Ben should learn how to cook Jessa's favorite meal.

Jessa learns to cook Ben's favorite meal? Wonder if the fire alarms go off and fills the house with smoke in this one too. Or will it be like when they went shopping with Anna right after her & Josh were married and showed Anna putting 2 small plastic containers of cherry tomatoes in the cart when she's supposed to be planning on cooking for all 19?

Why more Josh & Anna in DC? Ugh. A ski trip, seriously? With 4 yr. old, 2 yr. old? I know they bring the kids because I saw the preview. Josh gets more time off work to go skiing and put another TLC paycheck in the bank. Who's trying their hand at the violin, Michelle or Joy? I don't see why it would be Joy, hasn't she been forced to play since she was a toddler? Wow TLC, what next?

The suspense is killing me! What will the "favorite meal" be? Will it involve tater tots and some kind of main dish with canned ingredients? Will there be any fresh vegetables at all? I'm on the edge of my seat here.

Don't know what she's cooking, but he loves watching, dontcha know? *rolls eyes*

I thought Jessa was the one who was uncomfortable in the kitchen..heck, she couldn't even cook sliced peppers correctly. She clearly stated that cooking isn't her favorite thins and she hasn't done much of it..I doubt that the "blue ribbon" pie that she is shown "serving Ben" is from a bakery...Also, get her hair out of the way...so not good to have hair in your food girl!

CannedSoup said...

Ben and Jessa seem to be very nice people but where is any concern or discussion about their future---such as how to make a living, where is this relationship going, where will we live, how about bank accounts, insurance etc.? Of course, they may discuss those things but TLC never shows them. It seems that type of info would be more helpful to all the young people out there if that is the point of the Duggar gals' book.

They've always had hair over their food, I don't think we've ever seen or heard them mention anything about tying their hair back, esp. when they're shown cooking up a bunch of stuff for guests coming over. Even in the earliest episodes when they're shown putting tater tot casserole in the oven and cooking over the stove, their hair is swinging around and I even saw it touch the food once. Yuck. At Josh & Anna's wedding, the women from the church were shown mixing bowls of crab salad or dip with their bare hands, no clear food-service gloves or gloves of any kind. They may have washed their hands immediately before, but I think as of several years ago health departments are requiring gloves when preparing food for the public like that, as in shoving both bare hands into a bowl filled w/ something made of mayo and other fresh type foods that can cross contaminate. Or, if only because it's just plain gross.

I am sorry to say that I think the health and hygiene practices of this group of people are awful. They don't get to bathe every day, as they have stated, simply because there's too many of them, and yes, poor kitchen habits, too, between the hair hanging all over everything and the sanitation with no gloves, hairnets for food prepared for the public.

Miz Kizzle said...

God kills all the germs before they can contaminate the food. That's part of the service he provides to Quiverfull famlies. And the Bible says nothing about women tying their hair back when they were cookin' up a mess of tater tots to serve to Jesus.

I can't imagine how a portable motor home toilet and 5x5ft bathroom can properly serve 21 people aboard. Their black water tank can't handle that much "action". I'm sure it overflows often and they have to stop to empty it along every trip. That place truly must smell awful. They want to add to that mess with more of them? JB and MOTY, really need some mental health and spiritual counseling by a real minister.

Re:sanitation. What's bothered me most over the years is that garage-turned-pantry. I can't imagine all the mice that place attracts!

Anyone else suspicious about all these "Michelle spending one-on-one time with her younger children" episodes recently? It's kind of like they (the Duggars, TLC, etc.) read this and other message boards about how little interaction and connection Michelle has with the younger ones and - woila!

Kind of like, see, Michelle IS mother of the year! She plays chess with Jeremiah! She does some slingshot thing with James/Jason whoever! She bonds with Joy Anna over violin! How staged can you be????

Anonymous said...

I think this part about Michelle spending time with Joy at her violin lesson is more about Michelle's one on one time with each of her kids, than it really is about the violin. As many people have said, Joy has been on the stage with all the others with her violin since the beginning. The same way Jackson & Hannie have been. They are really stretching to find things for Michelle to do with each of the kids.

Anonymous said...

It's been quite obvious since the start that Michelle does nothing around the house. TLC should stop the kidding. If Michelle thinks she's fooling anyone, I have a bridge I'd like to sell her. She should hang her MOTY head in shame regarding the lazy lifestyle she has been able to get away with and letting her "slave children" do all the work around there. Give her one day without any daughters in that house, let her do it all, and wait and see...she won't want any more children...problem solved! She's a lazy hormonal, bitch.

CannedSoup said...

Yes, actually, I'd like to see a longer segment on how their homeschooling really works---how many hours per day per child, etc. Who keeps track of everyone's work and so forth.

Allison said...

Perhaps the "she" in the "she tries her hand at the violin" is Michelle, not Joy? Another potential hobby to replace babymaking?

Anonymous said...

Once again, Michelle does NOT need to take up a hobby unless it is housework, cooking , laundry and childrearing. That should take up her week and cure her of her hormonal addiction to pregnancy.

I wonder what would have happened in the Duggar household had the oldest blessings been male? Who would have raised the younger ones, cared for them day and night, on trips, etc? MOTY Michelle might have been forced to take care of the blessings she gave birth to. Or maybe not. JMHO.

I hope Anna has a string of boys. Let's see how she can cope with that... MacKynzie can't do it all.Their stupid system is inane

Wampascat said...

If Anna has a string of boys, she'll have the younger Duggar aunts' help as they get older.

Anonymous said...

First of all, the violin session was just as painful to watch, as the rest of the times Michelle was bonding with her kids. Then, what person (Anna)that is going on a ski trip forgets to put on her ski clothes & worse yet has to be reminded of that by her husband?

Anonymous said...

We can only pray not..but I think Michelle would NEVER let that happen and lose her live-in, unpaid household staff. She might have to open a can herself and actually cook and clean.

Anna skiing in a skirt...now I've seen it all. What a dumbo.

Anonymous said...

Once again Baby Josh abandons his wife and children to go skiing with his brother. Anna is stuck with the kids and of course Jana is there to babysit. JimBoobs Slave Girls are doing the work everywhere. The boys occasionally cut the grass or help clean up a house but most often they play and play and play and let the girls cook and clean and raise the kids on a daily basis.....

Tick Tock Tick Tock as the Older Blessings start to leave the nest. I bet Michelle didn't plan on having her slaves go a courtin all at the same period of time. Notice how Jinger is preparing Joy to learn how to make the family bread. She better teach her more than to make bread because her MOTY only delegates jurisdictions. MOTY doesn't do any motherly things like cooking and cleaning.

Did anyone else catch the product placement? So shameless. Josh and Anna were hawking the enfamil toddler milk.

MCL said...

What is up with the product placement scene when Anna was preparing a HEALTHY breakfast? It was for some kind of juice boxes. I felt like it was a remake of the Truman Show.

Leigh Ann said...

I was just going to say that exact thing right down to The Truman Show. That was clearly product placement. And Anna and Josh both sounded like they were voice overs for a commercial.

hello said...

Why did Jinger have to go to DC with Jessa and Ben to act as a chaperone? Jessa couldn't be trusted to go with Ben by herself to visit her brother and sister-in-law? I guess Jessa couldn't be trusted to be in an airport and a plane alone with Ben. Jimboob and Michelle don't trust their adult children to be accountable for their own actions. A

I cringed when I heard Jessa say, Oh, thank you, Ben how sweeeet, when he gave her the roses. How not Jessa. Michelle is wrong for advising her daughter to be anything other than who she truly is..it doesn't work in the long run. Ben, however, is being himself with her....

Even though Josh & Anna only had 3 guests; Jessa, Ben & Jinger, they still sat in the living room, balancing their paper plates & plastic forks, either on their laps or on TV tables. They have a big kitchen or dining room to eat in & they must have real plates & cutlery. Anna also has a dishwasher. You would think an Executive Director & wife would have more class. I know it's only family, but they really need to practice their manners.

Anyone notice the "Blue Bell ice cream gallon" on the table with the apple pie? This is getting ridiculous.

Leigh Ann said...

I didn't notice the Blue Bell ice cream, I'm surprised. That's my favorite! I noticed the TV trays, too. That was weird. Their table is big enough to get five adults around.

Ugh! So what are Morticia Addamms and Lily Munster doing in the kitchen with Jessa and Jinger? Don't want to be mean, but someone, please, help those two!

So glad that Ben looks like his father, Steve Carey..

Like my mother used to say, "Get rid of that hair in the kitchen!"

The product that they were obviously advertising was next step formula in juice box form. I doubt they were sent the product probably staged by Josh to try and get product sent to them for Free of course. I know they want to leave things up to God but I wouldn't be surprised of Anna was secretly on birth control. She seems really frazzled. They should be pregnant again if not or they only are initimate when they want to try for a baby. I don't know what it is but Josh has always creeped me out.

Anonymous said...

OK, this is really awful but one of Ben's sisters reminded me of Pennsatucky from Orange is the New Black.

Leigh Ann said...

I can't believe I missed the Blue Bell. I usually have a radar for it!

Anonymous said...

I'm re-watching this episode and it seems to me that the older girls are all wearing some type of heart pendant necklace. Did anyone else notice this? Just wondering if it was something they all did independently of each other or if it was Jill's necklace that sparked a trend with the older gals.

Leigh Ann said...

I really don't see Anna using artificial birth control but I don't think Josh and Anna go at it like Jim Bob and Michelle do. And doesn't Josh travel a lot? He may not always be around at the right time. Also, Josh is probably realizing just how much kids cost. I don't think Michelle and Jim Bob realize how fortunate they are that they've done so well, even before the show. I know things were tight, but they got into real estate when the market was really good. Not everyone is going to have that kind of luck. I don't think any of those boys are going to be able to support super-sized families and I think they're going to realize it around about the third or fourth kid. Also, maybe God sees how frazzled Anna is and is giving her a break. Not everyone who "leaves it up to God" has dozens of kids. The average Amish family is six-eight kids. And I have no doubt there are Amish families who use family planning, too, or just plain move into separate beds! But even given that, most don't have huge families. And I have friends who leave it up to God (or nature in the case of one) and they have five-seven kids. It'll be interesting to see on down the line just how big the family gets.

Did anyone catch the Enfamil commercial in the middle of the show? When they were doing the breakfast scene?

Josh looks good for 45, too bad he is 26.

I knew Jessa is not usually the sappy type but her reaction to the flowers seemed genuine enough to not be because of what Michelle told her. She is very much herself with Ben. You can tell by the way she gave him that dig about being a kid last year. You could also tell that it bothered him. No one likes being teased, especially by the person who supposedly loves him and with cameras filming you. If Michelle's words of wisdom had any effect on her, I'm sure she would not have done that. I wonder if anyone ever said anything to her about that or not?

Anonymous said...

I actually thought that Jessa was really genuine and sweet towards Ben. I think that they love each other and Jessa is just different at expressing love than what we have seen from Josh and Anna or Jill. I think she was beaming with happiness during the entire episode and the interview. On the other hand, I really believe that Josh and Anna will not have anymore children, or maybe 1 or 2 more in the future. I think they are smarter and more aware of how much each child costs, and how much time children take up. Michelle and Jim Bob always talk about having 5 kids under 5 and those being the hardest days of their lives…well why pop out 14 more if you do not have the money or time for each? I think Anna and Josh will raise the 3 that they have very well, rather than competing for some sort of number or record. I remember early on in their marriage they would always repeat that they'd be happy with 2 or 3 kids and I always had a hunch that was all they would have.

sandi said...

Anna said in an earlier episode that they wanted 5-6 more kids in the next 10 yrs,so I guess we'll see.
I do hope they slow down and just enjoy the ones they have though.

Anonymous said...

The Duggars don't take a bath everyday?? I thought they had 5 bathrooms in their house.

Anonymous said...

I heard Michelle say one time that Jessa was thehomeschool manager.

Anonymous said...

I am guessing that Josh and Anna will have more kids. The rate at which they are having them makes me think that they will keep on this path. I think that Anna said she was the 5th born in her family so I am guessing that they will have at least 5. Who knows, but if I had to guess, I would think they would have 5-7. We'll see!

Allison said...

There is no way to predict how many kids a family will have, regardless of birth control use. You don't just get pregnant every time you have sex, anyone with common sense knows that. I think what they've said is probably what they'd personally like (just like Michelle would personally like more children) but they aren't going to do anything to stop pregnancy. I don't think Josh and Anna are or will use birth control -- they are firmly brainwashed into think its bad -- but that doesn't mean Anna will get pregnant that many times. It's simple biology.
