Regarding the Derrick and Jill situation; I think JB's problem is less with Derrick and more with Jill. I question the innocent courtship beginnings of D&J, that D just emailed JB out of the blue and asked to be a prayer buddy. At that time some of the Duggars attended Cross Church which is a mega church. Having attended a mega church, I know they have a missionary dept. as they have a close relationship with missionaries and religious colleges that have missionary programs. I believe J&D met first and maybe came up with their own courtship plan. Maybe JB found out the truth years later, and feels they took advantage of him.
You mean, they acted like normal kids? Not unlike JB and Michelle, when they met and dated without parents? Wow!
Interested in parents who expect perfection from children, and if they don't toe the line, they are cut out. Maybe Jill is an "example" of what happens when you are "shunned".
That is beyond cruel. And JB didn't treat Josh that way.
It never ceases to amaze me that JB and Michelle raised such selfish children. They made that grandchildren gift for the grandparents and KNOWINGLY shot the footage, gave them the gift, and blurred the pictures of Jill's children. Perhaps Jill/Derick have said "No. You can't show our children. No. We don't want on the show." But more likely they have been pushed out. Not only of filming/show income but of the actual family. Who has a Christmas party/pageant and then doesn't include the WHOLE family. I think it's especially curious seeing as we see them together on Instagram/Faceboook. It's not like Josh's Family and Jill's Family are excluded from the family all together, just when the family is selling-out to the TV show.
No one cares if Jim Bob may have been taken advantage. If he were smart he would have detected the plan early on & he did not.
By accident started watching the Joy labor rerun. Told my nine year old that they have room for that big jump house in their house. He said “well it makes sense they have to fit 39 people in there!” Haha pretty true!
The Jeremy & Jinger.. Ok Jeremy is a retired Pro Soccer player. Hs was paid to play Soccer. May have negotiated a stellar salary, probably invested in a retirement plan as well including savings. Just a guess the Vuolos may be living from the money Jeremy earned savings & retirement plus they could receive $$ from the idiot Jim Bob. Just a guess.
Sometimes Anna is briefly included in segments of Counting On. I bet this really disturbs the pest Josh. I bet Josh is missing the days when he spewed his pseudo advice about courting & marriage which now is obviously a farce. I wonder if ole Josh ever thinks about the “loyalty song” he once sang to Anna? I hope that Josh continues to feel the “sting” of isolation & of being ostracized by TLC from Counting On! I hope this jerk never returns to TV!
I do believe in Jill and Derick's courtship story. Derick did not go to CC at the time. He went to another Baptist Church with his mother near his home. He didn't become involved w CC when he got back from Nepal. And that was CC's first year of the missionary program. CC is a sound, biblical, Baptist Church, Grandma Mary attended for years. The kids,or adult children do not attend there.

I can assure you that Jill and Derrick are very active in church, small groups, service etc...Jill suffered greatly from Josh and she was expected to stuff that trauma down. JB and Josh did a lot of damage to her and she is finally recovering.
I think Jill just wants her father to validate her trauma and that he handled it very wrong. She has forgiven Josh in the sense Christian's do. That doesn't mean she wants a close relationship with her molestor…
Also Jill's closest friend is a lovely woman that tends a different church then J and D, but she is in her 30's and are neighbors. That friend has helped Jill immensely.

Today on line just read that Jeremy earned a very sizable $$ amount of money when he played Pro Soccer. I don’t believe the Vuolo’s are hurting financially. Both dress very fashion forward. I really don’t believe they rely on the idiot Jim Bob which probably bugs Jim Bob because this means JB is not in control. Jeremy May come off as a jerk however he’s college educated a former Pro athlete & I believe he’s quite aware of the stupidity & ignorance of Jim Bob. Just my opinion.
In the past the pest Josh was always one to enjoy being on camera. Prior to the scandal I had a feeling this guy was a true Creep & he proved everyone Correct. What a stupid fool. For a guy with only a GED he had a great job at the FRC & once the scandal hit was Fired. I wonder if Josh has any remorse from his personality my guess is probably not. Josh probably misses the days when he was on line with nefarious stuff & misses cheating. I feel so sorry for Anna she’s stuck a relationship that’s a farce for a marriage. As a child Anna was brainwashed into believing her only value in life was to marry & crank out as many kids as possible. Now with 6 kids she’s probably overwhelmed & will probably have more kids. Good for Jill that she has a female friend to help her deal with the trauma she once endured by her creepy dumb brother Josh. Well Jim Bob has definitely shown his true colors as a Father. Obviously he just didn’t care how this trauma affected his daughters. Jim Bob is not a credible person & does not exhibit one who is a Christian. He’s all about controlling his kids & his married kids through the $$$ from TLC. Jim Bob is s disgusting person. Re Anna & the 6 kids now living in small quarters on the Duggar compound. This is not a real home situation. It’s so sad that through Josh’s actions he’s caused so much chaos & heartache for Anna & his kids. Doubt that he really cares. Very sad.

The main Duggar family (Jim Bob, Michelle, and kids at home) attend Lighthouse Baptist. It's a small IFB church run by Paul Caldwell.
Jim Bob is not the manager. He's the holder of the TLC contract. He gets the money and doles it out to the kids as he sees fit.
I guess its known that Jill and Derick go to Cross Church and the main family goes to Lighthouse Baptist. I think Joe and Kendra and Lauren and Josiah also go to Lighthouse. I would like to know if anyone here knows where Ben and Jessa attend church and also John and Abbie. I have never seen or heard about them. I think John and Abbie took some pics at a "First Baptist" church awhile back but I am not sure what church that is. Just curious. Enjoyed the blog today! :)
I think esp in light of elspeth’s comment-I noticed quite a while back that the married Bates girls +Whitney have some very expensive clothing, shoes, handbags etc but the Duggar girls/Duggar wives on the show seem to live on very meager means (except Jinger).
When TLC renamed the show to Counting On they should have ostracized Jim Bob from everything & put the adult Duggar kids in charge of their own finances. It’s a shame this creep Jim Bob always must stick his pathetic nose into the lives of his married kids. The only two couples not buying JB’s crap is Derick & Jill & Jeremy & Jinger.

How is it that Jim Bob could have the authority to dole out compensation to his adult, married children for their appearances on the show? Isn't that rather unusual? I thought the adult marrieds would have their own contracts for appearances and receive a steady payment for appearances. How did Jim Bob obtain such an agreement with TLC? Why would they let him have such control and authority over everyone? Why would his adults children agree to this? Do they know they have options with TLC? Thank you again for whatever you may enlighten us with.
The way TLC contracts for these family shows is usually with one contract per family. That's how it began. Changing the shows title did not require a new contract. Jim Bob set up an entertainment company and that's the entity that deals with TLC. That keeps TLC out of how to deal with each individual.

Jill is being treated something like cousin Amy was treated. Amy was not allowed to have her Duggar cousins over her house; she had to visit them at their home so she could be 'monitored' and watched. They were afraid that she would raise questions in their children about why she was able to live as she did OR that Amy would tell her cousins about her life. I think Jill isn't allowed at her parents' home without Jim Bob being there for much of the same reasons. I think they are afraid that a conversation would come up about Jill veering from the strict upbringing she had. Same situation, different person. Michelle isn't allowed to monitor, as she isn't the man and the head of the family. Jim Bob has that control. Sad but true, IMO. Jill should tell her parents off and live well without them up her butt.

Back when Derick left Walmart, where he had a good job, did it have anything to do with ol' Jim Bob telling him he HAD to be there with the family to film and maybe Walmart canned him for being gone from work so much? No accusing....I have just wondered this is he took the job at Walmart and it seemed like he spent a whole lot of time away from the job. (Most companies would not put up with it, even if the employee is married into the Duggar family.)

I think Jeremy only played pro soccer for a year or two and was not a major player so I doubt he made big bucks from this. Jinger did say in a recent episode that Jeremy also works in addition to taking classes. They are also “influencers” on their Instagram accounts, hawking restaurants and various items.
It’s called the bates sisters boutique, but they had the nicer items before then. I remember seeing one of them with a big LV bag when the boutique was still in the planning phase.
...I should add, my point was, it made wonder if maybe Gil is a bit more generous towards his kids than JB is to his.
Apparently the story is that Derick chose to leave. I don't know for sure but I have always felt that Derick is somewhat lazy and unstable as he flits from one job or idea to another. He's too old to still be finding himself and what he wants to do.

My take on it: The story may have been that he CHOSE to leave, but often we give employees a chance to decide to leave as opposed to FIRING them. I have a feeling that Derick was given the chance to resign. We have heard that JB insisted he had to be part of the show.....and filming just happened to coincide with when Walmart had the audacity to expect Derick to be there.So JB got his way even if it means his daughter and her family lost income.
Depriving a child of a basic education as well continually telling a child college for them (especially girls) will never happen is a travesty, mean, cruel & a Crime. JB must internalize some real issues about education of which he’s never dealt nor does he possess the intellectual capacity with which to deal. So IMO he’s chosen to take his anger out on his kids depriving them of an education & a career. Jana is an excellent example of JB’s brainwashing. Re Jana... True Jana is age 30 however it appears her development is that of one still in their teens. Jana is stagnant & its not her fault. I never liked Derrick or Jill. But it seems like this couple is at least moving forward with their lives. Jill is becoming her own person. She is not homeschooling her child, unlike Anna.

Does TLC employ a creative team? I have doubts. Curious as it seems TLC is in a rut.. Why the incessant captivation with multiple families? Haven’t viewers been subjected to enough of the same old similar story lines? It’s difficult to watch the CO program now three other large families taking up TV air time. Frankly just can’t watch the other three.
During the Dachelor episode for John David one of the married guys said when your wife has a baby you should stay home for some time. How does advice from a guy who doesn’t work or is not really employed equate? I don’t believe the “family leave act” applies to an unemployed guy.. Duh!

Oh sweetheart, this infatuation is normal at your age. That is true. But you are far to young to be thinking of marriage at this age. You’re still discovering who you are and what you like and want. Part of that can including dating and getting to know someone, but such a relationship 9/10 will fail. And you’ll learn from it. Heck, most kids change their major in university at least once- let alone something as important as marriage.

Watched the 09/22 episode of CO. Was surprised to see that Anna has gained a lot of weight. Justin appears younger than age 17. His girlfriend age 19 I wasn’t impressed. Justin too young to be headed toward marriage. Apparently Justin works for Jim Bob or is he employed elsewhere? Did Justin earn a GED? If Claire is educated I think dating Justin who could be limited may quickly become bored with him. Once again Jim Bob & Michelle making bad decisions re their kids who are courting. This relationship has disaster written all over it. Was also surprised to learn that Jinger is expecting a 2nd daughter. I really expected more common sense from Jinger & especially Jeremy.
Re Anna & Josh wedding reception.. Does anyone remember when cousin Amy tossed cake or something at Josh & the anger Josh displayed on his face was palpable. Jill/Derick's newest YouTube video is very telling. She speaks about her nose ring and says "I did things that I might not have done in the past...due to backlash from people CLOSE TO ME."
Note: Jill is not taking her "fans" into account but her family. Those closest to her are the most hurtful/critical. She also talks about healthy boundaries and being okay with others not being okay.
I really think Jill has been seeing a therapist and clearly is working on herself. I am so impressed and glad that her journey isn't just a pair of pants but really a movement away from the restrictions and authority of her family/their church.
I know many think Derick is too involved in those decisions or that she is just following him. But it does make sense. The work she is doing is HARD and probably very difficult and scary for her. She shouldn't have to do it alone and it's good that Derick is on her team.
If the Duggar's went to a social event or a worship service at the church Jill and Derick attend, they would think it was a rave.(it is a wonderful Bible teaching Church, btw) What Jill has realized is her behavior is NOT unbiblical and I am proud of her. She went to real therapy. I am proud of her but she truly did lose her family and it will likely never be the same relationship. People are always griping about Jessa. Jessa and Ben do not follow the ILBP. He is an associate pastor in training at a Baptist Church in Siloam Springs. Jessa does wear pants occasionally but many women at their Church where pants. I think she is trying to NOT lose her family. Same with Jinger, they are NOT ILBP and they are still in good graces with the big house people. It is Derick that spoke out that caused the initial riff. Now if Jeremy and Ben started saying the things Derick did, I do believe there would be the same shunning.
Just Know What I Know
It is my hope that Derick will complete & graduate law school, take the bar exam & become hired by a respectable law firm. I believe completing law school will provide Derick with additional confidence to deal with the lame & uneducated Jim Bob. I am sure the fact that Derick is in law school must intimidate Jim Bob. I hope too that Jill will further her education. If Jill hasn’t earned a GED that she will pursue this entity & complete & then perhaps go to college. Hoping the friend that’s helping Jill to rid herself from the Gothard Cult will continue to do so.
Aimee, I'm with you. I'm really proud on Jill and all the progress she is making becoming her own person, making her own decisions and claiming her independence. I think she realizes that she doesn't need anyone's permission to make the decisions she's making, albeit making decisions with her husband. I think this metamorphosis is because of therapy. It's truly working for her. I think the therapy is one reason she is not getting along with her parents. She probably realized that her parents didn't protect her and minimized her molestation, acting like things like that happen in a lot of families. I too believe that her sexual abuse by her brother was way more than 'light touching' over their clothes. I hope Jill is aware of the 'me too' movement and that she and her sisters are survivors and don't have to forgive their brother if they don't want to. For the life of me, I will never understand how the husbands of the sisters can be around Josh an be civil. He is the one who should be banished from the rest of the family.
Oh, and Justin looks like a kid with his very first major crush who will be rushed into a marriage totally unprepared. And Claire looks so much like Jana it's scary. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Claire looks much, much older (and more mature) than Justin. What does she see in him? Is this going to be another "Jessa & Ben" relationship where she leads him along and he does what she tell him to do? Duggar courtships are usually very short, with even shorter engagements. He has zero relationship experience and barely any life experience at age 17. This is his first crush and chances are he'll get his heart shattered.
It is sick how the Duggars trivialized, minimized, justified, and normalized Josh Duggar's "curiosity".
I am glad that Jill is becoming her own person. Seeing that there can be a normal family life, without a crowd. And she can have a life, beyond being pregnant every year.

TMI. But, at least Jill does use birth control. As for birth control causing abortions? Stop the madness. Several women in the Duggar family have had miscarriages, not on birth control...so, that makes no sense.
