This is crazy behind real time!! It's been almost a year since these events occurred and we have been kept up to date by the media. How can TLC keep this show on the road??

seriously? Snooze fest! I literally have not watched this show in years, sure, I watched a few times in amazement of anyone having 19 children, and but the ongoing show, of unemployed and home schooled adults, hanging around the compound is beyond dull. A newly wed young couple on honeymoon? Dull.

So, Jim Bob let's her get married but sends her off with chaperones (camera crew) to document every moment they can.

It creeped me out when the crew was in Jinger's hotel room the morning after and they were able to capture the messy bed and her look of bewilderment.

They could keep the show on the road by not having so many flash backs and staying a little more current. It seems they should be able to do that somehow. Put a little more FYI moments into the mix. JMO.

It was up to Jeremy to tell the camera crew he would not allow them into his post wedding night room. I can't imagine how horrifying it must have been for Jinger to have these people invade her morning after since she was a virgin with most likely little knowledge of what would occur on her wedding night with her experienced husband, beyond kissing!!. The morning after is a time for the couple alone, no a camera crew in their hotel room. It's horrible how the private moments, such as painfully giving birth and even sitting on a toilet pushing out a baby (Anna) is permitted to be filmed though the Duggar parents claim they insist on sweet modesty. Money talks louder then their supposed beliefs when TLC is handing out dollars for humiliation.

I wonder if Joy got preggers on the honeymoon. Guess we'll have to wait & see. The suspense is killing me (eyes roll). So boring.

Do you think TLC is doing this on purpose? Hoping the Duggars will come to them and quit due to the time line?

Linda said...

No, because the real TV world doesn't work that way. If TLC wants a show gone, they just cancel it.

sandi said...

The Duggars signed a contract,I'm sure, and can't quit.Tlc most likely has the legal ability to cancel anytime. They got rid of Jill and Derick when they wanted to.

These honeymoons always remind me of the movie about Loretta Lynn. She didn't want to go outside the next day; when her new husband asked why,she replied,"Because everyone will know we've had sex!"

It was funny in the movie, though.

I imagine the Duggar girls must feel something similar;not so funny for them

of course, Joy got pregnant on her honeymoon it was planned this way? Michelle kept a calendar on her so they planned the marriage around her time of the month? I know for sure Michelle kept the calendar she said her self on that one esp when they went to new york to be on the today show so of course, she did it for each of her girls.

She probably had a hospital birth and possible c-section
which may be why the announced the birth 3 days later.
As young and small as she is, she didn't birth a 10+lb baby at home as a first time birth

My DVR automatically recorded this episode even though I rarely watch a full episode. With this one, I probably fast-forwarded through about 2/3 of it. Did not care to see anything about Joe and Kendra but I did watch parts of Joy's Switzerland trip and the Jinger house move. Regarding the house move- Jessa was so completely bossy but I have to admit the house looked nice when everything was moved in. I wish Jinger would be more assertive- she is so passive and appears to let her siblings and husband make all of the decisions.

Having said this- how in the world are they going to keep this going a few more years? The next show has, among other things, more wedding planning for Joe and Kendra's wedding. We have already seen the entire wedding- why must they show the "planning"? So boring.

How cute did Jinger look in that tennis outfit last night??? Jim Bob was probably stroking out when he saw that.

Why did Jeremy have the final say on the painting of the kitchen cabinets? He and Jinger should have discussed this amongst themselves. As soon as Laura said it would look good, he agreed. He didn't consult with his wife what she would prefer. Jinger had no opinion and just blindly let Jessa agrue her opinion with Jeremy. But he seemed to care what Laura thought more than anybody. He finally gave the okay when she spoke up.

Joy's boot/ski was tightened so tight it was cutting off her circulation, she said. Austin did the tightening and when she told him, he just says, you want it tight! I am sorry but I wouldn't have tried to ski if it was hurting so much and would have told him, adjust this now! Nope, she just sucked it up because he did the tightening, not caring how painful it was. She kept complaining it was too tight. She is shown in her barefeet after. I would be too if my ski was too tight it was cutting off my circulation and my husband didn't bat an eye to re-adjust it. I hope he learns to listen to how his wife feels, instead of thinking he is right and his say is final. With Joy, I don't think this would fly for long.

Jessa seems likes the luckiest, with a husband who listens to her and would bend over backwards doing what she wants/ likes. The way it should be...

Show was pretty good but sure needs to speed up a bit faster.Even the Bates show is a bit faster then this. Funny to see the honeymoon and realize a baby was just born from that time frame.

I enjoyed the Switzerland scenery, hang gliding looks like a lot of fun. Joe and Kendra are very boring, didn't miss JillyMuffin or Dipstick Dillard at all. Jessa is very bossy and Jinger is definitely used to it, as this is evidence of the Duggar family dynamics, just shut up and let Jessa have her way. I was very impressed with Jana's ability to cut and install a tile backsplash, if she indeed really did do it. And I'm happy (somewhat) that Joy and Austin named their baby boy something somewhat normal, albeit Biblical. Jinger looked adorable in her tennis outfit! I wonder how upset Jiminy Billy Bob and MEEchele were over her exposed knees and arms? Too bad they didn't film that!!

Aimee said...

Tammy C - I agree! UP TV and the Bates seem to churn out their show much faster with just as many episodes in a season. They are showing Sept/Oct events right now where as we are just seeing May/June with the Duggars. --- I will say, Joy and Austin seem quite natural together. They weren't so sicknigly lovesick as the rest just after marriage. I also appreciated Joy's willingness to yodel and try new things. They were also, so unlike Jim Bob would have been, respectful of the people and customs of the country they were visiitng. They said "Sir" and "Mam" and behaved appropriately while in public. Jim Bob and Michelle could really learn from them.

Figures, does the man ALWAYS bend to the wishes of the wife? Is that "as it should be"? I think it should be 50-50.

schooner said...

OMG, does Joy think her shyness and ignorance about almost everything is cute? She sounds like a 10 year old. "Gas" in the water scares her, melted cheese scares her, she has no idea that there is such a thing as swiss cheese, and the list goes on. She has perfected the MEchelle stare and seems to get some kind of sexy buzz from staring at Austin while he's talking. So cringy. I am embarrassed for her.

123, It was a joke! But in their religion group, it would be refreshing to see the woman take control and the man listen to the woman. In the fundie group, the man tells the woman what to do and the man must approve. I know an older religious couple whose daughter I am friends with. She told me her dad does not permit her mother to wear red. Her parents are in their early 70's. It was appalling to me, that she would be so obedient to another person even after all these years. I can just imagine all the control she endured throughout her life. It is sad to me she must obtain her husbands permission to wear red. But this is the reality for her. But yet, a man can wear whatever color he wants or do whatever he wants?
In our non-fundie world of course, it should be 50/50! But in theirs, women need to put them in their place or put their foot down!

Isn't cheese fondue usually made with wine? I wonder if Joy knew that?

Diana said...

I enjoyed the Switzerland part of the episode, also glad we got to finally see Jinger and Jeremy's 4 bedroom home. Jessa saying Jeremy setting up his office was like setting up a nursery just shows the ignorance there. I'm a voracious reader, so I get where Jeremy's coming from when it comes to his books. Jessa also shows us that those girls were raised to believe having babies, babies, babies is their only lot in life. I thought Jingers house was very nice too.

Here's my question if anyone cares to answer! When Joy and Austin were at the restaurant in Switzerland, was that "water"they were drinking wine?! Because I think it was! I'd it was wine, that just shows you how sheltered they both have been! Sad really. I changed the channel near the end of the show when Michelle made her appearance, just couldn't stomach any of her.

Cathy said...

Diana, they were drinking sparkling water. If you've never had it, it is very different from regular bottled water.

Ruth said...

They have discussed it already before the cameras were there. I know with my parents one has strong ideas on rooms and the other is like whatever.

Diana said...

Cathy Thank you! I've never had "sparkling" water, now I'm the sheltered one ha ha! Had no idea it tasted any different.

Figures - about fundie women being obedient and the woman you speak of not being allowed to wear red.... For me, it's similar to my feelings towards Anna. Brainwashed or not, I have no sympathy for weak women like that anymore. Been there, done that. They just need to move on already. I had NO support and 3 kids, life goes on.

As for Joy on last nights episode - it's always bothered me that she seems more into Austin than he is into her. She's always posting things on social media like he's just the end all be all. I never see him post anything like that to her. She's always touchy feely with him to where he looks uncomfortable. Could be he's not used to affection, and maybe Joy wants affection because she's never gotten it either? She whispered to Austin to kiss her in a way that she didn't want the viewers or camera crew to hear her. Austin looked at her and said, "Did you say to kiss you?" She said "yes", so he kissed her. Then there are photos of her wanting a kiss and Austin is shown pushing her away. Then there's that photo of her sitting on top his lap while he's laying on the couch. I'm really embarrassed for Joy. I can see her being very unhappy with him, not to mention getting her feelings hurt alot by Mr. Uptight. Poor Joy-Joy.

Alicia: I read that after their wedding Jinger and Jeremy had a couple of days together before flying out to Australia, so not to be gross but I don't think the scene in the hotel room was the first time the had 'done the deed'! I also don't think these girls are as unknowledgeable about sex as people think they are, after all their parents are human rabbits, and they all seem to be 'raring to go' in the weeks leading up to their weddings if the eye rolls and nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more faces are anything to go by! I really think in that episode they were both suffering from jetlag, its a long way to Aus and a change of time zone to cope with, I wouldn't be too happy if a film crew rolled up at my door wanting to film when I was exhausted from long haul travel and jetlagged, but when they are paying for it all and you are contracted you just have to suck it up and perform.

I have never been to Switzerland and I know what fondue is and sparkling water? These two need to check things out before they run across the ocean on a honeymoon? or did TLC say let's go there because the viewers would like it? They should have tried to speak the language? What if no one spoke English but wait they had the TLC crew with them to help them?

LilBit0318 said...

Auggie...I don't believe cheese fondue has wine in it. But when I've had it, it was done in courses. First came the cheese with bread, apples, and carrots to dip. Then there was a main course, which does involve wine. There are different meats and vegetables, which you cook in a mixture of some sort of stock and wine for flavor. And last was the chocolate with various goodies to dip for dessert.

No sympathy from me. Joy is an adult, and makes her own choices, she decided to "toe the line", if she is miserable, she literally made her own like Anna.

Figures said...

In their religious group, you are not considered an adult UNTIL you marry. Then, it is too late, as you are taught to stick with that person, no matter what. They haven't had an ounce of independence until their wedding night. I feel sorry for anyone being brought up in these groups. It is all they know. This is their normal. I dont know how people can say they are weak. They are just so uneducated and what they really need is friends outside their group to realize there is a much different world and choices and they will be okay if they do things differently than what they were taught. Look at Jinger, she realizes she can be a godly woman and do and dress 'worldly', which is prohibited in most sects. But she was given over to Jeremy, who is worldly. So perhaps, her family will see this worldliness isn't as evil as they were brainwashed into believing. These women aren't weak. They are brought up this way. Programmed into living and behaving a certain way. They were born into this. They need friends from the 'outside', to show them they are such prisoners on the inside.

Think it just goes to show how boring this show is, when most of the discussions here and on other sites are about fondue and sparkling water lol!

Usually outside views are so threatening, they are limited in contact, minimal, and immediate prayer session/brainwashing occurs after contact, with carefully selected wording to pray for the misguided souls. Happy face, you don't want to leave the safety of our wonderful life, just pray more if you are not happy. Work harder. Go do some laundry.
