Tuesday, September 27, 9:30 PM, Duggars Over the Edge

Watch as the large family visits one of the largest waterfalls in North America -- Niagara Falls. But with Duggars' proneness to motion sickness ever present, will they enjoy their maiden voyage or will they rock the boat with seasickness?

Hopefully it won't be another vomit-fest seen in another reality show. I'm going to pass this one for sure.

Looks like fun in the commercial. I hope Jinger didn't chicken out and enjoyed the rapids.

I hope they kept poor, pregnant Anna OUT of the rapids! But I can't get Josh sadistically forcing Anna into that ferris wheel holding her baby hostage.

Oh wait, that's "Duggar Humor." Never mind.

I meant to say FORGET. I really should lay off the internets after midnight.

Anyway, it would be nice to see Michelle do something FUN for a change. We've seen her rollerskate (quite well) and go down a hill in that ZORB (where were the barf bags for that? I have motion sickness and would have lost it after doing that). Let her steer while Jim Bob screams like a girl.

I can dream...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

It would also be nice to see Michelle lose that hillbilly hair and clothing that had some semblance of style and fit.

Time for Michelle Duggar to come into this century, at least in appearance. (Mentally, she's hopeless on that one.)

Jim Bob would never allow her to lose the mullet or the perm. Or the green tops for that matter. What she wants is immaterial.

As we've seen over the years, it's all JimBob, all the time. For this episode, I would have paid Sean well to see JimBob pontificate about the beauty of the Falls, then go over them in a barrel. THAT would beat any rehash of the first Niagara Falls episode that we'll be subjected to next week.

Seriously? said...

I agree with envee - I'm only interested in seeing Jim Bob if he is in a barrel, about to head over Niagara Falls.

Also agree that it's all about HIM. At all times. Such is patriarchy in Duggar World, and it is that, more than anything else, that I so strongly object to. Well, ok, AND their failure to educate their children with any meaningful curriculum & social interaction with those outside their small-minded frame of reference. Ok, well, one more reasons I am not a Duggar fan: their unwillingness to respect the beliefs of others as evidenced by trying to force THEIR ideologies on everyone via increased legislation. Last time I checked, more legislation = more govt, which is another leap in Duggar logic.

All in all, I found the Duggars anything BUT 'encouraging'. I find it depressing to think of America as THIS ignorant and THIS smug about their concept of morality.

But, hey, as soon as Jim Bob allows the Duggar women to cut and UNperm their hair OR as soon as the camera's showing him getting into a barrel at the falls, call me and I promise to tune right in to Duggar World. Til then, not so much.

Watch the new clip up from Niagra Falls on the TLC website. Jackson is most seriously nearly washed away. I had to watch it several times, in disbelief, that he was left there (all the sister moms left too) by himself, again (like the airport wasn't enough).

It's horrifying how stupid these people are.

AMEN on that one.

The Duh!ggars blather on and on about how precious their 19 blessing are to them, yet over and over again they fail to adequately protect their kids from the REAL (not imagined in their small mindedness) dangers in life.

You'd think that parents who risk taking Josie and Michael on a 25 day global excurions MIGHT want to RISK allowing their grown daughters to leave the nest to find their own life, instead of hanging around to mid life (or beyond?), being housekeepers, cooks, and nannies for their parents.

Seriously though, this episode made me want to go back to Niagara Falls again. The Duggers certainly had a good time.

I wish they would show the back of Michelle's head so we can see if that's really a dead poodle on top, or just some odd sort of hair style.

After I saw that, putting it together with his "adventure" at Newark airport, I think the kid is trying to escape! He just hasn't quite figured out the logistics yet. LOL.

Seriously? I couldn't believe they let Josie ride on the choppy waters of the ferry boat. And where were the seasick bands that are mentioned any time the Duggars do anything water or air-related? Poor wannabe escapee Jackson looked like he was going to lose his lunch at any moment in one shot.

The Duggar's are certainly pulling the wool over our eyes with this one.

They are already so hard up for episode "ideas", you mean to tell me that they didn't film the FIVE DAY road-trip to Niagara Falls? It takes far, far more than 20 hours to get to Niagara Falls from NW Arkansas, especially with that many children. It would take 2 adults 2 days each way, unless you drove straight through without stopping for food, restroom breaks, SLEEP.

All we see is the older girls packing, and then boom - they are at the Falls. I'm sorry, but there is no way they drove there. I don't buy it. They did hotel/bus shots, but I am willing to bet they actually flew in.

If they had really driven that route, it would have been made into a "special" of sorts, as it would have given them at least an hour of TV segments.

And what is it with all the traveling and clear lack of schooling? I have seen people comment on this before - but now it is getting REALLY ridiculous. A week-long trip, and now a 25-day trip overseas...

During this episode, they show Michelle (yet again) holding Josie like a "prize" that she just won. It's sickening how she holds her that way, NOT cradled close to her body, but face-out (to the cameras), holding her between the legs. I literally cringe. Add in the HUGE flowers on her head, and I am literally embarrassed for them both.

I cannot and will not, ever understand the Mom's who strap flowers and bows to their child's heads, that are the SIZE of the child's head. Do they think this looks cute or stylish?

Trotting around Niagara Falls with a preemie, where it's VERY, VERY wet and windy? I am just dumbfounded. What happened to this "tiny, precious" addition and the 2-year rule?

Just goes to show that the Duggars do not walk the talk......

And off topic - but Jessa is beginning to look exactly like Jill. It's too bad her outgoing and fun personality is already being modified to "fit" the Duggar's expectations. And Jana misses the speed-boat at the Falls to care for Josie (oh, it's only a once-in-a-lifetime experience, who cares).

Where was Michelle? She was not on the jet-boat, so why wasn't she taking of her tiny, precious addition? Seems like Josie may have already been officially passed off to a sister Mom already....what a shame.

Baby #20 can't be far away.

Hey guys - I watched last night and here is what I saw regarding the jet boat ride: Michelle, Jessa and Jana stayed behind on the docks to fish with the smaller ones - it looked like at least 1 or 2 boys - not sure about that, but for sure the little girls. Jana had Josie while Michelle was actually with the ones fishing. Jessa was there and seemed not too happy about it, but she and Jana both said something to the effect of babysitting being a "good excuse" - as if they didn't want to go. We can only guess about whether that was true. I am sure someone had to be delegated to help Michelle, so there you are. Also -- I didn't see Anna there with Michelle and the others and no one stated - that I heard - where Anna was. I was only hoping I didn't see her actually on the boat and I didn't. Did anyone else see Anna on the boat? Josie was not on the jet boat, she must have been on another boat.

I just kept thinking it did not looke like a safe place (Niagara Falls in general) for the wee folks. It did look like fun though and I have always wanted to go there.

* I meant to say that JOY ANNA is beginning to look like Jill. Not "Jessa beginning to look like Jill". Sorry about that. All these "j" names...ugh!

Hi Michelle, I agree with you on several points. I do however want to point out that according to google maps the distance between North West Arkansas and Niagara Falls, USA is 19 hours. It's entirely possible that the group did drive straight as two adults could switch off driving. One driving while the other slept and vice versa. Also, they would have all the food / drinks and washroom facilities on the bus so there would be no need to stop. I initially had the same thought as you, until I investigated with google.

Josie was definitely on the ferry, in her own pint sized little poncho. Must confess that, although the Duggars show no common sense whatsoever, that they would subject any of the youngest children, ESPECIALLY a premie, to this experience. I am sure that Jenny, Jordyn, etc. were cold and uncomfortable. Why they took Josie too? They really are about the most stupid and clueless people, jeopordizing the lives of their precious children.

===================================

Even more disingenuous, they didn't "just" go to the Falls. They promptly headed to New York City for their Today Show appearance and commenced their book tour that evening. They got home 3 days before Michael was born.

I guess Sean et al. thought that spacing out the first Niagara Falls episode and this one would remember fact that this was not a separate trip, but merely a paid pitstop on their way to the book tour.

I meant to say "NO one would remember" that they immediately went to NYC. My keyboard is going bonkers on me! I teach English for crying out loud (not Duggarese). :)

You are right Delta 88, Josie was on the ferry - a much tamer ride than the jet boat. She was not on the jet boat and yes, I agree with you, even the ferry seemed a bit much for the youngest ones, especially Josie.

The Niagara trip looked like a lot of fun.It sermed like the Duggars stayed within guidelines in regards to who could participate in certain parts of the Falls tour although I'm sure it was more park officials than the Duggars since we know they don't have the best judgment in regards to safety percautions.I was happy to see no "little ones" on speed boats and no 9 month pregnant Anna on the wet stairs walking. It did bother me to see Jana and Jessa babysitting. It is bad enough that these two adult women have no say in where they go,the least they could have gotten to do was enjoy Niagara Falls. It is sad to see the vacant expressions on their faces all the while claiming to have volunteered to help.It bothers me how the Duggars always say "our children love to help or work,etc.".Its not as if they would have a choice.

It is scary that they're suddenly going on all these trips with Josie in tow, and she's not even 2 years old! I too was pretty surprised that they were allowing her to be involved in all that they did at the Falls...and, now knowing they took her out of the country and all over the place for a month for yet more Duggar adventures on film? I just don't see how they could possibly risk it. No matter how healthy she seems, even adults end up dealing with health issues when travelling abroad, just because different countries and different parts of the world have things our bodies aren't accustomed to in the U.S.

I wonder what they would say if something happened as a result of the trip, how could they explain sacrificing Josie's health for the sake of entertainment?..let's hope we don't have to find out.

something DID happen as a result of that trip. Josie, Jill and Michelle had to stay behind in Israel several days because Josie was sick and couldn't fly home. When she did fly home, she was accompanied by an Israeli doctor. This was supposedly a cold. How many doctors do you know accompany a patient home to another country for a cold?

The Maid of the Mist is a very tame tour boat, it does get wet, but in the summer Niagara Falls is very warm. And I bet the wet mist felt good. I know it did when we did it in July a couple years ago. I took my then 4 yr on it and he loved it. And still remembers it. (I would have taken the 1 yr, but Grandma offered to watch him, and it saved me $$$$)
Now the Jet Boats are lots of fun, but are restricted to a certain age and no pregnant ladies. (We did those too.) Also that aren't that wild either, when compared to actual white water rafting. I would compare them to a middle of the road roller coaster. (But they are hyped up quite a bit.) So I am not surprised that a couple of the older Duggar Girls didn't go. It might truly could have been scared, not just required to babysit. (Jana and Jessa have commented in the past they don't like the daring stuff.)

Also, how many people do you know who could afford to: transport their entire family across the globe PLUS pay to have an Israeli dr accompany them home?

The Duggars have become accustomed to those TLC $$$$$$$$$. Just like the Gosselins did. "Reality" tv & those who chose to 'star' in it is so predictable...

I think I will stop watching this travesty! I remember poor little Josie in the N.I.C.U, fighting for her life, with all those tubes attached to her little body. What a traumatic way to enter this world and exist like that for so many months.

Michelle and Jim Bob left their daughters to look after their other "blessings" to attend to Josie. I am inclined to think that was all for show. Also, Michelle would rather stay by herself with one than look after all the other little ones.

One would think the parents would have learned from the past experiences with Josie. She has to be handled with extra care. To take her on an International flight at this stage of the game is, to me, child endangerment. There was so much time and care given to save this precious child and,I think, they are being careless with her health.

Michelle and Jim Bob may have been good parents a long time and about 10 less children ago. Now, it is all for show and the money. Of course, there will be a simple explanation and it will be brushed off. Michelle would be so pleased to have another child. What for? "Mother of the year indeed"
