I wonder if this is the same 'guest house' that was decorated before Ben moved in?

Sharon said...

No, Ben was never in a guest house or at least the room they showed as his was not. They built a "guest house" or apartment in one of the commercial buildings in front of the main house. They also use the "pool house" as a guest house. That's the house where Jill's supposed mentor midwife lived for a time.

Jimbob and TLC must show how happily busy Jana is with her life in Duggarville to justify her remaining there in her 25th year. She probably is happy as she knows no other way to live but to take on the projects she is told to handle, such as installing the fan in Ben & Jessa's house as Ben sat on the sofa!!!, the tree house (professionally finished), the veggie garden and now redecorating. I feel Jimbob & Michelle have brainwashed her very successfully to the point where she is similar to a robot without thoughts of how her life will be years from now. That was shown when asked what she thought her life would be like in 5 years. It was as if she had never thought of her future and stumbled with and answer. I feel very sad for this pretty and loving woman who seems to be so stuck. One day she will wake up, be 50 years old, & still serving her elderly parents.

What?? Ben gets up off the sofa to host an NFL football camp?? He sure did not arrange this himself. When did he ever play serious football or know any NFL players? Ridiculous attempt by TLC to show Ben as an athlete when in reality he is just a boy wearing a backward cap on his head, no job or now real friends. I doubt Jeremy was his friend until the courting story line was created. TLC sure is working overtime to come up with Duggar shows. There better not be any Catholics among the NFL football players!!!

Jana and John David will be 27 this January. I wonder if they realize how much harder it will be to find someone of JB standards as they grow older? Jana is so beautiful. I wish she would use this to her advantage NOW while she is still in her twenties to get the man of her dreams.

gen said...

Actually, I would imagine that Jana is happy with all the "projects" they have her do. It's probably a lot less boring than having the little kids pulling on her skirt. I would imagine it's a nice change of pace.

Maybe with all the resources the Duggars have with cars, they could pour on the families like Ben suggests, and help single moms by having a car repair camp. Ben said he wanted to get out there and just pour on the kids. Meaning the same thing as loving on the kids in the orphanages. So Ben wants to get out there and pour love and attention on the underpriveleged kids. Coincidentally, doing just the activity he enjoys. Then what Ben. What happens when football camp is over. Could he maybe pour out his love doing a fundraiser to help families with utility bills. Football Ben? You were no good at it in Community College.

Wow, the twins will be 27 years old in January. How odd to be that age and never speak to a person of the opposite sex outside of the family. The older they get, the more difficult it will be for them to court under the watchful eye of a younger buddy along on a date when approaching 30 years old. I bet Jimbob never expected the situation that is unfolding with unmarried adults hanging around the house but what else could he expect without providing educations? Wonder how this family is going to be in 10 years.

I never thought about having that many used cars that they could use. I wonder why TLC hasn't filmed them helping others with those cars. Here there is a need for people to volunteer and drive sick children and their parent(s) to a state of the arts medical center for treatments and then back home. There is also a need to transport elderly or poor people to the doctor, pharmacy and local hospital. Doing something like that would put the Duggars back in a better light.
I don't think TLC is really trying anymore. I think they are looking for the next unusual group to film. More like Ripley's Believe It of Not than an Learning channel.

I just had a flashback memory. Back when I used to watch these hillbillies I remember Jill's birthday.... Back before DerickDillard... When they seemed to have met her for lunch at an outside table. I think mama gave her candy and daddy gave her a necklace. She told them she got a ticket when she was speeding to deliver a baby.
1. Why would she need to speed since she was just a looky Lou who went to gawk.
2. They acted like she met them there and this was the first they had heard about her ticket. I betcha she had a chaperone when she was racing to the home birth. Did they not tell? Oh, wait. Jill is the family tattle-tale.

If she drove over to meet them there where
was The chaperone who rode with her? Did her sibling Chaperone get to have lunch?
If she rode with her mommy and daddy I think they'd have had the " i got me a ticket" convo already on the drive over, if they didn't have it when she pranced in after Miss Self-important had delivered that baby.

Oh, more lies from the Duggars???

Ok, I am watching last week's episode right now, the part where Ben is outside barbecuing with Flame... is it just me or is he trying to sound like a ghetto rapper to Flame? Like, 'hey itzz cool..Ima bee cool like Flame'..

Has anyone else noticed that the only commercials on the show are other TLC shows or movie trailers. Are there any sponsors left for this show?

Ridiculous said...

Re:Dee's comments. I think that Jill always had Jana with her as her as her chaperone under the guise of Jana wanting to be a doula, which she plainly stated she wasn't a bit interested in. I thought Jill came to the lunch with her parents & decided now that she had their undivided attention, she would tell them about the ticket. That was when Michelle gave her that unwrapped brown paper bag like you get from the supermarket filled with bags of various candy. Don't they have any nice candy stores where she could have just brought her a 1/2 pound of nicely wrapped candy suitable for a birthday instead of throwing a brown bag full of candy on the table, with the statement "here I know you like this candy." Don't forget they go out in two's not as chaperones according to Michelle, but because that's they way Jesus sent his apostles out..in two's. I never believed that story about the speeding ticket anyway. It seems to me in a small town the police would just give a warning or let her go on her way, if she said she was needed somewhere in a medical emergency. As I always say you never really know with these people.

As a matter of a fact... said...

Why does Jill always get to live in a Mcmansion? That house is beautiful on the outside and will be gorgeous inside when Jana and the others(TLC) are done remodeling it for them! The Stony Brook house was awesome too! Compared to that dinky little thing Josh and Anna started in, where now Jessa and Ben live, it does look like daddy plays favorites!

Heart in Florida said...

What a boring episode...didn't think they could possibly top last week's boring episode, but they DID! WAAAAAYYYYY tooo much Ben and his football camp. If I wanted to know that much about the former NFL players and football, I would have watched ESPN. Not the least interested in the detail that they went in to.

How many times did they have to "preview" Jinger and Jeremy's trip to his families house? Just go already and show the footage of it. A couple of minutes about "Jana's redecorating" that mansion guest house...still boring, though.
I was taken back at the lack of knowledge that Jana, Jinger and Joy have about simple routine things....like baked ziti...who doesn't know what that is? The difference between spaghetti and linguini? Simple..spaghetti is a round long nodle-like pasta, as linguini is a thicker, flatter with 2 sides more rounded than spaghetti. They don't have a clue. Jinger isn't very mature or smart if you ask me. I hope Jeremy knows what he's getting in to. I was very surprised to see that Jill, Jinger and Jessa have no idea what to do in a kitchen. How is that in keeping with Michelle's plan to raise perfect homemakers? She has failed miserably at this. Just doesn't add up. Jana only knows how to combine canned, boxed or frozen ingredients to come up with something to eat. She doesn't know how to cook anything from scratch either. It also goes to show you just what Razorback fans they really are...Jessa doesn't have much knowledge at all about football, yet she wears a jersey just because her headship, Ben, would like her to wear one. This family never watched sports, let alone football until the sons-in-law came in to the picture very recently. The more THs that the older girls have, the more we see how uneducated and unaware they are. Jana has been "trained up" to have no will of her own, any and all thoughts about what her own goals and aspirations might be have been trained out of her to think about. This woman of 26, has no depth or personality to her that has been left. Such a shame. I think the same goes for John David, as they are the older ones and their parents were 110% Gothard at that time and were hardest on them, Joshua included.
All in all, this episode was such a disappointment...please, Duggars, go quietly and retain SOME dignity in the process.

So, so boring. SOOO BORING.

Hello said...

When will TLC cancel this nonsense? All of the kids are naive and know nothing about real life and TLC really plays that up. They claim to be Razorback fans and apparently go to games, yet the girls know nothing about football. Jinger was so worried about what her hair looked like for her man that she was willing to miss her flight to go see him. None of them have real jobs. Jana seems to have had all the life sucked out of her. She is 26 and her life is raising her siblings and doing everything for everybody. Why is she responsible for getting the house ready for Jill and Derrick when they return from their extended vacation? By the time Jboob decides she can get married and finds her a husband will she have to abide by the courting rules? She could be pushing 40 and have mommy and daddy monitoring phone calls, texts and video chats. Her nieces and nephews would be old enough to chaperone her dates. The boys have nothing to offer a prospective wife. They just lie around the house with their sisters doung everything for them.

This show is beyond dull, and shows the dysfunction of this family fully. It is a tragedy. When will TLC pull the plug?!

Big kite said...

I want this show off the air for many reasons including that I don't approve of their intolerant beliefs towards other people's religions and their restrictive controls of women's behavior.

I do have a heart though, and it's going to be hard on the kids when the TLC cash stops rolling in.

The adult-kids will need to tighten their belts, kiss up to dad to get money to survive, or get jobs (God Forbid). If they don't, they will be living in poverty in just a few years.

I don't think JB will allow his son inls to have real jobs.I think he believes that would be beneath the Duggar family name. Not to mention, not in keeping with fundie rules.
I know the Bates are tolerant of this, but that is because they have had to be.
I think JB will be supporting the families, including Josh's,indefinitely, when the show ends.JMO

These Duggar girl/women are pathetically stupid. Airheads. Disgusting to watch. No man in his right mind would want to be around them for long. For heaven's sakes, turn on the TV and learn something. Read a newspaper. Read a book. Google.

I bet the family dynamics have really changed with Jill and Derick back on the compound with Josh and his jailers. Sounds like Ben works there less and less now that he is taking classes again and obeying Jessa. Jessa seems to be in charge of all of the storylines too. Such power.

Willow said...

Jinger appeared to be SO proud of herself for not knowing much about a kitchen. She and Jessa seem to think that its cute if they appear dumb and helpless.

Jeanette said...

I believe the Gothard way is for you to be self-employed. That could be why Gil Bates left being an accountant and is now a 50-something year old man cutting trees. I guess it keeps you out of the world. Erin's husband seems to work in some sort of factory, so they seem to be rejecting that. They have said that they aren't affiliated with IBLP. Compare that to most of the Duggar young men languishing at home. I guess all hands needed to be on deck these last umpteen years for filming. What will they do when the show ends soon? I'd still like to see maybe an annual special on the kids - no Josh, but Anna would be okay, but I don't think that will happen.

too bad,so sad said...

Sandi- I think you are right that JB doesn't want his sons, daughters and/or son in laws to get jobs in the secular community. I think it is for a different reason and I think he is right. Working with a diverse set of people just changes you. I know I worked with great people. I, like everyone, had some set ideas that were just taught to me and were part of the society I grew up in. Nothing racist or bias just more old fashioned. Being exposed to new ideas or different ways to do things made me change many of my ideas of what is right and what is good. Left me with an attitude that if it doesn't hurt anyone then why not, there is no right way to do things. My way is just one of many ways that are right. It's all good.
What in the world would happen if JBs family started to think like that?
I think there are a lot of other reasons as well, but I think this is one of them.

I felt so sad for Jana fixing up that big, beautiful house for Jill. As a woman in her midtwenties, she should have already decorated her own dorm room or apartment but instead she has only been allowed to redo the girls' room (which she has to share with her little sisters), Jessa/Ben's house while they were on their honeymoon, and now this house. I am glad that the garden and the decorating keeps her busy but I wish, for her sake, that she was allowed to do these things in her OWN place!

How did Flame get together with isolated Ben?? Ben is friends with a rapper story line is so phony. Isn't the family supposed to be afraid of outsiders, especially an inner city rapper? Is there nothing else they can do with Ben? How about getting up at 7 am, going to school & getting a job?

Hello said...

I believe Flame is just another "friend" the Duggars found to come up with a storyline. They can only show the girls so many times acting like they lost all the brains they had because they are ao in love. They can show them only so many times talking about how they don't know how to cook even though they have been trained since they were little to do what Mullet should have been doing. I would like to see any of the kids going to college or getting a real job. I believe there are lots of reasons while the boys are not encouraged to get a job. They could have a woman for a boss and Duggar boys have been trained to believe females are beneath them and are only good for cooking, cleaning, satisfying them and having babies. They also uave no concept of time. They run on Duggar time which means they show up when they want to and anyone should feel privileged to see them whenever time it might be. I personally believe that all the Duggar males are just plain lazy and I blame Jboob and Mullet for not encouraging them to do anything.

I agree with the posters about Jana. She seems genuinely lovely and is so gorgeous despite that carb and tater-tot heavy diet. It's so sad (and rage making) that she is used as a free housemaid and babysitter. I have these fantasies (I should get out more) about her suddenly announcing she's saved money and is off to New York or she has written to Oprah asking for help and shoots off to NYC. And then she is given her own reality show - The Unbreakable Jana Duggar - meets a great man and sets off round the world.

One of them has to break free. I hope it's Jana.

The football camp was nothing more than Ben using an already existing program from Little Rock but with TLC deciding to leave that part out.

John David is the most productive and ambitious one of the all, well except for Jana. Of course they are twins, so she must have zapped some of that off him while in the womb together. The others, however, ugh! Joy may be the next Jana, in terms of household work and such. But the rest just seems to do whatever, whenever!

Carlie said...

John David can fly and drive trucks and bulldozers. He has no job, lives with his parents, let's his sisters do his laundry and feed him. He IS NOT an independent adult.

Ben just wanted some little boys to look up to him, so an easy way to do that was a football camp at TLC's expense. His ego never quits. He plays. He does not work. Derick does not work. Jinger should be studying with a commercial photographer so she can start her own business. Instead she plays airhead to a man who doesn't work. How could he work? He spends all of his time responding to her texts and videos and phone calls. He wants people to look up to him. What better way to do that than to preach??? What an ego. Same with Derick. These boys are sick, sick, sick. Watching their wives and Jinger fawn over them is troubling.

Sharon said...

John David had a towing company. He is a volunteer peace officer and did lots of work with heavy equipment in exchange for a house.

Driving trucks and bulldozers are definitely considered legitimate jobs! My father drove truck and I know guys who run bulldozers and, trust me it is long days and can be exhausting! At least John David does have some motivation and work ethnic. I applaud him for doing the many things he does. He is even a tow truck operator. I agree I think John is the best worker of the boys and Jana the worker bee of the girls.

"Marjorie seems to be well over Josiah" Thank goodness for that. She appears to be attending John Brown University. According to Wiki: "a private, interdenominational, Christian liberal arts college in Siloam Springs, in the U.S. state of Arkansas. " Can someone from the Duggar family clearly articulate and explain why none of their children can attend such an institution? Also written: "John Brown University made national news when it changed its long historically held position not to endorse dancing. In December 2006, the school sponsored its own swing-themed dance on campus." The school seems tailor made for the Duggar's. I honestly cannot think why any college educated adult would be interested in being friends with or being married to a Duggar. Imagine the conversations which must take place between Jill and Derick, he mentions some benign pop culture reference and she stares at him all confused. "Who's Michael Jackson again?" It must seriously happen at least once a day. How could anyone stand it?

"Jinger goofing off and almost being late for the plane was driving me crazy. They need to have a funeral for Duggar Time. So inconsiderate"

Since I don't have cable, I couldn't watch the show, so I'm confused as to whom Jinger was being inonsiderate of? Was she taking a charter or a private plane? If she was flying commercial, the flight would have simply taken off without her. The airlines are not going to hold a commercial flight for anyone, especially Jinger Duggar, trust me. If she was late for her flight, she wouldn't have inconvenienced anyone but herself. Although, if other family members were traveling with her, I guess this had the potential to make them late and miss the flight too. Maybe that's what you mean. Regardless, no need to be driven crazy by it. Just make sure you arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your scheduled departure (or at least 2 hours for an international flight) and you won't have anything to worry about. Jinger's goofing off is not going to make YOU late for anything, so please try to keep calm about it lol.

Did anyone look up the business owner/license and check if John David Duggar owns that towing company he "works" for? The occupational license department in the county/city where they live will tell all about the Duggar owned businesses.

Rudy Tecat said...

John David may have all these "jobs" (public safety officer, tow truck driver, land clearer, etc) but he can still drop everything to help build some tree-house, fly to Wisconsin with his Dad and brothers, go on missionary trips, etc. I've been working at a full time job for over 30 years, and I don't think I've had enough time off to do any ONE of those things in a year, let alone all of them. So much for JD's "jobs".

Sharon said...

The entire incident with Jinger and the curling iron looked staged. Shortly after she was allegedly running late, they showed the rest of the party making breakfast. They could have aired things out of order or it could all have been just more TLC fake drama.
TLC has so overused we're running late in this and other shows that I never believe it any more.

Willow said...

Jinger's mom, sister, brother-in-law and nephew were traveling with her. Supposedly, her being late was making them late as well. However, Sharon is correct, they were making breakfast at the stove AFTER jacking up Jinger that she was making them late. Bringing Up Bates seems to be able to film their shows in somewhat of a continuous time frame that make sense. I don't understand why the Duggars can't be a little more reliable. They have had years of practice.

Ridiculous said...

I believe Jinger made the comment that they could just take the next flight or they could always drive to the destination. We've seen the Duggars running around saying they are going to be late for this or that many times, yet there they are always cooking that breakfast. Only thing different this time was Michelle was in the kitchen at the stove.

I'm sure there will be many who will disagree with me & cite other episodes but I have watched this show/ministry since it started. By the way, anyone ever hear it referred to as a ministry anymore? But I digress. In all the yrs. this show has been on the air never have I seen a more boring episode.

Heart in Florida said...

It's now hilarious to me that all we have seen Michelle "cook" is one egg at the stove. I think that's all she knows how to cook...BTW, it was a rare occasion that she cooked an egg for one of her children, Jinger in this case...but it was all scripted and for show. That would never happen in "real life".

roddma said...

Michelle isn't the only one who can nurture a kid when they fall. The thing is neither Jim Bob show the kids any real caring emotion. The only time I saw any emotion from either is when JOsie was born.
I know Quiverfull/IFB/ATI teaches you can't show any emotion but happiness so I could imagine it was hard for them. Even some of secular society considers men showing emotion as feminine. I wonder how many of us ran to mom when we fell or were sick vs dad. Except in the DUggar's case they run to the nearest sister mom.

Michelle and the older daughters aren't the only ones who cna cook. It is surprising they don't know how to cook much from scratch.

If John David owns the towing company and bulldozes on occasion, this explains how he can get away when needed. At least he does things and doesn't just sit on his behind on the family Duggar couch all day, like we have seen with a few others!

Yes, JD seems to work at least a little bit. He has a couple of legitimate skills such as a CDL and. private pilot's license. He could make enough money to support himself. I know the wife of a truck driver whose husband makes nearly six figures.

1. Yes, the children are immature, not very smart, lazy and all of that, but it's always been their parents' fault. I actually feel sad for them.

2. This episode was under a million and the other ones were not much above a million. I still can't understand why it's still standing.

3. If 10 years of filming and doing public speaking have not cured them of Duggar time, nothing will. I think it's just one of the multiple gimmicks on the show. At first it was the imperfection of this seemingly perfect family, now, it's just been there too long to change it. There are plenty of big families or even families with special need children who manage to be on time. Heck, most of those kids are now big enough to figure out what being on time means. They have no excuse except thinking that their time is worth more than anyone else's. They clame that serving others is the most important thing of all, but it's as long as it doesn't mean they have to get up early, or respect a set schedule.

4. I think John's multiple activities are a way to get out of the house. He's a pretty quiet guy, I'm sure the bustle of the house drives him crazy sometimes.I do see him, Jana and Josiah has having a bit more potential, or willingness to work than the others. JD, as a boy can get out of the house without being bothered too much, Jana doesn't have that chance.

I absolutely hate the way the Duggars have their own time zone. The little ones might not understand yet but the older ones certainly do & what's worse they make jokes about it. I remember the first time Josh & Anna has an appointment with Dr. Sarver & they were running late due to Josh. He informed Anna that the Dr. would wait for them. Anna was a nervous wreck wanting to be on time, she probably had never even had a pelvic exam. What nerve Josh had. Here was Anna expecting her first baby & he didn't care a bit about her feelings & how worried she was.
As far as flying on a commercial plane, my son is a member of the crew on a well known commercial airline & I can't tell you how many times they have left real celebrities at the gate because the were late & the doors of the plane were already closed & ready for take off. The law is once the doors are closed they can't open them for a passenger who is late in arriving. After all, there are passengers on the flight that need to make connecting flights etc. I realize that planes are often late for various reasons, i.e. mechanical problems so they need to move passengers to another plane, or the crew becomes illegal to fly because they have already flown so many hours that day & now they are being held up by various problems. Not to mention bad weather.
The Duggars are disgusting. They have no manners, how many times have they arrived at the airport on time for the scheduled flight, as the other passengers have. The anwer is never & then they receive special treatment.
