Think we'll get any questions from people who don't totally fawn over the Duggars? I doubt it.

It'll be another slew of "Michelle, how do you do it?" and "How do you plan travel?" "How much does it cost to feed your family for a week?" crap.

Nothing about why their kids aren't courting, or why Josh hasn't really left the fold, but is renting property from his father and grandmother. Or what happened to his first lot? He SAID the second lot was the "hub" implying more than one lot, but someone drove by last week and the original lot was closed.

Why Josh? We saw how fast they can edit episodes. Put this one in there, Sean. We know you read here! :)

I think the Q and A will be painfully the same as all of the others. There will be no difficult questions answered and maybe we will get a few jabs at internet comments. I'm sure the family knows what others say about them (good and bad). I think that they will just stick to their usual tactics.

Does anyone remember the title of the episode where the Duggars visited the TLC editors in NC? I've looked over the episode list and can't seem to find it. I'm curious to watch that one again if it's online for obvious reasons.

I agree...Q & A's always seem well scripted to me (i.e. Kate G.), and if anything, is used to the advantage of the show's stars-to "clear up" any rumors going around, or fire back at the critics justifying whatever is the hot button at the time (horses, flip-flops, injuries...)

Yes, I'm sure the Duggars will, as always, stay completely on SCRIPT. Their brand relies upon these rote platitudes.

My question would have to be "why were you wearing flip flops at a construction site?"

Or "Why does 21-yr-old John David still have to share a room with his little brothers? He's a grown man."

Or "Why do you insist on telling people that Josie's just not feeling well when she's seriously ill?"

The list goes on.

The Duggars met a TLC editor in Nashville, not NC. They went to their very first pro hockey game with him. I think it was around the time they visited Dolly Parton and went to the Biltmore, which is probably the confusion with going to NC.

I can't remember the guy's name, but I don't think it was the TLC editor who worked on the Duggars' and Gosselin's shows who was busted in that child porn ring.

Josh had to move to his new car lot because he was renting the old one, and his lease was up. If I understand correctly, he still has two. The first one, and now the formal taco place (which took the place of the second lot).

The show about where they went to NC was the one the kids filmed themselves. I do not remember the episode name.

ennvee said...

The first lot is rented from Jim Bob and now closed, according to someone who drove by it a week ago; it's deserted. That leaves just the Tico Taco car lot. If Jim Bob didn't own THIS property as well as the first one (probably being set up for Joseph to use now, I bet), I'd say Josh was trying to actually "leave and cleave." Sorry Duggars, past performance is a great predictor for future results, because they have absolutely no capacity to change due to their chosen path of isolation from most of the world around them, or as the Gothardites call those of us who aren't in the fold: "wolves."

Complete change of subject, but we had a Duggar sighting Thursday. Selling lemonade for charity, but good lord, an autographed book as a prize? It's not like they're scarce or anything...Jim Bob gave plenty away during the Habitat for Humanity episode. Sheesh.

Facebook page for the event:

Pictures. Please note Joy's expression. She says it all:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150352528911561.351112.30769036560&type=3

Also note the mic boom. This is actually being filmed for a future show. Dear Sean, do us a favor and give it a rest. We know the Duggars are now invited guests to these things to help promote the organizations; a nice quid pro quo making the Duggars look far more charitable than they really are. Enough already. Thanks!

It was me that drove by Car Lot #1 and saw that it was vacant. I took a photo with my cell phone. I would be happy to post it if someone would tell me how to get it from my phone to the blog. I don't know if that's possible.

The "Taco Lot" is on the main road through Springdale, that one is hard to miss. The first lot is about 2 miles away on a side street near a Braum's ice-cream shop (which might explain Josh's waistline).

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Is that Josie in the brown leggings and polo shirt in the lemonade pictures? If so, Michelle, you are falling down on your job of making sure people know Josie is a girl because she sure does remind me of Shiloh Pitt and her "Montenegro style" (aka girls dressing as boys). What's with the newsboy cap?

And I thought these people aren't plugged into pop culture. Really? Then why is one of the younger boys rocking a Justin Bieber hairdo in those pics?

=====================================

I'm confused. Do you mean that the lot by the ice cream store is still operating, or did he move all that inventory to Tico Taco (I recall a big move between a couple of lots, maybe he had inventory on Tico Taco and was told to move it?).

So, I guess the question is, how many lots are still open? Just the Taco Lot, or the Ice Cream lot, too?

Jenny O said...

t good lord, an autographed book as a prize?
======================

Makes perfect sense. I'm sure JimBob got a whole slew of these books for free from the publisher. So it doesn't cost him a thing to give them away, plus does the double duty of promoting the Duggars. Win/win according to penny pincher JimBob.

At least it wasn't as egregious as giving one to a family whose entire home had been devastated by a storm. "Here, take comfort from this book about me and my fame-seeking family."

As to Josh's second (and only) car lot, the former Tico Taco stand: I am almost 100% certain that JimBob owns that property, and Josh leases from him. That's how JimBob can retain control over his grown, married-with-children son. Leave and cleave my fanny.

I hope that Josh is at least tucking away a big portion of the TLC money he and Anna receive, so that perhaps one day he might actually be a self-sufficient adult and not have to rely on his father financially. That day is not even close on the horizon yet.

It's very curious how Gothard followers talk about how important it is for their sons to develop their own business and income, so that they may begin their own families. However, when they do so much to hobble them in that regard, as to make it nigh impossible.

Website for Champion.

Then they opened Integrity in 2011. It was on an episode I think.
http://duggarcars.com/

Then they had to move one of them to the former Taco stand. Champion I think was the one they moved.

Integrity goes to duggarcars.com showing two locations.

ennvee said...

The Champion website hasn't been updated in over a year. It also says they are awaiting the permits (for the Taco location, obviously) and will be moving there.

I am aware that Jim Bob owns the Taco Lot and is renting it to Josh. Jim Bob is listed as the land owner on county records and stood up as the owner/representative (rather than a lawyer) on the episode when they went in front of the zoning commission. From what was stated on Champion's (pretty much defunct) website, I'm going to now assume they only have the one lot in operation until someone clears this up once and for all. :)

If it turns out that they only have the one lot, calling the Taco Lot the "hub" of his little empire is misleading at best or a flat out lie at worst. Or it could be a SOTDRT error. Josh might not even know the meaning of the word "hub" to begin with. Josh has always tried to appear to be far more intelligent than he really is and instead comes off as a know-it-all, smug jerk.

PS: I really don't need God to richly bless me as I peruse duggarcars.com's inventory. Or Allah or Buddah or any other deity. It's a car lot, not a religious bookstore! Sorry, it's a pet peeve I had to get off my chest. And in Josh's case, it just makes him appear holier-than-thou. It's not going to make his overpriced, high-mileage inventory of clunkers appear any better.

pumpkin said...

The Champion lot is the one near the Braum's Ice Cream shop and it is now closed. The Taco Lot (Integrity Auto Park) is on the main road through town.

The Duggars are supposedly going to be on the Today show Tuesday the 8th. Hmm, why? To get people to watch the season finale? Seems like a little too late for building an audience.

Or maaaaaaaybe....there will be an announcement. Is it Michelle or is it Anna? (After all they are way past the 80 days after Michael's birth.)

librarylady said...

"What's with the newsboy cap?"

******************************

Well, if you look at certain angles, it's the knit crocheted-type of cap that is popular (no brim) and you'll see that ... yes, there had to be one! ... a large pom pom on the side of it. They just can't get away from the poofy headgear even on a cap.

ennvee said...

Pumpkin, is there another lot somewhere? Or was the move they made on the show from Champion to Integrity (the Taco Lot)?

I'm just trying to confirm how many lot(s) Josh has open at this point because their pretzel logic about these lots (and everything else) has definitely tied me in knots because I don't know the area at all.

It seems Jim Bob owns all the real estate. I guess any his parents possessed are now under his control. Just a thought. If he gave his children what they deserved being a part of the circus they call a show, they might be in a better position financially. They would be able to get a start, instead of "renting" from him.

It was frustrating to see him hug the lady who lost so much and talk about "their" show. These "give back" shows are just for him to showcase his family to build on their profile. I really doubt he gives two pins about anyone else. He never fails to remind everyone about the help given to the Bates family.

He is some puppet master. You want to get near his daughters, you speak to him first. He and Michelle talk about how well they have taught their children, but then refuse to let them exercise any independence at all.

I read they will be on the today show on Nov 8th.

Considering that Josh and Anna have been gone so much in order to make money filming with TLC, I find it hard to believe Josh is actually managing two functioning used car lots. I don't see how he can keep up with even one. My guess is that his original lot will be turned into another sort of business location for one of the adult boys; and the Taco location will be the used car lot for Josh to run/manage. (But I am thinking more and more that even that job is basically done by a non-Duggar most of the time, with Josh pretending to be the main manager).

If I were Anna and had married into this circus, I think I'd be feeling rather unhappy at this juncture. I would not care to have my husband be under my FIL's beck and call; and I most certainly would not be happy having to schlep my two little children hither and yon all the time. Routine is so important for little ones.

This is kind of funny, but it's getting worse. Since the c-a-r l-o-t discussion began, the blog has been getting spam ads related to previously owned motorized items. I hope none slip through but we might want to use "duggarcars" instead some of the more common names. :)

In a web clip both of the cars Josh brought had bad transmission.Doesn`t that cost a lot to fix?

I also wonder if the one lady who waited for Josh to come back(Since, Anna couldn`t sell it right) was staged.

I just don`t see it giving them much of an income.

Michelle, you are falling down on your job of making sure people know Josie is a girl because she sure does remind me of Shiloh Pitt and her "Montenegro style" (aka girls dressing as boys). What's with the newsboy cap?

I don't know. You'd almost thing there was a blog where people lash out at the Duggars for their rigid, gender specific way of dressing their children and the Duggar family is trying to lighten up a little bit while the children are younger. I've notice sometimes Mackynzie is also in non-gender specific clothing.

Kitten said...

Actually, car dealers love cars with bad trannys, because most of the cost of fixing them is labor. You have to dismantle the transmission to get at the parts, which takes forever. But, if you have someone whose only job is to repair the cars you bring in, all you're out are the costs of the parts, which surprisingly are rarely expensive.

I've noticed that Anna will dress Mackenzie in jeans and/or pants at times. Anna (and Josh) seem to be a bit more relaxed regarding what little girls can wear - but then again, Anna also seems more fashion forward than her sisters-in-law in most every respect.

As to the recent picture of Josie at the lemonade stand. I read elsewhere that another shot showed that the little knit cap she had on was sporting a big pom pom on the side. And not to be mean, but that little girl looks like a little Duggar boy - she reminds me very strongly of Jackson in her features. I hope with filming at an end for the season, she finally can regain some of the routine that little children need to feel secure (and stay healthy!).

When Michelle announced on the Today Show they were expecting a baby in April, I did the math and realized she was waiting until she was out of the "miscarriage zone" before making an announcement. If she was on the same medication Kelly Bates is on, she wouldn't have to worry about miscarrying.

londonbridges said...

Michelle may be on the same medication as Ms. Bates. I have a sneaking suspicion there are some issues regarding this conception, timing, etc. that are not for public knowledge. JMO.

I was thinking about the whole fake reality thing with the Kardashians and how they are famous for basically nothing, and it occurs to me that the Duggars are in the same boat...being famous for nothing.

Please don't say they are famous for being ministers of their faith because there are thousands of people out there doing much, much more than the Duggars for their faith(s), and their faces don't show up on TLC every Tuesday night and occasional mornings on the Today show.

They are no better than the Kardashians.

Seriously? said...

"They are no better than the Kardashians."

The Duggar brand, 'living our faith' is no more meaningful than the Kardashian brand of 'living our fashion'.

Both families are equally scripted, equally vapid, equally marketed and sold.

The Duggars wear babies like the Kardashians wear those tacky chandelier earrings. In 'reality' world babies and earrings are both just props.

Did anyone else notice that the clip of Michelle recording her injured son was cut out? Also on the commercial for the world tour Jim Bob says that the Scottish people are "fun loving".It seems like I remember him saying this before about someone but I don't remember who.

Was it? I wouldn't be surprised. There was alot of outrage over that. They cut footage that causes controversy like the poor looking Bates' horses.

I haven't watched in a while, but I watched this episode after finding out that they were going to make the baby announcement. Watching the show, plus one or two other episodes, I've noticed a few things:

The older girls (including JoyAnna) seemed like their excitement was so forced.

Josie just gets thrown around now. After she made the announcement, one of the younger boys (I couldn't tell which one) was jumping up and down, which in effect bounced her up and down rather roughly. It made me cringe.

Jinger and JoyAnna, the girls who I always thought were more "spunky," seem to have a lot of the life sucked out of them recently, especially JoyAnna. She went from this outgoing, tomboyish girl who laughed and smiled a lot, to a sad, sulky girl who only appears to smile when she realizes the camera is on her, and not even then all of the time. I'm a teenage girl, and she just seems so much more down than your average teenager going through the awkward braces and changes that come with being a teen, especially when you look at the more recent pictures on their website. I hope someone notices her change in behavior, but I doubt they will.

On an unrelated but still Duggar note, there is a picture of Jill and Jana wearing fire pants on the website (http://duggarfamily.com/content/photos?&albumid=5622636312996430465)

He didn't perform,he had to get dressed but was allowed to sit in a wheelchair offstage,if I recall correctly.
That said,I thought someone should have accompanied him back home, where he could recover in peace.Couldn't G-ma have done that? Those poor kids need some real mothering during a time like that.Instead,we saw pics of him laid out on the bus, obviously miserable, with all the noise and the riot of cameras and visitors aboard. And Josie chewing on his leg.Just really, really sad.

In comments on another board, a poster gave some facts from the June 2011 issue of "Fertility and Sterility": a 44 year old woman has a 1.6% chance of becoming pregnant using her own eggs. She also has a 54% chance of miscarriage.

Dr. James Goldfarb claims that in his 30 years of being a fertility expert, he has never seen a woman older than 45 become pregnant using her own eggs or without hormone supplements and therapy. (Now does this mean it never happens outside a fertility clinic? Of course not. But the fact that it has taken almost 2 years for this next pregnancy sure points to hormone therapy to me. JimBob would be way too outraged to use anyone's but Michelle's eggs.)

___________________________________

I too seriously doubt that Jim Bob and Michelle used donor eggs for this pregnancy but I think it is highly likely she used hormone therapy to become pregnant and is using it to sustain the pregnancy. Kelly Bates did as well. The use of medical intervention to perform "God's will' is more twisted logic on the Duggars part.

Kitten said...

Boy, he must not get out much. My MIL had her fifth child at 48, when her youngest was 10. She thought the first 3 months was "the change" until she couldn't shake the "stomach flu" she was experiencing. LOL...def no medical interventions...and a completely normal pregnancy and healthy baby.

Kitten said...

I really believe Michelle and Jim Bob would have continued having children even if TLC hadn't offered them a show.

I believe this, too, but I also believe their "efforts" wouldn't have been quite so enthusiastic. :> But who knows? They might have still had 19+ kids. One thing's for sure; they wouldn't be living in that nice house. When TLC came along, they had just the frame up, after what? five years of working on it? Without TLC intervention, that house would have remained an unfulfilled pipedream for at least another 5-10 years.

Sharla said...

Regarding the fertility info and the quote from Dr. Goldfarb, he's probably talking women who are seeing an infertility specialist. It is highly unusual I've heard to conceive through IVF with one's own eggs at or after 45. There are women who have conceived naturally past 45 but we do not need a recital of anecdotal stores, please. Most of us have probably heard of one. Thanks.

re: the Duggar son's recent injury and then having to get up, get dressed up, and hobble in to make a command performance in front of the church group:

How many kids, especially boys that age, would feel comfortable a) having their family act like hungry tabloid hounds, photographing his accident to make sure the drama was captured on camera(s), and b) have an entire tv audience privy to his crying in fear and pain?

It's sad to see ANY parents make their children's wellbeing and comfort take a way-back seat to parental desire to exploit any and all family drama for ratings.

One more example of why the Duggars are not my cup of tea.

londonbridges said...

I agree with Seriously?said about Jason's injury. This family did record the event and IMO did profit from showing it.

I think Jason should not have had to appear (even in a back room) at all. He should have been in a quiet place with an adult, far from the Duggar event. To put an injured blessing on a crowded, noisy bus after spending time in the E.R. is just beyond my comprehension.

The ability to procreate does not ensure good parenting abilities at all. JMO.

So many ways that Michelle isn't a role model for me. She doesn't parent, her kids are uneducated, they are undisciplined. Really, they are a lot like the Kardashians and other reality families. I can't watch anymore because it breaks my heart to see those kids and Queen Michelle do no parenting. Why are people so blind?

I don't feel sorry for Anna one bit if she and Josh follow in their parents' footsteps. Anna knew she was marrying into Duggar Royalty and I'm sure while we're all talking about how sad we are for her and how horrible her life must be, I'm nearly certain she's laughing it up. It looks to me like that young lady loves her life and the man that she married. I'm sure she loves being on TV, and she has come out of her shell a whole lot since the beginning. I personally think their little family is cute, but I hope she doesn't think it's going to be easy when she has that house full of kids that she seems to so desperately want. I think with her being so young, she really doesn't have a clue of what lies ahead for her should she go that route. I know she and Josh think they know everything there is to know about marriage and life, but they've got some serious growing to do and plenty of tests ahead, as do all couples and families.

sandi said...

If you ask me, I think Josh is setting himself up for an early midlife crisis.I'm not saying he would divorce or cheat on Anna, but it can take other forms, such as excuses to not be home as much,etc..things like that.
I agree they really don't have a clue, and it will be interesting to see them after being maried for 20+yrs.Of course they can do the fake kissing for the cameras and all,but I wonder if their ideals and values and life lessons will have an impact on them then.JMO.

I totally agree with other's comments about Anna. She's loving it!! Josh is gross to 99% of the female population but apparently Anna doesn't mind him or tolerates him because it means she gets to become her own version of Michelle. I also agree, Josh is a slim and he'll be trolling the internet looking at porn in just a few short years if he's not doing that already!!! Mid-life crisis at 30 for sure.

To both TLC and the Duggars:

In lieu of all of the issues now coming to light in the eyes of the viewing public, the gig is up. An encouraging Christian family? They can't even fake that brand anymore. It's a shame, because the world could use good, healthy Christian values.

I understand wanting to do right by your children, but not at the expense of leading them blindly into a way of life that is so clearly detrimental to their wellbeing, nor selling them for the "almighty" dollar. Us "wolves" may have our own issues, but we don't sell out our children, ignorantly put them in harm's way, nor squash their intellect in order to keep them from learning about the world. If that's what a parent must do to be a part of your beliefs, then I'm thankful that God allows me to be a "wolf".

Furthermore, how can anyone take a religion seriously that inhibits healthy teenage relationships, forbids sisters to wears knee-baring clothing because their brothers may find it sexual, forces "side hugs" even among same gendered individuals for the same reason, forbids music because the black piano keys are "carnal", and forces a great deal of time focused of sex, then at the same time preaches that having an unhealthy amount of children raises you up in the eyes of the Lord? Talk about mixed messages!

DuggarGoth said...

I have heard it said that the Gothard beliefs say that the black keys on a piano are "carnal" but if that's the case then why do the duggars have a piano (perhaps even more than one) in their home? I also noticed on the Q & A episode they say that they only listen to christian music/hymns classical music etc, but it seems like they dig bluegrass music as well (Bates influence there I guess)

I have read at several places, where it tells of Michelle's "break down" in her first book. Don't have the book, so wonder if anyone can tell me what sort of break down they are talking about, and how many children she had at that time? Did she start passing off her babies to the older girls at that time, or did that happen before then?

Just Me said...

Winsomeone, I also would like to know about that. I remember Michelle talking in one of the specials about how one of the older girls, I believe it was Jill, gave her a really hard time behavior-wise when she was little. I often wondered how she handled that, especially since she and Jim Bob have always been reticent to discuss their discipline methods in the early days and have only hinted that they weren't as quiet/controlled as now.

hart&sole said...

As I recall, but I could be wrong, it was Jessa who was the willful child.

How can anyone be surprised at Jim Bob's character if they have watched the show for any length of time? There was an episode when the family went to some place where gems are found. The conversation went to a discussion of what each would do if they found a gem that was worth a great deal of money. Guess what Jim Bob would have done? He would have bought more commercial property. I suppose I should give him some extra points for honesty, but really, he couldn't find anything more Christian to do with his imaginary gem money?

stephanie said...

Regarding Michelle never [holding] a child I totally agree. However, as a big critic myself I will be fair. I have their show on early in the AM during the week and in these old episodes when they pray, or have a family meeting, or even during a quick on the spot interview, Jimbob DOES hold the little girls a lot. When I think about it his interaction with the big girls I find very normal father\daughter (teaching them to drive etc). Why does Michelle need to take someone with her when she takes a little kid to doctor? Must be nice. Isn't JoyAnna and Johannah the same name? As Josie and Josiah is the same? (OT removed)

stephanie said...

When the Duggars were the special guest(s) of a minor league baseball team a few years ago, Jimbob was explaining the rules of baseball with his teenage and older sons. I did find this very sad. They have never given a reason why their boys (at the very least) have never played a game of baseball or even a church softball game. No soccor, football, nothing but broomball. What is that really about?

roddma said...

"Don't have the book, so wonder if anyone can tell me what sort of break down they are talking about, and how many children she had at that time?" The story of the 'breakdown' is told on their website too. It refers to back when they had seven kids and Michelle was up at 1 am doing laundry. She had tears streaming on her cheeks and prayed. Thats when the lady they call Nana came to help them do the laundry. I guess Jim Bob was fast asleep.

I wonder if whatever method of discipline they used with Jill and the older girls (Jana, Jessa, Jinger to an extent) has to do with their complaisant natures. Curious if they were "scared straight" in any sort of way.
