One of our friends put together some shots of the Duggar house and area here.

What is the house in the fourth picture on the slideshow? Is that Josh & Anna's house?

Who does the big house with the tennis court belong to?

looks about as appealing and homey as army barracks. Fort Duggar

I'm interested in learning about the Duggars through what I see on the TV show, but I'm uncomfortable looking at these aerial shots from Google or a similar map site. I don't know: this just seems invasive.

everyones house is avail to see. why should the Duggars be different.

Josh and Anna live in Fayetteville, and the Duggars live in Tontitown. That is a cool view of their house. It looks huge from above. I would love to have all that land for my kids to run and play. Although I really think they need a dog!

I think they have or had a dog. I remember Michelle talking about the boys walking and feeding the dog in one of the specials. Of course, that dog may have passed on by now.

Harriet, I believe there is a picture of a dog in the opening credits. He's in one of those "snapshot" borders like the rest of the kids.

They have a dog, Jasmine

They have a really nice huge house, that is big enough for all their children. Now when all of them move out Are they going to sell it or, stay in there because god told them to?

mamawama said...

They have a really long time before all the kids move out. Think of all the grandkids! They will probably have to keep the house just to have enough room for Thanksgiving dinner!

I thought Jasmine was the neighbors dog? Didn't the dog come around during the episode where they were showing the garden?

JaeY said...

I forget where I read it, but Jasmine definitely is their dog. Michelle really is the only one in the house without "J" in her name, lol.

It's the Gosselins. It makes the exploitation easier for the production company. LOL!

You're a genius, momof5! I should have realized that! =-)

There was a dog in the show about the Christmas parade. It looked like a black lab mix. It was walking around when they were putting the float together.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the Duggar family with the news of the loss of their beloved Grandpa "Grampy" Duggar (2/10). He must have been sick for much longer than they protrayed on the show. So sad. He was one of my favorites!

For the party who said their house looks like a compound or army barrack I would like to say inside of the house it has no resemblance to either of those. The inside is warm and personal. Their bed rooms are personally designed with what the children wanted as the designer who finished off the rooms asked them what they wanted in their rooms. I personally think the inside of the house is very warm and a place for children as they have a whole room filled with play things and there is a slide from the boys room to the play room.

The Duggars worked on house construction for several years, but TLC finally stepped in and finished it AND furnished it AND got professional decorators to make it 'homey.'

They worked on it for several years and had to move twice, once between this house and the one they lived in for years. I think they got help as they were running out of places to find to rent for that large size. Yes, they got it furnished however they had a lot of things themselves that they bought and saved and put in storage. Michelle went without a lot of things in her other smaller home and saved as she knew one day her dream home would become a reality as they worked so hard and saved and built.

Even when the house was helped out in the end TLC did not finish it completely as they had to wait for at least one year to get AC.

I have nothing but good things to say about this family. I could not live their life, but they are good and responsible people.

OK..I work indirectly for TLC (I cant elaborate).I am hired out occasionally by them to work on specials. While I have NOT had anything to do with the series 17 and Counting...I DID work on 2 specials concerning the Duggars. The first of which was there moving episode. TLC DID pay to have the house finished but it was VERY minimal (under 25,000) but that was THE ONLY THING they ecieved for doing those specials!!! They did not buy them appliances or any sort of home decor. Michelle and Jim Bob saved for years (almost 15) to build this house debt free. They still needed around 50,000 to have the house completely finished, but were given a new date that they needed to move out of their original home (almost a year ahead of time) and decided to move in SOONER THAN PLANNED but forgo the air. They took just enough from TLC to finish their home so they did not have to dig into other budget categories and were still able to get all their neccessities AND make the home cozy for the kids. Should they have gotten air instead of new furniture?? Well maybe, but we dont all think alike and I dont think their kids are any worse off because they went for 1 summer without air...Ma and Pa Ingalls did it their whole like AND had no electric fans.
Anyway the point is--the Duggars would have been able to finish th house without TLC, it just would have taken them about 6-8 months longer, and I never thoufht there was anything wrong with them taking the little they did for the specials...it benefited their kids in a HUGE way. They didnt go on vacation with the money, or get hairplugs or their teeth whitened or tummy tucks (Yes, I have worked with those other people too occasionally). Everyong gets paid for their specials with TLC and the Duggars were by far no where near greedy.
