Not much more to say about these whack jobs. Judging from no posting everyone must feel the same as I feel! Get jobs, go to a real church, give the uterus especially a break, and go to the US of Arkansas after going to a public high school. Then I will watch!!

I quit watching some time ago, but I still come here for the comments. I can't believe how little things have changed. That says a lot.

Sharla, I read that Cousin Amy is getting a few of her own episodes on TLC. Is this true. I think it has to do with her 30th b-day.

lisa magines said...

heard they want to bring back michelle and Jim bod? this show is a waste of time. TLC you need way better pogroming on your station. bring back the little couple I really like them a lot.

Meme said...

Agree. The show was about an old-fashioned family with old school values, or so it seemed. You had two unsophisticated parents trying to be protective of their offspring. Charming.

Turns out that the old-fashioned clothing, etc. was just their schtick. And I mistook "unsophisticated" for "low i.q." Jimbob in particular believes that he is an intellectual, though he can barely read. But he prides himself on his ability to wheel and deal. Remember the Megyn Kelley interview? That grown man (cough) came across as a young boy. He gave his well-rehearsed little speech, constantly looking to Michelle for approval and support.

If you look beyond their WORDS and look to their ACTIONS it all makes sense. They are fake, vain, and money hungry - and not in that order. This why they're always giving speeches and advice. This is why Josh & Anna were giving "marital advice" before they were married a month! Anything to keep the millions rolling in and the lazy bu++s on the couch.

if tic would like to have a high rating for this show please let me in front of this family asking the question? and no they cannot have them before the show is taped? I have a ton of questions I want to ask them.

Aunt Bea said...

The more TLC shows those vile parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, the less I'll watch this already dying program....I also DO NOT wish to see Anna, who is a poor example to young women already. Josh, who sees himself clearly, as the "ultimate hypocrite" is also on this "no see" list. The outright lies this family has implied about themselves should be enough to knock them off the screen...they implied that they had 19 "cookie cutter" children, all of whom have NOT GIVEN THEM A BIT OF TROUBLE, no rebellion, all want exactly the same lives as their parents, etc. Those early courting Anna scenes, pre-wedding talks with JB, were a farce. How could their loyal fans, not connect the dots and realize they are in this for the $$$. Being on TV, when they openly are against watching TV is enough of a contradiction of values is you ask me to call them on it and they had not better use the word "ministry" to me to explain their way out on this one. This is their JOB, not spiritual calling.

Just Unbelievable said...

Re: Aunt Bea's comments. You hit the nail on the head about how the Duggars wanted everyone to think the kids were cookie cutter kids who never gave them an ounce of trouble. I'd like to find a family in anywhere in my area with even 6 or 7 kids that said not one of them gave them a bit of trouble. They are uneducated & living off TLC & their fans generosity. This business of living on "Duggartime" is really a pet peeve of mine. When I was young we didn't own a car. I know, these days young people cant even think of living without at least 2 cars in the garage. However, my mother taught us that if someone offered us a ride to school, church, anywhere else. As a courtesy to those that offered the ride, we must be ready & waiting, not a minute late. We were taught not to be inconsiderate of the person who was doing us a favor. The Duggars & this "Duggartime" drives me crazy. When my children were young, we had a clock that I used to teach my children about time. They were fairly young when they knew what time it was to leave for kindergarten, what time I said they could have an ice cream or some other treat, what time it was to go to bed. The younger one also learned that his older sister was allowed to stay up 15 min later than him. It never caused a problem because that's the way it had always been. Children live what they learn from parents, teachers, extended family & friends. Unfortunately, the Duggar kids have only had their siblings to look to for what to do. Did any Duggar child need to be up, dressed, have breakfast & be standing outside waiting for the school bus..of course not. They have lived alife of entitlement for doing nothing. Now a new Duggar generation is going to be brought up to think that they are entitled to do whatever they want to do if & when they feel like doing it.

Heart in Florida said...

Wendy Heusel: I'd watch that show with YOU asking the "meat and potatoes" questions in a heartbeat. I also think that TLC's rating would go through the roof with that episode..and YES, no pre-screening of questions. If they are going to be honest, like they insist they are and have nothing to hide, no need to pre screen questions from viewers, is there?

Meme said...

Wendy Heusel and Heart in Florida: I have always believed that the Duggars would sell each other down the river if their show was ever cancelled due to lack of interest. Anything to keep it going and the money rolling in. I remember how the siblings did as much to Josh when everyone was so disgusted with him and threatening to boycott the show. TLC is really slipping.

I promise this to be my last post for awhile, but is anyone else enjoying Ben as much as I am? He sounds so liberal lately. I just love this boy's "awakening". Look out, Pops! Trouble's a-brewin'!!!!!

Willow said...

I personally kind of liked the episodes with Flame and football etc. Ben is boring, but the different story lines were a little refreshing and more "normal". I was hoping that Ben and Jessa would actually move to St. Louis and join up with Flame in serving in some neighborhood youth centers or churches or something. That would be interesting to see them get their own identities outside of JB. TLC could film in Central America, St. Louis and Laredo. Boom, something different and NO JB and Michelle. Don't even let them visit, do you hear me? Ha. :) I mean, really, why not?
Flame is more interesting, IMO, than all the Duggars put together. TLC needs to make the decisions, NOT Jim Bob.

Big kite said...

I wonder if Jim Bob talks like Trump in private?

Just Me said...

Re: lisa magines' comment that they might be bringing back Michelle & Jim Bob. They already have!

smee said...

Meme, I am not enjoying Ben. He is awkward and dorkie. He needs to stop trying to be the renaissance man, find a shirt that fits and get a real job.

Heart in Florida said...

I think the reason TLC is sneaking Jim Bob and Michelle back in the show is because without the parents, these kids really have nothing of their own lives, even after marriage. Derick has relocated Jill geographically, but it seems she can't be away from some family member for more than 3 weeks at a time and is still connected by umbilical cord to them. None of them have ANY ideas or style of their own either. So sad for these adults in their twenties.

Meme said...

Hi Smee: This is actually a reply but my phone is giving me fits today & "I couldn't get me reply on". LOL. (Button not working.)

I agree 100% that ol' Ben needs to get over himself and go to work at a real job. I am no Ben fan, just a fan of anyone who makes Jimbob's pupils constrict. That is not a nice thing for me to admit, I guess, but that man's ego knows no bounds! It's not enough for him to control everyone, he also intends to control all the adult children now - even where they choose to live.

I don't think Ben knows what he's doing or why he's doing it, or even what he thinks. He's just spouting off whatever feels right, which seems to be contradictory to Jimbob Duggar's viewpoints in some cases. These young adult Duggars sure need someone to show them that disagreeing with "Pops" is not an unpardonable sin. But I have to say.....I never would have thought that BEN (of all people) would be the one to lead the masses out of Egypt!

too bad,so sad said...

Meme- I agree but what the kid/adults need to learn instead of just doing the opposite of JimBob's opinion is how to honestly question things and to think logically and make rational decisions on their own. So far what I see all of them do, including the soon to be member Jeremy, is to depend on authority. JimBob says it so we must agree, I found a scripture in the Bible it must be true, I heard a popular pastor say it must be true, I heard a heathen say something it has to be a lie. They stick to this pattern of thinking instead of questioning everything and honestly looking at the outcomes.
However, I do not think this will happen. I might be wrong, the grandson of the leader of Westboro Baptist Church is very openly against everything that "church" says and does. Hope springs eternal.

When Pig's Fly said...

I have been watching the Duggars for years-it is kind of like a train wreck-sad, scary and hard to look away. I have concluded the following and would also like to see a few topics addressed:
-Jim Bob was awkward in high school and got little to no attention from girls therefore he developed a disdain for women in general. Michelle's family was too big and she fell through the cracks and Jim Bob swooped her up and she latched on to his attention and then the attention from 19 pregnancies (I am convinced she carries her phone constantly just in case he calls-not for the kids to contact her).
-I would tolerate seeing them on camera if Jim Bob had to do "girl's" work for 2 solid weeks.
Michelle would have to be shown for 2 solid weeks doing the cooking, laundry, homeschooling, cleaning etc. by herself (no help from the older girls or anyone else) without her phone in sight.
-Finally, I would like to see them address the learning and developmental delays some of the children have (this is not an attack, but it is obvious). If they truly believe the show is a ministry, by showing the issues their children have may help others not feel they are alone in their struggles.
With all these wishes of what I would like to see-I can say it is as likely as Michelle putting her phone down and Jim Bob not treating women as his property.

Andrea said...

Happy Birthday Johannah! Yet another photo collage published without a single photo of this poor girl and her mother or father. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar should be deeply ashamed. I think we know now that no such photos exist. Great work - mother of the year!

Andrea said...

When Pig's Fly: "(B)y showing the issues their children have may help others not feel they are alone in their struggles." The Duggar's are completely and totally clueless to the educational needs of their children. It won't surprise me in the slightest to learn many of them are completely illiterate. The Duggar's having children who can neither read, write or do math secures the children's ongoing dependency on their parents. It's a complete travesty.

too bad,so sad said...

Andrea I think you have a point about the Duggars and the children's learning. The problem I see is that they do not know the difference between schooling and education. One is teaching children information based on their favorite authority, the other is teaching children how to learn and how to think rationally, how to find information and how to judge whether or not the information is correct.
As far as I know the Duggars have no education at all, they have only memorized information presented to them without question. Our public schools actually spend time in the lower grades teaching students how to formulate and develop questions on topics being presented.
My personal belief is that if someone inhibits children from holding onto their natural curiosity and questioning, it is a form of child neglect. But, that is only an opinion. There is nothing more joyful than taking young children to museums or out in nature, school assemblies, meet authors etc. and have their eyes open wide and ask "how" and "why."
Duggar children and young adults seem like little birds in a gilded cage. I read posters on other sites wanting the young adults to move away geographically, I would rather see them move away from letting others think for them and relying on authority. I mean that to include the spouses.

Johanna already looks like she had the life squashed out of her. Poor thing. She used to be so spunky. Happy birthday Johanna

Heart in Florida said...

"Smokey"..I'm sure that pool Johanna HAS had the life squashed out of her already and that before her birthday celebration, she was reminded of what a sinner she is and that she will go to hell if she didn't repent...again...right then and there. So, now
on to your birthday celebration, dear! Those people are nuts. I have wondered if Izzy and Spurge have been told what sinners they are and that they will not go to heaven either without a conversion RIGHT AWAY.

Afteie said...

It is very abusive to put into little children's minds that they are hell bound sinners and they must repent. What are their sins?

fungirl said...

Why is Jessa not showing daily selfies of herself full of makeup flaunting hergrowing tummy like she did with the Spurge?

Misty said...

"Life squashed out".....Heart in Florida....what a true description of the Duggar treatment of their children. It happened to Joy & Janna. They kill any dream, hope or individuality until each child is dumbed down and afraid to even ask a question. Now the situation is getting frightening as the boys grow older and become kidults but still hang around acting silly while their daddy supporting them. Ben is included.....what does this boy ever do except occasionally put down other religions?

Arelene said...

Those little children should be going to school to learn proper English, math, REAL history,
play sports, join scouting programs, dance lessons and have friends to play with after school and on Sunday school on Sunday morning. This cult of Duggarism is destroying the lives of children and their futures as adult. Look what this childhood leads to with the older children. Results are unmarried boymen without ambition or jobs, girlwomen being sent off with a man chosen by their father to be controlled by their husband and give birth to many babies without medical help. It's sick and sad.

Aunt Bea said...

David Wall, I believe, said that he was "saved" at 3 years old and told that he was a bad sinner, etc. I agree that's a terrible thing to do to a little kid.

If the goal of courtship is marriage, I don't understand how the Duggar women are surprised when their courter asks them to marry?

I watch the last few minutes of the show instead of the whole episode, and I've noticed that it isn't as natural as the episodes from years ago. Everyone seems nervous and trying to hard for the camera.

Wendy Heusel said...

just saw this picture of spuegron in front of the duggars basketball court showing a big picture of a college of their home state? ok I am fine with that. but why do they support the sports teams if they are agsaint the education they give children? that is so wrong. wear the clothes of the school talk about it but do not support the education system they give? can anyone answer that one for me.

Aunt Bea said...

Wendy Heusel: That's because the Duggars are really hypocrites.

roddma said...

I've said many times there are numerous reasons I don't think the Bateses are be
tter than the DUggars. IMO it isn't who allows more. Fundamentalists come in many flavors. It isn't unusual for some women to wear pants or shorter hair or work 'approved' jobs.
Well anyway I can agree with posters elsewhere while some have taken baby steps, there won't be any Breaking DUggar/Bates supporting more secular candidates, be a full-fledged doctor ala 'wordly' college, teacher at a public school, watching/participating on "Dancing with the Stars" , and supporting Planned Parenthood anytime soon. I guess we can dream. If any Bates/Duggar breaks or gets more daring, it will be some of the younger ones.

Wendy Heusel said...

i realize they are I am hoping others will see it also. why support a school you will never let any of your children attend because you do not like the education they will receive there. i also wonder who is teaching Anna children. and how will Isreal dillard be taught?

It's a sad state of affairs here when the winner of the "Duggar children wedding reception with any amount of class" still goes to the Keller parents with Josh and Anna's wedding...at least they served chicken salad to their guests INDOORS. Let's see what Jing comes up with.

Meme said...

On the "Jessa's Announcement" thread, someone was discussing the Duggars' childish behavior/activities. I believe that Michelle is the biggest child in the bunch.

Michelle has kept herself a child by surrounding herself with children. She sometimes avoids speaking directly to adults who intimidate her. Remember the attractive, independent, jeans-wearing, man-bossing decorator? She attempted to involve Michelle in the decorating process by expressing ideas for the bedrooms. In response, Michelle would go big-eyed and direct her delight to the nearest little daughter, NOT the decorator. "Oooh, Johanna, doesn't that sound great?!" The differences in the two women were glaring. One was behaving like an adult woman doing a job. The other was wearing a bib dress, talking like an excited little girl. And consider her words. Like referring to her stomach as her "tummy". Or calling her husband "Dad" even when she is referring to him as she is speaking with other ADULTS. Watch her as she sings with her children and see if you can pick out the adult. She stands there in her jumper, performing like a first-grader onstage in front of her parents for the first time. (It was astonishing the first time I saw it). This cult demands that women submit completely to their wise (cough, hack, strangle) husbands. Suits Jimbob just fine, control freak that he is. And it also suits "Mama" who doesn't want any part of being a responsible grown-up.

Lisa Mcginnis said...

i was watching old duggar shows. and these kids just run around the house all day. they have no set time to do school work or get up in the morning? no wonder these kids are so wild when they are little no one is watching over them and they are bored out of their mind.

Mindi said...

Re: Aunt Bea's comment about Josh & Anna's wedding the "class" going to the Kellers. Sorry to disagree but I believe the class went to the women of the church where they were married. It certainly appeared that they did all the work & had all the ideas abut what a wedding should entail. They walked Josh & Anna through the church asking what type of decorations they wanted, i.e. did they want bows on the pews or did they want flowers, should they decorate every pew or every other one? They brought out a beautiful book of wedding cakes & Anna was just about tongue tied when she saw the cake they were willing to make & she picked out the biggest one in the book. Also all the food was made & donated by the women of the church. I don't know if the church reimbursed any of the women, or if they just have a group that donates their time & talent to help young couples. Sometimes it's. considered their contribution to the church. Josh kept saying "boy this would really be expensive if we had to buy all this food." So I don't think the Keller's paid for anything & the "rehearsal dinner" if you could call it that, was just chips, pizza etc. Of course, that was the Duggars contribution. So I don't give the Kellers any credit.

Re:Comment by When Pigs Fly, about Jim Bob doing "girl's work" for 2 weeks & Michele doing every bit of the housework for 2 weeks. Why limit it to just 2 weeks? I don't know about others but I'd be thrilled if I only needed to do my housework 2 weeks out of 52.

sandi said...

Meme,Michelle calls Jim Bob "Daddy",which is even weirder,IMO

Aunt Bea said...

Mindi: I stand corrected on the award for a "classy reception". Yes, I was aware that the women of the church did all the work and credited with it, they should be. I'm glad the Kellers agreed to it and didn't insist on their ideas, which could have been pretzels and Fritos corn chips. One question: Is this customary for any bride in their chuch...that the ladies of the church do all the work, bring all the ideas and not get reimbursed for the costs or was it just done for Anna, since she was marrying a Duggar and it would be on TV? Thanks.

Aunt Bea said...

Meme: I also agree that Michelle "quit growing up" at 17. She also never bothered to learn how to properly cook, take care of a house or shop. I bet the good meal she had in Mrs. Vuolo Sr's, house was the first good home cooked meal she had since her mother cooked for her all those years ago.

If a restaurant can feed hundreds of people every day and cook from scratch, MANY DIFFERENT things on a menu, why can't the Duggar family cook ONE dinner each night for 25 from scratch? Simply use larger pots..they already have an industrial kitchen and TWO industrial dish washers. They accepted all these gifts when that monstrosity of a house was finished for them and haven't utilized the conveniences in it. They live a poor life style and don't take good care of themelves. (Except for Michelle)

Sharon said...

I think the ladies of the church did the wedding reception both for filming and because that church supports Mr. Keller's prison ministry. They knew her family couldn't afford a reception.

Elspeth said...

I've only seen one industrial dishwasher. Jim Bob bought the industrial appliances at an auction. They weren't gifts.

when pigs fly (oh wait, Josh does fly) said...

Lucky you are right-I would also love to only do that 2 weeks out of the year but we know that is not reality. I thought 2 weeks would be pure torture for both and fun to watch but I know it will never ever happen. My biggest wish is some how they or someone they listen to reads these blogs but I know I have a better chance of seeing the pig flapping his or her wings out my window.

Aunt Bea said...

It's been said that they have two dishwashers...Jim Bob might have picked up those appliances at an auction, but TLC took over the project of building that house for them, installed everything and comped them what they were missing...furniture, decorations, etc. included. If it weren't for TLC, they'd still be building that house today.

Elspeth said...

They for sure have two dishwashers maybe even two normal residential dishwashers. What they don't have is two industrial dishwashers.

Aunt Bea said...

Does anyone know if the Kellers church also put Priscilla's wedding reception on for her too? If so, that would be very generous of those church members.

Aunt Bea said...

I remember one of the boys putting his camera/cell phone in the industrial dishwasher to "take pictures of it washing" while the door was closed. I know they have at least one industrial dishwasher which washes and sterilized it's contents in 90 seconds..like restaurants have. So, no need to use those awful paper plates and plastic utensils like they do. what's they excuse for not using this dishwasher for real dishes and glasses? I think they just don't have the class or sense to live like decent people with decent standards..heck they don't have proper bed linens for their children, (but they have them for Mama and Daddy's bed). Heck they don't eve have enough BEDS for their kids as it it, if I remember correctly.

Mindi said...

Re:Aunt Bea's comments about whether the ladies in the Keller's church do all the work they did for Anna's wedding for other brides. In the case of Anna's wedding, I think it was a combination of it being the Keller's church & it was going to be a televised Duggar wedding. Although in my area a number of churches have women's groups that will put on a small collation for a wedding reception or after a church members funeral. It's voluntary to do this & I'm sure most families pay for the food used. The time the women put into these receptions is usually considered their donation to the church. Also it's often done on a revolving basis. There are 2 or 3 groups in the church & one group might do it for a given length of time then another group will take over. Still most families pay for everything except the ladies time. When writing about the ladies doing all the work, it brings to mind that I have never seen a more relaxed woman on her son or daughters wedding day, than Michelle. She does nothing but show up as if she is an invited guest. I'm sure bloggers that have had weddings in their families, either son or daughter found themselves running around with many, many last minute things that needed to be done. Strange that this doesn't happen in the Duggar family. If it did it would be filmed for an episode on TLC

Wendy Heusel said...

heard jinger and jermery will not be telling the public when their wedding date is? guess they will not be sharing gift registry either. wonder if the bates will be there?

Aunt Bea said...

I think they are marrying in San Antonio at the home church either this weekend or next weekend. They're been spending too much time there to not be "preparing" for the wedding. Sorry for the Vuolos who have to travel down there and for most of Jeremy's relatives, who most likely have real jobs to report to Monday-Friday and don't need the added expense of airline tickets and hotels for their families. The Duggars don't care about those things because they seem to move about at will with little or no regard as to the cost of these trips.

Scout said...

So maybe watching the marriage licenses in the newspapers in any area where they might possibly get married would be a way to find out.

Scout said...

Is Jeremy's dad licensed to perform a ceremony in another state? Do they say something like "by the power vested in me by the state of ... And Almighty God".

roddma said...

Comments elsewhere prompted me to look at the post Anna's BIL wrote back in 2009 about the wedding. I wonder how much control they actually have. He almost didn't get to be in the wedding because he didn't want to sign the waiver. He said the book and talk Jim Bob gave Josh on the wedding night was staged. He claims the did a poor job on portraying the Kellers. He said they were nice. I also wonder the differences between UP TV the Bateses are on and TLC.I'm sure things are staged on "Bringing up Bates", but to what degree.
Speaking of the Keller's no being able to afford a reception, he says they have tennis courts and a pool behind the trailer.
In the comments, it mentioned how nice the Duggar kids were in comparison to those on other shows with tempers and meltdowns. Well excuse me isn't that how kids are supposed ot be? The positive comments are sure not many now.

Willow said...

I understand they are dragging Jinger's wedding news out for suspense, but I think they may lose more fans by stringing them along that way. At some point, you have to show that you care about your fans, at least a little bit.

Heart in Florida said...

I agree that dragging out the Jinger relationship is not a good idea. Except for the most recent two episodes, this show has been dull and had no real content. They need to step it up and get closer to real time, quit those "TH recaps" of what we just saw...and we ALL KNOW that Jill and Derick are in CA and that Jinger is in a courtship with Jeremy Vuolo...etc. When the show returns from a "commercial break", they need to just get on with the footage, no explanation of what we just saw 3 minutes earlier. TLC seems to do that with a lot of their shows, SYTTD included.
The side-hug matter with Jeremy and Jinger is a bad joke and so old, already done from Joshua and Anna's courting and "hand sex" engagement. I noticed in the Korean BBQ restaurant, Jeremy took and kissed Jinger's hand...!!! Why didn't any of the 6 chaperones notice? Jinger's BP must have hit the roof with her first "kiss" on the hand.

Over on their family blog page the Seewalds have posted a pic of Spurg in the stroller. Ben proceeds to tell everyone that they should get outside and walk.. He writes in the most basic, boring way possible. Advice on how to take a walk? Does anyone have time for his drivel? He writes as a child and looks like a gangsta with his doofus white flat brimmed hat. He still hasn't figured out who he is. Get a job, Bin, and shave that awful fuzz off your face.

Aunt Bea said...

Of course this show is scripted and staged. Does anyone really believe that the Duggar family would have decided to take a trip to Europe, ( you know with all those 'lands')and China and Japan? Never in a million years. That was totally scripted as something for this family "to do" and paid for completely by TLC. Such a waste of funds from this TV network on those hick people who disapprove of 90% of what they saw and experienced in the first place.

Heart in Florida said...

How does Ben have all this time to take walks with his family? I'd like to know just exactly what are his duties during a typical week and how many hours does he work for Jim Bob? How can Jessa fool herself in to believing that she is living a real grown up married life when she is living in a house provided for by her Grandmother and father, her husband loosely "employed" by her father with no real education or training to opt to do any kind of work independently of HER family? What would they do financially at this time without the TLC paycheck? This would be a good direct question for the two Seewald" make believe adults."

smee- Ben looks like a gangsta??? I have seen pictures of him with a gangsta hat and...wait for it.... an argyle sweater vest!!! LOL reminds me of the little preschool kids putting little blankets and/or towels over their shoulders and thinking they look like superheros.
Aunt Bea- the scripted visits to Asia were NOT scripted enough. They, by Asian standards, were incredibly rude and ignorant. They should have been better educated on Asian culture, manners and should have been given a script as to what to say. They seemed to get absolutely nothing from that wonderful experience, except footage for their fans.

No sheets on their beds, half the kids don't seem to know which bed is theirs, they sleep where they fall.....if they had been taught a proper bedtime routine, had a soft and comfy bed with sheets and comforters to sleep on and had someone tuck them in at a reasonable hour and perhaps a bedtime story and the lights turned out, they might not have created a perfect environment for a child molester to thrive and strike his victims. Most were victimized sleeping in "common areas" of the house. The floor, sofa, chairs...... Stupid parents.

Aunt Bea said...

too bad, so sad: I stand corrected. Yes, I agree with you that this family made fools of themselves and WERE in fact rude in their host countries. I guess you can't take them anywhere. I'd love to see how Jim Bob and Michelle will "mingle" with the Vuolo relatives at this wedding. I'm sure many of Jeremy's relatives will be shaking their heads and hoping for the best for Jer with Jinger.

Re: the Asia trip, I think it was very telling that the little girls didn't recognize Michelle when she, Grandma & the sister-moms went to get their makeup done Asian style. They probably assume that the sisters are their moms and Michelle is just some strange lady with bad 80s hair who sleeps with Daddy. And also, about only the boys going to check out the samurais & swords, like none of the girls could possibly be interested in a sword fight. These people have proven time and time again that they should not be let out in public. They have no clue how to act -- especially around people in different cultures.

too bad,so sad said...

Aunt Bea-not picking on you. Love your comments, but if Jeremy's wedding is anything like the Italian weddings I have been to the relatives will be shaking more than their heads. LOL- all the Italians that I know LOVE to dance and are fond of pulling others onto the dance floor to celebrate. Good times!

Also Japan has a wonderful history of women warriors. When the samurais went off to battle it was their well trained women who protected the home and village. A great history lesson for the Duggars that they missed.

Maybe they should change the name of the show to "Counting On missing more opportunities" LOL

Hooking up with Flame & maybe setting up some kind of music ministry with disadvantaged kids in the inner city, like the area Flame showed Ben. Jill & DerickDillard - Imagine what these two could really do! Jill could go to nursing school, become a real nurse midwife, go out & do legitimate mission work! Jana - poor Jana. Where in the world to begin with her! Such a beautiful young woman with SO many talents! She could study music & become a music teacher, maybe in a Christian school? She seems to enjoy all of this redecorating & renovation work - go to school, study interior decorating or architecture!

Yes, I realize none of that will EVER EVER happen under Jim Bob's rule. It just really saddens me to watch these kids cluelessly wander through their lives, passing up one wonderful opportunity after another. Right now it seems like the only one there's a small bit of hope for is Jinger. Marry Jeremy, move to south Texas & help him with his ministry.

I could go on & on, but I think y'all see where I'm going with this. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when Jim Bob & Michelle are standing before God & have to explain this mess/sideshow/circus that is their family. I truly feel that when God blesses us with a special gift or talent, it is really, really wrong to not nurture those gifts & talents to the very best of our abilities! And if you are a religious person, use those talents to help others & serve God. If that's what you believe, of course. I do my very best to not judge others, but the Duggars make it really difficult to do that. I believe that Being judgemental, hypocritical, self righteous, racist, homophobic bigots really is not what God had in mind for us. But, then, I'm one of those evil Catholics, so what would I know...

Too bad so sad--Gangsta Bin is like a giant 3rd grader. Why can't he just get a job and fade into the background? Just when I have forgotten about him he pops up again in all his awkwardness, torturing us with his words of wisdom and sanctimonious half thoughts.

Ben is so lame poor guy
Aunt Bea I work for traditional Japanese. They have very rigid practices and rituals of respect. It was very embarrassing to observe the duggars behavior which I knew was atrocious even before I worked for Japanese.
Someone needs to sit these people down and give them a dose of reality. Jim Bob is a twisted DISASTER and has DESTROYED his once innocent, beautiful children with his sick, invented beliefs.

Has anyone seen Bin's video about the new idea of walking? It was done on 10/19 and he was in the motor home traveling. I wonder if they were going to Jinger's destination wedding this weekend? Boy, I'm sure this guy never works.

I know those NE Italian weddings very well, my friend...yes, you are correct, LOTS of food, dancing and celebration going on, all tasteful, of course, for Nonna, Nonnon, Zia and Zio are present as well as the parents and families of the bride and groom. I can't imagine how the Duggars are going to mess up this wedding...
and yes, laura, the Duggars are an embarrassment in our own country and an even larger one in other cultures.

I just checked out Ben's post regarding his instructions on taking a walk like he as suddenly discovered walking!! He says its good for "unwinding"!! Unwind from what, sitting on the sofa in his free rental deciding what hat to wear? He's a grown man with a wife, a child and one on the way. He should be ashamed to let it be known he has nothing better to do when most young men are busy working at a job earning a living to support their family.

The title of the next episode should be called 'Ben walks.....away' or
'Ben walks.... JessA to the l+d wing at the hospital' or
'Ben walks....to his job everyday'
'Ben walks 500 miles to raise Money for hungry or homeless kids'
When people are simple-minded even the most simple thing can be like the invention of the bwheel.

Not understanding the constant 'temporarily back in AK' comments. Why doors EVERY statement About Jill HAVE to contain that it is temporary?

Hey jessa- do you have anything useful to tell us besides that you plan on going on many walks before then weather turns?

Does anyone ever wonder how many 'Janas' there are hidden away in the Bible belt, created and ruled by weak minded people unable to think for themselves, caught up in the fear controlled world of religion?

smee said...

They should do a whole episode on Bin taking a walk and explaining to the viewers what to wear and how to walk. We can watch Bin and Jessa dress Spurgy for the outing-- that should take about 30 minutes. Bin can tell us how to buckle the toddler into the stroller. Bin can show us interesting weeds on the side of the road. Bin can show us a pretty bird and a squirrel. Riveting television.

Well, Bin is very young. Walking outside might be a new experience for him.

Almost every day I read a "new" report about Jimbob or Michelle discussing how Jeremy and Jinger are breaking the courtship rules by front hugging or having a little too much physical contact. Seriously?! This is the same father who was pissed that one of his daughters actually HELD HANDS with her fiancé as they prayed together. And the same father who made the decision to put a lock on his daughters' bedroom door at night in order to keep his oldest son from molesting the five-year-old. These are the parents who decided to cover up the incestuous activity by minimizing the boy's behavior to the point of outright lying on national television. This is the mother who had sympathy for her SON as she advised her girls to cover for him by continuing the lies with Megyn Kelley. They have the nerve to get upset about the angle of a hug?! What's it gonna take for one of these young ladies to hold a mirror to Mama's or Daddy's faces? The hypocrisy is shattering, wouldn't you say? THIS is why the Duggars don't want their children to have friends. A friend might point out a few um... contradictions.

I'll say it yet again. SOMEONE in the family should muster the nerve to point out these injustices to these two idiot parents. I will never understand why they don't.

No matter how boring, TLC keeps them going.

Ben goes from giving advice on taking a walk at the beginning of the week to some half-baked notion about racism and weeping today. (Who uses the word "weep" anymore?) Anyway, Ben should keep his opinions to himself until he grows up and is able to articulate his thoughts. Until then, SHUT UP, BEN.

ben will gain my respect when I see him stop having kids and go out and get a job. stop being a big talker and be a person that does something. when ben put that football camp together the men were all talking about their jobs in football and ben just sat there and could say a word because he really never had any kind of job and did not know much about sports. if Ben has a heart for the ministry and young people let him take care of young people go out and teach bible and help them not sit home and do nothing or be on tv. being on tv is not a job it leads to nothing but being a lazy mans jobs.

I looked up Life Champs and they have been running football camps for years. Anyway I do not believe he was in any way in charge. It looked to me that TLC knew about this camp and inserted Ben into it.

Someone asked about the pay scale for substituting. The Springdale site did not connect, but there was a site where permanent sub salary in Springdale started at $16,000 and went up to about $26,000. The Fayette Public School was paying substitutes that had a college degree $70 a day before taxes.
The requirements for being eligible for assistance in AR is for a family of 3 anything under $37,180 a year qualifies.
I am not saying that anyone in the Duggar family would qualify because of the money from the filming, but just pointing out how little the public wants to pay substitute teachers.

How can a young man like Ben justify being an unemployed husband and father of 2 children? It's turning into years now that he's doing nothing. Also about Dillard, how can he work in a school when he will prohibit his child from attending such a sinful place? Just another hypocritical Duggar action. Dillard must certainly notice the great difference in conversational abilities between childlike Jillymuffin & the college educated female teachers he encounters at the school. Is Jill meeting him in the car to bring him lunch to keep him out of the teachers lunchroom?

Alvinia, I agree with you completely about Derick working in a public school and most likely won't be able to allow his son to attend a school, public or Christian for that matter. It's the same contradiction with them having a TV show and not allowing a TV in their home that's hooked up to broadcast or cable viewing. These people ARE a piece of work in which their desires are met and served by others. I'm glad they're not perceived well in their community. I'd have more respect for them if they were truly a modest, religious family that kept to themselves, but respected the lives of others and the choices those people make for themselves. When people are respected for who they are and the beliefs that THEY THEMSELVES hold, they still can be considered friends and be socialized with. This family cuts out anyone who is different from them. That is NOT a Christian "policy". I have many good friends who are decent citizens and human beings that do not believe EXACTLY as I do in many areas and I am so glad to call them friends. The Duggars need life lessons, not us.

Meme said...

Alvinia: Exactly. You know, I wonder what Ben's father thinks about his son being unemployed. Is it a problem or is Ben just a Duggar now? Not to sound sanctimonious but I could NOT have an unemployed son (who has a wife and child, no less) lazing around without having quite a bit to say about it. All of these in-laws seem to be standing back, leaving it all to Jimbob. THAT IS A MISTAKE. Jimbob does not recognize that we all have a need to break away from our parents, it is the natural order of life. He seems trapped by his own mental disorder and his silly, giggling wife is not helping him. In-laws and children aren't speaking up - Lord, what a perfect storm.

I am posting in regard to Jessa's up coming childbirth. I am under the impression that if a mother bleeds excessively during a birth do to a tearing of tissue, she is then weakened in that area for future births. If she does not go to the hospital this time, she is endangering herself. She needs to survive to care for her children. Benji certainly can't do it but I guess they would give the burden to Jana if Jessa died. How stupid & uncaring can her husband and parents be not to insist she give birth under medical care in a hospital. We shall see if her life or TLC ratings more important to the Duggars.

Heart in Florida- I agree with your comment. Yes, the Duggars need a life lesson. Unfortunately they seem to have decided to do a tv show as a ministry because they already have all the answers and want to teach others. To learn one must have questions not answers. I thought this saying was just tacky when it was drilled into my head in college but it has been proven to be the best advice ever: Those who dare to teach must never cease to learn.

Despicable Duggars said...

So Jim Bob Duggar hands out questionnaires to future sons-in-law! Well that just takes the cake.. he thinks he's God almighty. I wonder if he had to fill out a questionnaire to marry Michelle? Ben didn't seem to think much about it but he was already under Jim Bob's thumb. If my father ever did anything remotely like that, I would have pack my suitcase & been long gone with or without marriage. I used to think Jim Bob was an idiot or at least a narcissist but now I think he's insane. Except for Ben,these young women & men are in their twenties. Jeremy closer to thirty. I wonder if Jeremy will find in the fine print that he can't take Jinger out of Duggarville. For God's sake Derrick was Jim Bob's prayer partner & had to fill out the questionnaire. This shows everyone that they are all living in the dark ages but under King Jim Bob's rules. We all know couples who we though we absolutely perfect for each other & yet the marriages failed. I've got news for Jim Bob you can't go by a questionnaire when a couple are in love & it's none of your business anyway. You raise your children to adulthood & then they are, or should be on their own when it comes to decisions like who they will marry. The most perfect couple might not turn out to be the most perfect couple. I am truly shocked by this admission from the couples that they had to fill out questionnaires. Anyone with a brain should have ripped the questionnaire up in Jim Bob's face & moved on to a normal family. Unless of course, their goal all along was to be a TV star.

Sydney said...

Since I don't watch what did the moron ask on his questionnaire? I shudder to think.

Since Jim Bob is so immature it might say What is your favorite color? What is your favorite flavor of cake? I thought most people quit doing that silliness in Junior high.

Alvinia it may be possible Jim Bob has orchestrated the situation so that Ben does not hold a normal job outside the house. One must remember one of the main tenets of a cult-isolate Members. Jim Bob is doing his job to keep young impressionable Bin from outside activity as much as possible. He must be FUMING over the Christian rap bs.
And now Derick is into the world ending so he has that to distract and scare Jill with.

Re:Bright Lights comments about Ben.I don't want to offend you or anyone else on the blog, but I can't believe anyone would think Ben is showing strength of character when he comes up with the idea of going for a walk. Also that football camp is something that is sanctioned by the county & has been around for yrs. Some of those men who Ben considered "his helpers" were actually Pro-athletes, others High School or College Football stars, who have been doing this for sometime. I don't know how Ben actually got involved in this, basically he was actually just on the fringe of the football camp. He didn't invent the idea or come up with all the essentials needed for a football camp. I don't think he knows anything about football.I believe the comments by; too Bad, so sad, about the football camp & Ben's involvement in it were spot on. When you're sitting around all day on the couch or just making more babies, I guess you can dream up anything.
For all the effort that Jim Bob has put into finding husbands for his daughters he was desperate when he picked a 17yr. old kid with little or no education, who sits around the house dreaming up things either to enlighten peoples lives, or just what activity he'll do next. How many didn't know that a walk was good for you? Perhaps it helps you clear your head. Maybe it will help you figure out how you're going to support a family with 2 children when you have no job & depend on your father-in-law's generosity to keep them feed & clothed. Not exactly a sure thing when you know just how far Jim Bob's generosity with money stretches.

smee said...

I hope nobody is expecting that Ben is going to get a job any time soon. He must, after all, come up with a name for his new baby. I have a suggestion: maybe he could take a walk WHILE thinking of a baby name, then he could kill two birds with one stone, so to speak, and get some exercise at the same time as he is contemplating another outrageous name for his child. I know it's a lot to do at once but if he tries really, really hard I know he can do it. Go, Ben!

Aunt Bea said...

If Jim Bob had all that information including a financial disclosure from Jeremy, why did he have to ask that embarrassing question about being able to support Jinger on a pastor's salary in front of his parents and the TV viewing world? Doesn't make sense to me. This is a ridiculous thing to put someone through who just wants to say "hello" to your daughter. Over the top and sick if you ask me. Why would anyone cooperate with such a thing? Jim Bob's daughters aren't the prize catch of girlfriends, after all, they have NO skills, NO life experience, NO opinions of their own except from their text, NO work experience, NO maturity. They are pretty much duds of young women.
Jana is in a dream world. She wants a guy with dirty nails, so she can work beside him? First of all, who wants a greasy guy? Secondly, how in the world will she work besides him when she will conceive every year and be busy either being pregnant or taking care of the multitude of children at home? She won't have a minute to do so. Wake up, Jana, you can't put two thoughts together.

Elizabeth C. said...

Jimbob has the intelligence of a 12 year old boy. What difference does it make about cake flavors, favorite colors when you are marrying someone? What about that magnetic attraction a person has toward someone they fall in love with, those sizzling lustful feelings that develop between 2 people wanting to be married and spend their lives together. This has nothing to do with favorite foods, etc. I think back in 6th grade, these were questions kids asked each other. If he's choosing a man for his daughers based on these questions look what he has found, unemployed Ben & Derrick. Jeremy probably was laughing to himself when he filled out the answers but he did it so he could be a tv star and have the opportunity to make lots of money with a television evangelist show. I sense this is the plan of this unemployed man.
He and Jinger may be the next Jim & Tammyfay Baker !!

Evana L said...

The financial disclosures of Jimbob's sons would be pitiful. Can you imagine a prospective father in law asking an adult Duggar boy "what is your educational background, your present income, savings and plans for the future"? I guess the boy/man would proudly show his Duggar Academy diploma, say my dad takes care of the family money after asking what the big word "financial" means and have no answer for future plans other then maybe someday be a missionary and definitely make your daughter endure home birth to as many babies as possible.

Karen, you are so right about Jana. What a shame. Not sure if I know a young person her age who is clueless about what they want out of life. If anything, they are sometimes a little TOO hopeful and unrealistic about their abilities - but that is what makes our youth such a special time. The Duggars are too restricted to have many dreams, especially the girls who aren't allowed to work. As I always seem to come back to it, here it is again: come on, Grandma! Or Aunt Deanna! Speak up! At least you can say you tried and can live with yourself.
BTW, isn't it interesting that Michelle idolized Mary Duggar, an independent business owner, before marrying her son? Yet she won't allow her daughters to be like their grandmother.

Marly said...

I wish Joy a happy birthday. She is just a year closer to being given to a man she hardly knows, who passes Jimbob's questions. She will be thrilled to have the attention just like Jinger as these girls are starved for affection and full of crazy ideas like a front hug from her mom or siblings is somehow sexually sinful. Suddenly, they are permitted to talk to a man and hold hands when they get the ring. Then they are married and harsh reality begins to sets in as in Jill's case, Anna's case and even Jessa can't be happy with Ben sitting around all day as if he is the great thinker.

To those who are wondering why grandma or aunt Deanna hasn't spoken up, I too have wondered.. but I was thinking, maybe they already have, I would think they probably spent years dropping hints and trying to have heart to heart conversations but Jim Bob is to stubborn and narcissistic to listen to anybody and Michelle is probably so afraid of this man inside that she trained herself to think like him... after so long they probably just gave up and don't have the heart to completely turn their back on him...

Sarahi Conde said...

And it just makes me really sad inside to see Michelle now, while also knowing their past.. they admit that they had stirred up anger and a physically violent relationship before they "found God" here is this vulnerable young girl who already has self image issues (balemia) desperate to be loved, and along came Narcissist Jim Bob, who probably made her feel like a princess at first then started getting jealous, controlling, and eventually abusive physically and emotionally, probably isolated her until every independent will she had left was gone, keeping her pregnant and vulnerable, controlling finances and communication with other people, shaming her and her past, putting the fear of God and hell in her every chance he can get, until finally Stockholm syndrome kicked in... she is now submissive to her abuser. The love of friends, school, family members, hobbies, it's all been forgotten. She only feels the love for her abuser and does anything he says, because if she doesn't, she knows what he is capable of.... I too had met someone just like Jim Bob, I wasn't as vulnerable though, I wasn't Michelle, I am grateful for the education of signs of abuse I had learned from school and even television.. I am grateful for family and friends who also know the signs of abuse, and got me out before it was too late.. I am sad because nobody saved Michelle before it was too late.. If you suspect someone is being manipulated, isolated or controlled please step in.. I'll tell you, once they have you isolated and controlling your means of communication, it's not easy getting out..

Obviously Mary cannot speak up or she wouldn't have been laundry woman to 21 people in order to earn her room at the Duggars. Jim should not have put her in that duty when the kids could have learned to do their own wash once a week. Those boys do nothing so it would not take time out of their schedules. No, Mary is under his control and probably was sent packing about the time Anna moved in when Josh was supposedly at the rehab but could very easily been spending time in Grandma's room, hiding out. He was never seen going to church services like the other perverts at the rehab so I'm thinking he was put on the Duggar property. Anything, any lie, is possible with the Duggar family.

Andrea said...

lisa magines: "I just wonder why mary duggar" I totally agree with you. So odd that a Grandmother would sit back and allow her grand daughters to be treated as her's are without saying something. My only thought is that perhaps she doesn't want to create family strife. Also, her other grand daughter, Amy, isn't exactly a brain box or college grad so perhaps this just isn't a family who places any value on education and female self-empowerment. Honestly, Michelle is a total loss cause and I wouldn't for a second think she would encourage her daughter's, but thought Mary Duggar would.

Jimbob is a joke, Willow. Only a creepy man with low intelligence presents a written questionnaire like that. Since Jeremy has self professed a wild past in college, doubt he remained a virgin boy. It's really none of our business but Jimbob makes it tvland's business as that is the main goal in life, pure virginity of his youngsters then put into lots of married sex to create more children for the Duggar cult. It will be interesting in the future to see how these uneducated adults and all their offspring survive without schooling & jobs.

I think the comments about cake flavors and favorite colors came from this questionnaire: http://www.stufffundieslike.com/2013/06/the-pre-courtship-questionnaire

This questionnaire is online and has been used by fundamental Christians. There is no evidence that JimBob uses this one. It is just an example of what has been used by others.
