How could Jana be left behind? Was Jessa her chaperone? How did the rest of the family get by without her since Michelle is clueless.

Why do they need to go here again? I hate to see them all wearing brand new SOS tee shirts while the poor people down there are dressed in rags. Don't they feel guilty ? They would be better off helping to build a well or a privy. I have no idea what their purpose is down there. Go serve at the Friendly Church in Arkansas instead. They could use help. JB really doesn't want to do any work, he just likes prancing around and having his picture taken.

Boring boring Bennie-boy. He has a bad case of inertia.

Sounds as interesting as watching Ben mow the yard.

I guess they are so limited in what they are allowed to do we are just going to have to enjoy watching them do what most of us considers the mundane parts of life.

And next week we will get to watch them putting in lightbulbs. I can't wait for that episode.

The country that Jill and Derick are "ministering in" is already a Christian one. Why are they there? I also find it inappropriate that they have a TV show, and ARE BEING PAID for it when they are asking for donations simultaneously. I ALSO find Jill's home to be a disgrace. It is a disorganized mess. She is a "stay at home" mother and has ONLY ONE child...I was the same and my house NEVER looked like that. Why does a family of THREE need 50 plastic bowls? All those colorful plastic bowls were piled up drying on the kitchen counter; looks like they were there for quite a while. She is a slob, IMO, and Derick must be the same, if he weren't he couldn't continue to live in that mess without having to say something to Jill to clean up. His appearance has taken a nose dive; he looks unkempt; raggedy and very tired. No need to live like that in an already Christian country. These two just don't have a clue. Cathy must be shaking her head in disappointment; her son wasted his college education; something many young people would appreciate much more and Michelle????, well, she has failed as a mother who claimed to have "trained" all of her daughters to grow up and be a good housewife,,,cook, clean, sew, etc. Seems that none of her daughters know how to keep a neat home or COOK ANYTHING...I believe that Jessa's house is neater because of Ben. He has taught Jessa to eat well, take GOOD care of her health, not just her appearance; and I believe prefers a neat house. Not bad for a 20 year old kid....even though he's a prejudiced "Christian".

I feel that they are a couple of kids playing house. Jessa can't cook and Jill is a slob. I feel so sorry for Josh because he never got the bonding nurturing and proper guidance while growing up I mean how are you suppose to get that with 18 other siblings around if Josh grew up and had a regular life lived in a community instead of the family duggars compound with friends and experiences like any other kid he wouldn't be going through all this crap if he had real parents other than JB or m he could have got real help by professionals who know what they are doing. Over all I believe it is the fault and responsibility of JB and m as to why their eldest sons life is a train wreck.

If the family shuns Josh he might as well go to the media and write expose books telling all about the cult and why that lead to him doing what he did. I'd watch that and I betcha a lot of others who refuse to watch Jill and Jessa's "Dragging On" show would too. You hear that TLC? If you want a real money maker go after Josh. He has the real story we all want to hear.

Jen said...

Jessa freaks me out: sitting on the couch all day, staring at her baby ... Is it just me or are the Duggars super slow? Maybe it's their idea of seeming graceful?

Michelle said...

I'm with you Ashleigh. Though Josh is responsible for his own actions and knows right from wrong. I think the parents are just as responsible. Josh never had a chance with those freaks. I really wish he would speak up and say he believes the way he was raised was BS.

Ruby said...

No Jen, itś not you. The Duggars don´t really cover much ground. Jessa can´t wrap her head around cooking turkey till itś done and watching the clock to cook two birds of differing weights. Itś not rocket science. Yet she makes it sound like she would have to be a mental giant to accomplish such a complicated task. Yikes.

Syndee said...

I agree with Ashleigh too, but though Josh is responsible for his own actions, does he really know right from wrong? I wonder. If spending "alone time" with himself in the bathroom resulted in severe punishment and humiliation for a whole day, maybe there is some warped path of logic that would say going after a girl (even a sister) is less or at least an equal sin. That's what frightens me about the Gothard way. With all the bizarre rules and squashing of human nature, no telling what deviance is growing in those kids.

I read that once from someone who left the quiverfull movement. He said the physical pressures were so great and he knew if he touched or even thought of touching himself it was a horrible sin, so once he cracked and figured I sinned and have already fallen from God, I may as well sin again. That's how he had explained his own sister-touching experience.

I grew up Catholic and even with that rather benign religion, people came up with weird twisted ways around the rules. Like if they had sex, they didn't use BC because then well, that is two sins. On Fridays if you got pizza, the sausage one was the "sinners pizza" and the cheese one was the holy one.

Is there a list of the advertisers from Counting On, or is TLC still counting on advertisers running back?

Missy said...

I don't know about others but I am sick to death of seeing ads with Joseph & Jana talking about how dangerous it is in Central America. If Jill & Derrick want to risk their lives & their child's life due to all this danger because they are missionaries let them. Why do all the Duggars have to haul themselves there to give out soccer balls & candy, while the girls paint little girls nails. They are not there to help them obtain clean water, good food or medicine. They are not digging wells or building homes. They are just advertising themselves in another part of the world:"Here come the Duggars." Isn't it wonderful, we will risk life & limb just to give you a "grande festiva" as Jim Bob yells at the top of his lungs actually scaring people. I'm sure there are atheists who would give needed gifts to those children. It does not need to be done in the name of, Duggar Christianity!

Helen Crump said...

The young Josh incident was wrong, plain and simple, but it's what occurred after that that bothers me. Josh was indoctrinated even harder after those events, his whole family tightened up the modesty rules as a result of it. From that point on, Josh had to conform exactly to how his parents said he had to believe and live if he wanted to continue to be a part of his family. These parents don't love their children unconditionally, as they claim that God loves THEM. Josh should have had the ability to tell his parents that he just didn't believe as severely as they believe and wanted to live a more moderate Christian life; but he couldn't because he would have never been accepted. Now, the eyes of the TV world are on them and how they handle this...if they were in private, I believe they would have kicked him our of their family as a result. Josh's preferences went to that extreme, (Ashley Madison, strippers, etc) because of him having to live in secret and he went over the top with those things. I belive that if his parents allowed him to live like a regular Christian person, he wouldn't have had to resort to such extremes. His parents are really to blame here; he shouldn't have don't what he did; yes, that's true, but like the rest of us, he is a product of his homelife. Pressures in that cult are all around and it makes some people "snap". I hope that this guy one day could live the type of life he wants to live and not lose his family over it. He should have been free to tell Anna that he didn't want a classroom of children; etc. but he didn't have that option. What a sad shame.

According to ads, the entire family with the exception of; Jessa & Jana are going to CA. Are they really taking the younger ones like; Jenny, Jordyn & of all things Josie, who I believe to be a fragile child? I certainly wouldn't want to see her suffer a seizure. If they do show everyone going, will they ever show them getting the proper inoculations? We never see them getting immunizations?

I mean seriously!! Jessa wants to adopt children because it looks really good on her 'future ministry star' resume? More show! More make-believe!

Do you mean Ben is going too. He is now a Duggar, isn't he? Can he leave Jessa to handle things without him? Imagine Jana having a day to herself to take a long bath....or will she do something really daring, like take the car out by herself and drive up and down the road without a chaperone?
Will she stay at Jessa's....or will she lock herself in her room in that big house at night? Will little sister Jessa allow Jana to see her boyfriend while Ma and Pa are gone? Stay tuned for more exciting adventures.

If & that's a huge "IF" Jessa does adopt, it will never be from an adoption agency here in the states & even from overseas it's questionable. My daughter & son-in-law adopted a child from a 3rd. world country & it took 2-3yrs. for them to adopt. They are both highly educated, have great jobs, a beautiful home & had been married for a number of yrs. It was a well established 2 parent home. None the less it cost them a fortune, in what was basically pay offs to various government agencies, not to mention how many times they had to pay for their air fare to & from the country from which they were adopting. Ben & Jessa are children, using "adoption" as a ploy to get viewers to tune in & it's certainly the most un-Christian thing one can do. I think it cast adoptions such as my grandchild's in a poor light to say the least & it infuriates me

Heaven help me I watched The Willis Family, then Counting On came on. By some unseeable force, I was tempted to watch it. What was I thinking?? Well, here is what I am thinking now!

That is one hour that I will never get back, This show is so scripted and boring. I did make a few observations though. Beginning with Jessa, she is her mother's daughter. She had not swept under her furniture since they moved in. That is lazy! Ben seems to be completely checked out. Am I the only one that sees this? Being trapped in Duggarville is getting to him. I know some don't like Ben' s family. But he was raised differently. They are more educated, more classy, and socialize their childrenand allow them to grow. I see Ben cringe at some of the things Jessa says, especially about the baby. Derick and Jill, oh boy! I am a Christian and feel they don't have a true ministry. Yes, we are to share Jesus, the Great Commission. But we are to help the poor and those in need.when we do this, we do this for Christ. Most of the people in CA know Christ, they need real help. Bless their hearts, they live in real poverty. Jana, Jana, Jana....she isn't allowed to do anything but be their slave. Did you notice how they addressed how the public feels she is trapped? It is more of the Duggar PR, or lies. Anna is is trapped..imho. I could not imagine living in a girls bedroom at my inlaws. Do they lock Anna in the room at night too?? And now Jinger. Why does she have a used car lot?? She is an amazing photogragher! She isn't allowed to pursue it! I guess Jimperv bought her one to keep close to the compound. Is she courting and Jimperv wants this son in law trapped in Duggarville too? Is it a setup so Joshie will have a job?

Sorry about the long post. But these people drive me crazy! lol

I noticed the "Sorry, that was Josh" comment too. Have no idea what it meant.

I watched bits of the show. When Jana was asked what she would need on a deserted island, I was surprised by her and her siblings' answers. A few years ago when the Duggars where promoting their "we are perfect but not perfect" lives I'm sure the Bible would have been the first answer but it wasn't even mentioned.

Jen said...

That was really boring and it was mean to ask Jana about her future... There's nothing she can say or do as Jim Bob makes all the decisions.

The Josh-comment is weird ...

of course... said...

Josh was probably there, out of rehab. That is probably the reason Jana stayed home and didn't go to CA. She probably wanted to keep an extra eye on the little ones.

Ginny said...

Re:Tammy C's comment about Josie. You are absolutely correct about Josie traveling since she was 23 months. That doesn't mean it was the right thing for a fragile child & how many seizures has she had since then. She also was very ill on one of their trips & Michelle & Jill had to stay long after the family went home. There is just nothing to educated such a young child about. Are you going to show them that soccer balls & candy will solve their problems of hunger, no drinking water that's fit to drink, as well as no good medical care?

Wishing said...

Let just say for a moment that Jessa & Ben do adopt. Is that child going to have the advantages that the children the Little Couple adopted do? Those 2 little ones live in a nice home, have a good diet, go to pre-school & kindergarten, are exposed to so many outside activities. The comparison is so far from what Jessa & Ben's "adopted child" will get it is beyond belief.

I kept my word that I would not watch since watching it runs up the numbers and keeps that hot mess on. That said, I come here to find out what went on. So what did they say they would need on a deserted island?

Wonder Why said...

Where those really backpacks the Duggars were taking to CA. What are the kids there supposed to put in them. Are they to carry books that they don't have, to a non-existent school? Or are they for their daily lunch & snacks that they don't have? Perhaps they are to carry their uniform for a sport they play or for an instrument in this non-existent school. I know that's what most kids around here carry in their backpack. I'll bet they were donated to them as the all looked exactly the same.

Missy said...

I also don't understand why Jessa & Ben had to take the baby with them for their very first date after his birth. Anna was around, as was Jana & some of the other Dugars. They were not all in CA. I couldn't believe how Sierra has ingratiated herself into the family. Jessa said they have been friends for 5yrs. She was never seen or heard from before they needed her for a wedding planner.

An adoptee's family said...

It's beyond my belief that Jessa thinks she can do a domestic adoption, since I know well what's involved. One thing they won't make an exception on, is child must have their own room for starters & just so many other requirement that's just beyond belief.

Waiting said...

I remember that Josie was very ill in Israel. Michelle, Jill, Josie & a Dr. had to fly home from that trip on a private plane, after Josie was kept there for at least 10 days after the rest of them went home. Michelle slept on the plane ride home & Jill handled Josie. TLC must have paid for that private plane ride home as they had set up the trip & it was way before John became the pilot & the Duggars acquired a plane.

Just Me said...

For those who think Jessa is the bossy one & I totally agree with that, but please take another look at Joy. I always loved that girl, but she has become such a task master & so very bossy the others have a long way to go to keep up with her. As I said she was always one of my favorites but boy has she changed ordering the older ones around.

TooTall said...

The whole "present" packing scene seemed to be carefully filmed as to not show people's heads or perhaps someone that was in the background that shouldn't have been there

Ruby said...

Jessa is bossy and lazy and cold. She is just kind of dead inside. She speaks calmly but you can tell that inside she's thinking and feeling something else. She has this tiny baby and she's talking about adoption like she wants to hoard children. Like she isn't happy and satisfied with the one she has. Does she even love that baby? Does she love Bin? Is she capable of loving anyone but herself? Stay tuned for the next episode to find out.

S said...

Jessa was asked if she knew what a "task master" is. Of course, she had no clue. Gosh golly, the way she just sits on the couch staring at her baby you would conclude that she has lost brain cells since childbirth. What IS she thinking about these days? It's a very vacant stare.

Just asking said...

I read that this episode lost 300,000 viewers from the previous week. The most important news was that 7 companies have voiced displeasure that their ads were run during the show & they don't want it to happen again. So, I guess, keeping the pressure on the advertisers would be the answer.

Jeanette said...

I've been a faithful viewer from the beginning, but this show is now dull. I've loved watching the children growing up, and would much rather several special episodes a year, perhaps showing an event, than weekly episodes where I watch people eat tacos and install light fixtures. I do still want to see the kids, though. Not interested in seeing the parents who accused homosexuals of endangering children while concealing the fact that their oldest child molested 5. I do believe in redemption, but it's very difficult for me to see them. Also, I think Sierra is the new Amy. Amy burned many bridges selling out her family for interviews and I think she's been relieved of her tv show duties.

Apparently some sponsors are just furious about their ads being used on the Jill & Jessa & Counting show. A number of them have said that the Duggars are on life support & they don't want their company associated with any show that features the Duggars!!

Jessa openly admitted she hadn't cleaned under Ben & hers bed since they moved in. When I saw the dust Jessa retrieved from undr the bed I wanted to hurl. Jessa is a dirty housekeeper. Evidently when Jessa lived in the Duggar home she never grasped the concept of Michelle's jurisdictions. That family is just Nuts & Boring!

Missy said...

Re: Ruby's comments. Jessa is just following in her mother's footsteps if she isn't satisfied with the baby she has & is looking for another. We all remember how Michelle totally ignored her absolutely beautiful Jenny & Jordyn & just had to have Josie. As soon as Josie's ordeal was behind them, she was on to Jubilee. Another case of the apple doesn't fall far from the tree

It is pretty clear that TLC is trying to present the grown kids as independent and taking charge at home. Not buying it --and sick of being lied to and sick of TLC misrepresenting what the family is really all about. What we saw last summer with Jim Bob and Michelle being interviewed by Fox News and the two of them trying to explain their pervert son is the reality of this family. They are delusional members of a sick cult and money hungry country bumpkins who need to go away. They misrepresent Christianity every time they open their mouths.

There was this Christian movie called The 5 Day Adoption that the Duggars promoted. "The Incredible True Story About The Power Of Prayer and Courageous Faith In God in a Family's Adoption Process That Took Only 5 Days"
I didn't feel like renting it, but I really doubt these guys went through proper channels and had all their requirements checked out. It was probably some teenage fundie that couldn't keep the baby so the parents pressured her to give it to another fundie family. I'll bet Jessa is going for one of these things. I'm sure it would make a great story line and put her as a hero.

Jessa says Bin changes all the diapers. So when does Bin work? When this was filmed baby Spurg was a month old. Has Bin been changing daaaapers for a month straight while lazy Jessa looks at herself in the mirror? Honestly, those two are so low energy. No jobs, no goals, no hobbies even. Jessa has a tiny house to care for and apparently doesn't cook, what does she do with her time?

Rudy Tecat--when Jana was asked what three things she would take with her on a deserted island she answered "coffee and cheese". (That's two things, Jana.) Guess she forgot she was supposed to say "Bible" too cause that's the correct fundie answer.

There are more hoops to jump through before Jessa and Benjerman adopt. Benjerman is going to have to prove some sort of steady income, which might be a problem.

I agree. I thought she began showing those stripes when Ben first entered the scene. I remember her driving him around the compound on the ATV and giving him the third degree and treating him like he was lower than her. All in the name of seeing if he was "right" for Jessa. I'm sorry, but that whole courtship was more of a hazing than anything else. I don't remember Derek going through anything like that. But I digress. Joy is showing a mean and bossy streak that is very unbecoming, IMHO.

Regarding Jessa's blank stare - I think it is probably due to lack of sleep. When my son was first born, he didn't sleep more than 45 minutes at a stretch, and I was a zombie. I was nursing and up every 45 minutes to feed him. My mother asked me a very simple question (Where is the laundry hamper?) and I just stared at her like she'd asked me to analyze a complicated calculus problem. I'm going to cut Jessa a little slack for that expression, because I couldn't complete the simplest tasks for the first couple months of my son's life.

I think I have it figured out about adoption. The Central American kids are going to open an adoption business for Christians to save souls. They can provide babies given to them from their missionary work.

It would be a way to ask for money to help with the poor babies as well as ask for money from possible parents.

Rosa said...

Jana would take cheese, coffee and a sibling. Bless her heart that she is so indoctrinated into that lifeste that she thinks she MUST always be taking care of someone. Or maybe she is being protective and knows that mama is not capable of it.

Also, when the rumor is that she has dated a guy who has his own business it smells fundie to me. If he sweeps porches for a living then to fundies he is a business owner. (I know someone whose dog got pregnant by a neighbor dog all of a sudden she claims to be on the dog breeding business so she could write off the food and other expenses on her taxes.)

When Jessa gets up at night to feed baby Spurg-Quincy, does she make Bin get up too to change the diaper? What is the point of that? If you are up, change the diaper. Infant care in the middle of the night is not a two person job, generally speaking.

Rudy Tecat, true old nasal Ben must prove employment to adopt. However the Duggars always seem to get by with everything that isn't equitable. Ben will probably list employment as a reality star. This may give (unfortunately) the Seewalds the opportunity to adopt. These Duggars are allowed so many passes or organizations just ignore & look the other way. My question is why & why do they get by with this behavior. For the Duggars their fame will not last forever. The numbers for J & J Dragging On are less than stellar. I mean watching the Duggars implement new light fixtures & Ben & Jessa on a taco date. I mean TLC is this the best You've got? Where is the creativity? I suppose with a Cult Fundie family anything interesting is a real stretch. I am one who does not watch the Duggars. I learned about the most recent episode through a friend.

Re: Those who have noticed the change in Joy. It's a shame that she's being shown in that light. If she is really that way everyday, even when the cameras are not rolling, that's even worse. I also loved Joy but she doesn't resemble the girl she used to be. Believe me, I'm happy that she is trying to show a grown up side to her personality but she's has gone too far bossing everyone around. When they were at Jessa's house & she said; "give me that kid." It's so sad that in order to show that she's not a child anymore, she has to take on this role in the family. I guess one of them has to be in charge, because it must be yrs. since Michelle took on that role. Anyway it's not becoming on Joy. I don't even recognize the Joy who was always one of my favorites.

I am ok with Joy not keeping sweet. These kids are brainwashed to be sweet and sunny all the time, so when we see one not being that way, it actually makes me a little happy. She will likely grow out of it, but it is clear to me that she has inherited Jessa's role as family organizer and task master. Joy, like the others is a bit socially delayed, and she comes across more as a 15-16 year old. Kids that age tend to be somewhat obnoxious and think they know everything. Often times by the time they get close to 18-20, they start to pull out of that behavior a bit, but it can still linger in some until early to mid-20s. I just think that is where Joy is developmentally now. She has a bit of that obnoxious teenager sass going on. She will probably out grow it, or maybe her stronger personality will help propel her out of that mess altogether and she will be the first kid to break away.

What I noticed about the packing scenes at the TTH is that JB and M are really not even needed in that family. The kids do the work, and what do they do?

And btw, Michelle stayed home so Jana had to stay home to help Michelle with the "little" kids, who really are not all that little anymore. Mother of the Year Michelle should be able to handle a group of kids ranging from about 10 to 6. Especially if she has successfully blanket trained those kids into submission.

I mean, really, kids that age can dress themselves, can follow directions and since they don't leave the house for school, there is not tight schedule to have to follow. It shouldn't be hard for their own mother to keep the kids for 2 weeks, but No, Jana/Cinderella, has to be available to not only Michelle to help with the kids, but apparently she is also at Jessa's beck and call to help remodel her house.

Why did Jana have to stay back home and "help" take care of the "little kids", who can walk, talk, and eat by themselves? Can't Michelle take care of her own children, heck, isn't Mary Duggar there to back her up while doing the laundry?

Re: Joy's obnoxious behavior. If she is acting out (I don't watch the show) she isn't the only one. We have heard smart aleck remarks from many of the older girls - Jessa, and even Jana. I am not defending Joy at all. She, as well as several of the receding hairlines, gave Bin and Derick a HARD time during the are-you-good-enough-to-be-a-Duggar testing time period. Josh was SO obnoxious until Bin whipped his b*tt doing chin-ups. Even John-David found an arrogant voice at the time. Guess the devil made home do it.
Wonder who wants to be a Duggar NOW?!

They're saying that Michelle didn't go to Central America with the family, but we know that she did go, at some time, to Central America with Jim Bob. I'm guessing she was in CA with the rest of the family but for only part of the time. Maybe flew out later and met them there? Or that whole bit about her staying home was fake and her going to the airport to meet the family when they returned was filmed at a different time.

Jessa is so fascinated by Spurg that she can't take her eyes off of him. He is adorable. Do you think she will be that crazy over a little adopted kid that doesn't have the Duggar genes?Wonder how it makes Ben feel since she used to act crazy about him. He was the sperm donor so she should act nicer to him.

Re:LAMcp's comment about Joy. As I have mentioned a number of times, Joy has always been a favorite of mine & I'm happy that she's becoming her own person, or at least as much as she can in that household. However, I feel she has gone too far with her sassy attitude. It wouldn't bother me if she acted that way with her older siblings but she is acting that way to the little ones & they have had enough of that bossy attitude, instead of love & kindness from Jessa for quite some time. I hope you're correct & that she'll grow out of it. As far as being the one who manages to leave, we are well aware that Michelle is intent on breaking Joy's "spirit" & maybe that's why she appears so bossy. I can't believe a mother would want to break her daughters spirit. There's nothing wrong with a young women who can hold her own in the world, especially in this day & age. Michelle has said it about Joy & Hannie & we can see Hannie becoming a shrinking violet. God bless those kids they are all going to end up with various behavior problems, either from rebelling or from trying to follow the Duggar rules.
