Should have happened two months ago but better late than never. Gravy train derailed.

This is a good thing! I know the fans will be disappointed , but the Duggar kids will have the opportunity (hopefully) to have a normal life. I wish them the best of luck! Also I read that TLC will end the series with a 1 hr special about abuse with Jill and Jessa participating. For women who feel their parents handled the situation and they are not victims, I think this is very telling of their mindset and how they truly feel about the abuse.

Lee said...

I've been watching from the beginning and have enjoyed some of their antics over the years. As disgusted as I am with this whole scandal, part of me will miss continuing to see these kids grow up, marry and have families of their own.

unfortunately i see most of the family members still finding their way into other tv projects, tlc's just done w/'19kac' as a brand because they couldn't find a way to unstain the name, but i'm sure they'll still have duggars on tlc before too long...

Sounds like people are already hoping that the UP network (which airs the Bates show) will pick them up. We'll see.

But, in the Duggars's statement, they're working on a documentary with TLC.

Bobbi said...

Wow this is fantastic news! I am ecstatic! Later this evening, I will celebrate this great news with a glass of sparkling wine. BTW often, I contact the UP network via email & firmly & clearly advise that it will not be wise decision if they choose to create a reality program about the Duggars. I wrote that many people who disdain the Duggars & the Gothsrd Cult they live in & promote will do our best to contact the media to expose the Duggars as we did with TLC & the Gothard Cult. I wrote to promote an obvious Cult to viewers is a dangerous decision & not a smart or wise plan.

Kate plus 8 came back-so will the Duggars. Give it a few years...

Hopefully the 1 hour special that they are doing regarding sexual abuse will be better and more serious than the Fox News interview. They have the opportunity to help other victims not feel alone and not feel like since the Duggar girls think that it's not a big deal that they shouldn't tell someone.

Wow, just WOW! Folks, I hoped that TLC would do this. Like so many of you, I messaged my heart out to TLC and others that were wisely listed here by you awesome people.
I am really surprised that they went ahead and did this. I was beginning to fear that greed would win (and it might have anyway...I have no delusions that TLC did this out of some sense of ethics, I just think that we were louder and they realized they'd really be losing revenue if they kept them on...but I'll take it!)
Thank you, Sharla. You've worked so hard and it seems like you have a lot on your plate personally right now, so I am very grateful to you for providing this place.
I don't know what your plans are now, but I hope this site remains.
You all are awesome people.

Long time lurker, first time poster (seemed appropriate). In between our celebrating, we should all take a moment to thank Sharla for providing a forum for us all to share our bemusement and disgust at TLC's one-time prize cash cow. On a related note, I look forward to seeing the press release from TLC indicating that they have set up a fund to provide for the mental health expenses of the Duggars and their other exploited child stars. I'm sure this bombshell has convinced them of their moral obligation to do this, right?

Right?

RE:Rudy Tecat's comment about a documentary. At least from what I have read, it appears that there will be a documentary focusing on sexual abuse & molestation. It mentioned that Jill & Jessa(of course) will be among a group of other young women, who have suffered some form of abuse. Odd isn't it that they have no memory of this happening to them, but yet they are going to participate in a documentary about molestation. Jill will talk at length about what she doesn't remember!

Elspeth said...

Once again, there are NO residuals paid by TLC. Reality shows seldom if ever pay residuals. That is for guild members. Who knows if anyone will want the Duggars for speaking engagements after this. Jim Bob can go back to his real estate business and make money managing rental property and flipping bank repo houses.

Ruby said...

I am so glad for the Duggar children that the show is over. Maybe they can experience some privacy and a bit of normalcy. Maybe they will even be able to settle down and get some homeschooling done. It seems like that has taken a seat at the back of the bus. Unfortunately, there is still all kinds of social media for the Duggars to spread their cult message and plenty of ways to get the attention of thousands of people. The good thing is that their dysfunction and ridiculousness and false teaching won't be fueled by TLC money. Adios Duggars! It's been real!

Katie's Mom said...

Bobbi, let me know what time you will be having your glass of sparkling wine, so I can toast you. I really appreciate all you have done. Thanks for continuing on & contacting UP channel. Excellent idea! To Sharla, a very sincere thanks too, as we all realize you are facing difficult issues in your personal life. I hope nobody is offended if I didn't mention them by name. So many worked so hard for this day. Let's just hope it's over & done with for good.
Boy I wouldn't want to be anywhere around Jim Bob. I'll bet he sneaks off & has a few drinks!

Stella said...

I would like UP Network would keep the BATES far away from all this especially since Bringing up Bates is the anchor for the network now. It could cause from stiff with the families since they are closely linked. I don't put it pass Mr. Bates if he knows what is at stake and even though they are a loyalty. He is and will look out for this family at the end of the day. Time will tell yet business wise it won't be a wise move for UP Network just starting to lose any possible sponsors to the Duggars. Just not a smart business move for the Bates or UP. JMO

First of all I want to thank Sharla for taking time out of her schedule to monitor this forum. I also hope the forum continues.

I am glad the Duggars got cancelled. I do have a problem with them being part of the documentary. Jim Bob is supposed to be working with TLC on it supposedly. I think they are going to minimize the abuse like before. What message will that give to young people who are going through sexual abuse or have been through it? That really bugs me. I agree they need to do a documentary but without the Duggars.

I have been watching this show since 14 kids. I am sort of going to miss watching them grow up especially the littles. The show was getting boring though and Duggars have become entitled and are not who they said they were in the beginning. I think it is good for them to be back in the real world instead of getting everything handed to them.

Annie said...

Katie's Mom: the documentary will be pointless in my opinion unless the Duggar girls actually get real help or at the very least the show is facilitated by someone real. It isn't uncommon for victims to NOT remember sexual abuse. I was brutally abused for years (to be more accurate-I have been raped more times than I can count) and only remember a bit of it. I was able to pull out full memories with the help of a qualified psychiatrist that specialized in abuse and the disorders that results from it. there were residual physical effects and things that affected me like smells and sounds that I remembered and didn't like. Married life was affected as well, and I couldn't figure out why until I got help. Now, I could speak at length about what I "couldn't remember" but unless these girls get help, they really won't be able to. That is why Joshie makes me sick. these girls may never be the same.

Thank you Sharla, for this blog. You have done an amazing job keeping it updated, letting us vent but keeping it civil and INTELLIGENT! This blog has a very easy-to-read format too. I live in the northeast, and even here where it is very liberal politically, morally and otherwise, people are genuinely shocked and disgusted at the Duggars and their crazy lifestyle. As my husband has said many times: the telltale signs of a cult are 1) love of money 2) sexual perversion. End of story.

Woohooo TCL FINALLY! Now what the hell is TLC thinking about doing a documentary on Molestation with the Duggars....they will spin it how?..like the way the interviews went last month with Jessa and Jill. Since the Duggars "live to a higher standard of living" than the rest of us*ha*...i would think they would want to tell the TRUTH...isn't that what God would want? I think Ole Joshy should be sittin' with boob and meechelle in the hottt seat...telling the truth, somehow i think they think they are above God...as they have Jimboob as their lord and master. I hope we get to hear the BabySitters take on all this...but old boob will probably pay her off. And of course the Molested Sisters will say what ever lord and master tells them to say.

No child under the age of 18 has the obligation to let his/her life be a "show" for strangers to watch as entertainment. Parents, however, do have the obligation not to allow it to happen.

Sadly, there are no lessons learned here by the Duggars and they will go on as before, plastering themselves and their babies all over social media. JB had ten years of being followed by cameras everywhere and it will take more than the cancellation of his show to take him down a peg or two. Still worth a try, though. I'm not giving up.

TLC likes to play games. "Jon & Kate Plus 8" got cancelled, too...and then a new show called "Kate Plus 8" started. And then was cancelled. And now has returned twice for specials/mini-seasons.

"19 Kids and Counting" may be ending, but I foresee "Dillard Dynasty" and "Jessa and Ben Plus 10" in the near future, probably followed by "Four Little Duggars" which will focus on the 4 youngest girls, and "Duggar Advntures" focusing on the 5 boys in the middle. Josiah will get a courting and wedding special, and the other adult Duggars will be included in the other shows, except for Josh & Anna. Even their kids will probably still be filmed, though.

My predictions only!

Thank you Sharla for keeping this blog going. I am relieved that TLC finally had the guts to do the right thing and cancel this show. I also feel that the documentary re sexual abuse is a good idea - but without the Duggars. It really bothers me how the girls have been brainwashed and how the family has tried to minimize it. They keep referencing God - which also bothers me how they think they are absolved of these wrong doings. Wouldn't surprise me if there was more sick things happening behind closed doors. It wouldn't surprise me if Josh wasn't the only one.

Considering this is TLC, we have to realize any and every decision made is primarily about increasing the TLC profit margin.

Therefore, I'm wary that this impending 'documentary' is merely a ploy to placate both the Duggar Lovers as well as the Duggar Doubters.

Let's hope this planned 'documentary' is not just a hoped for springboard for some of the Duggars to continue to pitch their misguided, ignorant world- and life-view. I do NOT want any further bleating from the Duggar sisters about how the real bottom line in the whole sordid Tale of Duggar is CHRISTIAN love and forgiveness. AS IF the CHRISTIANS have the corner on the love and forgiveness markets.

Color me doubtful still when it comes to the Duggars (&, of course, those bringers of the likes of such television trash as "Honey Boo Boo"' the Gosselins, & "Toddlers & Tiaras", TLC).

Beth Anne said...

RE: I also feel that the documentary re sexual abuse is a good idea - but without the Duggars.

I agree! There is a weird disconnect between a serious documentary and likely hand-wringing and tears over such a serious, horrible topic that will occur and the "Oh, we are asleep and didn't even know!" and "We forgave Josh, so leave him and us alone!" responses from the sister victims. It just seems off, but, then again, so does everything about this family.

Sharla, I second and third and fourth what others have already said...you have done a fantastic job with this forum. I was a former Duggar fan, but then all those "off" things keep nagging at my brain, and I am so thankful I found this blog and realized I wasn't alone :)

Katie's Mom said...

RE: Annies comments about my post. I agree with your comments.Perhaps my comments about Jill & Jessa taking part in a documentary didn't explain, that I too, felt it would be worthless to have Jill & Jessa speaking in a documentary, which is supposed to be based on truth. I am so very sorry for the hell you had to endure. The difference is that you did have a least an inkling of something wrong, something deep down that told you something wasn't right. Sometimes all it takes is to see a show, such as the ones Oprah often did, to make you feel little uneasy. You're not quite sure why people who are addressing abuse & molestation makes you feel uneasy & it is bothering you so much. Thank God,you were able to see a qualified psychiatrist. I understand; sights ,sounds, smells, are powerful & can trigger memories that you hadn't been able to recall. This is why I wrote that Jessa & Jill should not be involved in any documentary. Any talk of "qualified counselors," working with Jill & Jessa is an outright lie. The Duggars references to counseling are so vague. Jim Bob says one thing, Michele says something altogether different. I don't think anyone believes them. Don't forget the Duggars feel the elders of the church,a deacon, a pastor, or some cop they have a personal relationship with, even just any person they meet on the street, who is like minded & believes the way they do, could be considered a qualified to counselor these young women. For God's sake, Jim Bob could do the counseling, as he has his own church, & of course he's the head of the home..

Dee said...

Re: the documentary on molestation which will reportedly include the Duggars. For what it's worth, here's my take on it: I think TLC is feeling pressure to do some image bolstering. I think they're also trying to appear 'thoughtful' of their longtime colleagues, the Duggars. There might even be some sort of legal issue going on.
Perhaps the Duggars agreed to go 'quietly' (although I'll believe that when I see it) if they were included in the molestation program.
I don't see Darkness to Light or RAINN putting up with some fluff piece (ala Fox News) on this very serious subject. I would think they would want to put forth honest and serious information.
This leaves the Duggars with a choice; they can either cop (or at least give lip service) to the fact that this IS serious and that immediate, legitimate help is necessary for the victims, as well as the perpetrator, if they are to have any hope of long term healing, OR they can make their usual claims: "The girls don't remember any of it", "God and the rest of us forgave them so it's not a big deal", etc.
Imagine if they did the latter in a program that is (hopefully) earnest about the issue of molestation, its effects, and repurcussions?
They would, once again, come off looking like absolutely delusional idiots.
It would simply underscore why it was necessary to cancel their show.
The ball is in their court. It will be intersting to see how they play it.

Also, I wonder if now that the dye has been cast as far as their show goes, we will begin to hear even more secrets come out.
It will be interesting to see if In Touch keeps on them or if perhaps that is all tied up in this 'Just Go Away' deal. We'll see....

Bobbi - enjoy your Duggars Are Done celebration. Raising a toast to you. Well done.

Also, if TLC is going to do a documentary with Jill and Jessa, will Jill have to return from her long-term mission work to participate? And will Jill and Jessa have any interaction with professional psychologists/psychiatrists that will probably be part of the documentary because I would love to hear theirs views on how the Duggar family handled the "Josh problem."

Hi Everyone,

Long time reader and first time poster from the land down under. I have really enjoyed this blog - I found the Duggars Train wreck television and their views on many items disturbing and holier than thou.

Whilst TLC has cancelled "19 paychecks and counting" it does concern me about follow up documentaries, also "Duggar Studio's" Youtube and whether they net any income from that, their Facebook pages and Instagram accounts. 5 of those children have not known a life away from a camera crew, it is time they were out of the limelight.

The other thing is do the Duggars still have their close relationship with "The Today Show" as another forum to make their announcements or "People" Magazine for the exclusive family scoops.

Whilst its a victory in TLC cancelling the show, like a bad smell JB will ensure they will turn up somewhere to give their religion a platform and outbirth all of the other heathens.

Just wanted to take the time to thank Sharla and all the other regular posters for your passion and for this blog. I still do not believe the fight is over here and I would like to see an indepth investigation into Gothard principles.

Have a great weekend everyone! Bobbi enjoy the sparking wine, I will have some tonight to celebrate on Sydney time.

Glad the plug has been (finally) pulled; at least I this incarnation. I'm sure we have not heard the last from that fool Jim Bob. Hopefully, with the two groups involved with the documentary, it will be thoughtful and accurate in regards to the seriousness of the subject. I don't hate the Duggars nor wish them Ill. Their 15 minutes of hypocritical fame are up and absolutely, it is past time for them to go. I know many fine, upstanding Christians and the Duggar/Gothard brand of Christianity is disrespectful and dangerous.

Incredulous said...

JimBob cannot distinguish a lie from a truth. Everything goes through his filter, his own interpretation of the word of God spoken directly to him. I'm sure his cell phone has God on speed dial. If God doesn't pick up, there's always Bill G. or the ATI right hand man, Gil B.

JB has taught his wife and his children well as some of them can't tell the different between lies and truths either. If it's a lie, but has a grain of truth in it, then it passes for truth. These kinds of "truths" include assuring viewers that they got help for the girls from a "qualifed" counselor; Josh only molested the girls for "a few seconds" (how does JB know that? Was he in the room each time?) And Jill can't reveal their mission destination because of "safety" concerns even though she's been to El Salvador multiple times without the same "safety" concerns.

Yep, nineteen lies and counting. Finally caught up with them.

Andrea said...

gigi: have to disagree with "I'm sure they have tons of money stashed and are not going to miss the income from the show. Hopefully poor Jana got enough to move on." We have no idea if the adult children appearing on the show received any money. I suspect Jim Bob shrewdly ensured all money from the show was deposited into his bank account and assured TLC that funds would be fairly distributed to his children. He then likely had his children sign legal documents acknowledging that they were ok with this arrangement and that all their money was being held by their dad. The only exception to this arrangement was likely Josh, because he's been married and out from under Jim Bob thumb for so long. It's craziness, the children likely had no protection. I wonder if filming and the TV show is also part of the Department of Family Services investigation into the Duggars. I also wonder if something more is going to be coming to light and TLC finally pulled the plug because more charges are going to be laid against the Duggars?

I am pleased that TLC finally cancelled "19 Kids and Counting". Many feel that the children will have more privacy. And it's a good thing. But there is a part of me that is really concerned about them. Is CPS still investigating the family? Are the children safe? JimBob has a temper and is a bully. I sincerely worry about their well-being. I worry about Josie's health too.

I starting watching the Duggars when they had documentaries. We are a Christian homeschooling family too. PLEASE do not think all homeschooling families are like the Duggars! As a Christian, I do not understand how other Christians blindly defend Josh, JB and Michelle just because they are Christians.

I want to thank Sharla for this blog too. It is a place to vent. I hope that we can still discuss this situation. I have a feeling that there is more to this story.

I have a feeling, that one Duggar is happy that it's over, and that's Jana. She never seemed like she wanted to be on camera, but smiled anyway and toed the line. She is my favorite out of the whole family, because she's the little momma there, and she's raised the children as if they were her own. The only thing about this show that I will miss is watching the kids. I have a feeling that Jill, Derrick, Jessa and Ben will be back around, with guest spots from the other kids.

And thank you Sharla for running a great blog.

So glad the show is cancelled, at least for awhile. We did good, I think, writing all of our emails to the powers that be, etc. I hope we helped in some way. I join you all in toasting our victory and thanking Sharla for hosting us all these many years. I hope we can continue as I would miss you all.

I am so distressed about the documentary. I don't like that Jim Bob has to have anything at all to do with it. He just cannot let his adult children be adults. I have to stop on that subject as I am going crazy thinking about it. I really think JB insisted on inserting himself into this. Who else would want him there?. It had to be part of some kind of deal. I wouldn't be surprised to see him actually on the documentary, participating in the discussion. If he is, I just don't think I can stomach it. JB being behind the scenes and probably sitting backstage so the girls can't say anything, just makes my blood boil. What is the point, really.

I wanted to comment further, but I just have to stop for now and calm myself down. I will try again later. I just love and appreciate you all so much and enjoy all of you who comment here.

Wow, there must be more dirt under the rug regarding the Duggars still yet to come, or more that they are hoping won't surface for TLC to have cancelled that money making show...that's my opinion at this point. I, too, don't want to see the Duggars have a part at all in this sexual abuse documentary....they have already had their say ...Jessa and Jill spoke on the subject...what more can they add to minimize this? I believe that's all this family would do...to give it any more gravity would be burying Josh even more in peoples' minds; something that would be counter-productive for this family who sees themselves not as individuals, but as a whole unit..not a healthy thing, IMO.
Sharla, fellow posters, I thank you for your efforts in this blog, and I enjoy your comments, opinions and observations every day...hopefully we can continue here and continue to exchange information and views about this family. Can we continue? I don't think the Duggar publicity will go away just yet, so much more still to comment on..

Is it true that Jim bob will be involved in the documentary?

Incredulous said...

When you view your progeny and their spouses as extensions of yourself as JB does, you have to go down with your ship if one of them tips the boat. In this case, JB and Michelle started the sinking process years ago through lying, irresponsibility, hypocrisy, arrogance, religious zeal, adherence to a cult, etc. Josh, thinking he could get rich and famous like his dad by becoming his clone, gave it the final tip. Tragically, JB and M took a lot of innocent babes down with them and it's hard to forgive them for that. Certainly, they cannot be admired for it.

I'm confused about Anna. I realize it's easy to put on a happy face for a camera, but there is nothing in her face or body that suggests ongoing pain such as strained red eyes, stiff smile, tense shoulders, etc. There is no indication that she feels a need to get out of the fantasy world she seems to live in. If she does, she hides it well. That's sad.

Esther said...

I read on Time that they were to have this show in the fall. So I guess TLC will have to go to El Salvador to interview Jill? (I don't believe for a minute that this is a long term mission trip and that she won't be back very soon. They will have some lame excuse on why they scurried back....which will keep us entertained.) Can't wait for the next chapter.

Jim Bob and Michelle are rolling in it, I'd be surprised if they children ever seen the money. Not that it's gone, just that Jim Bob would put up a fight before he parts with it. That would be a courtroom fight I'd love to see. Jana, Jinger and Joy Anna asking for her fair share so they can go on and live their lives.

Please don't berate me for this comment. First I am not religious but I do pray. Second I believe & want to thank Jish Duggarc as the beginnjng catalyst causing this heinous Duggars program to be cancelled. JB is clueless in that God may have intervened regarding the cancellation of this duplicitous show. I don't believe Gid is a fan of CULTS. However JB us too uneducated & ignorant to grasp this concept. There is a verse in the Bible that states "your sins will find you out" & Josh Duggarcwas the vehicle that led to elimination of 19 Kids. I regret & I am saddened that Josh's sisters & the baby sitter were victims of Josh 's crime but this crime needed to be exposed. I truly believe there is more dirt about the Duggars yet to be revealed. It was quite disturbing to me when Saint Jim Bob commented that the favorite room in the Duggar home was his daughters room. That comment was errie & well, just creepy. I too agree that Jim Bob Duggarcshould have zero imput into the documentary to be produced by TLC. If Jill & Jessa are apart of this documentary it will be the same old "like" every other word interview as it was when Meghyn Kelky of Fox News interviewed the four of them. My question is why is TLC including sanctimonious & narcissistic Jim Bob in producing this documentary? It makes little or no sense to me. I just really want Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar to go far far away & stop boring us with subliminal messages in an attempt to covert viewers to the insanity & deceptiveness that is the depraved Gothard Cult. Please Jim Biob & Michelle grow up & go away.

Katie's Mom, definitely agree. On it earlier today. Update: Have posted several messages to TLC, Dateline, 20/20 & Alexander at In Touch about the upcoming documentary to be produced by TLC & that uneducated Jim Bob Duggar should have ZERO implantation as to the manner in which this documentary should be produced because as I write to the media this documentary will be a clone of the Meghyn Kelly interview which is full of lies & deception & will not be helpful to those people who have or are currently suffering from sexual & physical abuse. I will continue to phone & email media & TLC & will never acwiess. (New word for Jill). Had to toss that comment into this post. Thank you.

Is the Duggar show really done!? I know what you are all going to answer. "Didn't you read the TMZ article?" "Discovery Network already said they had cancelled the show", etc. But excuse if this has already been posted and I'm repeating something someone has already said, unfortunately due to my schedule I cannot read every comment someone has written but anyway; I just went to the TLC website: http://tlc.com and on their list of all the shows that channel has, 19K&C is still listed as one of them. In my opinion, that show should be off the list of TLC shows by now.

Here is the link

Thank you to all of you who continue to "fight the good fight." I see lots of comments on the RAINN Facebook page asking the organization to please not include the Duggars in the upcoming special about child sexual abuse. The other organization partnering on this project is Darkness to Light (d2l.org and also on Facebook). There are some posts there, too requesting a Duggar-free special, but not as many. I'm sure our DWOP friends can remedy this situation PDQ!

SMH, I've seen the TLC website take months to remove shows after they were cancelled. The web people getting the order to change the website and then doing it is no reflection on whether the show is over or not.

Duggar Family Still Deeply Involved With TLC After Cancellation — And A Spinoff May Still Happen

TLC may have pulled 19 Kids And Counting off the air, but the network is still keeping the Duggar family close. They still haven’t ruled out a spinoff, they’re still featuring the family on their website alongside shows that are still airing, and they’re actually using Jill and Jessa in the upcoming special about child sex abuse. If the show is really cancelled, why is TLC holding on so tight? What are their future plans for the Duggar family?

A full day after the cancellation announcement, TLC’s website still features Duggar interviews, clips about Josiah’s courtship, and full episodes.

That’s not all. TLC has promised a special documentary later this summer, focusing on child sex abuse and the damage it causes. The network has been working with two victims’ advocacy groups: RAINN and Darkness to Light. However, the documentary will also include victims — including two of Josh Duggar’s victims.

“TLC will work closely with both groups and with the Duggar family on a one-hour documentary that will include Jill and Jessa and other survivors and families that have been affected by abuse.”

The two married Duggar daughters have already spoken about their role in Josh’s crimes — insisting that the family has been victimized, not by the actual sexual abuse, but by the revelation. In an interview with Megyn Kelly, the two minimized the abuse, insisted that they weren’t harmed, and reassured the audience that the whole Duggar family had forgiven Josh and that forgiveness should be the end.

Now the two will appear in TLC’s special, but in what capacity? Is Jill to come back from her missions trip to give new testimony? Will TLC recycle clips from the Duggar family interviews with Megyn Kelly and allow sexual abuse experts to point out the behaviors so common to victims (denying, minimizing, insisting that the abuser is a great guy), or will this be another opportunity for Josh’s family to come to his defense?

TLC isn’t saying, but on RAINN’s Facebook page, followers, fans, and survivors of sexual abuse are begging the experts to address these issue — or leave the Duggar family out entirely.

“Please do not use any of the Duggar family for your special on child sexual abuse. Their views on this subject are well known and totally contradict the information on your website.”

“Please make sure the Duggars do not continue to minimize sexual abuse and blame everyone but Josh, Jim Bob and Michelle.”

Others ask for other Duggar family issues — like rules about forgiveness, as well as misogyny and blanket training — to be brought up. In their book, Growing Up Duggar, the oldest four Duggar girls talk about forgiveness. Most people think of forgiveness as a decision. The young women make it clear that in the Duggar family, it is an obligation — not only to the transgressor, but to God and self. A person who fails to forgive is committing a sin, and forgiveness must be given freely and promptly.

This doesn’t exactly give much weight to the assurances Josh Duggar was forgiven — or to TLC’s decision to keep the Duggar girls on the air for yet another special.

It’s not just the child sex abuse case, either — the Duggar family has been the subject of FCC complaints for their endorsement of beliefs that subjugate and diminish women.

Moreover, according to CNN Money, a TLC spokesperson explicitly stated that the network is not ruling out a Duggar family spinoff series with some of the children.

TLC may have cancelled 19 Kids And Counting, but they’ve made it clear that they’re not yet done with the Duggar family — and the family’s time in the spotlight is not yet at an end.

Did it take that long for TLC to take "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" of their listing? In my opinion TLC should take "19K&C" off their show listing as respect for those who have suffered abuse and also out of respect for those whom the Duggars have insulted by pointing the finger at for not following their same "Christian" lifestyle.
I believe that since the Duggars are still on the lineup of shows, it means that TLC is continuing to pay them. TLC also benefits by making money everytime someone clicks to watch one of the videos on their website. Just my thoughts.

In the past some of we posters have commented that perhaps a few Duggars may post using another name to this blog. With the obvious limited grammar, vocabulary skills as well as education & level of intelligence, unless the Duggars incorporated a ghost post writer I don't believe they have the guts to post to this blog. The Duggars especially Jim Bob is all about TV & "Duggars on Parade" that reality is No Longer & Thankfully a viable Option for Jim Bob & Michelle. Thanks again TLC for canceling this deceptive & heinous 19' Kids program what a relief & finally!

I have to wonder: are the kids (including the adult "kids") going to miss the attention they've been used to all of these years? I would guess they are. People Magazine covers, wedding specials, baby specials, press, ect. Jessa might be spitting nails that her baby's birth won't be filmed for thousands to see and focus on.

KimmieH said...

Jessa as an author PLEASE what a joke. This woman is so far behind in education that she is clueless about the real horrific holocaust that happened during WW2 as she compares this travesty to the use of birth control. Jessa needs to become educated or just PLEASE keep her mouth closed. Ignorance & Jessa Seewald are great & familiar bedfellows.

It did take weeks for Honey Boo Boo to be completely removed from TLC's website. I'm not sure it's been completely scrubbed. No, the people don't make any money from TLC having anything up about them on the website. They are paid for producing episodes or making appearances to promote the show.

Disgusted said...

And still TLC won't turn their cash cow Duggars loose. 19 Kids and Counting was a huge moneymaker for them and they couldn't bring themselves to cut ties with the Duggar cult entirely, even when Jim Boob and his puppet Michelle were exposed for the evil frauds that they are. Josh, who didn't mind telling gays they'd burn in Hell hasn't had the cojones to speak up for himself. Instead he let his parents and his victims do the talking for him while he hides in the family compound like the coward that he is.
TLC is pretending to care about victims of sexual abuse when all it really cares about is $$$$$.

Disgusted, I was very offended when Josh stupidly made the comment that gay people will burn in hell. I have some gay friends & they are wonderful & equitable people. I wonder if Josh & Jim Bob are aware that liars, deceptive prople & those who worship cult leaders may one day find themselves in the fiery furnace that isn't heaven. We are not suppose to judge. However when members of a cult such as the Gothard & Duggars pick & choose Bible versus out of context to suit their purpose they tread on dangerous ground. True Josh is a coward & his Dad I believe is inwardly a very angry & dangerous person if he doesn't get his way 109% of the time. I know Jim Bob must be reeling & probably throwing childish fits because TLC cancelled his cult promotional program. Well Jim Bob God does work in mysterious ways & I am convinced He is not a fan of any Cult. The Gothard & Duggar Cult requires additional exposure & that should be produced via a documentary to which the self saintly Duggars have Zero Imput.

Good piece this afternoon by Abby Haglage in the Daily Beast. She concludes:

"Missing in the announcements was the key to enacting real change: admitting that something went wrong—and hasn’t been made right. That the system, at least in the Duggars’ case, failed. That kids were put in real danger and that not enough authorities were told. That parents who think molestation is simply “improper touching” don’t understand what it is, and that sisters who attribute their brother’s fondling to “puberty” and being “a little too curious” are still in a great deal of pain.

"When asked about the reactions of the Duggars, who the network has featured on a show for more than seven years, TLC responded “no comment.” Pairing up with two organizations to start a conversation about child sexual violence is noble, but comes with great responsibility. Until we can speak honestly about the Duggars’ case, we can’t expect others to be honest about their own."

I for one as I am sure are many others will never miss Continual pregnancies & toilet births. We will never miss the absurdity & inane rules & practice of courting. I am sure The Duggar kids may go through some withdrawal of the attention from the cameras it's to be expected. Perhaps the absence of the TLC film crew may provide an opportunity for the younger Duggar children to finally receive homeschooling. Granted & unfortunately it is ATI homeschooling but that's the best these ignorant Duggar parents will provide. I believe in prayer & it is my hope that one day very soon the State of Arkansas will intervene on behalf of the Duggar kids & legally remove them from this Stupid & heinous CULT!

Ellyn said...

Who does Jim Bob Duggarcbelive he's fooling? OMG.the conceited behaviorvofvthis guy is outrageous. When Jim Bob said the prayer for Jill & Derick as they travel to do mission work it was clearly not a prayer but a ploy to TLC with the hope to remain on TV. How despicable & depraved is this jerk? I saw through JB's facade of a prayer & believe his attempt to pray reached no higher than the ceiling of the Duggar home. I am so pleased TLC finally cancelled the Duggars.

The Duggars are all about fooling themselves living in the land of fantasy & pretend. Each day they teach the younger Duggar children the world outside of the Duggar compound is evil & not a place they should venture into without an accountability partner. This incredibly stupid method of raising children is just so wrong & teaches or rather sends a message if lies. Yes the world can be a cruel & dangerous place. However the majority if we citizens get up every day go to work earn a living & return home unscathed. Eventually many of the Duggar kids will grow up & may have to seek work outside of the Duggar compound because the money from the gravy train that was once TLC is no more. My concern is with this ATI method of homeschooling & the lack of education this program entails the Duggar kids will be ill equipped to find work unless it is a minimum wage job. The fact that both Jim Bob & Michelle have chosen to discourage a college education is really disturbing. I pray the upcoming Duggar kids will develop a mindset & a thirst to learn, go to college or perhaps a trade school & a career that does not include becoming a midwife or a dula.

Aimee said...

I am glad the show is off the air but truly worry for the kids still at home. How will JB and Michelle explain to them that their beloved film crew (their only outside people) are leaving? How will they explain what school is and that it's not normal to travel constantly? Jackson on down were born on TV and don't know any other life. There will be a huge adjustment for them and who will help them? Jana can't do it all.

19K&C is finally over. Wow! This is like totally surreal! Wouldn't you say? I hope the special documentary on abuse victims goes on, but with Duggar-free content. They are not capable of the serious (AKA intelligent) discussion that needs to happen on this issue.

Buckeye said...

There is a very good article at Time.com explaininhg why the Duggars should not be a part of any documentary on sexual abuse. The article explains the Fundie propensity to blame the victim and shift focus from the horrible abuse that occurred to forgiveness and redemption - and,so, does nothing to address the real issue, which, of course, is the sexual abuse itself.

I fully agree with the article, which is why I believe including the Duggars in TLC' impending 'documentary' seems characteristic of TLC's attempts to capitalize and exploit some of life's ugliest realities by turning them into 'reality' shows, which gloss over what's really going on in these ugly lives.

A TL C 'documentary' is most likely merely a pilot to test the viewing waters for the next exploitation of sexual abuse by featuring the victims as STARS in their next 'reality' show.

Chloe said...

Buckeye, again you clearly explained this upcoming TLC doumentary & the reason every Duggar should be MIA from this production. Will TLC finally get it that no one (apart from fans of the Duggars) wants the Duggars to return to TV. When I see that wretched face of JB I truly become naucious. Please TLC, do not include or prevent JB from implementing his opinions about this documentary. Also TLC, it would be a wise & smart plan to produce & include info about the Bill Gothard Cult & all that it entails. I would watch that documentary. I also belive that in an open format, JB does not have the guts to discuss Gothard. I find this behavior interesting. Perhaps JB is embarrassed about Gothard & won't admit in front of God & everyone that years ago Michelle & he sold out to a despicable Cult. JMO.

Another way to comment on TLC's plans would be through Facebook:

The two groups expecting to have a "long term" relationship with TLC also take comments there:

https://www.facebook.com/RAINN01

https://www.facebook.com/DarknessToLight

The TLC exec who's been the "face" to the 19Kids decisions is Marjorie Kaplan, who's Discovery Communications' group president for TLC, Animal Planet, and Velocity. If there's a stamp handy, her snail mail address is:

Marjorie Kaplan
Group President
One Discovery Place
Silver Spring, MD 20910-3354

I haven't spotted anything about who's going to actually make the documentary. The production company for 19Kids, though, was the North Carolina-based outfit that also has made the Bates and Gosselin shows:

Figure 8 Films
307 W. Weaver St.
Carrboro, NC 27510

Yes, the Duggar "girls" should not be interviewed or used in the special BUT I question the fact that TLC should NOT be doing the special as a network period. Any other network should do a special on sexual abuse & include the Duggar "situation" in its program.

Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that TLC DID know of the situation back then & is concerned re it coming to light? TLC wanting to do the special is just action taken towards their own recovery IMO.

Jim Bob is laughing all the way to the bank; he's set. His only consideration now is to use TLC for future specials on his adult "kids" as a little time passes so they can make some more easy $$$.

What is the point of having a group that works to prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN )on the same show with the Duggars who will be spewing untruths and defending the perp?

I'd love to see counselors from Darkness to Light and RAINN first explaining that some survivors will deny it and why they feel they must....and then go to Jill and Jessa denying it. Adoring followers need to hear what counselors say in order to have their eyes opened tow the fact that these two are hiding things and will never come clean.

I'd love to hear therapists explain on national tv what can happen to people who must keep dark secrets inside. When the Duggars watch themselves (you know they will) they will want to get help. Maybe they should interview people like the Browns: http://www.people.com/article/desirae-deondra-brown-speak-josh-duggar-scandal

I don't think the Duggars should have ANY hand in a documentary about abuse in the family...what more could they add? I think it is the Duggars who should be the subject and have the professionals comment on THEM and how awfully they handled the whole situation...Get them out of there, TLC.

I swear I believe he would stoop to that level. Josiah is trying to be a performance artist with Majory and I wouldn't put it past him either to do a fake accent like that. If it wasn't them pretending to have a foreign accent who was the person doing the talking that is my question.
My goodness they want to stay on TV so bad they are willing to do anything maybe they should go to the E network with the Kardashian's and Caitlin Jenner that's where they belong anyway.

Just read elsewhere that the duggars are heartbroken over cancellation of their show and that they believe it was part of God's plan for them to share their faith on TV. God's plan apparently has a two prong purpose since their show has spread new light on cult like religions that totally distort Christianity and also brought awareness to the subject of molestation and its consequences for the victims.

"No Longer Anonymous" made some good points about the Duggars and their handling of cancellation. When they were interviewed earlier about that possibility, didn't Jim Bob say CLEARLY, that "they would be OK with it either way", that they were going to go about their lives no matter what TLC's decision was? Am I remembering correctly here folks? That's what he said...now, we're reading that they are heartbroken about it?
I would like to offer the Duggar family the option of continuing this "ministry and spreading God's word" across the TV waves as a totally and completely voluntary family..ie, absolutely NO pay for filming them...no monetary compensation for anywhere they go or anything they do that is filmed. Since it's a reality show, weren't they going to go to those places and do those things anyway, cameras or not? So, why pay them for it. Now, that, IMO, would be Christian charity advertising work worthy of calling it a ministry. Bye bye big bucks. I don't think they would opt for that choice at all, because the only thing they are missing besides the attention is the MONEY they get from the show, etc...

Re the Duggars policy of no TV... It seems a contradiction the Duggars desperately want to return to TV since they do not permit tge watching of TV within their home. Also in one of the 19 kids episodes. Michelle advised viewers Not to watch TV. First why would Michelle make this absurd comment. when clearly their 19 Kuds program was their Income? Is The frontal lobe of Michelle's brain functioning or on vacation or both? Much of what thecDuggars do & say makes little or no sense. So many of the Duggar comments are bathed in ignorance. Why then would a network such as TLC want to promote a family loyal to a Cult & living in ignorance? Why would a network such as TLC promote a family who embraces little or no education for their children? It's definitely mind boggling & I just can't accept anything the Duggars do. Since the Duggars are "so religious: and Christian, view their show as a ministry, why is it that they have gone to such pains to really hide their belief from the vieweing audience? We have never heard the name Bill Gothard, ATI/ anti-women's rights and stifling education opportunities come out of their mouths?

Buckeye said...

SO ... Since Josh HIMSELF admitted he acted "INEXCUSABLY," why are his parents and sisters continuing to make EXCUSES for him? and if Jill was SO offended and upset that the Duggar Molestation Manor was brought to light, WHY did she agree to discuss it further on a paid TLC "documentary"?

the Duggars are so SO proud of their absolutely BACKWARD ways ( patriarchy, clothing, birth control ban, on demand sex by dutiful wifey, courting, no alcohol, only religious or classical music, no dancing (need I go on?), how can they possibly lead a conversation about incest and general sexual abuse FORWARD?

Their lame 'JUST a boy in puberty a little too interested in girls','JUST over clothing,' and, though their brother COSBYIZED them in their sleep, this, too, was another EXCUSE for why the incest was a much, much lesser deal than any of the 'sinful' things they beat us all over the head about being so above.

Keep these ignorant hypocrites (Duggar family in general) off tv. There is absolutely nothing they can teach except just how bogus they and their cultish ways truly are.

Anne said...

Yes, they are over for now...........but may come back like Kate Gosselin came back. Jill and Derrick left the country....for now. Jim Bob (according to People magazine) objected to continuing the show with Jill & Jessa and their husbands. He wanted to be in charge. Also, to bring in the money...........but he claims he wants to continue for religious purposes. What does he think about then, if Jill and Jessa continue to "spread the word"..........he is off of that gravy train.

KimmieH said...

Jim Bob wants to continue the show for religious purposes, oh come on why didn't JB say for Gothard cult purposes. This guy is an incredible liar. JB wants to continue for the $$$$ pure greed & nothing else. Please lets get this cult leader wannabe permanently removed from TV!!

JeannieBean said...

Once again, Buckeye, you hit the nail on the head. Based on that recent interview, to include any of the Duggars in this documentary would be a complete insult to any other victims who are brave enough come forward to share their stories. The Duggars' victim blaming, sugar coated protection of the offender and mandatory forgiveness would only negate anyone else's truth. What should be a very serious issue will be reduced to a farce.

The only word that these backward idiots are spreading is ignorance.

Willow said...

When I found out that Jill and Derick's "mission" was the SOS organization, I just saw the final straw on the camel's back. I mean really. BOTH sons-in-law are under Jim Bob and so it is clear the adults will never "leave and cleave" in any way, shape or fashion. It really registers high on the "Ick" factor. If the adult children and their spouses are just going to continue being children of Jim Bob, I just cannot even stand any of them now (the adults). It looks unlikely the other adults will be any different once they are married. They just move in a blob of people, "all together now, two steps left". (Sorry.) It seems Jessa and her man-boy are always at the TTH, hanging out, doing nothing. They are like one big family, just more children and everyone shares in watching them, etc. I predict the next "thing" will be multiple wives. (I'm only half joking). Thanks for letting me vent.

Helen Crump said...

Actually, I agree with Willow's post regarding the "so called adult married Duggar children" being just a continuation of their childhood with their parental units, which now includes their spouses. From the photos and videos posted, Jessa doesn't seem to have a household of her own, does she? She's always hanging around daddy and mama's house doing nothing. Doesn't she have cleaning, laundry, cooking and shopping to do? My household right now (empty nester) consists of two people and I'm busy all day with those things, why isn't she?
It's really is a crying shame that Michelle and Jim Bob don't give a care at all in what they are really giving their kids....no life or maturity at all in their own right.

Sdkoh said...

How will the younger Duggars do after the lack of income? They seem an afterthought, a way to keep ratings up during the "good" years.

Where will this family be in twenty years? Will any older kids show up for Thankgiving dinner? Will some enter middle age still living at home?

KatieP said...

Willow, multiple wives, good point. I've thought the same for quite some time & now you expressed that thought. I've always believed the Gothard Cult patterned after the FLDS & Warren Jeffs cult. Thankfully that pedophile is in prison for life. So Jim Bob & Josh should be aware & take heed.

Cedric said...

Anne, so according to Peole Mag, Jim Bob objected to continuing the show with Jill, Jessa & their husbands. Perhaps this is the reason Jim Bob quickly arranged the mission trip for Jill & Derick thus booting them from the USA. I believe Jim Bob has a criminal mind & attempts (although poorly) to cover it up under the guise of stupid humor, inappropriate sexual innuendo & religion. Hey Jim Bob your plan is not working it is an incredible Failure as are Michelle & you with regard to Parenting.

KatieP said...

The original title of 19 Kids should have been... "Hicks on Parade".

sandi said...

I've a feeling the mission trips, and all the Duggar mission trips, for that matter, are a way to offset taxes by writing off all the travel expenses and such.Jill and Derick made a lot of money off the show, pics, mags, articles, and the music festival, etc.,and since they live on 'donations' now, not having to pay taxes on those, plus writing off all the mission expenses,it would seem a good way to offset their income, (esp. the alleged $100K from the cover of People?),so,in that respect, perhaps the trip now makes more sense (?).That is JMO though. It will be interesting to see if Jessa and Ben go off on a mission after their baby is born, and all the pics and articles are published.

No Longer Anonymous said...

So if Joshie is forgiven for molesting his sisters and a family friend, why can't the Duggars forgive the Chief of Police who released the "boy in puberty who was too curious" records instead of threatening lawsuits to add some more $$$ to their cult coffers. The hypocracy of this family never ceases to amaze me.

Rob said...

Sdkoh your quote..."Where will this family be in twenty years? Will any older kids show up for Thankgiving dinner? Will some enter middle age still living at home?"

Causes me to reply..SHHHH don't give JB or TLC any excuse for a sequel. While curiosity does lead one to wonder what the outcome will be another run of the Dumb Dumbs in the future is nauseating.

Jessa Seewald is not a missionary type personality. Jessa is a taker. Not sure about husband Ben. He seems sort of a non entity.

professor said...

What right does Jim Bob have to decide what Jill and Jessa can and cannot do? They are legal adults in the USA and they should decide whether they want to be on tv or not, leave the family home, live a different way, go to college, spend time alone with another adult, etc. I think Jim Bob and Michelle are unethical and manipulative in the treatment of ADULT offspring. Besides that, they made the decision to have 19 children; Janna was given NO decision making power, even though she is the caregiver. This is IMMORAL! Therefore,by watching the show you are supporting this treatment of adult offspring. It is sexist, passive aggressive behavior that could be labeled illegal in some circles.

I know there are many other Duggar issues that have been discussed, but I thought this issue needed to be addressed and often is overlooked.

frances said...

Excellent comments, professor! Continuing to watch anything to do with the Duggars now, IMO, is simply sending the wrong message to all types of social media and is just giving this family a second wind. The Duggars know it, and that is why they are everywhere on social media and loudly crying their crocodile tears for their axed TV show.

Like many of you, I will NOT watch the TLC documentary that will supposedly feature the two Duggar daughters. Such serious issues should not be trivialized.

Dar said...

Daily Mail online has a picture of Jessa with her "bump" focus. It does say that Jessa will be on TV, involved in the documentary. I hope TLC changes that lineup. Those two girls will cause more damage then good, in my view.

I will not watch it nor any other show with the two older girls, but I do agree with the professor. Why does JimBob have the authority to say what they will be doing? These are two married women, with husbands. The decision should be theirs.

I also wonder just how the atmosphere in that home is now that the cameras and TLC staff are no longer there in the home. I hope those little girls are being looked after and have some joy in their lives. I would hazard a guess that JimBob would be like a bear with a toothache. I don't think he is finished. He will pull out all the stops to get back in the limelight. JMHO

Dee said...

I actually posted a related question about this subject on the July Free Discussion thread.
Reading your thoughts on this made me ponder another possibility.
I wonder if JB is supposedly taking this stance because he thinks it would perhaps get people to ask this very question; 'Who is he to dictate what his grown daughters can and cannot do?'
I wonder if, just possibly, his end game is for people to 'rally' around the girls and say that they *should* have their own show, paving the way for him to worm his way back onto television via the girls' show?
I dunno, maybe I'm too far into the conspiracy theories or giving Jim Bob too much credit as far as scheming goes.
He is just so sneaky and hungry for attention that it makes me wonder.

Ruby said...

Dee, I think you are giving Jim Bob too much credit for thinking this through. He is just a selfish, immature, clueless, directionless, money-grabbing tv star wannabe. He flies by the seat of his pants using the Bible to justify anything he wants to do. I do agree that he is hungry for attention. He also loved the easy money that came from the TLC gravy train. The ride is over.

Bobbi said...

Just wrote another email to TLC regarding the upcoming documentary once again carefully explaining the reasons why Jill & Jessa should not be included in this documentary as well as narcissistic & addicted to attention Jim Bob Duggar. Please join me in bombarding TLC with messages regarding the production of this documentary. The email I used was valid & I didn't experience problems in sending. Thanks.

Ruby - You're probably right. If JB had that much forethought I think he would have handled the whole Fox interview differently rather than totally tanking himself with the 'we're victims' defense.

Bobbi - I too am contacting TLC regularly. Fingers crossed they're listening.

Incredulous said...

Since when do people get paid for being in a "documentary?" A documentary is a form of journalism and follows specific journalistic rules. Participants are not paid as it changes the relationship of the participants and the producers, et.al., and undermines the film's credibility. If Jim Bob is able to get the girls (aka Jim Bob) paid for this gig, he's likely holding something over the TLC heads (like a lawsuit?) or TLC is stupidly desperate to keep them on the network.

sandi said...

Ruby,I agree,I think it is what it is and JB is selfish and spoiled, and does not want the girls to have the limelight, and wants all the attn for himself. And if he can't have it then,no show.Jill and Derick knew it and took off,not waiting to see what might happen.

Cedric said...

Sandi, Jim Bob is not only incredibly selfish but constantly in Ned of attention. Jim Bob exhibits addictive tendencies. As I've said previously, With JB's narcissistic behavior down the road he could be dangerous. Ca it women's intuition I just believe since the cancellation of 19 Kids, Jim Bob is a powder keg waiting to explode.

Dee said...

Cedric - I agree with you. I fully believe that Jim Bob is a raging narcissist and they do not take kindly to being told 'No' or having their goals thwarted.
Behind that 'Aww shucks/Good Ol' Boy' demeanor beats the heart of a scary control freak who has just had a big chunk of his livelihood and his 'image' wiped out.
He bears watching.
I remember watching the episode where the girls' bedroom was being redecorated. Michelle's friend, Cindy, was helping and watching her and Jim Bob bump heads was very telling about Jim Bob's true nature (clip can be found on YouTube - 'Redecorating the Girls' Room')
You can tell that he is VERY unhappy about having anybody, most especially a woman, contradict his opinion.
I'd say 'powder keg' is a perfect description of this man.

I just read that Jimboob and Mullet want to do a show about them them counseling sexual abuse victims. They hid the fact that their son abused his sisters and when that fact came out, they made every excuse in the book for his actions. Would they tell victims to simply forgive their abuser, pray about it and then everything will be ok. It would be a joke just as it was when they counseled Jillymuffin and Derickdillard before they got married. They have absolutely no business counseling anybody.

Does anyone know if the family is still being investigated by family services?

sandi said...

Cedric, that is certainly possible, maybe even more than plausable, and WILL happen, sometime down the road? Esp. if JB gets sued,or files a lawsuit and doesn't win.Whom is he going to take that out on? I wouldn't care to be near him!

Bobbi said...

Hello, OMG what? Jim Bob & Michelle doing a show about counseling victims of abuse. Are they serious? Do these people ever get reality? Are they really this clueless or stupid. They barely finished high school & hate college or any woman who attends college. This counseling BS insults every professional who chose the field of mental health & counseling. Jim Bob & Michelle are unbelievable. When Please will these idiots go away. I don't know what more we posters can do to stop the insanity that is the creepy Duggars. I am now at a loss for words. Geez.

Bobbi said...

Someone please enlighten me. Why on tis earth is TLC still continuing a relationship with Jim Bob? Why is TLC allowing Jim Bib to have any kind of voice in their documentary? Why Jill & Jessa in this documentary. I just read the post about Jim Bob & Michelle wanting a show to counsel abuse victims. WHY? I compare Jm Bob & Michelle to annoying Mosquitos or cockroaches & I am being kind. I will continue to email TLC but now question their intelligence. Is TLC realty that desperate for money that they have to dangle their feet in the gutter known as the Duggars? I am now righteously angry. One more detail, I also compare Jim Bob & Michelle to poison ivy.

Chloe said...

Marie, one can only hope investigation of the Duggars continues.

Heart in Florida said...

Absolutely agree about being paid for contributions in a documentary...One should NOT be paid at all to participate. It is a voluntary appearance to help educate and raise awareness about a particular subject. It's almost one's duty to help educate on a serious subject such as this. If the Duggar family receives one cent or any compensation for their participation, they should turn over that compensation to abuse shelters or to a related charitable organization. This family needs to step up to the place ON THAT SUBJECT and announce if they are being paid or not in any way and if so, what they are doing with every cent of it.
Their silence about this, including TLC'S silence is telling already.IMO

Unknown said...

Just emailed tlc about the documentary and not including the Duggars. Let's keep it up and maybe they will listen

Dee said...

Bobbi - I understand your frustration. Remember how the Duggars are though. There is actual reality and then there is 'Duggar Reality'. Kind of like 'Duggar Time' in which being on time, for them, translates into showing up hours late.
In their past delusions, they have convinced themselves that Jill is a midwife and Jana is a concert pianist. It's not that big of a stretch for them to view their 'stellar' handling of the whole Josh incident as proof that they have a rare and valuable talent for counseling victims of abuse. Never mind all the pesky facts about sweeping it under the rug and how their actions caused them to lose their show. That's where the God Goggles come in handy.
Really, I'm not sure if their desperation is more sad or funny at this point. They're like chickens with their heads cut off running around making all these grand plans that anybody with a brain can see are not going to pan out for them.
I see this as the Jim Bob version of a little kid's temper tantrum. "You took away my show!! Well, then....I'm gonna....I'm gonna....I'm gonna get a NEW show!! Yeah! It's gonna be WAY better! I'm gonna counsel victims of abuse 'cuz I am SO good at that! You'll SEE!! You'll all be SORRY! Nyah, Nyah, NYAH!!"

It's really creepy and sad.

Who knows if the entire story about JimBob and Michelle wanting to start a show about counseling abuse victims is true or not. If there is even a grain of truth to it, however, I agree with what others have said about just how delusional those two are. It also flies in the face of the fact that they couldn't even explain "proper versus improper" touching to their younger children. When the Josh scandal first broke, there was a well-documented story that came out about how Michelle had had some expert lady come to their house to give a presentation/talk to the younger ones about proper body touching and what is off limits, etc. The lady was quoted saying how well behaved the kids were, but that she had been disappointed in how JB and Michelle handled the Josh news, etc.

If they can't even talk to their own children about personal space and improper touching, how on earth are they going to counsel victims of sexual abuse??!!???

June Bug said...

Sorry Jim Bob but I think it might have been God's will for you and your family to get OFF TV, not stay ON TV. This show was ended for a reason. Surely they didn't think this show could possibly go on forever. Their desperation and need for attention looks more ignorant every day, it's almost sad. Didn't they say in the Fox interview that life would go on as usual even if they were no longer filming?. And Jessa said they were not a tv family, yeah right. I'm sure JB socked away more money than they'll ever need. They can continue "their ministry" they just don't have to do it on TV. They better be thankful for the long run they had on TLC. Can you imagine what their finances would look like if TLC or some other stupid network hadn't picked them up. I don't think they would be "debt free" today but heck who knows maybe they're not debt free anywhere they lie so much.
The thought of Jim Bob or any other Duggar possibly being paid for this upcoming documentary makes me sick. I've decided I'm not gonna watch it. I refuse to help any Duggar ratings.

syndee said...

People discuss if any of the kids in the family have any free will - probably no, they follow the parents. Or if Michelle is running the show - again probably no, she seems to follow JB. Well maybe JB isn't even acting on his own, maybe he is going crazy trying to keep on TV because the "elders" are pushing him. Those same elders he went to about Josh in the first place. If he totally had free will I think he would have never gone to elders and confessed, he would have kept the Josh thing quiet.

So I wonder if someone is pushing him behind the scenes, because the family really shouldn't be desperate for money (they should have some saved), so what else could be driving that level of groveling that just doesn't seem normal.

coleen said...

If anyone has any extra $, you can donate to Duggar Studios on Youtube. I don't understand why they would ask for donations; they made millions off of the tv show.

Rob said...

Concerning the wealth of the Duggar family during the run of their show below is the cut and pasted line from the Wikipedia page devoted to 19 Kids And Counting..

"TLC paid the Duggar family an estimate of US$25,000 to US$45,000 per episode. Due to the show cancellation, the loss of endorsements, speaking engagements and book deals based on the show, would result in a loss of an estimate of US$25 million a year."

Now look at the 1st number..25 THOUSAND bucks per EPISODE!! I'm still not over 25 thousand bucks a YEAR in my personal income!! A loss of 25 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR total income!?! Oh spare me their crocodile tears!! You'd have to be a fool to think they are going to the poor house anytime soon. "Buy used save the difference." So the question that begs to be asked is "Just what did YOU save Jim Bob?" Having put that mantra out for so many years he can't come crying to ANYONE about any financial troubles he may be facing now.

buckeye said...

"God Goggles" - love it! too funny!! am guessing you can order them online and that they come with a Bible and an NRA bumper sticker.

hello said...

So now they are begging for donations for Duggar Studios on youtube and claim they will lose $25 million a year in speaking engagements, book deals and endorsements. If they were still filming a show it would be called 19 Kids and Begging. Cousin Amy is saying she will send a handwritten thank you to anyone who sends her cards or other things (gifts). Jessa and Ben are attending some conferences and will be speaking, answering questions and signing autographs. The last one they are attending in in Florida and is a couple of weeks before the baby is due. Jimboob and Mullet should be encouraging their kids to get an education and real jobs. I have a feeling the kids won't see any of the money that was paid to them for doing the show.I wonder if the girls got any of the money from the book they didn't write. The kids are going to be in for abrude awakening when all the babies start coming and they don't have income coming in to support them.

I would never pay one red cent to any Duggar beg-a-thon speaking event. You know, I really hope some of the Duggars read the messages posted on this blog. Although since the Duggars live in the world of delusional pretend land they may be too much of a coward to face real truth.

Dar said...

Are they really asking for money for their you tube show? Please say that is not true. I can't believe JimBob would be involved in any show about how to deal with the subject of proper and improper touching. This is the clown who was "dry humping" his wife in front of his daughters and their fiancees at the miniature golf place. This man shows he has no respect for his wife. There is also something creepy with him. I think of when he and Jessa were together, before the walk down the aisle and he was telling her how beautiful she is. Just skin crawly. He also made a big deal of Jill leaving, crying, etc. No, I don't like him at all.

Bobbi said...

Duggars are minus class, dignity, filters & just common decency. So the Duggars have initiated a Beg-A-Thon asking money for... Duggar Studios, youtube videos (really laughed at that one), speaking events & a ploy to return to TV? This behavior is just rude, insulting & nauseating. However those unfortunate people who have drunk the Kool aid of the Duggars & those with limited income will donate to this dishonest & disgusting family. It's so sad. This is why we to be diligent in continuing to email TLC & other media to finally STOP the Duggar Cult forever.

Bobbi said...

Sharla, hope you are doing well. Yesterday 7/28, I sent three emails to TLC providing many reasons as to why the Duggars & creepy Jim Bob should never return to TV. JB, the Duggars are minus shame, tact & honesty. They are extremely TOXIC.

Many of you feel that daddy is creepy. I agree, his actions toward women are degrading. This makes me very uncomfortable and nervous every time I see him. I bring this up because I allege that there is a direct correlation between Joshs behavior and his fathers actions. This makes it unbelievable to have him lead anything that would help girls survive sexual assault. I believe that he should be held just as responsible for sexual assault as his son. I hope the survivor suing Josh can include his father/family for presenting role models/situations where this would be acceptable if not encouraged and for not stopping it. Of course in daddy's heart it may not be so bad if he thinks Goddard can abuse girls.

Helen Crump said...

So, the Duggars are reportedly losing $25,000,000 in lost speaking engagements, endorsements and the TV show...and they are worth ONLY $3,000,000? Something is wrong with those numbers....They should be worth quite a bit more than that amount as reported. I don't trust them any farther than I can collectively throw them, as the old saying goes.

Rudy Tecat said...

It was God's plan, Jim Bob, for you to lose the TV show (and the TV money) to teach you humility!

Whoever wrote the article about the Duggars losing $25 M a year can't do math. The Duggars would have been very lucky to have gotten $25 M over the course of the entire show including all their other earnings. TLC simply does not pay the numbers that the media like to throw around.

KimmieH said...

Helen, obviously the numbers don't add up. It's all a crock of BS. Jim Bob is the King of BS.

This is a good one... On another blog I read someone suggested that Josh go to work for the Institute of basic life principles in Chicago IBLP (founded by Gothard). Josh's former job the FRC was mentioned that the IBLP could set up a regional office in Arkansas because the poster wrote that Josh has executive experience. I think this is the same org that Michaella Bates fiancé Brandon works & I think Alyssa Bates husband is invoked as well as Erin Bates husband Chad. If Josh were to go to work for the IBLP, they could change the name of the business to "Gothard's band of cult promoting merry men".

Dar said...

Anyone can create a channel on you tube and there is no cost. One of the boys can handle a camera. For what purpose are they asking for donations?

Yes good one.. Ok please don't think I am addle. Could it be there's a definite connection between the FRC & the IBLP? It seems a logical & realistic question. Please share.

Bobbi said...

Here's the thing.. So Brandon K future son in law of Gil & Kelly Bates is employed with the IBLP, sons in law Chad Paine & Alyssa's husband are involved with the IBLP. For some time, my question is when the Duggars were on TV why didn't they mention the IBLP? The same now with the Bates? During one episode of the Bates, Kelly mentioned it would take some time for Michaella to adjust to Chicago because that's where Brandon has his job. No mention of where Brandon is employed. Are the Duggars embarrassed or ashamed of Bill Gothard? Why do they avoid speaking about the IBLP? This behavior has always seemed shady & made me curious. Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

Chloe said...

For the purpose to sit back & collect money sent to them because the Duggars see themselves as Gothard royalty. Therefore, because they were on a reality show they believe they are entitled to fans sending money to them this is why they continually solicit funds & cry poor is me. Unfortunately it is those people with limited income & those taken in by the deception of the Duggars who will send money to them. Regardless if Jim Bob is aware that people with limited income send money to his family, he will laugh all of the way to the bank because he has no heart or soul & could care less about the people who've sent money. However, to appear that he cares, Jim Bob will fake it.

Bobbi, I have thought the very same thing about the Duggar and Bates silence about these organizations, IBLP, ATI, Gothard,, etc.. It is quite curious that they have dedicated their whole lives and lifestyles to this belief system and to this man's interpretation of sctipture, yet have TO DATE, NEVER mentioned one syllable about these organizations or this man. It doesn't add up to me. Someone credible, really needs to look in to this and ask them exactly why that is...also, a good documentary about these organization, their beliefs and this man need to be produced. I bet many will watch and learn something.

Jimboob and Mullet have sunk to a whole new low by begging for money. They said they were living debt free before the show, but I believe they got accustomed to TLC paying for a new house, furnishings, trips around the world, their kid's weddings and everything else TLC footed the bill for. Jimboob and Mullet seem more upset about the show being cancelled and the money that came with it than the fact their pedophile son sexually abused his sisters. They are not good people and are certainly not role models.

I can't believe that they would be asking for DONATIONS to live on. That is clearly against any Christian belief. God dislikes idlers in his kingdom. We all need work for ourselves.
