Why on Earth do the fathers need to go with to pick out a wedding dress? There is something very creepy about this. And let's not forget Jimblob showing the couple the "master suite " of the commercial building he's remodeling into a 9000 sqr. ft. home. (Church) Its so creepy I wouldn't put it past JB having cameras in that "house".

Anna said she thinks it's creepy that Lauren's dad goes with her to pick out her wedding dress. I think it's creepy when Lauren's dad, Kendra's dad and Gil Bates preside at their daughters' weddings. Do you think Abbie's dad will be presiding at her and John David's wedding? I'm assuming that Abbie's dad is some sort of preacher. Thank goodness the only thing Jim Bob did at his daughters' weddings was walk them down the aisle. Can't remember, did Anna's dad perform their wedding ceremony?

If I recall correctly during Jill and Derick’s wedding JB was the one who stood up in front of the bride and groom (and the thousand guests and camera crew) and gave permission that Derick could now kiss the bride. Made my skin crawl.

Yes, its creepy when the dads want to be up close and personal for the first kiss. Its the first kiss part that is creepy to me. Also, how could Lauren have a first-look with her dad before her wedding when he had already seen her dress? Anyway, that is usually done with the husband to be. I have never seen it with the dad before and I thought that was creepy.

Does anyone recall Jimbob asking Jill to call him after the wedding night????? Creepy as hell.

My best friend had her dad (who is a pastor) marry her and I thought it was sweet so I see nothing wrong with Gil Bates and other pastors marrying their children.

Its the girls who had to save their first kiss for their father to see that is creepy. For normal people, the father or other relative performing the ceremony is neat, I agree.

My bet is that this episode will get the lowest ratings of the season. Another snore-fest episode I'll fall asleep watching. LOL

Why isn't she getting a used dress to save money? Doesn't this family have any extra wedding dresses around?!

Jana and John David's birthday was in January. So in Sept they are going to show this. Very timely.

When the midwife asked Jinger if she was familiar with the birthing stool, this is what she SHOULD have said - "Well, my sister-in-law delivered one of her babies while sitting on a toilet. Is it like that?" Lord, have mercy. Why do I keep subjecting myself to this?

I thought the same thing about the toilet. This one had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails. Oh, wait! I am confused.
This was another lame show and time wasted while my beauty was fast fading. ;)

A family ski trip, looking at a birth center and watching someone decide on their wedding gown. Seriously? This is gawk-worthy? Why don't they film them at the grocery store, running around the yard like hooligans on a pogo stick or Josh sleeping,.....wait, they did those. Who wrote those scripts; a six year old child?

Re: Not My Religion's question about Jim Bob possible asking Jill to call him after the wedding night. If I recall, he pointed out the telephone beside the bed when he was giving Jill & Derick a tour of the house & said they could call him after they had conceived. I guess it's not important that they have sex, just that let him know as soon as possible that they believe they have conceived. Basically just the same thing any loving dad would tell his daughter & future son-in-law.

My best friend is married to an ordained minister & he performed their daughter's wedding & I see nothing wrong with that, if fact I thought it was very nice. However, there is a difference in my opinion, between a man who has completed years of seminary & been ordained & performed hundreds of weddings, compared to a man like Gill Bates, who simply heard a call from God telling him he should become a Pastor & set up his own church & started performing whatever ceremonies a "real minister" would perform. I know people have different opinions but to me a minister is an ordained person who has completed yrs. of seminary & then been ordained. The ceremony of ordination is what makes a minister or pastor, whatever he or she wants to be called, and yes a woman can also be a minister or pastor, in my church but probably not in the Duggar or Bates church. I also realize a justice of the peace, can perform the wedding ceremony. Usually a justice of the peace is identified as such & not as the pastor or minister, because that's not what they are.

What is going on? The ratings are actually increasing with each week!! Is is that there is nothing else on Monday evening?

Kel said...

Simple. The ratings go up because people watch.

I think people watching want something family friendly...even if it is boring. Just mute the commercials and there you go.
