Who in the world would be interested in a tot’s first haircut except the parents and maybe grandparents. Now if a family member was battling cancer and was losing their hair to chemo, family and friends or teammates lining up to have their heir heads shaved in a show of support can maybe be a newsworthy thing to share with the rest of the world. No, don’t wish cancer on anyone — been there and done that myself five years ago, but just sayin nobody cares about routine haircuts.

Picking out outfits sounds boring as well

Talk about scraping the barrel for material, TLC. Ugh. What snooze fest. Frankly, I'm sick of Jessa. And I foresee Jeremy telling her uneducated, pompous ass off before long. Ratings are going dive if this is all you TLC.

No Fan of the Duggars...While I'd be the first one to say TLC has to reach far and wide for storylines that don't involve courting, weddings and babies, Spurgies first haircut is an episode that interests me for sure! Other than my tow headed little girl years ago, I'd be hard pressed to say when I've seen such cute, gorgeous curls on a toddler as I've seen on that little boy. I'm interested to see how they came to the decision that it was time for a haircut for the little guy and if Ben had a say, which I doubt he did lol! Since the Duggars are so phobic about "proper" gender roles, I'm surprised not only that they let his hair get so long, I'm also surprised he got to keep a few of his curls. Color me shocked that he didn't get a "lego" do like grandpa Jim Bob. Maybe I'll actually be entertained by this upcoming episode!

This just shows you how desperate they are to come up with an "interesting episode." Good Grief!

Here's how it will go: they will head to a barber shop, Spurg will run around like a wild man and instead of teaching him how to behave and sit still, they will laugh it off and say he just has energy to burn off. Meanwhile, the barber will stand there with a fake smile and be expected to wait until Spurg is done running around and then give a wiggly toddler a perfect first haircut.

Surely you jest that the offspring of the cheapskate will go to a barber shop? First they take an old towel and wrap it around the kid and then Jessa or Michelle will begin lopping off curls.

No hair cutting salon involved, folks. Yes, the wrapped around towel and Jessa with a scissors is the way they're going. I saw a short quick clip, somewhere about that. I think it was in the intro on the show Monday night. The Duggars NEVER pay for hair care, and it shows.

Jessa and for that matter Jill, Jana, Jinger et al have all been cutting their brothers’ and JB’s hair since they were very young. I’m sure those girls could do that conservative, Ken doll haircut with their eyes closed. Spurgeon won’t be going to an actual barber unless of course TLC is footing the bill.

Only Saying said...

Miss B that's exactly how Spurgeon's first haircut would go if he went to the barber shop but that won't happen. All the boys & men in the Duggar family get their haircut by the girls, since Michelle decided it was to much work for her & the girls could take over. Even Jim Bob entrusts his head of hair to the girls to cut rather than pay a dime to a real barber. Apparently that's an area of their lives where they don't have a best friend who is a barber & just insists on offering them free haircuts & teaching someone in the family how to give a good haircut. I'm glad to see that someone else thinks Spurgeon is wild, & his behavior is excused by saying he just has too much energy. Guess they learned that from Michelle's, it was always one of her favorite lines, instead of disciplining the children. Everyone thinks Jessa is such a great mom, very good with her children. I think Spurgeon is spoiled. I remember seeing even Jana trying to control his behavior without any success. You're right he's just wild & they excuse his behavior. However I would never want to see him disciplined following the blanket training, or any other one the Pear's methods. He's old enough to have "time out" which Michelle didn't approve of or some other method so we won't be seeing him running wild & hitting Henry over the head, with a toy without any consequence. Something they think is cute, & we have seen in the past..

My goodness said...

I would rather see Spurgeon full of energy than be Pearl trained too!! Anyday!!! I personally think Jessa is doing a fine job. As soon as she said something to Spurgeon when he and Henry were having a shouting match, he immediately stopped. A brat would have kept it going. I think Jessa uses positive reinforcement when disciplining. I did the same, with time outs and taking away toys, and mine turned out to be a kind young man. IMO, there are other parents in that family who could a thing or two from the way Jessa parents.

Re: goodness's comment. Spurgeon is getting older & does need discipline. He needs to be able to get along with his brother & his cousins. However I would never advocate anything that comes from the wisdom of the Pearls.

Jessa's kids are happy and healthy. She must be doing something right.

Or maybe Ben is.

Well, neither one of them has a job...so, I guess they take care of kids all day.

Jessa needs a big-time haircut? and that haircut she gave her son needs more of a cut

Spurgeons first haircut! Yippie Skippy! Next weeks thrilling episode of 'Dragging On' I'm sure will feature Spurgeon getting his toenails clipped! Shopping for ties is about as exciting as watching the paint dry. Jinger and Baaaabe moving furniture around was equally as exciting. Kendra's laugh is obnoxious, she's already got that Stepford Wife laugh down pat. I'm waiting for Janas escape episode, like maybe she tells off Jiminy Billy Bob and MEEEchele, leaves home, wears a bikini in public, gets an exciting job, like as a firefighter and writes a tell all book.

Did anyone know what Josie was saying when they were at the Duggar home doing their water games & water slide? It showed names she was apparently saying on the screen but I couldn't understand a word she actually said. How old is she?

Just Saying said...

I agree with all bin, Spurgeon's haircut was barley a trim let alone name an episode "Spurgeon's First Haircut." A boy's first haircut is usually more than Jessa gave him. Perhaps a girl might just get a trim but that's all he got.

This episode featuring "Spurgeons First Haircut" should have been called "Jeremy's New Bookcases"! Boring! I did some channel surfing during the show, but it seemed like every time I went back to TLC,they were focused on his stupid bookcases. Did anyone else catch Jeremy acting like Jim Bob? Jim Bob has repeatedly disrespected others cultures and language.Trying to speak the native language wherever he was, Jim Bob would just stick an "O" at the end of a word. Jeremy did that! How ignorant! Jeremy was trying to speak Spanish to the gentleman building his bookcases and sure enough, he was trying to say a word he didn't know in Spanish, so he just used the English word and stuck an "O" at the end. Classic Jim Bob garbage. Can only imagine the things that are said and done by the Duggars and their ilk when the cameras are off. You have to at least admit that Derick was being honest about his outlook on transgenderism, he was anything but politically correct and it cost him his job. I'll give credit to all the other Duggars because you know they all feel like Derick does about Jazz. At least they had the sense to keep their mouths shut and spread their hatefulness in private. Anyways, I can hardly contain my excitement for the next episode! We get to see wedding planning for Kendra and Joe! Forget that we saw the wedding months ago. It's SUREAL and I'm SUPER EXCITED!

What a snooze-fest. I watch CO on Monday night and fell asleep halfway through. I happened to see it again after My Fat Fabulous Life and fell asleep on the couch again even earlier. I'm seriously getting annoyed at Jessa expecting everyone to be excited for her child's day to day happenings.

Aunt Bea said...

I couldn't understand one word that Josie was trying to say either? What' going on with her? She has spoken more clearly in the past.

Diana said...

Aunt Bea I couldn't understand what Josie said either. I have a feeling she may need a little help that you just know Jim Bob and Michelle won't get. As far as how Josie has been previously? In recent years the only thing I recall from Josie is a smile from her acknowledging someone speaking to her. We don't see much of the minor Duggars on this new show like we did on 19KAC.Maybe they would liven this show which is in dire need of livening up. Only problem with that is if we saw more of the younger kids, we'd probably see more of the parents. No thank you!

On a different note... Has anyone read Derick's social media implying he's never received any money for being on the show? Not that I trust a word that comes out of that crooked messed up mouth of his, but I wouldn't be surprised if that comment was true! I know that for years it's been said that Jim Bob collected all the money for the whole family in one check from TLC. it wouldn't shock me one bit if he was still getting any and all money earned, including the money for the married kidults. Plus, I wouldn't doubt he's taking all the payouts from the 2 magazines they've done multiple photo-ops and articles for, "People" and "US Weekly". I'm thinking it's a trade off arrangement. Jessa, Ben, Jill and Derick were given a rent free house to live in and a small weekly/monthly stipend. Now that Jill and Derick are off the show, he probably has an arrangement with Kendra and Joe since they now live in the pool mansion where Jill and Derick used to live. Also, Jessa and Ben have since bought the house from grandma Mary for a token $1.00 sale price. I have alot more thoughts on this subject, but this is too long already, so I'll save it for another day.

I am waiting for Derrick's "Tell All" book to come out.

Willow said...

Do we know for sure Joe and Kendra live in the pool house? I am really curious about this. I also heard they live in the log cabin house of grandma's that they moved on the Duggar property a couple of years ago. I also heard grandma moved in with her daughter after her daughter's divorce and never planned to live in the log cabin house. Does anyone know anything additional about this, if so please let us know. Thanks.

hilda said...

Yes, Derick, it's about time you spilled the beans on Jimboob who is forcing you to live in poverty as he takes all the money from TLC, buys airplanes and travels the world as you sit by your computer with out a good paying job. A million dollars could be the payoff for the tell all book.

Diana said...

Willow, you're wondering if Kendra and Joe are now living where Derick and Jill used to live, next door to the tin house in the pool house mansion....Thats a good question! I said they did, but that was supposition on my part. There were photos posted of Joe and Kendra baking oatmeal cookies in the pool house kitchen, so my assumption was that they live there. That's the ONLY "proof" I was going on, so who knows! Remember too, there's no doubt that Derick and Jill DID move out of that house.

As for where Grandma Mary lives? I've seen it said grandma was living with daughter Deanna, but moved into her old log cabin once it was relocated onto Duggar property last year. Again, speculation, no absolute proof. After all, Jim Bob and Michelle don't answer questions unless the questions are submitted in advance so they can decide which cock-a-maney story of the day they want their adoring fans to believe. We know they're totally honest and transparent. Remember... Jana's a concert pianist, Jill's a bona-fide midwife, John David's a cop, some of the kids are firemen/women, Jim Bob is a preacher, Ben's a real estate agent/broker when he's not moonlighting as a rapper, Derick is a missionary along with his wife when she's not out delivering babies in between baking banana bread, Michelle is "Mother of the Year", Jessa is an "author" which she alludes to on her facebook page, and don't forget they're ALL "Reality TV Stars", but, they don't believe in watching TV!....You can't make this stuff up!

Willow said...

Thanks Diana for helping me with the guessing game, lol. Hard to piece things together sometimes. I am hoping we will eventually see where Joe and Kendra live, as we did Joy and Austin. After all, they do need to have something, anything at all, that is interesting to show on Counting On. lol.

Aunt Bea said...

I understand that Joe and Kendra are living in the log cabin that was meant for Mary Duggar. Mary has been living with Deanna since she and her husband split up. Don't feel too sorry for Mary Duggar, she's got money to burn. She started all the sly stuff with this family years ago and was quite a shrewd business woman herself in their real estate business. That woman has sharp blades in her pockets.

Willow said...

So, is the pool house mini mansion empty right now? Maybe it is really being used as a guest house now. Jana should get it all for herself, like move in TOMORROW. She deserves this at the very least. She even did a lot of decorating in it.

Cynthia said...

I for one am so tired of Jessa and her bossy way. What I don't understand is how Jeremy & Jinger allowed Jessa to go into THEIR home and decorated it they way she wanted it fixed. Also in my opinion Jessa can't cut hair worth a darn. I think that they haircut she gave Ben was terrible....Just terrible.....Now onto Spurgeon......Notice how she very sternly she plops him down (twice) into his chair. She doesn't even know how to feed a toddler properly. She gave hims scrambled eggs on a big plate and had him use a adult fork. It makes more sense to put his eggs in a small bowl and let him eat his food with a spoon.

Aunt Bea said...

I agree that Jessa doesn't know how to feed a small child. I have noticed this in Jill, too. Remember Izzy eating tomato sauce raw, straight out of a can...is this how Michelle took care of her first few children? Rotten mothers, all of them.

nana Gia said...

Izzy had to be starving to eat tomato sauce out of the can. What weird & cruel thing to feed a toddler. Couldn't she at least put it on some pasta which only takes 10 minutes to cook. How lazy can a mother be??
