From Josh's Instagram, looks like once the election is over he won't have much else to do. He'll have to go back to posting more food pics, and of other people working. Also he was getting flack for posting a picture of Michael in a forward-facing car seat. Even though the law is a year old, apparently the current recommendation is now 2 years old...obviously some of the critics aren't used to the Duggar's minimal consideration for safety awareness. Probably same reason Anna sat Michael in that recalled baby seat on top of the dining room table (yes, if she wants to do that, it's her business...but I wouldn't advise having the scene broadcast on national TV for millions to see.)

I have to share this...I was flipping through channels today and when whizzing by the Today show I thought I saw Michelle Duggar. I quickly flipped back praying that there was no pregnancy announcement. When i got back to that channel i realized I was mistaken. It wasn't Michelle. It was Steven Tyler from Aerosmith.

Has any candidate that Josh endorsed ever won?

Looking at his history why would anyone want his support? Any sane person should run and run fast and far.

Nancy said...

Josh hasn't endorsed his brother, who is running for an Alderman (ie. city council) position in Tonitown again Signs have been seen in

I guess that means he has a pretty good chance of winning. :D

Michelle Duggar got a makeover!

I like her new look better, but it says she went back to old look. :(

Rumor has it that the Duggars will be back in 2013. I guess they must use the Japan and China footage. I hope something more interesting that barfing pets and kids turns up to round out the season.

londonbridges said...

I sure hope that, too. I have absolutely had enough, TLC, with Duggar blessings and any animals unfortunate to be in their 'care', vomiting. Yikes!!

tulip said...

Maybe the Duggar's return next year with the Asia trip will be the last hurrah. Note to Sean- But please, no more:
1) Kids and/or pets/animals vomiting

2) Jim Bob & Michelle PDA

3) Doctor and/or dentist visits showing kids crying or being firmly "held in place"

4) Josh & Anna PDA, Josh at the carlot, Anna trying to explain anything

5) Cousin Amy "helping out" with anything

6) "Food, Fun & Fellowship", aka. Inviting people over for camera time, and then chowing down on cheap food

7) Kids helping out with anything that includes dirty feet, dirty hands and licking fingers while preparing food, and walking/crawling on counters and tabletops

8) Fake homeschooling

9) Talking about courting, unless someone is actually doing it, and

10) Jim Bob instructing kids what to do and talking about "hard work" while he walks around in freshly laundered jeans & a polo with his cellphone clipped to his belt.

I'm sure others will have their "top 10", LOL!

imaamy said...

tulip...you have just eliminated all show material, LOL! Except there really hasn't been much fake homeschooling of late...

The best thing that they could possibly show at this point is a final farewell episode. They should have Anna say what she really thinks about her mother in law, have Michelle admit that the home school is a crock of bull, and a confessional where the family admits all of their beliefs with no sugar coating at all.

I just wonder if Michelle isn't pregnant. That would be the only reason tlc would keep the show imo. They would also wait until she was pretty far along before announcing it too.

The latest (Wednesday morning) election results from Tontitown:
ALDERMAN WARD 3 POSITION 2 TONTITOWN

(Vote for ) 1

Mike Zulpo . . . . . . . . . . 446 53.41

John Duggar. . . . . . . . . . 389 46.59

Leah said...

I kinda feel sorry for John because if he had been raised in a different family, he might have had a chance at an education and career in politics. But since Jim Bob and Michelle value quantity of children over quality of parenting, all John is qualified for is the tow truck business. I can tell Josh is in a similar boat. It's just depressing to see these kids with potential just waste their abilities because they are discouraged from anything that could potentially get in the way of having a gigantic family.

In case there were any question, the adult daughters still get told what hairstyle to wear.

“Girls I just gotta say to you, don’t get any ideas, don’t rush to a hair salon and chop off half your hair.”

And the girls all quickly assured her that they would do no such thing. :/

It really is annoying that Josh & co. post pics of themselves voting, and Josh posting his actual ballot with him holding Mackynzie showing her "helping" Josh vote. I'm beyond thankful to have the opportunity to vote for our leaders, and issues, and being annoyed with the pics has nothing to do with that. Josh had plenty to post & comment as well after Obama was officially reelected. Cousin Amy feels the need to post herself voting as well, all smiles & outfitted in a patriotic scarf voting for Romney, but then has the nerve to post a pic of her "thumbs down" after The President was reelected commenting "Bad news America Obama is back"...Just cannot bear anymore of Duggars & Politics-I see them as if "their candidates", etc. aren't in office, the country is doomed...not exactly pulling together for the good of the Nation, JMHO.

Jen said...

I just started watching the Duggars again, mainly because I always have TLC on and it happens to be playing.
I have noticed one thing about the Duggars, as opposed to Sister Wives or J&K plus 8, these kids are really good looking. I mean, they are all beautiful young adults and adorable children.
I really feel that this is a big reason they are still on TV. These good looking young adults have to be an audience draw to some extent.
The flip side to this realization is to look at Josh and Anna. They look so much older and not in a positive way at all. It's depressing to see these two in the prime of their lives and they look to be 40.
Cousin Amy? Yuck. She looks like she needs a shower. What is up with the greasy hair and smeared make up all the time?
I'm really waiting to see which kid breaks free and approaches TLC for their own Breaking Duggar show. THAT is one I would watch.

Rainbow68 said...

Michelle's hairstyle is one of the stories on People.com today. In it, she says she kept it straight. I'm glad. She looks much younger.

Beth Anne said...

Re: "Josh had plenty to post & comment as well after Obama was officially reelected."

I'm sure he did! I can't really begrudge people for grumbling about election results, as freedom of speech is alive and well, and you figure about 48% of the voters are not happy the President was re-elected :)

However, I DO have a problem with him photographing and posting a picture of his ballot and having Mack "help" him vote. I'm pretty sure those activities border on the illegal side...but the Duggars are so above everyone else, they don't have to follow silly election rules, do they? Honestly, I don't believe you are supposed to or allowed to bring someone in to "help" you vote unless you are disabled or something, and it's just weird to post a photo of one's ballot. Have some respect for individual voting rights, Josh!

Of course, this is the same family that somehow got permission to have a camera crew hauled into a NICU, thus filling the room with more people than is probably allowed, but because they were documenting their precious addition, I guess fudging the rules was O.K.

Rudy Tecat said...

There were big signs at my polling place saying "no cell phones"...I wonder if Joshie had to sneak one in, or if there's no rule like that in Arkansas.

hello said...

I work the election polls in NJ and you cannot have a cell phone in the voting place. We had to tell quite a few people to turn off their cell phones. You are not allowed to take pictures in the voting booth. The Duggars seem to think they are above the law. I have seen more than one Duggar talking on a cell phone while driving. Even if it not illegal in Arkansas, it is dangerous. But then again, the Duggars don't practice safety rules in their own home.
It was very disturbing when they had the camera crew in the NICU while Josie was in there. I don't know if that was legal or not, but the Duggars didn't seem to care that there was other babies in there fighting for their lives. But I guess the Duggars were only concerned about ratings for their show.

stephanie said...

This was outrageous. Michelle did this "make over" for the money and I suppose production was reading this blog. Jimbob is suppose to love Michelle no matter what her hair looks like but apparantly he doesn't have unconditional love, he only loves his woman with her stupid looking hillbilly hair. And Janas big barrel curling iron needs to to go too. I really noticed how stupid the adult girls hair look. The sad part is, they think it is beautiful. Well its not. Josiah, who I used to think was the cutest looks terrible as does Joy. Its a mothers job to tell the kids how to improve.

Regarding Josie walking on the table "making cards for momma" then they show her screaming like she fell? She had on a white dress then a split second later with her screaming she has on a different dress with green leggings. TLC you are terrible at editing.

The vomit scene Michelles hair is super long again with curls. When your hair is curly it is shorter, so that answers the wiglet question. Maybe she bought a used wiglet from a toddlers & tiaras mom.

Ark. Code § 7-1-103(a)(22) prohibits "any ... person in or out of this state in any primary, general, or special election in this state" from "divulg[ing] to any person the results of any votes cast for any candidate or on any issue in the election until after the closing of the polls on the day of the election." It is not clear whether this applies to individual votes or to the overall results of the election.

http://www.sos.arkansas.gov/elections/Documents/State%20and%20Federal%20Election%20Laws.pdf

This column refers to the practice of photographing or filming one's own vote at the time of voting and afterwards displaying the image on a publicly accessible platform like the Internet. Streaming live video of your own marked ballot may create legal problems in additional states. "X" means that there is a law which may prohibit photographing or filming one's own marked ballot. "?" means the law is unclear. Keep in mind that states have these laws to prevent vote buying and coercion, so you should be cautious of publicly posting your ballot.

Duggars....you really should stop taking pictures of actually voting AND remove said pictures from the internet ...NOW! Rather be safe than sorry.

tulip said...

If cell phones/cameras were not technically allowed at their polling place, I'm sure Josh thinks he deserves special treatment, or an election worker might have given him a break since he's "famous"-I can just see that happening. As far as Josh's political comments go, he does have freedom of speech like everyone else, but he goes about it in such a pompous manner (using his kids as props) & over doing it, sparking feuds (Chik-fil-a, Akin, etc.) IMO, he instigates, and enjoys it-that's my issue with it.

It's definitely in the parent's best interest to help their kids with image, esp. in the teen years, and with the kids on TV, maybe even more so. Josiah looks very thin and lanky, and his complexion could use some good product, which there are so many great, effective ones out there. Joy looks somewhat "chubby", not that this is something I think is wrong, but, when compared to all her older sisters who have much slender frames, I can see why she sticks out as so awkward, not to mention the other girls curled, overly-styled hair and heavy foundation and eyeliner, neither of which Joy seems to care about (and shouldn't have to.)

I live in Georgia and when I voted there were police officers helping out. They all said cell phones inside a polling place is illegal in Georgia as most have cameras or recording devices. They could not be silenced, but had to be OFF. Josh & crew are free to tell the world who they are voting for, but really need to respect other people's privacy at their polling place. I would strangle my husband if he tried to take a picture of me voting! I have to wonder if the Duggar women are told who to vote for?

Alberta Rose said...

TLC you are terrible at editing.

I have to say, there were other "celebrities" who posted pictures of their ballots also. Not that I really consider Josh a celebrity and I'm not defending him. But, Beyonce did the exact same thing. I personally don't think people should do it, I just don't think it's respectful, no matter who you are.

sandi said...

IMO the Duggar women are told in no uncertain terms whom to vote for.And it's not like Josh has to announce it anyway...we all know where they stand in regards to voting.I can only add my 2 cent worth and say that there are some INO's (in name only) candidates out there,so it's important to research and not just necessarily vote straight party.JMO.

Nancy said...

It could have been legal to do take pictures where ever Beyonce voted (or did she take a picture of her mail-in ballot? I seriously doubt most big-time celebs actually go to a polling place.

Josh and Anna are both really trying to incite riots on their IG now that the show's run is over for now. They obviously feel that they have to stay relevant somehow and are posting some very divisive stuff. The 180 movie Anna referenced equates abortion to the Halocaust and has been taken to task by a number of Jewish organizations.

Sure, they can post that stuff, but they never make comments, so their motives are clear. They don't want to discuss anything. They just want attention. The sad thing is that the people responding can't defend themselves and as much as the fangirls wish, neither Josh nor Anna is going to step in and explain WHY they made those posts in the first place.

They're becoming more and more repellant by the day; it was easier to try and like these people a little more back in the day, but social media has really shown their true colors (Amy's too) and they're very, very ugly and offensive.

sandi said...

Josh,Anna and Amy would unlikely be able to respond to such social media conversational debates in the first place, because they are untrained in how to do so.There are plenty of training camps and organaizations for homeschoolers to learn speech and debate, but it is my understanding that thus far (even though Jim Bob has been approachedby some) he has declined. If the Duggars were trained in speech and debate, they might be able to put some pretty good thoughts and arguments out there, which would be especially useful for their political agenda, but it doesn't appear that is going to happen anytime soon.JMO.

After all of the comments about Josh's voting antics I took a look at Arkansas voting rules. It did state that voters are to go alone into the booth. Josh just get's more and more entitled it seems by the day.

I'm a bit slow. Is this it for a bit? Is the show waiting for more footage from their latest Cook's Tour before any new episodes air?

As for the taking pictures of ballots, in many, many states it is illegal. If fact, the day before the election, our local TV and newspapers reminded us not to take pictures, because of concerns of recreating the ballots and voter fraud. Apparently Arkansas is either behind the times or there were no voting monitors at their polling place.

As always, I appreciate all the imput. The attention this family receives can't end soon enough.

Ah Joshie. Yet another day of not working at the lot as he rides the roller coasters at Silver Dollar City while his wife and the "cake doctor" woman wheel the toddlers around the park. Kids look to be of similar age, and Cake Doctor woman is knocked up with a third. Definitely another ATI member and not some cool outsider they happened to know who could bake.

I think that would be expecting too much of these people. It was too much to hope that the Cake Doctor was just a regular friend and not another quiverfuller popping out as many babies as possible.

Thank heavens it's been almost 18 months since Mike was born and it doesn't appear that Anna is knocked up again. I wonder if Josh's late nightcrawler habits have something to do with it. Then again, Anna looks so exhausted; I wonder if he wakes her up after he's let go of his real love, the Iphone.

Just End It Now said...

What good would it do TLC to have another season of these people? We've seen just about everything that is possible IMO. The latest season was an absolute snooze fest.

sandi said...

I wish Josh would just admit they are not going to have a large family, once and for all, despite the 'promise to God' and the blathering that goes on and on,on his website.(ja20.com).There is no way he os going to try to cram a bunch of kids in that tiny house, while he waits in line to go to the bathroom, gives up most of his free time, and most of his imcome (esp.that geared twds going out to eat) in order to support a whole brood like his mom and dad did. Please, just give it up Josh...we are not that stupid.JMO.

Rainbow68 said...

Maybe Anna's not as fertile as Michelle? I DO know that Mack seems to be benefitting from having lots of one on one with Mom. She has a large vocabulary and speaks clearly. If the reason is that Josh doesn't want to have as many kids, maybe it's because as the oldest he best remembers just how lean the lean times were. He's had a taste of nice things and may not want to go back to wearing other people's castoff shoes. Even if they're just choosing some space between the kids, the kids seem to be getting lots of one-one-one time with Mom.

tulip said...

It really seems to me, too, that Josh would honestly rather just have a small family. When asked in a recent episode if they were "trying" for more, Anna said enthusiastically and very matter-of-fact "Yes", while Josh said nothing and just sat there-didn't even nod his head in agreement.

Another trip to Silver Dollar City? These people really have nothing better to do. I don't see how they're supposedly such great role models. Josh brags about owning his own busines, yet most of everything he shows off on Instagram is narcissistic & prideful-hobnobbing at political events, eating out, goofing around and going on date nights. Amy is another-26 years old, living at home with her parents and posting pics of herself posing for the camera, hanging out with friends, bumming around with her boyfriend, and painting her nails. I know a few young women in their mid-twenties, and their lives are nothing like that, yet her followers think she exudes something amazing they are desperate to look up to. I also know a small business owner in his late 20's, and this guy has worked hard-and still does!, no time to take pics of his mid-afternoon snack and take off on a bus tour for a political candidate running for office in another state.

sandi said...

Rainbow,I agree it's good,it's just that Josh lives pretty liberally under quite a consevative banner.Say one thing and as long as it's said, that's all that matters.Quit pulling our leg is all I'm trying to say.JMO.

Wait. A Duggar running for public office? A person who has been raised to shun the real world due to its evilness then wants to be in charge of that evil world? Duggar Logic rears its ugly head once again.

With Michelle's pathetic home schooling, I'm afraid the Duggarettes are prepared for nothing but failure in the real world.

WHAT in his ridiculous upbringing would prepare John David for Alderman for anywhere but at some celestial/heavenly post?

hello said...

I agree with Seriously? about John David running for public office. Who would vote for anyone running that didn't have an education? If he won, he would have had to face real issues outside of Duggarland. Would he have tried to get alcohol sales banned in convenience stores that Michelle tried to do while Josie was in the NICU fighting for her life? Jim Bob and Michelle have their kids exactly where they want them, uneducated and unprepared to live in the real world.

Friends usually have things in common. The Cake Doctor looked to be around Anna's age, if she already had children they were probably close to her kids age, and it's natural to develop a friendship with someone who shares our beliefs or has a common interest. Acquaintances, on the other hand, are people you might chit chat with at the store, the library or at a home church but you're not going to call them when you're goofing up a cake and they have to sign a disclaimer before they can help you out.

Michelle and Jim Bob have always said the Duggar women have chosen to wear skirts. I have always said the Duggars look beyond the clothes people wear and what's in their hearts. The pictures are concrete proof that the Duggars are willing to associate with women who wear jeans.

Melissa said...

well from reading the blog entry and seeing the pictures, it appears that this was another day where Michelle was with the little ones. I do hope that this is a common thing where she can be home with them (and maybe for their episodes, they focus more on the "big" stuff like field trips and vacations so that's what we "see"). I did notice that little Jordyn looks so sad.. and I thought it's a shame that she was standing there by Michelle wanting attention and Michelle is entertaining yet another guest... I really wish they would stop this reality show for the sake of the kids and quit having so many people over to visit all the time... Those little ones need one on one time with Mommy. Perhaps when the older boys/girls finally move out, the younger ones will receive the attention they deserve. I feel bad for the middle group of boys, too (Jason, Jed & Jer, Justin, little Jackson). It seems like they just kind of do their own thing.

Melissa said...

I like how the little girls are wearing the tights with the sweater dresses. Definitely more appropriate for them as they are playing around the house.

Beth Anne said...

Re: "The pictures are concrete proof that the Duggars are willing to associate with women who wear jeans."

I think most of us on this blog would agree that the Duggars would not LITERALLY not associate with a female because said female is not wearing jeans. I mean, what would they do, scream "Get out of here!" in a person's face? I certainly don't feel that's the case! And I don't think Michelle would say to a person planning to visit, "Please abide by our dress code and wear a skirt and long hair."

I think the bigger picture issue many of us have is that the skirt wearing is an arbitrary rule established by their spiritual "leader" Bill Gothard, along with many other rules designated to make one more holy or pleasing to the Lord. All of these rules speak nothing to what's in someone's heart. There was a link a few months back to a beautifully written letter of a former ATI/Quiverful member who spoke of the angst many adherents experience due to all the rules, and how there was significant pressure within families and the community to adhere to the rules, while shunning those who did something "unholy," such as listening to Christian rock or something. This individual then spoke of the wonderful experience of accepting God's love as a free gift and living by grace.

Would Jinger be "allowed" to put on a pair of jeans during a normal day? Cut her hair into a bob, because she felt like it? These are the more pressing questions and concerns...

Elspeth said...

To use a Baptist expression turned back against the Duggars, their rules are of man not God.

Just like the Pharasee praying loudly so that others might see, they've put their emphasis on the wrong thing.

sandi said...

I have to say I think Jim Bob and Michelle are internet savvy enough to realize they can use it to their advantage. That said,I wonder if they would have even bothered with this family if they hadn't had a blog? Possibly so,but I see them having Ashley and co. over as an internet photo/blogspot op more than anything else. (of course they would never say to their face they don't approve of women wearing pants!). Why else would Jim Bob go to the trouble of giving them Michelle's no. and her answering a stranger ASAP on the spot? It shows she monitors her phone frequently, and thus 'works' in a sense, all the time.IMO the agenda behind it is to get themselves and their family more 'out there' and more well- known,to get the ratings up,and possibly to get Jim Bob's name out there more, should he decide to get into politics again (likely, imo).Let's face it,not everyone watches the show or knows of him and their family.
The Duggars know these ppl will likely take pics and blog about their experience in meeting them, and it's a real freebie as far as advertising themselves online goes.TLC may even encourage this sort of thing.Gone are the days where Michelle takes the little ones and goes door to door, knocking, talking to families, handing out fliers and tellig ppl about Jim Bob and their family/political agenda.Nowadays they know they can just let others come to them, and it works just as effectively (if not moreso). So I wonder how these ppl would have felt if they'd realized there was an agenda to having them over;would they have perhaps felt used, instead of flabbergasted and enamoured? Maybe.JMO.

Watching these youtube videos just makes me more upset. The three littlest girls have to sit there for the big "family" interview. at least Anna had the good sense to keep her kids out of it (unless she and the kids weren't invited to sit for the interview since it was about Jim bob & michelle's 19 kids)
The second video: once again we have to see the younger kids being dragged around to touring sites that are inappropriate for their age. Josie, Jordyn, and Mack were obviously scared.
I'm so over it- Duggar Family if you are reading this- quit selling your kids out and taking them all over the world- keep them in their quiet environment at home where they can spend time with YOU! that's what they want, not a video camera shoved in their face!

tulip said...

The first one was actually kind of amusing-no video on the laptop to keep the little kids looking perfectly well behaved, taking every opportunity to climb all over and falling off the bench. Jim Bob & Michelle in their royal blue shirts, again. Jim Bob talking about real estate and construction, failing to mention big TLC paychecks. Interesting to see a Japanese talk show-the host kind of reminded me of Regis Philbin, LOL!

You must remember this is the same state and area where Jim Bob served as a member of the House and he only has a high school education so apparently it isn't hard to run for office and in some cases win, with an obvious lack of education. I don't think that lack of education is John David's problem. He comes off as such an introvert. The fact that his family has been in the public eye for the last 7 or so years probably also doesn't help him win many supporters.

Josh generated 511 comments after posting on Instagram a sign pic "Keep working, millions on welfare depend on you!" #truth

The "truth" about he Duggars just keeps revealing itself...Sad.

It seems so apparent that these people have no clue about the real world around them, just living in their little bubble, oblivious to what so many struggle with on a daily basis. All they can do is post stuff like this, or stand on the side of the road with 'abortion kills children' signs, while making sure to pose for the camera with a big "look at me" smile on their face. Again, so sad.

tulip said...

No, I don't remember having seen a Christmas tree. Lights, evergreen garland, Happy Birthday Jesus banner, but not a Christmas tree. However, in the early days of the first specials, I remember they filmed at Christmas and did show them getting a tree-it was a real one, and made sure to mention they would be planting it outside after Christmas was over. I don't know if they did that just for the show, because I don't recall having seen one since.

Rainbow68 said...

Re: Christmas trees. There is a small, small group of Christians who take the Scripture passage Jeremiah 10:2-4 (I like the NIV version of the Bible) to justify NOT having a Christmas tree. I think it's another example of extracting a couple of verses to justify a strange hill you've decided to die on. Don't remember seeing them buy a tree, but it was probably a long time ago and I just don't remember. Have never seen one in the house.

So no one has to look it up, I'll post the Scripture:

"Do not learn the way of the nations or be terrified by the signs of the heavens, though the nations are terrified by them. For the practices of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with a chisel. They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter."

Don't know the Duggars or Gothard's stand on Christmas trees. I couldn't imagine not having a tree!

The Japenese videos. In ther defense, this is a new American freak show in Asia. Michelle, who is normally comfortable baby talking her way through public speaking and interviews, looked nervous, weirdly fake smiling sith big eyes, and even fake laughed at the Japenese host when he said something and the audience laughted. She fake laughed like it was the funniest thing she had ever heard, even if it was in Japanese, it was hilarious!

What's more boring than the Duggars doing laundry? Watching them on a Japenese freak show smiling and pretend to laugh at their jokes even if they don't speak Japenese.

Michelle had on too much pink blush, back to the classice mullet (which I personally think now she should not change, its really her style and we would honestly miss it) Jimbob and Michelles clothes look stupid. He's too dressed up in the same ole suit he wears and she is in a ragged blue shirt.

On serious note:
Jimbob lied about his income
Lied about he and his sons working in construction
No mention of Jubilee sad passing, criticism etc

I get it that Duggars are news to this market. But this isn't the Today show, it wasn't even Ellen. It was like the old Rikki Lake talk show.

We have seen ALL the kids clean up a broken glass, trashed out house and John David bulldozing wood to get a free piece of land.

We have NEVER seen Jimbob "and his sons" work in the construction business. THAT IS A LIE!

Stephanie said...

When my kids were little they just went in the old pull the curtain voting booths with me. No one is going to get a babysitter just to vote, except maybe Michelle Duggar.

Stephanie said...

I agree. No mention of TLC big bucks. I left a lengthy comment to post below but would like to add that Jimbob lied in that interview because he never thought America would see it.

The ommision TLC paycheck was a lie and saying "my sons and I work in construction" is a lie. That lie burns me up. John bulldozing crates and bunch of children cleaning up that kitten house is not his boys doing construction. Its free labor from adults who don work/school and children. That one skilled laboring found that one kitten remember?

None are licensed contractors, electricians, plumbler, heating & air, dry-wall, septic tank, brick layers etc.

I believe the Duggar GIRLS know how to lay ceramic floor tiling. I don't think the boys even have that knowledge or skill much less any other.

We've seen them do lots of construction work. You don't have to work for XYZ Company to earn money doing construction work. You do some of it yourself, and have professionals to do what needs to be certified or verify that what you've done is certifiable, that's being in the construction business. House flipping does involve some construction business. Not every country understands the concept of house flipping, but most do understand what construction business is. Sometimes I say I work for a fast food restaurant, sometimes I say I'm in retail food sales. It's about spin doctoring things for the group you're taking to.

The "Duggar Christmas" is a vintage 7 or 8 minute clip on the Discovery Health site, and I don't think the footage ever actually made it into one of their specials. They go get the tree, bring it home, but they never show any of them decorating it, they just skip to showing it already decorated with ornaments-one front and center showcasing a picture of Jim Bob & Michelle. They are also shown "Christmas shopping" at Walmart, but what's really funny is Jana explaining how she's sewing an outfit for each of her sisters for Christmas...the "outfit" is a little house on the prairie dress, complete with petticoat, apron and bonnet! They also go shopping for their Christmas dinner at Aldi. (guess they decided to pick up a case of frozen burritos while they were there, because that's what was topping off the cart.)

Stephanie said...

Real Estate business? Yes. Construction business? NO.

I still consider Jimbob a liar. Jimbob said in the same Japanese interview that he's in real estate. That is the truth, and flipping houses is under the umbrella of real estate. I stand by my statement that Jimbob and/or his sons are not in the construction business. He made it sound like all his big sons John, Joseph, and Josiah and himself are skilled construction workers. That is not true. They clean houses and buy and sell houses. I mentioned above all the skills that they don't have. It's a slap in the face to skilled construction workers who are insured & licensed by the state to say Jimbob and some teenagers are construction workers. IMO

This was kinda strange and funny! Screaming with delight when the Duggars house was in sight .

They sounded like Twilight fans on their way to meet Taylor Lautner & Rob Pattenson yelling "TEAM JACOB, TEAM EDWARD" at each other.
Even I would be excited to meet them, but Michelle and Jackson Duggar? Just makes me laugh. LOL

Patrice said...

I agree. Hero-worshipping the Duggars is beyond ridiculous. The blog reminded me of the mom and two kids who showed up at the house when the entire family was sick with strep. Michelle said "you might catch strep from us!" and the woman said something to the effect of "Who cares? It's from the DUGGARS!" I really don't understand people making heroes and role models out of these Arkansas hillbillies. Their only "skill" is over the top baby-making, and even rabbits can do that!

Also, I vote in TX so I'm not sure how the laws compare

A blogger visited the Duggars a couple of Fridays ago (11/9) as Jim Bob and Michelle were preparing to leave (to Wisconsin, I later found out) for a speaking engagement.

There is a picture of Jordyn that is so sad your heart will break. She truly looked like a "lost girl." Hannie looks more and more like Joy every time I see a new picture, down to the freckles she's now getting.

Jinger was playing piano, but Michelle confirmed "many" of the other girls were at a "Bill Gothard seminar." Coincidentally, there was a girl's indoctrination camp going on two weeks ago (11/3-13). Dying to know who was on the "naughty" list this go-round. Jessa was pretty mouthy during the last series of shows and Jana's now a counselor, so I'd guess at least those two, probably Joy as well, since she's still not completely "broken."

Also, semi-Duggar related, Sarah Pope, the gal whose baby Samuel was in the NICU with Josie went into premature labor again last Friday at only 24 weeks with no updates since then. Send best wishes/prayers/whatever you do. Hopefully, they were able to stabalize her and keep little Annalee in there a little while longer. I don't want to think the worst. :(

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! :)

Actually Sarah isn't quite in labor yet. She's having contractions, last report she hadn't begun dilating. Hopefully labor will wait a few more weeks. Every day helps Annalee.

I really liked the Popes-really hope the pregnancy can last a little longer. Things like this really make me see how the Duggars seem to have already taken Josie's health for granted, in other words, all precautions aside-traveling abroad (twice in a year), lack of safety/even basic kid-proofing, getting knocked over by a door opening, and allowed to crawl all over the counter/dining room table...at least that's what they're showing the world on TV.

Amy's Instagram posts are just off the charts-all the back and forth confrontations about hunting, Amy posing with Reed's trophy, and Reed sticking up for Amy after she tweeted that animals don't have feelings-The Duggar pride is really coming out now...one post of a Bible verse, another egging on the critics by shouting out to PETA holding big ol' bags of red meat and posting more pics of their hunting excursions...seriously? So Sad.

Why does Jim Bob always need to talk about his dad like that?, even more so now that he's passed on. He could simply say that they had hard times and his mom had a solid spiritual foundation that encouraged the family, instead of giving so many details about how his dad had no spiritual focus, and making it sound like he brought all the hardships to the family because of it. And, then, making it sound like his own family is so great because they do have spiritual focus (and they're doing all the right things).

That vid made my head hurt.I find Jim Bob and Michelle to be very judgemental. And I don't think Jim Bob is doing what God says to "honor thy mother and thy father". His father is not here to defend himself, and idk if he talked that way when he was alive (?), but certainly it is neither Jim Bob's nor Michelle's place to judge why those things happened. They might have happened anyway.Certainly there are plenty of Christians out there now who have fallen on hard times;being a Christian does not guarantee that won't come about. One could just as easily,on that note, claim that all of Michelle's pregnancy problems and c-sections were caused by lack of faith and not walking with God,but that doesn't make it so.Thumbs down to them for that.Grace is not about works,it is about faith. They make it sound like if you live perfectly, you won't ever have any problems and you'll have abundance to the hilt...like lots of materialism, like they have.Sorry, that's not what it's all about.JMO.

More ignorant Duggar Think - when bad things happen it is due to lack of faith. WHAT KIND OF GOD punishes lack this for nothing more than a 'lack of faith'? We expect more from humans than this tit for tat Duggar god.

Intellectual, spiritual weaklings like the Duggars seem to need that false sense of security - that, so long as they are uber conservative god will protect them. As for those who endure hardships within the family or outside the family - they have only themselves to blame according to Duggar Think.

It is something less than intelligent to use the Duggar equation: the stronger the faith in the MOST absolutely nonsensical, the holier the person is assumed to be. This is laughable IMO.

Using the Duggar's own purported moral compass, isn't speaking poorly of a deceased dad an offense against 'honor thy father and mother'?

The Duggars are just typical reality show fodder. That is to say completely bogus.

Michelles answer:
Michelle and her kids are reaping the wonderful benefits of Jimbob being raised by a "single mom" she says this without lower her eyebrows for 10 minutes straight and whispering.

Question: how to keep a great marriage
Answer: don't go to bed angry

Take notes D 19. You can totally bash your father or national TV and say you are bringing others to Christ. But first wait til your dad can't speak to defend himself.

Re: .They make it sound like if you live perfectly, you won't ever have any problems and you'll have abundance to the hilt.

You are totally right! And what JimBob is saying is wrong, as well as dangerous. Did they never read the book of Job in the Bible? It's all about a faithful man who lost EVERYTHING but retained his faith in God. In fact, I think the Duggars have missed the entire point of Christian living...which is to love and honor God and love each other, despite your life's circumstances. Jesus preached of hard times to come for his believers and never promised a lucrative T.V. show or 10,000 square foot home if you just follow x, y, and z rules (curly, long hair, no kissing until the altar, etc.). I hope someone JimBob trusts and respects quietly pulls him aside and calls him out for dissing his father again and again and again....

As far as the Duggars following all of the rules leading to all forms of prosperity: I've known too devoted Christians who have suffered very hard time in a myriad of ways: health problems, death of children, depression, job loss, etc. The Bible is very clear that everyone will experience pain. Also, not allowing their children to express emotions (Jinger wanting to live in a big city) like disappointment, etc by reminding them to be "content" makes them stuff their emotions. A lot of the book of Psalms is complaints. The Duggars need to let their kids be themselves and express their feelings.

The last food pics he posted were tater tot casserole and a caramel frappacino...real healthy.

It really is sad that both Jim Bob & Michelle talked about Grandma as a "single mom"...nobody's perfect, I'm sure his dad was ashamed when things happened and he couldn't provide for his family. And then his last days being shown on TV pushed in a rolling desk chair to his birthday cake wearing only one slipper. I agree, I wish Grandma wouldn't allow the continued disrespect for Grandpa.

Yep from what Ive seen Jimbob hated his father, made his last days hell on earth, and now slamming his memory. This isn't honoring his father one bit. His religion is completely in vain if he doesn't even follow the Bible's teachings. The Duggars are sad disgusting and very immature Christians Imo. Mature Christians do not belittle others or esteem themselves above others. He also uses his mother and children as slaves and wife as a brood mare, and I've yet to see him do any work. He straw bosses his sons but never does his share. John David is the only man that works in that family. I've no respect for Jimbob or Michelle.

Memo to The Patriarch: Having a husband that is not quite able to make ends meet doth not a 'single mom' maketh.

It is insulting to actual single, working (outside the home) moms to compare their challenges to a woman who has a loving husband to, if not at least help support the family financially, be a positive presence in the home.

To compare the elder Mrs. Duggar to moms who raise children entirely on their own WHILE working full time outside the home to keep the kids fed, clothed, and cared for is yet another indication of just how ignorant The Patriarch is.

I like to think the election results may be an indicator that the pendulum has begun to swing away from idealizing the Duggar-type spiritual, emotional, and certainly intellectual shallowness. I am hopeful Americans have raised the bar as far as expecting more of ourselves than buying into this super sappy and nonsensical Duggar Think concept of life and religion.

How ridiculous. Has JimBob's sister Deanna ever spoken out to agree or refute these stories? I do hope the Duggars get this back from their kids. The "ideal" childhood they think they are providing for their kids really is not ideal at all.

Beth Anne said...

Re: "can someone please help me understand where Oh Patriarchal One gets off dissing his dad's financial short comings?"

In JimBob's warped mind, his dad's financing shortcomings were related to his dad's spiritual shortcomings...his dad was not Godly enough in JimBob's mind, hence the financial difficulties. JimBob may or may not remember the lean times with the second-hand shoes, but is too dense to realize that he only lives in a huge house and has a huge income NOW because TLC thought his family was freakishly large and paid him to tape their lives. Rather, he believes his version of Godliness resulted in his abundance of riches...I say his version of Godliness because the Gothard rules are not what I would call truly Christian; they are legalistic to the hilt.

So, JimBob can get all puffed up about how HIS family has it good because HE is so perfect as a spiritual being, instead of realizing that the dog-and-pony show and his willingness to literally sell out his kids' privacy is what is bringing in the big bucks.

MandySue said...

Okay...I so want to do research on Gothard and compare his rules to the Bible and show how he has twisted it. Of course in the process I want to research the Duggars and their ideals, show how they repress their children and disrespect a dead father who can no longer defend himself.

They have said more times than anyone can count that they aren't "morning people"...actually, it's called being lazy. Staying up late into the night posting a pic of "2 am", taking your 3 yr. old & 1 yr. old shopping at 9 at night, and cruising around to fast food restaurants as midnight is approaching just adds to the many examples we've seen. The Duggars "homeschooling" allows them to lounge around late into the morning without having the discipline that so many people have to have, without a choice, because they need to be at their jobs everyday. Josh's carlot doesn't even open til 10 am, and I bet he isn't the first one there unlocking the doors. How many times has there been an episode about them going on The Today Show, showing them laying around in bed til the very last minute, having to literally pull the kids out of their beds, and walking around like zombies, at the oh so awful early bird time of 5:30 in the morning? (Over half the country is already dressed and on their way to work.) A lot to ask, I guess, for the opportunity to promote themselves, all in the name of keeping the TLC gravy train a rollin'. Good point, but remember on Josh & Anna's honeymoon she said she was a "morning person" and had their condo all cleaned up, beds made, etc., well before Josh woke up. I doubt much has changed. Anna probably heads to bed early and hopefully puts the kids down when she goes to bed most nights, and is up with them pretty early, all 3 of them dressed and fed (and Anna's hair perfectly curled with the barrel roller and makeup applied) hours before Josh crawls out of bed.

Unfortunately for Anna, I imagine there are some 2am "wake up calls," if you catch my drift. Blessings have to be made sometime! The lack of a pregnancy announcement makes me wonder if she's been rolling over and saying no at times.

She's not supposed to and given the dreck she posted on her IG yesterday, comparing a bacteria from Mars to a fetus, she's certainly pro-baby, but making them at 2-3am, especially if you went to bed around 10-11?

Just say no, Anna. Just.say.no.

Re: the curling iron. I was just referencing for brevity. I made an assumption everyone would get it. My bad.

The new fundie style that seems to be cutting across Gothard/VF/IFB (the Bateses would be both #'s 1 and 3) is the 2-3" barrel curling iron. Even Jinger seems to have let the tight perm go (thank goodness) and is favoring the looser curls. It's either that or the flatiron; Michelle is actually using that these days! (Check out the Thanksgiving pics on Picasa)
https://picasaweb.google.com/101532170424444521371/Thanksgiving2012

The older girls (aside from Joy) all vascillate between the loose curls and the flatiron. I even saw a picture of Jinger with her hair straightened (she looked awful; the loose curls are a good look for her).

Sorry I wasn't clearer.

PS Duggars (probably Jinger): ix-nay on the fish-eye-ay lens-ay. Those were some god-awful shots.

The Thanksgiving pics ARE bad!-Definitely not flattering, to say the least. In the big group photo, it looks like Josh is standing there holding Michael making some kind of announcement, where everybody is smiling/laughing (Josh is not that funny), while Anna & Josiah look to be texting. Michelle's pic shows her hair looking shorter, straight, and pulled back in that half-up, half-down style with full bangs-looks like a style an 8 year old would wear-When she was at the salon, they needed to actually show her how to style her hair too, not just doing it for her. Josiah looks really thin and wearing that purple polo again. Jill looks odd (maybe it's the lens), like she's lost more weight. And why do so many of them seem to be sitting around looking at/texting on their iphones?-but, the Duggars are such great examples!...and Duggar style reigns-coon skin cap, gun control/fire dept. t-shirts, and full length shots of girls standing there in bare feet. Many food pics of the Thanksgiving spread, plates piled high and stuffing their faces, but no photo of everyone gathered around the table saying a Thanksgiving prayer-they probably all stood around or ate on stools off their styrofoam plates and plastic forks.

Nancy said...

What's strange is that there was no sign of Jana or any of the kids younger than Jason (of the coon-skin cap), except for Mike. I can understand a kids' table, but this is the family that defiantly homechurches with the entire family.

They were nowhere to be seen. Where was Josh's oldest kid? Maybe they were forced to eat early and went down for naps? But the kids down to 6 year old Hannie are too old for naps. Maybe the playroom? But why no shots of them eating, or...anywhere?

PS: Josh is on HIS phone during his speech or whatever he's doing. It doesn't appear that half the people are even paying attention, Anna (on her own phone) included.
