Happy February, everyone!

Show update: my guide (Comcast) goes through the 12th and there's no hide nor hair of the Duggars' show to be seen (save the daily (weekday) reruns in the 7-8am timeslot).

TLC has always used a couple episodes to lead them into Sweeps, so it looks like they're on the shelf until sometime in April, if at all.

Who knows, Josh's exuberant use of social media may well have imploded the show altogether.

Josh Duggar named one of 2011's Worst Reality personalities.

http://tv.yahoo.com/slideshow/812/photos/1

"Josh Duggar ("19 Kids and Counting"): He made his wife, who was eight months pregnant, go on a Duggar cross-country book tour in a bus. If that weren't bad enough, he also got bored during her lengthy -- and painful -- labor at home and decided to take a nap while his mother and sisters stayed up to deliver Anna's baby on a toilet."

Dear Yahoo, that's the tip of the iceberg.

Jen said...

Yahoo! got it right...but just think of the all the immaturity and ignorance that goes on when the cameras are OFF.

The world is sick of the Duggars. Campaigning for Santorum put the nail in the coffin, IMO. Looks like, if ANYTHING, a very negative effect. I was reading on another board that the decision to vote Mitt by some was the direct result of the Duggars and their holier than thou stance.

That leaves me wondering...if the TLC money disappears, do you think there is any fund set aside for all the 'blessings' that made the show possible?

Sixpence never the richer said...

Wait, does this mean that the Duggars may have already gotten the ax? Oh man, I don't want to get my hopes up but think they have.

Elvira said...

Sean normally posts about his trips (to film the Duggars) and some hints about things on Facebook. It is notably quiet.

ennvee said...

The last thing I recall TLC filming was the fiasco surrounding "Jubilee." They were present when she had the ultrasound that confirmed the fetus had died (remember, it was supposed to confirm gender). I believe they also taped the funeral.

The pictures, whether real or fake, from that service were enough for me. If that stuff ever airs, I'm done with TLC (yes, even Clinton and Stacy) for good.

No mention has been made of anyone seeing TLC at any of the Santorum stump speeches last month, even the ones Michelle flew in for (over weekends).

Don't forget, if you're in DC next weekend, go see Michelle (and her green shirt) speak at the CPAC convention with a cast of characters that make Romney (who will also be there with the other three remaining candidates) look like Al Sharpton, politically.

Sixpence never the richer said...

I don't know if this is the case but could it be that all of the footage that was shot before Jubilee's death has been done away with? Maybe they are re-shooting and that is why there's been no new episodes? I really hope the show is done.

Sharla said...

I've rejected a few comments because they were too political. Please try to refrain from comments about the candidates and their opinions and political positions. Comments about what the Duggars do and say are allowed. It's a judgement call sometimes.

ennvee said...

Just read an article that covered the Duggars' speech in Santorum's stead this past Sunday.

Most of it was repetitive, but it did mention I that the Duggars DONATED their bus to the campaign.

Way to get a new tax deduction, Jim Bob. I still wonder if the bus, or any Duggars, will go west this week given they are states Santorum can't expect to be competitive in.

TLC or not,I just hope Anna gets to give birth in peace next time.I think the birthing pool would be a good choice, and I hope she doesn't have to wear her clothes in again! Seems she wanted to give birth in the pool, and it didn't work out.Perhaps with some peace and no cameras, she will be able to do that next time.JMO.

"...see Michelle (and her green shirt)..."

*********************************

Due to the depth, breadth, and intensity of Duggar weirdness, it's hard for me to determine if Michelle's green shirt is just a brand-dictated costume, or is the woman totally unable to envision herself as anything but a brood mare?

Perhaps both are true.

It's unusual for a woman to want to wear pregnancy-looking clothing 24/7X365 even when not preggers.

The Duggars bring new dimension to weird.

Oh, and gotta love the whole "VALUES voters" concept, as if anyone outside the Duggar-level of religious extremism are valueless and completely devoid of meaningful moral compass.

I always encouraged my young girls to watch TLC and they had been watching the Duggars for a while...until Anna gave birth in the toilet while her husband napped.
I was appalled (at the napping, not the toilet). The disrespect for women is outrageously encouraged by the family and TLC, for that matter.
That boy, Josh, has a world of growing up to do...Anna's family must be so disappointed.
His parents should have seen that episode and been appalled at his behavior...but something tells me that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
What decade do you think it was that Jim Bob got up to one of his crying children?
The longer this show is on the more cracks we are seeing in their so called "perfect" family.
Huh...just like the rest of us...

heavennnoseven said...

I don`t think Anna is pregnant. I think Josh always picks where they eat. I don`t think Anna can find much low fat stuff at the places he goes.

I don`t get them go on the road for months for someone who might not even make it to the final race. They could be using this time and money so much better.

Just saw Josh's latest post on his Webstagram account, and there's a picture of him playing tennis, and GASP!!! . . .

He's wearing pants that show his ANKLES!!!

no1 said...

I just couldn't stop myself from looking at Josh playing tennis. He stated he was playing with his buddy Sean. Who's Sean? Isn't Sean the name of the TLC producer?

Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Sixpence never the richer said...

I wonder why TLC has been so quiet lately. If they cancelled the show then why not just come out and say so? I'm afraid that they will either film a whole new set of episodes or show us all of the Jubilee footage.

Anonymous said...

The picture of tennis playing on Josh's instagram account is not of Josh. Josh took the picture and is behind the lens ...

Insomniac Mom said...

Am I the only one that is bothered by the fact that every time I see the Duggars eating that crap they serve, it is on paper plates and plastic cups? How wasteful! I realize that doing the dishes would be a full time position in that household that would certainly be one of the girls jobs, but how about teaching your herd of children some environmental responsibility. Oh wait, I'm sorry. I forgot that Jim Bob feels that such things as overpopulation is a myth.

londonbridges said...

When was the last time we saw Michelle take care of her blessings? I think JimBob at least makes an attempt at times to comfort, hold and help one of the little ones. However, neither of them deserves Parents of the Year honours, IMHO.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Yes, Josh's tennis playing buddy is Sean the producer. TLC is likely filming Anna's sister's wedding this weekend in Florida. Why do they think we would care to see this? I was underimpressed with the imitation crab salad sandwiches at a reception with no music or dancing the first time around (Anna and Josh's wedding).

Devil's Advocate said...

In now way do I want to defend TLC, but have a thought about why it's been quiet on their front. Maybe it's because they have no intention of giving equal airtime to the other candidates. Until Mr. Santorum's time on the election trail is done, what else would there be to tape that can air now?

I'm betting that if the show isn't already cancelled, Sean/TLC is waiting to pull the plug based upon how long Mr. Santorum stays in the race and/or to see if there is another wedding to film in the near future (holding out for a daughter?).

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Re: the plastic cups and paper(and styrofoam) plates...I remember an episode (I think from Anna and Josh's honeymoon?) where Josh is talking about the dinner he is eating from china plates, and he seems almost angry about eating from them. (He says some kind of nonsense like "This is too fancy for us".)

Andrea said...

To Insomniac Mom: Evangelical Christian believed that the more resources are used up the quicker the world will imploded causing the seconding coming of Christ. I'm really not joking. This is really what they think. It’s so creepy and wrong. I know Anna has mentioned that she thinking driving the Hummer is wrong, but that’s just spin. Come on, if you think it’s so wrong, (and anyone with half a brain knows a a hummer uses a gallons of gas) send it back to the car dealership and don’t ever drive it.

Matt said...

I don't know where you got that, but I've never heard any churches that teach that using up the worlds resources will harken the second coming of Christ. And i've been attending church since I was a baby and been involved with many baptist churches all over the country and never once heard anything like that.

The second coming is not contingant on what man does or doesn't do.

tulip said...

I don't remember them always using the styrofoam and paper stuff...back in the first specials I think they had real or tupperware plates with a name written on each, and cups too were like tupperware with a masking tape label and name written on it. I remember one of the older girls feeding a baby vegetables right from a can. Well, that changed as soon as they moved in to the house they all "built themselves" (or shall we say "started"), whereas actually TLC swooped in, footed the bill for everything, designer decorating and furnishing the whole place to boot.

Beth said...

I've gone to church all my life, and not always the same one or even the same denomination. Depending on where I lived, I have attended Methodist, Church of Christ, Presbyterian for youth activities, Baptist for years and years and now a Grace Brethren. And in all of them you could find women cutting their hair, wearing pants or skirts shorter than ankle length, etc. In other words, I don't come from a totally sheltered and strict background.

I have been married twice, and both my weddings were Sunday afternoon in the church with a reception following there. No music, no dancing (no imitation crab, either, just wedding cake and ice cream and punch and coffee) because that was what I WANTED. Weddings were simpler then, to be sure, but I have attended three weddings in our church this past year and they were all the same--a dessert reception, no music, no dancing. And everyone had a wonderful time. Nothing wrong with that kind of reception IF that's what you want, but there are a lot of us who really don't want. The simple party was much sweeter.

Matt said...

Nothing wrong with a wedding without music/dancing if that's what you want. Besides ive been to weddings where the music is so loud you can't have a conversation with the person sitting next to you.

==================================

Well, A crew (Sean's? or the second crew with Frank Sun, etc.) hightailed it to TN to film Kelly Bates giving birth sometime yesterday (2/1). I don't know who cares to see that either.

But with Duggar narratives becoming mind-numbingly repetitive, I guess filming Priscilla Keller's wedding and/or Kelly Bates having her game tying 19th kid are the only way this show is going to survive right now since they sacrificed a month of story lines to film, since they chose to follow Santorum around (which could only be filmed in the context of the family, not the politics).

Heck, Priscilla's wedding will be live-streamed on Saturday, so why bother watching it on an episode of a show that's not even theirs? I didn't care about Kelly giving birth on the show the first time she did it; nothing different now except we know she had to cheat (progesterone to 26 weeks, by her own admission) to tie Michelle.

Vera said...

Here's an idea...

Put all the Gothardites on their own personal desert island...far, far away from the rest of us. Then, using hidden cameras, film them as they try to make it without anything that goes against their belief system. For example, no medical professionals because that requires a level of education which they do not encourage. No modern conveniences because those were all invented by creative thinkers, usually well educated creative thinkers.

I think it would be really interesting to see how well they function in a world that lives totally by their rules...not very well I would think. I wonder if hypocrisy is one of the character traits covered at the Academy of the Dining Room Table...hmmm.

Allison said...

The show is NOT cancelled. The new season has just been announced. It starts Feb. 14 at 9pm and it looks like it's an hour long episode. But there is no description yet on the TLC website.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

I think it's pretty clear that the hour long season premiere will be the ultrasound appointment/ miscarriage/ funeral for Jubilee. These people are shameless. The only thing that will be interesting to me will be the title of the show. Will it be "20 Kids..." or "21 Kids...."? (Meanwhile using those standards, the Bateses are in the lead in the baby sweepstakes.)

ennvee said...

That's a brand new development, since my guide is still showing "Sorority Girls" in that time slot.

If this is indeed the case, I'm going for a Jubilee Valentine's Day VSE, since it's listed as a 60 minute episode. It makes perfect sense...for them.

no1 said...

Brilliant idea for a new "reality" TV show. This, I would watch with relish!

tulip said...

I think you're right... what a "special" episode to lure in as many viewers as possible for a season premier... Tribute to Jubilee on Valentine's Day. If this is how it plays out, I think people will be more up in arms then The Duggars realize. Even if not intended, it will definitely look like "anything for ratings".

ennvee said...

Kind of a crossover with Kelly Bates, but this leans more toward the show, so I'll put it here...

Kelly Bates' sister post on "Fan Page of the Duggar Family" FB page:

Kim Callaham Adkins
"I'm so excited for them. Kelly and baby are doing great, as soon as I know more info, I will pass it along. it kind of crazy at the Bate's [sic] house right now, not only did she just give birth, but the film crew was already there filming for some future events on tlc. Thanks to everyone for all the prayers, every prayer is appreciated."

Sounds like they're prepping for Zach's official engagement, which hasn't been announced (and they publicly announce EVERYTHING these days).

Given my theory of the Duggars show needing to branch out to new storylines, this dovetails in perfectly.

Supposedly, Priscilla Keller's wedding is going to be streaming on their website, starting at 12:30 Central. I am going to check it out and see a little bit of it. I think it is pretty cool that they are doing that. She seems like a sweet person and I think McKynzie (spelling) looks a lot like her.

ennvee said...

It's official: Anna's sister's wedding will be featured on a future episode. They just trotted out the dog and pony show for pre-wedding songs and screeching violins. Now they're singing a fundified version of the song "Eidelweiss" from the Sound of Music.

One of them (Jana, I think) is a bridesmaid; she's wearing a scarlet satin gown. Jenny and Jordyn also in red; probably flower girls since neither family has young girls to step in.

imaamy said...

The wedding will be streaming on whose website? I checked Duggars and Josh and Anna, but couldn't find a website for Keller family. TIA.

Jim Bob and Michelle were onstage (with GOTHARD) for some ceremony of the "elders." Which is odd because they are not related to the bride.

I doubt Gothard will allow himself to be shown on the show; too many people who think the Duggars are merely good Christians setting an example for them might find out what the Duggars are REALLY involved in.

Anna was maid of honor; Jana a bridesmaid and Joy carried Josie down the aisle as a flower girl (was wondering why Joy was in bridal colors during their pre-wedding screeching that I mentioned in my last post).

At least groom didn't devour Pris with the first kiss unlike his new brother-in-law Josh with poor Anna.

Matt said...

Heavennoseven, you bring up a good point.

Or even an injury or illness where the husband is no longer able to work.

We live in an uncertain world, where tomorrow is promised to no one. Which is why it's important for these girls to get some kind of education (outside of the dining room table), in case something happens.

ennvee said...

They streamed the wedding from davidandpriscilla.com (first tab), but I think we'll have to wait for the videographer to post it permanently to watch it again (I missed a lot of it myself...cat had to go to the vet).

What was interesting is that he shot the wedding from a balcony, but you could see the TLC cameras moving around on their knees up front. Looked like Scott Enlow (first crew).

Oh, did I mention Bates girls were there as well? Erin played, Tori and Alyssa sang. It would have been nice to get THIS together for the Valentine's Day opener rather than what we're actually going to get.

ennvee said...

Forgot to mention, in typical Duggar famewhore style, Jim Bob got up and made a speech to the couple (WHY?). And if that wasn't bad enough, as the bridesmaids and groomsmen exited, Josh planted a big, wet one on Anna (crowd laughs). He's wearing sunglasses.

Way to upstage his sister in law's day, which included that all-important first kiss (which was, of course, rhapsodized to the skies).

Apologies for the multiple posts, but these little things keep popping up after I hit enter. I'm still reeling from Gothard's presence and speech, but the groom's family lives a stone's throw from Gothard HQ and are pretty much "royalty" within the movement.

I have been saying this for a long time. It can happen or they would need two jobs to support the family. Michelle is still working a job if you count the show. She worked with Jim Bob a lot after she had the first few kids.

Today, if a woman has a higher paying Job. The husband may quit his job to stay at home with the kids to save in costs of child care.

Based on discussions I have had with two ex-fundamental/evangelical bloggers, I understand that women must always be under the authority of a men. (Father then husband.) If the husband dies, the lady returns to her fathers authority, marries again or depending comes under the authority of her eldest son. I would imagine that how this actual works out, especially financially, would depend on the individual family.

The Duggars would probably just move the daughter and any children back home. Despite all our criticism of him, Jim Bob is obviously very attached to his daughters and I think he would be very quick to provide help if they needed it.

A more interesting question would be; what would happen to a daughter-in-law if a Duggar son died? Would Anna try to make it alone, move back to Florida with her family, continue to live in the Duggar rental supported by Jim Bob or would she move into the Duggar compound?

In this day and age, it is nothing short of tragic that women tolerate this archaic and personal-potential-killing mentality.

It is impossible for me to believe these women, including the Duggars, are dumb enough to believe this male domination is god-driven.

The men in Duggar World have the cards so stacked in their favor. It saddens me to know there are women who tolerate this treatment of our gender.

I can't imagine what I'd feel if any of my kids wanted to marry into a Duggar-like cult. It would be one of my worst nightmares.

Credit where it's due. I brought you the suave musical stylings of the Duggar Chorale and Orchestra. Apologies for all the bleeding ears, but they had to appear so TLC could have something for them to film.

Enlow did not film Gothard (rats), but for some reason Jim Bob and Michelle are amongst "elder" couples blessing the bride and groom. Michelle looks like a garden gnome amongst redwoods; she really needs to get a bone scan done to confirm obvious osteoperosis that no amount of string cheese can cure now.

So here's my question; why the heck were all the Duggars at Priscilla & David's wedding and even more puzzling why did they seem the star entertainment? The families have never seemed close, in fact I've gotten the feeling of disdain from Josh in regards to his in-laws. Just seems like another instance of the Duggars butting in to make a buck without concern for others. JOY, my foot with these folks.

For The Duggars, the show must go on. They have nothing left to film about themselves, so they have to use other's life events to keep the gravy train moving right along. Same reason Kelly Bates' birth was filmed. I'm sure there will be a wedding announcement for Zach & Sarah caught on camera, as well as TLC filming the actual wedding. However, I wouldn't mind seeing it...I think The Bates are more entertaining and true to life than The Duggars ever were.

That's some serious coin from several events that TLC really can't tape.

Elvira said...

Those are the admission fees which will be used to cover rental of the facility, materials, possibly speaker fees, and other expenses. The Duggars may or not make any money from those appearances.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

I think it's very doubtful the Duggars are going to gas up the bus (@ $500 a pop, with each trip costing multiple pops) for free. If they aren't charging a speaking fee up front, you know for sure they'll be selling and signing books (and who knows what else) and taking any "love offerings" that come their way.

Vera said...

I truly believe that part of the reason for the Duggars obviously not encouraging their blessings to better themselves is that if said blessings should do this, it won't take them long to: 1. have an independent thought 2. realize that everyone else in the world is not as corrupt as they have been taught and most importantly 3. realize how mind-boggling ignorant their parents truly are.

Vera said...

"The 'Right' View?" Seriously? It would be refreshing if the "right view" were actually their own instead of Gothard's but I guess that is asking too much. Well, Michelle will have a great opportunity to remind the attendees how super blessed by God and how their (Gothard's) way is the only way and everyone else is a heathen riding the express train to he**. Oh and maybe, just maybe she'll reprise her letter to Jubilee...driving home the point that only THEY truly see children as a blessing.

I still think all the Gothardites should be rounded up and forced to live strictly by their beliefs.

Here's proof of the saying that, "God protects fools and little children."

Josh's latest posts are of his drive back from Florida, and he is SO OBVIOUSLY texting while driving (which I believe is against the law in a whole lot of states right now).

Anyway - somebody called him to task on it and pointed out that a "road photo" wasn't worth the risk, and his loyal followers just came up in arms!

I guess safety, the law, and common sense just don't apply if you're a Duggar.

I'm sure for most of these events they either get their travel paid for or they get a certain amount for speaking. $275 for a retreat isn't that much considering it's probably for two people (a couple) and includes food. Camps are always expensive to rent out for retreats. The amount the Duggars make for speaking at these events is probably a very small amount of the money the camp collects.

Add me to the list of people who is expecting a pregnancy announcement from Anna in the near future. What makes me think she is pregnant is the way she looks around her middle. I don't think it is just bloating from all the fast food because in some of the pictures she looks like she has lost alot of weight in her face and her cheekbones look more defined than they have in the past.
Also, I believe it was Rebekah who is missing from the family picture although I'm not sure why as she was at the wedding.

The Keller women appear to be very apple-shaped, ie. thick around the middle with no real waist or hips, even when thin; they carry their extra weight around their mid-sections. If you look at Suze and Rebekah, they are both rail thin, as was Anna before she married.

I think it's just one of those deals where she isn't exercising and that's the last place where her weight comes off.

If there's a baby annoucement edited into one of the shows during Feb. Sweeps, everyone here can throw rotten tomatoes at me. :D

And now for something completely different....Jessa and Jinger's instagram accounts (which were private in the first place) appear to have been deleted. I guess Jim Bob decided they were having too much fun. Can't have that, can we? Apparently, social networking, even privately amongst like-minded people, is too much for unmarried daughters, no matter that they are legal adults.

Exhibit 999,000,000 of the insidious nature of Jim Bob and Gothard who make sure women are duly oppressed.

One of Josh's photos is of the dashboard. Does anyone really believe he managed to take this while someone else was driving? Even if they were, sticking a phone between the driver & the dash to take a photo has got to be just as dangerous as texting while driving.

Josh needs learn some smarts about posting online. The pictures can lead to fine(handicapped spot, taking pictures of random people or posting pictures copyrighted things).

I like his picture of him at "work" to shut up the critics. Someone asked for a car on his website. I wonder if it was a real person or a set up.

I was just reading an article about an extremely conservative Jewish sect in Israel. Apparently several girls were beaten, scorned, and some even murdered due to "immodesty" of dress, such as short sleeves. Naturally, the article went on to compare this group to extreme Christian groups and their requirements for female dress (a-hem). The gist of it was that these groups believe that a man cannot be held responsible for his lust of a woman and subsequently, the women are held accountable to control a man's lust through modest dress and the like. So, that got me to thinking...if a man is so uncontrollable, why is he in charge in these groups? It seems to me that many of the men who extol these "virtues" must be weak minded and have a need to control women in order to hide their inadequacies. Sound familiar? What a contradictory set of logic the Duggars have.

My hope is that someday the kids will get out (even Josh)and realize that the world is full of diverse and wonderful people and that not everyone is controlled by "lust." I personally find such a notion to be very immature after a certain point, but let's remember that the Duggars are followers of Bill Gothard, who is a single man. I wonder if he has any skeletons in his closet, other than the millions he is making off of his sect. I would love to see an expose on him with the Duggar connection included.

I've always found it weird that the girls in these families have to be covered up, even in the presence of their brothers. And if just the family is going swimming, why must all of them (even the boys) wear modest swimwear? is lust considered a factor, even within the family? that is just plain strange and shows you where the adult mindsets are in these families..I doubt the kids would even think such a thing.JMO.

Here's an article from People about the Bates' family. It talks a little about the new baby and how the Bates' compare to the Duggars and confirms that the Bates' will have their own 1 hour special on TLC on March 27th after the season finale of 19 Kids and Counting. Sounds like another short season again...only a litle longer than a month.

I find it counterintuitive that the Duggars purport to be so pure and modest but are so obviously fixated on s3x. It just borders on insane that they are so much more obsessed with it than the rest of us...who are seemingly lurking around every corner just waiting to corrupt the Duggars' innocent blessings. Seems to me, they are much more likely to be corrupted at home...or at the very least, grossed out.

I wonder what would happen if any of the Duggars were to go on missions (or even vacations) to New Guinea or the Cook Islands or any number of places where women are regularly bare-breasted.

I knew a man who had served in New Guinea and he commented that after several months there, he stopped seeing the breast as a sexual body part and began to see it as merely a functional body part, similar to a knee or an elbow. It has a purpose, it does its job, end of story.

Would the Duggars be "defrauded" by such a sight? Or would they change their mindset as my friend did? We'll likely never know, but it's entertaining to speculate.

I agree! I think they doth protest too mucch. Whenever anyone makes THIS huge of a deal about a normal part of the human experience known as sex, it is a red flag.

I believe Gothard is beyond strange, as are the Duggars. Not a one of them in the pink of mental health, IMO.

Ah, the explanation of why TLC has been with the Bateses...they're getting a one-hour special that's going to air after the Duggar season finale on 3/27. So the new Duggar season is only 6 weeks? I knew they were short on footage, but that's nothing. Maybe it's a sign they are actually being phased out.

I have a feeling the Duggars are on their way out, which is why Josh hasn't censored what he says on any of his social media accounts. (like he would have the smarts to do that anyway) They must be looking to "President Santorum" (*giggle*) for their new jobs.

SO sad that the oldest Duggars (and Bates) kids go along with still being a part of the whole charade. At late teen/early 20's, it's tragic they have nothing better going on in their lives than playing their parents' Show Ponies for TLC (and Jesus).

What is the route cause of the "Today" show's fixation with the Duggars? How can "Today" producers not recognize how unlikeable the Duggars are to a sizeable section of viewers?

Today always has guests from TLC. Even as awful as Kate Gosselin was, she was on there until the show ended.

Duggar/Bates news from Gothardland:

from the ATI Regional Conferences pamphlet:
http://ati.iblp.org/ati/events/regional ... ?show=true

Experiencing the Power of Faith
With nineteen children and no fixed income for many years, Gil Bates has experienced the supernatural provision of God by applying five essential character qualities. [ie. Gothard Legalism...can't succeed" by just trusting God, I guess]. The Bates [sic] continue to be a testimony to the world through their new show [that's news to...everyone who thinks they just have the one-off special], similar to the Duggars’.
You will be encouraged by this family’s excitement about
a living God. (Speaking live in Big Sandy and Nashville!)

Vital Questions Girls Ask
Because of the international attention that is being given to the Duggar family, the four oldest daughters receive thousands of questions from girls who have serious problems and want practical answers. Jana, Jill, Jessa, [sic...no comma needed here] and Jinger will select key questions and give precise Biblical principles.

It doesn't give dates for Duggar girls so they may be going to all sessions: Big Sandy Apr 24-27, Nashville May 29 - Jun 1, Sacramento Jun 26 - 29, Indianapolis Jul 29 - Aug 3.

It doesn't give dates for the Duggar girls, but like the Bateses, they usually only attend the Big Sandy and Nashville conferences.

And for funsies, Jana Duggar's poorly written thoughts on God: http://www.livingthejourney.com/2012/01/26/all-things/

SOTDRT and College Minus strike again. Build your thesis into the essay, sweetie. If this is the type of advice the girls will be parceling out, I'd pass, but there are so many people who are still starstruck by the Duggars, believing they can do no wrong. For the life of me, I can never fathom that.

Vera said...

I read Jana's thoughts on God and wondered why she capitalizes "Father" in relation to her "Father" Jim Bob Duggar but does not capitalize "mom" in relation to her "mom" Michelle Duggar? How creepy!

I was able to watch the CPAC mess live and man, was she a fish out of water.

IN THAT SAME BLUE SHIRT! (Just opened like she had it on the TODAY Show when they announced J20's pending arrival last fall).

I was surprised that it looked like she had to do her own hair. Comparing CPAC to today's appearance on the TODAY Show really showed the difference between what she can do and what a pro can do (it looked far more crunchy, but more "naturally" wavy, not so "piecey" on the TODAY appearance. The makeup also looked far less harsh than at CPAC. All I could focus on whenever the camera was on her (which, thankfully, wasn't often since that Star lady pretty much dominated the conversation), was the mole next to her mouth.

All these years, and I never noticed it until last week! And it's been there the entire time! I saw an older pic of her over the weekend and BOOM! that mole thing was the first thing I saw. I guess I've been so busy focusing on that rat's nest on top of her head that I've missed her countenance.

Isn't that counter-intuitive to Gothard doctrine? Her mullet has unwittingly become my idol! ;)

Are we sure Anna isn't pregnant with baby #3?

I don't like to jump on the speculation bus but I came across this and thought "Okay..." Question is, why haven't they announced this one yet, if she is indeed pregnant? Is it out of respect for Jim Bob and Michelle or so that Josh and Anna don't steal the Jubilee thunder? I don't know but this seems mighty strange that it wasn't even mumbled on this week's Today Show appearance.

Penny said...

Must say, I agree how insensitive Josh is. The picture of Anna and her valentine gifts are at his parent house with one of his sisters in the backgound. Why did he have to take the gifts there to flaunt in his sisters faces who have no valentine. They babysat his two children when they went on their date. Did he bring them anything or pay them for babysiting. Maybe the cookies were for everyone.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

There is a picture of Anna and Josh (and another girl) on one of Josh's social media accounts where it's almost undeniable that Anna is pregnant. If she isn't, she's got a bigger food baby than Josh, but I really don't think that's the case.

I imagine they will reveal this as a happy ending in the episode with Michelle's miscarriage. (Gotta keep the viewers happy, yaknow.)

Is it just me, or does the name "Jubilee" connote a Civil War era slave...or freed slave?

NanaJen said...

Why must Michelle when announcing a pregnancy act as if she is surprised by it? It's rediculous, fake, and very disturbing in my opion. On the most recent Today Show interview the Today Show replayed Michelle's announcement of her last pergnancy with the entire family present. Michelle in her syrupy voice presents her pregnancy as if they weren't even trying to get pregnant...that this unforseen magical event took place. Come on. Everytime I see her on camera she concerns me...and for more than this reason but it's all been stated before on this very blog. Ugh.

barnaby said...

"Is it just me, or does the name "Jubilee" connote a Civil War era slave...or freed slave?"

The usage I've always know is for a 50th Wedding celebration. There also lesser meanings, but generally jubilee and 50 are connected. Otherwise the Duggars are "celebrating" (another lesser preferred definition, the death of a fetus.

Considering how bizarre the Duggars' are, sadly, that's probably what they are thinking.

I often wonder, if years from now, we'll see an elderly Jim Bob being wheeled around on an office chair by his children? Or, maybe Michelle, going around to each child's home, folding mountains of laundry for her 200 grandchildren?

Elverna Bradshaw said...

The list of "godly qualities for wives" Michelle had on the last show has taken off on various websites. Radaronline, Dlisted and many other sites are linking straight to Gothard's list of wifely duties. Frankly I'm really happy about this because it's helping to expose just how extreme this family is.

ennvee said...

I can't link them, but I saw some pics from Jim Bob and Michelle's latest Big Apple Adventure. Valentine's "dinner" at Mickey D's, Times Square, then a Broadway Show.

Godspell! I saw a pic of them with the cast and wonder when it hit them that this wasn't the typical Passion Play that they're used to.

On a positive note, Michelle wore something resembling a blazer. Why on earth doesn't she wear that thing to her speaking engagements? She'd look a thousand times more professional and might even gain some credibility, not noteriety.

I know this has been said before but...

Isn't is strange that the kids don't fight. I'm not talking about knock down drag outs but the "He's looking at me" and "She touched me"
Complaining about having to sit the younger kids.

I know the kids are suppose to be "sweet" but that is part of having siblings.

Will they be kicked out of Gothard if the kids argue.

No it's not. I've seen other families like that. I heard "Why can't you be/why can't you two be like" so many times growing up, after awhile I started tuning it out. Now that I'm a mother, I notice that siblings who get along well seem to be more accepting of my son then those that tend to do all that "He looked at me" "She breathed on me" stuff. Maybe it's nuture vs nature?

I am a TLC viewer of other shows, the Duggars sometimes. I'm really tired of seeing the promos for this coming week's show with Michelle talking about what stage she is in her pregnancy when everyone knows she miscarried several months ago. It is just so tacky. TLC sure is milking it for all it's worth. Also, the stills of Jim Bob and Michelle, with Jim Bob tilting Michelle back and kissing her, are unnecessary. Guys (Michelle, Jim Bob and TLC) we get it already.

step said...

I think it is headed that direction. Especially the last Q&A episode when they asked the question then cut from Jimbob, Michelle, and Jill and Jinger answering the same questions word for word just to show the obvious brainwashing. Also, production questioning Jimbob about how Duggar time is now happening to him with his own family. His family is disrespecting him by taking 20 to thirty minutes for a family meeting. That was production asking him about Jimbob getting a taste of his own medicine. Tonight production showed the dying child look less than excited about Michelles phone call and even less excited about a 2 hour drive. To bad Justin Bieber wasn't available to give that girl the thrill of her short life. He probably would have went to her home.
Q&A episodes, they thought they were so cute talking about the Beatles gag.
Ask the adult girls if they know who Rob Pattinson or Taylor Lautner is?
Ask JoyAnna if she knows who Justin Bieber is.
Ask John David if he knows who Angelina Jolie is.
How out of touch are they with pop culture?
There is the old saying of being in the world but not of the world.

Was just looking at instagram and Josh posted a pic of an empty restaurant saying it was a late dinner and they had the place all to themselves. Someone asked, "Do you ever eat at home?" and another asked, "What is the secret to not gaining weight when you eat out so much?" Was looking at their wedding pics and Anna was so much thinner. Try not to look at Josh that much:)
