There is an answer why the Duggar show is still on. For the second quarter of the year, it was TLC's tenth ranked show.

Sadly, I have finalized my thoughts on Joys role in the family.

That warehouse full of junk. Mattresses and mens underwear? Really? How gross!

Anonymous said...

My thoughts on tonight's episodes:
How lovely of TLC to show the clump of poop fall out of Josie's clothes. Gee thanks.
Poor Jana looks depressed.
From last week's episode, did anyone else notive Jim Bob push Josh down the steps when they were trying to move up the couch or piano, I can't remember which?

Stephanie said...

Annas "trip" driving Josh's lunch to work, did anyone notice the wall clock when Anna was putting Marcus in his carseat? It said 3:20. TLC please try a little harder. Maybe just maybe they hung a clock that doesn't work or needs batteries but I don't think they would have a junk clock hanging on the wall that doesn't work.

I love, love, love their new home. It's pretty and big and Anna looks comfortable for the first time in their marriage. Her parents seemed very happy for their daughter unlike Michelle and Jimbob who seemed jeaolous about the entire move.

Mr. Keller said something like "your dining room table fits"

I hope the Duggars will PLEASE stop praying about adoption! If God hasn't put it in their hearts by now, the answer should be NO! Adopted kids need parents who WANT them as much as they would want birth children. It seems as though they are considering adoption because they are near the end of fertility. This advise comes from a couple who considered adoption as our FIRST CHOICE and we have three wonderful children, through adoption, who know they were and are our first choice, not second to fertility. If they don't have a desire to adopt, I wish they would stop asking God to give them that desire.

Judy said...

I doubt they are actually seriously considering adoption. I think it's just another thing to say. And no one's going to give them a baby anyway. It's very hard to qualify for adoption and I doubt they would.

Special Ed Lady said...

We adopted twice. It is hard, and agencies tend not to approve families, with so many children. Childless couples are moving heaven and earth to get a child. That is very selfish on their part.

Willow said...

I agree they are selfish about the adoption idea. They could donate to orphanges and help many -- but they wouldn't have that control over others that they so seek. JMHO as always. Sorry to be so harsh (kind of).

Pam said...

I also think their age will play into the adoption. My brother and his wife adopted both of their children. When they adopted the 2nd child they were mid 40s and they said they were the oldest the agency would consider. Plus, they both had to have full physicals to prove their health.

hello said...

I really hope they don't try to adopt. The older girls have enough kids to raise without them bringing another child into the family. If they did adopt what would Michelle say in her opening for the show? Yes that's nineteen kids and I gave birth to every one of them except for the latest one. That one I adopted so you can call me Saint Michelle and keep those mother of the year awards coming.

Rudy Tecat said...

So, what do you think the Duggars' response will be to the recent DC troubles (the Navy Yard shooting, and the woman who tried to ram the White House with her car)? Do you think they'll still consider DC safe enough to Josh and Anna and the children?

Special Ed Lady said...

Here in Ohio, you cannot be more than 40 years older, than the child you are adopting.

Pam said...

I could be wrong, but didn't Michelle say they put the "new baby" in with the girls? Meaning her and JB are sleeping while the sister mom's take care of the newest blessing?

Wow, now Josh has put himself out there as a motivational speaker. His fee is only $10,000, plus 2 business class plane tickets, plus lodging, plus meals, plus ground transportation. I am at a loss for words to even try and understand this. Josh really does think a lot of himself.

And since Michelle and Jim Bob have said they are actively trying for baby #20, are they doing something different than all the other times? I thought since Josie they have been trying, so I'm wondering if she's on fertility drugs. Well, time will tell. If you see an announcement down the road that they are going to be on the Today Show, I'm sure it will be baby #20 and not Jill's impending engagement.

sandi said...

If Michelle uses fertility meds,it can't make her produce any more eggs than she already has.I think it might help with ovulation,iow-getting one to mature,if she has any left, but overall,it can't make her produce more.

Anonymous said...

I think Jim Bob and Michelle are scared to death that they won't be able to make baby #20. "19 Kids and Done" isn't much of a show. The gravy train will grind to a halt. Their identities will be shaken. One child already moved away and others may very well follow. Michelle's whole existence has been about pregnancy and having a newborn. Now what?

Leigh Ann said...

" Michelle's whole existence has been about pregnancy and having a newborn. Now what?"

That's the problem, her whole mission in life is having babies. She's at an age where that's not going to happen anymore. Not only does she have to deal with this change in her life she has a husband who can apparently think of nothing else except having another baby. If she saw her mission as raising children, she'd be OK. She has another 14 or 15 years of that (I can't remember if Josie is three or four). What she needs is for Jim Bob to lay off the pressure to have another baby and some good counseling to see her through this stage of life. A lot of women at her age are going through a change in their role in life, seeing their last baby out of the house and having to figure out what the next step in life is.

Londonbridges said...

I agree that JimBob is very concerned about future blessings. The Bateses are providing the viewers with courtships, an up-coming wedding and probably grand-babies in the near future. What can the Duggars come up with to be at least one step ahead of their dearest friends? Makes one wonder......

Leigh Ann said...

And that's what the Duggars ought to be focused on -- the kids they have and what they're doing. If another baby comes along, they'll be thrilled, but they ought to be thrilled with the kids -- and grandkids -- they have.

Anonymous said...

Josh is a motivational speaker? That's rich!

The 10K appearance fee, plus business class(!) travel for 2 (I guess he rates a "person" now - chaperone - cuz' Anna's home with the kiddos) and expenses, is telling.

He's clearly jettisoned the buy-used-and-save-the-difference mindset and given his whole heart to the plush life of a DC lobbyist.
I mean, look at the $$$ anniversary dinner out, huge house, and multiple vehicles.

That's all fine and his choice. But I heard his FRC radio broadcast and it was sad and he's really green. He better get some honest feedback and training if he wants the speaking gig to work.

Leigh Ann said...

What can he motivate anyone to do? Usually motivational speakers have been through something and have something encouraging to say. He survived being the oldest of 19 kids, that's certainly something but nothing that's worth $10,000 and expenses. I might throw in a few dollars for a loving offering but that would be it.

The Duggars at the Values Voter Summit (sponsored by Josh's "wonderful" employer). All the BSC Tea Party peeps are headline speakers at this thing.

Herein, JB compares the "troubles" in the US today to the Halocaust.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QU46Q38rgRw

Screechy violins, a shift in the cast of the "I've Been Redeemed" song, and JB's entire speech to the FRC audience. Michelle was sick, hopefully not with morning sickness! No sign of or explanation why Jill or the little girls were absent. Starting Monday, they're on a campaign blitz for the Tea Party candidate running for governor in VA, so they're all in DC.

I really do hope Josh and Anna do well. I haven't seen any of the new season but it sounds like Josh is finally able to make some independent decisions. He'll make a few mistakes, all young people do. Although most people his age don't have three kids, maybe one. Hopefully the novelty will wear off and he'll settle down. I wonder, too, if he'll realize just how much kids cost and not have so many. Anna is pretty set on having a houseful, though, she'll have to come to the same realization.

Stephanie said...

Jana was babysitting the little girls. Where was Jill? Did he just forget?

The Growing up Duggar book release was moved until March because they want to announce the Jessa enagagement for sales and ratings and get the Today show announcement.

Jimbob is so stupid, "the holocaust was when they killed alot of Jewish people"

Thanks for that history lesson Jimbob. Of course it is probably more than your own kids know.

Anna, Josh, John, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Jana, and Jill should say no to these performances. It's not cute, they are to old for this and I think the above are over 18. Josiah is almost to old for it to. People think it is cute with the kids, but the little girls were not even there, Anna and Josh and Marcus are their own family now. John looks silly and then the random violin teacher that "taught them everything they know" I would have wore a bag over my head. How random for her to be there? Why weren't Mac, and Michael part of the dog and pony show if Josh and Anna and Marcus participated?

I think it is interesting how Jimbob says every decision he has ever made is because God Himself has personally told him.

Basically, Jimbob decides what is going to do and deams it "God's Will". I don't think it works like that. That kind of talk is what really turns people away from Christianity.

For example. "I am going to have a tv in the house because God laid it on my heart."

"I am going to eat a doughnut because God laid it on my heart."

does it ever stop? Wait, God will tell me when to stop.

Willow said...

What a crock. Josh and Anna did not move away. It was all for show. I suspected this would happen. The whole family - especially Jim Bob and Michelle, are going to be up there all the time, because they all have the politics bug. Josh is their ticket to an in-road of connections, so to speak (or vise-a-versa). I think you guys know what I mean. This is so disgusting. All that crying and sorrow that Josh was "leaving the nest". Yeah, right. He is not "leaving" at all. The big house in DC/MD is probably so they all have a home base there while they travel and campaign and make speeches from now until the next election. They will seek fame wherever they can. I could be wrong, but I just feel this is their real motive. I feel sad for this whole fiasco. I don't think they were in it for "ministry" at all - they wanted back in politics for fame and their ULTRA-conservative agenda. I can't believe REAL politicians want them around. Ugh.

stephanie said...

I agree Willow.
How much money did it cost to follow Santorum? Gas and food. They weren't invited they just tagged along. What was Santorum going to do? Tell them to leave?

Jimbob eventually was leading prayer with Santorum. He wanted to lead the inagural prayer if Santorum had won. He thinks he's Billy Graham.
Josh may have gotten that job due to Santorum and JB is jealous. He wants a political job. His speech was terrible btw

stephanie said...

Since Jimbob doesn't have a real job and never has, how do they provide healthcare? I don't know about private insurance but even before Josie wouldn't they be high risk? Can you even buy personak healh insurance? Can tlc offer them benefits? Older kids aren't students they can't be on parents policy. Who is an insurance expert?

MandySue said...

You can buy personal health care but for them it would be outrageous. Josie might have a hard time because she was a premie.

I think they said they were a part of a Christian network sort do insurance, instead of sending a premium to a company they send it to the person of the month.

If the kids are in college and under 24 they can be covered by most insurance companies. If they are over 18 and not in school they are on their own.

I worked in the benefits department of a company for a while then I did medical insurance billing.
--------------------------

I don't even know why people listen to the Diggars. Why would anyone want them to campaign for them? They have maybe once or twice backed a winning candidate otherwise the people they campaign for lose big.

Willow said...

Stephanie - I loved your analogy of eating a doughnut because God laid it on their heart. So true. Hit that nail on the head!

sandi said...

I would really like to see Jim Bob in a serious debate with a political candidate. This is the reason didn't win for senate, imo.I think he can't hold up a serious discussion or debate without questions that are prewritten and his infanous pre-formed answers.
It was said anytime he was asked to talk about the issues, all he ever did was parade the family out to sing or play their instruments.I do not think he could hold a candle in DC as a politician.I don't think that even most conservatives would back him.jmo.

A few years ago, the Duggars explained that they pay into an insurance co-op of sorts to help with medical costs. I'm not sure if that helped with Josie's medical costs, thought. My niece was born premature (27 wks, 2lb 1oz) and my sister's cost after insurance was over $60,000. As far as medical coverage for adult children, the Affordable Healthcare act lets parents cover their children until he/she is 26, regardless of being in school.

Elvira said...

No doubt Medicaid picked up the majority of the NICU costs. The Duggars will never admit it, but Josie would have qualified and the hospital would have pushed them to apply.

Aaaaand they're off on their campaign odyssey for the Tea Party candidate for governor in VA. They hit up Lynchburg, earlier today, but if you're in a very red part of the state, you might have a chance to see them over the next few days. I know, I know, try to contain your excitement. :D

Are we assuming they are uninvited and traveling on their own $ again? I didn't say unwelcome there is a difference.

Maybe John will get a job. Lets pray Jana meets a nice UVA poly sci major working for the campaign and she is rescued.

IS JESSA WEARING BOARD SHORTS????!!!!!

Beth Anne said...

Re:
IS JESSA WEARING BOARD SHORTS????!!!!!

Yes! Oh my goodness! There is hope yet!

Hate to ruin this lovely moment by being snarky, but it still makes me cringe to listen to the older daughters' talking heads. Jessa sounds like a 14-15 year old just getting into the teen scene than a grown adult, with a mother who brags about the great education her children received at home. (And, no, I am not knocking homeschooling in general, just THIS particular situation with the Duggars.) It concerns me that the older kids seem woefully prepared for grown-up life, but when you spit out the platitudes that your parents drilled into you, and never had the opportunity to analyze and interpret life on your own, I guess that's what happens.

That being said, I hope the girls had an AWESOME time!

Allison said...

I didn't see Jessa wearing board shorts... it may have just been how the skirt was laying. They all have that dress swimsuit so I don't know why she would be...

I think Jana's comment does sort of address their POV for modesty. They don't wear the swimsuits because they don't want to draw attention to themselves, but because they don't want certain body parts exposed. Even if a "regular" bathing suit would blend in more to your usual swimming scene, they are more focused on how much of your body is exposed. Not whether or not someone is looking at you.

Also, since it doesn't seem like they go to your average beach that often, it's probably not that noticeable for them and "their kind." Probably everyone in their community wears those suits so wearing something "immodest" really would attract a lot of attention.

Elvira said...

I didn't see Jessa in board shorts either.

I was thinking about Anna saying she has baby fever....that is so dumb. What she really has is 'being pregnant' fever...she HAS a baby for pete's sake. (Three actually). Hoping she keeps the nursing up...maybe that will widen the gap between the next time she conceives a little one.

tulip said...

Josh's Instagram w/ pic of Anna (actually 2) and she looks quite slimmed down (people commented on that as well.) I'm suddenly a bit worried about her-looks like quite a bit could have been shed in a relatively short period of time. Esp. the last episode she really did look like she was carrying some weight (not trying to sound cruel, esp. after she recently gave birth), but those photos they showed when her & Josh were engaged & just married, it was very apparent how much she's gained after 5 yrs. and 3 babies. Maybe it's the angle of the camera, but these latest pics, her face almost looks a bit sunken in. Hopefully she isn't doing anything drastic, as breastfeeding (as some commented) would not likely show such a significant change.

stephanie said...

Josiah is coming back to his cutie pie self. Braces off with nice smile, some tan, skin cleared up. World of difference.

Allison said...

I agree, Anna definitely looks like she is losing weight compared to what she looked like last year. Her face is thinning out a lot. Maybe they are more active in D.C.? It looked like there was a photo of her with another family in a park. Like a lot of young women, we go through periods of weight gain and weight loss. You can lose only a little weight and have it be noticeable, especially in the face. She looks great!

tulip said...

The only reason I'm calling possible concern to Anna's weight is because of the whole Gothard thing about wives staying/getting slim. I believe there's even something in Ed Wheat's book about wives staying as close to looking to how they did as when they first got married. Whatever the case, there seems to be a big focus on a woman's weight (what if someone was "overweight" when they GOT married?) Hopefully Anna is doing this for HERSELF, and not trying to abide by some Gothard standard, that's all. Overall though, she really is looking good.

Rudy Tecat said...

Anna recently posted another photo on Instagram of old Joshie driving that big old bus, not wearing a seat belt. Way to go, taking responsibility for the safety of your wife and children and yourself, Joshie!

Andrea said...

I agree it looks like Anna has lost some weight. But I also think the poor girl is probably exhausted. Seriously, she's looking after 3 little kids and likely doesn’t have time to shower or eat a decent meal. I feel bad for her and hope that she closes the baby maker for 5 years to recover!

stephanie said...

The question of Michelle taking or receiving fertility treatments. Wouldnt a couple have to be deemed infertile? They do no not qualify. Would it be unethical for s doctor to treat them as infertile?

Go back and listen to kate Gosselin s story. It was no time she was on fertility drugs and I personally think she lied to the doctor saying she was trying longer than she was. Her demanding personality just gives me that impression.

Duggars don't qualify as infertile and I don't think a doc would jeopardize his career for those greedy two people.

So how much do you think Jim Bob is going to have to pony up for monthly premiums for health care? I don't think his income would qualify him for any tax credit. And the whole family can be on one policy since it covers children until age 26.

Please someone from Arkansas give me an idea of what health care is going to cost for that size family from the cheapest to most expensive.

But knowing Jim Bob, he's probably going to pay the penalty instead of paying for insurance. Since they are "actively" trying for #20 and Michelle does conceive (fertility treatments, maybe IVF), everyone is going to want to know if they signed up for insurance.

I live in Virginia which is a red state mostly with the exception of the heavily populated Nourthern VA which pushed for Obama twice turning the state blue.

So we have a hot Gov. Race going on and as the regular readers know the Duggars were in the state with Rep Cuccinelli.

Talks about Jimbobs holocaust speech. When Jimbob was asked to clarify he says "let me clarify, we have since 1973 had 55 million abortions so what we have going on is a baby holocaust".

Jimbob is quoting Huckabee down to the 55 million number I checked.

Candidate Cuccinellis spokesman said "was quick to say they did NOT invite the Duggars to VA and aren't officially affiliated". Sources report the two families have met.

Opposition spokesman said to the Washingtin Post "Cucinelli needs to immediately ask his surrogate to leave VA" also saying "Mr. Duggars divisive hurtful and extreme rhetoric has no place in this campaign for governor".

I knew they were uninvited. But I hadn't seen any official comments until today. Why don't they get the message? Why did Santorum put up with them as much as he did?

Is Jimbob smart for repeating Huckabee or just playing it safe because he isn't intelligent enough to write his own "speeches"?

Glad someone is printing that they are unaffiliated and uninvited.

stephanie said...

I am not good with computer etc can someone post Jimbobs news interview tellin Gov candidatw to drop out of the race while Josh is by his side?
They both put out statements. Can someone post?
I did read the bus tour is sponsored by FRC so Josh has his families expenses fully paid and Jimbob thinks he is a bigtime political playa again. Can't Josh do anything without dad? Just when I thought Josh was getting away.

I would try to post all of this but I'm typing on my phone and can barely get this out.

Trust me it'd incredible and they are really going to get made fun of by others besides us bloggers.

One title of the news interview said "hilarity insues"

Stephanie said...

NBC12 News Richmond
is where the interview with Michelle & Jimbob &Josh are all at the interview. I have only seen the part that Jimbob is speaking.

FRC is sponsoring the Duggar bus tour, therefore they are footing the bill. Josh's spending his employers money within 4 months of his job? wow. Josh should not jeopordize his job for his dad, unless the FRC is asking Jimbob to do this. FRC hasn't asked Jimbob to do anything before have they?

Cucinelli's campaing spokesperson said they were not officially affiliated with the Duggars nor were they invited. My queston is Cucinelli officially affiliated with FRC?

I did figure how to copy/paste their official press releases:

Josh Duggar, Executive Director of FRC Action:
"We are incredulous that a candidate for public office in the United would employ tactics to silence someone who disagrees with him. Asking someone to leave the state because they are supporting your opponent is unbelievably offensive. This latest tactic is an example of the way Terry McAuliffe handles people who disagree with him. The school yard bullying and rude statements he's making today won't sit well with Virginia voters.

He is trying to distract from the news of his investment in an elaborate scheme to rip-off senior citizens and terminally-ill patients, where he raked in thousands of dollars from bereaving families. This man has never been elected to any public office and he definitely isn't fit to serve."

Jim Bob Duggar:
"It's unbelievable that Terry McAuliffe is requesting that my family 'leave Virginia' when we are exercising our freedom of speech. Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has been an advocate for families and our values for many years. His immature request for those who are helping his opponent's campaign shows that he is desperate to distract from the scandal of how he defrauded the loved ones of terminally ill patients.

Terry McAuliffe is upset that we are from out of state. Well, so is he. McAuliffe should simply let the voters decide rather than bullying my family out the state. We are asking that Terry McAuliffe drop out of the race immediately because he is unfit for any public office. Terry McAuliffe has responded by asking that we leave the state. We say, 'You go first.'"

Anonymous said...

His campaign may deny it, but Ken Cucchinelli is using the Duggars to appeal to the ultra right wing fundamentalists out there just like them. These folks believe birth control should be illegal and that a woman's ONLY place is adoringly at her husband's feet while pumping out babies every year. These people spew total falsehoods (such as birth control pills are a form of abortion, and dinosaurs walked the earth with men) and display their absolute ignorance every time they open their mouths. I'm a firm believer in freedom of religion, but not when a group tries to change the law and force THEIR beliefs onto everyone else. Check out what the FRC really stands for--you'll be amazed at the anti-gay, anti-women's rights rhetoric. It's really kind of scary--they want to send us back to some fantasy utopian version of the past that never really existed in the first place.

Rudy Tecat said...

So, how's JB's track record in getting candidates elected? McAuliffe should have invited the Duggars in to campaign for his opponent!

Really? said...

Jim Bob is campaigning for McAuliffe's opponent.

stephanie said...

What's interesting is I have only found this information on Duggar blogs. If you google its kind of hard to find this feud. I think they thought the AP would really pick this up and run with it. I don't think it has brought the publicity they were hoping for.

Cucinelli may have wanted the nursing home story out there more and needed a goat to talk more about it, hence Jimbob volunteered. Have any of you seenGame Change? The candidates dont want to seem negative so they get someone to publicly say what they want just to see if anyone will take the bait. No one is taking the bait from Jimbob. He is such a weirdo to legit policial science reportors at news stations.

Nancy said...

Given the FRC bankrolled the Duggars in VA, they likely used them as the "friendly, aw shucks messengers to deliver the "Swift Boat" tactics regarding what McAulliffe may or may not have done (I don't know enough about it to make a judgment either way).

A poster asked: "FRC hasn't asked Jimbob to do anything before have they?"

Well, yes they have. FRC is the mastermind behind the Values Voter Summit; the Duggars have spoken there for several years (although I believe they missed last year). I'm sure when Perkins saw what the Duggars could do in terms of drawing out the fundies to his conference (at $99/ea.), it wasn't a hard decision to tap Josh to try and use him and cute his little family to get out his message, as repugnant as it is to most of us, even most mainstream Christians.

sandi said...

IMO,I think Jim Bob's connection to FRC and Josh getting this job are unmistakable now.

sandi said...

I don't believe Josh wrote that statement.I think FRC did,and released it in Josh's name.He is just a pawn for them, imo.

stephanie said...

I agree. "Incredulous"? Maybe we missed that episode when Michelle taught them that word and said "repeat after me, incredulous"
Remember her infamous perpendicular lesson? I can't even spell it.

Nancy said...

Oh, Josh is totally a pawn for the FRC, being used because his PARENTS have a television show that he got to start collecting paychecks from once he decided to whore out his marriage. Josh is nothing more than a famewhore and if the FRC is dumb enough to pay him 6 figures for drumming up support for tea party candidates by accessing fans through his instagram to put out the message, so be it.

Geez, the first time Josh was on Tony Perkins weekday radio show, he was addressed first by his association to the show and his status as the oldest of 19 kids! Then Perkins identified him. I think it's pretty clear that the Duggars are pawns, but they are so in need of the spotlight, they don't care how stupid they look in these press releases and their campaign whistle stops.

The uncut video shown on one VA TV station last week in which JB kept trying to get out his talking point and flubbing it up, saying "Oh, they'll edit this out later" just shows the level of delusion under which he operates. No JB, they showed the entire clip to show just what a moron you are. Joke's on YOU!

sandi said...

Yes that was a funny clip! And then Michelle coaxing him to, "just say opponent". I had to laugh.LOL.

Beth Anne said...

Re: Josh is nothing more than a famewhore...

I kind of agree and disagree. I think, like everyone, Josh is a product of how he was raised, and JimBob raised his family to believe they are modern-day Christian super-heroes who are shepherding into this land their version of the "right" way to live.

Josh has an inflated sense of self-importance, via the way JimBob has positioned their family as being extra-blessed, extra-holy, and living at a higher standard that the rest of us. Unfortunately, though many of us had hope that Josh might start to independently analyze life and experience things on his own once he moved out, JimBob has inserted himself so squarely into Josh's life that Josh's actions and decisions still reflect his Dad's thinking and vision.

I think there is still hope that Josh and Anna will have opportunities to learn and grow as they get older and take on their own personas, as well as define their own way of living. Though I find Josh insufferable at times, I feel the slightest bit sorry for him as well, as he hasn't really been given a chance to find himself.

The Duggars are on Netflix. I started watching from the beginning in the interest of"science" ;0) Right now JB is trying to explain baseball. It's kind of like Andy Griffeth's explanation of football without the charm.
It's interesting though, there were plenty of full frontal hugs in the beginning.

Wow I remember that. Most men dream of their boys playing baseball but not Jimbob he has ten sons that didn't even know the rules.

Ben Seewald just posted to his facebook page a new pic of him and Jessa getting all chummy. If they're not engaged yet (this is too casual for an engagement shot), they're certainly being allowed a LOT more freedom to touch than Josh and Anna were.

I also spot earrings! I think this is a Duggar female (born, not married) first.

sandi said...

Wow,earrings, frontal hugs and Ben's arm around Jessa. They sure are trying to appear more hip!

I am noticing that both Jana and Joy were sweet and bubbly several years ago. I think Jana is the prettiest of the girls. As many of you have mentioned, she has lost that sparkle in her eyes. Joy's change really saddens me because she is still so young. I hope they stay in DC for awhile (if they aren't already home).
Jim Bob seems to really love his kids and is so proud of them. It's hard to tell if he's proud of them as individuals or proud of the fact he made them all! He gets more embarrassing as time goes by so that now even Michelle is noticeably embarrassed.

Nana Sew Dear said...

I had to go look at Ben Seewald' s Facebook page. Those sure look like pierced earrings. I also noticed that her top was cut no higher than the ones that Joy was blocking with cardboard years ago. I would be happy for Jessa to get out of Dodge but this boy is far too young. Most 21 year olds would never look twice.

That's at the Duggar compound we reccognize the stairs.

I looked at the Facebook photo, too. I was pleased that Ben and Jessa were NOT wearing matching clothes. :)

I just read something interesting. On the official FB page someone from Australia and someone from England asked when the show would be back on. Each got a reply saying the BBC quit airing it when Josh went to work for whoever he is working for. The person (or people, I didn't notice if the same person posted both) said the BBC has declared the group a hate group. I didn't know the BBC got involved in political stuff like that but what do I know. Is there anyone from BBC land who has heard this?

Leigh Ann said...

I just posted this elsewhere, but I noticed Josh wearing shorts on moving day. The Duggar male never wear shorts so that was a big deal. They were the long, baggy shorts that are popular right now. They're as long as the girls' skirts. If the girls can have bare legs below the knee, why not the guys? But it's not the shorts, it's the independent thinking and making a decision contrary to his raising. Good for Josh!

I just saw a video of Jim Bob at a conference comparing the present political situation in America to the Holocaust. You have a legitimately elected government and universal health care has become law. How does that possibly compare with genocide? This is an ignorant man who has an over-exaggerated opinion of his importance. TLC has done that. If any concerns are warranted, a good look at his family is in order. Yong adults hanging around doing very little with their lives. Young women totally under the control of this mediocre man. They might as well put a burka on them and be done with it.

I don't agree with the Duggar views or FRC, but refusing to air a show because of where Josh works seems like intolerance and discrimination in reverse. The only thing I don't like is Josh got the job because of the show. He didn't have to work his way up.

I also believe keeping politics out of the job environment. I would be upset if a place of employment even asked employs to wear symbols of certain politically correct groups. It would be the same IMO as asking them to wear a cross when some may be atheists.

Crazy Eyes said...

"I also believe keeping politics out of the job environment." - Josh's job is political - FRC is an ultra-conservative political lobby and an arm of the Heritage Foundation. Everyone there has been tested for purity on FRC's political stance and no one is offended by what they say or stand for. The echo in that bubble is too loud to consider other "viewpoints."

I just hope there aren't any gay Duggars. Although , statistically, there could be up to 1.9 gay Duggars. Time will tell.

Happy official Driver's Day, Joy(less) Anna! Just think, you can make a break for it in only two more years.

Who knows, by then Jessa may have chucked the fundie lifestyle and there could be a safe place to run! (A girl can dream)

Since 19 kids is back on Netflix, I've been re-watching the seasons and I never noticed this before but did anyone else notice when Michelle, Jill and Josie were flying home from Israel that it was Jill taking care of Josie and Michelle was snoozing in the row behind them?

hello said...

Michelle seems to think her role is done after giving birth and weaning the baby. Then the sister moms take over. Everytime they are out anywhere Jim Boob and Michelle are walking holding hands while the older girls are dealing with their "buddies". If any of the younger kids need comforting they go to their sister moms instead of their mom. I believe the girls are forced to share a bedroom with their younger siblings so that they will be the ones to deal with their siblings if they get up during the night. I am sure Michelle cant be bothered to tend to her own blessings at night. She is too busy trying to conceive another blessing.

Stephanie said...

Yes. That's Par for the Course.

Stephanie said...

She can't really make a break for at 18. Look at the others. Jimbob "manages" (controls) the TLC earnings so they have no way to take their fair share and leave. They have no education or job skills except for childcare. Childcare jobs pay minimum wage. Jimbob has set those kids up so they will NOT be able to leave.

They are terrorized into believing they have to have a man support them
I guess none of the adult children will question their parents about the money they helped their parents earn over eight years on tv

Re: Everytime they are out anywhere Jim Boob and Michelle are walking holding hands while the older girls are dealing with their "buddies".

That is one of the things that absolutely floored me about the Asia trip. I forget the details of where they were exactly, but they were in a huge, crowded place and JimBob and Michelle were leisurely strolling along, holding hands and smiling, acting like it was their second honeymoon. In the meantime, they have all these small children in the midst of a crowd of strangers, yet no sense of accountability to look back and check up on them or, heaven forbid, hold their young childrens' hands and keep them close to themselves. No, that job went to the sister mommies, and the parents' obliviousness to their blessings' safety left me speechless.

Londonbridges said...

None of the adult children would question their share of TLC earnings. JimBob and Michelle have all power and control over their "blessings". The blessings know absolutely nothing else. Talk about setting your children up to fail. Great job, JimBob and Michelle. JMHO.

Willow said...

Yeah, oblivious to their young children around them; that, way, if one gets lost, its the buddy's fault, not theirs. Clever in so many ways, they are.

What is Michelle's Jurisdiction now??? She needs to take over laundry from poor Granny Mary. I wonder what JB's sister thinks of her mother being the wash woman for 21 people? If I were her I would have an intervention and take her out of there ASAP. That sweet lady deserves a break.

Londonbridges said...

I agree that Grandma Mary should be relieved of her laundry duties. It's a shame that JimBob and Michelle "allow" her to wash all those clothes. She may enjoy doing laundry, but she must be so tired of this job.

Michelle needs to be a mother to every blessing she birthed. Pure and simple. JMHO.

sandi said...

I agree about Grandma, but I'm guessing she doesn't want to live alone, and feels like she needs to 'earn her keep',so to speak.Looks like they could find her something easier to do though.Like setting the table for meals would be more than enough, imo.

Jac&Jil said...

I agree with everyone about Grandma Mary doing the laundry, especially what her daughter Deanna must think. First of all, everyone in that house who is over 16 (yes, this includes the BOYS!) should be responsible for their own laundry. There is no reason that this couldn't happen since the older ones are always at home. This would allow Michelle to handle the laundry for the rest of her blessings.

Since I think that Jim Bob can't control Mary's TLC money, here's my suggestion. Mary, take your money, go and buy a condo in Florida, and live the life you should be living. You've raised your family already. Time for you to be taking some "me" time and not feel guilty about it.

Mary is in her 70's what in the heck is wrong with The Duggars? She should be kicking back and enjoying the rest of her life. If i was her daughter i would just jump in the middle of Jimbob and Michelle...its one thing to help out with the famiy but the Duggars are a huge huge family. Yes those older kids (some grown) should be washing their own dirty duds and Michelle should be in there doing for the kids.. oh i mean "blessings" that she speaks of and wanting more of...RUN GRANDMA D RUN...get that condo and kick back. I dont get these people. I watched the episode when they had Mary out on the ski slope and she fell many times and hurt her leg...this is and was ridiculous. Way to treat the elderly Michelle and Jimboob. Just so long as M and JB get what they want thats what its all about- Now is this very christian? I don't think so. Wash your own dirty duds Duggars!

hello said...

I would like to know what Michelle does all day when she is not busy staring at Jim Bob and kissing him every 5 minutes. She seems so detached from her many "blessings". She showed more emotion towards the baby she miscarried than she does towards her living children. The little kids seek out their sister moms when they need to be comforted. Mary should be able to enjoy being a grandma without all the responsibilities. Can you imagine Michelle in 20 years living with Josh and Anna and all the kids they will have? I am sure she wouldn't appreciate being treated like a slave.

Beth Anne said...

Re: "Mary is in her 70's what in the heck is wrong with The Duggars?"

Totally agree! This is what made me spitting mad when JimBob said something to the effect that he and Michelle had "served" their children, so know it was their children's turn to serve them, a la the preparation and serving of the Anniversary dinner. Yet, his own mother, who raised him and cared for him, is stuck doing HIS LAUNDRY and the laundry of all his blessings.

I don't care how much Michelle praises Mary in her baby-voiced way for helping out and saying what a blessing it is that Mary does laundry duty. Michelle and JimBob both need to stop the laundry madness and allow Mary to enjoy her golden years. Heck, I don't even care if Mary insists she doesn't mind doing the laundry. It's not her place to do it, lest doing her own small batch of clothes, and even then I would say it would be NICE if one someone else did it for her.

Willow said...

I'm not so sure Mary does control her own money. I think in Gothardland, she is expected to live with a male if possible and that he control her money. Since her husband passed, I am sure Jim Bob asserted that responsibility. The problem is, I don't think Mary and her husband were Gothardites before he passed, were they? Does anyone know about that? I would really like to know that answer. She probably lives with Jim Bob instead of Deanna because they guilted her into it. Just my thoughts and suspicions. She may just really love her grandchildren and feel needed.

I doubt Michelle would ever be a Grandma like Mary. She never seemed to help Anna with her little ones, if anything Anna took her kids to the park, cooked meals for them, made ice cream etc. I only saw Michelle care for Mykenzie once, and she yelled at her for scaring Josie. I wouldn't leave my kids with Michelle, they would be climbing on the roof and Michelle would be in la la land somewhere.

sandi said...

No,I'm pretty sure Jim Bob's parents were not Gothard followers. His dad said he didn't agree with them when they kept having babies, and we've all heard Jim Bob say his dad wasn't following the Lord like he should have been (or something to that effect) and thus,he wasn't blessed like he could have been.
Just how much grandma follows the rules,I don't know.I don't recall having seen her wear pants though.I have no idea.

It seems to me that Michelle thinks her job with whatever current "blessing" she is nursing is done she turns them over to the sister moms to do the rest of the work. What? Are you kidding me? Getting them over the nursing phase is short lived. Then she and Jimbo make another "blessing" and Michelles in hog heaven, nursing again. And On and on and on while turning them over to the older girls/young women to be the sister moms yet again and again and again, sister mom my azz they are more of a mother to the kids than Michelle, Strange or does she just enjoy the nursing part? WHAT? Really? TAKE CARE OF YOUR "BLESSINGS" ((TIME FOR YOUR OLDER BLESSINGS TO HAVE THEIR OWN LIVES NOW)) MICHELLE AND JIMBOOB ARE SELFISH, SOMETIME THESE OLDER CHILDREN ARE GOING TO FIGURE IT OUT..HOPEFULLY SOON. Jimboob and Michelle were married and making babies at an age that is younger than some of their older blessings are now, stuck at home doing their parents jobs. They may never want kids after being Trained their whole life to be the Moms. This is not fair and its not right. Yes children should help out in the home but in DuggarLand they take it to a whole new level.

Erin's wedding is today! I am very excited for her. I think Chad is a very nice and normal guy. Josh and Anna were able to see the wedding by doing FaceTime as they drove to TN. They then took a picture with Erin and Chad and her dress is beautiful. To me, it looks like she bought a bigger dress so that it would be higher in the bust, added some cap sleeves and then had everywhere else taken in. Very pretty.

Josh also posted on his Instagram that they arrived in time to trash out their car. Of course it's okay for Josh to do that but I do remember him going on about how he didn't want them to do anything to his car.
