I thought Jim was planning the surprise, no?

OPL said...

Maybe Jim planned for the pastor to announce it at his church?

Why is this such a big deal? Its going to be a boy or a girl. In another year they will do the same thing with all the build up, with Anna and her pregnancy tests am I or am i not preggers..borrrrrrring. Same stuff different year. Done

Nancy said...

So, did the entire congregation of Restoration Church have to sign non-disclosure forms so as not to leak the secret before the formal Today Show announcement on April 1?

I am still dubious that it's a boy; the Duggars are known for their lame practical jokes and they made the announcement on April Fool's Day.

I also wonder when that was actually taped; I think the gender appointment was at 18 weeks, but they didn't formally announce until she was about 32 weeks. I have a feeling they knew long before April 1st, but had to to hold off because they used that to pimp the new season on the Today Show.

I'm with harleigh: YAWN.

Seriously, who cares?? It's not like it's a big deal. It's not like they pay any attention to any of them as individual children at all. Just anonymous warm bodies to fill some insane quiver (and fill their bank accounts). In fact, the only time the baby gets any attention at all is when it's in utero.

Jillian Kay said...

I think I have to disagree. I get the impression that Anna spends a lot of time with Mackynzie and Michael. The majority of the time, she is looking after them.

Since the season is over, looks like Anna's delivery won't be featured.

Season Fanille, Already?

Josh spraying the junk on his head just like his dad.

hannah said...

The race looked like fun. The way the are so into completion makes me sad. I think Josh should of been the winner.

watchdog said...

Great! Mac will have two little brothers to serve and take care of now.

They were scraping the barrel to come up with those two episodes tonight.

Josh certainly is "showething" those pasty thighs a lot this season.

If they don't watch TV how did Jim Bob know about the 'thrill of victory and the agony of defeat"

Ty's Mom said...

Jim Bob did not seem very happy when Josh said he was moving. All he said was "wow". No congratulations or I'm proud of you. Nothing.

But I wonder how Josh's new job is actually going or if he is even still there since his recent instagram pics have been taken in Fayetteville- and they were from the storms that were happening last night, so he's in town. Don't know of many "real" jobs that will let you take time off so soon after starting... Unless of course, he's waiting to start until after they have the baby because moving to DC puts a kink in their midwife/birthing center in Ft Smith plans.

Allison said...

At the end of the episode they said they would be moving "within a couple months." It could be that FRC allowed Josh to start after the birth of the baby to keep the delivery plan the same. Hiring processes can take some time, and we have no idea when this episode was filmed. With Anna so big, it's reasonable that it was just last month. A "couple months" fits a mid-June move after the baby is born. I don't think they are vacation. I don't think they have moved yet.

Also remember that Congress takes a Summer Recess. They'll probably head out in July (remember, Anna is now just over two weeks from her due date, and she was early with Mack and Mike, so she could have M3 anytime).

Josh needs training. A LOT of training, if he's going to supervise the lobbying wing of the FRC, as was reported by RD Chatman (the guy who actually WORKS at the Duggar car lot), but quickly scrubbed. But not quick enough for some eagle-eyed people to catch the Instagram post with all the info before it was yanked.

Were those people awkward with a capital A in that church? Do they not clap in time with the music on purpose? They know rhythm; they have music lessons jammed down their throats. Jed was especially rude; I caught some eyerolling going on amongst the older group of boys. Anna's hands were clamped to her sides. Ironically, it was JOSH who clapped to the music and actually seemed to enjoy it, unlike....everyone else.

That last TH segment with Josh and Anna was just taped a couple of weeks ago. I remember the purple. However, I think they told the family much earlier. Anna kept a kid on her lap so you couldn't tell how far along she was during the "family announcement."

But Josh did reiterate that that they weren't moving until after M3 was born. They're going to need at least 2 sister-moms to help Anna set up house as she wrangles 2 toddlers and a newborn, plus a couple of the mid-sized boys to help Josh put furniture in place and put together any IKEA furniture they have to buy to fill what will have to be at least a 4 BR house with more cribs, beds, etc. A

And a yard. Anna has to have her yard. In the burbs, that's gonna cost a pretty penny; NOVA would probably be more their style, but they may wind up in more liberal Maryland, due to price concerns. No way they have %500k stashed away to buy a house in cash. *eyeroll*

Ah geez, on 11pm rewatch, Anna found out at 23 weeks, long before it was led to believe. They were still in winter clothes. The giveaway is how Josh's blazer still looks bloated from the side view when the announcement is made

Love Michelle's scripted description of the awesome chruch. For such an experienced speaker, she still faltered in the wrong places; even the places she stopped often made no sense, or had any continuity. You could tell she was reading a script overdubbed later.

I've heard her do radio interviews where there is an obvious "rider" (questions that are on or off-limits) and boy, does she spew the script everytime I've heard her in these interviews.

Her face at the end is .gif-worthy.

I was so pleasantly surprised when Josh and Anna announced that they were moving. I thought for sure they would stay.

I think that Anna is a hands-on mother far more of the time than Michelle. Although not a Duggar fan, I think she deserves some credit for caring and nurturing her blessings. However, I feel sorry for blessing #1, with 2 brothers to help care for. If Josh and Anna carry on Michelle's legacy of having the older blessings raise the younger ones, she could be in the same shoes as the elder Duggar blessings. JMHO.

Anna might be hands on mom now, but if she and Josh keep on having kids..i betcha Ye Old Buddy System will carry on. ( Good Luck Josh )

Hate to start the "baby watch" and especially for Michelle, but I swear (and even rewound my DVR) that Michelle looked pregnant when she picked up Josie during the obstacle course! Anyone see the same thing?

Ashley said...

Was that ICE CREAM in the breakfast smoothie? Lol. We make great smoothies with yogurt and fruit. Maybe that should have gone in their weight loss plan.

The Duggars looked very scared when they were in the church. There was a lot of eye rolling when there was singing and dancing going on. I don't understand why this church would allow the Duggars to come to their church for the sole purpose of announcing the gender of Josh and Anna's baby. It doesn't surprise me though, the Duggars are all about self promotion whenever possible.
I do agree with Mindy that Michelle looks like she might be making an announcement of her own in the near future, unless she is looking to make an endorsement deal with a weight loss company.

On last weeks show did anyone catch Jimbob trying to deter Josh and Anna from moving claiming that they have home, free baby sitters and family and friends right there.
Anna's Father was very upbeat and a support for the couple especially Josh for a wonderful opportunity when they told Annas parents. Michelle and Jimbob are quite possessive of the couple aren't they. Jimbob nor Michelle looked very pleased that Josh and Anna were flying the coup.
You can bet your boots Jimboob and Shelly will send a couple of their stepford kids to go live with Josh and Anna and I hope Anna puts her foot down and demands privacy without the crew chaperoning them.

Kind of surprisingly they had 1.402 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.

Okay I'm on board...Michelle baby (counting Caleb and Jubilee) #22 watch 2013. If you go to Duggars Blog, they have the clip of the race and it shows the art being talked about with Michelle holding Josie and kissing JimBob.

Maybe they are nervous about Josh leaving because of the potential stress it may cause Michelle in this new state. I'm of course speculating a whole bunch here.

Thoughts and speculation. I'll be waiting to hear from GMA.

Don't be so sure about Mack having to wait on the two boys.I think she is a spunky little girl and will most likely be bossing them around and shaking her finger at them to get them to do whatever she wants..she's the oldest and it will come naturally to her. (at least that's how it is my house!) LOL,go Mack,I think she's gonna head cheese those boys! :)

On the weigh in part, they only lost 12-14 pounds each in three months? That's not too impressive, especially for Josh, who is a young man. My husband struggles with his weight and whenever he tries to lose (He is 52) once he is careful, it comes off. My bet is they were both cheating tremendously during the three months and they're both going to gain it back by next month.

did Jim not plan the surprise.

Oh my....the cuddle-bug little Michael boy in the morning in his pj sleeper was SO adorable at the beginning of the show. I just wanted to grab him up and hug him. I did enjoy that part of the show!

Yes, everyone loses weight differently. That said if they were seriously trying to be conscience of their goal, they could have essentially lost 2lb per week. That is a pretty conservative and healthy amount to lose in a week. If they were eating healthfully and staying active, they could have each lost roughly 24lbs in this time frame. Again everyone is different so to have lost anything at all is still an improvement from where they were. I do however agree that these people don't take health issues seriously and blame their female counter parts as the problem. Side note...my father at 60 years old was never one to take losing weight as a healthy thing (he did once by eating nothing but sunflower seeds and water for months) He was 250lbs in January last year. That June he weighed in at 194lbs! We were all so proud of him. He had lost it by eating more fruits, vegetables and watching his portions, go figure. He did enjoy cake once in a while at a birthday or two, he enjoyed a beer (not that the duggars do that), and he WALKED! A lot! He walked nearly 7 miles a day. My dad works so it is not as if he has the time for it. He had to make the time. He knew that if he wants to see his grandkids get married, this is what he must do. JimBob Do you want to see these children grow up? If you do, you have to grow up yourself and stop blaming others around you for what you put in your mouth. You were going to dinner and ate dinner before leaving. I doubt that changed after the challenge started and I doubt it will ever change. I thought that gluttony was a mortal sin, do these people not believe in the 7 sins? I'm not up on what fundamentalist/Gothard Christians believe so I could be out of bounds here. I just thought all bible reading people knew about them. Weight loss can be a roller coaster with many plateaus along the way. If one stays the course they can get over those humps. If one never gets on the course, that is a totally different story and obviously can't be helped. If you need help and support outside of family, then find a weight loss group. Im not advertising here but Weight Watchers is a wonderful program with all the support you could want.

I was literally embarrassed watching the Duggar family inside the Restoration church. Wow. Could they have been any more rude and awkward? Yikes. Josh was the only one who seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself.

Judy said...

Again on the weight loss, you can just look at their idea of healthy -- JB showed his "stash" in the "family pantry" and also commented and was on camera eating things like CANNED vegetables, which are loaded in salt, or saying he would have can of soup for lunch, usually loaded with salt. All i all, the family eats cheaply and not particularly healthfully, from what I can see.

Judy said...

I don't know why they get so excited about the gender...they're going to have 15 kids, and there will be plenty of each gender.

I don't know how I missed this but I just re-watched. The Restoration church members worshipped by DANCING!!!! On stage and in the congregation.
1. Yes, Jed has NO sense of tempo.
2. The kids looked totally uncomfortable because they have been told that dancing is evil, and the devils work, to wiggle your bodies and stir up sexual desires. They have been trained to devert their eyes from dancing which Jimbob has said several times how stupid it is.
3. Josh was the only one who acted right
4. Jill said "we expected it to be 'lively'
5. Justin? and one of the girls Jimbon was holding plugged their ears, rude
6. Mac clapped with the music, good for her
7. Michelles dubbed over condescending comments about an african american church were as follows
"Restoration church is a really special place. Pastor Howard has a dynamic and energetic personality and a genuiene love for others. Everyone made us feel so welcome. I think our children were a little surprised of how "peppy" the service was compared to our church, but, the whole family really had a great time."
8. Cut to Josh David looking even more doppy than usual
9. Jills talking head, "fun and everone was sweet sweet
10. Michelle says "they get to experience things as a family and then they get to talk aboit it. Seeing how others worship the lord is a learning experience". WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK THEY TOLD THE KIDS ABOUT DANCING? What did they get out of of dancing for Jesus in worship after they have been told dancing is evil??????
11. Woman on the keyboards channeling Alicia Keys

I wish Comcast would get the last two episodes on On Demand so I can see them.

"I don't know why they get so excited about the gender...they're going to have 15 kids, and there will be plenty of each gender."

I don't know. The Arndt family has 13 boys and one girl! But Josh and Anna do already have one of each so it shouldn't be that big of a deal, either way. She'll just need to know which set of hand-me-downs to have washed and ready. I really hope they don't go with all Ms for the names. I liked the family they had over for dinner whose kids had alphabetical names. That was pretty neat.
