All I can say is I hope to God that Michelle, golden child Josie and the rest of the Duggar women stayed home. Seriously, Michelle brings zero to the selection but a bunch of fake emotions and bizarre behavior. Viewers are so over her.
Will Abbie find "the one"? What suspense! They are way too behind on the timeline of actual events. JD & Abbie are already married (happily, we hope) so she obviously said "yes" to the dress and found something to wear for her wedding. Why do they have to drag the entire family to the dress salon? Mom, mom-in-law and sisters (who double as the bride's best friends), I would understand. In other similar cases, we've seen the howler monkeys & lost girls running wild or bored out of their skulls, waiting for their sister-mom to find a dress. Add to the mix a few newborn/toddler nieces & nephews wailing and screaming. Family togetherness is vital to this group. Seems like the whole family is always together, all the time. I think the only private moments these people get is baby-making time. Nothing else matters.
I hate the term "Daddy Duty" it implies that the dad is only expected to care for their kids when the mom isn't around. You never heard of "Mommy Duty." It shouldn't be a big deal for the dads to help around the house and with the kids. HE helped make them after all. I know in their religion, the dad is the big stud and their only jobs are to get their wives in the "expecting way" and hold something that resembles a job, but I still hate that term
For crying out loud. The Duggar’s made a make-shift dress shop for Miss Ranae near the Duggar Compound so Abbie could select a dress. WTH Seriously, anything to include the whole Duggar clan of females into Abbie’s special moment. I’m pissed for Abbie, her mom, and sisters. Those damn Duggar’s always need to control and impose their opinions into the daughter-in-law weddings. And of course, mean-girl Jessa is front and center, bossing everyone around. Do the Duggar’s even have a clue how over the line their behavior is for every occasion? Another all time low for the Duggar’s and violation of boundaries.
I refused to watch this phony bs anymore. We all know Mechelle will be there telling Abbie how “PRECIOUS “ she looks. Cue Josie, the golden child licking something in the background.
In all reality, they’re LYING to us AGAIN. Abbie probably already snuck off with her bridesmaids and mom and selected a dress without all the D women. Renae probably just brought with a few dresses as a front. This is probably just for the fake show.
Re: Not my religion's comments about Abbie's dress shopping. Abbie could always have said no to the offer & said she would either do it her own way with her mom & sisters & close girlfriends, or else she & John would just elope. That would be the end of the Duggars interference, as Jessa threatened J.B. that she would elope (don't remember what the issue was) but J.B. backed of immediately. No big wedding no $$$$$$ coming in to TLC & of course J.B.
What a great idea, with the ratings slipping. How about an exciting & suspense filled episode something like, does Abbie find a wedding dress? Oh that's right they are already married. I guess she either found a dress or wore her nursing uniform.
What happened to "Buy used and save the difference?" The Duggars must have a few extra wedding dresses around.
The show is scripted to make these people look like they actually do something. A mundane day in the Life of Abbie just wouldn't cut it for the show.
They did not go to a dress salon . The dresss store came to their hone.
A couple observations about tonight’s episode.
1. The reason behind the makeshift bridal shop is that Jana & Michelle wanted to help Abbie select her gown but if they flew to Ranae’s shop, who would take care of all the children back at the compound? They don’t have a plane big enough for all the Duggar women and children. TLC budget didn’t allow commercial tickets so they held it in a shed, which really looked like a smal apartment. (Kitchen, bedroom and living room).
2. As nice and sweet as Abbie seems, I can’t help but notice how unkept and dirty she looks. If you can’t keep your hair clean and presentable, just cut it short. Seriously.
3. It was priceless watching Jessa’s reaction to Abbie’s beautiful dress, you can see the jealousy in her eyes! Let’s not forget that Abbie is educated, employed, employable, confident, and marrying a pilot and an elected constible, verses Jessa, who married a unemployed teenager that lives in a dirty, mold house. Jessa must be regretting the bed she made for herself. LOL
4. The bachelor party....why did John David have to plan his own party? Not only that, it was all pranks with flour and very immature. What a letdown for John David. And where were the older men in the family? Abbie’s brothers and brother in laws? Another Duggar party that was cringeworthy.
5. JB and Michelle weaseling there way into every episode is being noticed. Not good. Just go away.
Did Ben say when he & Jessa were first married they lived where his family lives? I thought he moved to AR & was living in a shed on the Duggar property for some time before the wedding & working for Jim Bob? Did I misunderstand him? Was only half paying attention.
The best thing that could happen to Jana is to get married and move away from that BITCH Jessa. Seriously, let's hope it happens soon. Let's pray that Jana escapes before Jessa has any more children for her to babysit and raise at the compound.
My prediction is if there's ever a cat fight going down at the compound, it's going to be between Jana and that bitch Jessa! If caught on tape, RATINGS GOLD!!! LOL
And if Jana does get married, watch Michelle force Jana to have Jessa as her Matron of Honor. It will be another "jewelry box situation".
Apparently, in Oklahoma where Abbie is from there are no wedding dress shops for her to go to with her sisters and mom. Hence, the need for a pop-up wedding dress shop in Arkansas with a very small selection of dresses. There were more Duggars there than dresses. I have to agree with Stella about the way Abbie looks. She is in serious need of a makeover. Her hair is all over the place and she is so dowdy looking. She really has the potential to be a beauty. Finally, would someone please give Ms. Renae a Xanax. I start getting anxiety when she starts talking because the pitch of her voice keeps getting higher and higher. She really needs something to calm her down.
Re: Stella's comments about how dirty & unkempt Abbie looks. Her hair looks so greasy, I swear she runs her fingers through shortening of some type & then through her hair to keep it "neet." If she were to rest her head on your couch or chair, it would leave a grease stain. I saw the picture of her at work & it was at least tied back but as a nurse myself, I know I would be called on the carpet for having such dirty hair while working with patients, who are trying to recover without an infection. It's a shame because her sisters & mother had neat & clean hair. She can't possibly think her hair looks nice, it's certainly not "squeaky clean." John must have grease stains on all his shirts. Boy that was sure an exciting game the boys played dropping the flour out of the plane & a waste of flour that could have been donated to a food bank. No reason for Michelle & J&B. to be filmed in that episode either. What a surprise that Josie had her say in what gown she liked.
I think Abbie's "greasy" look is the hair product she uses to contain her curls and frizz. If you don't experiment and get the right one you'll be using one that's too heavy and leaves that heavy oily look. I tried about 10 before finding one that's light enough and if I apply too much my hair looks dirty in about two hours.
I wish someone would wax Abbie's eyebrows. That's what I kept looking at. I think they're thicker and darker than John David's.
Yes, she does need a makeover. I also am so tired of "Miss Renee" and her soprano fake demeanor. That woman needs to calm down and get real. How much did someone pay her to bring a few dresses to another state so an 'oh, so busy, professional woman' can take time out from her demanding work schedule to pick out a wedding gown? PLEASE. I'm sure Abbie had already quit her job.
Absolutely no reason to waste flour in that stupid 'bachelor party' segment. That was not by any means a bachelor party. Even for religious people. Why was no male from Abbie's family invited, like HER FATHER???? Isn't a bachelor party for both sides of the family?
Abbie' mom looked better than her daughter did.
To sum it up about this episode...WAAAYYYY too much set-building and wedding gown time.
The fact the TLC wouldn’t foot the bill for the filming crew, Duggar women & children plus Abbie, her sisters and Mom to travel to Miss Ranae’s Bridal Shop is an indication that Counting On is low-budget. And 2 out of 4 episodes this season have been at around 900k viewers. Nothing like the millions of viewers when Jill, Jessa and Anna got married. The writing is on the wall along with the downward spiral of the Duggar’s tv series.
I hate to sound mean but Abbie is not 17 or 18 yrs. old, she is 25, has been through nurses training & has a job, or did have one, don't know now. Certainly between her nurses training & the women she works with she could have found the right shampoo by now. When you're in the classroom or in a lab it's one thing but once you are working on the floor as a student nurse, there are rules or how you are groomed. I can't believe nobody has given her any advise on how to shampoo her hair. She's not working in an office, she's with patients who are recovering from some serious illnesses. Most nurses look & are, pretty well groomed.
I agree with Aunt Bea re: Abbie's eyebrows, although I think the hair is worse. I also thought the bachelor party, if you could call it that, was a waste of flour that could have been donated to a food pantry. Also no need or either Michele or J.B. to be filmed in that episode, neither one contributed anything to the episode. Of course, Josie had her say in what gown she liked. Can't imagine any bridal shop owner needing business or publicity so badly, that she would travel to a another state with a handful of gowns.
Thanks for the info Elspeth. I had wondered why they did it that way instead of the usual trip to bridal salon.
I think Abbie AND Jessa need some serious grooming classes. Jessa is looking more and more like a moving bag of rags. Old, stretched out sweaters, dated jean skirts. Her hair was dirty and needed an introduction to a brush. I get the fact that she was newly pregnant when this episode was shot but she really needs to get it together. She knows she is being filmed so why not make a bit of an effort? For years we have been treated to Duggar tutorials on hair and make up and have been told how important it is that a woman’s “countenance” is pleasing to her man. I think that Jessa is so sure of her role as the family beauty that she doesn’t even bother anymore. Sorry Jessa but you have slipped considerably. Wash and brush your hair (or better yet cut off about 12”), buy some decent clothes and not that crap your cousin is flogging. Your prettiness was a good cover for your nasty personality but now the outside matches the inside
Yup...Abbie’s hair is a greasy-looking mess, but what about John David? He looks awful lately! Greasy, dirty-looking, unkempt hair; scruffy face...I’m sorry, but it just looks like he needs a good bath and some serious hygeine lessons! He didn’t even bother to look clean and well-groomed for his engagement photos or his wedding, so him choosing someone on the same level really doesn’t surprise me.
Agree 10000000000%
Less than a million viewers. Can't wait for the viewers to be less than 100,000! Still can't believe people watch this show!
I have t say "thrilling" was certainly the perfect word to describe the way the boys celebrated John's upcoming wedding, although even bowling would have been more "thrilling."
