Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 9:00 PM, All About Jill

Jill Duggar is about to become Jill Dillard! See her very special bridal shower, where she spends time with the mamas and babies she's met through her work as a midwife. Could the next shower for Jill be a baby shower?

61 minutes

Really?  An episode all about Jill as if this entire season hasn't been all about Jill?

Jill is not a midwife, she assists a midwife. Too much about the Princess Jill......

I thought this was the wedding episode. UGGGGH! How. long. can. this. drag. out.

I have said it before & I will say it again; Jill is no midwife & she never will be. She is nowhere near completing her training, either her clinical, or classroom, which for her probably amounts to sitting at a computer. I know many courses can be taken & completed on the computer, but not when you're dealing with human lives. I'd like to see the mark she'd get on a written exam. Anyone out there that would be happy to have Jill as their midwife?

Anonymous said...

I wish this family would quit inventing their own qualifications and calling themselves trained in whatever the task is.
NO WAY, would I let Jill, or any Duggar near me to have any role in the delivery of my child!
I also would like to hear from Jill directly as to where she really is in her road in training and GRADUATING to be a real mid-wife in her own right...Out of say, 10 steps, what # step is she at this time in the real world and when would she be able to deliver as a mid wife in a hospital ob/gyn unit? I think we would find that she has been "dabbling" in this pass time, like her sisters do in their "interests", like photography. It's a far cry from snapping someone's picture to cutting a woman's child's umbilical cord correctly!

Will this ever end? Maybe next "season" will be the Jessa show - oh wait though - we need a whole season about Jill's pregnancy so I doubt it. I would love to know just why the Duggars think this show is any type of ministry. Their self serving attitudes are really getting annoying - honestly how can they think they are so important?

Londonbridges said...

Not I, Anonymous!! This "reality" show is a joke. The truth is twisted so many ways, either by TLC or the Duggars or both. I'm not certain myself. JimBob and Michelle, why won't you be totally truthful in all things? Jill isn't a midwife. Plain and simple. You don't encourage me in the least when you give the viewers an untruth. JMHO.

These duggar girls will never finish advanced training. I saw the episode when Michael was born on the toilet after a prolonged labor. His coloring and sounds were not at all within the healthy range (I am an RN, though not specialized in OB, I am familiar with assessing babies at birth and have certification for pediatric life support). Although he improved near the end of the episode, it is very obvious they had no concern for Anna or the baby throughout the labor process. It is fortunate there were no complications this round, but I would never recommend these untrained women to do a home birth for such a prolonged period of time. All she can do is call 911--what is with these people? They want as many kids as they can, but endanger their children's and mothers lives for birth!

Is this episode just going to be about princess Jilly-Dilly? We practically saw half of her life televised already. When is the darn wedding? I couldn't even handle having her and her lazy sisters sit around while Jana-rella slaved over JILL's wedding.

This whole season has been all about Jill, what can they possibly have left to show?! This is rediculous!

Anonymous said...

I'll have Jill as my midwife... Then I'll sue for millions when it goes wrong. (I'm a horrible person). I needed medical intervention with all three of my kids, a non certified midwife couldn't handle my medically complex pregnancies.

I doubt she would know what to do in a real emergency.

i would not have her as my midwife. sorry. that lady her and Jana work for cannot delivery babies in a hospital. the duggars do not do college expect for college plus. their friends the Bates do. those. Erin Bates has a degree from a Christian college. I always wonder why the duggars will not let their children attend a christian college they have so much talent to offer. they are missing out on so much

Jill will never be able to deliver in a hospital L&D unit unless she changes paths and gets her BS and MS in nursing. She dropped out of studying to be a lay midwife. They don't have hospital privileges.

Anonymous said...

Yeah I'm not a nurse or anything close but I was shocked by how blue Michael looked after he was born on the toity.....not ok!!! That same episode they talked about possibly having the baby on the bus. I thought of the song "Ramblin Man" lol. And who would want to be grunting & moaning like they were taking a dump with Jim Boob & the rest of the fam in earshot?? Ew....

Nancy Nurse said...

Even if Jill only had a smattering of midwife training at the time Anna was in labor with Michael, she should have realized that Anna was in deep trouble. To this day as a nurse, I think Anna was fortunate & it was only by the grace of God that she & Michael survived that labor & delivery. Michelle herself needed to have cesarean sections more than once. For one thing, Michael had a huge head & she probably should have had a C-section to ensure no brain injury. He could have had the cord wrapped around his neck, so many disturbing things come to my mind. Every delivery is different & just because MacKenzie's delivery went fairly smoothly it wasn't the same with Michael. I though Anna was in some of worst pain I had ever witnessed & she needed to be in a hospital setting. These people don't have a clue how close they came to losing mother or baby or both. If I had endure what Anna endure with that delivery there never would have been a third child.

griffin said...

i know this is a small thing, but when the midwife was delivering someone else's baby on one episode and trouble started, she turned around and said "someone call 911!". now, i'm just a lay person who has been to cpr training many times and one of the main points they always make is you have to point and say "YOU! (or David or girl in the red dress!) call 911". otherwise, people are likely to think someone else will do it. her lack of professionalism when she's supposed to be teaching has always bugged me

Do Josh and Anna have homebirths because they have no insurance? Jim Bob is always spouting not to incur any debt....what a moron...risk the lives of your wife and unborn child to save a buck.

hello said...

I believe they said they decided to have a homebirth with Mckynzie at the last minute because their doctor was out of town. I believe it was Josh's decision and Anna had no say. When she was pregnant with one of the boys, they were going on a "field trip" on the Duggar traveling circus bus and she was due very soon. Anna said if I go into labor I can just have the baby on the bus. She would have been ok with that even though there would not have been one person qualified to deliver a baby? Jimboob was probably hoping that would happen as it would have gotten good ratings for the show. She ended up delivering that baby shortly after they returned. I would bet that the next season will be devoted to Jill's pregnancy and delivery. They will show Jill and Derick going for an ultrasound and Jill will make sure they Derick holds a sheet up so no one can her stomach, just as we have seen Jimboob do. Jill had said in an interview that she didn't know if they would stick with the same letter for all their kids, but I bet they will. I wonder if Jimboob has started negotiations with TLC to film the birth and with People for the rights to the first baby pictures.I don't think Jessa and Ben will be getting a whole season devoted to their courtship, engagement and wedding like Princess Jill got. I also don't think they will be getting a mcmansion either.

sandi said...

No,I would not care to have Jill as a midwife.Although it was not on Jill at Michael's birth,I thought someone should have made sure Anna was transported to the hospital when she said she couldn't do it,and clearly needed help. (not just Josh grabbing her face and telling her she could do it).I think the birth crew failed miserably on that one.

Anonymous said...

They decided to have Mac's home birth because Dr. Sarver was out of town and I bet you, the attending ob/gyn was a male physician and they didn't want "him to see Anna's secret garden". Shameful of THEM, to put that child at risk because of archaic beliefs. I also don't know why when Marcus was on the way didn't they just drive to the ED nearby and have Anna deliver with some real qualified help? That woman's "birth center" was merely her HOUSE...it had no equipment at I saw, no birthing bed, which raises up and is "collapsible" so gravity helps the mother deliver...just unsafe all the way around with all of Anna's kids. I do believe it's all about money with them. If they are such financial planners, why didn't Josh start saving a "delivery fund" just in case Anna had to be transported to a hospital to deliver? I'm quite sure Josh at that time had no medical insurance as he was self employed at the car lot. Just bad living and even poorer planning on their part. In any case, Grandpa Jim Bob should have paid the bill. They treat their expectant wives and their newly delivered wives like pack mules, David Waller included. The only one who gets princess treatment, as usual, is Michelle...she goes to a hospital, gets taken care of by nurses (OH, working women!) then comes home to the bedroom palace upstairs and had 4 housemaids to take care of everything for her as always.

Because JB&M ars so narcissitic, I brlieve they are afraid of thier kids becoming more successful than them. Therefore, they hide behind their religion and they hold back their children. Wouldn't want anyone to be smarter or make more money. The kids seem to be their possessions.

Jill is not a certified nurse midwife (CNM), that takes a master's degree in nursing, hundreds of supervised clinical hours, and taking a certification exam. Even then, CNM's have backup of an MD to assist when things are going sour. These girls are no more midwives than I am. It annoys me when they call themselves midwives, because to the public, it minimizes the hard work and training it takes to become a midwife.

I am so sick of Jill and her Nerdy Twit husband....please move to other members of the family.

This episode has really made me do a complete 180 on my opinion of Jill. I think she is selfish, narcissistic, and ignorant. I could care less about her wedding and wish they would stop filming her and focus on the siblings equally.

Anonymous said...

Re hello: All physicians have a covering "on call" doctor to cove for them when out of town and Dr. Sarver had one too; as it's procedure. They just didn't want a male physician to be involved, IMO as Anna would have had to go to the ob dept at the hospital and meet him at that location. They are just too cheap and old fashioned for a male doctor to "see Anna's private parts". Stupid of them.

Ready for the Dillard big announcement? It me it seems 15 weeks is rather early for the gender announcement, I thought they normal schedule the big scan at 20 weeks to check on proper development of the baby?
I'm so over this lame season of wedding planning when she's already pregnant!

I absolutely agree that they wouldn't have a male doctor deliver the baby. I also think that part of the decision to have a homebirth was for ratings for the show.

I sure as heck agree with you on how i fell about Jillybean...i used to think she was kind and sweet nooo more. I'm with you all the way...Me me me me me me and Derick Dillard---so sick of hearing that whole name. In the beginning i thought he might be ok. Now i think he is just one big lanky Boob waana be--even dresses like old pudgy boob. Goofy smile and just goes along with whatever Jillybeanmuffin' and Boob says. And here we goo again...Bossy Jessa's BEN SEWALD (yeah Duggars we know the dang names we r not clueless u say the whole name every chance you get...that is soo ignorant. Sick of them all. Buy used and save the difference Ha ha ha. And the midwife crapola...that will never happen. It will be all about poppin' out kids and live births ..oh the fun and excitement ahead. These people are a danger to themselves.

puddin' said...

Just another thing :-) I wonder how long it will be until Jill starts talking baby talk like her Crazy Eyed Mom does. With that big horse toothy grin. Whennny is what i have to say on that.

Allison said...

I wonder what next season, presumably about Jessa, will be about. This has been so much about "Our FIRST wedding" (because Josh's didn't count?) and Jessa will be the second daughter so I'm wondering how they'll hype it up? Or maybe they won't because please God not another wedding planning season. I don't need to spend 3 months watching someone plan theirs.

I never cared for Jill, but really liked Derick and was wondering what he ever saw in her. Derick NOW seems as if he's been drinking the Duggarade and will forever be a part of Jim Bob's Jail which I find very sad. Even his disposition has changed since Nepal.

None of JB's kids have ever been to college - JB keeps harping about debt so NO WONDER he's saved so much money keeping all 19 cooped up in a box with no education, etc.

I guess I'd do really well for myself in Arkansas too if I never left the house. Plus, having tons of people buying everything on my registry would be a bonus.

JB grills Derick about money, but JILL will never contribute anything financially == she will continue to give birth to more and more kids so Derick can endlessly attempt to stay debt free and support them all.

Good Luck with that!

Anonymous said...

I think there is more to Jill than meets the eye. She looked absolutely mortified, angry, and like she was about to cry on the handcuff episode. She even had the nerve to say, "at least this is less than embarassing than the playground". I don't think she always wants to drink the ko

Anonymous said...

It's do obvious that Jim Bob hords all the money from the show....if he had given Josh his share when he got married then maybe those 3 kids would have been born in a hospital!

Anonymous said...

I am so glad that other people call Jill out for what she is. She definitely knows that she is the golden child and has no problems acting the part! Princess Jilly of Smuggarville is at it again.

By the way...I am already sick of hearing about Baby Dilly and that stupid nickname. I can only imagine what it will be like when we see the birthing episode (which will air when the little prince is one).

Anonymous said...

What a fitting name for an episode. Jill is exactly like Michelle, her middle name suits her perfectly. She, like her mom, always has to outshine people. Why did she need an entire season of episodes dedicated to her wedding planning? She planned her wedding for 3 months, it didn't need 2 months worth of episodes. Now that it's Jessa's turn to tie the knot, we haven't heard anything about her wedding prep or anything. It's still all about Jill- her wedding is on TV, her baby announcements and updates are ALL over the place. Jill, we don't care how big your baby bump has gotten from 13 weeks to 13 weeks, 5 days. I hope Jessa's wedding and her life with Ben afterwards gets as much publicity.

Allison said...

Jill is at 18 weeks as of today... and apparently they did the ultrasound only this last Saturday (or the previous Saturday) so that would be either 16 or 17 weeks. From what I've heard you can definitely tell by then.

Anonymous said...

I really hope the TLC producers wise up and start planning these episodes to focus around other members of the family rather than letting Jim Bob decide. I can't believe how screwed up this season and last one was---it has to be ignorant Jim Boob calling the shots. TLC---get a grip!

Anonymous said...

Agree 100%. I'm a nurse myself and I cringe every time someone refers to her as a midwife. I'm pretty sure she hasn't even graduated high school. Just GED certificate and certainly not nursing school!

Anonymous said...

A boy. Hope if they continue having tons of kids, they somehow are all boys, so Jill realizes how foolish it is to have endless children as she loves to delegate work and she's been taught boys aren't to do women's work.

Anonymous said...

Yes Anon 10/21/2014 8:31 AM, I am glad she is having a boy too! and I also hope she has a bunch of boys first. Because you can already see with Mackynzie that if she had a girl or girls first, these poor girls are taught from the get-go to be "Mommy's helpers."

Anonymous said...

It's all very Little House on the Prairie.....& even then they had a "Dr. Baker" present lol. I took a First Responder course & we "practiced" delivering babies in an emergency. Maybe I can go be a midwife!!!!

Anonymous said...

I think Jim Boob's question to Derick about how did you go through college without student loan debt was telling. His ignorance on financing a college education has resulted in all of those uneducated adult children with more to come each year.....He needs a reality check...and he needs to pay his children for acting in his show. They have earned it.

Anonymous said...

Weren't they going to make AN announcement during tonight's (10/21) episode? They have announced this morning that Jill's having a boy. I don't think that's what the announcement is tonight, if so, why would they have leaked it early today? I suspect maybe another announcement. Is it two boys?

Anonymous said...

As an accountant, Derick could tell JB a thing or two about debt. Debt can be a good thing when you're in your twenties as it helps establish a good credit rating. Without it, neither Derick nor Jill could qualify for buying a home of their own unless Jill has a big bank account from TLC which she might. Just because JB and M didn't handle their debt effectively doesn't mean Derick can't.

I hate the way JB says he is "encouraging" them not to go into debt. In Duggar talk, encouraging means "ordering" his kids what to do. I like Derick, but he is a total wimp to be sucking up to every little thing JB says. I'd be furious. And giving Derick and Jill a house right now is incredibly demeaning and disrespectful when Derick has the right, and the responsibility, to establish himself as a competent husband in his marriage, not someone beholden to his father-in-law for shelter. I'd sooner live in a tent than take a handout from JB who has a sneaky way of making himself look good all the time. It would have been healthier if JB and M said, "We would like to help all of our children equally during their first year of marriage. Would you like a gift of x dollars or would you like to live in the Stoneybrook house for one year for x dollars in rent?" But his motivation is not to be fair or validating or respectful. It's to control every member of his family and keep them as close as possible until his last breath.

Anonymous said...

Snadi, please don't be offended but exactly what "birth crew," were you referring to with Michael's birth? Miss Theresa who was there, is not a midwife, but supposedly only a doula. Also Mrs Queery was there & her qualifications seem to be that she is a mother. I don't consider any of these people to be a "birth crew." Yes it was pretty bad Josh in Anna's face saying "you can do this." It was a tie between that, & his going to take a nap. Also from the time Michelle & her girls arrived, Michelle kept saying; "Anna is doing beautifully, it will only be another few minutes." It was more than 19 hours later before Michael was born. What a "birth crew." Then in walked JB & all the rest of the Duggars, & JB announced, "Josh, he's just beautiful, I think he looks like me." I don't care if he was kidding or not, I think he should have said something kind, thoughtful & considerate to the daughter-in-law that just went through hell giving birth to his 1st grandson. She was ignored.

I have never understood why there was such an issue about DR Sarver being out of town. I know when my children were born they made sure I knew the covering DR's There is usually a group of 2 or 3 so a patient will at least have met, & probably been examined by one of other DR's in the practice. DR's go on vacations or to conferences often, so it's unrealistic to expect that only DR Sarver would be available. I believe Anna'a babies were born a few days early. The entire problem was, they just couldn't stand the thought of a male DR. I don't think money was an issue just the fact that the DR on call, I'm sure was a male

No, that's the news. I guess they were just kidding.... I read that they are going to actually show the gender reveal on the commercial though. So I'm not entirely sure what they are going to do for next season...

Anonymous said...

Why would they announce the gender of the baby on an episode, before the wedding as shown?

Anonymous said...

Jim Bob's questions about how Derick went through college with out any debt was just for the show. It has nothing at all to do with why the Duggar kids will never go to college. Both Michelle & JB have said many times, that since they don't have college educations, they don't believe their kids need college educations.
Also I don't know if Jill even has a GED, as Michelle has said that it is not requirement in their state for homeschooled children. She has said that she has taken some of the kids to take the GED exam but not all of them. She has never explained who has a GED or why a particular child took the exam & not all the homeschool graduates.

They were at the appointment to find out the gender when they found out the miscarriage. And they knew that Jubilee had stopped developing earlier than that, which might be why they had to deliver first to know the gender for sure. According to BabyCenter, you can find out the gender between 16 and 20 weeks. So that's a pretty big gap and I think it just depends on when the appointment happens to be. People won't be able to find out the gender the exact same week all the time.

So, if one of the Duggars doesn't get married, will that be a failure to M & JB? Like, THEY ALL MUST GET MARRIED NOW?

I read that Jill and Derrick brought her buddy group with her to the ultrasound. While I think it's weird that she still has a buddy group (why not assign the younger kids to Joy? She could handle two of them I'm sure), it's nice that they got to be part of that moment, considering she's more their mother than Michelle, so it's like seeing a little sibling rather than their nephew.

Jim Bob quote: "We need to see what the Lord does with Derick and Jill over the next few years."

DUH - Derick will be working to stay debt free (per Duggar Law) and Jill will pop out litters of children.

So, how is the Lord going to do anything WITH them?

Will they be ministering in foreign countries? Don't think so.

Will they be doing anything for anyone else in need? Don't think so.

Helping or feeding the poor? Don't think so.

Getting a degree to become a REAL midwife or pursue an education (referring to JILL specifically). Don't think so.

Doing everything Jim Bob says and dictates they should do? DEFINITELY.

The Lord won't be doing much with Jill and Derick, but Jim Bob sure will be - count on it.

I don't think Josh really took a nap.I think there was some hashing out between Josh and the film crew as to whether or not the cameras could go in the bathroom, once it became evident Anna was delivering in there.I think they assured Josh they would 'move him out of the way' somehow, and make it appear he had nothing to do with them going in.Hence the 'nap'.I suppose they could have had him take out the garbage or something, but it wouldn't be realistic of him to leave the house at that moment,so nap it was. That is all JMO of course.

Yes, Jim Bob wants to see what the Lord does with Jill and Derick because HE is the "Lord of the manor in Duggarville", isn't he?
Another wasted episode, IMO. A well presented 2 hour "wedding prep and ceremony" episode would have sufficed back in early July. Do we have to endure the same thing with Princess Jessa's nuptials? Give her a good 2 hour episode before Thanksgiving and MOVE ON, TLC!
It was good to hear from Grandma Duggar, finally! I think she believes this courtship stuff is crap.
So good to see Derick's family come out of the woodwork and be allowed to speak and actually represent themselves. Good of the Duggars to give someone else some camera time. I wish, however, Mrs. Cathy would have explained how she and her husband raised Derick and his brother....he was in boy scouts, attended a real school, etc! Wow, how did he pass Jim Bob's litany of requirements?
Derick needs to be able to complete a sentence without Jill interrupting him.
You can see and hear Michelle was quite jealous that Jill "got to sit with ALL THOSE BABIES". The woman is nuts and is addicted to infants...IMO,, but NOT to taking care of them as they grow.
Also, why the new step with "cryptic" codes before posting?

Jackson hit the nail on the head when he confirmed that John David does not lead a buddy team and he does not have a lady. This confirms my suspicion that Joseph, Josiah and the older boys including Josh when he was living at home are not expected to do anything related to children other than play with them. Poor Jana. I would have rebelled against this sexist patriarchy long ago.

Allison said...

To be fair, why the heck did the producers ask that? It's like they wanted the Duggars to blush and be embarrassed and awkward. They were all like "How do we say sex without actually saying it?" I mean it's obvious. WE all know what they are looking for. Sometimes I think the producers just egg them all on. Not that the Duggars aren't weird, but I don't think the producers help.

I thought that was for real with Josh going in to take a nap as he actually seemed to be complaining big time about how long the labor was lasting. At the time he went in to take his nap, I thought Anna was still in the living room & it was before anyone asked her if she needed the bathroom. Of course, even in a dramatic moment like this one, they said Anna needed to use the, "restroom." They never use the word bathroom it's always the restroom. To me it was true Duggar style for the man to decide he was worn out from is wife being in excruciating pain, enduring such a long labor over 19 hours. What's a Duggar man to do..he must take a nap!

Does anyone else think all this courtship & no physical contact might be because Jim Bob's sister had Amy years before she married Amy's dad. So maybe one unwed mom in the family(I know she's married to Amy's dad now) was enough & that's not going to happen in JB's family.

For Canned Soup:
One of the activities at the wedding shower was for everyone to put their thumbprint and name on a picture that featured two lovebirds. Michelle said she should put her print right between the two lovebirds because she is still their chaperone. Of course it would also make her the centre of attention which is Crazy Lady's preferred location

Does anyone else think that there is something off about the way that Anna speaks? I can't figure out if it's a lisp or something else that is going on on the right side of her mouth (left side if you are looking at her). I have noticed this for a while but the crazy thing is that I see the same thing when Derrick speaks. Has anyone else noticed this?

Perhaps Anna's jaw and teeth alignment have changed. I can see that they finally got her teeth fixed.

I also notice Anna's face when she speaks and it drives me crazy. She always seems very uncomfortable when she does a blabbing head, and just recently became better in front of the camera. I remember when she couldn't end a sentence because she hadn't yet adopted the Duggar "AAAANNND" after every sentence and pause. She screws up the right side of her mouth and makes giant google eyes. The google eyes I see as an attempt at child like innocent and delight. Not sure why she has to screw up the side of her mouth. My guess is that it started when she was little and will never go away. Much like her and Josh.

I thought the "fingerprint picture" was a keepsake for Jill of the Mom's & babies she participated in birthing. Why was Michelle's fingerprint on it anyway? She doesn't qualify for per the meaning of the picture. I'm embarrassed for her turning it around to be all about her once again.

You know, I never thought of that before but that is a good reason. It would make sense. Sadly I think JB enjoys shamming people. Example, how he has convinced MD that she committed a sin by dating in high school, when I bet JB couldn't buy a date in high school.

This confirms my suspicion that Joseph, Josiah and the older boys including Josh when he was living at home are not expected to do anything related to children other than play with them. "

That's brings up a question. Why was James making pickles with the girls when he could have been out doing something with John David or Josiah? I'm not saying boys shouldn't be in the kitchen, it's just weird in this instance. They don't really need buddy groups anymore. Jenny, Jordyn and Josie are the only ones who really need a hand to hold crossing the street, help tying shoes and brushing teeth and all that. And Michelle can handle three kids. And if she really thinks she needs help, she call in Joy and Jinger as back-up. Not as substitute moms, just in the way older siblings often help out. The grown-up boys are off the hook for helping with the kids, Jana, Jill and Jessa should be, too. The buddies were very helpful for a while but with so little of the family being young, there's just not any need anymore.

Derrick's fathers clothes I understand, but there is absolutely no reason for hers to be there.

There is something strange about Anna's speech. I'm not sure if it's a lisp, or what it is. I have known people that do not have a good command of the English Language, so when they do speak they are trying to get it right in their head & it does sound somewhat like the way Anna speaks. She's trying to use correct grammar, but is not quite sure what she should say or how to say it. Michelle, JB & the rest of the kids don't care how they speak. You can't blame the kids they only know what they have been taught.

Watching Ben work for Jim Bob would have been too hurt full to watch. At least we know there was a wedding rather than when Michelle was expecting Jubilee scenes. All of the scenes about her expecting should have been written out with the death announced early in the season. Hopefully they stretch out the next wedding.

Josh's wedding got quite a bit of publicity (considering they weren't nearly as "famous" as they are now) and Jill's wedding CLEARLY has gotten more than an overwhelming amount of publicity and air time. Now I'm wondering how Jessa's wedding will be publicized? She's not the first Duggar to get married, and not even the first daughter. From here on out I'm expecting many of the older Duggars to be courting/tying the knot…so I don't know how they will keep every season interesting when it's the same old same old. Talking about why you have to be pure, announcing that their first kiss will be on their wedding day (like it's some huge surprise), saying they will welcome as many babies as God will give them and that they are open to adoption (but will never actually adopt).
I almost feel bad because I like Jesse A LOT more than I like Jill. And Jessa was the first daughter to court and it almost seems like Jill rushed to get engaged and marry before Jessa just to be the first Duggar daughter to wed, and then she got knocked up before Jessa even had the chance to. Sounds silly, but knowing Jill's personality I truly believe she wants to be in the spotlight and she wants to be mommy and daddy's favourite.
I hope Jessa has a few humble episodes about her wedding prep and wedding…and I hope to God that her and Ben wait to have kids and that they travel and get to know each other first. I can honestly see Jessa doing something like that, or maybe it's just wishful thinking because I like Jessa and I think she has the potential to be the one to break free of the rules somewhere down the road. I hope her and Ben adopt and live in a small humble home like she says.

Does Jill actually think that she is a certified midwife? Or does she say that because it's almost wishful thinking but deep down inside she knows she'll never actually have the education and once she has her first baby she will never "work" a day in her life again.
What bothers me most of all is how these kids have been deprived of not only a "normal" life but also of a real education. They all clearly have interests that they cannot pursue. The girls are almost given a "taste" of a career (Jill and Jana with 'midwifery' and Jinger with her photography) but they do not get a real education in anything, and once they are married and knocked up they will stay home and be 'homemakers' till the day they die.
Jim Bob and Michelle are so selfish. They have literally said that because they do not have post-secondary education, they don't feel that their kids need it either. How stupid can they be. They lucked out big time…because with 19 kids and without a TV show they would be on the streets. They have made millions of dollars from their show, and scored thousands of freebies. That is how they get by. Most people do not luck out that way. They are encouraging their kids to have 19 + kids as well, but out of 19 kids I'm sure most of them will not have the privilage of their own TV show and the money that comes with it. Without any education their kids won't even have a real income. They are used to just "praying about it" and hoping that God will somehow provide for them. As a believer myself I tell you God doesn't just provide for you if you pray. You have to work for stuff yourself. These kids are going to be in for a real treat when reality finally hits them in the face.

Did anyone see the Fox interview with Jill and Derick where they announced that they were having a boy? One of the interviewers literally said "according to your parents you are their favourite!"

Obviously we already knew that, but how rude of Michelle and Jim Bob to say that, and how rude of the interviewer to say that live. Jill was beaming with joy which really pisses me off. She acts nothing like what a modest young woman should act like. She's self absorbed, fake, selfish, rude. I don't know how much more of JILL JILL JILL I can take before I never watch this show again. She acts like a 13 year old with no education and her first crush. I'm mortified that she is married to such a "normal" guy who will realize how bizarre her and her entire family is. I feel so sorry for the 19 kids she will definitely have, because she will parent them the same miserable way Michelle "parented" her 19 kids.

Anonymous said...

I truly question the Jill/Derick dynamic. While they do seem super "happy" right now…you know that given their circumstances and the short time they got to know each other/were engaged/and now married…real love could not have developed. Especially since it's Jill's first relationship, it's all lust and she doesn't even know it. She just enjoys playing house and the freedom she gets with being married.
Derick had a completely "normal" typical life. He only had 1 brother, went to a mainstream public elementary school, high school and a real college and got a REAL degree. He travelled and lived abroad, he was a mascot in high school and from the research I've done he's made appearances at weddings and danced…therefore he does NOT share the same core values as the Duggars. I believe he is a religious young man, but if it wasn't for Jill he would NOT follow those psychotic fundie rules. I believe 110% that Derick has kissed other girls. Maybe he was a virgin, but there is no way that a teenage boy who went to public high school, university and travelled and lived abroad has never touched or pecked a girl on the lips. I just wonder if he has come clean to Jill about this, and if so how she and her dad felt about that/handled that situation?

The Duggar parents state that they invented in their daughter, Jill? How so? I don't see any investment made in her or any of her siblings especially her sisters. Michelle seems to have her daughters convinced that they need their parents when, my friends, it is quite the opposite. It is Jim Bob and Michelle who need their daughters. They are in no way equipped or work oriented enough to handle 12 kids at home themselves even though some of those are grown men in their own right...So sad that they have pulled with wool over their daughters' eyes. They have invested nothing in real time with them, certainly no education for them, no activities such as dance lessons, sports, clubs, no music lessons from a REAL instructor who gives annual recitals for ALL parents to attend, nothing that belongs to the girls individually, as they have to share clothes from a communal closet...How did they invest in their daughters? Anyone out there know? I can't see it.

I'm disappointed that Jill got pregnant right away. I was hoping that Derrick might whisk her away and go traveling, or off to another country for missionary work together. I was also hoping that he might encourage her to get a real college degree so she could become a licensed midwife. Didn't she want a break for herself, after taking care of her siblings, for so many years? Some time to explore, what she wants for herself? I guess this is how JD and MD raised her. They get to take on a hobby, with an accountability partner in tow, play around a little, but then all of that has to go away once you get married. I don't know. It just seems so depressing, but she sure seems happy. It's her life, and she must live it.

Re: Anonymous 10/23@7:55am
Jill really does think she's a certified midwife as she has been through some training, but mostly because her mom keeps talking about Jill being a "midwife." I think in Michelles mind Jill is a certified midwife. Also the lady that was her mentor acted the same way. They act like she's God's gift to pregnant women. Thank God Jill is here, now the baby can be delivered. I don't wish her any harm, but I sure hope she has a home delivery just like Anna had with the birth of Michael. If Derick witnesses that, maybe he'll sneak off & have a vasectomy

Regarding the Dill Pickles/Rugrats comment I'm around the same age as the Duggar girls as a matter of fact I'm sandwiched right between Jill and Jessa. Born in 1992 to be exact. Most people in our age group early to mid 20s and late teens remember shows like Rugrats since we grew up with it. As a matter of fact it's been said that the young people born in the late 80s and early 90s in this internet age are very nostalgic about our cartoons and video games and even simpler times before the internet boom.

So even the oldest children I'd say Josh through maybe Josiah probably never seen an episode of Rugrats. Which sucks because I feel like it was a great show from our generation they missed out on.Yet their parents got to watch TV growing up. In the early days of the seriesMichelle mentioned Rocky and Bullwinkle and Jim Bob chuckled and even mentioned the Beatles. Shows and music from their generation.

So maybe Derick would get the Baby Dill Pickles reference since he wasn't raised so rigid but Jill wouldn't have a clue.

I have researched this quite a lot, and the reason home births are so popular in this movement is because Eve's punishment (and so all women's) for eating the apple was for child birth to be painful. They believe any kind of pain killers during the process is going against God's design. From what I've found out, a lot of low-risk women who have no intention of using pain killers often prefer home births as the setting is more comfortable. The no-hospital probably doesn't have anything to do with no having health insurance, and more about another way to torture and control women.

Jill may not be a midwife, but i wouldnt mind having her as a doula. She seems very calming and patient. I think dereck very purposely chose this lifestyle- the duggar brand of christianity- because he loves it. I'm wondering where Jessa is going to live. In the tin house with Ben? Will he be promoted to head groundskeeper now? Really, neither has profession, place to live, furniture or anything!!!!! And my parents thought my hubby and I were ill prepared for marriage, lol! Seriously, id love to lnow their life plan.

Saw on one of the Derek and Jill pages that they were seeing a Broadway show. It didn't say which one but a few people commented that it was probably frozen. At least jill is somewhat leading a normal lifestyle now and being able to get some real culture in her life that she wasn't able to do when she lived at home. Yes I know they traveled the world but they were still very very sheltered in what they were exposed to. Also it's nice they're able to get out just the two of them without being babysat or being babysitters themselves.

They're just behind on evolving etiquette. Just as they follow old or out-dated concepts for courting, avoiding all debt, etc, so they are following fiftyish etiquette guidelines where women did not stand to greet people except guests in their own homes. It began changing in the 80s and 90s IIRC.

My strongest inclination on why Jill instead of Derick is that Jill is the favorite. DimBoob wanted to best for his lil JillyMuffin, and Derrick was easy picking. Jana says she is fine with waiting (but it seems her face says otherwise). Also dimBoob always plugs the idea "opposites attract" because it worked for him and Michelle, but he probably saw that JillyMuffin easily talks over people and will have the Stronger will to talk Derick into the Duggar lifestyle, whereas a Jana would be more compliant to her man--therefore Jana would need to be set up with an ultra-duggar type.

This family is so so creepy. The girls have literally no choice in their future. Marriage, handpicked by Jimboob, babies, babies. No chance to experience a real education, culture or even the freedom to just do what they want to. And it annoys me no end that the duggar robot girls get stuck with a lot of the housekeeping crap. And many women have died in childbirth unnecessarily due to improper birthing care over the centuries. Women have prayed for pain medication during this time. Why shouldn't they get it? It is akin to surgical/medical procedures as simple as a tooth filling without novacaine. It's archaic and barbaric to not offer assistance in this day and age. It is also inconsiderate of the baby being born risking unnecessary complications due to delivering in a location without any back up emergency medical equipment which could easily save the life of the mother and/or baby.
The Duggar parents are, IMO, guilty of taking advantage of their own children for years now. It is one thing "helping out when asked" to find the shoes of a younger sibling when preparing to leave the house, it is, however another thing altogether to assign the total responsibility of the daily care, feeding, washing and interacting of these younger siblings to the older ones. That is the responsibility of the parents.. it is THEM who have chosen to continually have more children. Their children, sons included, have no choice in life at all in any area of their lives. That is not good parenting, it is control, and it is something I don't think God endorses either. Those kids are born as their own very separate souls and have the God given right to live out their lives as they see fit for themselves with the good guidance their parents are obligated to provide them. Stifeling, separation and control is NOT what the Almighty has in mind for anyone. It is Jim Bob and Michelle who need to be held accountable here.

I agree completely! I'm sorry if I offend anybody, not my intention at all, but honestly I think it is absolutely crazy & irresponsible to have a homebirth. There are WAY too many things that can go horribly wrong in a matter of seconds. I hear "oh, it's a more pleasant & comfortable experience to have a birth at home." Really? I'm sorry but for the life of my child, I'm setting aside my own personal comforts & wants. That's what being a parent is. Who likes the hospital? Not me, not anybody I know. Who cares. What I DO like is having emergency equipment at the ready in the event that something goes wrong.

As a nurse I would definitely say that Medicaid picked up the tab for Josie. It doesn't matter if you're a millionaire, if the baby is a micro premie or premie that's who picks up the bill. It could be Bill Gates family & they would still pick up the bill for a premie.

"Whats the deal with their health insurance? They never talk about ot and Josie bill would have been close to 1 million m"

JB has mentioned health insurance a few times (IMO when there's criticism floating around & they feel the need to clear things up) So, that being said, he did say something w/ Josie's birth to the effect paying into health insurance can be a big waste of money if you don't need it, but they were glad to have it because it basically paid for everything for Josie except Michelle's emergency helicopter transport, which was like $10,000-$30,000. He also mentioned something shortly after that Bates special a few years ago when Gil said his own family hasn't had health insurance for their last 10 children. JB made sure to give some details about Duggar family health insurance after that, like I think he said they had Blue Cross of Arkansas.

"There is something strange about Anna's speech. I'm not sure if it's a lisp, or what it is"
