this will tell the truth about what really happened with Joy. I wonder if ginger has a birth in a hospital I hope she does.

shame on this mother and father for not caring enough for their daughter to let her see a doctor. A doctor would have known weeks ago and helped her properly and would not have to suffer like this. In the video, it seemed like Jill was the midwife? Why cannot these people learn seems no one cares? Tlc should also be held responsible because they see this happening and not do anything about it.

Beyond Belief said...

It's not TLC's responsibility what the Duggars do or don't do. They have risked the lives of Jill, Jessa & Joy, as well as those babies. Everyone except the babies is an adult. TLC is there to film the damage. That's it!

It's just a human characteristic to help someone in a difficult situation. Filming a brainwashed young girl struggle for hours, perhaps letting her baby die while under the care the fake midwife, Jill is criminal.

I agree that it's not the Duggars responsibility to worry about their daughters, now that these "women" are married women, not children. Of course, that's according to their age, not their intellect. However, the Duggars have always been more than just a little lax when it comes to the health & safety of their kids, why would they change at this point, especially when there's the option for the fans to be rabid about seeing a homebirth, as opposed to a routine hospital birth, even a C-section birth. I personally feel any birth has it's share of risks. Emergencies happen but to labor with a baby that large, not knowing it's a breech or transverse, speaks volumes to just how much all these blessings really mean to the Duggars & extended family. If I was Joy's mother-in-law, I would have ignored Jill & called 911, however this shows us that Austin & his family are just as dedicated to the fundie cause & the "God will protect us," belief as the Duggars are. This should really come as no surprise to anyone who has followed this family. They believe they are above any tragedy, regardless of Michelle's last 2 experiences with childbirth, or Jill & Jessa's experiences with childbirth emergencies. I know many hoped & actually thought, that Austin so deeply loved & cared for Joy, that he would never have let her suffer a long, unbelievable painful, labor & delivery, that could have easily had a tragic outcome. The picture I saw of Joy, laying there with a cloth on her forehead & eyes closed, as Jill pronounced that the babies vitals & Joy's vitals were fine, she looked dead. I truly hope for a better outcome for Jinger. I also would not be surprise if, regardless of any advise Joy & Austin might have received, from Dr.'s at the hospital where she delivered, they will surely be pregnant with their 2nd child within the yr.

I agree that Joy looked as pale a ghost in those first photos, even the one at home. Jessa was just as pale in that hospital sheet-draped photo of herself, Ben and Spurgie. Childbirth IS a serious thing, unpredictable and dice-rolling. Taking precautions is just plain being responsible. These young idiot parents owe it to their precious God-given blessing of a baby to put it's needs FIRST....but they don't.

There is a preview of next weeks episode, a mini episode of Joy's labor & delivery, up on TLC's website. Jim Bob is shown praying for a "Natural Delivery," not a safe, healthy, delivery for baby & mom. If this bring in the expected number of viewers, it will cement the home birth episodes. I think Kendra's lot in life, no question, is a home birth. I am still holding out hope for Jinger for a hospital birth, or at the very least a certified midwife delivery at a clinic. They are playing fast & loose with the lives of the women in the family as well as the "blessings." It's become a tragic outcome or the women in this family & all to keep a TV show going.

Just Unbelievable said...

I wish a group of OBGYN Dr.'s, would write in to the show about the dangerous practice the Duggars have started on & make no mistake it started because of the interest in the well publicized, "toilet birth," everyone remembers so well. Can anyone find an episode of Michelle planning a home birth & being rushed for emergency C-section? Yes,I know she had home deliveries but it was not a tradition until her daughters & daughter-in-law started it. Michelle headed for the hospital after her OB/GYN examined her & sent her there. There is a tragic outcome waiting to happen with these young women but I suppose they are all aware of that & will say it's "God's Will." It's not "God's Will, it's their stupidity.

I doubt immature, giggly Kendra will be able to handle a home birth. She seems like a child. And about Jimbob praying for a natural birth like a hospital or C=section is something to be ashamed of. He was afraid of needles giving blood so how can he imagine his young daughters pushing out a 10 lb baby without medical assistance? It's none of his business to be praying for the home birth...but I guess he knows eventually the hospital bill will end up in his hands because the arranged marriage kids don't have jobs that would give them medical insurance so he prays.

Tori said...

If Jimbob or any of the Duggar boys were having the babies they would be at the hospital shortly after the first twinge, and have the epidural administered before the second one took hold. Jimbob is affraid of needles (remember him forcing his older daughters to be blood donors because he couldn't), and I don't think any of the Duggar boys would have the gumption to go through the pain their sisters endure. Home birth is just another way to reinforce that the men are incharge imo, they hold the purse strings so if they won't pay for a hospital birth the woman really has no choice. They probably tell the women that its natural and Gods plan for them to suffer like eve. What will it take for them to wake up and realise that you cannot take risks with child birth, two of their sisters have been rushed to hospital due to complications, I hope Kendra and Jinger have easier deliveries than Jill, Jessa and Joy.

Linda said...

Three sisters have gone to the hospital with birth complications. Not a good record - three out of three.

Aimee said...

The home births are the only way to bring in money and ratings. The Bates daughters/daughter-in-law have ALL had hospital and/or medical facility deliveries. All but one have included epidurals - including many of Kelly's last deliveries shown on "United Bates of America" their old show. In fact, daughter Alyssa didn't allow any of her deliveries to be filmed. She has shared some pre-baby things like baby showers and then again once baby comes she waits until she is done up with hair/make-up before filming. Still popular. Their show is still rolling and plenty of people are watching. Not sure why the Duggar girls don't know this/want these much safer choices for themselves and their own children.

Willow said...

Aimee, I agree with you 100%. The Bates are so much smarter than the Duggars, I'm sorry to say. The Duggars keep repeating their mistakes regarding home birth, over and over. Michelle is such a selfish and despicable mother. Its fact, not just opinion.

lisa Mcginess said...

these people have no compassion if that was my daughter I would call 911 no matter what she said cannot you see she is in pain. Michelle must have had this kind of labor because whatever kind of labor your mother had usually the daughter has the same kind? So Michelle probably knew something like this could happen. How could any mother want to see her labor that long? Personally, I had fast and short labor so I did not suffer like these girls. Anyone who could not know the baby was breech this late in the pregnancy is behind me. Kendra will labor like this also? I hope finger is at least the smart one and goes to the hospital

if any saw the video only midwife was there was Jill? I also really wonder if see even saw a doctor even one time?

Snowbunny said...

I saw about 2-3 minutes of the episode where Joy is in labor. She certainly was never given any type of instructions on the proper way to breath during labor, although anything she did was futile. This was a tragedy waiting to happen. Again they beat the odds.

Captain Crunch said...

Yes that part really irked me! Praying for a home birth, as opposed to a safe hospital birth, especially with a first pregnancy. Jiminy Billy Bob was praying he didn't have to open up his wallet and increase Joys allowance to pay for the hospital bill.

Andrea said...

Gosh this was one boring episode. Jinger making coffee and the lamest party ever. Also several key Duggar's seemed to be missing from the party: Ben, Jessa, Jill, Derick and Michelle. Kendra's comment: "At first I was alittle unsure about the water tubing but then my Mom said it was fun and I should try it." Is she 12?! Seriously, her mother is encouraging her. It's just sad. I just finished watching as I couldn't stomach it any longer. Yawn. Time for a nap.

Jamie C. said...

Ditzy Kendra will giggle, smile sweetly and blindly follow what she is told she should do re: labour & delivery. With her newfound independence and freedom, I think Jinger will be the one to put her foot down and insist on delivering her baby surrounded by medical professionals. Epidurals are awesome! Jill is a dingbat who should not be advising any more moms-to-be. I know that they say women have been having their babies at home for thousands of years, BUT they forget to mention the history of high infant/maternal mortality rates. So far the Duggar clan has lucked out, but it won't always be this way. Somewhere along the way, someone is going to die or be seriously disabled from their negligence.

Beyond Ridiculousl said...

Jim Bob praying for a safe natural delivery is outrageous. You don't pray for a safe natural delivery, you don't specifically pray for a safe hospital delivery, all you pray for is a safe delivery for the mom & her blessing. Just when & where did everyone find out that Austin (at his age)is an EMT? We never heard a word about that before. Of course, we know how the Duggars like to embellish everything. They already have so many professionals in the family. If he is an EMT, he's not a very good one, as most EMT' have had a lest one experience with a woman in labor, who needs to be rushed to a hospital & he should know something about what was happening with Joy, actually a lot more than what Jill knows. It doesn't even make sense that Austin would be an EMT, as in their culture men are not involved in jobs where they might need to tend to a woman in distress, i.e. giving birth. I smell a rat in this Austin is an EMT & why did they throw that in when things were obviously not going as they should with Joy's labor & delivery? This is just nonsense & they expect the fans to believe it.

I don’t get why everyone thinks Jinger will be the intelligent one and have a hospital birth. She has done nothing to show that she has her own mind and does what she sets her own mind to. So far she has shown that she follows her husband in what HE decides. Any normalcy that Jinger has displayed is because Jeremy has told her to go in that direction and she has dutifully obliged. I will guess that Jinger will have a hospital birth, and it won’t be Jinger to thank for the baby’s sake. It will be Jeremy to thank for that. Had Jinger given in to Jim Bob, which it could have very well happened, she would have been married to a fundie of equal stature and she would have gone exactly the way of her sisters. Make no mistake about that. Jinger has only lucked out so far in the marriage lottery.

I agree with. I think Jinger will have a hospital birth only because Jeremy has a grasp of how dangerous childbirth is. I'm more interested in what Kendra does. My hope is her mother/ father insist she gets prenatal care and a hospital birth. I can't even imagine being a new mother and having an ill qualified so called midwife as my prenatal care. Women in that situation must be too uneducated to know any better!

Asking? said...

It seemed as though Austin & Joy were just guessing about when their baby was due. Everything they mentioned was based on the 2 pregnancy tests they took. They never mentioned seeing a Dr. to confirm the pregnancy, or even worse to making sure everything was going as it should. I don't understand how they can just become pregnant, take a test, notify their family & then just wait until the time they are "guessing" he baby is due. No apparent prenatal care at all.

Tanya T said...

Jinger will likely have a hospital birth because she doesn’t have her family close by and I can’t see her be willing to Skype or FaceTime her whole labor for Jill to make comments. I bet she will limit the film crew on what they will film during her labor and delivery. Plus I think she once said watching another woman labor and deliver made her squeamish, I think she might be very scared and nervous about child birth. That could be why she waited so much longer than her sisters to get pregnant.

Heart in Florida said...

I agree that doubt exists as to whether or not Joy was under the care of anyone during her pregnancy. She said on the show, that she took 2 tests 'just to be sure' and that THEY haven't figured out her birth month yet. Sounds to me like she went months before she visited yet another incompetent, improperly trained and licensed midwife.

Her botched labor plan is her own fault.

So Foolish said...

There doesn't seem to be anything that indicates that Joy & Austin did anything except take the pregnancy tests & try to figure out when the baby was due. Joy mentioned a couple of different possibilities, as to just when the baby would be born & I know that's true for everyone but she didn't say she was given this date or that date, just something they had settled on themselves. I don't know whether or not they went to one of those store front places i.e.; "What's Kicking," to find out the gender & possible expected date or not. I believe Jill & Jessa did that although not sure as I didn't see it shown. Joy & Austin kept it all under wraps, perhaps because they didn't know themselves. The way they spoke it was "we took 2 different pregnancy tests & figured out when the baby was due. There was absolutely no mention of a midwife, or Joy being under the care of a midwife, either during the pregnancy, or during the labor. It seems it was only mentioned in the People article, or from the Duggars Facebook page, that the "midwife" decided she should go to the hospital. It's not clear at all if that "midwife was Jill, or someone else. Way to go with your life & the health & safety of your "Blessing." Guess it's a good thing that God is watching over them, someone needs to.

Lindsay said...

If Joy had seen any midwife or medical professional, during her pregnancy she would have had an inkling of how to try & breath during labor. She certainly did not. She was not taking in long slow breaths & exhaling & yes I know it's not easy to concentrate on your breathing pattern while in such painful labor but she had absolutely no idea of the way to breath, or what she was doing. She was continually breathing out & sounded like a horse snorting. I'm not making fun of her, just saying she didn't dint know what she was doing. Nobody gave this girl (yes girl) any instructions that would have helped her through the labor. She, herself could have been taught how to locate the baby's head, so she might have had an idea that the baby wasn't in the right position. Although with all the women in the house pushing for the home birth, they probably would have convinced her that all babies are like that prior to birth & been told to just continue on, it won't be much longer Joy & you'll be holding that baby in your arms.

Just Sickening said...

Re:Heart in Florida's comment that Joy's botched labor plan was her own fault. You're absolutely correct. I'm sure she never received any advise from Michelle but her two older sister should have stepped up to the plate, looked at her & thought, this is our baby sister, just as Jessa said, while remembering when Joy was born & came home as a baby. Jessa said, she was like their own baby doll when she was born, they loved caring for her. Well they should have continued their loving care for her & called 911. I could never watch anyone suffer the way she did. In the hospital photo she looked as if she had been through a fight, even her face looked swollen. Instead of following the party line for Jim Bob's sake, her sisters should have stood up for her. I don't know if Jill would have but Jessa seems to have a backbone & says what she's thinking. Also, Austin's mom said she went to the hospital to deliver him by C-section, so why didn't she speak up? Apparently there is no end to the suffering these young women are willing to go through for these home births. I would have loved to hear what the Dr.'s & nurses had to say when they saw her arrive at the hospital.

A Nurse not a midwife said...

As a nurse, who sees EMT's & Paramedics frequently, I absolutely believe if Austin is an EMT, he certainly should have known that the baby was breech & that Joy wasn't having a normal delivery. Any EMT I've ever met, has at the very least, been through practice scenarios, if not in their practical experience, of a woman in labor, about to deliver. They are keenly aware of breech birth requiring immediate hospitalization. There's something seriously wrong about having a certified EMT present & not calling 911 before the possibility of loosing the mom or baby or both.

Just Wonder said...

I've been thinking suppose Jeremy & Jinger didn't notify the family or film crew & just go to the hospital & have their baby. Would Jim Bob disown them?

I've been waiting for someone to comment about the tubing at the bachelor/bachelorette party. I was somewhat shocked to see Joe almost on top of Kendra while tubing. I couldn't figure out why he was crawling all over her until the talking head segment & he said something about shifting or balancing with the turns. I guess when you're not able to touch your fiancé you'll look for any excuse. Good thing they got tossed into the cold water to cool them down!

Wherz said...

Re Auggie’s comment: I thought the same, and I kept waiting to see the JimBob lecture on touching before marriage but it never came. Must not apply to the boys. Also noticed looks like Jana was wearing shorts.

My guess it is the Bates kids are smarter. Kelly had most of hers at home. it has also been my feeling Erin would have tried home birth if not for complications. I could see Michaela trying home birth.
Someone asked Zach and Whitney about more kids on You Tube live and Gil said what about ten more. They acted uncomfortable. You would think after the botched Duggar births and Erin's issues they would get not everyone can have 20 kids.

sandi said...

Roddma, yes,I wonder if Kelly and Gil are flipping out that Whitney now has a career, and baby no. 3 is nowhere in sight.Erin and Alyssa are on baby no. 3.Gil and Kelly prob. think they should be,too.
I wonder if they are secretly lecturing them, seeing Gil said that in public

Jilly Muff Muff wants so desperately to be present at a successful straight forward Home birth that she denies what is happening. I get the distinct feeling that she has the mind of an 9 year old who is playing doctor with her little siblings. It’s creepy. She is not dealing with reality.

I know Ruby,I keep feeling like Jill should be carrying one of those little toy plastic Dr. kits with the fake earscope and licorice pills inside.Perhaps she can fix all problems with that.LOL

I just snorted into my tea, on my phone the description of this thread says "Joe and Kendra have a joint" on one line. It took a me a minute. I haven't seen any of the episodes yet this season but I thought, finally something worth watching....Oh shoot....same old.
