What is a bible bee? Is it like a spelling be where if you say a bible verse wrong, you're out? I don't get it.

biblebee.org explains it all. David gave out the address several times in the video.

How does a new employee have time off from "work" to attend a Bee of any sort? Or is attending this event part of his "job"? JMHO.

Anna mentions at the beginning of the video that they are there with FRC and IBLP so I'm guessing their jobs (Gothard for David and FRC for Josh) are paying for this...
If my memory is correct I think David and Priscilla went to this last year and talked about it on their website.

Yes, you can tell those are little Duggars. Running wild , touching everything while mom grins like a moron and dad tries to look important. Drives me nuts.

I was thinking the same thing. If my kids had disappeared around a corner, I would have been after them in a flash. Maybe it's different if there are camera crews around to make sure no one snatches your child. But it could happen in an instant, even in a crowd. They need to be more careful. I was much more security and safety conscious with my kids.

What's weird is both Josh and David are filming the same thing. Let's see, Anne says: "Let's record a video of us talking about the event, Paul you film it and post it to your youtube channel." But then Josh decides one copy isn't enough, he is going to film it as well? David filming Josh, filming Anne and Priscilla. These people are idiots. No wait, I'm the bigger idiot for having watched it.

I checked our the Bible Bee web site. I looked at contestants from Arkansas, and there's someone from Springdale ranked 7th in the state in the Junior Division...a Duggar? High scores oral, low score written.

Fundies have an extremely low tolerance for fun. They are so worried that they will do something sinful that an event like the Bible Bee is a super good time to them.

at 2:38 of the video, why does Josh have the Visa logo on his phone/recording device? I certainly hope he is not sponsored or endorsed by a huge company like Visa! Anyone have any ideas?

It looks like there might be a pocket on the back of Josh's device, with a Visa card in it.Not sure though.

How encouraging! What a blessing that families take time to learn the Scriptures.

I wonder how those Bible Bee kids (and the Duggars/Bates) would do in Speilling Bees, Math and Science Competitions, Speech and Debate contest. That would be encouraging to me.

I doubt they would get past round one in any kind of a "bee" in real education, even if they competed below their age level. I would pay to see them try though!

During this video both McKenzie and Michael take off and run up the stairs and no one seemed to notice!

In addition to the blessings they get from the bee,it appears they also get to do a lot of fellowshipping. How enouraging.

I had four children and they never ran off in public and acted up like the Duggar children do. Tell me again how Michelle is mother of the year?

sandi said...

The places that give Michelle 'Mother of the Year' title are the ones that have a personal interest invested it in,it seems...like Vision Forum. That just means it netted them more attention, and that Michelle would come and accept the awad, and give a speech.iow-exposrue for them both.how convenient.jmo.

Regarding the kids running off and Michelle being mother of the year, I recently saw the Bates episode about training their children, and whilst I don't agree with likening raising children with raising horses, at least the children knew how to behave and it was the parents who were doing the teaching.....

It's a shame when "mother of the year" is more "most likely to produce sales and spread the word" than actually about "God's Blessings"

In all the years of watching the show,I have only seen Jim Bob do one thing I agreed with, and that was when Jordyn fell off the wooden horse at the Bates and she started crying. He picked her up,put her back on and said "you know what ppl do when they fall off a horse? They get right back on again".I had to give him one for unintentionally empowering a female. :)

A BIBLE bee???!! Teaching children that ethics can be measured by one's ability to mindlessly accept and spew simplistic quotes and concepts is testament (pardon the pun) to this group's intellectual and spiritual shallowness.

I, for one, don't have an issue with a Bible bee...aka, kids memorizing Bible verses. There are certainly worse things kids could be doing! Of course, the TRUE goal would be for the children, as they grow, to reflect upon those versus individually, work through areas of confusion or discomfort through analysis, prayer, and, yes, even questioning, and continue their thirst for knowledge as they grow in their faith. It's an individual process, and opening and becoming familiar with what the Bible says is a good first step!

I hope they are attaching some meaning to the verses.I learned many verses when I was in Prims growing up,but I didn't understand what they all meant.Like the verse about firmament.I had no idea what that was.
I hope they teach meaning, instead of just memorizing.

How is the Duggar show even on the air? Doesn't TLC stand for The Learning Channel? What do we learn from these greedy, smug publicity whores who prance around on TLC's dime and sneer at the rest of us for being immodest and ungodly?

Anonymous said...

Miz Kizzle is right, they should change TLC to NLC-no learning channel. I don't understand how shorts are immodest, but giving birth in front of a camera crew is modest???
Sounds illogical to me.
