Tues, March 23, 2010, Duggars in the Driver's Seat

It's all about cars for the Duggars! Joseph and Josiah travel back to Springdale with the TV crew to do some work on the house. While there, the Duggar boys help Josh and Anna at the car lot as Anna sells her first car.

OMG! If Josh taught me to drive I would run the passenger side of the car into a pole.

I know we're going to discuss the Nationwide plug here. It's part of any reality show. They plug the insurance company and the family gets free or a great discount on insurance. That's how TV advertising works. I'll plug Nationwide too. They're my company. ;)

I really liked this episode. It was just this and that, every day stuff, but I liked it. It showed more of each one's personality. They just seemed more like a regular family this time. McKynzie (sp?) is so cute. Sounds like little Josie is coming along pretty well and that is great news. Seems everyone is getting homesick. Johannah was cute when making presents to send to John. Josiah was funny when he was given the chore of picking up the mess from the dog -- and making the bacon.

Please!! No more Josh!! He is so uneducated and full of himself!!! Anna, I just feel bad for her... She does not even take care of herself anymore..

Also, how did the Duggars have 15 cats??? Someone schould investigate this?? Average cat lives 12-15 years??

The Duggars boys did even care about that young dog!!?? That dog was confused and scared!!

I used to be a big fan of the Duggars.. But, the more I watch the more I sour on them..
JB is getting very creepy to me...
The girls look like they are becoming wise to the world... I hope JB does not notice this because he will put them more on "lockdown".. I pray that in 10 years a "tell all" book comes out.. BY all the STAGED answers they give all the time, they must be hiding something..

Hannah said...

Did anyone else notices Joshs tooth that was sticking out.

Anonymous said...

The comment on the Duggars owning 15 cats was in at least a 15-20 year time frame, not at all at one time!

Otherwise, the episode was fine, just normal stuff and daily routine living.

Notice how we really do not hear or see much of Jinger?? I wonder if it is secondary to her popularity on the web?? I wonder if JB got wind of this?? There are about 3 facebook pages: "Free Jinger Duggar"

I beleive Josh goes on the web.. His gaint ego demands it!! Also, he is "strong enough" not to sucked into the evils of the outside world... I know last week she got a little camera time saying how Fat Josh got lol.. But, that has been it.. For a long time.. Jill is the spokesperson for everything..

Josie's at 54 days here, so less than a week since the last episode. Filmed (the Josie segment specifically) around February 2nd. It's nice that they allow a couple of the kids to ride with the production assistant when he goes to film some stuff at the regular house. It's also nice that the younger ones write letters to those who are in the other location.
I don't know how I feel about Josh teaching Joseph to drive. Interesting angle by having him learn all about insurance first. I had to learn about checking oil and changing tires first, LoL.
Anna was really quiet this episode. We haven't seen Cousin Amy much, either. Anna had Joseph and Josiah take down Christmas lights, so I assume this is actually earlier than Feb 2nd in that part of the episode.
And, Hannah, I also wondered about Josh's teeth.

kelly said...

.... that episode was probably the most boring to date. I really was annoyed that I made time to watch it.

I think it's because I find NONE of the Duggar men to be remotely interesting whatsoever. Maybe Jim Bob sometimes. It's mostly the girls and women/young children that make the episodes interesting.

okiegirl said...

How did Joseph get to be in the Little Rock house? He must've come back with the girls after they went to Springdale on the last episode.

Joseph is turning into a cutie! I hope he doesn't get a big Show Biz ego like his older brother.

Watching the Duggars is better than taking a sleeping pill, especially when Jill is spouting the party line.

Once again, I found nothing "encouraging" in this episode.

Perhaps Anna is waking up to the realization that life with Josh is not all roses. She seems to have aged 10 years since the baby was born.

winsomeone said...

I missed what Michelle said about her breast milk, about there being just a few drops of fat in it? Or was it something else? And she discards the fat, so she has skim milk? What will she discuss next on national TV? Her vagina? How it compares to everyone else after 19 births maybe?

Tammy C said...

Too bad the Duggars won't pay for any of the children to take drivers ed.I wonder how many bad driving habits each have after being taught by Jim Bob and now Josh.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone notice the gender-role switch with Anna doing the car sale and Joseph tending the baby? Loved it.

I've noticed Josh's tooth before too. It's always been like that.

Nicole said...

I think Jinger may really dislike the camera. Whenever she is singled out on camera she is always pulling faces and appears irritated. She also said last week that she hopes she never has to do a live interview like Jill did.

It was Jessa who commented last week about Josh's weight.

I didn't like the beginning segment when JB and M were discussing her going to see Josie and JB staying home because of his cold. The conversation seemed contrived and scripted. They seem to be doing more and more of this. They don't need to do that. It isn't necessary.

pumpkin said...

I cringed when Anna refered to Josh as her "boss" at the car lot. I feel like that sort of set up is bad for any marriage, let alone a brand new one!

ash said...

Ugh, Josh was really annoying in this one! I didn't like how he took a parental, condescending tone about Joseph, "I thought it was really important for him to start by learning about insurance," blah blah. At that age, if I had had an older sibling only a few years older than me lecturing me like that I would've been really irritated. Also, why did he make him weave between cones his first time behind the wheel? I don't think I ever once did that in driver's ed, it's silly. And I felt embarrassed for Joseph that Josh made him try to parallel park in an incredibly tight space his FIRST TIME behind the wheel, on national television. Come on! Parallel parking is something they didn't make us do until the last week of driver's ed, when we'd had a bit more experience. No reason to do it the first time, and even more so when there's a camera crew present.

One other impression... I feel bad for Anna. She's so self-deprecating and not at all confident when it comes to her own abilities. Oh, I don't know if I can sell a car on my own! Thank goodness Josh normally comes in and takes over! What if I do something wrong and get in trouble? (In trouble?! With your husband?!) Isn't Anna the one in the relationship with some sort of college degree? And plus they've both been working in the car lot for about the same length of time. I think she is perfectly capable of doing whatever Josh does. Then when Josh came in, she jumped up out of the chair and he finished, even though she'd already done most of the work. I think he even apologized to the buyer. Both Josh and Anna's behavior in this regard was disturbing to me and indicative of some negative dynamics in the relationship.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone else think the way they were acting at the car lot was unprofessional? It is a BUSINESS. The boys almost hit that customer with a snowball when she came out. If I went to buy a car and the person helping me was trying to fill out my title with a bunch of kids monkeying around - I would have been out of there.

Were they making fun of that 1999 vehicle with 170,000 miles for $5,500 - that seems a bit high! Seems like it should have gone with the clunkers program.

And who just eats bacon for breakfast - it is sort of funny but not! Are the boys too lazy to go to the store? They could have at least called the camera crew like they did with the diapers.

I like how they showed Josh talking to a customer at around 9 in the am -so he can suddenly get up and going now?

My older brother taught me to drive. I don't think it is unusual for Josh to help Joseph with his driving. It was a lot more fun for me to learn to drive with my brother than with my parents.

Celestie said...

I enjoyed the everyday tasks of the family. Thought it was interesting the boys stayed in the family home, while last week the girls had to stay with Josh.

Driver learner, (sorry, can't keep any of these kids names straight) seems rather quiet, wonder what he is thinking? I see nothing wrong with brother teaching him to drive, but had to laugh at Josh saying, he had been living in big city, so hadn't learned to drive. Wonder how he thinks we all manage.

Cats: 15 cats over a period of 19 years. Someone is not taking care of their cats. Cats if well vetted, fed and sheltered can live easily to teens and 20s.

No one concerned about the dog, who was scared. Kid who picked up dog poo, had not changed a baby diaper. Old poo does not compare to diaper poo from a kid who lives on a high carb, high fat diet.

Lastly, if I were to go into a establishment to purchase a car, I would run the other way finding, the Clampetts running the place: babies, lounging kids, scared acting young woman. Everything except banjo music.
Josie looks better. Hopefully she is thriving.

Anonymous said...

Loved thie episode. Very upbeat and light. So glad baby Josie is doing good. Also like the fact that Anna and Josh can work side by side at the car lot and take their baby with them..So many times when both parents work, the child is shuffeled to a sitter for 8-10 hours a day. Not that I am saying there is anything wrong with both parents working, I just find it nice that they can take her with them to their job.

Did I hear Anna correctly when she said that she enjoys being at the car lot because "Josh is my boss"?

It is interesting that the Duggar girls all had braces and I don't remember the Duggar boys ever having braces. Of course that's not unusual, I think statistically more girls get them than boys, but interesting just the same.

Yeah, I noticed Josh's tooth too. He must have knocked it loose or something.

Did you hear Anna say Josh is her boss? gagggggggggggggggg!

I agree with the poster who said they would have been turned off by having kids and babies and everything but the banjo music playing at the car lot.

Can you say "unprofessional" boys and girls?

The yellow VW bug that Josh drove to the insurance agent's office looks exactly like the yellow VW bug the Duggar children and Cousin Amy "trashed" after the JimBob/Michelle vow renewal ceremony.

I wonder whose car it really is ?

"Kid who picked up dog poo, had not changed a baby diaper. Old poo does not compare to diaper poo from a kid who lives on a high carb, high fat diet."

Well, that may or may not be true. I have changed many, many diapers and find dog/cat poo WAY more disgusting. I almost gagged just watching him clean it up on TV.

mamaofeight(not nearly anymore, baby here!)

babysteps said...

Only Jill has had braces and she's had them forever!

Josh stupidly teaching Joseph to drive opens the door and says "This is a car." Joseph sarcastically say, "Really, it's a car?" LOL

I hope Josh doesn't think he can get into politics like his dad. JB didn't have the smarts for it and Josh is even dumber.

I hope Josiah keeps his spark. For some reason John, Joseph, even Jer and Jed seem very slow, dull and quiet. I know JB had a problem with shyness which they may have inherited but Josiah's spark needs to be nurtured.

Anonymous said...

They went to Nationwide because it is a sponsor of the show, not because Josh honestly thought the younger bro needed to learn about insurance. Just as scripted as the convo between JB and M about not giving Josie cold germs.

Anonymous said...

Why feel sorry for Anna? It's not like she didn't know what she was getting into - I mean, she married a Duggar! Hello!!!

I just find it irritating that she's always holding his hand, sitting in his lap, or looking up at him to get his approval before she says anything. They act more like 16 year old kids to me. They seem immature on so many levels, but at least they seem to be happy and love each other, so I'll let them be :)

On a side note, "Mac" is one cute little baby.

I really like the new "style" of episodes they've got going this season. It's just everyday life. That's what I prefer. An occasional trip or visit to the Bates (who I really like) is ok but the constant scheduled "outings" are overdone IMO.

Josh. I think he was attempting to be funny with the "this is a car" comment. Something about him makes it sound like he is talking down to Joseph. And, God bless him, he is trying to behave as an adult.

Anna. I think her appearance has improved since the baby. Her skin is beautiful. Her hairstyle has gotten prettier. She had on a wonderful color for her skin tone even if she did sort of match Makynzie.

Johannah. How sweet is it that she wrote letters and sent candy to her big brother John. That, to me, just shows how close these children are. There is a 15 year difference in their age, but obviouslly they are close.

Car lot. Being in the South, it is not uncommon to find family run businesses. Often times there will be spouses & children helping with the business. Most people don't seem to mind.

Anna did look very nervous making the sale. I bet she didn't want to mess up anything. So what of she called Josh her boss! My hubby tells people all the time that he's my boss cause I'm a SAHM. I always reply that I need a raise due to how insufferable my boss is.

And I agree that Jinger acts as if she is praying they don't ask her anything on camera. I would bet that the family is aware of the "Save Jinger" sites. How unfortunate that
these sites chose to single her out.

Props to Michelle for talking about breastfeeding and to the editors for using the footage. IMO, breastfeeding isn't talked about enough in our society. And yes, each woman's milk is different. Michelle's has very little fat in it which may account for why she seems to always be feeding her babies. The fat is what gives that full and satisfied feeling. Less fat equals hungry sooner.

Grow little Josie, grow!

This episode answered some of the questions that some posters seem to always have. The doctor or nurse stated that Josie was a little behind on her growth curve which means the Duggars are aware of her size.

The pop up said the Duggars have had 15 cats over the years. There is no indication that the cats died. Cats may have ran away or may have had to be given away over time.

I think Joseph is one handsome young man. He seems so genuine and compassionate. I loved seeing him being so hands on with his niece McKynzie. I think he will be a good dad when he becomes one. Also this episode showed the boys doing activites that some complain they never do (cooking, packing their own clothes, nurturing the baby). I saw nothing wrong with Josh teaching Joseph to drive. Lots of older siblings teach their younger ones to drive. This is not unusual. Especially since JB is busy.Besides this is the only time we've seen Josh help. I am sure JB does most of the training otherwise. Yes Josh was being slightly weird and the Nationwide Insurance thing was obviously a plug since the commerical had just showed them as a sponser. But my real questions is can Anna drive? I have never seen her behind the wheel nor has it even been mentioned. She seems to rely on Josh taking her back and forth. I thought they would say something on this episode but they didn't. I would not be surprised noe would I think it strange because lots of people don't drive. Or don't drive until later since Anna is still only 20.

I have not commented as much this season because it seems that so many posters are only recognizing the negative and that IMO is just not fair.

It does seem like Jill's had her braces on forever. I believe Jana had them when she was a young teenager also.

And plus they've both been working in the car lot for about the same length of time.

*************************************
Josh has been running the car lot since he graduated HS (how they wrote the contracts till he was 18 I don't have a clue) he is 21 now that would be 5 years. Anna has been working in the car lot since they got married less than 2 years ago.

Josh owns/owned the car lot in his name (now he might have added her name to the business but I doubt it) that would make Josh the boss/owner. Saying it or not saying it doesn't change the facts. Not saying it would have just kept us from harping on it.

Cyn said...

Josh is only following in his fathers footsteps. When JimBob ran his car lot they LIVED at the car lot so all of the older kids were there when JimBob and Michelle were selling cars.

Michelle also took her younger kids with her when they were running the convenient store.

What I can't understand is when people start saying the girls will be expected to stay home and care for the kids they will be expected to have... In the Duggar home the mother worked beside the husband in the early years to build the finical stability of the family. The Duggar girls will be expected to do the same.

I wonder when TLC and the Duggars are going to own up to the fact that Josie has serious health problems.
Are we going to see her "reality tv" ? Everyday life with a child with chronic health problems? Is that fair to Josie ? The Duggars are already tanking and each episode more and more boring. Hopefully the end of this weekly sham is near.

Anonymous said...

I think Jana has had braces too.

The reason we are seeing the episodes with just them being themselves this season is because of Josie being in the NICU. She wasn't suppose to be born until this month so that probably threw a wrench into the whole scheduling and all the field trips have probably been put on hold. If Josie had not been born early I don't think these are the episodes we would be seeing.

There is no way I would buy a car from that lot. It is so unprofessional and the prices seems to inflated. The car with the high miles they showed was way over priced. Too bad we don't know the specs so we could get a blue book value on it.

The dog poop thing was stupid, they do have a dog or 2, at their home?, they should be used to cleaning that. Or maybe they don't clean it. And comparing it to diapers, I rather clean dog poop. I changed my mother diapers for a year, before she passed, human waste is worse(I gagged a lot), than dog poop. Dog poop dries(no smell) and is like picking up rocks. It was nice that Anna was helping at the car lot, but, I really think she should be more at home, than being with Josh 24/7. She probably could use a break from Josh. Cause he is just beyond words. Yes, the boys are too lazy to go buy the things they need for a good meal. But, don't they have a well stocked pantry? Did not Josh say that the boys were pretty much living at his house?(free breakfast, meals etc?) that is probably why Josh made the homeless comment.( he likes it without so many people around). And the breast milk thing, come on Michelle, no body wants to hear about that. I'm glad that Josie is doing a lot better, but as the Doctor pointed out she needs to gain a lot more weight, than she has. I also think the activities the boys were doing was staged. They don't do that on a regular basis, some of that is girl stuff.JMO

Michelle was not telling us about the content of her breast milk, she was telling Josie's doctor. She probably didn't think to mention it until he told her they needed to supplement because Josie was behind in weight gain.

As for Josie having major health problems, the Doctor stated that other than the very early bowel perforation she had had no real problems. At the last videotaping Michelle did on March 16 she was 3# 11 oz so she quite easily could have passed that 4 # mark by now nine days later. That episode was filmed at 54 days and she certainly looked active. On April 6 the episode description says that Mmichelle and Jim Bob are sick so Jana and Jill get to visit and hld the baby. We will probably get to see her a little better again in that episode. I have seen nothing to indicate serious problems and I do have experience as a nursery nurse. She is certainly moving all of her limbs well and has appropriate muscle which would argue against cp at this time. Of course it could be more subtle and show more signs later.

I think I remember an episode where Josh mentioned that sometimes the used cars Anna drives around town die and he comes to get her, which would mean she does drive. I'm not certain though, anyone else remember this?

I also agree that Joseph is sweet and it was so cute to see him smiling at MacKynzie and playing with her. That's the kind of guy girls like, that's for sure.

And the dog poop thing - I would rather change ten toddler diapers than pick up dog poop, dried or not. I will say though, that I have worked in nursing homes and it is true that adult diapers are *difficult* and I would rather pick up ten dog poops than change one of those. ;)

______
I don't think working next to your husband in a car lot is the same as, seeking a skill set you would enjoy, such as, being a nurse, a midwife, or any other pursuit, that the young woman would like to follow.

I have no problem with a woman choosing to work with her husband, my husband and I have done it for years. But I also graduated from college, have travelled the world by myself, and held other jobs, as well as be a SAHM. All this before "I" decided to join him in the business.

If Anna has worked there for 2 years, why wouldn't she know how to fill out the forms to sell a used car. This isn't brain surgery, it is filling out a few forms.

Did anyone notice how long Anna's skirt was? It was dragging on the ground. I noticed this last week, as well.

What?! The doctor said this week she's doing fine. She's a little below the growth chart but Michelle explained why. The doctor said her lungs look fine, she is sucking great on that pacie, she kicks around like a soccer player, I think Josie looks great. They'll have to see about her vision in the future and she may have more of a chance of suffering from asthma but I think Josie's outlook is wonderful.

Where is that baby nurse who posts here? What do you think?

Josh seemed kind of sleepy again this episode. He had that tired voice. I wonder if he needs a check-up. No 22 year old should be that tired all the time unless he's doing you know what all night. LOL He could have a thyroid problem. Please Josh, get a physical.

Swissmiss said...

I do remember Josh saying that sometimes the used car Anna is driving breaks down. Not a very good ad for their cars, is it?

It's been a while since I read the Duggar's book, but at one time the Duggars sold cars from the front of their property and lived in the rear. Jim Bob got held up once. I guess he was tied up, and it took a while before Michelle realized there was a problem - she didn't hear any commotion. Thank heavens no one in the Duggar family was injured.

Katie said...

I thought Josh sounded like he had, or was recovering from, a bad cold. I don't think he sounded sleepy so much as stuffy.

I had a cold this winter that took 4 weeks to finally kick... and then shortly thereafter, I caught another. Oh, the joys of working in a school.

I was glad to see Anna having some more interaction with the middle Duggar kids, so frequently we only see her with either Jana through Jinger or helping with the babies.

Anonymous said...

This was the first episode I'd seen in a while and I enjoyed it. It's very obvious that the Duggar children love each other. It was nice to see that even though there are huge age differences, there is caring and love. I don't believe Josh meant anything bad in his comment about his house being a homeless shelter. In fact it seemed he was bragging a little about being able to help his brothers and sisters and was very proud of it.

I have to say Jim Bob and Michelle have done a good job raising their children. Despite what some may think of their chosen lifestyle, those children are hard working, loving, responsible people.

Josie's long- term outlook is impossible to predict at this point. Things like that are extremely quirky. It is a good sign that she is off the respirator, although she still appears to need some oxygen. Whether she has long-term lung damage is impossible to know without knowing what her x-rays show. At this point on the show anyway she has yet to begin bottle feedings so her suck/swallow reflex is unknown even though she sucks her pacifier she has yet to have to coordinate her suck/swallow and breathe.
We don't know if she has had any bleeding into her brain - a common problem with very young premies causing seizures and cerebral palsy. We don't know how her muscle tome is and won't know a whole lot until she reaches milestones like sitting, crawling and walking. If the problems are subtle you won't see them for a while - if they are more severe they will become apparent sooner. Eyes are another problem as well.
So - as a former NICU nurse all you can do is take it day by day and hope for the best.Bottle feedings will be the next big hurdle I am sure - then weaning her off oxygen and getting her to maintain her temperature in an open crib. All things we take for granted in a full term baby.

Kelly Renee said...

I don’t think Michelle meant to say her breast milk was skim milk but I think she was referring to the fact that when her babies are breast fed they do not gain wt very fast so she thinks it doesn’t have much fat in it. And if her diet is low in fat then the breast milk will be low in fat as well. And boys eating nothing but bacon for breakfast isn’t a stretch for any imagination. Boys just don’t care that much. I have been around boys (sons and brothers and farmhands) all my life and as long as they can eat it, that is what they will eat. I suspect that is why they hang out with Josh and Anna so much. As far as saying Josh looked unprofessional at the car lot because of all the kids there when he was finishing the sale, did you see the customer? I didn’t even know it was a woman until he said thank you ma’am. I think Anna is just very timid and lets Josh run the business even though she would be totally capable of doing the whole job herself. That is why, imo, that she constantly looks to him for direction before she answers a question. But she will come into her own being given time, especially after having a few more children. I think the Duggar girls are much more confident of themselves than Anna. And I don’t think enough credit is given to them. I keep saying if they really weren’t happy in their situation they would leave. Many have done it from other families like the Duggars. And there is no evidence that Josie has serious health problems. The doc said so.

Regarding the Nationwide Insurance plugs and commercials..
My guess is that Nationwide is the Duggars insurance company for Healthcare as well as for cars (and probably home insurance.
If so, they're covering baby Josie's hospital costs (or a good chunk of them).
These costs would be massive.
I'm betting that TLC offered them discounts on the TV Commercial spots as well as frequent plugs on the show itself.
I'm sure nationwide would normally only cover a percentage of baby Josie's total healthcare costs, or at the very least have set limits on the maximum they'll pay out for a given illness or year.

Anonymous said...

I know its annoying that Anna is always looking to Josh before she answers, but I think that poor girl is just nervous with the camera. I wouldn't really know how to act either. I'm sure I would act awkwardly too.

I hate to say it but I really don't think Josh and Anna are a good match at all. I think Anna would actually do better with someone like John David. He seems like a gentler soul than Josh. Anna just seems like a scared bunny sometimes. And I think Josh would enjoy someone a little more outgoing than Anna.

Just my opinion. I think that's the problem with not DATING someone before you marry them! You don't really know who you're getting joined to for the rest of your life... scary

If this is so, then why in the world did she say it with the camera running? Plus, the doctor was aware her milk was not up to par already, that's why he supplemented it I imagine? Maybe she is like a dairy cow, after a certain age, the milk is not so good, and not so much in quantity? Maybe that's why she has had to nurse and /or pump all day long the past few years.

I just recently watched the tape of Josh proposing to Anna, etc and on that tape it was pretty obvious that they had spent some time together before the engagement. They had known each other for four years and each had decided that this was the one for them. They weren't "dating" in the same sense that we think of it but they were getting to know each other somehow. Maybe at some of those retreats, etc they go to. That's how it works in our church even though we don't do the courtship thing. The kids get to know each other at Acedemy (high school), at conferences much like the Little People conferences, at retreats, etc - all places where they would see each other in groups and at activities but not be alone together.

"If this is so, then why in the world did she say it with the camera running? Plus, the doctor was aware her milk was not up to par already, that's why he supplemented it I imagine? Maybe she is like a dairy cow, after a certain age, the milk is not so good, and not so much in quantity? Maybe that's why she has had to nurse and /or pump all day long the past few years."

Preemies are routinely supplemented with extra calories and nutrition, regardless of breastmilk quality or being formula-fed. So no, the doctor wasn't necessarily aware of Michelle's concerns about her breastmilk. I wouldn't expect Michelle to be concerned about whether the camera was running or not when she has important questions for the doctor regarding her precious baby's life. She looked like she wasn't even aware of the camera, and probably figures that if viewers are uncomfortable with it that's their problem. Besides, IMO, breastmilk isn't an inappropriate topic.

And no, a mother's age doesn't affect the quality of her breastmilk. That is primarily dependent on the mother's diet and genetics. The constant pumping is what every nursing mother of a preemie has to do. If Michelle wants to keep up her milk supply without a nursing baby, she will have to be a slave to the pump.

"I hate to say it but I really don't think Josh and Anna are a good match at all. I think Anna would actually do better with someone like John David. He seems like a gentler soul than Josh. Anna just seems like a scared bunny sometimes. And I think Josh would enjoy someone a little more outgoing than Anna."

Actually, I think those two are well-matched. Opposites attract. Josh with someone more outgoing would just end up with them competing with each other. Anna with someone more like her wouldn't provide any balance to her somewhat timid and mild personality.

I love reading the comments on this blog! It's funny that I'll think of something during the show and come here and notice that someone else has already posted it.

I too am worried for Anna, who is she afraid that she'll get in trouble with? I sometimes think that she puts on a helpless act in order to stroke Joshe's ego, and he is loving it. There is no way that any college educated woman would not know how to complete a sales contract.

I think that I might join the Free Jinger Facebook group. She is by far my favorite Dugger. I wonder if they'll get smart to it and try to spin her popularity into something encouraging (hehehe).

REALLY?? She wasn't just making a sale, she was dealing with transfering the title etc. That was not something I was taught in college. It would be learned on the job and if she(or anyone else) hadn't done it before, there would be questions. Now, seeing as she has worked there for a couple years, you would think she would know how to do it, but being college educated or not has nothing to do with it.

I noticed that when they were doing the car sale they did all the contracts, title, etc by hand. Every car purchase I've ever done was done at a dealership that printed out pages and pages by computer--meaning the computer did all the work for the sales guy.

I can see where Anna would be nervous. And I believe when she was worrying about whether or not something was signed right she'd be "in trouble" it wasn't with Josh, it would be with the DMV and/or the State of Arkansas, since their business would be held liable for any mistakes made in the handling of the paperwork. So yes, her first car sale would call for some nerves, especially since Josh wasn't there to walk her through it, and since she had cameras in her face. We tend to forget that she wasn't raised with cameras in her face.

I think Anna is going a pretty good job of becoming one of the Duggar on-camera team. Considering we've seen where she came from and the family she grew up with, she obviously had a similar home-schooled background, and was sheltered---she's done much better in front of the cameras than she could have done--she could have just froze.

Knowing Josh's personality, it's not surprising that Anna hasn't really learned how to sell a car on her own. He's a take-charge kind of guy and seems to do all the paperwork when he's in the office. Although it would have served him well to at least teach her how to do it for just such an occassion when he wasn't in the shop and she'd need to sell a car on her own.

As for having a college education and doing paperwork for a car sale--I too have more than one college degree and wouldn't know how to process car paperwork. That's something you are trained to do on the job--in the specific state you're working in, as every state has different DMV rules.

Breast milk varies widely from woman to woman, even from children to children in the same family. My sister and I used to joke about her "skim" milk compared to my "whole milk." When she pumped, it was thin, you could almost see through it. Whereas mine, it would actually separate in the fridge with the cream on top. I have no problems with her discussing milk with her doctor - it's better than discussing ovulation times on national tv.
