Well, the Duggars really know how to attach themselves to the gravy train. According to Josh's social media, they are staying at the Ritz (!!) while tagging along with Santorum.

I was looking at instagram just now. In all the recent pics, Anna is holding one of the kids in front, as if to cover her baby belly? Also I think in the Floridian Club ones, Michael looks a lot like the youngest Duggar girls (Josh's little sisters). Also what is all this Confederate business...the flags and bumper stickers? In 2012, really?

Truth, Josh? REALLY????

I suspect that Anna is incubating grand Duggar number three and that Michelle will be following soon with number twenty something.

I don't want to state something that Is not true, but the Duggars kind of give off a "white is right" vibe. I think any shots they take with African-Americans are staged. I bet we'll never see any African foreign exchange students hanging out with them unless, of course, TLC reads this board.

It cost them 500 bucks to fill up the bus. Josh posted it on his webpage. Grow Up, Josh.

In reference to that picture, nothing the Duggars teach is historically accurate. Teaching history to their offspring would disrupt their "Gothard-JimBob-Michelle" triad. Knowledge is power, and the Duggar parents certainly don't want their kids to have that.

Josh, please keep posting your asinine pictures and "worldly" commentary. You look incredibly foolish, and by association so do your parents and their sect. "Pride comes before the fall", and Child, you are plummeting.

In addition to food, Josh keeps posting pictures of university signs that he is visiting "on the trail". The only response - so far - to Ave Maria University in Florida is the following:

fuzzybuzzy Do you ever wish you went to school? There are so many good Christian colleges! 2h

P.S.: He ordered fish tacos at The Floridian Club AND french fries on the side!

I can not put my finger on it, but I also think the Duggars give off a biggoted smell. I am white and straight but I have wondered what JimBob and Michelle would say if one of their kids came in and was secretly dating a person of another race or were gay. When they do Q and A, I always wanted to ask if you only had two choices which you would prefer for your child to tell you:

1. They are Gay or
2. They are secretly married to a person of another race.

They would never answer or be asked, but I would love their response because I do not think it would contain the words, in love with, or welcome family member

When I saw a picture of Anna on Josh's Instagram about a week back, sitting at a table at Wade's Family Restaurant, I immediately suspected she was pregnant. She definitely looks like she has a baby bump in that pic, as well as just the way she was sitting and placing her arms.

A recent pic posted shows Dad (Josh) with Kynzie & Michael...I admit, IMO it's a great photo. Josh looks the way I think he should look (it's hard to explain, but I guess I could say the photo doesn't look like "It's all about me", like all his other pics do) This is where you should get back to Josh. Unfortunately, the pic right below is yet another plate overflowing with food.

Scroll down to a pic of Anna with Kynzie. Anna looks very tired and 10 years older. She has on dark eyeliner which makes her look even more exhausted, not to mention (as someone else said), she looks to be covering her baby bump with Kynzie in front. They all need to just get off the road and go back home.

Too bad Josh doesn't have a comment about whether he would ever attend school, since there are a lot of great Christian colleges out there. I'd like to hear a response. Also a response about the Ritz hotel stay.

I guess since the campaign road trip can't be used in the show, since they would have to give equal time to competitors, etc., that's why Josh is going crazy documenting every stupid thing on Instagram-after all, The Duggars must be heard!

Leah said...

Why would it be so hard to believe that Anna is pregnant again? I mean you should pretty much expect for Anna to be pregnant most of the time. Thats their goal. She wants to be just like Michelle. Besides, what will they have to talk about once Santorum drops out of the race?

Josh really is rotund. I wonder if the patriarchal system has anything to do with that. What I mean is, men are inherently worshiped just because of their gender. They don't have to do anything special, look good, or be good people. Because they are men, they are superior. Their women serve them and stare at them adoringly no matter if they are fit and attractive or fat and sloppy. Does Josh ever think to himself, "Anna would probably like it if I lost some weight"? The thought has probably never crossed his mind. Ugh

Wow Josh, the Battle Flag of the Confederacy? Really? While it's "true" meaning is probably somewhat innocuous, it still represents a dark time in our nation. To many, it is still perceived as a symbol of hate, slavery and ongoing racism. I realize that many just view it as Southern pride and part of the culture, but to Northerners, it's unacceptable. The original meaning of the swastika was one of peace in many cultures, but it in now associated with the Holocaust, so it will forever be tainted. Would you dare display that on your car or take a picture in the name of historical accuracy?

Stop being so self-righteous and insensitive. Who is victimizing you that you must always be so darn defensive? Get over yourself.

Andrea said...

Further to the comment made by Tweet: "the Duggars kind of give off a "white is right" vibe." I have to disagree. I can recall in a couple of instances where they've been in situations where people of different races mix. The church they attended in Little Rock being one, and that trip to either the Bronx or Harlem in NYC.

I also wondering if TLC is filming any of this to run episodes supporting Santorum. Everyone thinks that if TLC gives any airtime to Santorum it would have to do the same for a Democratic candidate, not sure where this idea came from. Media outlets endorse candidates all the time. That said, if they do show anything about the Duggar life on the campaign trail how could they present a family image of the Duggar’s with the young children at home being cared for my grandma? Jim Bob and Michelle and two very selfish people. You shouldn’t be helping anyone’s campaign you should be home looking after your children.

Alberta Rose said...

To me the instagr.am of electoral campaign trails isn't any worse then the people who Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or post on a message board every last detail of whazzup. Josh Duggar is hardly unique for what he's doing.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

If Anna *is* pregnant, that's got to be chapping the hides of the 4 oldest girls. Here's Anna well into making a dent on having her own 20 (or is it 21 now) kids at age 23, and they don't have even one, no less a suitor in near sight. Instead of having their own kids and families, they are taking care of their parents' responsibilities. Keeping sweet must be a very difficult job these days.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Not to belabor the point about if TLC would have to provide equal air time to other candidates: the following link talks about the Communications Act of 1934, specifically Section 315 which "Broadcasters interpreted the FCC's decision as now requiring equal time for a candidate anytime another candidate appeared on the air, even if the appearance was not linked to the election campaign".

As a black woman, I resent the comparison of interracial marriage to gay marriage. I too am a Christian, and I often wonder the Duggars' true thoughts on race. However, I certainly respect their stance on homosexuality. The two are not to be compared and I so wish people would stop. I find it very disrespectful and I hope this comment doesn't open up a can of worms ...

Lindy said...

Some have commented on the Duggars' stance on race, that they have been to African American churches and homes on the show. But I always found those things all staged, by TLC perhaps. I doubt that the Duggars (especially Jim Bob and Michelle) would ever mingle with people of other races if they freely chose to. If Josh is any indication of the apple not falling far from the tree, they have issues with everyone that isn't exactly like them, in appearance, religious views, and handicaps.

As for Josh's instagrams, I wish he would stop taking pictures of TVs. I'd be more impressed if he took a pic of a newspaper and made a comment.

I also want him to comment on whether he would go to one of the nice Christian colleges a commenter mentioned in one pic of his instagram.

Anonymous said...

Josh's constant twittering and posting on webstagram is NOT the issue. The problem is the rude and insensitive things he is saying. The other problem is that he is a person that has publicly declared to be someone who follows Christ. When you do that, your words must be chosen CAREFULLY. There are thousands of people who look up to the Duggars as role models. Do you really think that saying "Catholics in general = wrong beliefs" is a Christ-like thing to say? I don't care WHAT you believe, that is a statement made out of hate, not love. I am embarrased that he is representing my faith in this way.

I have another questions for our readers if you can help me.

I have been looking up the Bill Gothard teaching and found it laughable that he gives woman hair and make-up advice.

I have been looking for information about Bill Gothard teaching regarding men working for employers. Someone on here once said that he doesn't believe that a man should have a "boss" like it is beneath him to be told what do do. Jimbob has never had a real job, Josh is his own "boss" and the Bates are living under the poverty level with their own company. Can anyone confirm this for me?

tulip said...

Gothard giving hair & make-up advice? Ugh! Maybe that's why all the girls had that same long hairdo with parted side-swept bangs...thank goodness most have moved on. What about that dark black eyeliner, Jinger in particular, and now (as I've noticed in pics) Anna as well! NOT flattering.

It would sound about right there would be some nonsense about men not working under a "boss", although I haven't looked into it, except John-David now too is following in those footsteps with his own business.

Well, it looks like Josh's instagram is now private, and Anna's is public.

As for Josh's Twitter/Instagram...I don't care that he has one, they're open to the public. What I care about are the hateful, ignorant comments he is making on those websites. After watching the State of the Union, and seeing what Josh posted, it is very clear that he is just parroting what the party thinks, not using his own mind.

I have to say, I was pretty surprised when Josh referenced the fact that they're tea party conservatives (from his twitter: @RickSantorum drives it home! He's the only true tea party conservative on the stage!). You're free to be whatever political party you want, but it made me realize just how extremely conservative they are, in all of their views.

ennvee said...

I couldn't find the exact recommendations that fathers start home-businesses; it may be a feature of the Basic or Advanced Seminars Gothard offers. But given the umbrella of protection he advocates on his website:

http://billgothard.com/teaching/authority

I can extrapolate that into a larger perspective of the father forming a home business to stay closer to his family and be "of the world" but not really "in" it (which raises its own set of concerns about separation from society and how hard it will be for those kids to break away if that's what they CHOOSE to do).

Then again, as long as these people are on TV, they will not be going anywhere.

I don't know about nowadays, but back when I was in public school ,the confederate flag was banned (here in my area in the south) from all cars,jackets,t-shirts,notebooks,stickers,etc.,period,due to it being considered offensive to some.Do the Duggars not know this,or do they not care?

AnotherRN said...

What I still can't understand is how the Duggars can justify following Gothard's teachings! I don't mean because I think the guy is a loony toon (which I do), but because I thought that Christians weren't supposed to worship anyone other than Christ. I'm not looking to argue religion; I just don't understand. To Josh: isn't your following of Gothard akin to a Catholic following a priest's teachings? Seriously, what's the difference?

AnotherRN said...

Wow, just reviewed the instagram account again. What an immature oaf! Josh made a comment that he was shopping in a "Romney class store." What is that supposed to mean and how is Joshie any better if he is shopping there? Does he think Rick Santorum's wife doesn't have any Coach bags? Wow, for allegedly modest people, they sure do like their material possessions: Coach bags, a Hummer, a luxurious tour bus to drive around in, iPhones, etc...

I personally don't think Josh's Romney hate has anything to do with politics. IMHO it's all because Romney is a Mormon. Too many political and religious arguments to be had, but all I have to say is that Josh obviously hasn't researched the candidate's ACTUAL records. It's just the same old ideological ignorance as it always is with this family.

P.S.- Josh may want to consider some classes to correct his awful grammar.

londonbridges said...

Josh is hardly unique for what he's doing, and I agree totally. However, it is the content which doesn't represent Christ-like beliefs. JMHO.

Sixpence never the richer said...

The Duggars and their like seem to prefer that the father have his own business. I guess this is one more part of how they try to be separate from the rest.

Josh seems to believe that he is all that and a bag of chips despite the fact that other "worldly" men work twice as hard as he does. Josh does hardly any work from what I've seen. How in the world will the Duggar kids contribute to society when they are so poorly educated IMO?

SmokeyKitty said...

To Jasmine,
It is perfectly fair to compare interracial and gay marriage. The former was outlawed by bigots who felt that non-whites were not worthy of full rights and personhood. The latter are persecuted by those very same individuals.

If you have experienced bigotry then shouldn't you hesistate to inflict it on something else? What the Duggars and folks like them don't understand is that bigotry is not Christian. The Bible says a lot of things, but no one follows every single commandment (there are 613 of them in addition to the original 10). When you eat pork or shellfish you are committing a bigger sin then when two gay people engage in "relations".
But no one is taking the your right away to eat shrimp b/c the Bible says so. Even having your photo taken or wearing wool with linen is prohibited...

The issue I have with the Duggars, Santorum and the rest is that they can't just stop at setting rules for themselves. They feel that they need to force others to behave as they do or as they say we should. THere is no tolerance for diversity of lifestyle, or character. Just because someone has a different kind of life doesn't make them strange, or dangerous... It just makes them different, and differences are interesting.

Alberta Rose said...

Some have commented on the Duggars' stance on race, that they have been to African American churches and homes on the show. But I always found those things all staged, by TLC perhaps.

The family can't win. If they don't associate with black people, they must be racist. If they do associate with black people, it's staged. People are going to believe what they want to believe. Some people think I'm a feminist because I believe women should have the freedom to choose where they give birth, and who the attendant is. Other people think I'm a traditionalist because I believe women should have the freedom to choose where they give birth and with whom.

I guess that's one thing I really admire about Anna Duggar. She doesn't care what people think, she's going to live life on her terms, which means helping her husband with her job, birthing babies at home and being a Christian Fundamentalist because that's how she was raised. I don't think that's any worse then a woman who chooses to have her own job to ensure she is financially independent of her husband, birth one baby in a hospital and being someone who believes in God because that's how she was raised. Both women have been raised a certain way. Let's treat both women with respect, even if we don't agree with their choices.

A few people have questioned why the Duggar men wear suits when it is normal to dress down in the campaign trail.

Do the Duggars have smart casual clothes? We see them at home in thrifty store scruffies and we see them out performing in suits. Perhaps they don't own anything half way as they have never needed it.

Alysa said...

You know what i'd like to see? One of the Duggars joining Sea Shepherd Conservation Society...

buckeyegirl said...

The suit thing is a typical fundamentalist thing. It was like that in the church group I grew up in. It's supposed to give off some professional, serious, and "mature and wise" air. Which it doesn't, but they think it does. Trying to look all business-like and respectful.

I've seen Duggars wear other things, but they would consider those types of clothes too casual for this purpose, even if the actual candidates wear them (which, of course, is also for a contrived purpose, regardless of party).

How can you even think to compare that. TLC, please teach Josh what really happened. I don`t think he knows the truth at all.

Given the number of groups that do say that, and the number of decades that truth has been uttered, and given that TLC in addition to 19 Kids & Counting has shows like "A Baby Story", "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant", throw in "Little People, Big World" which features a couple who decided to have two more children after giving birth to twin boys, one little, one average sized, "The Little Couple" who are planning to have a baby by surragocy, "A Conception Story" which traces 6 couples attempting to have a baby, TLC isn't going to chastise Josh Duggar for uttering popular lines in the pro-life circle.

Which large religious family are you referring to? Neither my son nor I have ever heard the Duggar family tell us who to hate. If anything, they're one of the reasons why he doesn't gawk at the Muslims in his school and why he thinks it's normal to reach out to poor people instead of turning your back on them. My brother and sister-in-law are raising their kids differently then us but thanks to how the Duggar kids treat Cousin Amy, my son treats his cousins with the same respect.

TLC has not been The Learning Channel -by company choice- for a LONG time. It's a fact you can easily verify with a quick search online. Anyone who acts 'shocked' that this entertainment company would not give a complete account of all sides of an issue shouldn't be. And as foolish as the programming choices TLC makes might seem to some of us, I'm quite sure they will not be dumb enough to violate any laws regarding champaign coverage/equal airtime. Either this time period isn't going to be shown on air, or they will edit appropriately.

The Duggars have made it clear they aren't fond of Mormons,Catholics, gay ppl (per Jim Bob's Scout remarks),Democrats, working mothers (per Michelle in the letter to Jubilee) and even handicapped ppl (per Josh on intagram).Josh even continuously posts pics of the Confederate flag, even though it was banned from schools here long ago for being considered offensive.
As for poor ppl,I havent seen the Duggars do anything for them here in the USA.As for cousin Amy,they said they liked her, even though she was 'not like us',as one of the kids put it.Which I take to mean they 'tolerate' her, which seems rather condescending,IMO.

Vera said...

I have never seen anything to indicate that the Duggars are accepting of anyone who isn't like them. I do not mistake their arrogant tolerance for acceptance.

Paraphrased - most people consider children a burden and debt a gift but we consider debt a burden and children a gift.

It truly doesn't get more arrogant, self-serving, self-aggrandizing and decidedly unChristlike than that.
