How far behind the times can this show get. Seems like ages ago we saw the wedding with the tacky flying man with ring joke. Kendra will be having that baby soon and I cannot imagine that giggling child having a home birth.

do all these fundies have home births? Michelle did not? what has changed it just seems that Michelle as a mother is heartless to see her child suffer like that when she had good care? What happens if Michelle had tried and home birthed Jose she what has been dead? The bates do not do home births if Erin did not go to a doctor she would have had about 10 miscarriage by now? Her sister Micheal is even going to a fertility doctor now. Just wondering if she will have IVF treatments?

Seriously, who watches this show? Watching teens, who are buying wedding dresses? Kendra, birthday bash?!

Jinger and Jeremy, play host to friends? Really! Exciting! Maybe Jinger will wear PANTS!

The whole show is so lame and boring. I have not watched in years, aside from a few brief minutes, yawn, move on.

How much longer can this excitement go on?

It's sooooooo boring but for some reason, TLC refuses to drop this repetitive themed show.
Holding hands.......first kiss.....wedding dress.....European honeymoon........baby announcement......It's almost like they need another scandal to perk up the show.

Shelli said...

Well Kelly, a scandal could be coming; Derick Dillard has been posting some interesting tweets today. Dropping hints that he has not made any money off of the show, People magazine shots, interviews etc. Saying that he has never used his children for financial gain. Has Jim Bob been a greed little Christian? Did he get his children to sign over their share of the money to the “family” treasury? Its high time another skeleton tumbled from the Duggar closet.

Couldnt believe it said...

I've never commented about Kendra's "giggle problem," however, in last weeks episode she was giggling so much they had to put her words up on the screen, so you could understand what she had just said. Sort of like Josie.

What a life said...

Kelly, nothing Jim Bob does surprises me. I don't believe he has ever had the best interest of anyone but himself in his actions or thoughts. He'd sell Michelle, "his beloved wife," down the river, if there was a market for her, which there isn't.

Emma said...

Shelli: I've said it before Jimbob has deep pockets and short arms, who is surpised he controls the money? Derick is calling out TLC but he is barking up the wrong tree, and I am sure he knows it he just hasn't the guts to come out and say it. It is all going to come out. He said they reached out to TLC to help with Izzys hospital bills but they refused, I am sure the bill for Sams two week stay in the NICU is massive, I wonder did he ask again and was refused again and that is why he cut ties with TLC? The skeletons are going to dance out of the prayer closet, and I hope TLC comes out and sets the record straight too!

sandi said...

That's cheap of tlc,but not surprising. They seem to go for low production costs.
That said,if it wasn't in the contract for them to pay for hospital bills, they were under no obligation to do so.I'm not sure they paid for any of Josie's bills, either.I doubt it

I'm surprised at Derick in the first place. Upon marriage to Jill, why didn't he, an accountant, require a separate contract for he and Jill? That would be the thing to do and I don't think TLC would have found that to be out of the ordinary. After all, didn't Josh and Anna have their own agreement with TLC once they married? I think they did. No wonder Derick isn't working as an accountant any more.

Penny said...

What I do not understand is people calling derrick a headcase...anyone could see he is skirting around the issue that he and jill were not paid directly from tlc..and I believe him...but could tlc take the fall in this??as everyone over the age of 18 should have their own contract and pay directly to them...all minors should have an advocate other than their parents to make sure their money is put in a trust...those dugger parents got rich off of their children...the young married couples should not be struggling.

Just thinking said...

Hey Derrick...here is a wild idea. Get a job like the rest of us and pay off your bills. You have the advantage of a college education so stop playing "I am a missionary" game and whining about TLC. If you were stupid enough to "volunteer" without compensation, then how did you plan to be a man and support your family..even the bible advocates that a man support his family. Also, get your wife to the hospital when she is in labor, not hang around praying over her as the baby goes into distress.

Disgusted said...

I agree Penny. I too believe Derick. I just can't believe he wouldn't have his own contract drawn, being an accountant. He probably made a deal with JB to live in that Mcmansion. But with his and his wife's own separate pay, he could have bought his own Mcmansion. If JB is banking all the money, that is not right. These kids need to do something. Their lives have been used for public scrutiny and they don't even get paid? Basically just a roof over their heads, when they could have provided that for themselves and so much more.

sandi said...

I can't believe tlc would have Derick and Jill on the show, without a separate contract. They would have no reason to show up for filming.Derick is the one In find to be dishonest.
Derick also could not have just quit the show.Tlc is the only one who could have pulled those episodes with he and Jill in them.He does not have the power to do so

Linda said...

TLC has tons of people on shows who don't have contracts. Their view is why should they stop people from volunteering. Great shades of Kate Gosselin's brother and sister-in-law.

sandi said...

Linda, yes, but Kate's bro and sil were never main characters on the show, like Jill and Derick were. They even apparently filmed the birth episodes, then pulled them.
Add to that,Derick is pretty money hungry, what with all the gofundme's and such.I just find it hard to believe he would agree to appear for free, when he could probably get a big paycheck from it.Jmo

In my opinion, the fact that Derick and Jill didn't share the situation with Sam's birth speaks volumes to me. They were upfront about Izzy's birth, had some footage, and I'm quite sure received SOME KIND OF compensation for the information. However, Sam's birth seemed to be more serious as he was in the NICU for 2 weeks. Not a word about that situation from Derick or Jill only because they weren't paid for the information. It shows me that these people are completely for sale. They really care nothing about all of these 'dear friends, 'sweet followers, fans, etc' of theirs. Many out here care about what happened to that little guy in spite of his idiot mother and father. They still haven't said what went down. They are all fakes, liars and fame whores. It's apparent to me...,pay them and they'll open their mouths for everyone to see, hear and read about. Shut the wallet and no information at all.

Beyond Belief said...

I'm seeing all over the internet that Jill's first baby, Izzy was breech. We never heard that before, just that her labor was incredible long & she needed to be hospitalized & have a C-Section. This shows just how absolutely stupid these girls & their husbands are. Here Jill has supposedly gone through midwifery training, doesn't have any pre-natal care & doesn't know her baby is breech. Did she just think all first babies take a long labor...like 80 hours? Does she have any idea how close that baby must have come to dying, as well as she herself, just to be able to, say I had a "homebirth," & then she did it again with Sam. This is beyond ridiculous. I can't believe that these babies a well as their mothers, have not died during this show they are putting on for the fans.

Elspeth said...

Izzie was actually transverse and there was no way Jill was ever going to deliver that baby vaginally. It was total ignorance or obstinacy on her part.

I Believe said...

Apparently it's a combination of both ignorance & obstinacy on Jill's part. I've never bought the theory that the Duggars just didn't want to spend the money on Dr.'s or hospital care, as they end up with it when it becomes necessary. I believe it's more that they are the "Chosen People," & God will take care of them with medical help, when absolutely necessary. The girls are certainly aware that their mom had prenatal care & had many, many, hospital births. So why would they claim they don't want prenatal care or hospital births? Perhaps Anna set the tone, when she & Josh decided on a home birth at the last minute when Dr. Sarver was out of town & that episode brought in so many viewers. Viewers equal money. I'm sure homebirths equal more viewers.

I Believe said...

Re: Elspeth's comment about Jill either being ignorant or obstinate. I totally agree with your comment. However I still don't understand how any woman could have that much training as a midwife & not realize that she had more of a problem (transvers or breech baby)with the baby she was trying to deliver. How could she not realize, she needed to get to the hospital way before she did?

Unbelievable said...

Yes Jill was both ignorant & obstinate. What "midwife" would admit that she took castor oil in order to mover her labor along? When I think of how that baby could have died. I hope midwives are not regularly suggesting castor oil to their patients. It seems to me that using castor oil during labor, was something done back in the forties & fifties, with poor outcome. So not advisable these days & it's never going to help if your baby is in the transverse or breech position. Get to the hospital & don't try another home birth with your next child, unless you want to risk your child's life & probably your own.

Katie said...

Wondering what serious complications Sam could have endured as a full term baby to be in the hospital for 2 weeks. That must have cost over $100,000. Was it due to Zika and now he has lifelong problem? We will never know because that would speak to their stupidity and God no singling them out for special protection in the jungles and at childbirth.

Linda said...

I think given Jill's history with Izzie that either GBS that was untreated during labor or possibly not identified before birth or inhaled meconium leading to pneumonia or other respiratory disease or oxygen deprivation during labor are good contenders for Sam's problems and NICU stay.

Elspeth said...

Jill's midwife training was next to useless. Plus her mentor midwife pushed a lot of woo and other nonsense and non-traditional views. She is barred from practicing in Arkansas because she almost caused a baby's death from GBS because she didn't give the mother antibiotics and told her they weren't necessary. I know someone who took the practice exam for the midwife exam that Jill announced she passed. This person scored in the 90s and has never taken a single midwifery class or read a single midwifery textbook. That shows how easy the coursework is that the exam is so readily passed by a completely lay person.

Midwives like the one Jill trained under are particularly dangerous because they push old-fashioned ideas (castor oil) and "all natural" approaches over proven medical methods. Jill seems to have bought into it and nearly killed two babies because of it.

Derick needs to be told that when a person has a real J.O.B., they GIVE you money for your efforts. If he needs money to live, a job will give that to him and his family. I believe he is exuding more effort in grifting and begging for donations than a real full time job would require. He'd get a check every two weeks, rain or shine. Silly boy.

I swear Michelle is on something like meds after watching Kendra shop for bridal dresses. "The cap-sleeves are PRECIOUS" . #1 Cringe-worthy moment of the night. Another thing while I'm at it. LOL Long, waist length, stringy hair isn't flattering on a 50+ yr old woman who has 19 children and 10+ grandkids. Get real. And those Nurse Rachett black shoes are the worst. I hope some night while Jimboob and Mechelle are asleep, someone (cough Jana) sneaks this suckers out of the laundry room shoe pile and burns them.

Because he was deliriously happy that his plan of snagging a Duggar daughter was actually coming true and he didn't want to appear in a suspicious light to Jiminy Billy Bob by negotiating a contract. He just 'let it ride. Now he's sorry. I hope he writes that book..he will either get paid by a publisher OR he will get paid off to keep quiet by Jiminy Billy Bob. Winning.

sandi said...

Ellie,Michelle said 'sweet' and 'precious' at least 3x when she was introducing Lauren.Does she not know any other words?
She said she was a Proverbs 31 woman.I wonder if she is going to get up at night and gather food from afar.LOL.
I'm sure Lauren will be 'big pregnant'soon after the wedding. After all, they treat marriage as if it is a license to have sex.Jmo

Kendra's grandmother's hair wasn't any better than Michelle's. Long hair, YES, on an older woman just doesn't look flattering in the least.

Willow said...

Yes, Michelle wore the green blouse AGAIN. As far as the shoes, if they are for foot or leg or back problems, JB could afford to have some more stylish ones custom made for her. At her age, he needs to stop worrying about men lusting after her. lol

Real World said...

I thought Jill was no longer a part of the show. She appeared in the interview portion of the show, which must mean she should be compensated.

Does Jing have a "no pants/shorts" clause in her contract? Her mini golf dress was quite short for Duggar standards, though.

OMG, skeletons in the prayer closest is a good one!!

Long hair on older women? I think it depends on the woman. I knew a woman who was 60 who had long silver hair - it was beautiful! But, she had the attitude to go with it; Michelle does not. On another note, is Michelle just a couple years younger than Kendra's Grandma?

I thought she looked great in that dress! So refreshing to see her break away from dowdy!

Kendra's mom is beautiful & very stylish!

I get tired of seeing the tee-shirt top of the bridal gown. They could at least vary it a bit with a short v neck. They all look like tee shirts.

Aunt Bea said...

I'm glad Kendra liked her wedding gown, as it was for her to like, but I didn't like it very much. It LOOKED like two different gowns sewn together. The top was such a plain t-shirt style, full of 'sparkles' and looked 'heavy', as the skirt was white, light and flowy.
