these people are so phoney? anything they can get for free they milk it for all they can get? Wonder how much they paid Cindy to do Joys Wedding?

This show is many months behind "real time". We've known all about these events for ages. the Duggars have to hold back on the constant announcements in order to make the show any where near interesting.

Bird said...

Its interesting that when they brought Michelle's friend Cindy on the show, they never mentioned her being a wedding planner, did they? I just dont understand what Jimbob has on TLC that would make them keep this trainwreck going...

Molly said...

Why would Jessa and Ben travel on a commercial airline to Texas when Jim Bob owns 6 planes? Jessa made the comment about everyone else on the plane getting annoyed when the boys/babies were acting up and crying. Couldn't John David fly them down there and save the price of the tickets?

Bette said...

I feel like this "new" season is re-runs. Boring stuff.

Duggarsbegone said...

This trip probably took place before Jimdim had six planes. In addition, if John David would have flown them, he would have stayed to hang out with them. Considering Jinger and Jeremy traveled to meet the Seewalds in San Antonio, I don't think the two of them were ready for anyone to come to Laredo so this was a good compromise. Also, maybe Jimdim refused the use of his plane at the time OR maybe the Seawalds chose to fly commercial.

InVA said...

Sure looked like Ben and Jessa were flying first class. Can anyone confirm? Just interested. :-)

When the cost of the show is more than it is worth, I have no doubt it will be on the chopping block. That is why we no longer see the lavish trips to China, NYC. It is, "What is new around the compound?" Courtship, marriage, pregnancy, birthing, repeat.

This show is like "Groundhog Day, gone bad".

Big kite said...

Maybe these people are not as dumb as they seem and fear for their lives flying in planes maintained by dad and flown by bairly a pilot JD, who does not have many flight hours.

Michelle's friend from kindergarten, Cindy, was never a wedding planner ie, a professional one, that is. When she was first introduced some years ago, she was supposed to be an experienced nurse that Michelle left a very young Josie in her care. Michelle and Jim Bob naturally had to 'travel' and do some inane thing away from home...then Cindy was described as being a work out coach that she and Michelle met at a gym and they 'worked out' together with Cindy coaching and spotting her..now, she's a wedding planner? Oh, yes, she also was a style make over coach that she supervised Michelle's makeover for a birthday of hers.. I think she's really a bored housewife. They have never mentioned if she's married, or was ever married...any kids? She seems to appear on the show just when these people need, yet again, free labor.

Just Guessing said...

Re: Pickle Nickel's comment about how much they paid Cindi to do Joy's wedding. I believe the answer is absolutely nothing. After all she's another one of those friends of the Duggars who show up when there is a need & are more than happy to help out..gratis!

Mrs D said...

Was Spergeon really in his bare feet on the plane? Come to think of it, I've never seen him in shoes or socks he's always barefoot.

Mindy U. said...

Yeah, so many people they have on their show are just as bizarre as they are! She did mention she was married though. She was helping the guys in the wedding party I think at one of their weddings, and she made a comment about who was the handsomest, and then she said her husband was.

Toni said...

I thought Cindy made over the girls room. In that case she would also be an interior decorator.

I love how that whole group gives themselves fancy. Sierra has been wedding disaster planner and she actually put on her Facebook that she is a choclatier. Seriously, she did.

Any 6 year old can dip a strawberry into melted chocolate chips and put on wax paper to dry, but how many of us would claim to be a choclatier?

Christine said...

A combination of shorter courtships/engagements and poorer episode planning has made the lag between real time and episodes ridiculous. Joseph and Kendra are already married and now we're only just starting to see episodes where they begin courting. It's reasonable to be showing episodes of the kids courting when they're engaged -- it's silly to be showing courting episodes when they're already married.

Heart in Florida said...

Another slow moving episode. The whole visit in San Antonio was unnecessary and even more boring. I noticed that Jessa and Jinger had salads instead of pizza. Jinger is afraid to eat, IMO.

Willow said...

I am kind of guessing that TLC paid for the Ben and Jessa's plane trip and I agree they probably didn't want the extra people hanging around in San Antonio. Seems like it would have been a good chance for JD to get some air time though. They never give us shows about what WE want to see or know. Its like we are the fans, who guarantee they have a paycheck, but darn it, they are going to give us what THEY want us to see. They better keep Josh off this show, that's for sure. No doubt Miss Cindy works for cheap, or nothing. It also gives them a chance to show Michelle a little bit more, naturally, conversing here and there with her friend. The one thing I would like to see, though, is the newly married couples' homes.

Tanya T said...

Jessa Blessa looked like she was using the old " blanket Training" trick on the plane.

Tori said...

He had shoes on with his cute little outfit at Joe and Kendras wedding. Although I can't say that I like Jessa one thing I will credit her with is being a good mother, and it must be natural because she didn't inherit it from her own mother! She really dotes on her two little boys, unlike Jill who just isn't a natural, she seems more like Michelle, she likes them when they are babies but can't handle them when they are older.

Aunt Bea said...

I think Jessa will 'fizz out' on the doting on her children as their numbers grow. Right now, with two she seems to have 'those moments', which aren't allowed in her belief system; women are to be sweet and patient all the time and be 'great mothers' with infinite patience. Jessa is having a hard time without Ben around so she can have 'one on one' parenting. That, doesn't usually work in the real world as at least ONE PARENT must work a real job.

Andrea said...

Hi Y'all! Didn't watch but did record on my PVR the episode . . . Honestly, just really curious to know what the numbers look like. Can't imagine they were great. The season really needed to open with either Joseph and Kendra wedding or Jill's recent labour and delivery debacle. I suspect that numbers will be well under a million, but who knows could be wrong.

Andrea said...

Interesting comment from Aunt Bea's about Jessa and the relationships she appears to currently have with her sons. My hope is these Duggar women grow up and decide not to follow in their parents' oddball beliefs system. Jessa seems to be evolving a bit . . . did anyone else see her instagram rambling: "To be honest, I wish he wouldn't have weaned himself early, and would've bf till 2. There, I said it."? bf means breastfed, for those unsure. She wrote this next to a photo of Spurgeon. Maybe I'm wrong . . . maybe she's end up as detached, uninterested and cold as Michelle. Let's see if she pushed out another baby in 12 months time, we'll know she's Mullet 2.0 or if she's her own person creating her own family.

Andrea said...

Tanya T said: "Jessa Blessa looked like she was using the old " blanket Training" trick on the plane." Respectfully disagree. Planes are dirty, she put a blanket down to put her son and his toys down to keep him occupied. I believe blanket training just involves put the infant down with nothing but the blanket and expecting them to stay on it. Also, Jessa and Ben definitely appear to be flying first class . . . how lovely for them! Can anyone else confirm if the Duggar have flown first class in the past?

Mindy U. said...

I think that was just because he couldn't crawl all over the plane. He had to stay where they were seated. Not the same thing as blanket training.

They fooled everyone said...

Re: Andrea's question about any of the Duggars flying first class in the past. We have certainly seen Jill & Derick flying first class in many of their trips between Arkansas & Central America. But we should give them a break, after all they are missionaries doing God's work, not just visiting relatives in another state. I'm sure their supporters want them to be comfortable during those long & frequent trips...enter sarcasm.

Just saying said...

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Spurgeon is a very spoiled little boy. I don't think that Jessa uses the "blanket training" we've heard so much about, but Spurgeon just wails at the top of his lungs when he wants something. He often thrown things too & I don't mean the bottle thrown in the water where Jeremy was trying to show him the duck. He frequently does that around their house too. Hopefully he'll get over this stage. I don't think it has anything to do with the new baby, as he has been that way for sometime. Again, I know it only my opinion.

Stephanie from Virginia said...

I think it's really scary also. They aren't trained mechanics they barely got a middle school education and they are suppose to be aviators? Just watch the Movie Sully (plane landed on the Hudson) he had a carry in the military flying, and a commercial pilot highly educated and trained and even those pilots can't just do a water landing. I wouldn't step foot on a plane they maintained or flew. JFK jr was a"pilot" also, Brown University education, law degree, magazine editor and didn't plan on flying after dark but they were running late. They said for amateur pilots flying in the dark you don't have a horizon or something. I don't understand.

Stephanie from Virginia said...

100% agree Mickey
The big bucks days are over. I wonder how much money is TLC giving to the actual wedding? I guess they are getting their wedding money on the backend hence the cheap wedding. Joys dress was so terrible. She would have been prettier in Grandma and moms dress, it kind looked the same anyway.

Stephanie from Virginia said...

Yes it will get harder for her. But I really liked it when she admitted that having her own children is way different than babysitting her brothers and sisters

Captain Crunch said...

I agree. I think Spurgeon is spoiled and very head-strong. It bothered me that he threw that sippy cup at that duck while Jeremy was holding him. Jinger at first thought it was Jeremy who tossed the cup.

This season premier episode was extremely boring. Kendra and Joe seem like 7th graders 'going steady'.

Mickey2942 said...

1.15 million viewers for the opening of the season...does not bode well for the rest of the season. Even die hard Duggar fans are losing interest.

Any word on where TLC sent Kendra & Joe for their honeymoon since Joy got to go on the major European destinations. I feel maybe these kids were sent to a simple cabin in the woods. Beach & Caribbean are out because of the hurricane that week.

Tori said...

Some photographs of the wedding have neen released. One shows the entire bridal party goofing off and pulling poses. Joy has her hand under her bump and for four months along she is huge, also whats with the glasses, I knew she wore them but seems strange to wear them to a wedding and look so different in official photographs??

Patty said...

I really found Joe asking Kendra to court him extremely awkward. How can they be real with all these family members and camera crew all around them? Kendra seems like a sweet and genuine person but these "rules" they came up with to abide by while courting are just ridiculous! 3 second side hugs, no holding hands, no putting arm around - in other words, no touching at all. I don't see the point in all that. Its not natural. We all know that marriage is more than just sex. However, sex is part of marriage - a huge part. Its so unnatural and cold to avoid physical feelings, then jump right into the intimate act of sex right after the ceremony. I think its so bizarre!! why does this couple feel the need to be even more that way than any of the others? Is this Joe? and she feels she has to go along with him? What sexually healthy male thinks like this? Something wrong here.

Meme said...

Patty: totally agree. To abide by enforced rules would be hard enough on the average male, even one from a Christian home...but. A young man ADDING ONTO the list?!! All aboard the crazy train! Talk about trying to get attention. Yeh, Joe gets that from his ol' man. That hideous, attention-seeking praise video for Michelle was Jim Bob's attention-bid-of-the-week. Even Michelle can't seem to hide her tendency to want to sigh during his repetitive, boring love speeches anymore. N E R D.

Mickey2942 said...

I have no doubt that is one reason why the "Missioncation" in Costa Rica is over, too expensive for filming. Derrick and Jill would have been cut out of filming, and cash.

Heart in Florida said...

We have to remember that this tv show is staged and scripted. I believe that Joe had already (in real life) asked Kendra to court and it was re-enacted for the show. That's how Jeremy and Jinger's went down, remember? There was tape on their marks that they had to stand for the 'surprise' proposal. They already knew.

Aynsley Caldwell said...

I can't speak for Joy but when I was pregnant with my first baby my eyes changed and I couldn't where my contacts everyday like I could before. I reverted to wearing my glasses for a while. After baby arrived my eyes were fine again.

I see it turned out that Jana and her friend Laura were also on the trip to San Antonio to visit the Vuolos, but were edited out by TLC. Surely Jessa didn't need her to help with her boys when Ben, Jinger and Jeremy were also on hand to help? TLC have done this before when Jana was edited out of an RV trip Anna and Josh took, why not just keep her in and tell the truth, the men in the family are useless dolts and can't help take care of their own kids as its womans work. We are constantly hearing that Jana never leaves the house and is tied to the washing machine, here was an opportunity to show her out visiting her sister in another state, but TLC just made her disappear easier than Josh in a sun flare, but their lying ways have caught them out....again!

Nadia said...

Just saw a video of Joe & Kendra, posted after the wedding. Looks like Joe has survived the horrors of his wedding night LOL

Mickey2942 said...

I wonder when Kendra will start puffing out her "Baby Tummy". Maybe Jessa has some skintight shirts with low cleavage to loan her.

Opie said...

TLC staging Laura and Jana out of the San Antonio trip is so cheap. Show them having fun away from Duggarville and pay them. They deserve it.

Sara said...

Re: time lag, it’s even worse in the UK, we’ve just seen Joy enter a courtship... we’re a good 2 seasons behind!

Aunt Bea said...

Editing Jana and Laura out was simply deceptive of TLC for a fictitious storyline about how Jessa and Ben are 'coping' with two small children. Those two have some nerve to voice ANY complaint or difficulty in that matter. Jessa is a stay at home mother, she has a small family owned house and she has an army of sister-helper-babysitters. She needs to shut up about that and now.
I loved when she said that she went to 'work' with Ben????!!! Ben is her father's handy man and lawn care guy. The only way she went to work with him was to accompany him to her parents' house and hang out over there all day. Free meals, ever-present child assistance and her own kitchen stays unused. What a jerk.

Tori said...

Did anyone see the picture from the wedding of some man absailing down onto the stage during the marriage service? Not sure what it was all about but it looked totally ridiculous. I thought people like the Duggars and Caldwells would look apon the marriage service as something sacred in front of God, but here they are turing it into Barnum and Baileys three ring circus! I will be interested to see how the die hards view this, as some nearly had a stroke at the picture of Austin and his groomsmen when his BIL was pretending to kiss him, no doubt it will be brushed off as a lighthearted moment, if they make excuses for Josh this is small potatoes. Personally I couldn't care less what anyone does, but for a family with such strong christian morals this just seems wrong to me and it shows both the immaturity of the couple, and that the Duggars will do anything for the show and a buck.

The video of kendra and joseph congratulating josh and anna on the new baby.
In. The.car. what is UP with the duggars obsession in the cars??
Can't get over it.
All they talked about was God. Is that honestly the ONLY thought they have about the new baby?
Once again, they sound so awkward and forced.
Why cant they make a phone call or visit?
So impersonal and phony.

Willow said...

IMO, they make all the congratulatory videos etc. because they want attention. Just like everything else they do. Why let the new parents or birthday person get ALL the attention. They have to make it a FAMILY event. That is just my opinion but I sincerely believe it.

Grandma Wagner said...

THe man sailing down out of the church ceiling was delivering the wedding rings. I immediately thought "Las Vegas" gimmick. Aren't the Duggar weddings supposed to be a serious religious commitment ceremony? Just goes to show how TLC is scripting the show to try to perk up the boring couple's wedding. Also, no honeymoon for them after Joy spent a month traveling the Europe? What's up with that? Was the honeymoon making oatmeal cookies in the minimansion kitchen with Kendra showing she already has that bug eyed look at my "wonderful husband" stare as if everything Joe says is straight from heaven. I wonder if Joe lifted the 3 second hug rule. It' probably 3 seconds for something else now and Kendra knows no different!!!

Dianna said...

Poor Joe. He probably had the fear put into him watching what happened to his big brother but not understanding how a side hug (touching) doesn't necessarily get one in trouble the way Josh's touching did.

I doubt Jim Bob was able to explain the difference as he expects Michelle make him
a sandwich If she touches him when she passes him the salt.
