http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/duggar-family-jim-bob-michelle-homeschooling-convention-1.3299331

Big headline on the website just now (Sunday evening) after the original story was posted a few days ago. Duggars are CANCELED at home-school conference.

Quoting the article:
The Duggar family's keynote speech at the Alberta Home Education Association conference in Red Deer, Alta., has been cancelled.
In a press release sent out on Sunday, the AHEA confirmed that the controversial reality TV couple, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, have been dropped from the program. "Although early feedback from our members this summer was supportive of having the Duggars come here, recent feedback from our own members points out that their appearance here would not be in the best interest of home educators," reads the release.
The Duggar family has been clouded in controversy since May, when TLC cancelled their reality TV show, 19 Kids and Counting, after their eldest son admitted he had molested four of his sisters when he was a teenager.
The Duggars were booked two years ago, before the news about Josh Duggar surfaced, according to AHEA president Paul van den Bosch. On Friday, the AHEA announced it was having second thoughts about the speech. Information about the Duggars and their speech was pulled down from the convention website on Sunday as well.
The convention takes place April 8 and 9 in Red Deer.

There are moment like this one where I'm proud to be Canadian. ;)

I think this is pretty significant though. Alberta is considered one of the province with more conservative values. For the members of this association to voice their opinion so far ahead of the convention shows that they really don't want anything to do with what the Duggars have to say. A lot of organizations would have taken the "wait and see if things die down" approach.

Virginia said...

Good. This has to be very worrisome for JB and Michelle as it shows that even people in their own circles att starting to see what they really are.

Cedric said...

Well at least one of these Fundies has seen the light & cancelled the Duggars. However with the manner in which the Duggars receive news,I am sure they stil believe they will be speaking at the conference. The Duggars always experience assimilating any information. Not surprised.

June Bug said...

Im glad this AHEA Conference changed their mind and cancelled the Duggars. In an article last week it stated that many members were still in support of the Duggers speaking. Oh how I would love to hear and see Jim Bob and Michelle's reaction to this cancellation. Couldn't help but laugh when I read the statement in the article " Duggars' philosophy is not representative of AHEA as a whole". I hope the Duggar speaking engagements will eventually end, and more organizations will realize that Jim Bob and Michelle are not worthy role models of any kind.

So nice to hear that someone made a good decision.

good i hope they do not do anymore speaking eneagments. they need to be pushed into the real world and get jobs. and teach them to live like normal people.

MindoverMatter said...

Oh good lord. I live in Alberta- I hadn't heard that they were scheduled in the first place. (Makes sense- I'm not a fan of home schooling in general so I wouldn't know what the AHEA is planning) I'm certainly glad they won't have the opportunity to spread their brand of nonsense here though! I don't necessarily agree that Alberta is conservative though- in politics yes but not in overall values. I'm shocked they could find an audience here to begin with actually.

MindoverMatter said...

Also to note, this organization appears to be less rooted in fundie principles and more in an actual homeschool curriculum as far as I can tell- that's certainly not a good fit for the Duggars now is it?!

Aunt Bea said...

So, this AHEA group just figured out that the Duggar philosophy isn't like their when it comes to homeschooling? Why didn't they know that when they booked them? Don't they research who it is that they are asking to speak at their functions?
Of course the Duggar philosophy doesn't jive with any real homeschooling organization...the Duggar method is to ISOLATE and INDOCTRINATE their children. A real homeschool program allows and most likely encourages the homeschooled student interaction with other kids of their own age through sports, clubs at school, and other activities which involves their peers. The Duggar method does NOT. That's just a start of the differences,.I'm sure this group has a real curriculum in which the students aren't grade levels behind, and doesn't "leave out" proven science and history.

I actually don't even know were to begin. Has anyone seen this? http://www.dillandduggs.com

"Two friends that accidentally fell in love. Freshly married and learning how to live together. Life's not easy, but they have fun…. this is just another day with Dill&Duggs !!"

I though Amy was only to happy to loss the Duggar name and now she and her husband are actively marketing themselves under the name Duggs.

Also, a guess a portion of the website will be about promoting families with special needs, buy cloths from Amy's website and a generous 50% of profit goes to the families profiled. WOW, just WOW. I'm actually at a loss for words. Surely people won't be buying this stuff?

miabellavintage said...

I sent in letters to AHEA. I received an email stating the cancellation and he said he had hundreds of emails to respond to. Thank goodness, they had sense enough to listen to the media and people!

When it comes to the Duggars & homeschooling, I don't think you can put them in the same category as real homeschoolers. I am not a supporter, but I know many people whose kids have done well with a homeschool education. What exactly would they have talked about? Would Michelle talk about how she has a set time daily for the kids schooling. Exactly what material do they study from & how does she manage to teach (if she ever did) a group of many children of assorted ages. How does she keep them in line? All I've ever seen has been kids fooling around, always with some toy in their hands while they "study," crawling under the table, running upstairs to get their schoolwork, etc. She really has nothing to offer when it comes to how to set up your homeschooling program. Do we see them check on the kids progress. Did we ever see any papers the kids completed to see if they could spell or use proper grammar. Jim Bob & Michelle can't, so how could they teach their kids these lessons? What about history & oh yes, lets not forget in this day & age, the all important subject of science. How much of those subjects do they study? It seems to me, that at least from what we have seen in the past few yrs. they sit those kids down at a computer & they become geniuses in the Jim Bob & Michelle's minds.

Andrea, I looked at Amy Duggar Kings website and found the link to go shout love the clothing company that she is supporting. No where is she listed as a creator or manager or editor of the company. I believe she is either using her "fame" to raise awareness or she is deceiving people to make them believe it is her organization and "ministry" when it clearly is not. Just my two cents. I also find it odd and contradictory that she is using "duggs" as part of her website name after all the fuss of being glad to be free of the duggar names and rules. Hypocrite much?

Cindy said...

Amy posted a picture of her and Anna on her Instagram. Anna has lost so much weight. She still looks great, but there is still a sadness in her eyes. I'm sorry that I don't not know how to post a link.

Rudy Tecat said...

I went to the dillandduggs.com website, then to the fundraising shopping site. Guess what? The families profiled get 50% of the profits from t-shirt sales. But, the t-shirts are twice what you'd normally pay! $30 for a t-shirt? No, thanks.

rudy tecat said...

And, the dillandduggs website says "Two friends that fell in love..." instead of "Two friends WHO fell in love..."

Cedric said...

I sent a letter to AHEA & voraciously thanked them for Cancelling the Duggars. I also shared the Duggars are embedded within the Gothard Cult & the Duggars always incorporate (without mentioning Gothard) in a subtle manner to encourage listeners to live their lives as the way in which the duplicitous Duggars live. It's just very disturbing & wrong!

Amy said...

Anyone else find it odd Derick has switched his Instagram account to "private". As the Dillard ministries are combatting a lack of transparency, so much so they even started offering donation refunds, it just seems odd to me. They utilized social media as a "ministry tool" for some time now. Why the sudden change?

Reading various articles about Anna Duggar. So many articles about how she will not leave Josh, which I personally believe to be true. What actually makes me physically ill is to think that in this day & age any woman would take any blame for the disgusting actions of their husband. A real man doesn't destroy his family the way Josh has done. He has absolutely beautiful children, a devoted wife & had a job, that although it went against my principals it was bringing in the money. They were living a good life for a young couple only married for 7 yrs. A leopard will not change his spots & Josh will not change. He will lie his way out of the mess he's in & with the help of his pervert father they will not only keep Anna in tow, they will continue to berate Anna for not being a better wife. What more this girl could have done to make a happy home for her husband & children I have don't know. Anna dear girl, please don't let anyone try to convince you of your responsibility for Josh's behavior. Respect yourself & show your children what a real woman can be even when she has been blindsided by the disgraceful behavior of her "loving husband." Look for help, it's available to you, but you absolutely must look outside the Duggar family, as well as you own parents. There are support groups for people going through these difficult times...find one & get help for the sake of your children & your own self respect. You deserve to keep your self respect you've earned it by the life you've lived.

By chance, does Amy reclaiming the relieved to fling it off Duggar name have anything to do with Jessa and Jill suddenly getting back on tv? Maybe a chance for another Amy storyline? Oh, how it pains my fingers to write those names.

It was discussed in the October thread about Jim Bob being cunning.I would say he is cunning, but Gil Bates may be somewhat smarter as they tend to act normal. The thing about the Duggars and I have read the same sentiment with the Bateses, is they both expect these huge discounts or free stuff because of the family size. I also read local businesses dread the DUggars coming in because of it. Hagglers are annoying especially, if they don't really need a discount. When I buy things I don't expect nor ask for cuts. Businesses need to make money. Plus, like JIm Bob, they turn around and sell high, sometimes more than the item is worth.

"Oh good lord. I live in Alberta- I hadn't heard that they were scheduled in the first place. (Makes sense- I'm not a fan of home schooling in general so I wouldn't know what the AHEA is planning)"
I used to be against homeschool myself, but finally concluded it can be of great benefit, if done right. Special needs kids often need an environment in which they can work at their own pace, which the local school doesn't always provide. Some parents homeschool because they move a lot, and then , it fits some kids better in general regardless of learning ability. Michelle doesnt homeschool anymore, and Jim Bob never homeschooled. In any case, they give it a bad name. THough I think homeshcool can be wonderful, I feel home schooling works best in lower grades.

Back to Amy.
Isnt she not really a Duggar by name? Her mom is Jim Boobs sister...who was married to Amys dad..how did she suddenly go from Jordan to Duggar when the t.v. show was on and it was all hunky dory. .and Amy was trying to be a singer using her mothers maiden name of Duggar? And then the waves of scandals. .and suddenly Amy 'cant wait' to drop Duggar as her name? Duggar was never her name in the first place..am I correct? What a load of manure in the second place.

Ellyn said...

In the third lace Amy Cannot Sing. Amy would never make it on American idol or for that matter the Voice. At best, Amy's voice is barely average & definitely pitchy. I can't believe TLC actually filmed Amy in Nashville when she made an attempt to become a country western performer. Have never been impressed with Amy. Just as Jessa is impressed with her own ignorance Amy is as well.

Meme said...

I am sure that local businesses dread seeing the Duggars coming due to the inevitable haggling. I would. I'm sure that these millionaires still feel entitled.
Jim Bob learned from his mother, I'm told. Remember when Mary was going to manage Amy? All of a sudden I saw "that side" of Mary, as she advised the music executive, who was the experienced professional, that he should lighten up on Amy. I like Mary Duggar, though. I just wish she'd pull Jim Bob's ear every once in a while. And where did I hear that Jim Bob is also known for leaving very lousy tips (if any) in restaurants?

Always said...

RE:Captian Crunch's comments about Amy. I have been thinking the same thing about Amy's name actually being "Jordan." As far as I can recall, Jim Bob's sister has said in the past that although she wasn't married to Amy's dad when Amy was born, he always remained in the picture. I remember her saying that they continued dating ,not courting after Amy's birth. See that's the outcome you get when you don't court & remain pure as Josh did. Anyway, yes you are correct,as Amy has always used the Duggar name to try & further whatever she's dong at the moment, whether it's running off to Nashville to become the greatest country western vocalist we've ever heard or just to be on the pages of People magazine. She is not a Duggar, her maiden name remains "Jordyn." Of course she's now a "King," but still wants to trample all over the Duggar fame or what little is left of it. I don't know if anyone that comments here has ever been able to locate a copy of her birth certificate, but that would be interesting, & perhaps put a stop to her running her mouth off about one minute being a Duggar & the next minute she can't wait to change her name & then it's back to being a Duggar. It's enough to give you a headache.

Re: The homeschooling. Although I have nothing against it personally, I have always wondered why there isn't any procedure in place to test these kids, to see if any of them have any special needs, even just as simple as eye test & hearing test that are done in public or private schools. When it comes to the Duggar kids, it is so obvious, it hits you right in the fact that a number of these kids have attention deficit disorder or are hyperactive. As long as I can remember, & I was so sick of hearing it from Michelle & the sister moms about how much energy the kids have. When they have been on various trips, where the person that is their guide, comments on the kids wild behavior, Michelle has always tried to excuse their behavior by saying they have so much energy, & need to run it off. Those kids are so exhausted most of the time, what with having no set nap time or bedtime for the little ones, or even the teens. As we have covered before, they all need a bedtime routine. The little one need a bath, it relaxes them, a story,(it doesn't need to be Bible study every night)& they need to be put in their own beds that have clean sheets & blankets. I remember when my kids started half day kindergarten. They were always so tired when they came home at noon. They had lunch,we reviewed their papers from school & then they went for a nap. I always said you don't need to go to sleep, just take your book & rest. It was an extremely rare day when they didn't fall asleep, & they still were in bed by 7 to 7:30 at night, in order to be up for the next day. When you yourself care for your children you are tired by nighttime & want some time to relax for yourself. Your kids need that routine & you need it too.

Yes, Wishing, you and I share the same philosophy about providing quality structure in a child's day. It benefitted not only my children but ME and our household to have a routine...not cut in stone, mind you and rigid, but my children were more secure, well rested and cheerful that they "knew what to expect" in their days and evenings. This family doesn't have a clue, IMO, their household is dirty, smelly and chaotic...an environment no child should have to "try and learn on their own in".

Heart in Florida said...

Jill and Derick are in Central America completely unprepared to be there IMO. When I learned Spanish IN SCHOOL, I was taught there are two parts in learning how to proficiently speak a foreign language like Spanish: verb conjugation, and vocabulary. Once you know those two areas, one can speak fluently...memorizing certain phrases, is NOT speaking a language, it limits you to only those phrases. They need to learn HOW to put a sentence together and communicate ANYTHING they wish to..those two things include verb conjugation and vocabulary. I know, I did it myself and it renders you practically fluent. Why are they at a birth center? Derick is a male, NOT even trained medical personnel, and has no business being there in the first place... I certainly would like to know HOW Jill will develop not only conversational level 1 Spanish, but she would need to be fluent in medical terminology,, not only in English, but absolutely in Spanish. Something I believe she is woefully deficient in.

Almost said...

All the talk about Jill working at a birthing center. I don't know so am not criticizing but am asking what I feel is a fair question. I would think in theses countries, most women would deliver at home. It's a poor country & there must be some fee for services at a birthing center. Even if a good portion of the people that work there are volunteers there must be charges for supplies etc. & how many women there could afford the fee? I certainly could be wrong in my thinking, but I still see most women in these poor countries giving birth at home. I realize that Jill could be assisting in those births, but all the PR that is coming from Jill & Derick seems to revolve around the birthing center, unless of course it's is centered on their becoming fluent in Spanish in a few weeks time.

The reason I know the Dillard ministries are a fraud is they state a friend gave them such wonderful "advice". That they should go into ministry now before they establish roots and it will be that much harder if the wait. I call BS. When I thought of going into some type of mission in this country mind you, in some form of capacity as distributing food and social services to the needy, God told me I wasn't ready. That it is very hard to be a missionary for him. After that things changed in my life, and I know I wasn't ready. And I wasn't even going to another country to prostelsize. The Dillard family is no better than anyone else with their Hollier than thou attitude. They didn't think it through, didn't have God's, or even the churches approval. No wonder they are in the trouble they are in. No wonder. Young kids so self ritgheous they have all the answers for these people. Now, if only they could speak the language.

Anyone else notice how thin Anna is now?

Bubbles said...

I haven't seen any pics of Anna other than a couple of face shots, and it does look like she has lost weight but she did have a baby, so I can't tell if it's normal baby weight loss (she got pretty puffy during pregnancies) or stress. My ex left me for another woman when I was 7 months pregnant and I tried really hard but could barely eat. It felt like my throat was closed when I'd try to swallow. I ended that pregnancy 26 lbs lighter than I'd started it. I am a heavyset person anyway so that's not as drastic as it would be on a woman Anna's size, fortunately. My baby weighed 9 lbs and although I was hospitalized overnight to stop preterm labor a couple of times within the first couple of weeks of him leaving, things settled down and she was born 2 days after her due date.

I think Anna had a rough time the last few weeks of her pregnancy and although this baby wasn't early, she was smaller than the others which makes me think Anna probably was having trouble eating, too, and you know they weren't letting her go to a real OB doc who might have hospitalized her for fluids and nutrition.

It really illustrates just how selfish Josh's disgusting actions were, putting his wife at risk for disease and pre-term labor, and putting his unborn child at risk of disease and prematurity. He is a sick person who needs intensive REAL therapy, not just more brainwashing.

Just wondering if anyone caught the opening number from the CMA's last night?(The CMA's are the Country Music Awards), if you are not familiar with CMA....

ANYWAY, during a duet from Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, they were singing about all of the breakups that have happened in Country Music this past year. The most hilarious moment came at the end of THIS part of the duet. Brad sang "Bored with your wife, and your sister. too...your cheatin' site with tell on you..... Josh Duggar." This was sung to the tune of "Yore Cheatin' Heart".

Yes, she announced that she was an Aunt, but what I also noticed is that there are photos of her wearing shorts and a tank top. Seems the Seewald kids may not have been brought up in the Gothard teachings. Or if they were....maybe less strict practices?

I predict the December story on People to be: Seewald Family expecting?? and the article will repeat that they courted, got married and had a scandal at church, the black sheep brother abused and was outed on Ashley Madison.......The couple celebrated their 1st anniversary Nov 1 and a few days later baby boy Seewald (name to be announced in a future exclusive edition) barely missed arriving on his mother's 23rd birthday.

Baby Seewald (to be named in a future exclusive addition) has an older cousin who is now a star missionary in Central America (fluent in Spanish and like English, so he is like Bi-lingual) who weighed 1 ounce less than Baby Seewald (to be named in a future exclusive addition)

What happened to those girls in the safety of their own home is not funny. However, the Duggars leave themselves wide open to ridicule. They set themselves up as examples of how we all should behave and live our lives. Josh Duggar was one of the ring leaders of the group. When I think of his speeches re parent planning, homosexuality, family values, etc., I could almost vomit. It is just unfortunate that his little children and his wife are getting blowback from all this "stuff".

If the Duggars do not want any comments, criticism or jokes about themselves, they should stay out of the public eye. They should stop looking for more exposure and live normal lives like the rest of the real humans. It boggles the mind with how Jessa has been showing her "bump" for 9 months. 99% of women in this world are capable of procreation. She is not Special.

I remember with my first born, my mother-in-law took her to buy her first schoolbag without me knowing, and I was really upset- you only get to do those "firsts" with your children once, and with your first born, it's the first time ever that you are doing it.

I just heard the call Michelle made to 911 and I'm confused about her behavior. 911 is an EMERGENCY service yet her tone of voice doesn't have any urgency. Why did she need to call 911 to request a service that from what I have read was NOT URGENT!. Isn't that abusing the system? She has always been so detached from her children. Jessa just had a birthday but Michelle doesn't remember how old her daughter is now. Why call 911? Why not just take her to the hospital? Isn't Jessa a midwife too? Isn't bleeding something normal when a woman gives birth?

From what the 911 tape sounded like, it seems to me that no midwife was present..if she were there, it would have been the midwife, or her DOULA assistant that would have made the call...you know, the practitioner has no emotional connection to the patient, therefore can think correctly, knows the terminology to report, etc...but it was MICHELLE, who, la-dee-daaad, through that Xanax filled audio of hers. What is wrong with that woman? She also was whispering on the phone..who does that? I understand perhaps she didn't want Jessa to know that the call was being made, or she didn't want to upset Jessa, but I believe the 911 operator needed to hear the call well...also, since Jessa had a birthday, and her cake was still in the fridge, HOW COULD MICHELLE HAVE NOT REMEMBERED her own daughter's age? It was just celebrated?! Evidence also that supports no midwifery supervision there, is that Michelle was repeating the 911 operator's instructions to someone not medically trained AT ALL in the house, if they were a trained staff that whole situation would have done down differently. Really, don't those adult Duggar children notice that their mother is "out to lunch' compared to other women Michelle's age? Also, those Duggar daughters are not built to have babies, sad to say...they need a different life plan than their parents in the baby department. Something could go terribly wrong. If they are looking at Anna as a "homebirth success story", they should remember that she is NOT a blood relative and perhaps built completely differently than them in the labor and delivery department. No common sense there at all. I'd like to know exactly what happened from start to finish in the Seewald household regarding this incident. I wonder if we will ever know truly what happened....if there were a homemade midwife there, and she split quick when things didn't go textbook perfectly to avoid responsibility with the medical authorities or did Jessa go this alone with the Duggar Family Birthing Team?

pretty girl said...

i bet two dollars jilly muffin was on skye with jessa doing the midwife and michelle was helping. that is what happen. so they did not know what to so she called 911.

Syndee said...

Another thing, couldn't they have gotten at least one quick photograph of her with her baby before she left? It must mean trouble was occurring before the baby was actually born, rather than just a smooth birth, a few pics, then uh oh there's excessive bleeding.

Not that I hope anything was wrong, of course, but the story from these people and the facts never seem complete and never seem to line up right.

When does rehab not have a purpose. I thought the purpose of rehab was... well... rehab.

Just a thought... I wonder if the reason Jill and Jessa had delivery problems has to do with JimBob's side of the family. His mother only had two kids at a time when women were having many more and his sister only had one child.

They are all about minimizing the negative and twisting their story line to make it look great. They are ALL living in la la land. "Oh yeah, Jessa just had to stop by the hospital for a quick check". Yeah, right.

Dar said...

My understanding is that there was a lot of bleeding. As far as I can determine from the article is that an ambulance did come and take her to the hospital. Don't know what the big deal is. These people should just get to a proper Gynecologist and stop taking chances with the birth of a baby.

Quiana said...

I'm really waiting on the day when one of those kids grows up and writes that tell all book, but I'm afraid it won't be for a long while.

Were Derick and Ben raised in the Gothard religion? If not why did rhe get into this crap? The Duggar girls aren't amazing catches if I'm honest. Lol.

Its so messed up that these people are only taught sex is for making babies. Michelle has had that tattooed on her brain that it's her identity so much so that she knows nothing about her kids like the 911 call showed.
And enough so her kids will blindly follow that path. As soon as the next kid is popped out the prior one is tossed aside. It's disgusting. Maybe if babies wasn't the be all end all the kids could get attention and the duggars would have valuable marriages, ie like with Josh.

lilwbprincess said...

Weird how they didn't mention anything about being in the hospital. I mean, in starpulse link, that pic of her, she has hospital bracelets on. There's absolutely NO shame in having a birth plan not go accordingly!

In the article it mentioned the "white background" that they posed in front of -- Some hospitals offer to have a photographer come around the mom/baby units and take baby and family photos prior to discharge. The white background looks like that. My hospital does this. So, I don't think the photo had the hospital background edited out, it's just the sheet or whatever was used, IF that's where the pic was taken.

That may have been the case. Unassisted childbirth isn't illegal.

Quiana said...

What happened to Marjorie? Wasn't she Mexican American? How did they meet? I couldn't see her fitting into the Duggar mold.

Heart in Florida said...

colleen: from what I gather from the 911 tape and Grandma Seewald holding the baby at Jessa's house, still in the initial brown towel that he was wrapped in immediately after delivery, Jessa was in labor long enough for the Seewald family to drive 4 hours to Jessa's house...so, Jessa labored for some hours at the very least, and perhaps the baby then came rather quickly and she "tore" in the process. Why no midwife seemed present is a mystery to me...also, Jessa has never said who was giving her her prenatal care...ever..so I wonder if she was winging it with Jill while she "visited in the U.S" and really didn't have a midwife knowledgeable about her care. Jill could have been "skyped" as Jessa's "midwife". Nothing is unbelievable to me about this family at this stage of the game.
I also believe that they have been quiet about what happened with Jessa; not wanting to admit that she even went to the hospital, etc, let alone tell the public what went down with this situation...start to finish... or if Jessa is still in the hospital ( it's 11/8) or not..I think has absolutely to do with the fact that the family wants us to find out what happened by watching the spin off TV SHOW...for heaven's sake! Nothing is too low for this family if it involved fame, TV and money for THEM...some Christians, aren't they? Despite what I have submitted here, I absolutely hope that Jessa and her son are and will be alright, happy and healthy together. I don't ever wish hardship on anyone, not even them.

Andrea said...

I'm curious to know the circumstances under which Grandma Duggar and Jim Bob took photos of the baby? I mean, Jessa bleeding out or has just been taken to the hospital and the Duggar's gather around to take photos and look at the baby with seemingly no concern or consideration for Jessa's feeling. I think Grandma looks a little uncomfortable in the photo posted and Michelle is missing and I wondered if this is why . . . now we know. Can we assume that Benjamin transported the baby to the hospital afterwards? For Jessa's sake I really hope this 911 call and all the drama surrounding the birth is for the cameras and she wasn't in any sort of medical emergency. That said, I think we can now safely assume that neither of these girls will be having 19 children, they are clearly not Michelle.

Heart in Florida said...

Let's not forget that Marjorie's family has the same type of belief system as the Duggars as she would not have been approved for Josiah in he first place. They all seem to wear those icky long skirts when around a Duggar anyway, but I doubt her life is much different...as her "hobbies, ie writing, stage appearances and the like are just pass times for her too, until her Prince Charming comes a callin', Duggar boy or not.

I am almost 100% positive that Jessa has a name picked out for the baby. She is the one who is uber-organized. She had that mega wedding and parking lot ice cream reception planned before Bin knew what hit him. She probably had a name picked out before the pee stick dried. After pushing out that huge baby and suffering complications that landed her in the hospital, when it comes to deciding on a name there's no way Bin could win in a disagreement. He's whooped. He's whooped anyway. Jessa wears the pants in that relationship.

Beth said...

Meme - it was Amy's husband Dillon who tweeted about Brad Paisley being funny right after he made the joke (didn't specifically reference the Josh joke), it didn't take long though and it was deleted

Aunt Bea said...

I always thought that their Gothard beliefs about homeschooling said that the mother should be teaching her own children...how is it that Sierra, the Wedding Planner is instructing the Duggar children? That seems to go against their own beliefs, doesn't it? If this is so, who is teaching Sierra's children? How can she be teaching the Duggar children take care of her own 4,5 children, clean, cook, shop, do laundry etc in her own home AND BE ALWAYS AVAILABLE to her own husband? Watch out, Sierra, did you see that look Ben gave your man?

I also would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Duggar for homeschooling Josh. They wished to shelter and shield him from the dangers and heathens found in public and other Christian schools...it is their own son that parents would have wanted removed from the classroom due to his curiosity with the female students in kindergarten. Thank you, Ma and Pa Duggar for removing this threat from nice children who attend school.

Sierra and her husband attended regular schools, including, I believe, public high school. They are recent converts to the "Gothardism". (I guess Gothardism can wipe out your previous intelligence ?)

Also, just a random tid bit. Sierra named her new baby Edyn Grace. How many babies with the middle name Grace now? Jordyn, Meredith, one of the Bates girls and now Sierra's. Must be the new fad. (Kind of like all the -Anna's). At least her baby has a regular name, not like Spurgeon. :) Also, looked like she was in a hospital, I at least give her credit for that.

Just Wondering said...

I only wrote about Sierra teaching the younger Duggar kids because that's what was said at the time she was finishing up her "wedding planning," for the girl's weddings. Someone asked what she would be doing now & Michelle was standing right there when she said now, with two of the older girls out of the house she would be teaching or at least assisting with the homeschooling of the younger kids. I remember that others on this blog were asking how she could do this with all the children she herself had. I didn't know much about her & wasn't sure until now exactly how many children she had. I also didn't think she lived that close to the Duggars home to be over there teaching the young kids. Of course, I don't know how Jana could find time to homeschool her siblings, as she now seems to have taken on the care, or is at least helping with her nieces & nephews.

Lisa said...

RE: Murphy's comments about what credentials Sierra has to teach the Duggar kids. I'm sure looking at her age & the number of children she has,she probably married young & started her family immediately. I also wonder exactly what credentials Michelle has to teach her kids. Just because they are her kids doesn't mean she is competent to teach them once they are of school age. In my opinion Michelle is in no way competent to teach those kids, but I don't think she even does teach them anymore. After all she's a celebrity now.

According to official aircraft records, Duggar Aviation LLC owns the two aircrafts. Yes, it is Jim Bob himself, but "renamed" for tax and liability purposes. They do have that much money and more than that, folks. Their posted net worth is not inclusive of everything they own. To maintain that TTH alone, one would need a great deal of "new money" every month..add on all the property, vehicles, rental properties, aircraft, etc...and you need more than a 3.5 million dollar worth. Their income from all publicity, speaking engagements and salary for TLC episodes was reported to be over $25 million dollars PER YEAR; therefore, their net worth has to be more than 3.5M.
Numbers don't lie, nor do they have any feelings...it all adds up that they are the ones who are wolves in sheeps clothing and the "sons in law" saw a good deal ahead for them in life with marriage into that family. JMHO on this one...but I have a hunch.

As far as I know, there are no credentials necessary to teach your own children, or children of others in their belief system. How could there be, when they believe in homeschooling the "teacher" when SHE was little? There are no accountability state education equivalent tests for this group to be evaluated on, so it's all a homemade kit as everything else is with them. Another example of how Michelle gets away from doing anything over there. It should be HER responsibility start to finish.

I hope the Duggar kids don't try to outdo each other with outlandish/unusual/make a statement baby names. Even if they did decide to go with M for Michelle, at least Josh and Anna's kids have nice everyday names. Even being sheltered, Little Spurgie may have a long road ahead of him.

When reading that Grace is such popular name right now, especially for a middle name, I am reminded of the fact that, "NOAH " is extremely popular for boys & that's for a first name. Where were Jessa & Ben when searching for a strong Biblical name or was that now just too common a name for their baby boy? Seems to me the Duggars were always talking about, & teaching the little one about Noah & the ark. I have a daughter that teaches, & she will occasionally tell me what names are currently popular on the schools roster. It's no surprise to me that teachers she knows are hoping they will not be seeing an influx of little "Spurgeons," coming along. I told her that's not likely to happen, but then you never know, with all these young women who seem to worship Jessa they might just want a little: "Spurgeon," of their own.
Re: Josh & Anna ever having another baby. It's a well know fact that when there are serious problems in a marriage, adding another child into the mix is never a good idea, especially when the issues are the ones Anna is dealing with & I don't believe those will be resolved anytime in the near future. I see Jim Bob's handwriting all over that idea. I'm sure the Duggars see Anna's role still first & foremost, as Josh's wife. Have another baby & life will return to normal. What idiots. Anna needs to step up & let the entire Duggar family & her own as well, know that her first obligation is to her children. She cannot risk the safety of those children. Josh has supposedly been in therapy, what kind nobody seems to know. But it certainly isn't anything any better that whatever therapy he supposedly had as a teen & we all know what the outcome of that, "therapy," was. As I write this, I am thinking of Josh singing that stupid song to Anna at their wedding ceremony. I remember Jim Bob saying afterwards that any woman would love to have her husband sing to her during the wedding ceremony. Perhaps he should have been paying more attention to his wedding vows, than worrying about how well he was going to sing a love song that would make a big impression about his love for Anna in front of the families & assembled guests.

Heart in Florida said...

And herein lies the problem with their belief system: First, foremost and ALWAYS, they believe that a wife's priority is her husband, not matter what. I believe in theory, yes, the husband and wife are number one to each other, but take a back seat to another family member, temporarily, if that family member needs the attention. What does a wife do in their belief system, when the husband FAILS his wife and dishonors their marriage vows??? When their children are in any way "at risk" with their father? I would believe that a mother protects her cubs from ANY harm even if it's their own father. Step up in to your big girl panties, Anna, and protect your own children from a negative situation. Grow up and be the what, 26? year old woman you are. Jim Bob needs to pay through the nose for you and set you and your children up for life with an annuity account that you can at least draw from and live, being that he knowingly sold you damaged goods in Josh. In retrospect, knowing what we know now about the early Josh situation and his molestations in the home, etc.., Jim Bob and Michelle couldn't wait to marry their problem off to an innocent minded, unsuspecting uneducated child-bride. Well, pony up now, Duggars, and make it up to child-like Anna AND YOUR PRECIOUS grandchildren that you claim they are to you.

I'd just like to point out a picture I just spotted of some of the Duggar children on the Inquisitr site. The headline I clicked was the one that said Josh hopes new baby can halt Anna's divorce. Anyway, the picture that goes with the story is one showing the older Duggar children sitting around looking like they're meeting with Rick Santorum. He's seated in front with what looks to be a brown bottle (beer perhaps?) and some of the Duggars look to be drinking bottled water. If you look to the background behind all the Duggars there are shelves and shelves of wine bottles! Were they meeting in a wine store?...where liquor is served and sold? Isn't liquor of any kind against their belief system?...like dancing?

I can see how a new baby would save the marriage. If she has one more kid, with the infant and toddler plus the older ones, she will be too exhausted and beaten down to resist and even try to think of leaving. it will get her to just give up and realize she can't make it on her own with 5 little ones and all the pressure from the families. She will see there's no choice but to stay. So that will "save" the marriage. I'll bet that's what's in the back of JB's mind and Josh's as well.

Heart in Fl,well said.JB and M couldn't wait to rid of Josh and they downright tricked Anna and her family into thinking Josh was a Holy man of God and nothing less. They are liable for that.I don't see Anna ever doing anything about it,though.JMO

I just want to say that,as someone who knows this firsthand,if a woman is under sufficient stress, her body will not likely be receptive to getting pregnant.I know my cycles were all over the place when I was going through a stressful time, and I read it's the body's way of protecting a woman from having a baby during a time when it would not be good for her to have one.Anyone who has gone through this knows what I mean.

well if no one watch maybe they would cancel the show. hopeful they will. tlc has gone down hill in the past several years anyway. none of their shows are worth watching. accept maybe the little couple and the family from orgen or say yes to the dress.

The same article saying Josh wants to have another baby is also saying that
"The Duggar clan is attempting to keep their personal life under the radar." Really? Their FB pages continue to post endless photos, videos etc of both Jessa & Jill's babies. A letter from Jill to Jessa, with explanations in brackets, that clearly was meant for the readers and not a private letter to dear sister Jessa! And always the redirect from FB to the various family websites. I've heard it's so the Duggars and in-laws can make money from the clicks to their websites. This is them keeping their life under the radar?

Two things I feel need to be addressed from comments above. #1 on the matter of Anna being able to collect ANYTHING from Jim Bob if she divorces Josh is FALSE!! When you divorce the only person you are going to court against is your spouse. Not their parents siblings or anyone else. You can only access the joint assets of the married couple. #2 in regard to a woman's body being able to shut down a pregnancy if it's not in the interest of the mother is nothing short of Pro Life propaganda. A certain Republican office holder has attained great derision for asserting as such when it comes to rape. It is all FALSE and not based in fact. Pregnancy occurs when sperm meets egg regardless of the woman wanting one or not. Some people really need to be educated on these matters because Anna is at great risk and needs much support to get out of that hell hole.

Rob, I agree...
Years ago, one of my family members had cancer and his wife got pregnant- she thought she was missing her period out of stress, so she was 4-5 months along before she realized she was pregnant. Can't get pregnant out of stress, my arse.

That's all Anna needs is to read something like that and think she can 'fulfill her wifely duties' and not worry about getting pregnant cause she is stressed. Oy.

Jill & Jessa - Counting On. What a fitting title for a show. They are counting on people sending them money, they are counting on people watching their show, they are counting on people having a short memory and adoring them forever.

Heart in Florida said...

Rob, yes, I agree that officially the only one that Anna could go against is her husband, Josh and their assets of the marriage...but this family goes by their own rules. Unofficially and within the family situation, Kellers and Duggars, and their belief system, the patriarchy stuff, Mr. Keller should stand up for his daughter and
look to Jim Bob for righting this situation for his daughter. Officially, in court, yes, you are absolutely correct.
As far as a woman conceiving when stressed, yes, I agree, that you are right again..it is a roll of the dice with conception. Being stressed is NOT birth control by any means...but, it CAN affect a woman's cycle, ie she can be off schedule in her periods, thus affecting conception. But it's not likely.
Since this family doesn't do anything according to the heathen world's rules, I see Jim Bob Duggar responsible for Anna since his child-like son, Josh can't be the man he's supposed and expected to be in their belief system. Daddy steps in, as always.
I find it sad that Josh can't be honest with his parents, from the beginning, and tell them that he just doesn't buy in to their extreme belief system and wishes to lead a more mainstream life. Even with all the "bad" that he has done, I think this guy believes in God, etc. Shame on his parents who wouldn't accept him or any of his siblings who choose to live a bit more mainstream. Jesus would have no problem with that and I'm sure find those people suitable for His Kingdom in Heaven. Why shouldn't the judgmental Duggars?

Heart in Florida said...

Everything and anything the Duggars do and say is fueled by positive publicity and money for THEM and THEM ALONE. Their "family" has become their business and it has been that way for some years now. I would think it obvious to all by now. Facebook photos, "private letters" to sisters, etc. all of it is PUBLIC persona; another day at work for them and that's all. They really don't care one bit about their "fans", "followers", or fellow fundy followers. Remember what Jessa said: that they aren't a TV family, they're a family who is on TV...well, that makes them TV stars, doesn't it? Last time I checked, that's one's livelihood, therefore, work and business. Many of Jessa's statements were obviously rehearsed, as she isn't a good actress at all, and to me, I could tell she was coached to include "that porn magazine publishing company", etc., she was sure to get that one in. IF she leads such a Christian sheltered life, how would she know who heads up secular companies and what they print? She was told what to say...same for Jill's emotions and her
"Michelle tears".

If Anna wanted anything out of JB and M,that would be a separate lawsuit, not in relation to a divorce settlement. The truth is,they sold her a damaged bill of goods, did not inform her, nor her parents, of all of Josh's antics (like molesting a 5 yo) and they could be held accountable for that.
And I'm actually not pro-life,and my comment was based on my own experience and what I read about it (cortisol/stress hormones can interfere with reproductive hormones) and not based on what anyone else has claimed

RE: Denisean's comment about there not being an influx of "Spurgeons," that teachers would need to deal with. That's exactly what I told my daughter who is a teacher. I figured that the kids would be homeschooled, either that or just leave it up to the other kids in the class. Sadly kids can be bullies very often, but I think if a kid has a name like "Spurgeon," he needs to buck up & be prepared to fight his way through life. You probably aren't old enough to remember, but it reminds me of that old song by Johnny Cash: My name is:"Sue," referring to a boy who is given the name Sue, so he will become strong enough to fight his way through life. I find it very sad, as Spurgeon is a horrible first name & I feel it was done for publicity & only publicity.

Denisean said...

Wishing, you are darn right they named him that just for publicity, like other celebrities who pick weird names. What about when this boy is a grown man, or at least an older teenager- what girl wants a husband named Spurgeon? Yikes.

I agree Anna needs outta there for sure, but I don't entirely agree regarding fertility. Stress affects the hormone production, particularly cortisol levels which have an impact on fertility including ovulation. So if a woman is under prolonged stress it can certainly decrease chances of pregnancy. I think what the previous poster meant was that the hormone cortisol is part of our body's 'fight or flight' strategy in response to stress and that it can in some cases prevent pregnancy from occurring. I'm not suggesting it in the same pro life context you mention.

Whatever the case I hope Anna has the strength to part ways with the Duggars though it certainly doesn't appear that way.

That reddit conversation (https://www.reddit.com/r/casualiama/comments/3sm9y1/iama_16_year_old_male_who_is_in_the_duggar) is very interesting, if it can be believed. Jana is considered rebellious because she questions things... that means that JB doesn't have the answers!

Andrea said...

"So if a woman is under prolonged stress it can certainly decrease chances of pregnancy." Decreased chance of pregnancy but not as a form of birth control. Trust me a women's body can become pregnant under the most stressful of situations, otherwise we as humans would cease to exist. I think Anna needs to man up, find herself a lawyers and take the Duggar's to court. She and her children are entitled to a very generous trust fund, thus enabling them to live for many years without her having to work. Any lawyer would happily take on her case.

I think the reddit user is a fake or a catfish. He's too well written to be a 16 year old home school graduate. I notice that his profile has since been deleted. It was just too much content to have been written from a phone under the covers of his comforter so his dad didn't see him, as the reddit user claimed. If it was riddled with spelling errors and a little more incoherent and inconsistent, I'd say it was true.

Catty said...

Absolutely agree- I wasn't suggesting it to be a form of birth control just that it can reduce fertility. I was by no means suggesting it makes it impossible to conceive. I agree entirely that Anna could divorce, and I certainly hope she does.

The longer Anna remains with the Duggars the less chance there is that she will ever leave Josh. She should have left after the birth of her last baby. I just wish she would get out of that entire cult. I hate to see a young woman with 4 children remain with someone like Josh. Although I don't see her going home to her parents as any answer. They are just as bad as the Duggars, in my opinion. I'll never forget Mr. Keller smiling like the cat that swallowed the canary when Josh & Anna got engaged. I can't even remember how many times he mentioned how much he admired the Duggars & he always made sure to say that, it wasn't because they had a TV show. I thought then that was a case of someone who was protesting too much.

I think the DUggars break laws on homeschooling. I thought no one was allowed to teach, but a parent our guardian.

As far as stress and the ability to conceive go, it has nothing to do with what a politician says about the body shutting down fertility during rape so I prefer not to go there. Our bodies react differently to stress, which releases a hormone called cortisol. A woman's cycles can get heavier, get irregular,or skip altogether and physical illness can cause delays. Several unbiased medical sites point to that correlation, which may not be true for all. In general, stress causes many health issues in both genders.

Heart in Florida said...

The most important thing that Anna needs to be concerned about in all this first and foremost is her health and the health of her children. If Josh has indeed has sex with others including porn stars, Anna really needs to be tested for any STD that's out there, and her children should be too for fear of contracting anything during their births. Does this family ever think about this fact? Does Anna know that STDs exist? She has been so sheltered in her upbringing, I have to ask this question.

Syndee said...

"I hate to see a young woman with 4 children remain with someone like Josh."

You mean 5. Because you know that's what's going to happen with him home. She will announce that they are back together and that she's pg again by Christmas or at least NY's.

CATMOM said...

Heart in Florida...I also worry that Anna may not know about STDs because of her upbringing. It's so scary and sad to think that because of the Jesus-heavy, School of the Dining Room table, that she might not have been taught any of the common sense things. She was raised to believe you save sex for marriage and because your husband is "faithful," and "godly" he will never sleep around, hence one wouldn't have to worry about exposure to diseases. Poor Anna was sold a bill of goods on damaged goods.

Syndee said...

I just read somewhere (in the comments section of a people article) that, long ago,
it was the grandmother that was calling all the TV stations and other media outlets, trying to get donations or drum up interest in her son and M, with their 12 or 13 kids, or how many they had at that time. She also apparently pushed the Christian side, so they could get freebies.

I never heard that the grandmother was involved, anyone else hear that?

Syndee, YES, I have read in the "Alice account" of the early Duggars that it was also Grandma Duggar who was on the phone with soup companies, trying to get free cans of soup for her son and his family. Yes, she may have been the role model for Jim Bob...all the time, she was a real estate business owner, the yogurt shop job to boot, she was either the manager or owner and hired a high school student, Michelle after school to work there, so she had some "clout" at work..Her son had $250,000 to donate to a political campaign, all the while feigning poverty for his family to get stuff free. Such an abuse of people's donations. If they were starving, why have baby after baby? Did these two NOT have a thought of their own in their heads?

I can't help but think of all the people in the Keller's church that actually put on Josh & Anna's wedding. I remember all those people bending over backwards:How do you want the church decorated, go through tis book & pick out any wedding cake you want, we'll make all the food. They all did it all at their own expense. Anna's mom or Michelle never lifted a finger they showed up as if they were just important guest. You have to wonder how these people must feel now. I wish we would hear from some of them.

To Always: We will never hear from the people that helped put on the wedding. They will stay in the background and chalk it up to "service". And really, that is what it was. Most of us have been taken advantage of and those generous people were. Karma will get them-in a good way! Don't worry, one good turn deserves another. They did all of the work that they did because they thought they were helping two families that appeared to be really good examples to everyone. And, perhaps most importantly, to give a "pure" young couple a good start. After all of the yakking the two families did about holding off on the first touch and first kiss, they looked like a great example to many couples out there. I remember watching the wedding and having Anna's family list all of the food supplied and thinking "Wow! that's a lot of Chicken salad and punch, etc. to make and supply". I should have known. Sigh....

Well, Joshie has some real issues. The porn star he was having sex with is suing him for assault. It seems Josh likes to get rough during sex. I wonder if that proclivity was around with his wife. Poor Anna, it will be harder for her to stay with him now, even if he was inclined.

What a hypocrite that weasel is. When I think of him sprouting out about family values, I could spit. Pandora's box has been opened and who knows what else will be revealed. The media they all so love has a double-edged sword.

Well, well, well. This is like a sweet, heavenly dream. Danica (whose real name is ironically Ashley), a married mother of two, has filed a civil suit against Joshie. I hardly know where to start:
1. Firstly, I feel horrible about the negative impact on Anna and the M-kids.
2. If Anna doesn't divorce him after his prostitute sues him for roughing her up - it's just not going to happen.
3. I predict the Duggars will find everyway possible to publically blame Danica / Ashley and/or Anna.
4. The fast sale of Josh and Anna's house for $1 now makes perfect sense. I'm sure all other assets are now hidden. Note to JB: that's pretty transparent and a good lawyer will uncover that maneuver toot-sweet.
5. Moving Josh to "rehab" quickly now seems more like a tactic to delay papers being served.
6. I'm quite sure Jim Bob has no cronies to back-slap at the courthouse in Philadelphia who will help make this go away.
7. Bring on the depositions!!! Please depose EVERYONE! Let's start with Josh's history of child molestation, shall we?
8. What do the Wisdom Booklets say about slapping around sex workers while your pregnant wife is home praying?
9. Will the Duggars settle and try to save face or will Jim Bob keep a hand on his wallet and try and march forth with Jesus on his shoulder?
10. Whatever you do Josh - I'm begging you - PLEASE act as your own lawyer, please.

Heart in Florida said...

What I find to be quite dishonest about this family, and it begins with the parents, is that courting/wedding era of Josh and Anna on TV. We all know the Duggar parents were fully aware of what they were hiding about Josh and his past already and yet they aired an episode having Josh pontificate about how great it is to be pure, and keep one's purity, etc. blah, blah. What was dishonest about that, IMO, is that was worded, and aired like it was supporting a state that Josh was in and had maintained HIMSELF. This family has behaved like heathens if you ask me all along and now the covers are off. The parents get me ticked off the most because it all "starts at the top" and they are the "cake topper" on the cake of hypocrisy. Now their married daughters are allowed to be the closest to a person that they are allowed to be in their own right, because it "allowed" by their husbands, and they are spouting all the nonsense that they have had drilled in their heads since birth and sound like sheltered, undereducated, inexperienced in the world know-nothings. Why are their parents proud of them? The only thing those girls accomplished was to keep their hymens intact. Shame on the parents.

Helen Crump said...

I'm sorry to say that I believe Anna had quite a substandard life in that trailer in Florida with her parents. Why is it that her parents look like they could use a diet, when their own children, like Anna, sported a "boy-like" shaped body and her face seemed drawn and undernourished when she was "courting Josh"? Anyone else note this? I'm not body shaming the Keller parents nor Anna and her siblings here, but I recently saw a photo posted of Anna and Josh, pre marriage and right after their wedding. Anna looked undernourished to me. I'm glad she has more to eat now and hopefully has been eating better since as she looks much better now than then; although with all those pregnancies, she looks older for her age.
