Yes, I heard about the pranks. Josh showed up late. Of course they had to saran wrap the car. Kelli said on the blog they had put something inside it that smelled horrible. I also saw picture of one of the younger Duggar boys running in front of the couple on their way out of the church. Anything for added attention for the Duggars. Pathetic.

Of course the girls were put to work and the boys were allowed to run wild. Just another normal day for the Duggars.

What? Sorry, but if it were my child's wedding, or my own, I wouldn't put up with that nonsense. Isn't church and marriage the most important thing to these people? If so, how could such behavior be justified and tolerated by the parents? The Duggars just don't know how to sit down and shut up.

Anonymous said...

I can't even blame the kids for running around wild, they were essentially raised by their teenage sisters. It is like babies raising babies. This is the same reason they have no table manners either, they were never taught properly by their parents.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous post 3/30: Yes, yes, the Duggar kids have terrible table manners. I thought I was being picky, but they eat with their fingers and really can't sit at a table like human beings. They have to climb on it and everything else, too, like untrained pets.

Tonight there have been too many ads for the new season of the Duggars to count and now they are continually showing the one with JimBob humping Michelle and I swear it's worse than what I originally saw....much longer. They had to know what that looked like to viewers.

Miz Kizzle said...

A wedding seems to equal unlimited opportunity for pranks in the tiny minds of the Duggars. If only the Duggars had been in charge of Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton at. Westminster Cathedral! Think of what zany hijinks would have ensued!

Anonymous said...

Dors anyone have a link to the humping ad?

Allison said...

There is a new clip from the show and the TLC factoid said there was a THOUSAND people at that wedding. What the heck?! How do they know a thousand people? Did they invite their own city or something? Wow...

Rudy Tecat said...

Can't wait for this one! Let's play "Spot the Gothard!" He was there... I wonder if they cut him out entirely?

Allison,

I follow the Bates' blog. Fans were commenting on the blog requesting invitiations (who does that?), and Kelly was responding back with address requests. It's no wonder their were so many people at the wedding; there was basically any open invitation to any fan who wanted to attend.

Jessa was very sassy with Jim Bob in this episode and rightfully so. He will say and do anything for attention and it's becoming quite sickening to watch. I think Jessa is becoming very disengaged and uncomfortable with having her courtship displayed for the world to see. She only looked truly happy when she went to see Erin and Chad's house...i.e. when she wasn't around nosy Jim Bob and his awkward prying questions. I actually hope that Jessa and Ben do get married and hightail it out of Arkansas.

The wedding pranks are getting old, especially the trashing of the car...which was rented to boot! IMO it was beyond childish. Where are they getting the money to buy all the supplies?? Certainly not buying used and saving the difference!

On another note I love the Bates family more and more every time they appear on the show. They seem to be a little more genuine and loving with each other...the scene with Carlin and Erin brought me to tears. Honestly only watched this episode because of them.

Of anything and everything at Erin Bates's wedding the only thing I kept seeing and what bothered me the most was :MICHELLE'S DUGGARS HAIRDO!" Dear god doesn't that woman know how awful she looks. She looks like some type of a animal that has just come out of a very long hibernation.

Leigh Ann said...

They put sardines and mothballs under one of the seats. This is a rental car! I hope they found it and got it out and were able to air it out before they had to return it.

It's no wonder the kids have no table manners. They don't have any sit down meals. They go through the cafeteria line in the kitchen, sit down just long enough to eat and then jump up. They do eat in restaurants and seem to rein it in there.

Anonymous said...

The only thing I can say about Erin's wedding is...what was Michelle Duggar thinking with that hairdo? Kelly looked nice and so did Chad's mom. Michelle looked like some kind of wild animal. I can't imagine how she'll look at her daughter's weddings. Does that woman ever look in the mirror. Perhaps Jim Bob wants her to look like that so no other men will be ogling her!

Okay, what was that little exchange betwween Jessa and JB and Ben on the bus?? That's the closest I've ever seen Jessa come to "mouthing off" at JB.

JB asked Ben if he was "loveesick".

Jessa asked JB, "Do you know what that means?"

And JB asked her, "What does it mean, Jess?"

Then she says, "I don't know, do you??" (sarcasm!)

And JB said, "I don't talk about it in front of the whole world." or something like that!

Um, JB, YOU were the one who asked...

Awkward. And I think a lot of the tension onscreen between Jessa and Ben is because of the cameras. Nothing like being on the spot!

But the exchange with Jessa and JB..... Hmmmmm!! I hope she's not with Ben just because he's the first ticket out of there that passed Daddy's muster...

belle said...

I noticed how cold Jessa is with Ben and my first thought was that she just doesn't love him, but now I think that she just feels really umconfortable in front of the camaras, she needs some privacy. She seems really annoyed by her dad. Jill on the other hand seems to love attention and her "DADDY" to be involved.

Willow said...

Also, did you see the look Jessa shot JB when he asked her what she wanted the whole world to know about her courtship? It was a winner!!

Also, I was watching closely to see if they had cut Bill Gothard out of Erin's wedding scenes and of course they did. In reality, he had a birthday cake presented to him and was right there in the mix. As it is, we got to see the father of the bride and the father of the groom, both of whom are board members of Mr. Gothard's IBLP. Also, for some reason I had never heard before that Erin and Chad met at a banquet in Chicago. That is where the Gothard/IBLP headquarters is. I am now wondering if Erin or Chad actually worked there at one time. I know David and Priscilla Waller did and still do.

One other little thing - I thought it was more than creepy when the guests said amen, cheered, etc when the bride and groom kissed. Its one thing to save your first kiss but, IMO, another thing to have everyone paying SO much attention to it. It was like they had to save that kiss so their friends and relatives could get their jollies watching it. It should have more reverence than that, JMO.

Otherwise, Chad and Erin are adorable and the wedding was really pretty.

Rudy Tecat said...

Maybe they just edit the tape this way, but Jessa and Ben seem so uneasy around each other... maybe it is just that they can't touch each other yet. Still, they seem to have so much trouble communicating.

Mindy said...

It's been harder and harder to watch the episodes as this "courting" plays out. I feel so bad for Ben because he seems so uncomfortable around the cameras! Much like Anna when she was introduced into the show, only Ben's getting much more attention from JB. Jessa keeps repeating the same lines in the interviews. Must be hard for them not even to be able to casually hold hands...leads to more pent up emotions if you ask me!

Kathy said...

I have watched the Duggars from the first special but as the years go by, JimBob seems to get creepier. He seems very controlling and embarrasses everyone on tv with all his personal questions.

Anonymous said...

I also enjoyed the exchange between Jessa &Jim Bob. He really wanted to put Ben on the spot and she wasn't having it. This was not a private conversation. The bus was full of people including Ben's mom. What's wrong with that man? Maybe he doesn't really want the girls to get married but he needs to do something to keep up with the Bates.
Re: Michelle she was just a disgrace the way she looked. Someone needs to take a chainsaw to her hair!

Allison said...

I mostly liked the episode, save for the usual weirdness of Gothard dating/engagement customs.

However, I would like to nominate Erin as Queen Sweetness for that squeal she gave when Jana handed her the note from Chad. There were a *few* times when Erin got serious and she sounded normal but mostly... wow. Now that was baby talk and she doesn't even have kids yet...

Jim Bob really does seem like he's trying to publicly embarrass Jessa whenever the cameras are around... so annoying. But what's with calling him "her friend." Why can't you be a boyfriend even when courting? It's so... weird.

Anonymous said...

Why is Ben's mother allowing JimBob to abuse her son with his stupid behavior? As a mother, I wouldn't care who the "daddy" of the "treasure" is, I'd have a word with the man and defend my son. Maybe he's respect both Ben and his mom if she did. She's right up there with Queen Michelle as MOTY. (Doesn't care much about the quality of her son's life and future, does she?)

Me thinks the Duggar young women are becoming a bit snarky (LOL)
Did anyone else catch Jessa's comment about Erin's master bedroom?

sandi said...

No,I didn't catch what Jessa said about the master bedroom, what was it?
No wonder Zach and Whit used a decoy car...sardines stink to high heaven! Not to mention the moth balls. That is just a very gross stunt to pull.I'm sure Erin and Chad really appreciated that smell on their wedding night.I hope they were able to shower it off bf they felt sick from the stench.

MayDay said...

Did anyone catch Michelle sitting with a "foreign" looking little girl with glasses in the seats at the wedding. The camera scanned onto them. Michelle was rubbing the little girls shoulder. My first thought could this be an adopted child~ the one they have been praying for?

Katie's Mom said...

Mo matter how many times you see it there is still nothing more disgusting in my mind than that Jim Bob smile and chuckle. It speaks volumes and what it say's is I'm thinking of "sex!" Whether he's teasing the girls or Ben or just talking to the camera. I notice he doesn't tease Derick all that much. Could it be because he's older and has a good education?

Anonymous said...

At the Bates home when Jim Bob finally spoke to Zack he said "so you got yourself one too?" In reference to his fiancé. As if Zack had bagged a deer!

Anonymous said...

I finally had a chance to watch the episode with Erin's wedding. Michelle had on a blouse and long skirt. Doesn't that woman have any dresses for these formal occasions? I know the thrift shops near me always have some lovely formal dresses. Ben's mom looked nice as well as Kelly ,of course.
In my area,at this time of year at least 2 or 3 of the thrift store have beautiful "prom gowns." I think that's great as not everyone can go into the best store for a prom dress that might only be worn once.

Allison said...

There is no way they would adopt a child and not announce it to the world.... they would not have been able to hold this in from People magazine! I notice her too, but I thought maybe it was another guests child.

One thing I noticed was that Kim, Kelly's sister, was wearing PANTS. Does anyone know the deal with that family? I was kind of surprised because we were all talking about how Michelle's family didn't seem to come to Josh's wedding. I would be interested to know if the extended families have ever tried to pull their nieces and nephews out of Gothardism... Especially now with the new revelations, I would be very curious!

geistmadl said...

Jessa iss over her father. And ahe's gettjng really bitchy about it too. Could JB been up to hijinks with her? He seems so hypersexual with Mama Duggar. Erin was annoying with het Barbie doll outlook. And room. Ew. She looked sick right before the kiss.

Ashley said...

I was going to say, Mrs. Bates is wearing pants!! But then Michelle said it was actually Kelly's sister. :)

About half way through the episode, right before the Duggars went into the Bates' house, did anyone else notice the people up on the hill looking at them? Maybe neighbors? It must have been quite a spectacle. ;)

I LOVE the dress Jessa wore to the wedding.

Joseph is 19 years old. He should be packing his own bags. That's just weird to have your sister pack your bags.

Allison, according to the show the Bates had,Kelly's family is not into all things ATI.She and Gil stepped into that life on their own, sometime after marriage.

Yes and Whitney sure did have the side hug thing down when she hugged Jim Bob.You could tell she'd been counseled and groomed for behavior in that family already.
That said,I was totally shocked when Kelly went up to Ben and gave him a full frontal hug.I thought that was forbidden?!

Allison said...

Maybe it's because young men won't be turned on by old women, but an old guy will be turned on by a young woman? Just my thought... But I noticed that too!

Michelle looked like a dowdy old lady at the wedding. She could have gone to a dept. store during a sale and gotten a nice dress. Grandma is more stylish than Michelle. She wears nice outfits, and has a pretty hairdo. Michelle should take a lesson from her.

I did. That big bus and all those ppl must have been quite a sight.
Yes Jessa's dress was very pretty.I was surprised she was allowed to get that close to Ben's chest when doing his tie though!

Kelly did give Ben a frontal hug, but they definitely left more than enough "room for the Holy Spirit'. The hug seemed really awkward for Ben; he seemed really caught off guard.

I just saw this episode. That pink bedroom is more suited for a ten year old little girl. I had to laugh when Jimboob asked Ben he if he was livestock and Jessa asked him if he knew what that meant. I believe that Jimboob would have laid into her for talking to him like that but put on a smile since the cameras were rolling. Why do they feel the need to question Ben about everything? They are on on all their texts, phone calls and dates. If I was a twenty one year old woman and my dad was doing that I would have told him to back off. I wonder how Ben's parents feel about the whole thing. If someone was treating my son like that I would tell them to back off. The way Michelle was talking about their courtship they will have no choice but to get engaged and get married. What would happen if Ben decided he is not ready to get married and breaks it off? Jessa has been trained to believe that courtship should always lead to marriage so she probably doesn't have the option of breaking it off.

I just saw the episode of Erin Bates wedding. I was just amazed that Jessa actually "talked back" to Jim Bob. Yes Jim Bob spoke volumes with his eyes when Jessa talked back and that was no smile either, he looked like he was gritting his teeth. Wonder what happened after the camera's stopped rolling

This whole show is getting more creepy as the girls get older. Jim Bob purports to have such love and respect for women, yet he constantly embarrasses his wife and young girls. It is not showing love constantly kissing and lifting Michelle up and especially what he did at the mini golf. It is absolutely disrespectful. This is the mother of his children, yet he treats her like a sex object . I don't know what kind of "real" relationship they have when they are alone. Some have said on this blog that he has a temper. I will be honest, I have not seen any evidence of it. He does have a lot of control over everyone in his family. He seems to take pride in the fact that he can report about Michelle's "baggage". That, to me, smacks of deep jealousy. I think he has some deep-seated emotional issues and the fact that he is treated like almost a "god" feeds those issues. Maybe Michelle does not dress or do her hair in an attractive way because he doesn't wast her to look better. Without Michelle and those children he would be treated like the very mediocre man he is. If I were one of those girls, I would hightail it out of there as soon as any pimply-faced young man passed the "Muster" with the control freak. JMHO

Anonymous said...

I couldn't believe what a mess Michelle was at Erin's wedding. You almost wouldn't notice the horrible outfit, because of her hairdo. On the other hand, I guess she wasn't one of those guests that try to outdo the bride

sandi said...

Yes I'm surprised Michelle didn't dress all the older girls in off-white or ivory, just to remind everyone once again how they are "Holy Virgins" and therefore better than the rest of society.
And it was lovesick, not livestock, but that was funny. LOL.I guess if Jim Bob wants 200 gkids,he may very well think of the young men as 'livestock' of sorts.ha ha.

Jac&Jil said...

Erin and Chad's wedding was really like most weddings, other than the maturity level of the bride and groom is like young teens and not the adults they are. Their home reminds me of a grown up doll house. The pink bedroom is kind of embarrassing. When I see a bedroom like that, I think of little girls sitting on the floor listening to One Direction, doing each other's hair and painting each other's toenails. Who knows, maybe Chad and Erin do that too. And what exactly does Chad do for a living? No one has ever mentioned that.

The part that was the most disturbing to me was when Michelle, Kelly, etc., were doing the food prep. No one was wearing gloves, and Ben's mom was the only one who had her hair pulled back. I just keep thinking about all the long awful hair. I'd be a little skeptical of eating anything that had been prepared by the ladies because you might find a surprise in it. The cake did look beautiful though.

Anonymous said...

Honestly, I don't know why these brides wear a wedding gown. From the appearances of their female guests, wearing clothes that they would wear to grocery shop, the bride sure looks overdressed for the occasion, which I understand lasts about an hour after the ceremony.
Michelle wore those same old lady ugly gum soled wedgie shoes with those black nun stockings again. She looked terribly dressed, her daughters sadly, didn't look much better. The guests should have worn dinner dresses to the event. Mrs. Bates looked better, like she was actually trying to dress up. Eric's mother was beautifully dresses, but for what?; a cheap reception with bologna, in a basement with cement block walls. They really need a dose of elegance and taste, which doesn't have to cost a lot.

Elspeth said...

About the wedding gowns, those are recently traditional. I've never seen the guests wear dinner gowns to an afternoon wedding. I don't think that's appropriate. I haven't seen guests in full dinner dress at an evening wedding in perhaps forty years. I agree the guests seemed underdressed though as at least churchy dress would have been more appropriate.

Talking about Erin's pink room. It makes total sense when you think about it. She hasn't been allowed to grow up, yet she hasn't been allowed to be a regular girl, either. She spent her childhood living in a cramped house and then sleeping in a dorm room with little kids, never able to decorate or have her own space. She had to be an adult in terms of household work and responsibility without the chance to grow up in terms of decision making, independence, personality formation, spiritual formation, education, etc. Hence the pink room, which she said she's always wanted. She is still emotionally young enough to want what most girls get over by the age of 10 or 11, but she also never got to have the childhood that most girls get. Bright pink rooms are still in her system.

Londonbridges said...

My 11 year old grand-daughter has her bedroom painted the same shade of pink as Erin's room. I omitted Chad's name as it really was his wife's decorating choice. I agree with the previous posters who said that Erin is just experiencing her missed childhood. So sad. JMHO.

Anonymous said...

I thought that Erin is an emotional 12 year old girl. Yes, so sad that on the flip side she is a married woman and must perform like one. I wonder if she will ever grow up? Why are "little girl/woman" attractive and interesting to these fundie young men? Are they just 12 year olds too? Doesn't prepare anyone for real life, does it?

Anonymous said...

Jessa put JimBoob in his place with her remark on the bus. I do not believe she cares anything about getting married but she knows she must follow through with this to get out of Duggerville. She will escape one way or another. They all will.

Anonymous said...

Erin Bates is the result of having no childhood and being forced on the marriage train to the first man that notices you. Her maturity rate will either speed up or stop.
