are not billed for these services. Do Josiah & Lauren even know the cost involved in having a nurse come to your home to draw blood, just because you are anxious to know the gender of your baby? This obviously wasn't a medical emergency, which might be an exception, where the Public Health Nurse might possibly come to your home. Even with the best medical insurance, something like this would never be covered. Even if the nurse didn't charge them, there would absolutely need to be lab fees etc. Another guess, they don't have the best medical insurance.

I hope this is an essay pregnancy for her, and that she doesn’t have too much miscarriage anxiety (I know that was a real fear for me for my pregnancy after miscarriage)

Joy Anna and Austin had a helicopter fly over and drop pink confetti to tell the fam they are pregnant with a girl. What’s with all these gender reveal antics anyway. With so many pregnancies and babies, how exciting can the gender really be except to the couple who is pregnant.

It seems they both have poor judgment as their $$$ could have been spent on something more worthwhile or practical. Apparently Joy hasn’t learned frugality from her parents.
I thought Joy & Austin were living in a trailer...not a mobile home but a trailer that looked like it was used for construction, a job Austin does. Joy is always saying she hopes they will be moving into a house. They had shown them in a house, when the women were shown preparing the meals for Joy to have after she gave birth the 1st time. I thought that was their house but the next time I saw them they were in a trailer. Just can't keep it straight.
Willow, I don't think your comment is mean at all. Josiah was home while Lauren was having the blood test, so apparently if he works,(that's a big IF) he has a very flexible schedule. I also agree with Another Nurse, it would be costly to have that type of test done. Even if the nurse was a "friend" & not charging them for her services, the lab fees would be costly. Of course, they stressed that they just couldn't wait until it was time for an ultrasound to find out the gender of the baby. They really are a spoiled & entitled group. I know Lauren had a miscarriage (at about 5-6 weeks) I am sorry about that, but she does seem spoiled. If you really desperately want this child, be happy you're pregnant again & wait for the ultrasound. The blood test isn't going to change the gender of the baby.It's either a boy or a girl. Just wait awhile. With all the gender reveals & huge amounts of money spent on them, do any of them know there was a time in this life when you couldn't know the gender, until the baby was actually born?

Since Austin is a pilot, perhaps one of his pilot-friends offered or was asked to do a fly-over and drop the confetti for them. That would be like a gift to Austin and wouldn't have charged him for it.
Are most of the young men, either Duggars or in-laws, now pilots? When did that become the job for these young men. Never heard anyone except John David say they wanted to become a pilot. Even a private pilots license is difficult to obtain. Rather than a friend volunteering their services, for the gender reveal, if they in fact did, why wouldn't they have John David do it. H's been a pilot longer than most of the others. If a friend did do it as Gracie mentioned,that's a rather costly gift for a gender reveal, not even a baby shower.
To kids the Duggar’s are promoting a lifestyle of zero ambition, no education, lazy behavior, continuous pregnancies & entitlement. That’s not Christian behavior. It’s a lie & so wrong. Someone needs to deal with Jim Bob he’s not a nice person. TLC needs to wake up. I hope the numbers for Counting On continue to plummet.
Lauren Duggar defines the phrase Drama Queen. Every time she’s on camera she’s overly emotional. Perhaps she’s attempting to gain sympathy for what I don’t know. Lauren just appears to be unhappy. I think Lauren is just really immature.
Yes, I think the helicopter was extravagant; they do know lots of other pilots for sure. Joy and Austin have a permanent home now. It is very nice and I am so happy she is settled for this pregnancy. I give them a little bit of kudos as Austin has a real job and Joy was such a trooper about living in the camper. As far as that little Gideon, he is the cutest kid ever. I think he has surpassed Bradley Bates and Spurgeon as kid with the most personality. :) My prayers are with all of you during the pandemic. Love you all and stay as safe as you can.
Agree with comments by both Sparkey & Size. Re:Lauren's behavior,yes she is playing a sympathy card. She doesn't want anyone to forget for one minute that she suffered the miscarriage. Joy on the other hand, has continued on with the attitude that's what life hands you, continue on with Faith & hopefully good things will come your way. Granted Joy did already have one baby when she suffered the miscarriage, where it was Lauren's first pregnancy. I understand that Lauren had this miscarriage at a few weeks along. Joy was so much further in her pregnancy. It doesn't make one worse than the other it's just how you handle it.
I wonder if the Duggar clan is practicing social distancing by not having all the married kids’ families over?
Lauren is not the first woman in the world to suffer a miscarriage, far from it. Why did Josiah marry this girl? All she does is whine and cry and bring the drama. She thrives on attention - which makes her a great Duggar.
As far as the cost of the confetti-dropping helicopter, let's revisit a hard truth. Duggars (especially Jim Bob) DON'T MIND ASKING FOR FREE FAVORS! Many of us might wish we could do the same but we don't. We don't want to put someone out or take advantage of them. The Duggars feed you a frozen lasagna meal for your costly efforts and call it even. Such absolute clod clones of their patriarch.
My guess is the Duggar’s will Never Follow the guidelines as set forth or suggested by the government they believe this virus doesn’t apply to them that God will intervene on their behalf.

Lauren comes off as so, so needy. Always whining & seeking pity. What does she hope to accomplish from viewers? Does TLC script this behavior for Lauren? On camera Lauren’s facial expressions always appear to be in great pain. I feel sorry for Josiah.
So 19 year old Katie Bates is in a courtship can’t recall the guys name. So I am sure another Bates wedding will soon follow then a pregnancy. Will these fundies ever break this tired pattern? Geez!
Katie Bates boyfriend Travis Clark lives in New Jersey so a large percentage of their courtship is long distance.
I don't believe Lauren is following a script from TLC, this is just how she normally is. Josiah has always wanted to be front & center, playing pranks & always having something vitally important to say just like his parents & Josh always did in the talking head section of the show. He's all about himself & I'm sorry but he got what he deserved in Lauren. Good ole Jim Bob has made sure that every available young man was married off (the same with the girls)Josiah showed up for the wedding, took the vows & now he's stuck with a winey,immature girl. He's made his bed & now he needs to lie in it. Lauren will never forget the miscarriage & that's understandable, but she will forever be reminding this new baby, that she has an older sister, what her name is, she's just not with them here she's in heaven. She will always focus a great deal of attention on the miscarried baby
I think that Lauren will always continue to whine about the miscarriage she’s incapable of moving forward. Lauren has a beautiful daughter & should focus her attention to raising this child. Lauren should not burden this child with a constant reminder of the child she lost. It’s called being a mature adult.

Why are the Duggars so obsessed with gender reveals? Are the Duggar’s so oblivious as to what many Americans think of them & it’s not impressive. I don’t understand why the powers that be at TLC want to continue with a reality snow that has the same boring story lines a show that never evolves? A show that promotes a unrealistic view of life why??
Although the Duggar’s enjoy a comfortable lifestyle why does Jim Bob continue to sell viewers his family lives in abject poverty? Is JB really that dense or unaware that no one on this Earth believes his tripe?
Perhaps if Lauren was older & better educated with capability to think clearly (frontal lobe) she could move forward & not concentrate on the miscarriage?? The fundie way of life holds her back. Therefore Lauren seeks attention & sympathy because she’s limited.

I'm not sure what Lauren's childhood was like,but I do know sometimes ppl will seek things in marriage that they didn't get growing up,like a lot of attention.Now Lauren has a husb. and an audience to give it to her,perhaps that's what's happening with her? Austin, Joy and Gideon are the cutest little family ever. They always seem very happy. Can't wait to see pics of the new baby.
Clearly the Duggar’s & Bates live in their own fundie world of delusion & pretend land. So many of their absurd rules are not Biblically founded but Gothard founded it’s a limited way to live life.
While I wish Joy well I can't get excited about another kid being born in this mindset. It is already risky for her yet they will continue having kids.
