Out of curiosity, I once watched a televangelist & called the toll free number. Someone answered & immediately asked for a donation. Minus profanity, I relayed my opinion of religious TV & of the idiocy regarding Beg-AThins. I was successful to speak quickly before the idiot handling the phone call hung up on me. Anyway, it felt good to express my anger to a religion TV program that clearly was about taking money from anyone who would give it to them & that was their mission. It wasn't about serving God. It's too bad many folks don't realize this fact.

It is going to be interesting to see how the Duggar weddings will go,now that the tlc money isn't there.My guess is a backyard wedding,done as cheaply as possible.The guests will probably be lucky to get a small sliver of cake and a small cup of punch.But the begging for expensive gifts will go on,possibly minus Josiah (and a few others),who seems like he has common sense.JMO

For a man who professes to not "be of this world or live for this world, but the next" he sure has a hoard of earthly possessions...heavy equipment, cars, trucks, busses, motor home, lawn and tractor equipment and that warehouse filled to the brim with junk. I don't call that living for the next world...if he liquidated and kept only what this family really needed, they could double their cash net worth. Michelle needs to clean out the cupboards in that warehouse too of all her old baby stuff, or pass it on "buy used and save the difference" to her daughters; etc or some other young women who could really use the stuff. I doubt we will see any of that happen.
Also, that house that they designed and built, is a bad investment. Who designs a floorplan with the amount of living area square footage that they have with a small number of bedrooms? Who would that house and property sell to in the future? As each one of the kids marry, it will seem more and more unbalanced of a home. They have planned that household around the concept that all of the kids will be there forever, IMO. I don't wish them any 'bad vibes" or anything like that for what they have, but I don't think they are wise in their financial life as they think they are or profess to the public to be.
Heart in FL,yes,4 bedrooms and 9 baths is pretty out of balance for a house.And with that many ppl in the house,I would have put the bedrooms on the 1st floor,in case of fire.

TLC has released a ton of 2-3 minute videos on youtube that have never been aired. Some of them are kindof weird, one in particular of Jim Bob playing basketball with Lawson Bates. Jim Bob is doing everything thing he can to win, and the Bates TH even says he cheated. The thing that struck me though was I have never seen JB move like this physically, not be so unfiltered. There is another clip when the kids are all making slushies before going somewhere, last minute. Those kids are wild at home.

I choose not to watch the TLC released videos on youtube of the Duggsrs as I will not give them a vehicle or edge to return to TV. Boycotting Duggars for good.

The so called "Duggar Studios" production team is the same type of "pass your time until you get married, guys" expertise that Jill had in her "midwifery studies", Jinger has in her photography, Jessa in her "makeup and hairdo selfies"; and Jana's concert piano playing skills....If some of their sons have a genuine interest in TV production, filming and directing, they should ALLOW their sons to actively apply for jobs in television production and give those young guys a chance to support themselves and the dozens of children that they are required to produce first.
Duggar Aviation, Duggar Studios is simply a household activity that they put a title to for tax reasons.
Also, if this family has been reportedly paid around $25,000 per episode, averaged out over 10 years on TV, the would have a gross income of $250,000 per year for 10 episodes a YEAR, and after ten years, that's $2,500,000...gross just from the show. They state that they are worth $3.2 million dollars? I'd say this prosperity came directly from the TV show; Jim Bob didn't seem to have much before that at all. Numbers don't lie. I'm sure they were struggling financially before TLC knocked on their door.

I suspect the D's made more than 25K per episode.Kate G. was rumored to have made up to 75K per show,so the D's might have made that much,or more,per episode.
That rumor about Kate's earnings was utter and complete rumor. It came out that they really were making less than $25K per episode at their peak.

If all the Duggars living in the metal pole barn who are old enough to get a job, even a minimum wage job, they could adequately support their family since they don't have house or car payments. Most of us had after-school jobs as early as age 16 and the experience taught us that if you want something you must work for it. Time to go to work Duggars!
From birth, the Duggar female children are indoctrinated into the path they will be forced or rather brainwashed into beliving their only worth in life is courting, engagement, marriage & of course continual pregnancies to wear their bodies out early on. Just look at Anna. Anna appears in looks about age 40. Look at Michelle she looks older than Jim Bob. Through the success if Gothard rules & brainwashing, these Duggar girls just don't know any better. How can they ignore the world around them with so many women their age graduating college & enjoying careers, contributing to society. Jim Bob will never ever permit his daughters to go to college or become employed in a career because this would open wide the eyes of the Duggar daughters & this they would soon realize the dishonesty, controlling, narcissistic behavior of Jim Bob & probably lose respect & distance themselves from dim bulb. As stated previously, some once from child services or higher within the state of Arkansas, need to continue investigating Jim Bob & Michelle. During the episode at a restaurant with Ben, Jessa & Ben's parents, Jim Bob became outraged when Ben & Jessa held hands to pray. Jim Bob controlled his anger but it was clearly visible that he didn't approve. When ZtLC wasnt filming, I believe Jim Bob is a cruel task master & extremely abusive with his kids.
No longer Anon, the cultish manner in which Jim Bob & Michelle have raised or are raising their children prevents the Duggar kids from seeking employment. With this method of raising children, JB & M have really done a tremendous disservice to their kids. It's as if the Duggar parents haves decided to prevent their kids from growing up. I realize the girls are raised to become wives & baby factories. What about the Duggar boys? The only "boy" who has become employed temporarily is Josh & yet he had no knowledge or training for the position he was hired at the FRC. The Bates boys seem to excel & Lear a trade or go to college. In this regard, Gil & Kelly Bates are far more progressive vs Jim Bob & Michelle who've chosen to live in the dark ages. Perhaps Jim Bob was under the impression the TLC gravy train would never end. I believe he may have fooled himself in this thought process because he's not a forward thinking or smart person. I believe the elders of the Gothard cult control Jim Bob & Michelle now even more so because of the 19 Kids program. Again, I see the Duggar boys living at home floundering when they become adults. This is abuse of the Duggar kids on so many levels.
Their income wasn't just from the show. They also had income from speaking engagements, their books, People covers, etc. In addition, I think Jim Bob was continuing his real estate business and house flipping. I'm sure they have plenty. They might have to be a little more careful now, but no one's going to starve.

Well, the title of this thread, "It is done" now applies to the courtship of Josiah and Marjorie. I fail to see how "courting" for four months is better and holier than casually dating someone for four months. If their interest in each other couldn't survive more than four months then I am glad the courtship is over. Yes, they were surrounded by a lot of family drama, which may have impacted the courtship, but intense family drama is part of many marriages, too.
I now am curious if Ben Seewald will remain with Jessa. Clearly Ben was captivated by the TLC cameras. Regarding Derick, I believe he may really love Jill. Howevr as far as we know, Ben is unemployed unless one may count working as an underling for sanctimonious & creepy Jim Bob. Time will tell.
Concerned Teacher....please remember that intense family drama is non existent for this perfect, God pleasing, (better than you and me) family. Negative things just don't happen to them..therefore, courtship, marriages, babies and life in general is a walk in the park and always a sunny day for them.
This "drama" happened to the Duggars in their opinion because the heathens are after them and want to shut their mouths about God, etc on TV. They truly think that they are being sought after when it is their own actions, words and history that has done them in. They need to start telling the truth.

The boy is bound to stay married now unless Jessa were to be unfaithful. (actually Jessa could leave if he were unfaithful as well) The verse from scripture that they'd throw in his face is from Matthew 19 verse 9 "I tell you anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery." Other admonitions to remain married can be found in 1 Corinthians. It is my belief that these scriptures are what binds Anna to stay with Josh seeing as how in their distorted view the molestation acts were not marital unfaithfulness. (He was as Jessa so adamantly told us just a confused pubescent) Even though I know many Pastors will not judge an abused woman for seeking a divorce (and indeed she should) it is odd that no justification for divorce due to abuse can be found in scripture. So in Duggargothadism married couples can not EVER divorce for any reason. So sorry Begerman Boy youse be stuck. Now playing devils advocate for a moment what if he were to suddenly say "this is all BS and I don't believe a word anymore". Well reading those words I alluded to from 1 Corinthians Jessa still cannot leave because of an unbelieving spouse. SHE would still be bound to her vows. Bottom line divorce for a Duggar or anyone who marries one is not reality nor would it be tolerated.
If they fully follow Matthew 19:9 if anyone were to get a divorce on the grounds of adultery, or she she wouldn't be able to remarry as long as the other spouse is alive. Ben is full of teenage hormones right now, it'd be a few years before he considers whether he made a mistake.

I agree he acted as if he had lost his mind because two engaged people were actually touching each others hands. But what was just as bad or even worse was Michelle in her, "Minnie Mouse," voice totally losing it & asking:"What should we do Daddy?"

Josh never got to sow any oats, either, and we see now what the result of that is. He's making up for lost time, never mind his wife and kids at home. I'm not saying Ben would do anything like that but none of these boys (and girls, either) are being done any favors. It will never cross Jim Bob's and Michelle's mind that maybe the way they raised the kids contributed to this. I hope they don't tighten up even more on the younger kids.

In deed the greatest gift you can give your kid is FREEDOM. Freedom to discover their selves. Living independently, forging friendships, paying bills, being able to have a night out be that a bar or ball game. Free to associate to be who HE wants to be. With Josh the admiration and attention he got from other woman for being Josh Duggar and the FRC golden boy showed him that he opted into marriage before really discovering the personalities of other girls. Single and married woman fawning all over him and flirting him up was way more than he was prepared for. Still it is his fault for getting those Adultery Site accounts. His natural growth was certainly suppressed. It's like once a year being able to look at a Snickers Bar then suddenly finding out you've lived your whole life next to a candy store. It is grossly UNrealistic to believe, as his parents do, you are providing "certain protections" for your kid by forcing them to live under your roof until they marry. YOU need the experiences of interaction with others to expand your grasp on life. The Duggars and now the new son-in-laws have been denied that growth. Sadly much more will be disclosed to them. To go back to my candy store analogy, if you've only experienced Snickers what do you do when you discover you could have tried Payday or Mounds or Almond Joy or Milky Way or Baby Ruth? Why you try them of course on the sly if you have to. Give your kids freedom to make their own choices. That's how you really learn to be an adult.
