what guys can give successful courtships. these duggar girls do not even know what a real relationship is. I think jinger is the only one that daddy duggar is not watching and listen to everything they say. Jermery just wants to kiss her. also this duggar man have never been in a real courtship. and Ben and derrick are not duggar men. and that leaves jim bod and josh. jim bod had a world relationship with michelle and josh is not suppose to be on tv and he has issues already so he could not say anything. all their courtship are a failure in my book.

Heart in Florida said...

Sorry, TLC, I don't want to see old courtships rehashed yet again on this "new TV show". We already know their courtship rules as the girls and JB have stated them hundreds of times. Does Jinger also have to begin all of her "THs" with "I am in a courtship with Jeremy Vuolo..." redundant.

When will TLC wake up and shut this show down?

They call them "guys" because they are certainly not men. Real men would never put up with this charade.

Anybody else thinks that those episodes full of warmed up footage is a way for TLC to cut the spending on filming this show? There are barely any advertisers left, that means that filming this show comes straight out of TLC's pockets. By using old crap and talking head interviews they cut spending way down.

Paying to create a garden or build that playhouse is relatively cheap compared to flying a whole bunch of people all over the world like they used to do. I mean, even the trip to New York for the engagement didn't include the whole shebang.

I don't get why they don't cut the cord. TLC has cancelled shows for much less than that. Could the Duggars have something over TLC's head? I don't have any clue as to what, I'm just thinking out loud.

Elspeth said...

There is nothing the Duggars "could have over TLC" that wouldn't rebound on the Duggars. TLC is getting something from airing the Duggars. The advertisers that they get are enough to cover production costs or TLC is willing to accept a slight loss to boost their viewership numbers to get higher ad rates overall. There is some factor that is not obvious to most of the viewing audience that makes it a valid business decision to keep the Duggars on for at least this season.

Wendy Heusel said...

anyone wonder why jinger has not said when she is getting married? they have a date set but not saying. I bet tic is keeping it under wraps so they can get a lot of people to watch next season? jessa and jill both said right away when they were getting married?

It isn't rocket science. said...

For whatever reason people watch....because they are fans and adore them or those who claim they don't like them and think TLC should shut it down.... Those are the folks who keep them on.

It has nothing to do with how much they are adored or detested. It is all about how many are watching.

"TLC is getting something from airing the Duggars." Agree with Elspeth. At the end of the day it's dollars and cents. The Duggar's appear on People covers and other trash magazine covers so there is obviously an interest, which translates to viewers and advertising dollars. The show is averaging a million viewers a week and the show is completely boring and scripted. I think TLC will continue to keep the show on the air until a) something really, really bad happens (child molestation charges, etc. or something much, much graver) or b) the Duggar's themselves call it quits. At the end of the day, the adult daughters are quite attractive, they have four additional girls trailing behind and they are the complete opposite of the Trashashian's, which is oddly refreshing for TV. I personally, don't watch the TV show, but eagerly read what's written here, follow them on social media and watch the clips uploaded to TLCs website. That said, it's odd they're TV stars at all, but perhaps that's the appeal. The adult children are really, really dull with little charisma in front of the camera, with occasional exceptions.

Gen-agree, like most on here, why haven't they cut this limp cord.
Compared to some I have not seen much overall of the show, pointless as it is all over the internet. I often wonder why there is a show because all of the details are available before air date.
The amount of replayed footage during the show, previews and commercials is utterly ghastly and excessive. TLC-(Too Little Cells in the brain) must have robots on staff or something.
A Guy's GUide to Repeating the Same Lame Stuff Incessantly is what this episode should really be called. They are so out of touch they don't realize they repulse most. Everyone who is normal laughs at/feels really sorry for you.
John David works his butt off, is an adult with several skills to make it on his own, and has been told he cannot live is his OWN house until he is married!!
jim bob is displaying the ultimate control measure with this.
I would not be surprised to hear he has never done a load of his own laundry. He is an emotionless, depthless, boring robot, just as his parents ordered. They are so proud.
On a side note Amy is coming out with a show, which I predicted months ago due to certain social media comments.
She is pretty annoying and over the top, but real.
I actually feel sorry for her that no duggars wished her a happy birthday. Hateful, judgemental and unaccepting. She IS NICE. SHE is REAL. maybe she's kind of....but it hurts when your family disses you like that.
Will never watch her show. I have better things to do than watch other women getting their nails done.
Same thing with the duggars. Why is there a television show about normal things the rest of us do? Eat, coffee, nails, babies, airplanes. Ummmmm today were gonna like put lights in a like ceiling oh my godddd.
Ummmm today were gonna liiikkkee go eat tacooooosss. Omg!!! like look at my mismatched used clothes and sandals in November in the winterrrrr.umm today I'm going to tell my father when I like have sex, because thats what he like to knooowwww.
(Think hillbilly valley girl).
always feel like I went too hard the next day Cuz I post Late at night after work but I feel like the thoughts have validity.
In a sadness, I just wish personal freedom for ALL. Kudos to everyone's insight and perspective. Cheers to all

Oh also, why wouldn't they air Amy's wedding? So weird! And will they shown that Derrick is subbing on the show? Why can't we remove ourselves from this family???

Willow said...

Jinger has stayed mum about her wedding plans and Jessa has stayed relatively quiet about her pregnancy so far. Yes, far different than she and Jill handled things before. For what it is worth, Derick's brother Dan is getting married Nov. 12th. Another family friend is getting married Nov.17th, so those two days are probably out. I don't think they'll use Jessa's anniversary date of Nov. 1st, would they?

Auggie said...

My guess is that when Jinger's proposal is to be aired on TLC the date of her wedding will be released a couple of days earlier.....to draw in more viewers.

Aunt Bea said...

I thought JinJer were getting married in October? Any licenses taken out in TX, AR, or PA in their names?

gen said...

Amy gets a bad rep, but I'm not sure it's all deserved.

Is she a little over the top. Yes, 100%. She's annoying, but not more so than Jill.

But she was pulled into this mess of a show so the Duggars could show how accepting and benevolent they are. She is a lesser person after all. Being born in sin and everything.

What young person wouldn't take the chance to be on national television and maybe, just maybe, become a star themselves. We live in an era where A LOT of the people at the top of the popularity chart have gotten there by having a sex tape of having a family member who has a sex tape. Compared to that, Amy is very tame. Heck, we have no idea what TLC had promised her when she got into this.

TLC needed her to be the airbrained child of sinful parents because it boosted the Duggars image of pure and accepting Christians. They showed us what they needed to show us to get that effect. They made her look really bad at times. I would be curious to see the real Amy.

We know that what we see on that show is not reality. Josh is a creep (because his parents made him so). Michelle doesn't know what to do with herself in a house. Jim Bob is a control freak. If they worked this hard to make them all look good, they put the same effort in making her look bad. I have no doubt that the Duggar name has been more of a curse than a blessing to her and if it's true that she mainly used her dad's name (see, fabrication by TLC there if they made her use Duggar) then good for her.

gen said...

Jinger might just be cliché enough to have a Christmas wedding.

Ds:
The last episode I watched (and someone on here mentioned the same thing about last week's episode) mostly ran commercials for other shows. On that episode the commercials that weren't for TLC shows were for shows on other networks who basically want to take TLC viewers away because that's how network competition work. A lot of the companies that used to advertise products are gone.

I've been saying why do people continue to watch the Duggrs ever since that ostentatious funeral for Jubilee. I don't object to a small family funeral but they went way overboard. People wondered what church they held the service in & who televises the burial of a miscarried fetus? Just a little sample of all their craziness, i.e. the girls courting, not being able to hold hands with their intended while saying a prayer, sending a chaperone to follow Jill in the church when she & Derrick were going to call the hospital to see I his mom could make it to the wedding, only an hour before the service & Jim Bob wants to know, not just do thy have a chaperone, but do they have a "good chaperone." Michelle's wedding dress, on display at Jill's wedding, for no reason at all. That dress didn't actually belong to her in the first place, she had borrowed Jim Bob mother's dress until TLC came along & got her a new dress for vow renewals ceremony. I'm sure many people have much longer lists than I have re: the Duggars. It's way past time for them to be off TV & it was beforethe Josh scandals. But of course they use "Duggartime," so that probably makes a difference.

laura said...

Gen yes!! I feel super annoyed by Amy yet deep down as a human know she tries and cares. And how many of us know what its like to be on camera am the time? Of course it weird and awkward. I bet most of annoying Amy is due to the cameras.
Remember seeing the little ones on this TH and they hammed it up?? Adults aren't immune from this.
She doesn't want those poor babes being suffocated religiously like they are!!

Courting rules again??? Seriously this is the best they could come up with? Wouldn't it be great if TLC is secretly trying to sabotage the show by making it a dull and repetitive as can be? Wishful thinking...

Ben is so confusing. That stupid back pack--that stupid hat---those stupid t shirts with a message, can't he just wear a normal neutral color, normal size, plain, new, clean shirt that actually fits? Is it really that hard???? Does it always have to have a criptic God message or show off his biceps or be some dumb pastel thrift store find?

Jeanette said...

I despise the arrogant bravado used when trying to find out if the guy is good enough to court their sister/daughter. Have they ever considered that the potential groom's family is wondering if the Duggar girl is good enough for their son?

Eloise said...

Is the groom good enough to join a family of lazy people who have yet to get a real job, other then some phony help Jimbob chore? How can Jimbob ask a man if he can support his uneducated daughter when his own grown sons sit around all day with no jobs. This is except for the older twin who does work but should move out by now and start a real life, not live in a dorm room with little brothers.

Lydia said...

This episode was a total rehash as expected. No one cares what kind of spouse these lazy Duggar males want. No woman wants to marry a Quiverfull, sexist, misogynistic unemployed kid who wants to play all day and get them pregnant as often as possible. Their life would be hell. If TLC is trying to kill this show----this episode did it for me. And did I really hear Jinger say "I love you" when Jeremy asked her if they could start dating. Good Grief!

I still want to know if Michelle was always off with her buddy being joyfully available and Grandma Mary was busy on the phone telethon calling to get help for all the kids her son was siring who taught Jana how to sew?

Graduation certificates (framed no less!) from "Duggar Academy" -- really? Geesh.

Just Unbelivable said...

Of all the Duggar ministry/shows that TLC has put on over the many past several yrs. nothing has ever been boring as this one. Who wants to see these boys sit around discussing what color hair they want their future wife to have (if their ever is one.) Will she be a brunette or blond, outgoing or quiet? Then their sister chime in to give their opinions. What would be the perfect wife for their brothers? For God's sake none of those boys have ever had a date & if & when they do, their father will make those decisions for them, just as he did for the girls.
It seems to me that Michelle was thrown to the wind by her parents. Oh here's somebody who wants to marry you, were are going to be moving soon & you are the youngest. We are tired of raising these 3 various groups of children, so goodbye & good luck.Oh,then Michelle's mom takes her aside & tells her,2 or 3 children are plenty. You've seen how hard your sisters need to work around here to help me out.

Auggie said...

Wow, TLC must really be trying to stretch out material for the series. This one didn't have anything with Jinger meeting Jeremy's family, at least not yet. I wonder if he has family members who didn't agree to be filmed leaving TLC with fewer options. The trip to New York could be a couple of stretched shows and ending the season with some wedding planning maybe?

Re the Duggars creating their own graduation certificates for the Duggar Academy. They don't have much else to do with their time and maybe this fulfills the 'arts & crafts' credit. It also speaks volumes that the 17 year olds are so relieved to be finished with school! At that age most teens are gearing up for the difficult years of education ahead. That's a tough job sitting around the Duggar table a few hours a day!

Hello said...

Ben is the last person to be giving advice on courting or marriage unless someone is marrying into a fundie family. When he got married, his only job was as Jboob's gopher. I don't beleive he grilled him about how he was going to support a family as he did to Derrick and Jeremy. It is really none of his business. He wouldn't take it very well if one of the sons was getting married and their future father in law grilled them the same way. None of the boys seem to have a job except for helping Jboob with cleaning out houses. They just seem to lay around the house while the girls do everything for them. The girls do everything around the house while they wait for daddy to find them another authority figure. Then they are to joyfully submit to their husbands and start popping out babies as soon and as often as possible.

Gen said...

I figured out what the purpose of this episode was. They should have called it How To Sell a Duggar Boy. This was nothing more than a vehicle for trying to drum up potential spouses for the Duggar boys. The whole thing with their brother has tainted their reputations, they have to do something. The whole no job, do nothing all day doesn't help either.

laura said...

They are proud of their diplomas. They say they graduated. They would never pass a regular high school exam of any kind, not even in the worst school in the worst state in the country. Very sad. Poor things, so mislead.

Eddy Jo Baines said...

Why is the fact that the Duggar boys do not have jobs ever brought up in the show? How ridiculous to be talking about their fantasy wife when they never had a date or even talked to a girl aside from a female family member. With their lack of education and the taboo subject of sex, do these young men even know how a baby gets into a girls "tummy" ? Will they have to wait until hours before their wedding when Jimbob gives them the details??
Anyway, this is all crazy because who in the world would want to marry an unemployed, balding, out of shape Duggar virgin boy anyway?

Worst Show said...

I never in my life heard of parents who homeschooled their children & I know many, who printed up a diploma on their computer, had a huge party with everyone clapping as they as handed out these home made "DIPLOMAS." Nobody even knows who did the schooling was it their mother or their older siblings?

Meme said...

Eddy Jo Baines, good question about whether the male Duggars know how babies get in a woman's tummy - and thanks for the quotation marks (stupid Michelle). Unless Anna has more sisters I can't imagine WHAT Jimbob's gonna do with these boys.

Ratings: 939K viewers and a .32 rating . . . And the ratings are holding steady - face plant. By all accounts the show is boring and a total rehash of old material, why are people still watching? I guess it didn't help that the VP debate didn't start until 9. No explanation as to the number of viewers. I predict a seriously dragged out courtship, engagement, wedding planning for Ginger. It's the only thing keeping the show going. I mean close to a million viewers for nothing, the wedding could bring in 2 million viewers easily. The only hope is perhaps the presidential election might bring viewership down as people are most interested in Clinton vs. Trump.

jennie said...

What are they supposed to do with the framed Duggar Diploma...hang it up over their bed in the dormitory bedroom? So there hangs a fake diploma and there they sit doing nothing without a plan or dream. Education over the kitchen table complete, (in Duggar terms) but venturing into the NIKE world too sinful so they stay in the house to save their pure selves.

Willow said...

The Bates family recently had a graduation party for two of their children and it seems like the Duggars just copied it pretty much to the T. One of the Bates daughters planned and put on their party and Jana Duggar did the same. Don't think the Bates printed out phony diplomas though, at least that we saw. LOL.

Bebe said...

This episode seems to be apart of a ploy but the Duggars to find people for the boys to date aka court. I don’t think anyone wants to send their daughter into the crazy backwards world of the Duggars, that’s why the boys haven’t been hitched yet.
Eddy Jo makes a good point about the boys not knowing how a baby gets into a girls ‘tummy’ I’m sure the girls didn’t know either and their wedding nights have had to have been a SHOCK to say the least.

I guy I worked with got married to a women nearly half his age after getting religious. He was 35 and she was just 18, they got together online and her parents sent her across the country to marry him. They have always reminded me of the Duggars situation. He works, she stays home alone all day without TV or internet, only the wifi on her phone.
Long story short, maybe these people are more common for men to get with looking for a virginal women to control and bend to their every whim.

Big kite said...

The phony diplomas just kill me. You just know that there is little testing to back.them up, pretty much they reach 17 and and they say, OK, you're done!

Kimberly said...

Willow, if I remember correctly, Kelly mentioned that the Bates kids were under an "umbrella school" and that thery had chosen not to attend that graduation. If she was talking about ABeka Academy ( she has definitely used some of their curriculum), then her kids would have gotten diplomas from the program. I've always wondered how TLC didn't run afoul of child labor laws with these kids. Child actors are generally required to have tutors.

Elspeth said...

The children are not child actors. They are reality personalities. Child actors fall under guild contracts that offer protections such as requiring set tutors. Also only a handful of states have decent laws regarding child performers.

I felt it was really strange that they never spoke about Josiah's failed courtship. I mean they announced the courtship, on TLC, and then never spoke of it again. This is one of my biggest problems with the Duggars. They hide the negative from the public. Why not talk about failed courtships, it makes you more human, than just ignoring it.

Isabelle said...

Hi everyone, I'm asking something here because my comment was not published/answered on the Duggar's blog so...(second time they don't publish after I ask something I noticed on the show and I'm not rude or mean in my comments!)
In the past episodes, we heard J&J say that they are courting for 2-3 weeks only. In this week's episode, I clearly heard Jeremy say ''we are a couple for 5 months...'' and minutes later in the show, Jinger says ''we are courting for 3-4 weeks''.
Am I the only one to have noticed that? I know they cut footage and assemble it for tv but come on, it makes no sense with their chronological events and not the first time I notice that kind of thing.

Elspeth said...

It's because the show recreates things that have already happened in their real lives plus they lie for various reasons so they can't keep it straight when they actually began courting vs when they filmed and aired beginning courting.

Free Jana said...

The children do voiceovers, commercials ("coming up next on. . ."), and planned activities for the show. They probably don't see themselves as actors, but there is a difference between being in a short term documentary and being in an ongoing "reality" show. It's too bad there aren't policies to address that gray area between documentaries and acting.

It does seem like the Duggars are looking for future wives for the young men. I'm glad other ATI families aren't throwing their daughters at them, though the other boys don't seem anywhere near as smug or awful as Josh. Just incredibly sheltered, ignorant, and awkward.

Isabelle said...

First time I asked something on the Duggar's blog was because on Christmas time last year we saw the Duggars packing for a mission trip where they were supposed to bring backpacks as Christmas gifts for children on the field; at a moment, a Duggar is talking to the camera and a backpack was thrown over him, then we can hear in the background 'Sorry, that was Josh!'.
I asked if he was out for Christmas but still waiting for my comment to be published and answered...

Josie said...

Isabelle......like Elspeth said, they lie. That's the long and short of it. They lie. They lie through omission, they lie by manipulating half truths to suit them and they flat out just don't tell the truth about many things. They aren't wholesome people, they just play them on TV.

Dawn Whipple said...

What is up with the Counting On commercial? Ben says I am not a chocolate connoisseur. Jessa says I am not a chef. Then John says I am having the time of my life, and the kidadults start laughing at John, not with him. It's weird, like they are making fun of him, or know he's not having the time of his life. I do not know what to make of this commercial. Anyone else?

Aunt Bea said...

I agree with "Josie"...the Duggars have lied through omission repeatedly throughout the years... Shame on them. Why aren't they called on it? I'll never know that either.

I refuse to even watch TLC so I don't see the advertising. I think instead of Counting On it should be Lying On.

Jeanette said...

As a mom, I can see why they didn't speak openly about Josiah's broken courtship. That's painful and private. I do wonder, though, with so few events advertised on IBLP, how will they meet other families like theirs? IBLP appears to be in a death spiral with no Basic or Advanced seminars planned. Apparently you buy DVDs or something to watch at home. This will isolate the devotees trapped in that legalistic system.Annual IBLP events are what brought Josh and Anna together. The girls all seemed to mate with non-Gothard men. Am I right?

Karen J. said...

I think it would have been good if Josiah had spoken about his failed courtship. They always say courtship is the time to connect and be sure that this is the right person for you in marraige so whats wrong with him saying that he and Marjorie found that they had different paths in life and decided to stop the courtship? Even if it was painful for him it could have shown the real side of things without him saying she dumped me. It is just another example of them brushing things under the rug instead of facing reality

Whatever said...

So I guess a woman can't ask a guy to court? Everything is in the men's hands. But I guess that is for the best, since we women, get flighty and lovesick, that we can't do simple chores around the house, or heaven forbids, actually work and make our own money. Thank heavens TLC GAVE us this guy's guide to courting so we girls know exactly what is expected of us.

Marla Ann said...

I have a feeling Jimbob is already scouting around for a match for young Joy to keep the Duggar show rolling along. I think it would be sad & disgusting to do an arranged marriage using Joy as the wonderful gift to some Fundie man just to keep interest in the show, like I fear he's doing with Jinger. The silly boys are not marriageable with no job, money or education. What's going to happen with them in the near future? Aren't they supposed to be going forth and multiplying??

Aunt Bea said...

Those inane courtship rules don't protect anyone from a broken heart at all. The only thing those people are concerned about is protecting their daughters' hymens...plain and simple. It's obvious from the "IN LOVE" immediate hormonal reactions from these girls that they have lost not only their heads, but their hearts already to guys they don't really know...I also suspect that Josiah had a broken heart also when he and Marjorie parted...Marjorie, not so much as Josiah. Perhaps that's why he didn't speak of it. Protect their hearts????? Baloney.

Just Unbelievable said...

Re: Marla Ann's comments about Jim Bob scouting around for a mate for Joy. I absolutely agree with you. That's the first thing I thought of when they put Jinger on the auction block. I think it's criminal. Anyone who has watched the show since Josh & Anna's courtship & engagement, will remember Anna alluding to the fact that 17 is about the right age to start a courtship. We know the engagement & weddings follow quickly. This is nothing but a sinful way to bring in the dollars. I hate hearing how godly & wonderful this family is when they are willing to do anything for those dollars to keep rolling in. God forgive Michelle & Jim Bob for what they have done to those children especially the girls. I happily live a middle class life. We have no air plane, no yard full of cars & all the other luxuries the Duggars have. My children are not "cookie cutter children" who have never given us any problems. But we are a happy loving family where our children have had the freedom to live the life they want. Daddy didn't need to pick out sons-in-law. They had the freedom to go to college & have many friends that came from different backgrounds. There's really nothing more that can be said about the Duggars except the almighty dollar is much more important to them than the Almighty, they claim to worship & follow.

Andrea said...

"Annual IBLP events are what brought Josh and Anna together. The girls all seemed to mate with non-Gothard men. Am I right?" Really wondering the same thing. But it appears the home school conferences continue as the dates for 2017 were recently announced and the organization has a pretty swank video currently online promotion what they now call Family Conferences. ATI has given it up and no longer calls it a home school conference I guess!

Joy needs to learn how to speak English before she gets married.
They need to marry off Jana, John-David, Joe and Josiah before they stick Joy with a husband. She IS too young to marry anyone at this time.

All Done said...

I believe that there has been nothing said about Josiah's broken courtship because it definitely is related to Josh's scandal's & that's one thing the Duggars aren't talking about. Nobody even knows where they live & where he works, although it must be close to Duggarville, as Anna is always showing up in each episode, for absolutely no reason at all.

maybe said...

All Done.......who says Josh is working? He's probably living right on the Duggar property in that room where they put Ben. They have to keep an eye on him 24/7. It's convenient for Anna & kids to show up for dinners and & TLC episodes and it wouldn't cost Jimbob any money to house them there.

Heart in Florida said...

Why would Anna say that she had to get herself some of those thrift store couches? What home does she live in? She most likely lives in a Jim Bob provided for, fully furnished place, or in her in-laws "big house" delegated to Grandma Duggar's bedroom off the kitchen...and her children intertwined with their aunts and uncles in those dorm rooms..and for that matter, what money does she have to buy couches in the first place, when no one in her "family unit" works at this time? I feel a bit sorry for Smuggar, because he is the most miserable member of that family and has been for a long time now. He was never able to choose HIS OWN standards for his own life, even if that meant a more moderate Christian life. His parents DO NOT give their children unconditional love like those leg humpers believe...as long as they tow the party line, they're "ok", if not, they're O.U.T. Smuggar has been living a lie since he was 12 years old, if you ask me and look what happened to him having to pretend all these years...he has made some terrible decisions and has done some pretty awful things as a result. His parents need to own up to their part in this mess. How could they show their faces on TV and pretend they're innocent in all of this? Makes me sick to see them.
No daughter of their has any choice at all to "start a business" of any kind. They aren't allowed to do so and this TV show pretends that they do. That stupid statement from Joy about Jana's interior design business???? Another STUPID statement from Joy now that Jinger will leave the nest was "what am I going to do with myself with Jinger leaving"??? I'll tell you what she can do...GO TO COLLEGE, take a CLASS in SOMETHING, get a J.O.B....anything but babysit your mother's children who really don't need YOU to babysit them anymore 24/7. Michelle is really a piece of work.

It would be SO cool if Jeremy enrolled Jinger in photography classes after they move. Re:Heart in Florida's comment about Joy saying, "what am I going to do with my self with Jinger leaving?" You suggested that she go to college, or take a class, or get a job. Guess she's heeding your suggestion. She said she is taking a couple of online "Bible Classes." As well as helping out with the little kids, of course that would be her mother's little kids. So that's apparently her life's ambition until Jim Bob picks another son-in-law.
Why doesn't Jim Bob give his daughters' a questioner, so they can give him an outline of what type of man they want for a husband? I find it unbelievable that Jim Bob & Michele married at such a young age & yet, their daughter's are prisoners in that house & don't even realize it. If Michelle could work in Grandma's yogurt shop, why can't Joy work in that coffee shop they showed a couple of yrs. ago as some fund raising episode? She could work at McDonalds or any supermarket. For a young girl who has allegedly finished high school, there's no way she should just be studying a couple of Bible courses online, & helping with her mothers' children.
Of course, the blame for the way these young people's lives are turning out goes right to heart of the family, Jim Bob & Michelle, and they must have pretty cold hearts. They even taunt those kids i.e. you can't do this until you're married, we'll do the kissing for you. However, I personally believe that TLC & all the members of the crew that films the Duggar children are just as compliant in the dreary lives of the Duggar children & young adults. If my husband had a job where he filmed young people who have no idea of the freedom they are entitled to I would be constantly after him to find out where he could report what is really abuse of those kids. We all know there are various types of abuse & for some unknown reason nobody thinks they are being abused by the total lack of attention & education for the little ones & the total lack of freedom for the one's that are age 17 up to the age of 27. If my husband told me about these situations & he didn't do anything about it, I know it probably would cost him a good job, but believe me I would sure as hell try to find what authorities I could go to for help for the young people. They are enslaved in their own home, a place that should be a place of love, safety, fun. It should always be a place you want to come home to see everyone & visit but not be held captive.

Carolina - I probably didn't word it perfectly, but I really in my mind meant that he should "encourage" her. I certainly did not mean literally to enroll her. I can't imagine that you took it that way. Guess that is my bad. I just thought that coming from her upbringing, she might need a little encouragement to kind of un-learn the no-education thing.

Yes, Willow, the kids need encouragement but I'm thinking Jeremy is excited about innocent Jinger, a wife raised to be subservient to men. If he wanted a normal woman, he probably could have found one but obviously Jinger fits into his plans for a lucrative future. He has had a tough few years, no job equals no money but the Duggar door of opportunity opened for him, he's already a tv personality and I bet he has a tv evangelical show in the works with TLC. This could be a way back to tv for Josh as a guest on the show telling how he beat the nasty devil.

I fear you are probably right Lisa. It would not surprise me if they went the TV pastor route. A place for Ben to be assistant pastor of music and Josh to lead the
repenting sinners in rehab. Derick and Jill can be in charge of the missionary program. Jana can play the harp, Joy can be in charge of the Sunday School children. Sierra could do the decorating of the sanctuary and be in charge of fundraisers, weddings and showers. See, they have everything they need for a new TV show. Jim Bob will still be the boss however. I'm joking but I'm not really laughing.

You could be so right Willow. The show is probably in the making right now with all the kids in their places!! But I don't see why Ben would be assistant pastor of music since all I've seen him do is silly rap.

to Willow....
Don't forget that JB and Michelle will be in charge of all the pre-marital counselling for any couples wishing to marry.

Dinda - There is Christian rap (i.e., his friend Flame)although I'm not sure how large of an audience there is for it. :) JennieBean: Good one. I forgot JB and Michelle's favorite thing!!
