I guess Derrick's new plan is law school. Whatever happened to his plan of being a minister? Isn't that why he did an internship at Cross church?

This must be his next step in not growing up and actually working. Just live and support his family on student loans. Lay around the house and study. Good luck with that. Unless law school in Arkansas is significantly different than other law schools, it is a full time job, studying at the library.

How long will this last?! And when will Jill be pregnant again?

Ashleigh said...

They can’t afford anymore kids, they can’t afford the two they got. I think Jim bob is regretting his choice of husband for Jill. Derick gets fired from Counting on, wasting time pretending to be a missionary, begging for funds. Now law school. When will the man grow up.

Ellie On a Roll said...

I wish the Duggars were honest people. They can't even disclose a true wedding date for fear of "fans" finding out? Seriously, they don't have that many fans. No matter what they do, it's always half-truths and blatant lies. How is that being a good Christian again???

The latest "season" of CO is a mixed-up timeline of events. Again, I don't know if they think we're idiots or gullible, but it does nothing but add another black cloud over them not being truthful.

And Jessa, Mechelle and Jimbob can take a few episodes off. So sick of hearing their voices and see their faces.

I wonder why "cash strapped" Derek doesn't make a deal with UP or some different cable channel for an update or tell-all interview? If he knows how to negotiate, he could earn enough to pay for law school tuition. I do feel bad for Jill and the boys. Haters really say some unwarranted things about her.

Mickey2942 said...

The real question is, if you were an employer, would you hire him? Even with a degree in Accounting and law school?

Nope. His vitriolic comments about women, transgenders, gay people, make him toxic for any work environment. His Instagram and Social Media presence have made his noxious personal hygiene habits public record. Shudder. I guess he can do self employment...he couldn't even learn Spanish, his kid was speaking better Spanish than he did by the time they left.

Aunt Bea said...

I guess Jim Bob didn't quite interpret the Lord's guiding response for Jill's husband. Apparently, Derick isn't what Jim Bob had hoped for Jill. I thought in their world, the father NEVER MAKES A MISTAKE when he prays about things...a flaw in their system?

Andrea said...

They can’t afford anymore kids, they can’t afford the two they got.

While I agree, not being able to afford something has never stopped the Duggar in the past. Until TLC came alone it appeared Jim Bob, Mechelle and her brood lived in poverty in a three bedroom, one bath rental with not enough food to go around.

I think they need to rename the show "The Divided Dysfunctional Duggar Family" like it is.

Seriously. Look at all the ostracized family members:
Josh
Anna
#1 M
#2 M
#3 M
#4 M
#5 M
Amy
Amy's Hubby
Grandma
Jill
Derek
Israel
Samuel
Derek's parents

I happened to see the episode where Jinger gives birth & Jessa & Ben arrive with their 2 kids. Apparently they have plenty of money, as they flew to Texas at the last minute when the heard that Jinger was in labor. They also flew commercial airline, not in John David's plane. That means they bought their tickets at the last minute when they heard Jinger was in labor. Also Spurgeon was not a "lap child" he's too big now & had his own seat on the plane. Another expense for Jessa & Ben. My husband is an engineer & works a 40 hr. a week. I am a nurse & work a full week. We also have 2 children & could never afford to drop everything & at the last minute hop on a commercial plane to see my sister's newborn. This must have been paid for by TLC. I personally didn't think it was necessary or even appropriate. They should have left it at Jeremy's parent's being there for their first grandchild's birth. They could have left Michelle, Janna & Laura out of the episode too.

Heart in Florida said...

Also left out of episodes is Ben Seewald's father and most of his siblings. On the last episode, we saw a snippet of Ben's mother at Henry's 1st birthday party. That's it. There are more and more family members being excluded. Time to wrap this dying program up.

Derick is a man-baby, with a spouse and two kids. His twisted patriarchy beliefs make him the sole bread winner. It is way too late to be playing around trying to figure out what you want to be when you grow up. Jill should be in school along with her two kids. Derick should be kicked to the curb.

anyone notice there are no courtships and no one is going to have a baby? wondering whats going on. there going to be nothing left for the show. only ones who could be in courtships would be those twins or Jana. and it will not be Jana.

In a recent article about Joy & Austin's fears as new parents, she comments at the end "I haven’t ever seen a guy give so much of himself for his wife.” So I guess that means Jim Bob never helped Michelle out of bed after any of her C-sections (or regular deliveries) and took over family duties while she recovered. Not much of an example for his daughters.

roddma said...

Recently Lawson bates did a wedding photo shoot with an strange female even touching her hands and his arms around the waist. I don't have the photo link, but I would be livid if I were the girls in that family. The Bateses are starting to show blatant hypocrisy.

roddma said...

Also does anyone notice how the Duggars and Bateses call unborn babies "it"? Kelly Jo and Michelle have and here lately Austin. It seems contradictory to the belief of life being 'precious'. I'm not very religious and don't like referring to an unborn as 'it'.

Danielle said...

Anna Duggar made a special announcement that she’s not pregnant. Just fat.

Willow said...

Austin didn't know the gender of his baby ahead of time. At least that is what they say. He DID call Gideon "it" after he was born though; I also noticed that.

Stella said...

Do you think we haven't heard about any pregnancy announcements because they're going to announce like 5 on one episode just to get ratings on the final episode this season? Let's see:
1. Anna
2. Lauren
3. Jessa
4. Jill
5. Joy or Amy or Kendra

Observation.. said...

Anna is not fat. She looks great. I hope she doesn't get a complex about her weight because she people asked if she is expecting. Sad that people jump to conclusions over a wee, I do mean teeny, little belly chub. She's had 5 kids, it is normal. She looks healthy! She is a pretty girl.

Ashleigh said...

Wait I don’t understand why is grandma ostersized or kicked off the show? What has she done to be treated thus?

So Derick has 'attacked' TLC on twitter again. This time he tweeted in response to someone who apparently pointed out that the channel aired an ad for Ellen DeGeneres during the break, Derick said he hoped the family show would move to UP tv soon. Someone then asked what shows he did watch on the channel to which he replied he didn't watch any of them and encouraged others not to watch the 'filth' on TLC and other channels. Sounds like someone is still upset he was 'let go' and is carrying a huge grudge, how unchristian. Derick is being a hypocrite with his comments, his in laws have earned millions down the years from TLC, and would not have the lifestyle they have now without it. Derick was happy to be on the show at one time, he seemed to enjoy the fame (by association), he allowed them to film his courtship, wedding and first childs birth, he also was happy to let them follow them to central America on their 'mission'. He has his platform today due to his association with the Duggars and TLC, without them no one would know or care who he was. I also liked the comment from someone else who pointed out his own family must be filth too because their show is on the channel,oh and because of Josh! UPtv wouldn't touch the infamous Duggars as they already have the Bates, unless Derick knows something, maybe TLC is getting ready to end Counting On, we can wish?!

Sara said...

I don't see that much online about the Duggars these days. I wonder if the interest is waning.

I don't understand the ratings system too well. Can someone tell me if these ratings are good and therefore the show will continue?

Me Again said...

Re: Stella's comment about a possible announcement of 5 pregnancies. Although I don't think that will happen in the last episode of the season. What is really strange is there has been nothing & I mean nothing new on any episodes of this "new season." All that's been shown has been repeats & repeats. Good thing we have had Jessa to entertain viewers with her incredible personality & knowledge of what's happening in everyone's life.

Sherri said...

Austin is a red-neck jerk. Joy is a sad, pathetic woman who is trapped. They are playing house because they have no choices in life because they are uneducated. Put a condom on him, get a GED and stay in school until you can work your way out of this hell your family created for you.

Sharla said...

The number of viewers is self-explanatory. Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

I include the relative position of the show on the day's cable ratings to help with the question of good, bad, or indifferent. It's all relative to how the others shows on that network are performing. 900K viewers can be good to excellent on UP while it would get you cancelled in a minute on another network. The Duggars have been drifting down overall again. If they consistently start staying below 900K to 1 M viewers per episode, then we might think they'll be on the bubble for TLC depending on their relative position at the network. It also depends on the cost of production. When people ask why Mary or Amy isn't shown any more, it's likely a cost factor plus they kind of burned their bridges with TLC.

Omg... I just saw a photo selfie of cling-on Jilly-muffin and Derek in a law school class. Apparently Jessa babysat while the two "study buddies" attended class. Seriously, anyone else recall the Walmart debacle???? And it only took about a week and Jill was going with Derek to class. I suppose now Jill will claim she's a "paralegal " or something. Good grief.

roddma said...

Re; Joy being sad and pathetic

It may sound that way to us but not to them. She is living the ideal life in her mind. It is sad they can only look forward to marriage and babies. Carlin Bates is pining to marry and Josie will likely before her. You think they would look at situations like Anna and Josh or even Derick and Jill and be glad it isn't them.

Im no fan, but I give Gil and Kelly (mostly Gil probably) credit for putting the breaks on Josie and Kelton. Kelton had an interest in Josie when she was 15/16 and him a college guy. He whined about no being able to court a 16 yr old and said in the engagement message he had to forgive Josie. What did Josie need forgiving for other than being too young? Marriage can be a wonderful thing, but I'm afraid they are given a rosy picture and it is their only measure of self-worth.

Willow said...

Yes. This is my complaint also. I could be somewhat happy to continue watching the Duggars/Bates, IF they keep Josh off for good and cut back on JB and Michelle again, AND stop showing the clinginess of Jill and Derick. It sets my nerves on edge and I can't take it. If it is happening, just don't tell us anything about it. (I realize this wasn't shown on the TLC show itself, but we still found out about it) I wondered if Jill and the kids moved down to Little Rock with him and I guess I will assume they did. But why Jessa babysitting? That makes it even more confusing. Makes no sense. Jill and Derick are their own worst enemies.

Amita said...

Maybe it's Bring Your Wife to School Day?? Being homeschooled (very poorly), being in a classroom is a new experience for Jill. It shows a big lack of trust on her part. If she lets her "best friend" out of her sight, he might strike up an intelligent conversation with a mature woman. Then he'll realize what he's been missing by being married to his wide-eyed emotionally stilted child bride.

Molly said...

Am I the only one who thought the thrift store clothes looked better than what they normally wear? The guys looked nice dressed up - better than the faded jeans and flannel/plaid shirts. The girls looked nice too in actual dresses rather than the two piece top and long heavy skirt they normally wear. Kendra's skirt even looked a LuLaRoe or knock-off.

Something seems off with Derek going to law school. Too many selfies and photo ops around campus. It makes me think he isn't taking it seriously. Plus, who takes their wife to lectures? Just weird. And family dinner time and bday videos??? Who has time as a full time student, husband, and father of 2 little ones for that???? Something is definitely off. Just sayin.

What Law School would allow a student to bring his or her spouse to class with them? That's beyond ridiculous she obviously doesn't trust him out of her sight.

Is anyone else shocked that there hasn't been any pregnancy announcements? Right now, for all we know, zero women in the Duggar Clan are pregnant. For a family that is all about unprotected sex, pregnancy, babies, public deliveries, I find it hypocritical of them.

Tori said...

I really hope the only Duggar girl included in Abbies bridal party is Jana and maybe one of the little girls (Jennie or Jordyn). Abbie has four sisters of her own, plus I am sure she has friends or maybe neices she might want to have by her side. Also wouldn't it be lovely for Jana to be part of a wedding where she doesn't have to sew or alter dresses, her family really takes total advantage of her. I can't remember if it was Jill or Jessas wedding where she was tied to the sewing machine while everyone else ran off to do something fun, she seemed so over the whole crazy gang at that point. I hope JD and Abbie include Jana in their livrs too and help her get away from the compound sometimes, she and JD seem close.

Mickey2942 said...

Drop out? I would bet "kicked out" will be more applicable.

Mickey2942 said...

Jana, always a bridesmaid, never a bride. I think JB has kept her home, cooking, cleaning, organizing, because Michelle's role has been "Breeder in Chief", and not much else for decades. She is perfect in her "role" of wife, but she doesn't seem to be very capable of many things. Which is perfect for JB.

I don't think Jana is the one who doesn't want a husband. However, she is told what she wants...she probably just continues her "role". Getting pretty long in the tooth, no education, never had a "real" job. That is tragic.

Nelly Olsen said...

How can the Duggars not get sick of each other? Seriously, it's always some family event or thing going on. I like my extended family but not 24/7 365 days a year. And I'm just exhausted for poor Jana always being responsible for everything plus being taken for granted and advantage of.

Ellie On a Roll said...

I am soooo happy for John-David and Abbie! Now just let's pray to God they live in Oklahoma by her family. It's pretty selfish of Jimblob and Mechelle to assume all their adult children want to work and live on or near the Duggar Compound.

For Derick to qualify for Law School, he would have to pass the LSAT. That is not easy. Here is a link on how to apply. Notice the line that says applicants must pass "legal profession character and fitness requirements." Hmmmm...

There is no pass/fail for the LSAT. There is a score that the applicant gets when they take the test and it is considered along with grades and other factors in admitting students to law school. Character and fitness requirements are more like is the person a felon.

Pugsley said...

I like Austin. He seems to have been raised differently than the Duggar clan. He seems more mature and he missed having her with him while out skiing. He was cute when he was putting the baby bed together and concerned to tears when she was in labor....which we certainly never saw with Jim Bob or Josh, who couldn't be bothered as he needed his sleep. Austin works and he didn't get all mad when they had the flat. His little baby smiles and acts happy so it seems like their home must be peaceful. He took care of Gideon when Joy was down for awhile after having a C section, instead of whining and having her family take shifts to come in Snd change diapers.

Lizzyb said...

I'd like to clear up some misinformation that's been floating around this blog site regarding Derick's law school admission/attendance. I am a practicing lawyer for almost 20 years so I do know what I'm talking about. Law school admittance is based almost solely on the LSAT score, college GPA and character references. A minimum background check may be done by some law schools but the intensive check is done prior to sitting for the bar exam or (as in the case of FL.) can continue after the bar exam is taken but prior to being sworn in.

I don't know of any state bar association which would exclude Derick from being sworn in -if he passes the bar exam- based on his narrow minded comments. I don't agree with his comments and have never cared for him but he DOES have the right to express his opinion even if most don't agree. A law firm certainly has the right NOT to hire him based on views that are not compatible with the firm's mission statement but he can be admitted to law school (assuming he meets the criteria) and admitted into a state bar if there are no other extenuating circumstances such as an actual crime.

Just Asking said...

Am I wrong or were the episodes shown this week on "Counting On" just shown the week before? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Austin sound just like the rest of the Duggar clan & extended family talking as if he was an expert on marriage, after how long married? He may see some things that he thinks could lead to divorce but he is hardly an expert on marriage. Not one of those couples are experts on marriage & should be giving marriage advise.

Only Saying said...

Re: Ellie On a roll's comment about hoping John David & Abbie will live in OK. I don't see John David giving up the house he has & moving to another state. Michelle was involved in many athletic events i.e. roller skating, cheerleading, when she was in High School. Something none of her homeschooled children were ever allowed to do.

Aimee said...

I have always liked Austin best out of all the in-laws. He seems to be truly down to earth and I have felt like maybe he just wanted to rescue Joy. If he really did know the family for years he saw all of the mess they made over and over again with the kids, hiding the Josh issues, etc. I think Joy was probably really his friend and he knew a marriage would rescue her. They seem well matched in that she can be more of her 'tomboy' self as they work on houses, construction, hike, ski etc together instead of her wasting her young adult years "helping Mama" around the house. I hope for their sake that their friendship can make many years of happy marriage.

Mickey2942 said...

She also was allowed to date, and actually choose her spouse. And, she didn't spend her life taking care of her Mother's children. Probably why she was able to learn how to rollerskate, and do other activities. She didn't have babies and toddlers to take care of.

Mickey2942 said...

You don't ski much, hike, once you have a baby, and keep getting/being pregnant.

Mickey2942 said...

I know this much, law school is a lot of work. Study and library time is crucial to success. Derek, hanging out on the sofa studying with a toddler, and bringing his wife to class, doesn't really display the work ethic...I will be surprised if he makes it another year.

Mickey2942 said...

"I am Jazz" probably beats the Duggars consistently.

It's not very often that you see Mechelle hold one of the grandkids, but has anyone else noticed she usually grabs them or has a firm hand on their groin area? I recall recently a photo of her with a grip on Sam's groin at a birthday party and just saw a "Throwback Thursday" photo of her doing the same thing to Meridith. Makes me cringe.

What's with that? said...

That is so gross to see someone holding a baby that way.

Aunt Bea said...

Yes, I agree. Michelle, as a child and teenager, was not delegated to cook her mother's meals and babysit her sisters and brother's children. She went to school, roller skated and went to parties like normal adolescents. Her own daughters NEVER did any of those things. How can she think this is right or Godly?...I'll never know. A selfish and lazy kid, who grew in to a selfish and lazy woman.Elspeth, am I correct here?

Bunny said...

I think Michele had a great deal of freedom as far as her extra circular activities went in high school, because she was one of the youngest in her family, therefore she didn't have the babysitting chores etc. Those were probably given to her older siblings. One thing that always annoyed me was when she & her best friend Cindi would talk about going on overnight trips with the football team etc. in their capacity as cheerleaders. They would talk about all the fun they had in front of Michelle's own daughters, who were hardly allowed out of the house or at least not alone, they always had to go everywhere, even the grocery store in pairs. They had no freedom at all & yet had to listen to their mom relive her wonderful days in high school. How could a mother be that mean?

If Abbie is working in the nursing/health care field, I'm sure she has had to touch or exam or wash or dress a man. How does that go over with the Duggar clan? Seeing a naked man other than your husband was a no-no I thought.

My own personal opinion is that TLC could help the show if they would show a little bit of variety in the content. We have seen lots of Jessa and Ben and their two little boys. We know about them. They need, IMO, to concentrate on some of the others. Showing Joe and Kendra and Josiah and Lauren has helped but they need to do more of that as well as the single adults. What is the reason they cannot have an episode about the twins and Jason for instance? Just curious. There should be something better than the thrift store episode. Not informative in the least.

Watched Jill's website video for Michelle's birthday. #1 I was SHOCKED to see her wearing skinny jeans with her mom and sisters over! I have wondered for a while if Jinger and/or Jill wear their new style around the family. I have noticed Jinger still always has a skirt on for the show but is wearing shorter styles and sleeveless tops. But to see skinny jeans was really refreshing! #2 Michelle seemed 1000x more natural and like an almost real person. I think she very much has been playing a "role" both for Jim Bob, then on TV, and then as the queen of ATI speaking around the country. It's completely possible that maybe she just wants to be a person. Also, I have thought for a while now that she seems slower and sometimes unable to come up with what she wants to say. It's sad to think of her life spent saying lines for Jim Bob for so many years.

Mickey2942 said...

I think that would really show up the dysfunction in this family. I don't think those kids got much of anything, Michelle was wrapped up at that time by having as many kids as possible as quickly as possible. Jim Bob was out hustling the "brand". I don't think those kids got much attention or education for years. The older kids received actual parenting and homeschooling, after Joyanna, I think those six boys, are the "lost boys". It would be interesting to see what they do all day around the compound, lumping around..."Duggar Time", they probably get going at around 10am or so...to do what?

Aimee your astute observations about jinger tell us one thing: what a perfect example of a brainwash unable to think or live for themselves. Example: when jinger posted on IG-jeremy loves books therefore I love books.
Or jinger saying she wanted to live in a big city, with her 'mother' mopping up jingers idea mess behind her-no no no she meant she wanted to live closer to walmart.

I remembered another one of the Duggars saying the same thing, I think it was either Josh or Jill. It was one of the first of the young adults to marry.

When Michelle's children become adults, she has to be as distant as possible or they might start getting into conversations she wouldn't want to hear about. She does not want them to start questioning her. Just conjecture on my part, of course, but you really have to wonder if someday one of her kids might ask her why they never had enough food etc. It will probably take them many years before they will see it, however.

Hi Missey, It was Jill who said something about having to take their food into the bathroom to eat to no one else would get it. I have to wonder where the 'parents' were when it was meal time.

I also heard Jessa say that she eats quickly, because at home if there was something you really liked on the food line & you wanted to go back for seconds you had to eat quickly or you wouldn't get seconds. The Duggars have always said children are a Blessing & a gift from God, but I believe if your children need to wait in a "food line," in their own home for their meals then you can't afford all those children. So far we have heard Jill, Jessa & Joy say the same thing about the lack of enough food. I like to think that children can go to bed with a full stomach. I wonder if the boys say the same thing about not enough food.

Jimbob and Michelle were living below the poverty line before TLC rescued them

You forgot the Seawalds entire family. Haven’t heard from them since Bens dad wrote a disapproving letter in regards to The Josh scandal. They were on the show frequently and even with two grandsons born they have stayed off camera. Probably their own decision but they are off the show none the less. And you can add “Miss Cathy” to the list of guests that are not on the show either and she was regularly featured.

Maybe he isn’t in actually Law School? If he has an accounting degree only the general ed courses are going to apply towards a law degree. I think he re registered and is trying to be pre-law. Wouldn’t that be what he needs to do first?

The only time we see the lost boys is when a bunch of Furniture needs to be moved. I remember Justin when they were fencing was actually really good at it and the other day they said he was the best snow skier. He may be the most athletic Duggar (besides Michelle) and doesn’t get to play any sports or any athletic activities, it’s a shame

Missy, of course the boys didn’t go hungry in a patriarchal family. The girls would have been the last to eat.

Regards law school, you do not have to have an undergrad degree in pre-law. We have five attorneys in our family and their undergrad degrees ranged from Business to Law Enforcement to Theatre. Having an undergraduate degree and acceptable score determines if you get into law school.

That is really tragic. A lifetime of tater tot casserole, bologna sandwiches. First come, first served. Boys probably got served first, talk about women being treated like second class citizens.

I realize the boys always got first dibs on food & everything else in the Duggar home. I was only trying to be facetious regarding the boys. After all we have all seen the girls coking the food then standing behind the "food table" serving the boys their dinner. They also serve their parents their food. In my home I serve my children as well as my husband their dinner, although my husband helps me every every evening washing & drying the dishes. We have done this ever since we got married. It gives us time to discuss what has gone on during the day.

Well, Jill and the boys brought Derick a "Mexican dinner" to the school and had lunch with him. She has gone to class with him at least twice that we know of. While this is not so horrible in and of itself, its, to me, just a continuation of Jill's clinging nature. She did this when he worked at Wal Mart and we all know what happened there. Does she not mature and grow as she ages? These two are just so annoying. Derick posted the lunch on Instagram and seemed so proud. I'm going to just assume Jill only does this rarely, but I am afraid I'm wrong.

IG video of the family saying happy birthday to Michelle. Josh sounded like he was speaking to a stranger and reading from a script. We look for to what the future brings or something like that. Who says that to their mother for a happy birthday?
Michelle reaching over to Jana holding some small child and saying 'love these grandbabies' in her weird tiny voice. that just struck me as weird. Then why isn't she holding her grandchild? Why was that her response to what josh said?
The whole short video just didnt seem sincere or truly loving or personal. Especially with him bon amd his big head and big mouth right in the middle of everything. Sorry but he just really gets my goat. Something so off about him.

Must be a slow news day, when Derrick gets time, he is at school, so Jill drags the kids out to bring dinner to him. Unemployed, are they living on student loans? I worked and helped my husband get through graduate school. But, I didn't have two babies that would have needed daycare.

The loans they are taking out must be staggeringly huge. Law school tuition, books, and living expenses for four?!
