This should be interesting. I wonder how JimBoob and Michelle are going to put the spin on it? "Teenage Hormones"? But having got caught and doing it AGAIN, Josh, what were you thinking? What a creep.

Ruby said...

Oh, this interview will be rich. Can't wait to watch them squirm when Kelly starts asking the hard questions. I want to hear her ask them about their connections to the Gothard Cult.

Acorn said...

The one who needs to be interviewed is Josh. HE is the molester. He is also a grown man now and at age 27, ought to speak for himself.
What a coward, having daddy do the talking for him. What a huge baby.

Wednesday said...

Time to spin! Will Fox news help this family of persecuted Christians who have such well behaved kids and don't live off of the government? Or will they actually ask questions that make the Duggars squirm. I know which I'm betting on.

Leslie said...

Ugh...I'm torn on whether to watch or not! As someone who watched FOX News from time to time, I know they Megyn Kelly can be very tough. She's a former attorney, after all. But I can imagine this not being at all the typical Megyn-style interview. FOX has been pretty much in the Duggars' camp up 'til this point, having them on to promote their books, etc. And I'm sure the Duggars are counting on finding a sympathetic, conservative audience there. So it wouldn't surprise me to hear softball questions that allow them to spew all the same drivel we've been hearing for a week and a half now.

And as far as who's being interviewed, I absolutely think Josh should be there and be grilled about what he did. But Jim Bob and Michelle should be right beside him to account for the way they covered for him and, frankly, obstructed justice!

CatMom said...

I really hope that the girls' mental health and safety are addressed in this interview. THEY EXIST. It happened to them.

wampascat said...

I'm willing to bet that the questions have already been shown to the Duggars for approval and the answers and corresponding tears have been well rehearsed. Gag!

Katie's Mom said...

I know that as human beings we can't help but want to hear what Jim Bob & Michelle & their PR machine will come up with on the Fox Show with Megyn Kelly. Please don't give them the ratings they want. Believe me, you will see & hear it all, following when the show airs. We can wait, after all we've known there was something amiss for yrs. What's a few more minutes & that's probably all it will be, what with, "social media." I'm still waiting for something that connects Jim Bob to, "wrongdoing," as I feel there simply has to be something there that we don't fully know, but we suspect. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. It's just that feeling people say you should always pay attention to.

emm said...

Part of me hopes Megyn will get tough and grill them and make them squirm. But another part of me assumes the Duggars have already set a list of "approved questions" that will allow them to regurgitate their same drivel. I expect to hear them say "forgiveness" a lot but not mention Josh's victims at all. it will be the same old show in a different arena.

buckeye said...

can you imagine the intensity of rehearsal that is going on right now between Ma and Pa Duggar and TLC AND the Duggar PR handlers??? the talking points, as always, are prearranged with Fox, engineered to help the Duggars strike just that perfect pitch of parental responsibility, parental moral outrage balanced with just that right touch of 'doing what the Bible instructs to raise up godly chiiildren'. since we know Michelle's acting ability includes eking out those on-cue, on-camera tears, prepare for an Oscar worthy performance by all involved with this 'interview'.

Ma & Pa want to keep that TLC gravy train rolling through Duggarville - what better way to get/keep rich sans a real job required by either parent?

It'll be a good drinking game with a plethora of the usual Duggarisms- enough 'encourage others' to gag a horse, complete with 'humbling selves before God', 'drew us even closer as a family', blah blah, blah. we've heard it all before from them. same song, second verse. we all recognize that loud, obnoxious Duggar clang of hypocrisy.

their evangelical fan base will, of course buy heartily into the Duggar public confessional.

As for me, what I want to hear from these two Biblical Pharisees can be summed up in two simple syllables : Goodbye.

nightmomma said...

I have better things to do with my time than worry about how the Duggars are NOT going to punish Josh (nor will any court or anyone now but God). I have a family of three small kids, I work days as a Home Health nurse and my husband works nights as a Deputy...There is the new TLC show. We have adventures and I'm mostly alone parenting. I deserve a show, or at least a special on TLC. If the Duggars can do it so can I!!

I will search "Duggar" after the interview and know what was said or not said. Plus, I agree, there will be no questions that make them squrim. They can't handle the truth in their own family/cult.

Willow said...

Well, I wrote some emails to Megyn Kelly this morning, but I doubt it will matter. I heard today the interview is AT the Duggar compound. That told me all I needed to know. Anyway, I just saw Megyn on the Bill O'Reilly show and she mentioned her interview on Wed with the Duggars. She said she is flying out to their place on Wed. Morning. She is already spinning for the Duggars, saying that despite Josh's problem, there are other problems, and mentioning the Police Chief. She SEEMED to be against the police chief for releasing the police report. I think she was saying because it "outed" the victims and they didn't want to be "outed". Please understand, I am paraphrasing, not quoting. Anyway, when she said something about ...despite what Josh Duggar did.. Bill O'Reilly threw up his hands and said "We don't know what he did". So.. my friends, the dye is cast, as I was pretty sure it would be. I was just hoping against hope that Megyn Kelly would be the fair journalist she is always asking others to be. Guess that is not going to happen. I am not surprised at Fox News itself, at all. I am, however, kind of surprised that Megyn Kelly has already made up her mind. I asked in one of my emails for her to examine the big picture but I guess not. Duggars win again, or so it seems as of now. I guess I will still hold out a "little" hope until after she actually does the interview.

P.S. Don't you think it is rather odd that she let the cat out of the bag as to what her opinion is already?

Lizzyb said...

I had high hopes for a tough interview from Megyn- I've seen her make the toughest squirm. Now my hopes are fading...She was just interviewed by Bill O'Reilly and even though she says she will have lots of questions, she also said there is a lot that people don't know. Among things, the Police Chief illegally released the police report? Even if true, does this lend sympathy to Josh, Michelle or Jim Bob? We feel sorrow and empathy for the victims certainly but not the culprits!

Captain Crunch said...

I think they are just going to continue to lie and deny.

Wednesday's Child said...

Obviously the Duggars have friends in very high places. My next question is how and when did they get these friends? Does it go even higher than TLC?

Travelightly said...

Lizzyb said, "Among things, the Police Chief illegally released the police report?"

I just caught that, too! It's like she is saying HOW the information came out is more important than WHAT the information was. So I tweeted her and reminded her that In Touch magazine filed a FOIA to get the police report. So not illegal or underhanded in any way. I hope Megyn doesn't spend time on this aspect. Creating doubt is so low.

SMH said...

I cannot understand why people keep on believing that TLC has actually pulled "19 Kids & Counting" from the air. In my own personal opinion, TLC has not actually done anything regarding the show, not even pulled it from airing. The reason why I say TLC has not pulled the show from the air is because the season was already o-v-e-r, so there were not going to be any new episodes, only reruns; and at some point they were going to stop airing reruns. My understanding of a network pulling a tv show from the air is not showing ANY NEW episodes that were scheduled to air until a new notice was given. To give everyone an example: There are no schedule reruns or new episodes of sister-wives at this time but that does not mean that TLC has cancelled or pulled the show. TLC still has several videos on "19 kids and Counting" as well as episodes from other shows that are not currently showing on reruns or have new episodes coming up. So, TLC has lied.

Lizzyb said...

Megyn later clarified on her own show last night that even if In Touch filed to get the police report under the FOIA, Josh was a minor and the report should not have been released. She went on to say that she will ask tough questions but admitted she has never watched 19 Kids and Counting. That is a shame because she won't see the hypocrisy of it all. She did say it was odd that the family would agree to put themselves in the spotlight by doing the show at all because they should have realized that the story could potentially leak at some point in the future.

Syndee said...

And I'll be somehow Michelle will be working in the births and Josie as well.

Leslie said...

SMH...Actually, they didn't lie. TLC played "19 Kids and Counting" reruns nearly every weekday early in the morning as well as around lunchtime. This was even the case between seasons, I assume because it was one of their highest rated shows. And I can vouch for the fact that, just after they pulled the episodes, "To Be Announced" appeared in those slots on my cable's on-screen guide. There were plenty of airings of the show scheduled, which were pulled, but I still say it's ridiculous that they haven't pulled the plug and said it's gone for good!

I don't know why anyone expected better from Megyn Kelly. Foxnews is just a mouthpiece for the Republican Party, not a real news channel. I saw a chart the day after the story broke showing that in twenty four hours nbc and cnn spent two hours on the story while fox spent two minutes. Josh has been photographed with every candidate so this doesn't make any of them look good. Of course its a softball interview. But as I understand Megyn Kelly to be a mother even I am a little surprised at how she's going full throttle on their side. No one seems to care about the victims. Terrible message to send to all of them everywhere.

Syndee said...

Is Megyn going to wear that sleeveless V-neck shirt like she has in the video? Will the boys yell Nike?

Judy said...

This interview is vital for the Duggars. If the public perception sways in their favor, I assume they will keep the show, or some form of it.

Smokey said...

Megan is more worried about the police report being released than the daughters being molested. Some people saw it in a pre interview on another website. I was hoping this would work against the duggars but now I am quite sure it is only going to be a fluff piece. I am so sick of people calling what he did experimenting or exploring or playing doctor. Every time I read about this I feel so angry. I had something like this happen to me so I kind of know what the girls might be going through.

capslock said...

Considering all that has happened, I think the Duggars SHOULD speak out - although JOSH should be doing ALL the talking. TLC should have officially cancelled this show by now. Considering all the advertisers are bailing out, if they haven't cancelled it by now, I don't think they ever will.

I don't feel that Fox is necessarily on the Duggar side, but if Megyn has never seen the show, I think it will be more of a sympathy interview. Bill O'Reilly never has knowledge on anything other than politics. On Casey Anthony, Jodi Arias, etc. he was clueless - so it's no surprise he knows nothing about Josh.

After all, this is a NEWS organization - I can't recall the network interviewing anyone that isn't involved in politics and the closest to that was Chris Kyle's wife (American Sniper).

And if I hear "ALLEGED" one more time, I'm going to scream. JOSH ADMITTED IT - The police report clearly states it. It is FACT, not alleged.

I highly doubt Republican candidates are hinging on Duggar approval and support. The entire family only has seven or so votes that would count considering the age requirement. Just because they posed next to Huckabee and Santorum doesn't mean they determine election nominees.

Mary said...

hey Bill Oreilly why don't You get josh and interview him and we really can find out what he did.

Megyn what kind of reporter are you if you are interviewing the duggars do some home work and watch a few episodes.

Megyn's first question should be why are you here and not Josh

Mindi said...

Agree with all those who have heard Megyn Kellys few comments. I heard her say it was going to be an "interview," not an "interrogation". Guess that tells us something. Yes she is against the police chief. I heard her mention that a couple of times. Definitely trying to tie how ridiculous it is that this scandal is even being mentioned with re: to Republican Candidates. So really...same thing different day the Duggars will prevail!

Acorn said...

Wednesday's child--good point about the Duggars having friends in high places. It is becoming apparent that they are well connected in TLC, but also within the Republican party. I wonder how high these connections go.

June Bug said...

My Hope of her being tough on them is diminishing by the minute considering her stance on the release of the police report, and the Police Chief. Keeping my fingers crossed that I am wrong. Josh needs to be interviewed, and Miss Megyn needs to know more about this train wreck family, she admits she's never seen the show..go figure. I'm afraid the Duggars will win again.

Dar said...

Have to admit it, I purchased In Touch Magazine. There is quite a bit more involved with Josh and his sneaking around. The police reports are in the magazine. Apparently, Joshie felt comfortable enough to even go into the laundry room after one of his sisters. Someone told on him then. Also, he was reading a story when a younger one was on his lap, and he did the same thing. She went crying to her parents. Now, he has not been tried for these things, but they were reported. Of course, a lot of it was stated that the victims did not remember. I suppose they were told to say that by JimBob. This man has not had any therapy, he has not had to make any real amends, so I and fearful for his little daughters. What he was doing was not just playing doctor and it was not just one time. There were several instances and he only stopped, (we think) when he was caught. Don't know how Fox News will spin this, but if it is in their home and there are any children around, you can guarantee, it will be the usual "fluff" piece. Apparently, there are two nights for the interview, Wednesday and Friday. Wow, it boggles the mind. people calling it a "Left-wing persecution. If all things were equal, he would be persecuted in a court of law. Just shows you, how little is thought of females. I will not be watching, but will look for comments here.

Buckeye said...

How many Duggar Dollars get pledged to right wing Repubs like Huckabee? I agree with the poster above, who noted Fox is just a Republican mouthpiece.

further, an interview by an interviewer claiming she has never seen a Duggar episode?? Be prepared to be amazed .... At the sheer volume of steaming, heaping BS about to be laid on Fox viewers with this farcical 'interview'. This is simply TLC paving the way to continue onward with the Duggar drama-mentaries.

Esther said...

Why isn't media scrutinizing how Josh Duggar's police file got leaked? “Josh Duggar’s private personal sealed records have been improperly released." http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/02/fox-news-why-isnt-media-scrutinizing-how-josh-duggars-police-file-got-leaked

Who cares how it got leaked? And why should a molester's file be sealed? (Rhetorical questions.)

Syndee said...

Does anyone know for sure if, even if there is a FOI order, minors' records are not to be released? Maybe that is true and they have a legitimate reason to be mad. I don't know the law. Maybe it's also true that a crime is "alleged" until someone is convicted even if they admitted to it. Look, this guy was their golden boy, he posed with so many politicians. If you see his fall and you feel duped by that whole family and you have to blame someone. YOu don't want to blame yourself that you were fooled, so you go into denial and blame the media.

But if I were the police chief and I knew this report existed all those years with multiple instances of abuse, I might have taken the chance and revealed it even if was illegal. I might figure, well I'm retiring soon anyway, what can they do. It's better to have it out there. As they say, forgiveness is easier than permission.

Bobbi said...

So another lets whistle a happy tune interview with Jim Bob & Michelle. To Megyn Kelly why bother. This interview will be one with minus accountability, authenticity, & honesty. The Duggars will pour God on everything, continue with their limited vocabulary, Michelle will overly use the word precious, talk sbout a servants heart & all of the BS she's always spewed speaking in her Minnie Mouse voice while Jim Bob goes along his merry way interjecting sexual innuendos. I just don't believe that I can stomach this interview. It would be more interesting if the Duggars agreed to an interview on CNN. However that won't happen because the Duggars lives are Not Centered in TRUTH. They truly believe they fool the viewing public. If that behavior I am convinced. The fact that the Duggars may return to TLC or another network is scary. The Duggars are definitely in a CULT & it's through their show they hope to convert us to the Gothard way of life. Intelligent people such as the ones who post at this blog will never fall for the Gothard Tripe. My concern is for those who may be easily swayed & From what I've read on other blogs they are large in number. It is paramount that we who post at this blog Continue the mission to maintain contact with TLC, advertisers & Fox News to educate these people that to continue with the Duggars is very Unhealthy & eventually a dangerous plan for every viewer. Sorry about my rant, it just spilled out & I had to share. Thanks.

Susie said...

I think all of the dollars for these bozo politicians come from Bill Gothard, not the Duggars.

Elspeth said...

The city attorney reviewed the request for the police report and said a redacted version could be released. Why aren't they mentioning that? It's a police report and not a "juvenile record."

Gnomeathome said...

Sadly, I don't think this interview will answer any real questions. They will spew well rehearsed BS, drag out precious Josie yet again, vomit about forgiveness and protect the golden fatted oldest calf at all costs. The whole situation makes me sick. I feel sorry for the older girls still home and deeply concerned for all the younger ones as well. Josh, you are a despicable, nasty and hypocritical piece of work. Get real help, a real life and a clue. Anna and your children deserve better. You have NO clue as to the lifelong pain your molestations have caused. You are not the victim. You are in fact a serious criminal and should be serving time.

Ruby said...

I think the republican candidates value Jim Bob and Michelle for their viewers and followers. They "make nice "to them to garner the uber right wing Christian vote. I don't think they necessarily respect the Duggars and their religion, they just look at Jim Bob as their useful idiot. They will chew him up and eventually spit him out if they have no more use for him. He is just simple enough to believe that he is popular and appreciated, hence his giant ego.

Andrea said...

According to the EW article, Megyn said: “This isn’t going to be a cross-examination of a family. It’s going to be an interview. I want to hear their story,” she said. “And I think America wants to hear their story now.”

Friends, let's just give up now. This is not the hard ball interview we've all been waiting for. This is going to be a joke. It's going to be the same old, same old rehashed. Republicans think that we're after the Duggar's because we're Democrats. Really? How about we just dislike the hypocrisy of the Duggars and leave the GOP out of it! I won't be watching Fox News tomorrow. The only Duggar's I care to see are Jana, Jill, Jessa, Ginger and Joy-Anne. Jim Bob and Michelle appear to have them on lockdown . . .will we ever know how they truly feel about what happened to them?

Katie's Mom said...

This interview reminds me of when so many politicians have been involved in scandals in the past & after a few days with their PR Machine working 24/7 they are ready to face the public. This is exactly what's happening with the Duggars. It's only less than 2 weeks & everything for a return to the safety of TLC is in place. Megyn Kelly has as her main agenda: Who illegally released the report. This should tell anyone anything they want to know about this "interview." Somehow, someway Jim Bob has been able to reverse this scandal & is all ready for the next season of 19 Kids & Counting. I know sad but true.

Missy said...

Great post Bobbi! You speak for so many of us who have had the saccharin from that show infused until we're ready to overdose on it. It would be good bye & good luck if the Duggars were to truly be "cancelled," not just removed during what is their hiatus. Nothing lost for the Duggars. Seems like other sponsors are waiting to see how this plays out.

Dee said...

This is all so very sad. I've just about decided to chalk all this up to the fact that life, indeed, is not fair and that sometimes the bad guys win.
I don't hold out any hope that the interview will bring about any real change. Those who support the Duggars will be even more in love with their darlings and those of us who are horrified by what has occurred will be left shaking our heads.
One small measure of comfort for me is that this stink will never be lifted from Josh.
He'll have his own little 'Hanoi Jane' situation going on.
He'll have a metaphorical asterisk and 'Child Molester' attached to his name wherever he goes from now on.
I look forward to hearing the rundown from those brave enough to watch this mess. I just wouldn't be able to stomach it.

Gina said...

How is it that this family is able to provide for themselves? Does Jim Bob work ? Or is it the kids that provide for them? It would appear to be somewhat overwhelming to having that many children in a home and still want more. I do hope God above helps them deal with the problems that they have regarding , their son, Josh and the aftermath of what he did.

Just watched Megyn Kelley tonight. I'm going to be very disappointed with tomorrow's interview based on what I saw. Tonight, all the focus for 10 minutes was about the illegally released police report with 10 seconds at the end w/ Megyn saying "Now we're not saying what Josh did was right" (something to that effect).

Now Jim Boob & Michelle have THE PERFECT STORY:

Because this police file was illegally released, their daughters and family are simply DEVASTATED and can't go on because this trauma is revisited and they all are NOW in desperate need of counseling and/or therapy. ***But PLEASE keep us on TV!!***

ALL THE FOCUS WILL BE OFF OF JOSH AND THEIR COVER UP and now they have the perfect story and ammunition to be the victims in all this - harassed by the media and now victimized from the police.

If TLC (The TOUCHING LITTLE CHILDREN) Channel doesn't cancel this show, I have no hope.

Summertime said...

Megyn Kelly keeps talking about how they unlawfully released Josh Duggars record. Since he never actually was arrested or went to court is it a record or just report? If it's not a criminal record, I would think it's a different issue .

Mindi said...

Megyn Kelly actually said it wasn't going to be a; "cross examination," but an "interview." So I was wrong when I quoted her as saying that she said it wasn't going to be an "interrogation," but an "interview." Just wanted to be accurate. Something I don't believe the Duggars will be.

Ginger said...

Plesae help me out posters. Does anybody believe there will be anything said about proper counseling for the victims? Obviously Josh has gone merrily on his way in life. You know remaining pure, keeping his heart for the one God had for him. What a bunch of drivel. I want to hear exactly what the counseling was, did it involve professional counseling by a licensed therapist? What about the victims. They don't have to be named, but we can hear whether there was therapy for anyone involved. Megyn Kelly could never understand why people are so upset if she hasn't watched the show. She has no idea what pressure has been put on the kids in that family to remain pure..no hand holding with the person they are dating or only after they are engaged. I keep replaying in my mind that scene in Nepal when JB just about pushed Jill out of Derick's reach. It was ridiculous, just as bad as when he asked if the had a "good chaperone," just about an hour before they took their vows.. These are things Megyn Kelly needs to know in order to understand the outrage.

Rachel said...

Please do NOT watch the interview. It will be on the Internet as soon as it airs. They are looking for ratings because ratings = $$$$

I, too, am sick of hearing the word "allegations" when Josh (and family!) admitted to it.

I wish Pierce Morgan would give the interview. He said the first thing he would ask Jim Bob & Michelle is "how could they sit back and allow the incest molestation to go on under their roof under their consent" - those are not the exact words he said but pretty close, I was so flustered hearing allegations, allegations (!!) and Megan Kelly talk about it's an interview not an interrogation.

Willow said...

I agree with all of you. I am really sort of in shock. Its just so sad to see a high profile television journalist/network REFUSE to be "fair and balanced". The facts are right there and they are ignoring them. And the reason why is just frightening. I'm sad that the Duggars/Gothard/certain politicians, etc., are making Christians look bad/ignorant etc.

Sunday said...

My prediction for the interview tonight is that Jim Bob will make several sexual innuendos and perverted comments and then laugh at himself because he thinks he's so clever.

CatMom said...

Tonight's questions will be "playing softball" because it's Fox News, and they are going to favor the Duggars. I honestly believe that Boob and J'Chelle will not even utter the word "molestation" because they think that will infringe too much on their precious predator son. Questions I'd like to see asked and answered would be:

1). How are the girls? Did they get help? Are they getting any help now?

2). Did you question ALL of your children, including the boys, to see if anyone else was molesting or BEING molested...even by someone other than Josh?

3). How is Anna doing? Did she REALLY know about this ahead of time, or was it glossed over as a "sin" at the time of engagement?

4). Why on EARTH did you go on television in 2006 knowing that Josh was a molester and then pretend to be higher in purity standards than most of the viewers?

5). Why isn't Josh here to answer for himself?

Always said...

Anyone else think remaining sponsors of the show are just waiting it out until everything dies down & then they will review the numbers & make their decision? That' the only thing that will truly keep the Duggars off the TV, no sponsors. I'm thankful for the ones that stepped up immediately, but not holding out much hope that the remaining sponsors that still haven't jumped ship will eventually do the same. They are probably just waiting it out. It would have been interesting to see how TLC would have handled, the hugely anticipated episode of the birth of Jill's baby, & this story breaking simultaneously, as opposed to while the show was on hiatus & in reruns. Makes you wonder, what with Jim Bob blabbing all over the place about their show being the most popular show for TLC. Was anyone able to keep the release of the report delayed for just a little longer, say until after the big birth episode..just wondering?

Yes it is absolutely that feeling you get, that there is something not quite right here.

I'm with Rachel. Will not give them the ratings they want. Watching the interview transfers into dollars & the sponsors that have not yet abandon ship & are still on the line may never abandon ship. It's been said over & over again everyone will know everything within a short time. I can wait.

Libby Yahn said...

In the media no one has posed the question asking Josh and Anna how they would feel and if they found out that one of Mackenzies friends fathers had molested his sisters or in general anyone during his teen years. The even bigger question would then be would Josh and Anna ever allow Mackenzie to spend the night at that friends house? With the morals Anna and Josh have presented to us the viewers during the past few years, it seems that they would not allow Mackenzie to have sleep overs at that friends house! I just feel like the duggars have so many opinions and beliefs that always contradict their words and actions. I would like to honestly know how Anna and Josh will respond to Mackenzie when her friends parents won't allow their children to play with Mackenzie and definetly not allow their children to spend the night at Mackenzies house because not only is her father a molester but into incest.

Please note that Fox News does NOT pay for interviews so for those who are concerned about the Duggars getting $$$ from this, they most likely will not.

There won't be any squirming. They will know the questions beforehand and have their answers prepared. This is no hard nosed interview; this is a friendly "reporter" who is going to serve up easy harmless questions.

JimBob is shrewd. It's much more difficult to ask tough and embarrassing questions of someone when they have just graciously invited you into their home. Mistake #1 was not insisting the interview be held in the studio or via satellite.

I am Choosing to boycot the Megyn Kelly interview with JB & M. I refuse to contribute to the ratings of Fox News. Pleased to share that I am no longer a Republican. I cannot support a party that does not accept everyone for who they are or for whom they choose to befriend or marry.

MaggieB said...

While I am completed angered, disgusted and horrified about what Josh did and believe there are many adults that are also accountable for letting it go on, I also believe it's fair to talk about illegal release of sealed records. It's not to protect Josh or his lovely parents. It's to protect the minors involved. If you think about it, would you want your daughter's court records on something similar available to the public, even if the child's name is redacted? This is a bad, bad situation and I am really worried about the victims. If in addition to the big issues, there is a discussion about those documents, I don't think that's a bad thing. I guess we'll see how many important issues the interview does or does not focus on.

No news organizations "pay" for interviews. But the participants in some scandals have made upwards of a million on the sale of over-seas licensing deals.

Absolutely Julie, you hit the nail on the head. That interview should not be taking place on the Duggar compound!!

Syndee said...

I don't feel so dismayed about the scripted interview as some of you. For one, as was pointed out Josh will have the scarlet "M" (molester) on his forehead the rest of his life. Also, the more these guys speak up, the more they are just digging a hole for themselves. Any defense lawyer would have told them to keep quiet and not say a word for weeks or months - but apparently their egos got in the way. Third, if you read the comments on the fox news website where they posted Megyn's pre-interview comments, virtually all the reader comments are against the family - almost no defenders even on the Fox news website.

I believe the tide is turning the more people digest what has happened, and every time they open their mouths people see just how shameless they are.

I saw a preview clip on the interview on FB. Looks like the Duggars have the list of questions in their hands. I doubt that any good will come from the questions being asked in this interview. But hopefully enough people will be frustrated by the stupidity of what is asked that TLC will have no other choice than to keep the show off the air.

There will never be an issue involving MacKenzie staying overnight at her friends homes. What friends? The Duggars keep to themselves. Mac's friends are her aunts & uncles..the Duggar kids. They will be trotting home from DC to take up residence in AR near the Duggars. Once when they lived in AR, they showed Anna taking Mac & Michael to story hour at the library, but that was just once. They then moved to DC. They then showed Anna taking the kids to a "mommy & me" play group. Everyone thought it would be the start of the kids having normal relationships with other children, but it appeared to be a one time only deal. I believe Anna stays very close to home & the only playmates they have are their siblings, or when in AR the Duggar kids. Of course we don't know if the Waller kids (Anna's sister children)will be staying overnight at Josh & Anna's home in the future. Of course David Waller is in the top eschealon of the Gothard Cult, i.e. forgiveness etc. I suppose that might be possible.

My husband has stated that the Duggar audience is almost totally female & that they will absolutely never stand for a show associated with any type of molestation charges. I can only hope this time he's correct.

If the Duggars truly do have "their list of questions in hand," that is so wrong on so many levels. If you're going to give an interview, just do it & forget this nonsense of preapproved questions. It makes a mockery of the whole thing& it further hurts the victims.

As to the improperly "leaked" police report...if I am understanding the timeline, the police report was not made until December, 2006 when the Oprah people contacted the Arkansas police. Josh was born in March 1988 which made him 18 at the time of the report. So while the report is about his actions as a minor, he was legally an adult by the time the report was made. It was a report regarding acts committed by a juvenile, but was not a juvenile record. Or am I missing something?

Saw a preview on THE FIVE that will air tonight at 9pm:

Question (Megyn): How did you respond to him (Josh) when he came to you? Michelle says "...so much grief in our hearts...we're failures...here we raise our kids to do what's right, yet, one of our children made some very baa-ad choices and as a parent we were devastated."

Then the question: Has the backlash been greater because people object to who you are and what you stand for/Are your Christian beliefs at issue here?" Jim Bob's response: "Christianity is not about being perfect - it's about being forgiven...we struggle every day."

GREG GUTFIELD (Fox Correspondent on The Five) doesn't buy it. So wish HE did the interview. His response to this is: "No, there's a backlash against them because they have a sick son who molested maybe his siblings and was protected by them. That's why. Confession for some people is the way out of heinous activity. Sick creeps are saying I've been forgiven - Isn't it enough? They are using religion as a shield and that's disgusting."

Greg gets it, but not many others seem to - especially on this network.

I don't think this is an attack on Christianity - this is an attack on ONE family that happens to be CHRISTIANS and have proven to be complete liars and hypocrites. The Duggars spew condemnation (in a VERY PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE WAY) that God forbid we women show some skin, wear pants, kiss before marriage and the list goes on and on and on. Not to mention the hatred toward Homosexuals or Transgenders that they will molest our children (Michelle's words - NOT mine) when THEY ARE THE ONE that had a molester living under their own roof with all the Christian values and morals!!!!

Megyn looks like she's asking questions, but not knowledgeable enough about the Duggars hypocrisy to challenge them and their responses. This is PART ONE. I guess there's a Part Two.

Based on the two clips I saw, it will be a lot of Michelle's baby voice and Jim Bob saying that no Christians are perfect. Fantastic (sarcasm). And TLC wants to keep this train on the tracks? Sick about it.

By the way, I am a Christian and a Republican and I HATE the Duggars.

I saw on local news an outtake of Megyn's interview, where she asks the question,"this was a young boy, "what did he say when he came to you?" Michelle, "oh we were devastated, here we thought we were good parents raising good children." I'm para paraphrasing of course, but she never did answer the direct question. The Dugars use the "D" word, yes you guessed it: They were devastated!

Watching the "E" network which just aired a clip of the Duggars upcoming interview with Jzb & M. In her best Minnie Mouse voice Michelle said JB & she were failures as parents. Also more investigation of the molestation scandal via police report was revealed.

Dee said...

I cannot believe that Jim Bob & Michelle put Jill & Jessa right out there. What kind of parents are they, or are they just TV stars? Guess they won't outright mention Joy as she is still a minor. What a mess!

Too Tragic said...

I don't have TV so won't be watching, but I can predict what will take place. This interview is about one thing only and that's damage control, emphasis on the word "control," so the "show can go on. JB's most prominent personality characteristic is control. He's a pathological control maniac. I'm sure that TLC hired a PR firm to coach JB on how to get back his control of public opinion, and he'll say whatever he thinks will make that happen, no matter who or what he throws under the bus such as the police officer friend and the church folks. If it all works and the public lays down at his feet as I predict it will at least initially, TLC will be elated and Jim Bob and Michelle will high five each other because the gravy train and adoration can continue. I'm certain that the reason Jill and Jessa are going to be part of this is because they selfishly want their spinoff so they can become wealthy without working, and they have to display how recovered they are (I'm sure they never processed their abuse so perhaps they do feel fine). They're also selling their souls for money, just like Daddy. We saw the girls' greediness in their wedding registries and their big, cheap weddings. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but with immature Jim Bob as the dictator, I don't think the girls ever had a chance. However, any vestige of respect I may have had for their husbands will be totally gone if they go forward with a TV show after this.

I'm looking forward to finding out if JB can talk about sex and the human body using adult vocabulary and biology terminology, and without snickering or blushing. I also wonder if he can perch on a sofa without gripping Michelle's hand or get through a show without kissing her. If he can, then the PR team was amazing.

Erin said...

Safeguards at night. Could you expound on exactly what that was Michelle? They wear their clothes to bed and several share the bed

And you don't let the girls sit on the big boys laps. Yet, with Michelle standing right there it shows Hanny crawling up on Mr. Jim and was sitting with with her legs around his neck.

Erin said...

What? They are acting like poor Josh was the victim here!

Allison said...

The interview was basically a repetition of everything we have already heard from their public statements and just a retelling of the timeline. The only "new" thing I really learned was that they did have Josh and the girls see a real professional counselor, which is good.

But it's sort of ridiculous at this point to pretend to protect the girls. The young girl they referenced was Joy. Megyn even went so far as to say the girl's age was single digit. That could ONLY be Joy. Geez louise. I was also surprised that they did go into detail about what Josh did as far as touching. The previews made it seem like they weren't going to talk about the specifics, but they definitely did. I just can't stand that they don't seem to think the girls were affected, just Josh. That the girls were "asleep" and didn't know anything. The police report clearly says otherwise!

Elspeth said...

The only reason they had licensed, professional counseling was because Oprah ratted them out and they had a child protection case.

Erin said...

A babysitter was one of the victims????

And yes I picked up on how their story did not match the police report.

Ruby said...

So where was Josh? The sisters showed their faces to the camera but Josh remained hiding somewhere.

capslock said...

In a nutshell:

Jim Bob talked to other families and those certain family members did much worse things than Josh did. Opening your heart, sharing your heart, we have boundaries, a safe place, blah blah blah. And, like I called it days ago: BLAME THE POLICE for what they did releasing the records of minors is the REAL STORY not the one about Josh; not to mention the daughters being re-victimized all over again. And what Josh did was "BAA-AD." That's all. Just bad.

Also in the "interview" Jim Boob blaming the magazines for making this scandal so huge. (Yes, Jim Bob the SAME MAGAZINE that put you all on the COVER at least FOUR times making you even more infamous has an evil "AGENDA" against you.) They brought this on themselves, and they TOTALLY dodged the judgmental comments about LBTG community claiming Josh is NOT a pedophile because he was a MINOR. Anyone over the age of 16 is. Cute.

And, the cherry on top: JESSA & JILL speaking out tomorrow. Jill in tears. Why am I not surprised? They are now as addicted to the cameras and attention as Jim Bob is. OK - they are upset. I get it. Rightfully so. But now this gives TLC the "give the wonderful VICTIMS their own show!!!" green light.

I caved in and watched. They kept saying over and over how it was taken care of. It was only touching through clothing, well maybe a few times under clothing. Lots of people have been through worse. Poor poor Joshie, everyone is picking on him and slandering him. Mullet tried really hard to cry, but those tears didn't come. She kept staring up at her beloved Jim Boob with her doe eyes and talking like a little baby. They are vomitous, I can't believe the girls will be on Friday. In the preview, Jill was saying it wasn't fair that everyone knows, they can't do this to us. Well guess what Jillymuffin, your BROTHER is the one who wronged you. I'm sorry they have to go through this, but they are placing the blame on the wrong people

Wowsas said...

I'm just going to say what many are likely thinking...I think the "inappropriate touching" aka molestation was much more than touching the girls in their sleep. I don't buy for a second that not one sister in a shared bedroom woke up to see what was going on as he did what he did. Maybe all of them in a room were very heavy sleepers, but with those numbers, I doubt it. I think they have thought up every way possible to minimize what happened, which is understandable in their frame of reference to minimize any wrong doing by the girls. I will also say that I understand their parental instincts to protect Josh, but I also think they may have dismissed it as "boys being boys", and we better get him married off as soon as possible because he has "temptations". In fact, I vaguely remember something on one of the forums that one of the parents did state that they saw the need to marry him off asap to satiate his "temptations", but I cannot remember where I saw that. Maybe it was speculation.

Too Tragic said...

I didn't watch, but how could it have been a certified counselor they sent the children to. He/she would have been legally bound to report molestation to the authorities. And did Jim Bob and Michelle also go to counseling? If not, then it was not thorough counseling.

Tanya T said...

Personally I thought the interview was a lot of creative Diversion on the part of the Duggars. JimBob and Michelle are now trying to play the "victims" as in, How could ️️those awful police officials release those sealed Juvenile records and shouldn't our haters be more angry about the huge breach of trust, than the bad mistake our Young son made so many years ago? Divert, divert,divert......it was pathetic. Previews for the 2nd part of the interview shows a sobbing Jill and emotional Jessa talking about how hurt they are that people they trusted ( police authorities) let the story leak. Again I think they will stir up a fire of Duggar supporters by diverting off the molestation and onto the Evil doers who are out to bring them down because of their Faith. I am willing to bet, they get their show back on the air after these interviews!

Stacy said...

Take a shot ever time you hear "his heart"

K.A.W said...

Wow. I must say they played this very well. And then having 2 of the victims give an emotional interview about the information being released was a nice touch. So all is now forgiven and the show WILL go on.

Please don't take it as I'm condemning Jessa and Jill for the interview. They are the TRUE victims and the only ones I have sympathy for. I'm just so pissed at how their parents and Josh are also able to make themselves out to be victims. The person who leaked the report had an agenda against the family, the police officer had an agenda against the family when he said they only told him about one instance, the media and the public who are upset and want the show cancelled had an agenda against them, blah blah blah. And so now they are thinking of suing. Unbelievable. They have managed to turn it all around so that now people will feel sympathy for them and will most likely not want the show to be cancelled.

Oh let's not forget that comment from Jim Bob. A pedophile is an adult praying on children. Someone over the age of 16. Josh was 15 so he was a child praying on a child. I'm paraphrasing here but I could not believe that even came out of his mouth. I guess that makes it okay since he was only 15. And I don't even believe for one second that if Josh was 16 or 17, Michelle or Jim Bob would have handled things any differently.

Too Tragic said...

Sounds like they're continuing to lie, to themselves and to the public. Light touches? How do they know that? Were they watching and didn't stop it? But ultimately, a touch on the genitals of a child in such circumstances is still molestation.

Tanya T said...

Capslock, I believe the magazine that JimBob is referring to is Intouch weekly ( gossip magazine) and not the beloved People magazine that seems to worship the Duggars.

JSierra said...

Two parts stuck with me. 1. Jim Bob minimizing the molestations by saying the girls were "asleep" and didn't even know what was going on until he and Michelle spoke to them about it. 2. Jim Bob and Michelle saying the girls didn't know the touching was inappropriate, they wouldn't have told on josh because they didn't realize it was wrong. That to me speaks volumes, especially coupled with the remark that molestations are common in their circles. It goes back to my though of monkey see monkey do. Everyone else does it, so why wouldn't Josh? I fast forwarded through most parts, it made me sick to watch.

Jim Bon and Michelle did a great job of admitting that they knew about the abuse, let it happen, and just hoped he would stop. They flat out said he told them several times before they finally sent him to the construction yard. What kind of parents can sleep at night knowing their son is abusing their young daughters in the next room? How can they look at the girls the next day knowing that they were basically offering them as playthings on a shiny silver platter? If authorities weren't investigating before, they will be now. The Duggars shot themselves in the foot over and over and over again. Maybe this interview will be a good thing in revealing the horrific parents they are and getting someone to finally step in and help the rest of the kids.

Bobbi said...

Leslie said...

Oh, where to begin!?! Yup...Everything they said contradicted those police reports. As I recall, one of the girls—likely Jill—told them what had happened. Josh didn't go to them on his own! And what about the stuff about the girls waking up realizing he was taking their blankets and such? They were absolutely conscious of what happened! And didn't Michelle come right out and admit to the police rthat Josh hadn't had any real couseling? Not what she said tonight!

And the stuff about the girls not even knowing what inappropriate touching was? Gimme a break! I remember being probably somewhere in the 2-4 age range and having/watching a particular Winnie the Pooh video about stranger danger that discussed the topic! Not that the Duggar girls would've been allowed to watch such "worldly" things (Especially as I remember it featuring music and dancing! The horror!), but the point is, any decent parent teaches their child about those things in an age appropriate way as soon as they can comprehend it! So yeah...Big parenting fail if there's any truth there!

And yup...Still all about Josh! Even flipping questions about the girls around to focus on him and how horribly he's been affected! Sickening!

Oh, and you've talked to so many families who've dealt with similar things, have you? Really speaks volumes about your cult and its values! Can't say I know of any families out here in the big, bad, evil world who've had anything like this happen. Not that people don't keep it hidden, but...

And how exactly did InTouch Magazine twist or manipulate anything? What I saw was an unedited, if redacted, police report detailing what the victims said happened. No spin, no manipulation of facts. So don't even try to talk about how they attacked you!

And finally, pouring God all over everything! Yes, I believe in a loving, forgiving God, but I also don't believe that negates having to face the consequences of your actions here on Earth. And I also don't think He looks too kindly on people who hurt children! And I have a sneaking suspicion He's getting sick of being these people's excuse for absolutely reprehensible behavior! So, no, Jim Bob and Michelle...This isn't an attack on you because of your Christianity or conservative beliefs. This is the general public seeing your true, hypocritical colors and being rightly disgusted! You can add me to the list of conservative Catholics who can't stand this family!

Do the Duggars not know the report is public? Statements like "the girls did not know it was happening" or "after counseling it never happened again" are direct contradictions to what was released in the report. The fact that Jim Bob and Michelle are continuing to lie, is purely disgusting.

I am glad Megyn kept bringing it back to the girls when JB and M kept trying to focus on Josh. Josh is not the victim in this case. Yes, juveniles' names are protected under the FOIA unless they are charged as an adult. Which, in this case no charges were filed (obviously).

I feel sorry for the girls more than anything. I am relieved to hear they received counseling from licensed, professional counselors. But this is the unfortunate price of fame. After a while it is NOT on your terms anymore and you are "fair game." We should all be so glad we're not so famous people are ferreting out the things we would rather not come up. Nothing like getting your family dirty laundry aired coast to coast.

Hubsters comes to their defense, but I tell him the reality they allowed to be portrayed in the show isn't reality at all. This is what happened when you parade a carefully scripted life without acknowledging the struggles This is the main issues I've had with them all along. They have seemed too "together" and the only "hard times" we have seen are with Josie and Jubilee, both incredibly hard times for a family but other than that we don't see much of a struggle. No jealousy between the kids; an occasional sass-back from a little one, but that's it.

Syndee said...

"2. Jim Bob and Michelle saying the girls didn't know the touching was inappropriate, they wouldn't have told on josh because they didn't realize it was wrong"

It's funny thought, if you read the police report, that when the girls were asked to identify parts of the body (apparently some kind of standard questioning), they go, "head, neck," then, "private area." The next, "head, neck, breasts," then "private area." So if they were taught the phrase private area, what did it mean, it's not for them to touch themselves or for a male doctor to touch, but it's ok for the brother to touch. Somehow I don't get that from the phrase.

Lesleigh said...

OMG.....SPARE ME!

1.) "it was JUST touching, through their clothes. It wasn't rape or anything." WHAT?

2.) "We talked to other families (no doubt Gothard/ATI), and they had similar and even worse things happen." Are ALL baby-boy-Gothardites perverts?

3.) "Later on, in 2003, it happened again, and some were asleep and some were not. He touched their breasts, over their clothing and a few times under them." They did NOT address that the police report stated that Josh admitted to touching their vaginal areas!

4.) The fifth girl identified was a babysitter. She had to be "called and told what happened, even though she didn't know that she had been touched."

5.) Megyn Kelly stated that the youngest girl would not be named, but that she "was a single-digit age", which would be JoyAnna.

6.) "All of the children got counseling from a certified, licensed and professional counselor." It is interesting to note that no such person/persons have stepped forward to confirm that they treated the Duggar children. Not that they would HAVE to, because those records could NEVER be released.

7.) "Josh came to us crying, and told us what he had done." The police report stated that he was caught coming out of the girls bedroom.

I think Megyn did the best that she could in speaking with JimBoob and Mullet. She tried to push them on some issues, and they just skirted around every single question, quoting from the Bible. I suspect, as others have said, that the questions were pre-approved and lawyers were there to make sure that the agenda was strictly adhered to.

SOOOOO, JimBoob and Mullet think that "someone has an agenda against them." They even insinuated that the Police Chief had this report release planned, prior to retiring on June 30th! They hinted that this could also be God's way of "helping them to help others going through a similar problem!"

After talking to my daughter, who IS a lawyer, this is her take on the police report. It was a REPORT. There was no investigation or charges filed. IT WAS A REPORT. There was no juvenile record to seal or expunge later. Whether the escalation of the issue was started by the Oprah Winfrey Show or an over-zealous reporter at InTouch, the police report COULD be released through a FOIA request, which is exactly what happened.

I WILL be watching on Friday, to see what Jill and Jessa have to say. Jill referred to themselves as "victims"......but their Daddy and Momma sure didn't!

So, let me get this straight. Jessa and Jill don't remember anything that Josh did to them, but Megyn is going to devote a whole hour to hear them talk about it? Of course, most of it will be bashing the release of the report and how unethical the media and police are.

It's truly amazing that Josh did all this damage but he's the one that WON'T talk. I always thought Josie the miracle baby was the chosen favorite - not Josh.

I cannot believe that the Duggars are going to sacrifice their daughters by having them crying their eyes out about what someone did to them by releasing this report. To see them being presented as sacrificial lambs is ridiculous. Jill has the tears down second only to Michelle. I absolutely feel for all the victims but, they are being re-victimized this time by Jim Bob & Michelle. The Duggars are trying to get all attention on the victims & get themselves & Josh off the hook in this mess. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by this ..unless it's a continuation of 19 Kids & counting or a spin-off for the girls. I also don't believe what Jim Bob said about the police chief being unwilling to even shake hands with Josh at a past event. She supposedly didn't even know about this issue at the time she refused to shake hands with Josh. And yes they are considering a law suit. Not a surprise at all. Jill & Jessa will be on National TV crying their eyes out on Friday. Of course, no Josh sightings.

This was just about what I expected with the exception of re-victimizing the victims. It truly is amazing that the right PR machine & # off dollars spent can reverse an entire story or situation. Duggars prevail!

I truly think that anyone who believes Jim Bob & Michelle that the girls had "professional counseling," is just crazy. The Duggars don't go outside for these things, they are handled within their own home or at best with the church elders ( I do wonder where they get their wisdom from)I think that was an outright lie. Whatever the girls do say, remember they are now under such pressure they will have it memorized rather than just paper in hand as Michelle had.

Wondering said...

If there had been "professional counseling," as stated by the Duggars, although the therapist could not come forward on their own, would there be nothing stopping the Duggars from revealing who it was & they could simply sate yes they had provided services for the family, without revealing the names? I don't know the answer but just wonder if that's possible.

I watched this interview last night. and they said their son came to them and he did touch different girls with their clothes on each time. This could be very hard for any mother to take would you want your son to tell you that he is touching girls in wrong places no. and they did mention that he did touch one girl who was in the single digits. They felt they had to remove him from the home. They send him to the best place possible they thought as parents. I would do the same as them. As a Christian I would want him to go to a Christian based place. And do I think he is a sexual predictor no. Does he need Jail time no. Going to Jail is not always going to solve the problem. I think they did the best they could for their son even if we think it is wrong. They do need to cancel this show.

I love this blog and enjoy reading everyone's thoughts on the Duggars.

Can't say I'm surprised by the interview. JB & Michelle have always been so smug, holier than thou. Think they are smarter than the rest of us by how they have duped the viewers as well as all these people who volunteer/give donations to the family. It's all a sham. The police report is public record and if you haven't read it, it's worth the time to do so. Very sad but once you see the facts for your own eyes it's very insulting to hear the victims & Josh received professional counseling, the victims didn't know, Josh confessed (when in the report it says it was reported by the victims to the parents on more than one occasion)

The whole thing is just sickening. I couldn't even watch JB & Michelle, I just listened while clipping coupons. They have no remorse and I hope they sue In Touch BC they will lose! It's a police report that they all have interviews to on record. I can only pray that these interviews are "shooting themselves in the foot" since it can now be investigated that they publically lied over the police report.

Please do not read this the wrong way, My heart aches for the victims, but I agree with earlier comments that it seems Jill & Jessa are just as fame/camera hungry as JB. They want a spinoff. They want the big paycheck from TLC. Jill's tears and comments in that clip rubbed me the wrong way. I know she's being fed what to say but she should be happy that since Josh wasn't punished in the legal system at least now he will be publically shamed forever for what he did. There are millions of victims of incest/molestation and if this story could help 1 victim it would be worth it for this story to have come forward. I think Jill's tears were only because she wanted everyone to believe she was this person she portrayed on TV, basically perfect, pure & better than any of us non Gothard women. Being a victim of molestation or rape (which I am a victim, FYI) does NOT make you "damaged goods" or any "less than" etc. which makes me feel they did NOT receive proper counseling because mine was court mandated and that was a lot of what was discussed (my feelings about myself)

Jessa seemed very angry which was odd since they always have to be so cheery and sweet. I think Jessa has held this in all these years and suppressed her anger, it has hardened her. Another big flag she didn't reveive proper counseling.

I will watch Jill & Jessa but wish we would hear from Josh or at least Anna. Thank you kindly for reading my comments look forward to everyone's thoughts! Hugs :)

Jill and Jessa's preview was just as bad as the parents. Hope everyone that watches sees thru the obvious PR spin they give not to mention out and out lies that contradicts the police report. This family only cares about money. It's terrible Josh caused the pain he did but after hearing the parents say the girls didn't know because they were asleep but then when asked when awake they said the girls didn't know it was bad touch.

I think there was more going on in that house besides Josh. Jim Bob getting a little heated when she called him a pedophile made me think it's because he is one.

Lizzyb said...

Ok- I admit- I watched the whole thing. Blood boiling, so scripted..."the girls didn't even know what was going on...". In these sickos eyes, this meant it was just a child-Josh- doing something bad but no one really got hurt. But now according to Michelle, the girls are going to be MORE traumatized by this news coming out and they are looking into a possible lawsuit. On The Kelly File Facebook page, the comments are running about 50/50 for/against the Duggars.

Why are the girls being interviewed? If they are truly traumatized by this coming out, then shut up, keep off social media and this too shall pass, as they say. I want to see that smarmy, arrogant Josh interviewed but he is being protected as usual by his parents. I suspect that Jill and Jessa were pressured to go on to keep the gravy train going and also to keep themselves relevant as there has been a rumor that if 19 Kids is cancelled, TLC may do another show with the older kids.

So Jim Bob and Michelle are outraged at the "tabloid" with an "agenda" that released a supposedly sealed police report and "victimized" their daughters all over again. If you put your family out there for all the world to see on reality TV, and if they regularly grace the cover of People magazine, then you've made yourselves fair game. It's like the old saying: "If you lie down with dogs, you may get up with fleas."

First of all, where was Josh? Second, it makes me SICK that they basically said that, because the girls were asleep and too young to know what was happening, it was okay because Josh told on himself? So molesting an infant is okay because they don't comprehend what is happening? They are disgusting. My husband's impression of Mullet's dumb open mouthed stare at Jimmy Boob was the only highlight of that farce. Megan Kelly is a dolt.

Just turned the TV on and it was still on Fox from last night. They were discussing the interview and had Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist, on. He said he watched the whole thing and was shocked at how in complete denial Michelle and Jim Bob were. He said the girls most likely knew and remembered but didn't want to say anything and the parents covered it up. He said if you have a predisposition for this, it just doesn't go away by sending your son to a construction camp or wherever they sent him. Of course the morning "team" tried to act sympathetic to them but Ablow would have none of that. He said it was a " conspiracy of denial".

Someone who has been conspicuously absent in 19KAC showed up in last night's interview: Jesus was mentioned twice. This has been my main beef with the Duggars--they have used a very public platform to project a very warped view of what it means to be a Christian. People watching the Duggar's show must assume following Christ means living debt-free, foregoing birth control, eschewing all forms of media in the home (yet ironically allowing yourself to be put on public display on TV and in People magazine), following arcane courtship customs, avoiding any form of public education, etc. No, no, no! If those are your convictions, fine, but don't major on the minors. Being a Christian means accepting the gift of salvation by grace through faith, and then living your life loving God and your neighbor.

I agree with the person above who said persecution=being beheaded for your beliefs, and there are plenty of Christians around the world who pay a very high price for their loyalty to Christ. A friend once observed that sometimes Christians are persecuted for their faith, and other times just for being stupid. The Duggars fall into the latter category.

Gen said...

I'm freakin' angry this morning. I'm just about fed up of hearing them say that they are being attacked for being Christians. I'm a Christian and I have an opinion that is different from theirs when it comes to what it means to be a Christian.

I believe that everyone has the right to the life they choose to live as long as they don't victimize others. That means that, even though I don't see that for myself, I will not criticize a woman who chooses to let the man be the head of the household as long as she is the one making the choice.(I do know that a lot of them don't really choose and yes I have a huge problem with that.

I believe that God loves all of his children and that he created all of them with their own reality. God doesn't hate gays or trans or whatever because he created them this way. He doesn't make mistakes, he gives different paths.

I believe that people need to face the consequences of your actions. Praying for God's forgiveness is important, but this forgiveness comes with facing the consequences of your actions.

I'm a Christian and I am angry with the Duggars because they use God to avoid paying the price of wrong actions. I am angry with the Duggars because they discriminate and create vandettas against those who are different from them. I am angry with the Duggars because everything is always everybody else's fault.

What a desperate pair of liars. Jesus loved children and taught us to do the same. Love includes protection.

No man should let his parents and victim sisters speak on his behalf. He should face the music on his own. To hide speaks volumes to me.

This whole "The girls were asleep and didn't remember" is both B.S. and an attempt to minimize the seriousness of the incident. AND, even if one of the victims was asleep or half-asleep, that does not minimize what Josh did. It's like saying, oh, it's OK for me to pull down the pants of and have sex with that passed out drunk girl, because she won't remember anyway. The perpetrator is still wrong, despite the level of 'consciousness' of the victim. I, too, am never watching TLC again. EVER.

Crazy thought, but what if there are still bad things going on at the duggar house and one of the girls helped to leak the report. Or maybe one of the duggar clan is sick of being on tv and thought if this dirty secret came out they wouldn't have to have camera in their face all the time. Perhaps it was one of the husbands or maybe jill needed more attention and didn't mind sinking the ship to keep the focus on her. I know this sounds horrible but I can't help but to think it was someone close to the family that let this one out.

I agree with you. I watched the interview, will watch Friday as well. MK was tougher than I thought she would be. MD couldn't cry about her daughters, but her tears came when talking about Josh. MD believes the retiring sheriff has a 'lesbian agenda' against her family. Wow! I loved when MK brought up the transgender robo call and MD and JB were trying to justify it by saying Josh was a child, because that makes all the difference.

Also, this talk about the record being leaked illegally because Josh was a minor. I'm not familiar with the law, but I have noticed that when ever an Afro-American man is shot by the police and there is protest, Fox News has no problem releasing the victims juvie record.

re: K.A.W.'s comments I agree with you that you are not condemning Jill & Jessa. It's a question of Jim Bob & Michelle choosing to have those girls re-victimized. But You have to wonder if the girls are doing this on orders from Jim Bob who still puts a roof over their heads & keeps a job for one son-in-law or do you think the girls have their own agenda: A spinoff? At this point I don't know what to think. Although, I was surprised that Michelle, try as she did, couldn't squeeze a tear..must have shed them all over the past 10 days or so. I am enraged that they outright lied about all involved going for counseling with a licensed therapist. I hope Jim Bob & Michelle are both on their knees in the prayer closet for that lie. You'll never convince me that it wasn't an outright lie. I also believe it was an outright lie when they said the police chief had refused to shake hands with Josh one time when he extended his hand for a handshake. It appeared to me that in the beginning, both Jim Bob & Michelle were very nervous, but became quite comfortable when thy knew they had the ball in their court with Megyn Kelly, the tough, hard hitting, journalist.

I used to watch the Duggars long ago (haven't watched in about 4 years). I recall people speculating that this had indeed happened, so it's been interesting to see it come to light. My question now is: Jim Bob said last night that similar and worse things happen in the Gothard circles. Given that there are teenage boys and underage girls in the house, wouldn't the authorities have reason to investigate, be sure it's not happening again? Frankly, I'm waiting for one of them to claim it falls under freedom of religion. Honestly, nothing would surprise me anymore.

The whole thing is disgusting. From the molestation to the fact that these people have been on their high horse spewing lies about LGBT and transgender folks when it was happening in their own home and they knew it.

One thing about the counseling is that they may well have had professional counseling. They were turned over to Child Protective Services (whatever it is called in Arkansas) and had a case there. CPS probably did require real counseling as a condition of the case. They did name the center they went through although I've already forgotten the name.

Nobody needed to bribe anyone. JB is wrong about that and needs to shut up along with everyone else at Fox News.

Records of the ARREST of a juvenile, the DETENTION of a juvenile shall be confidential and shall not be subject to disclosure.

Josh was neither arrested nor detained. This is why the police asked for clarification from the DA. Police reports are just that; reports of what other individuals have told police, which may or may not lead to charges and/or arrest.

The law has to be read literally, and it's very clear that Josh walked into a police department of his own free will and a few hours later walked out. No arrest. No detention. No charges. Doesn't apply. By their logic, ANY case involving a minor would then be subject to non-disclosure, and that's just nonsense. Many crimes involve minors, whether the minor was a victim, witness, or the perp. Until the minor THEMSELVES is arrested, it's all subject to disclosure. What's more, the girls were implying there was something illegal about disclosing all of their info and they need to be protected, and I'm sorry but they WERE protected, everyone was redacted from the report. But as a victim, like it or not, you don't have the right to stop something from coming out when it was proper to come out. You don't hold that right. Victims Rights groups may feel differently but that's the state of the law.

The very fact that the police went to the D.A. for help shows that they DID do their due diligence, did not act in haste, and sought out their legal counsel before making any decision they weren't 100% sure on. The attorney we elect to prosecute people who is an authority on the state of the law determined it was correct to release it. Unless they have something that says otherwise, there is nothing illegal with what happened.

What about Washington County, a completely different jurisdiction, who also released their report? Are we to believe that they too violated some law? They too apparently determined the report should be released. They screwed up too? Not buying it. They said at the end of their report the only reason they weren't pursuing this further was because they realized they didn't have jurisdiction.

I agree with all above comments. Wow, I pulled up clips on You=tube so not sure how the interview went in order, but I now believe that Jim Bob and Michelle are certifiable. They seriously need some counseling of their own. I am outraged that they used this interview as a platform to minimize the situation. In my opinion, it appears this is a desperate plea to keep their show. I could be wrong. But the overall favortism they show to Josh is disgustingly apparent.
Oh how I hope some of the Duggar kids flee the compound and perhaps one day, write a tell all book. Cynthia Jeub is starting to tell some things on her blog (also from a fundamentalist family) and believe me, it's not pretty.
Watching the interview segments, I kept screaming at the computer screen calling Jim Bob and Michelle liars. My husband kept saying "calm down" He thinks they're building their own grave with this interview. If the Duggars get to keep their show OR have a spin off, then I hope the ratings are so low that it doesn't survive past one more season (kind of like Kate Gosselin)
I am glad others picked up on the lies as well. And why is Megyn Kelly going on about the how the reports re-victimize the girls but then she is going to interview Jessa and Jill!!!??? Talk about hypocrisy.

A quote from Michelle via ABC News and my thoughts...

FROM Michelle via ABC NEWS: "Michelle Duggar said her daughters 'have been victimized more by what has happened in the last couple of weeks than they were 12 years ago because, honestly, they didn't even understand and know that anything had happened until after the fact when they were told about it.'"

My Thoughts on this after watching interview: LIAR! The police report mentioned that one girl was touched in the laundry room and one was fondled while she sat on Josh's lap to read a story. THEY WERE AWAKE for some of these incidents. LIAR. So disgusting, Michelle.

Susan Collins said...

The discrepancies between the police report and the interview were staggering. Too many to list. But the one that stands out for me is that after the THIRD time Josh admitted to his parents he "inappropriately touched" one of his sisters, they called in "family friends". In the police report it is Church Elders who are called in. Church Elders are mandatory reporters, friends or not. And as Jim Bob so smugly stated, parents aren't mandatory reporters. The whole thing is sickening.

Ok, I've had some time to gather my thoughts (and stop wanting to punch a wall) so here's what I have to say about the interview.

First of all, I love this article and what it says: http://gawker.com/19-excuses-and-counting-every-excuse-the-duggars-made-1708883481

So clearly Jim Bob and Michelle are never going to think that anything bad happened to their daughters. That is a sad reality but I'm just going to have to move past that. But what about the babysitter that was also molested? Why is it ok that she had that happen to her?

If one of the Duggar girls was babysitting and was molested by a boy around her age, would that be ok with Jim Bob or Michelle? It must be since it's ok that their babysitter was molested by Josh. So when is being molested not ok in their world? What if a complete stranger molested someone in their family but felt really sorry about that? Is that ok too?

I understand that marital rape in their religion doesn't exist, but what line needs to be crossed for it not to be ok for an unmarried woman (or man)?

As far as the interview goes, I do give props to Megyn Kelly for attempting to ask real and serious questions. Her problem was that she let the Duggars give either half answers or no answers that related to the question. I can see that she tried, but I don't know why she let them get away with non-answers.

I will agree with the Duggars that Josh is technically not a pedophile (at least for the incidents that we do know about). He is a child molester. So unless there are more incidents that we don't know about (and I feel like that is very possible) he is "only" a child molester. But being a child molester is still a crime and not just a mistake.

Rant over.

It was something they carried around for life. I worry about Josh's kids. How do we know he is safe to be around? They are trying to blame the media, the police for releasing the records, etc , anyone except themselves and Josh. Why can't Josh speak for himself? I was pretty sure how the interview would go and from what I just read here confirms my fears. Why is this gross family being protected? Just because they throw around the word "Christian?" There is no liberal agenda against them. The agenda is against the CULT they belong to. The agenda is against the JUDGEMENT against the LGBT community. The agenda is against treating their daughters like property. I just can't cope with this family anymore. I am so disturbed at TLC for allowing them to become this popular. I am so disturbed that even mainstreamish people at work are falling for this because they don't know the backstory on these people. If there is any agenda it is the media hiding their cult beliefs from the viewers and the fact that they are using their popularity to try to pass archaic laws instead of allowing America to evolve into an enlightened country.

The "Interview" by FOX of the Duggars was a called in favor by Huckabee IMO. His political "stink" is all over it.

Michelle says the "girls" have been victimized more in the last two weeks than from the molestation incidents (which they hardly remember per her). Jim Boob says he doesn't care about whether his family is on TV or not ever again. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Jim Boob VERY MUCH CARES about TLC picking up spin-offs for both his daughter Jill & Jessa. Likewise, both of the girls themselves VERY MUCH CARES to get their $$$ spin-offs which is why they are speaking up in the "Interview" as the "victims". The Duggar Plan is to hit on the fact that all of those involved were MINORS and the reports(s) should have never been released to the public to deflect from the real issue -- the Duggars failed parental responsibilities to all involved & legal consequences for failure to report/take appropriate action.

The Duggars arranged the "Interview" to prove to TLC that the public would be interested in seeing Jill & Jessa in their own spin-off because I'm sure TLC has expressed concerns re the public not waiting to see anything Duggar on their TV's again much less the "victims". I'm sure Jim Boob has used every ploy with TLC including not allowing his "girls" to be victimized again by not giving them their own show now.

They live in such a tightly sealed bubble down there in Arkansas that they are completely surprised at how many people are not okay with their cult-like life style.

I have no doubt that Jill and Jessa were ordered by Jimboob to give an interview. They will both say that they forgive Joshie. Jessa has already said he is not a pedophile and that it was not as serious as it was made out to be. None of the Duggar kids are allowed to say what they really feel. They have been trained since birth how to think, what to think, what to believe and how to act. I believe they would be afraid of Jimboob's reaction if they ever expressed a thought that differed from his. I believe Jimboob is a very different man than the one he portrays on TV.

I'm still so disgusted at the lies in their interview last night! They couldn't even let their engaged daughters go thru marriage counseling with anyone else but JimBob & Michelle so I have serious doubts they would let anyone outside of their church counsel their children. I'm not sure if I am going to be able to watch part 2 with Jill and Jessa. Based on the preview alone, I wonder if Jill is crying because she is dealing with PPD or that she is angry with the tabloids. If you think about it, a child with 18 siblings rarely stands out in a crowd and gets undivided attention. She was on the cover of People magazine how many times? Her pregnancy got more press time and social media attention than the Princess of Caimbridge's pregnancy. Her baby's birth story was front cover material and got its own episode. Jill was loving the spotlight! Now it's all been taken away, and she isn't a big star anymore. Jessa, seems angry, but as much as she is coached to say it's towards the " evil tabloids with an agenda" I think it's more towards Josh, but she isn't allowed to express that. Jessa is the spunky one, she will show her true feeling better than Jill. I had always though Jinger was outspoken too, but she seems more reserved now. I just wished one of those girls would put their foot down and stand up against the Cult!

Oh my gosh..... This was damage control, pure and simple. JB doesn't want his gravy train to end and they are circling the drain. Michelle and her phony tears and everytime she spoke could hardly look away from JB. They make me sick and if TLC doesn't cancel them I will lose the little shred of faith in humanity I have left........

I am really more curious to hear from Jinger and Jana as far as an interview goes. I feel sad for all of them, but I fear that Jill and Jessa were trotted out because there might be a spin-off and JBoob convinced them to do it. I also think there was a more sinister motive from JB and Michelle such as Jill and Jessa are married, and in their minds, those girls are fine and adjusted. Right? Heck no.

I gues that gravy train is more than your honor Jill. Jill and Janna want thier own show, Boy how money corputs.. We all know this all Daddy idea. Please don't tell me Josh or any other male in that house is not touching his sisters. Shame on the duggars all of them. Jim Boo and Michele if you think this is hell just wait. One two more of those children will rebel and will not listen to you. Alert camp they will not go

Cap Crunch, of course the Duggar girls are treated as second class citizens because that's part of the Gothard Cult behavior of women. Interesting that Last night Creepy Gothard was not mentioned.

Sarah and Bristol Palin call Duggars victims of media 'hypocrisy'

http://onpolitics.usatoday.com/2015/06/04/palins-duggars-sexual-assualt-oh-my/

Everything in the following sentence is click-bait:

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin wrote a Facebook post linking to a Bristol Palin blog post, both of which excoriated the “liberal media” for attacking Josh Duggar for past sexual misdeeds while celebrating Lena Dunham, who admitted sexual experimentation with her sister.

The short summary of this entire fiasco is from Palin:

The Duggar debate needs to shift from solely the boy’s obvious wrongdoing when he was 14 years old to now include:

1) The shocking, unethical leak of a private, legally protected counseling document by a politically motivated law enforcement official. Media – time to go after her or him for illegalities and for destroying the public’s trust in law enforcement.

2) The media’s hell-bent mission to go after the entire Duggar family for one member’s wrongdoing, while giving a total pass to perverted actions of someone like Lena Dunham – or any other leftwinger celeb caught doing awful things.

Here’s some more background on the Lena Dunham thing, which she blames largely on the right-wing media.

And if somehow you have not heard about the Duggar thing, here’s the background on that, from our colleague Mary Bowerman:

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the Christian conservative reality-TV stars from TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting say their son Josh Duggar “violated God’s principle” when he sexually molested four of his sisters and a family friend when he was a teenager.

The Duggar House of Discount - how many ways can these people discount sexual abuse?

reading on line about the interview, some of the highlights seem to include: "It was JUST touching. It was not rape or anything. Friends have told us 'much worse things have happened in their families" (code: in our Uber conservative Christian CULTure, Patriarchs-In-Training inappropriately touching siblings is common, therefore, it must be normal.)

"we are considering a lawsuit for this info being published (code: here in Arkansas, breach of confidentiality trumps sex abuse,)

"the girls didn't know being touched that way is wrong" (code: holding hands prior to engagement, kissing prior to marriage are wrong, but your bro' sexually touching you is just what big brothers sometimes do.)

"the girls didn't even know it happened because they were asleep" ('If a tree falls in the empty forest, does it make a sound? QUANTUM PHYSICS from the Creationism Duggars???!)

"Our daughters are being re-victimized by this going public" (yet two of them will star in their on tv expose on it - go figure)

"we consider the police to be the last jurisdiction for Josh" (it's ok to sin against even your siblings because Jesus died for our sins, so all is forgiven. Our absolute legalism applies only to our holy faith - we don't worry about all these silly civil legalistics.)

"we placed safeguards to protect our girls to prevent this from happening again." (Yet it DID recur and we just kept oh-so-proudly bringing more baby girls into our home - apparently, God 'sees fit' to 'bless' incestual families.)

"We are under unprecedented (someone has been working on his vocabulary!) ATTACK partly DUE TO OUR CHRISTIAN BELIEFS." (we devoutly religious LOVE to play the 'martyred for our faith' card - we earn bonus morality points for claiming martyrdom).

"we are ok if TLC drops us." (Yet here we are still pandering to our right wing religiosity base on Fox News.)

and as for Jessa/Jill, blaming 'the system': how about placing the blame where it belongs, which is squarely on parental shoulders for a) sweeping the abuse under the rug, whilst they portrayed themselves as the very measure of a holy family AND b) for selling out the entire family for public consumption and their own profit lo those many years ago when it was just "14 Kids & Counting"

the Duggars have learned NOTHING from this situation - Jethro Tull said it best: "Thick As A Brick"

The audacity of these two parents to "cry fake tears" that they have "failed their children"? YES, they DID fail ALL of their children across the board and obviously, some more than others..yet they have the gall to accept speaking engagements and accept awards for Mother of the Year all they while knowing how they have failed. They also have done NOTHING in all these 10 years on TV to correct their fans' opinion and view of them in that light. Liars they are.
They have failed their children in severely stifling their education and the quality of that thus rendering them severely limited in professional work opportunities; opportunities that may one day be very much needed income for these young people.
These parents have allowed themselves to be perceived as "having the keys to raising perfect children" because they have never set the record straight before being "outed" that all of their children aren't and weren't cookie cutter perfect.
Having all the children say that they want exactly the same life and number of children that God allows for themselves is in itself suspect or bigger and "badder" things going on in that household.
Also, why NEVER a syllable that Grandpa Ruark has ever lived with them? Why the radio silence on that from the start...yet they have gone out of their way to let us know when the Duggar grandparents moved in and that Grandma Duggar chose to stay is "such a laundry help"? I had no idea that Michelle's father EVER spent one minute in her household yet alone lived there.
So many contradictions and outright lies, inventing history, this interview was poorly done IMO,, one does not have to lead a cross examination or an inquisition of these two to conduct a thorough interview and ask for specifics or follow up questions that wouldn't let these two grown up children masquerading as adult, involved, caring parents off the proverbial hook yet again.

I also find it telling that ONLY the married Duggar daughters are speaking? Have they suddenly become adults and person in their own right because they have married and were bedded by their husbands? I also find that to be a contradiction in itself because these Duggar girls have not been taught how to think, only told what to think...I'm sure they are following the explicit advice of their father here...I wonder just how much input or say-so Derick and Ben have in this?
I can't believe that these two "women" are going to defend their brother and sweep it under the rug. I don't want to see Jill's 'tears' either. I'm sorry that this happened to these individuals those years ago. I also wonder if their husbands were sold a bill of goods that were not what they seemed to be? I wish Megyn asked Jim Bob if they were honest and upfront with Derick and Ben that their pure virgin brides were violated by their brother? (Of course, it's not the girls' fault, but I do wonder just how honest about this the Duggars were BEFORE the wedding?) After all, the purity thing is Number 1 with this group of people and in their own belief system, their own daughter aren't that. It is quite telling to me that Derick didn't pull it out and appear for that earlier Digging In episode like a good son-in-law should even though he had jaw surgery...Ben looked like he wanted to 'clock' someone, yet he showed up for papa-in-law Jim Bob. Nothing stops those Duggars from the limelight. We should also hear from Derick and Ben...not to mention JOSHIE himself.
If I were Anna, I would have been humiliated nationally after she went on and on about how "great' and "special" it is to reserve yourself for the one God has for you...Well, Anna, you had a counterfeit experience on your wedding night, girl..."your v-j-j wasn't the first and only that YOUR husband looked at...How do you feel now? I'd feel like a jerk.

I can't take the opinions of people who haven't even seen the interview seriously, EVEN IF I agree with what they have to say. I was not ok with how JimBoob tried to circle around some of the questions he was asked but I do want to make sure some things are clear and NOT how some people on here who didn't even see the interview just regurgitate what they may have read/heard from other people. Michelle did cry during the interview at one point and JimBoob was also choked up in the beginning. The girls were referred to as "victims" by Michelle during the interview (I have read over and over again people claiming they didn't).

Aunt Bea said...

Perhaps the "qualified, certified professional counselors" that Jim Bob was referring to were those in their church belief system...you know, just like Crown College is a real accredited college, and Jana is a concert pianist, Jinger, a photographer, Jill, a REAL midwife, etc...Jim Bob and Michelle don't go outside of their church/world for anything real; it's all their own made up qualifications and certifications..I'd like to know exactly what office Josh was taken to for this "counseling" he allegedly received.

If those poor girls didn't wake up when being touched and fondled, I'd like to know what bottle of wine they drank prior to "passing out"? Who in their own right mind, doesn't wake up when being touched like that when sleeping? These parents stopped developing, maturing and learning anything after age 17. They are idiots.
