Wow, this pic with Jim Bob really puts Josh's size into perspective. I seriously didn't even recognize him at first, thinking the pic was Jim Bob and Jinger with a local politician. Looked again and did a double (chinned) take. Yikes! http://manateepolitics.blogspot.com/2012/01/duggar-family-of-tv-fame-stumping-with.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Josh must have to lie down on the bed to get those pants zipped. The button is liable to fly off any moment and put someone's eye out. He's definitely 250 and counting (and that's being generous).

Meanwhile, don't camera lenses like that cost close to $1000?

Kendall said...

Why is Josh Duggar at a private beach club The Floridian???

Patrice said...

The only thing that would make that picture even better would be if Josh were holding that huge camera in the same unfortunate position that Jinger is.
It pretty much would symbolize what Josh and JimBob think of themselves these days.

tulip said...

Jinger definitely has a very expensive camera. Supposedly she wants to be a professional photog "when she grows up". Unfortunately, she probably won't get any actual professional education to go along with it. But hey, it's The Duggars-who needs education?

Is it just me, or does every new photo show Josh putting on more weight and Anna putting on more black eyeliner?

Josh is so huge. Put down the tater casserole and pick up an apple. He looks like HE had two pregnancies, not Anna.

Perks of volunteering as he said on his Instagram. I have become so disillusioned with this family. The reality of their lifestyle is cultish. Since neither Jim-Bob nor Michelle were raised this way, I wonder how they could impose it on their children. Those older girls don't stand a chance in life unless they get out. Never letting them go out alone, talk with other people alone etc. is disgusting. Also, they way they encourage their children to talk about ALL their feelings to their parents is covertly brainwashing them not to act on their natural impulses. I originally thought this was such a nice family but I now see the truth behind them.

And who is running the car shop while Josh is galivanting around? It's not like he has worked 16 hour days to build it up and run it for 20 years and deserves a little vacation while his next in line assistant manager takes over.
Nothing is believable anymore with this clan.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Perks of volunteering includes staying at the Ritz Carlton and eating at private clubs?? I wonder what the little old ladies who sent a large part of their social security checks to Santorum's campaign would think about all this? (as they are choosing between buying groceries and their prescriptions with the remainder of their social security check)

Lindy said...

We all know the answer to who is running the car lot: it is never Josh. I think the whole car lot thing is more of a front to appease the public. The only issue now is that we all see that nobody is really running the car lot and I'd be surprised if it is open, aside from the times the cameras are rolling.

I also think that Josh should consider going to the gyms while at these nice hotels. I am not one to really comment on someone's weight, but he is way too young to have a weight issue and he looks so much older than his actual 23 years.

I really hope that Jinger is able to become a professional photographer. But to do so and improve on her skills, she should consider taking photography courses at a university or apprentice with a professional photographer.

Stephanie said...

Jinger's clothes once again looked absolutely ragged. Since Iowa I have stated why in the world are Jimbob, Josh, John David and the Bates boys wearing a suit and tie? The candidates themselves dress down for these town hall meetings only wearing a suit and tie for debates. Jimbob has been wearing the same dress shirt and tie for 2 months. Not that he should have more, because his daughters need decent clothes and shoes and aren't allowed to by new clothes. I guess Jana has been doing all the childcare and housework alone with grandma because I haven't seen Jana in any pictures at all. Regarding Anna, the instagram picture sitting down, she does look pregnant. The next one she has Mackenzie in a holder in front of her stomach. I wouldn't put it past Josh to have Anna living on a bus, pregnant and holding a 40 lb toddler. Makes my back hurt just looking at her. Meanwhile Joshie is hands free of Michael. Most parents, the daddy gets the heavier child, but not Joshie.

Dee said...

Lately Josh looks like he's pregnant with 19 and counting.

ennvee said...

I too wonder who is running the car lot(s). The last weekend they were home, Josh had pictures on instagram of the new place being painted. Jim Bob had just gotten the permits to operate a lot on the property around the time Michelle miscarried; this lot replaces the Tico Taco lot. By John David, of course; Josh is allergic to actual work.

I guess Josh is vying to get on The Biggest Loser once 19 Kids... has aired its final episode. He certainly has cable; he mentioned that Andy Griffith was on "TVLand" in one of his tweets. I guess Anna isn't as vigilant with controlling her husband's access to worldly portholes as Anna's sister will be with her fiancee (marrying in Florida - same place as Josh and Anna) in two weeks.

So they'll be BACK in FL then as well. I wonder if they'll be heading west to campaign in the "purple" states where they may not have such an adoring fanbase from which to draw to rallies.

ennvee said...

Regarding suits, Josh certainly needs to head to the Men's Wearhouse. If he can button his jacket, I'll eat my non-existent hat.

He makes Jim Bob look anorexic by comparison and we all know even he needs to drop 15-20 lbs.

I don't think Anna is pregnant; she never lost that pregnancy weight around her middle before she got pregnant when Mack was 9 months old. Mike is what, 7 months now? I think the women in her family are merely "apple" shaped; carrying weight around their midsections. None of the sisters are/were curvy.

Pippa said...

It is my personal opinion that the Duggars are HURTING Santorum's campaign; Josh's constant "sharing" online of his intolerance, insensitivity, and lack of intelligence, in particular. (And you KNOW where he got those opinions from.)

I used to think that I knew everything when I was in my early twenties, too - but then I grew up. I don't think that we have any hope of that for Josh. He's been too thoroughly indoctrinated already and has WAY too high an opinion of his own importance.

ennvee said...

Oh Josh, you are a moron. You slam Mitt by representing his "class" with a picture from a Coach store (likely outlet), then hours later post a picture of the Coach purse you bought for Anna. Granted it's cloth and probably under $100, but still...what happened to "buy used and save the difference?" Outlet /= Thrift Shop. Guess he sort of forgot that...

Not to mention, Ann Romney wouldn't be caught dead in a lowly Coach store. Bring on the Fendis, baby!

Hypocrite.

tulip said...

About the Coach outlet & purse...I agree! LOL! Well, Anna deserves something-maybe Josh is finally feeling guilty for dragging the family around the country in a bus and saddling Anna with all the care, while he parades around for photo ops and indulges his waistline. Oh wait, maybe that's what The Ritz is for. What's a man to do?...Just too many "perks" to choose from!

I just read over Josh's recent twitter posts. His ego and self-importance are ballooning beyond belief. His 'love of self' has escalated substantially over the past month.

My opinion is that he fancies himself a "campaign manager in training." He's dreaming of his puppet-master future.

Andrea said...

I truly believe campaigning is the surest way to end the Duggar's TV careers. Politics is just way to polarizing and not good for entertainment. Do the Duggar fans care? Maybe tea party supporters, everyone else is just waking up to the fact that this family is cracker jack full of extremists. I have not watched since late fall when it was announced that Michelle was pregnant with Jubilee. I think many, many more people have been turned off by them recently. Jim Bob is trying to become active again in the republican party so that he can successful run for some political post in the future. He must realize his tv career has hit the skids and it’s all but over. I wonder what the republican party really thinks about him?

Rainbow68 said...

Josh needs to find a jacket he can button. Better yet, he needs to lose 10 pounds. We can't eat the junk we ate when we were teenagers forever :(

rcadra2 said...

I just looked on Josh's Instagram account and saw a photo of Josh, the girls and a Bates boy playing their instruments. Only this time they aren't in a Chick Fil A, they are standing in a large parking lot, beside the bus. It looks really strange. Why hold a musical soiree in a parking lot?

And I read that Santorum hedsed home today. I had to laugh because I think he must be trying to rid himself of the Duggars.

hart&sole said...

If Josh wanted to become a campaign manager, or whatever, within the Republican Party he first needs an education, then he needs to learn tact. Just saying the same thing over and over while insulting handicapped people, SC's school system and Catholics is no way to win votes. Top that off with insulting other Republican candidates. Like Gingrich and Romney are itching to hire him now? Early on Josh must have looked in the mirror and fallen right in love.

JTN said...

If Josh wants to play at local level elections, he might be okay as a campaign manager... and by local, I mean city council in his own personal district. I actually know several campaign managers. It is hard, frentic work that usually involves around the clock dedication for months on end without any payout. I think Josh has a better chance at getting a doctorate in nuclear physics first.

Lindy said...

The old adage "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree comes to mind" when reading Josh's comments on Catholics, mentally challenged children, other Christians, and the Holocaust. He had to learn those views from someone. Given his sheltered upbringing, I think it is safe to say that we can thank Jim Bob and Michelle for raising such a specimen of narrow-mindedness.

Josh has no chance of ever going into politics as a front-runner for an office or working behind the scenes. He has no clue what real work is, how much sweat and tears are involved in running a political campaign. I used to have high hopes that Josh would "wake up" and be a positive role model for his younger siblings, but now I see that is not going to happen.

Josh is in love with himself. He's supposed to put Jesus first, but I can see that Josh puts himself first. He has a highly elevated view of himself, probably because he thinks that people "love" him enough to follow him on twitter and webstagram. He doesn't see that people are laughing at him and not with him behind his back. Does that mean that Jim Bob is similar in beliefs and puts Jim Bob first in his own house and has an over-inflated sense of his own ego? I say yes.

An article on People.com reported that Rick Santorum was headed home to be with his seriously ill daughter. The article actually says that the Duggar family is taking over the campaining for the rest of the day in Florida!! I really thought the Duggars were just tagging along and Santorum probably wasn't even aware of them!!

Elverna Bradshaw said...

No wonder the Duggars love Santorum so much: he is apparently as willing as they are to put medically fragile offspring in harm's way in order to famewhore. Santorum's daughter with trisomy 18 has been hospitalized, apparently not for the first time during the campaign. She, much like Josie, was not supposed to be out with crowds. hmm

The Equal Time rule states that tv broadcasts must provide an equivilent opportunity to any opposing political candidate who request it. (Source: Wikipedia) I can't imagine any of the candidates would request to film with the Duggars as it is a very niche audience. I wrote all of this because someone posted that the Duggar/Santorum connection can't be broadcast. The way I read this, I believe they can.

Hello to the Pillsbury Dough Boy on the left side of the photo.

To many voters, a Duggar endorsement is a surefire way to identify the LEAST qualified candidate.

Few with even half a brain want to emulate these Quiverful, Gothard parrots, muchless give their vote to the same person chosen by the incapable-of-critical-thinking-skills Duggars.

barnaby said...

Regarding the equal time discussion - (and I am no expert but have followed this issue since the early 80s) -

When Ronald Reagan was running for his first term, TV stations had to stop running reruns of the TV show he HOSTED, "Death Valley Days" because of this ruling. This had something to do with the sponsors of the show and the implication that they were funding Reagan. Reagan's movies were still allowed to be aired because there were numerous others in the cast. However, many stations chose not air his movies. This was the very early days of cable and there really weren't many stations anyway and this was light years before partisan cable stations.

The way the law works (and I am willing to be corrected), it isn't the other candidates filming with the Duggars - it's the other candidates demanding they are shown on TLC on their terms. This means that if TLC airs an episode with the Duggars on the campaign trail with a certain candidate, the eventual candidates (we are dealing with a reality many months ahead) can demand that they are shown an equal amount of time on any TLC venue of their choice.

But in reality, the point will be moot for political reasons and the fact, that as yet, there have been no TLC cameras noticed at these events.

Vera said...

It still boggles my mind that Josh made the comments about Catholicism and special needs children that he did while supposedly supporting Rick Santorum. Is he that arrogant or just that ignorant?

If the Duggars truly are taking over the campaign in Florida, I cannot wait to see how well that works out...train wreck anyone?

ennvee said...

Hearing about the health problems of little Bella just makes Joah's remarks about the "short bus" that much worse. The poor little thing now has pneumonia in both lungs for crying out loud (something that the Duggars were lucky to avoid with Josie, although she had enough health scares as it was).

Amy posted a pic of her and Josie on her instagram today; Josie looks much better, even has her own fine blonde curls growing in (instead of those ghastly fake pigtails), but still looks a little "off." Now that Joy has grown out of her baby fat, she is beginning to take after Jill.

Pics were taken at the compound. Christmas decorations can be seen on the stairway. I guess that stuff doesn't get taken down until the 3 older girls return home; Jana has too much to do since her mother doesn't do anything when she's at home and of course, as we saw after Josie was born and the older boys were home alone, that's not "boy's work."

The link to this article was submitted by "anonymous." Please use a screen name next time, thank you.

For campaign articles, I think we should copy the Duggar related parts for posting as I don't want to get into campaign issues here.

Without the candidate, the rally was turned over to surrogates, including Santorum’s most devoted supporters, the Duggar family, stars of cable television’s “19 Kids and Counting.” With their parents at home in Arkansas, two of the family’s self-possessed children took the stage.

Josh Duggar, who owns two auto dealerships, stepped smoothly into the candidate’s role, dressed smartly in a tie and dark suit. Duggar has been taking political science classes online, plans to go to law school and is thinking he might run for office.

Duggar, who set off in the family tour bus for Iowa on New Year’s Eve, has campaigned for Santorum for most of the month. On Sunday, he hit all of Santorum’s faith, family and freedom talking points much more succinctly than Santorum. And he questioned the conservatism of the front-runners in the Republican presidential primaries, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.

“Both of these men have been on opposite sides of the issues that you and I hold dear. There’s only one candidate in this race who embraces our values, and that man is Rick Santorum,” he said, drawing cheers. “There’s only one man that has stood by his principles, who has stood by his convictions, who has stood by his family, like he is today. He’s standing with his family.”

Duggar was followed by his sister, Jill, who is studying to be a midwife. “Every vote counts. We learned that in Iowa, when we won,” she said.

Zach Bates, who has been campaigning for Santorum with the Duggars, came next. He introduced himself by saying he was the oldest of 18 children, sparking laughter from the audience. Then he noted that his mother is pregnant, triggering applause.

Noting that all the candidates “can give the conservative speech,” Bates said he prayed for guidance. “So I said, ‘What’s something different? What’s something going to set them apart, not just what they’re saying?’ And the Lord laid something on my heart, you know, just, I think, Scripture, just principle: 'He that’s faithful in little things can be trusted with much.' And I think that’s one thing that’s characterized Rick Santorum’s life, a faithful man of courage.”

Bates urged the audience to stick with the true conservative in the race. “We cannot fight Obama with someone who’s a little bit better than Obama,” he said.

He urged Santorum’s supporters to reach out to their friends in the final days before the primary to make the case. “Get on your Twitters. Get on your Facebooks,” he said.

When the Duggars and Bates finished, Joe Gruters, the GOP chairman for Sarasota County, asked, “What do you think? You think we have some future elected officials here?”

Rainbow68 said...

Wow. Perhaps these older children are being groomed for politics. For Josh to go to law school, he must first graduate from college. So, he's years away from this. Having child after child won't help as his studying load gets heavier, particularly with law school. To secure public office, you must thorougly be well-versed on issues and able to debate and defend your positions with more than sound bites. So far, they've merely given unchallenged speeches. Don't get me wrong. They can run for office. They just need more knowledge first.

Devil's Advocate said...

Can we PLEASE put the 'who's running the car lot, because it isn't Josh' comments on the Dead Horse list - NOW?? If you look up the business, it clearly states that Josh owns it and that someone else runs/operates it. That info was put up was several months ago. Some past show eipsodes have clips of Josh talking about hiring people so he can be at home more. While I don't agree with lots of things the Duggars say and do, in no way do I find the fact that Josh isn't running the business but just owning it that big of a deal. Heck, it probably runs better with him as an owner and not operator, anyway.

Patrice said...

How many times have we seen this same set of lies: "Josh plans to go to law school. Jill wants to become a midwife". When is this going to happen? Not by hanging out on the campaign trail or taking TLC trips or staying home to help change diapers. I would be much more impressed if the article said "Josh took the weekend off from his busy car business and night-school law classes at the university to help campaign". and "Jill stopped by on Saturday but had to return to college and her hospital internship early Sunday". To keep repeating the same old hopes and ambitions of these adult Duggars is getting very old, and even less believable now than four years ago when we first heard the same stories.
Also the article stating that Josh owns two car lots, then one paragraph later telling us that he has not been home since New Year's Eve...? huh? Hardly anything to be write home about. Either the lots have been abandoned or someone else is doing the work while Josh hauls in the money if the lots are indeed making any. Sure would like to hear something to make us see that the Duggars are following through on their hopes and ambitions.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Smartly dressed in a suit and tie? Did they mention how he's bursting out of both? The paragraph about Josh stepping forward to speak almost made me throw up. He must think that the heavens are aligning to put these circumstances together in order for him to start on his destined path. I would rather see him on tv (only) for the rest of his life instead of seeing him starting into politics. There are enough disgusting candidates already.

Elvira said...

How old is Josh now? 23 or 24? My daughter graduated from law school at 24. It's time to quit talking about it and either do it or not.

tulip said...

That write up is nauseating! It's like a big promo for Josh Duggar. Josh has been "planning" on going to law school since he was 16. Now nearly 24, married with 2 kids (and counting), supposedly working hard building his car dealerships and, oh, in his free time taking political science courses online, all I see is an egocentric 20-something using his "celebrity" for all it's worth and sucking the last bit of life out of his fame before it dries up.

Jill states, "we won" in Iowa, and Zach Bates joining in the circus just makes everything that much more of a mockery. Outside of The Duggar's "Circle of Friends", everybody else has to be rolling in laughter.

Best Wishes to the Santorum family. Hopefully they realize it's time to pack it up--before The Duggars cause them anymore embarrasement...and votes.

tulip said...

I agree, they're definitely being groomed for politics. I also agree they're acting like everything is lining up in perfect form for them to get a foothold in government and start pushing their agendas.

Correction to my earlier post: The Duggars and their following will COST Santorum votes. Maybe it's all a set-up anyway-Santorum knows he probably won't win, but why not keep The Duggars up on the podeums as long as there's a "legitimate" opportunity for them to do so...under the guise of "we're campaigning for Santorum!" It's been too fishy all along how much time and effort they're putting in to "help out a candidate".

Rainbow68 said...

Is it possible, though, that the show IS their job now? I guess school and careers are on hold as long as they show is on tv. They must have to be available nonstop for filming.

ennvee said...

Adding to the first part of that positively fawning article (can someone post the source, since I found the speech elsewhere; they just posted the facts.

At any rate, I find it...interesting...that the original article didn't include the beginning of Josh's speech (which is very divisive - just want tot warn everyone before reading), and includes grammar that makes the ears bleed

From CNN:

[i]Josh Duggar, the oldest of the Duggar's 19 children, was quite pointed in his criticisms of Santorum's GOP opponents, laying into Mitt Romney for allowing abortions to be covered under his Massachusetts health care reform.

"The man who said he had a change of heart, he had an epiphany, he had this moment where he became pro-life - this man still has not went back [cringe] and made that right," Duggar said [...inarticulately]. "And women in Massachusetts still walk in, and basically off the hand of Gov. Mitt Romney [huh?], they can get an abortion for $50."

Duggar also hit Romney for his support of gays and lesbians as governor.

"In '04 or '05 [you want to be a lawyer, be prepared with FACTS] he issued a declaration saying that basically that homosexuals and homosexual lifestyles should be encouraged and he made a declaration from the state as governor that that should be accepted in society," Duggar said. "This man is not someone who is on our side." [earth to Josh: encouragement and acceptance are two different issues...you need a new speech writer]

Incorporating Gingrich into his final attack, Duggar ended by saying, "Both of these men have been on both sides of the issues that you and I hold dear."[/i]

The last sentence wasn't bad, but the little governor (or whatever it was they used to call him when Jim Bob was in the legislature), needs to learn that speeches are most effective when you call your opponents by name, as often as possible. Since this is basically Jim Bob's stump speech, the blame definitely lies in Duggar hands.

Just Me said...

Wow. That is one frightening article. I hope Jill really is studying to be a midwife and not just taking the college plus courses. I'd be seriously impressed if Josh went to a real law school. We'll see on that one. I guess this shows a lot about Santorum if he is allying himself with them. Or vice versa.

Looks like Michelle is a confirmed speaker at this year's CPAC conference in a couple of weeks. She appears, in the ubiquitous green shirt, in the crawl on top of the page under the "Confirmed Speakers" banner.

That list is so extremist that Romney looks like Obama appearing on it.

Just for a small political comparison for foreign readers: from what I understand from Canadian and British readers, Obama would be considered borderline Conservative in your countries.

Kelly Bates has taken to posting Santorum chain mails; Zack sent her one after he spoke as part of that rally discussed above.

The Duggars, with their group-think and one-issue-voting, are the epitome of ignorance.

Only with like-minded religious extremists are the Duggars going to win votes for Santorum.

If Santorum was smart, he'd align himself with more educated, broader view spokespersons. Net-net, the Duggars are likely to hurt Santorum's vote more than help it.

It does NOT speak well of Santorum that he encourages endosements from those like the Duggars.

IMAGINE our country under Duggar rule - we might as well just burn the Declaration of Independence and call it a day. AND the Duggars would feel all righteous about trampling over everyone else's beliefs for Gawd.

The Duggars and their ilk scare me.

Seriously? said...

Did that Fountain of Knowledge, Josh Duggar, really say he'd 'rather be RIGHT than politically correct'??

WHO SAYS it's an either/or situation?

Josh would do himself and fellow patriarchs a huge favor by just keeping his mouth closed before any further ignorance falls out of his mouth, like so much unchewed food.

Josh looks bigger and bigger every week, and puffed up huge in the latest pics at Five Guys & Cold Stone Creamery. I agree, Anna looks pregnant in the pic at Cracker Barrel, and the peasant-style loose-fitting top isn't hiding anything...one comment next to the pic states how she looks so great and how does she lose the baby weight. Huh?

The Bates now "helping out" with the campaign is really ridiculous...just proof they operate in their own little circles-who else would know who these people are? Zach Bates...a household name?

tulip said...

Now Michelle is speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference? Ok, there's nothing fishy here.

BTW, they really have to start using a new picture of her other than the "green shirt picture"! It's humorous how the pic stands out amid the line up of all the other pictures. Well, knowing The Duggars, that's just what they want.

Quite frankly I think the show is toast. According to cousin Amy (a while ago) the show was supposed to start last week. Now there's a new series in their time slot.

I think TLC may have been on the fence about going forward after the Jubilee fiasco but the recent developments of their foray into the political sphere may have put the nails in the coffin. Or maybe the Duggars thought they could have a wider audience for their famewhore-ery by insinuating themselves into national politics.

I still can't figure out why Rick Santorum would want the likes of Josh Duggar having any part of his campaign. I wonder if he even realizes that there is still a good chance that Josie could have special needs. Oh wait a minute...she is a Duggar and God shines special favor on the Duggars. What was I thinking??

The show just has to be toast. IMHO, this recent accelerated foray into big-time politics just screams it. As stated so succinctly by a former poster, I - too, am so tired of hearing that "Josh wants to be a lawyer" or " J___ wants to be a midwife". Either put up or shut up. Enough already!

Ella said...

I'm beginning to think that this whole campaigning has less to do with Santorum & more to do with Josh & the Duggars getting him "out there" so to speak. I think the campaigning for Santorum is just a convenience. They certainly don't respect him much if they're making unpleasant comments about Catholics & special needs people, both of which Santorum has a very personal connection to. That's disrespectful & hostile to the person they're supposedly backing.

Possibly they're attempting to get Josh some practical experience in their thinking & see how he does out there with the masses, test the waters. After all you don't need an education or anything to be a politician when you can be a Duggar & "play" at it. Much the same way Ms. Kreider has "played" at everything for so long. Kate thinks she can be a talk show host & Josh no doubt thinks he can be a governor or the president, neither of them realizing what it actually takes to reach those achievements & certainly not wanting to put that kind of work into it. After all politics is just a lot of speechifying & hoedowns in fast food joints isn't it?

The more I hear & read about Josh the more I think Katie Kreider, both of them seem to have frequent attacks of foot in mouth disease & both too ignorant & arrogant to care about what they're actually saying. Josh being any kind of a politician is bone chilling, he is not someone who should have power over others, no matter how good a leader mommy & daddy think he is. Interesting that they want so govern over worldly people, just not associate with them, wow does that sound familiar. To the Duggars they're "worldly" people, to K.Krieder they're' the peasants & little people, the great unwashed masses that neither wants anything to do with.

ennvee said...

Doubtful the Duggars will hit any of the three states coming up for primaries next week; all battlegrounds and two are far west of the Mighty Mississippi.

Not to mention, Anna's sister is getting married on Saturday (same church as Anna and Josh), so they, at least, will remain in Florida for a few more days.

The bus is probably parked in the unfinished Duggar driveway by now...until Super Tuesday (presuming Santorum makes it that far).

I was so tempted to tweet Josh tonight with the hashtag #losing, only because he was so fond of typing the opposite, despite Santorum's poor results so far (aside from the shenanigans at the Iowa caucus that awarded him the win days after the fact.

I think the campaign has officially imploded the show. If it's not starting in Feb. Sweeps, its next shot isn't until the build-up to May Sweeps.

I wonder who is footing the bill for the campaign trip? It must be costing a fortune with $500 fuel fill-ups, several hotel rooms per night (assuming Jim Bob pried open his wallet and paid for more than one room). Then there's all the supersized chain restaurant meals and snack attacks.

I'm sure Jim Bob charmed some hotel and restaurant owners into freebies, but it would be hard to get everything free. But then again, maybe he threatens to name each of his nineteen kids until the establishment owner screams "uncle" and zeroes out the bill.

I really don't think TLC is paying for this junket. And if Jim Bob has a lick of sense, he should be banking his money to fund his upcoming post-TLC days.

"Santorum has already deserted Florida and is now in Nevada. I wonder how much it'll take in gas money to get the bus there."

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((()))

Unsurprising that building the pipeline is one of the only two issues to the Duggars - gotta keep them babies comin'. Gotta keep fillin' up the huge bus gas tank.

THIS is 'encouraging'????

Josh posts Romney wins Florida because of money...how about Santorum loses Florida because of Duggars? Ok, Santorum probably wouldn't have won anyway, but I bet The Duggars scared a lot of people off. Those who aren't die-hard fans, but have just heard about The Duggars, know them to be ultra-conservative and if The Duggars were so obviously going out of their way to campaign for him, well hey, people aren't stupid!

Still shocked (and annoyed) Michelle is speaking at the CPAC. Reality TV repeating itself (Kate G.)... everybody and their brother KNOWS the show's over, except them! They just have to keep scraping the bottom of ANYTHING to make sure they keep their foot in the door-no matter how pathetic!

ennvee said...

I just read an article that says the Duggars "donated" their bus to the campaign. Does that mean it travels on whilst the Duggars go home, knowing their brand of crazy doesn't play well in the three "purple" states in play this week? If the bus does travel on, who's in charge of it? Josh will be in Florida through at least this Saturday. If he has it, he'd never get it to all 3 states in time (even if they WERE going to go north to MN or west to CO or NV).

Either way, nice way to get a tax deduction, Jim Bob.

rcadra2, so funny, "threatened to name his kids" and "pried open his wallet." Thanks for the chuckle:)

It's kind of ironic that Santorum did better absent the Duggars!

ennvee said...

Josh's tweets today indicate that the Santorum Express (or whatever he's calling it...SOTDRT spelling on the tweet) will be in Oklahoma City and Tulsa on Thursday.

Oklahoma...real tough sell, eh Josh? *eyeroll*

Poor Josh doesn't realize that turnout was super low, Missouri doesn't select delegates based on the primary, and there was a massive snowstorm in Colorado...only the hardcore politicos showed in that state and those voters tend to be on either end of the spectrum.

He may be on the campaign trail, but he has so much to learn about how delegates are awarded, etc.

ennvee said...

If this gets posted in a hot second and you're in Tulsa, you're in luck! You have a chance to see the Duggars at Oral Roberts University. Here's Josh's latest:

"Hello Tulsa! Big event with next POTUS at 1:30 @ORU Maybee Center! @RickSantorum speaking & answer ?'s BTW, All the Duggar kids will b here!"

Dee said...

Josh's Twitter and Instigram posts are really something - they really put a light on his real thoughts and feelings. The public perception of this family is so very different than reality.

Vera said...

It seems like Josh really does fancy them to be some sort of ultra-conservative rock stars or something. Talk about an inflated sense of self!

I wonder if self-aggrandizing was one of the character traits covered at the Academy of the Dining Room Table.

ennvee said...

Don't forget, Michelle is speaking at the CPAC conference today, 3:30 eastern time. CSPAN is covering it, but if you don't have cable, the CPAC website has a live stream.

I'm really curious what her "right" view is. Also interesting that since the kids were in OK yesterday, it's doubtful they'll be in DC today, unless they pulled an all-nighter driving to DC.

hart&sole said...

Obviously Jim Bob, Michelle and Josh will go to any lengths to stay in the spotlight. Do you suppose they are going to follow Rick Santorum however long he remains a candidate? In the upcoming episode Josh talks about how tough things are at the car lot. I wonder how he knows and if he can guess why?

I saw several comments that suggested there would have to be time given for opposing views if TLC showed the Duggars endorsing Rick Santorum. I won't bore you all here, but suggest, you check out Wikipedia on the subjects: The Fairness Doctrine and Equal Time Rule.
It's pretty enlightening .

Michelle's promotion video.

Michelle's promotion video is horrifying. This is the dumbing down of America. Does Santorum not see, associating with the Duggar’s can only hurt their cause? Michelle’s video is point number one.

It sure did sound scripted, just like the message to Jubilee did..like someone else wrote it,and Michelle just read it verbatim.JMO.

I wonder how a Rick Santorum loss will go over in the Duggar house. I really hope that all of their political and instagram activities will bring them down like a ton of bricks.

I believe Arkansas is one of the states that allows licensed lay midwives, so Jill(?) would not necessarily have to go to college in order to be one. HOWEVER, she would have to do training, take exams, and do apprenticeships. The closest thing we've seen to this on the show is her taking classes to be a doula, which one of the girls said is "kind of like a midwife." In reality, while doulas and midwives are both childbirth professionals, they are not even close to being the same thing. Their roles in the process are different.

ennvee said...

The doula who delivered Anna's kids is married to a pediatrician. If SHE can't get licensed beyond a doula, despite delivering tons of babies and teaching Bradley classes (as seen on the show) it's doubtful Jill will ever attain that level. Ergo, Anna did not have a midwife attending either of her homebirths, lucky nothing went wrong.

On the campaign trail, it was reported that Josh handed out business cards at Santorum's event in MO on Saturday. Stay klassy, kiddo.

ennvee said...

Here's the Santorum video Josh promised. Be prepared to hear some outlandish reasons why the guy should be president (He's been married 21 years! He has 7 children - and one in heaven!). Also watch out for Jana's and Anna's hair. THey look like they've embraced Michelle's Bump-it. Or something. Two positives: Josie is cute and Jeremiah seems to have a charismatic presence, with proper inflection.

Anna, please ditch that top and hairstyle. Now, please.

I think that video is the worst I've ever seen her look. The wavy curling iron look was way more attractive.

Shallow, I know.

Just watched the video. If he's elected, he'll set back women's rights a couple generations at least. So I guess he's the man for you if you don't want to go to college or have any rights when it comes to your own body. It makes perfect sense that the Duggar clan supports him. So smug! "Vanity working on a weak mind produces all sorts of mischief"

Duggars campaigning in Illinois pics posted on Instagram...yep, blue shirts yet again! Jim Bob wearing royal blue shirt with tie and Michelle wearing the same puffy-sleeved blue shirt (out with the green, in with the blue). And, Josh bragging, posting pic of themselves on the front page of Chicago Sun-Times...Agree, Anna looks horrible in the campaign video-proof filming til 1 am isn't doing anybody any favors.

Hannah said...

They seem to mention his family a lot. I think it was mentioned like 4/5 times. About Gun control. Do they even know of the events like school shootings etc. I think it was Jessa who mentioned it.

The Duggars are on the front page of the Chicago Sun-Times. (WHY?) Michelle is sporting her new knee length skirt (with the ever-present blue shirt). Anna is hiding in back. (hmm) The younger boys are wearing their suits which seem small and tight on most of them, and I imagine they are in bad condition from constant use and little care (can't throw them in the industrial washing machines).

Agreed, the vid doesn't do anything to convince me to vote for Santorum. The kids are all adorable though, esp. Michael (love those big eyes!),Kynzie and Josie..love those curls on Josie.I hope they are real. She looks so much like Jackson,IMO.Josh could do better with his hair..I don't get putting gel or grease on a one inch haircut.JMO.

My opinion of the video is that the Duggars et al looked and sounded like a bunch of rubes. They certainly seem to be full of themselves. Wish they cared as much about their children's education as they do about campaigning for someone I think is scary.

I just watched the Santorum/Duggar video OMGosh! I can't believe what I just saw.
1. Most shocking moment for me? JANA! Fake fake fake. She was trying too hard and we all know she is not that theatrical, loud, and over the top in her speech. Maybe she really is trying to land a Santorum son and is trying to play the part of the Good Wife of a politician.
2. All the boys desperately needed makeup from Jimbob to the age above Justin. And Jessa had no make up on at all. Jessa and the boys had really red ruddy skin and it was so distracting.
3. Anna has really thin hair and it was rough.
4. The best shirts Josiah and Justin had was a red flanel shirt?
5. The gel in the boys hair looks nasty. Looks like they can't wash it out and then they pile it on some more.
5. Michelle overused word "precious" and the 7 kids one in heaven. Give me a break.
6. Jennifer looked like she had had a trantrum and was pouting.
7. Josie says "I love Rick"? I am shocked she can put 3 words together. Why say that? Something about that rubbed me the wrong way.
8. Joy tried to wear some make-up but it doesn't look good. Please keep trying Joy. Good color foundation, powder, mascara and some clear or soft pink lip color is all you need at your age. Cover the winter ruddy splochy skin with foundation.

Reasons to vote for Santorum, because he's a nice guy? So is George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Because he's a daddy? So is my dad. Because he has 7 kids? So do a lot of people. Ugh. Its just silly.

Stephanie said...

Who is the young man in the instagram photos? He has arm braces for walking and sometimes he is in a wheelchair? I think its the same man.

Also, regarding the Santorum video, the irony of Joseph (I think) referencing the US armed services was not lost on me.

Jim Bob trashed his dad using almost the exact verbiage that Michelle used during the radio show yesterday. But he did it in front of kids down to Jason in age. Come on people, that man may not have been the greatest person, but he was still the grandfather to those kids. The younger ones could at least be spared the details until they're older, but it sounds as if the meme is to deify Mary Duggar.

Poster noted that Joy was kept away from the people after the speeches/singing was done and played the piano. Jana is going to work for the Journey to the Heart program (looks to be replacing Priscilla Keller; I don't think married women are allowed to work outside the home). :(

When asked if she gets any alone time, Jinger sidestepped the question and says she looks for ways to serve.

JimBob justifies support of Santorum by calling him an "evangelical Catholic." More like another guy who wants to set the country back 100 years, but that's only MHO.

Just my humble opinion, but when you get INTERVIEWED about the presidential campaign a few feet away from the sanctuary on your way to Church . . . then maybe you've taken it just a bit too far. (As seen on Josh's Instagram account.)

I didn't realize that prior the last Tuesday's primary, some of the Duggars were a mere 35 miles from my home. Politics aside, because I a "moderate feminist" before any political party, if I had known, I would have shown up with a sign saying "free Jinger," or "free the adult Duggar WOMEN and their tomboy younger sister," or somesuch silliness. I'm old enough that I don't care what others think. Additionally, I will say that I was quite surprised by the reaction, when asked before the primary election by members of my swimming class for arthritic old ladies, I said I wouldn't vote for a certain candidate because the Duggars were part of his hangers-on. They were surprised that the Duggars were involved - actually, they were all stunned and it gave them a bit of food for thought before they voted, which is always a good thing. It's shame that way too many religious people view the Duggars as a good Christian family and don't look into the uncomfortable details of the Duggar -Gothard connection.

Stephanie said...

Santorum thanked the Duggars for following them around in their bus. Along with a bunch of people. Nathaniel with spina bifida. I wonder if that's the guy we see with the Duggars on the instagram?

Beantown Mom said...

So, what are the Duggars going to do now? Will they eat crow, as Josh hinted in some recent Instagram posts in regards to how nice the LDS folks are and campaign for Romeny? It'll be interesting to see.

tulip said...

Yes, and what will Josh do about his new post as the Arkansas representative for Santorum, or whatever it is he was bragging about, and posting pics of his new desk with framed inspirational sayings? Find it hard to believe he had time to take something like that on anyway when he supposedly is in fact managing his carlot, being a dad to his 2 small children and frequenting restaurants for every meal of the day. Right.

Andrea said...

Finally it's over! Now the poor kidlings can go home and relax. I can't see the Duggar's supporting Mitt Romeny . . . but I didn't really see what the attraction was between the Duggar's and Santorum either.

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Josh is now supporting....Newt Gingrich.(Seriously) You know, that twice divorced, twice a cheater on his spouse. In other words, a good family man and true conservative.

tulip said...

Politico reports Jim Bob states now that Santorum is out, they will settle for Mitt over our current president. I am so over The Duggars at this point it just makes me sick. He states Mitt IS a conservative, and they will ask people to support them in supporting Mitt in holding true to his position. UGH!! As someone previously posted, The Duggars have indeed eaten crow. I won't comment about religion, or my personal beliefs, and hopefully this comment isn't crossing the line, but if it is I understand, but I have to say it's evident The Duggars care more about "being a conservative" then anything else, and especially that of the doctrine of the God they say THEY believe in.

ennvee said...

Josh is now supporting....Newt Gingrich.(Seriously) You know, that twice divorced, twice a cheater on his spouse. In other words, a good family man and true conservative.

==================================

I find his support for Gingrich highly ironic since just last night Josh was condemning the Arkansas FB coach who resigned under pressure after having numerous affairs with younger women despite being married for 25 years.

So, in the same day he can endorse a candidate who left one wife while she was in the hospital suffering from cancer, yet applaud the cheater who gets caught; his picadillos weren't a problem during the past few football seasons to the Duggars, as evidenced by all the Arkansas gear they wear and is apparently plastered on one of the mega fridges in the pantry - as seen during the "tour" on the Today Show earlier this week. Since the only other stuff that hangs in their home are kitschy religious artwork and those wood cutouts, AR sports (esp. football) must be a pretty sacred cow in their family.

Jen said...

They can support Mitt all they want but I promise you Mitt's camp will not have them following him around or speaking on his behalf...which is a very smart move. Looks like their best contribution is yard signs. Also, what a crushing blow for Jimbob and Josh's ego...they truly thought they would be confidants to the next president. Josh with his GED. Dream on, boys.

tulip said...

The Duggars would be ideal as politicians since they are such flip-floppers just like the best of them. The football coach yet another example. They're all about "what the Bible says", until they supposedly have no choice left but to support a pres. candidate whose religious beliefs on doctrinal issues they would openly denounce to anyone who walks by. But, now that they're left to "settle", Josh feels the need to mention The LDS chuch has "nice folks". They believe in homeschooling as a reason to keep a tightknit family on the homefront, yet are traipsing all over the country for anything that draws attention to themselves and/or makes them money, splitting up the family while making the kids (supposedly) do their schoolwork out of a bus.
