I'm thinking it is probably Zach and Whit, since kelly said they'd already been doing testing. So they must've been trying.

And Whitney has been pinning lots of baby things lately.

What are they married, like 3 hours? No time at all to adjust to a real adult life. Sad.

Looks like they have either taken their site down or (more likely) decided not to pay the hosting fees and have been shut down. I am sure that they are currently working on trying to get the hosting for free b/c they are too good to pay for stuff like the rest of us.

Would it be down this long if they were just re-vamping it? If not, I would say its because they are getting too much mail about the Gothard scandal that they don't wish to deal with or answer. Just a guess, but as Gil is on the Board of Directors, they could be getting a lot of questions (?) Possibly. Do you think the "ministry" was paying for their website?

It really amazes me that through all the "Christian wisdom" these families are constantly serving up, and thinking it's their "ministry" to do so, that they honestly don't think a brand new married couple, esp. given their very young ages, really need at least a year or two to be together as a couple to actually live together, bond as husband & wife, without a "baby on the way" right off the bat? This is something that is talked about in many, many Christian books as well as many Christian premarital counseling circles is the idea that the newly married husband & wife need a period of time to really get to know each other...even more so IMO if the couples are going the route of the less intimate courting (i.e. family members listening in on all phone conversations and monitoring texting, etc.) followed by these fairly short engagement periods.
I see this business about "leaving it up to God" as hogwash. JB even says he leaves the number of children up to Michelle! (who leaves it up to God?), yet she is marking her cycles on the family calendar and always "trying for more"...if they are all talking about "trying for more", they are not really leaving it up to God, they are taking matters into their own hands by obsessing over menstrual cycles and taking pregnancy test 3 times a day.
Even when J&A were first married, they did not have a "wait and see" attitude, it was all about "hoping", "praying", etc. etc. as Anna was pulling from her stash of test sticks in the desk drawer at the carlot after only being married for less than three months at the ripe old age of 20.
Looks like the Bates site is currently down. Hmmm...

Oops, got carried away, forgot to mention that it looks like it might be Whitney. On one of the FB pages for Bates fans, a commenter posted that she already knows it's Whitney, apparently Whit already spilled the beans to people at a nursing home where her Aunt Linda works.
I was actually hoping it wouldn't be Zach & Whit so soon. Although I don't think Zach would make it as county mayor, I do think there's a lot of other things he can do, as well as Whitney who was going to college and working part-time at Sonic. I kind of saw them as a more "normal" couple with a brighter future away from anything IBLP/ATI related.

My guess is the website is down because they are making major changes to it. Kelly mentioned awhile back that the man who usually helps them with their website was unavailable because his son (I think) was in an accident. Maybe this man is now back at work or they have found someone else to help them. Kelly has mentioned several times that she wants to update the site given all the family changes lately.

I've had a few friends who have had their blog service interrupted in the past. Even Amazon and Twitter has their service go down. Sometimes the host itself goes down and it affects a number of websites. I wouldn't jump to conclusion just yet...

Let's see. Erin and Chad wed in November, Zach and Whitney in December. The first time either couple had physical contact with each other was on their wedding day. They don't believe in birth control, letting God decide the size of their family. Erin and Whitney don't have careers, although I believe Whitney works part time at Sonic (that will be gone shortly if she's pregnant). I'm guessing they're both pregnant, like Alyssa will be pregnant shortly after her May wedding. It's so sad that the women's roles in the marriage are defined before they even marry.

I do have a burning question though. Does anyone know if the Duggars and Bates signed up for Obamacare?

Gil Bates is on the Board of Directors for Bill Gothard's "ministries". Gothard is in such hot water right now that his attorneys may have told the Bates family to lay low online for awhile.

"Does anyone know if the Duggars and Bates signed up for Obamacare?"

Just recently saw a clip of an interview w/ all the Duggars on HuffPost Live where they're basically promoting the new season and the girls book. They are asked specifically about health insurance, how they afford it, Obamacare, etc. & JB states they have Blue Cross of Arkansas and then goes on to shoot down Obamacare as how it came across to me as basically the worst thing in the history of America. Josh also chimed in, dropping the little "fact" that he's "in politics now" (right, Josh, as if we didn't all know that, ugh.) and talks the same negativity concerning Obamacare.

The interview also has Michelle calling Ben Jessa's "friend" (as if she's a grade school girl with a boy she plays basketball with on the playground) and also has JB talking about how he & Michelle went farther than they should have before they were married (making sure to interject, however, that they were still virgins)...there goes the holier than thou, elitist attitude so I just wish they would say maybe farther than THEY would have liked or were convicted instead of always the blanket suggestive of higher standards and all that other nonsense. JB also had to make sure to talk about Michelle's weight and how she put on the pounds during her pregnancies. Michelle then lets everyone know she still works out on the elliptical every morning and has a friend who keeps her accountable. BTW, it appears that Kynzie still has no problem misbehaving as she was crawling & sliding around on the floor ignoring Michelle as she repeatedly kept telling her to sit down. Anna was gazing into Josh's eyes and then recited the usual her children & family are such a blessing and she wouldn't have it any other way.

So glad someone finally asked this! I have been wondering this for a while now and at one point even theorized that this may be why the Bates are getting married off left and right, to lighten the load so to speak. The Duggars may be able to afford coverage or the penalty but I think the Bates may have a hard time doing the same.

Wampascat said...

The Lord put a burden on Zach's heart to run for mayor. How many times have we heard this little phrase in conjunction with many things the Duggars and Bates take it into their heads to do. Now I guess the Lord has laid it on their hearts to let Him decide how many children they will have. Hmmph...
Excuse me, the Lord has put a burden on my heart to finish off the rest of this cheesecake....

sandi said...

I don't know if they have signed up for Obamacare of not,but I do know there are several minitries (like Samaritan) that help with healthcare expenses, and those who sign up for it are exempt from having to get O.care.I can see them doing that before signing up for Ocare.JMO.

Regarding "Jac&Jil"'s comment, I doubt the Duggars or Bates signed up for ACA. When the Bates had their tv show, Kelly was pregnant and she went to a 'free or pay what you can' Christian OB/GYN.

Remember that the Lord whispered to Jim Bob that he should run for Senate...and he lost that one. This might be an exercise in humility for young Mr. Bates.

I wonder if it ever occurs to Kelly and Gil that the expectant parents may wish to make the announcement? I have been blessed with four grand babies and in every instance, the parents made the announcement first, and then the grandparents were free to tell anyone. It was difficult to know the news and keep it quiet until the parents were ready to share. However, it was, IMHO, the parents' choice, not mine.

Special Ed Lady said...

Don't couples keep anythoing private? AWhy on earth would you tell your parents or in-laws you are testing. Why on earth would your parents/in-laws tell the world.

For these people it is all about how many babies you can produce. The girls are trained to submit to their husbands and not to use birth control. After Josh and Anna got married she was so upset that she didn't get pregnant right away. If Jim Bob and Michelle didn't have a bunch of younger children the older girls probably would have been married off by now with children of their own. But for now they are stuck at home raising their buddies. I would bet that Jessa will become engaged and married within the next six months. This will leave the other girls responsible for her buddies. Joy Anna is old enough now to take over Jessa's duties since Michelle certainly wont take responsibility for all the kids she chose to have.

I agree with you, hello. It's a race for conception as they think they're blessed by this each time. They obviously don't leave it up to God. So utterly obvious.

I can't help but wonder don't Mr. & Mrs. Bates find it strange that their grown 24 yr old MARRIED daughter's bedroom is a Barbie princess/little girl's room? They are college eduated themselves, you would have thought they learned something. What's wrong with Erin's husband? How can he think living in a backyard playhouse complete with "little cowboy's room" for a guest room is normal? She, too, like the Duggar girls seems to be emotionally repressed and stopped growing mentally at 12.

I have been hearing about Erin's bedroom. Where can I see a pic?

Kelly's mother confirmed that Whitney is the one who's knocked up on the Bates Family Fan Facebook page. No more details than that, but she really can't be that far along.

Kelly said around mid-January that Whit was already "disappointed" that she wasn't pregnant yet despite taking many pee tests since they got married a month prior. So even if she got knocked up the next day, she's about 8 weeks. Kelly divulged that someone was pregnant before the Gothard scandal broke, so unless she's taking pregnancy tests super early, she's no less than about 6 weeks.

Since we know these people tend to announce before the pee dries on the stick, I'm surprised Whitney hasn't said anything on their blog. Maybe it was a false positive? Maybe she miscarried, or tested early and had her regular period (and thought it was a miscarriage)?

Until the couple announces, I'll be a bit cautious.

Chad just posted on his blog that they lost a baby.

There's a new post on Chad & Erin's website about Erin having a miscarriage; very sad.

Thanks for the info on the pics. OMG It looks like a 5 year olds room! I can't believe Chad would go for that.
Read about the miscarriage too. Sorry for them. Something like that is always sad.

Given that Kelly said on the 9th she was going to post more details, then posted nothing. THEN her mother posted about WHITNEY to their fan site on the 11th, I wonder if this happened last week and the fan page post was a mere diversion to take attention off of Erin. It's easy enough to say Whitney had a false positive test after the fact.

I might have been correct to be a bit guarded, only because these people usually announce before the pee stick is dry.

Chad said that Erin was 9 weeks, so she likely had just had her first appointment and the ultrasound confirmed an empty sac or something similar that necessistated the D&C. Anecdotally, I was older and had more frequent doctor visits, but at 12 weeks, that happened to me. They sent me home, I miscarried a couple of days later, but still required the D&C.

I'm kind of surprised that Erin had the procedure; many fundies equate it to having an abortion. Yeah, it's ignorant, but more than one pro-life fundamentalist has said this.

Although in my opinion I think it's so important for a newly married young couple to not rush into having a baby, I do feel sorry for Chad & Erin. However, I'll add the disclaimer that I feel more sorry for them because now I think they may rush things along in that they want to see if they can actually have a baby. I've known several couples who have been pregnant for the very first time after trying & then had a miscarriage & that put them in overdrive to try, try & try again just to "make sure" it was even possible that they could have a baby. This esp. considering the Duggars & Bates. After Anna's miscarriage it was a very short time til she was pregnant again, making me wonder if they had that mindset.
And Whitney was testing right away hoping to become pregnant immediately? They're so young, it just doesn't make sense to rush into it. And again IMO how are they trusting God with the "number" of children if they are doing all they can to become pregnant, taking tests, monitoring & obsessing?

hello said...

What would happen if any of their kids got married and faced infertility issues? They say they leave it up to God to bless them with children, so would they seek out medical help? Obviously Ji mBoob and Michelle never had to deal with that problem so they never addressed that issue. But they did mention adoption so I wonder if they would encourage them to adopt if they couldn't conceive.

I don't see how you can "rush" into motherhood when you intentionally avoid all forms of birth control from the get-go. That's not rushing, that's part of their lifestyle, whether we agree with it or not. Of course they are going to test! If I was having unprotected sex, I would be testing too!

"I don't see how you can "rush" into motherhood when you intentionally avoid all forms of birth control from the get-go."

The rush-in part occurs when they do this in the first few months of a marriage when they have never been alone before: Make every effort to maximize the chance of getting pregnant by keeping ovulation charts and/or making sure they have intercourse at the most opportune time for gettnig pregnant. That's a lot differnt than just avoiding birth control and having intercourse when the mood strikes you.

--

Can you point me to where it's written or someone has said that Whitney uses ovulation charts or has sex according to a calendar?

It seems to me that a lot of comments on the sex lives of the Bates girls are assumptions based on the comment made several years ago by the Duggar girls about *Michelle*.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, checking on ovulation for maximum chances of conceiving, stressing about it 2 hours after marriage ISN'T leaving it up to God. Also, Michelle, Anna and Erin (sorry for her) have had miscarriages, if that's what you want to call Anna's and Erin's, (so early on); that blows Michelle's birth control punishment from J'Caleb out of the water. They are all so full of it. I would like for Michelle and the other girls to explain that.

Slightly Freaked Out... said...

Erin apparantly miscarried at 9 weeks, which is not "early" as Anonymous has indicated. The Duggars' and Bates' emphasis on procreation in no way lessens the pain of a miscarriage. I think it is a bit flippant to dismiss the pain of a miscarriage regardless of when it occured in the pregnancy.

Faith said...

"Also, Michelle, Anna and Erin (sorry for her) have had miscarriages, if that's what you want to call Anna's and Erin's, (so early on);"
Speaking as someone who has experienced a miscarriage, the amount of time you are actually pregnant is irrelevant - it's devastating no matter how far along.

Coleen said...

There is an update on the Bates family blog regarding Erin's miscarriage. The update notes Erin had an empty sac, which many times means there was never a baby. It is possible for a women to have phantom pregnancy development. I wonder if they know this. Some quiverfull families consider a positive pregnancy test to mean baby whether there is a fetus or not.

sandi said...

Since newly married Whitney was already testing, then I'm sure she must've looked at a calendar and known when to optimize her chances. It's not that difficult to do.

Elspeth said...

Regarding nine weeks not being early, what Erin had was a missed miscarriage. There was never an embryo that developed yet the sac didn't expel as it normally would. So yes, the process stopped very early on.

Anonymous said...

I, in no way, meant to be unfeeling for Erin's misfortune. My point was that women many times don't even know that a heavier period might have been something potentially more. Having said that my greater point was that none of these women were using birth control and experienced a result like Michelle's. Absolutely blaming it on birth control doesn't stand up in my opinion. It happens regardless if artificial birth control is used or not. Why are they in such a rush to conceive if they leave it up to God?

Mindy said...

No loss is an easy one, speaking from experience. She most likely had a blighted ovum: http://americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/blightedovum.html

Allison said...

People can leave the number of children up to God, and still want to get pregnant! The two are not mutually exclusive...

sandi said...

The thing is,they use the term 'up to God' to really mean they disagree with all forms of birth control. They just don't want to come right out and say it.
They know what causes babies, that's the way life is,and if it were really up to God and not given to man to decide, there would be no act of consumation required by them to have a baby.jmo.

Anonymous said...

And you can leave the number of children you have up to God and have none. There are no guarantees in life.

Special Ed Lady said...

This whole thing was tragic, but to post your wifes picture on the internet, after she had a D&C really seems strange.

Second generation of attention seeking numbskulls. Erin will be knocked up again in no time flat and the story of the little lost Angel will be added to the legend of "Caleb" when they all trot out to wave their signs at anti abortion rallies.

Wampascat said...

What is the damn hurry??? I mean, I realize the objective is to have as many babies as possible in order to create as many "voters" as possible in order to change America to their way of doing things eventually. I get that they are really that deluded. I also get that Zach's pants were basically on fire and he couldn't wait to copulate with his new bride, but sheesh! Can they wait a hot minute before the baby making assembly line begins?
One question, if they are having as much sex as possible ( and leaving it up to God) to become pregnant, and I assume Jim Bob and Michelle and Kelly and Gil also are included in this group, what happens when they are confirmed to be in menopause?

sandi said...

Even if confirmed,Michelle will just say they are at that season of life where they are just enjoying their grandbabies, and Jim Bob will still have that sheepish cheesy, grin on his face and say they are still enjoying trying! I don't think anything will ever change, they are so predicitable.

Wampascat said...

It's time for Michelle to say "Get off me Howdy Doody"!

I believe Michelle has been confirmed to be in menopause. It means she is of no value now in the cult. Leaving it up to "sex without birth control" determines how many children you will have. What are they going to do when they have a downs syndrome or other disabled child. Do they ignore the risks?
