Duggar Weight Loss Challenge

Jim Bob vs Josh

Jim Bob Duggar, 47, and his oldest son Josh, 25, of TLC's 19 Kids & Counting airing on Tuesday nights at 9, are in a fierce weight-loss challenge with each other.

He and Josh discussed a weight challenge and both began eating healthier and working out. Jim Bob's third son, Joseph, 18, initially set up a workout plan for the pair. To make the contest more interesting, they've agreed that on April 1 whoever has lost the most weight will be waited on – think breakfast in bed – by the other. Right now, Jim Bob says he's about 199 lbs.

I wondered why is was on a diet. I think the prize is silly.

I thought Josh looked thinner on Today

Oh come on...Jim Bob doesn't need to lose weight, and the real prize is another paycheck for another episode, since they seem to be running out of ideas for a show anymore.admit it.

Great...reward weight loss with food! Makes a lot of sense...Duggar Sense.

Josh did look thinner on Today, he is like me and unfortunately gains in his face.

They've done diet stuff before...Weight Watchers mtg and JB lifting some puny weights in the living room, but at least a contest is something new. Stretching but new. Notice the synopsis didn't say how much Josh weighs!

I hope they use % of weight lost not actual weight lost. Josh needs to lose about double what JB needs to lose.

Who wants to bet that the loser's wife has to get up early and do all the cooking?

I really have no sympathy. Celebrating the weight loss, fans applauding how great Josh is doing, etc. These people have plenty of cash rolling in, parading around like celebrities-millions watched Josh put on the weight acting like a total glutton, blowing hundreds on fast food runs and "date nights". I mean, taking pics of thousand plus calorie meals and posting them pridefully for all to see? Now all of a sudden that Josh realized how supersized he was, we should be saying "good for you" and praising his apple and lemon water?

Jim Bob is just as bad. He's joked numerous times about eating too much and snacking on peanut butter cups, laughed, then ate more. It's not like he has some major issue and overcoming the odds on a courageous journey to weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. I also thought it was majorly rude of him to talk about Michelle's back pain attributed to the fact she put on weight and how her doctor advised her to shed some pounds. As a woman, how embarrassing-esp. after how many times she's been pregnant! That should have been something coming only from Michelle's mouth, not to mention it had NOTHING to do with Josh & Jim Bob's weight gain.

Or maybe his sisters will be the ones making breakfast.

I think so,too Tulip. The Duggars have paraded an excess of food around for so long--like a huge stack of pizzas for a night of fireworks,etc...it would be nice to see them FAST for a change, and donate some food to a shelter or crisis center,to help a needy family have just SOME of what they have.JMO,and it doesn't have to be all about weight loss.

I do think the must of prize will fall on sisters or wife's.

I mean Josh seems to waited on a lot at home. We see how he was eating away when Anna was feeding the kids.

That doesn't seem like much of a prize since the Duggar men are already waited on.
