I just saw the photo Jill posted of derrick and herself posing with the Oklahoma ladies basketball team. Why is she wearing a ridiculously tight regular t-shirt with a down to the floor cotton stripe shirt? It looks terrible!! She obviously has maternity clothing. Why would she choose to look like a homeless person? The shirt is so tight it looks like she can't breathe.

I just left Walgreens, and this weeks issue of PEOPLE is at the checkout. Jessa and Ben cover the entire front of the magazine.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there is a text balloon next to her head that says "SEXIEST DUGGAR ALIVE"! Wondering how that got by Jim Bob and has he had a stroke yet?

Patricia A said...

I read on another forum that the Duggars have an announcement scheduled for Tuesday.

Hannah said...

I wonder if its the gender reveal

Patsy said...

It's my understanding that PEOPLE pays for front cover photos but NOT for their articles. It's all about the $.

Amber said...

Has anyone seen where Jill and Derick's faces were morphed to see what their child will look like? People kept commenting at how much they look alike. May I post the link?

Amber said...

Re: sexiest duggar alive.....

So that means what.... That it isn't jimBob, Josh, Jill Grandma, Michelle.....Or any of the rest in the house, right?

I only have 3 siblings so if one of them was voted the sexiest (our last name) alive I'd say "Meh"

I betcha though it chaps Jill.

Re: duggars announcement on tuesday...

Gee, could it be a gender reveal for Anna? I will be on pins and needles waiting NOT.

Dayna said...

Derick commented on how loud Jill talks. That would have embarrassed me as it sounds so hillbilly. I thought running around barefoot, sharing beds, sleeping on a bed without sheets, eating in the bathroom, kids licking the floor, Hannie crawling up on the soundmans neck and siblings walking on counters was
pretty hick like. I thought I was watching some of Honey BooBoos family especially after hearing and observing some of Jim Bob (think the mini-golf episode).

I really have to say I think it has to do with something about Joseph duggar and one of the bates girls. why would the duggars all of the sudden let on of their kids move away and go to college.

Willow said...

I think Erin and Chad are announcing their gender reveal on their show on Thurs. Maybe the Duggars want to get Anna's in first? Would almost have to be that or Jessa pregnancy? Like my fellow readers here.. have my pins and needles ready!! Happy Monday and have a great week everyone.

If the "announcement" is Josh and Anna's gender reveal, People mag. beat them to the punch.

http://www.people.com/article/josh-anna-duggar-reveal-sex-fourth-baby-19-kids-and-counting

Looks like Mac is getting a sister.

So does this mean the Tuesday announcement is something different? Another courtship (Jana, I hope)? Or are Jessa and Ben expecting?

Anonymous said...

On People.com it says Anna is expecting a girl!!

Nat said...

People mag have got the gender reveal of course.
Girl

re: the "big" announcement. Josh and Anna are having a girl. It was posted just a few hours ago on a major magazine website (think Jessa and Ben on the cover this week).

Virginia said...

Anna and Josh actually did the gender reveal today. It's a girl.

Linda said...

Baby number four is a girl.

Abby Jenness Stempien said...

Anna is having a girl. Josh was pretty unemotional in the People Magazine announcement.

Mommy in PA said...

Looks like it will be a girl for Josh & Anna. Another sister mom in training but at least Mackynzie won't be stuck doing it all herself in a few years...

Anonymous said...

What is the point of the week-long build up for the "big announcement" when it's revealed by People Magazine twitter the day before the show? Can anyone say double dipping? What a pack of manipulative creeps. They're too modest and pure for TV and magazines but they sure know how to use them for their financial gain. Self absorbed, smug and conceited; you know, all the things that their beloved Jesus preached against. I guess all those $$$ signs are now showing how shallow their religious roots really are.

Stephanie said...

Thank God he's sending Mac some help to raise the siblings if Anna keeps going.

Anna be practical. Four kids is a big family. Most minivans have seats for five maybe, six kids. Once you pass this mark, you will be in a utilitarian passenger van while Josh can drive a convertible to work.

I give the same advice to mothers of two. Once you have the third baby, the sedan is too tight and you have to get a bigger car. At a restaurant you need a table for five and the wait is always longer. Hotel rooms you need a roll away bed. Most houses are three bedrooms.

Speaking as the mother of three, the world is designed for a family of four.

Allie said...

So TLC has great ways to assure their ratings will be high. They say there will be a big announcement and like a bunch of lemmings a bazillion lovers and haters all tune in to hear the lame announcement. The build up to the announcement keeps people talking and by golly, Jim Bob is raking in the money with this idiotic show.....thanks, in part, to many of us who think they should not even be on television.

Detwiler said...

I'm betting it is Jessa since they tried to throw us off with the adoption talk.....and now we are told they can't adopt yet. We haven't seen any pictures with her stomach showing in some time.

Tell you what....I won't watch since doing so helps their rankings. However, would someone please post the announcement on here as soon as you can?

funny face said...

Since when should what kind of car you can drive or what size table you get at a restaurant dictate how many kids you have? If they want more, and can afford it and can love them all, then I say good for them!

ellen said...

In bed with the flu and i watched Josh and Anna's wedding, they had people cooking food and stirring what looked like potato salad with their bare hands!! I also noticed they wear the same shirts, lol

Anonymous said...

For a family that talks about self control they sure can't wait to share a secret. They let the big news out today, Anna is having a girl, just couldn't wait untill tomorrow. but after all they are so important, yea right.

Lucy said...

Do we really think that was the Big Secret? Since they are paid extremely well by TLC so now the big kids don't have to grab food and dash to the bathroom to wolf it down.....they wouldn't want to jeopardize their gravy train.

Marites H. said...

Thursday will be the Baby Paine gender reveal on Instagram.

Stephanie said...

Just the practically of the size of your family does dictate purchases big and small. Day to day life changes. I went from twins to three kids and this is just something I remember. We had to get a van and we bought a four bedroom house so each child could have their own personal space. Twins usually ended up in one room or another when theu were little but as teens they gladly had their own bed and space.
Cars, houses, vacations are big purchases. I think its something tp consider. The third child we had seemed to really change how we did things.

Lisa said...

Thank you anonymous! I was thinking the same. Annoying how they can't save an announcement for one venue, instead they pull this. I'm not watching.

Does anyone know why on Jill and Derick's facebook she has Derick's pictures tagged as Jill Duggar Dillard, instead of with his name. Is that to show he belongs to her?

Pam said...

On Jessa's instagram someone who seems to be a friend commented about her glowing from the pregnancy. She was challenged and the person said to just ask Jessa.... And that she is due on early October. Hmmm..... I guess we will see if this is a red herring.

Re: Family-Size I'd like to say, that I grew up as the youngest of four and it is of course complicated to organize. Though in the 70ies, we didn't have to have secure seats for kids or seatbelts in the back. So I sat on my sisters legs and nobody worried. BUT: personally I like it better the way it is now, with more security, even though there is less space and bigger cars are needed for bigger families.
Just saying.

It surprises me that the Duggars find out the gender before birth. Have they ever addressed the issue?

Sarah said...

Yes, we've known that Jessa and Ben lived in Grandma's house where Josh and Anna lived for quite some time now. Their first kitchen pictures gave it away.

Heart in Florida said...

The Duggars talk a big talk about their "self control" abilities, yet have absolutely no confidence of belief in their ability to carry out those things without having to have a 24/7 guard described as a "chaperone". Yet another contradiction...

I find it odd how passionate they are about finding out the gender before birth, too. Given that they all want seven million kids, they are bound to have some of each gender. Why all the excitement not only about finding out but the squealing they do once they know?

Heart in Florida said...

Glad that I am not the only one who noticed Josh and Anna's lack of enthusiasm in learning the sex of M4? I think they already knew..that big TLC announcement maybe is something else..and this was to decoy. No way those two didn't know already. Josh had 2 cupcakes and he first had a chocolate one, then he had a vanilla one in the stills...so set up!
It also is obvious to me in the "derickdillard cat video" that they were intentionally trying to line up with that poor cat to hit or scare it. I can't believe these people how childish and silly they are,..they are supposed to be adults?

Lisa said...

Wow that video of Derick hitting the cat, that was on purpose! He chose to sit down there and sledded right into the poor cat while everyone laughed.... Disgusting!!
You can tell a lot about someone's character by how they treat defenseless animals. For shame!

It's Meridith Vierra,I know,I just think she deserves it for having to put up with JB's ridiculous sex jokes and innuendo. She always looked like she wanted to roll her eyes when he said "we're having fun trying!",and instead she always said something like, "Jim Bob,you sly dog you!".

Who is yelling "push him..push him" in the cat video-I don't recognize the voice.....by the way that was very pathetic and indicative how how they treated the cat. It tells me a lot when people mistreat animals.

Andrea said...

Okay . . .were to begin. Firstly, Anna is as odd and cold as Michelle. The only one projecting any sort of exciting was Mackenzie and only for the briefest of moments. It is so very strange. Secondly, Derrick is clear of a very low mental capacity. Who in their right mind aims to take out of cat while sledding and then posts it to instagram. Seriously, yesterday he writes on instagram that he is so pleased to work at Walmart. Does he not realize, his days at Walmart could be numbered for a stunt like the one he pulled. I'm finding the contact information for the PR person at Walmart right now to alert them of his behaviour and his association with their organization.

Jeanna said...

re: the video showing DerrickDillard sledding and running into the cat - it is CLEAR that he intended to hit the cat. You can hear him say at the beginning "okay move cat" as he walks over to position himself in direct line to hit the cat. The voice yelling "push him, push him" sort of sounds like Amy to me.

Andrea said...

Email Walmart Media Relations department to complain about this guys behavior.

https://news.walmart.com/reporter/

I realize that what Derrick does in his personal life is of no business of Walmarts, but on March 1st he posts this disgusting video and the following day he posts that he so proud to work at Walmart. He did it to himself. Sickos like that need to know that mistreating animals is no laughing matter.

J said...

Okay, sledding towards the cat is not very nice and definitely not something I agree with. But does he deserve people rallying to get him fired for it? That seems extreme.

ellen said...

Well that video sure opened a new can of drama for the Duggars, they are being trashed all over. I cant wait to hear their response to this one. Nobody likes animal abuse....

Irene said...

I saw the video today and was totally digusted with the whole scene.
I had high hopes when Derrick entered into the show. Maybe Jill would get a life outside of the Gothardite mindset, or at least a bit more common sense. It now turned out that Derrick is as bad as she is. These people have no respect for others outside their belief system and couldn't care less about other creatures.
I sort of expect there will be an explenation of sorts soon with may be Jill or Michelle telling us in a squeaky voice that thing were not as they appeared. Like we are to believe a word they say now!
All I can hope for now is that the cat got away and learned to stay away from these 'people'.
Sharla, if you don't want to publish this, I understand. But I had to get this of my chest!

Rant over, for now.

Andrea said...

I totally agree. I don't believe he needs to be fire, just that the video needs to be taken down.

momand2boys said...

I read a lot here but don't post often as I don't have much to say that hasn't been covered elsewhere. But, the video today of Derrick, a college educated "man" with a good job, choosing to demonstrate immoral behavior in front of CHILDREN? That is far more immoral than holding hands or kissing someone before marriage. That is far more immoral than showing some skin or wearing a pair of jeans. And I totally think he deserves whatever consequences he gets including people complaining to his employer and/or to the TV station. I am beyond appalled!

Beth Anne said...

Regarding Derick's sledding incident...

I, too, have mixed feelings about rallying to get him fired. At the same time, his behavior fits right into what we have seen from the Duggars for years. They occasionally have dogs that "hang out" on their property, but are certainly not invited into the house or cared for as most people care for their pets. Who the heck knows what has happened to the kittens/cats that were featured previously. It's sad to think about that.

I always wanted to reach through the T.V. screen and grab one of those half-stray, half-Duggar dogs that showed up now and then. I don't know if it's just a regional thing or not, but up here in the Northeast, you'd be tarred and feathered if you were perceived as having mistreated a defenseless animal :)

Totally said...

I'm not sure if Derick should be fired from Walmart but he should be reprimanded by TLC at the very least. He's just a few days away from being 26yrs old and should know better.

Kimmy said...

Re: taking down the cat video

I think they should leave it up so the whole world can see, instead of sweeping it under the carpet and then trying to deny it happened that way.

RoryBlue222 said...

Derick really showed his maturity level in the sledding video. I'd expect 19 year old Ben or one of the younger Duggar boys to do something stupid like this, but not a 25 year old, married, college graduate, who's about to become a father any day now. No wonder he doesn't seem to mind Jill's juvenile behavior, he's right at her level.

Natalie's Mommy said...

And its BenSeewald thats pushing DerickDillard down the hill! They both need to be reprimanded!

Melissa said...

I agree with others that it appears the cat was actually hit before it was able to jump away. So sad. I, too, will have to read online to see what "explanation" they give for this behavior. I no longer watch their show (have not for the past two years) and vow to never watch again.
From another view of a picture or video online, it appears that few of the little children were watching this all happen. Such a horrible example of how to treat other living creatures. If God cares for the sparrows, then we know He cares for this cat. The Duggars of all people should know this if they follow Biblical prinicples.

_____________________________________
Because Jill has the social maturity of a teenage girl. When a grown woman is not allowed to experience life courts, weds, and beds the first man she is ever allowed to side hug, she tends to be clingy, insecure, and silly. Jill has had it drilled in her head that she needs to do everything in her power to make sure her husband only has eyes for her (if he strays it will be her fault). I have lost a lot of interest in the Duggars, partly because I couldn't stomach the syrupy fakeness. I am though, interested to see if and how Jill and Derick's relationship will change once the baby comes. Jill won't have as much free time to follow Derick around like a love sick puppy.

But come on, it was an accident. If the sled hadn't moved to the left it wouldn't have hit him.

Keeley said...

I watched to see what the big announcement was. What did I miss?

Anonymous said...

Maybe Jim Bob should hop on a cookie sheet and sled down the snowy hill and aim for one of the family pets--you know, to show solidarity with Derick, just like that awful kissy picture he and Michelle posted after Jessa and Ben's racey kissing pic.

Betty said...

The sled from what I could see was pushed straight at the cat. My kids' ears would still be ringing from what I told them if they even thought of pulling a stunt like that. It might not be criminal, but stupid, potentially dangerous for the cat, and definitely not something to be published to the world.

Anonymous said...

The worst part about this video is hitting the cat, hope the cat wasn't hurt. Michelle and Jim Bob need to adress this with the family. Safety is certainly another issue, cant they afford real sleds. What in the world was Derrick sledding on, it looked like a cookie sheet, probably one they used later that day ha ha.We have all sled on things that go fast but considering the money they have they look rediculous with all the paper sleds and junk they use.

Elizabeth said...

If Derrick felt bad about hitting the cat I don't think he would have posted the video. Everyone in the background thought it was hilarious too. This man is setting a terrible example for his future children!

Re: Jill following Derick around like a lovesick puppy.....

I think she will find a way. She is very organized, you know. She will be dragging the baby out in all kinds of weather to take daddy to work, to take him a cold baked potato to eat in the vehicle at lunch and then go pick up daddy. She claims it is so they can have more time together.

ellen said...

I always felt you can tell alot about a person by the way they treat animals. All those Duggar fans are making excuses for him, saying the Duggars would never be so crual to animals. He isn't a Duggar, I want to hear a true apology, not just dance around the issue...

Anonymous said...

Not only did Derrick do something stupid, he looks like a complete idiot in those coveralls with a pan stuck to his rear end. And what in the world is that blue ribbon pinned to his clothes, I wonder what it says.

Syndee said...

I know the subject is the cat lately, but I still can't get over the education thing. So Jill and others will have a home birth, calling on medical professionals only in the event of an emergency. And the medical professionals must be women. But the Quiverfull women can't go to college. So when they have as many babies as possible and start to repopulate (or convert or whatever) society, then won't they run out of women doctors? Like where will they come from if everyone is Quiverfull? Did they sort of miss that in the development of their religion?

Brooke said...

I do think these people are young and very childish and immature in their growth. This explains why they would pull a stunt like this (aim at the cat). This is something you would see preteens do. I bet they thought the cat would be scared and run off before he got to it.
And was that Jessa egging him on?

Picking a Name is Fun said...

I have watched the cat/sled video several times. You can tell that there is a 'groove' in the snow where they have been sledding. that path will make the 'sled' go faster. Now the cat for some reason gets over on their little path.

They SHOULD have had someone go and remove the cat. I don't think Derrick was trying to actually hit the cat...BUT he has no regards for the creature...treating it as a nuisance. The hysterical laughing is heard before he even sits down on his 'sled'.

The whole thing is stupid and they should take it down and apologize for hitting the cat. Cats are very quick ...and I feel like it did probably get bumped...but not rain over. Still...I do think it was cruel to not wait for it to get out of his way. NOT a good example to set either...maybe a learning lesson for The Learning Channel.

Heart in Florida said...

I think Michelle Duggar misunderstands Mother Teresa's "too many flowers" comment as do they misunderstand Jesus' "be fruitful and multiply' meaning...
Mother Teresa meant that she could never take in too many children to care for THAT ARE ALREADY HERE ON EARTH AND ARE IN NEED...she didn't mean keep making more of your own....
Jesus meant to preach and share the Gospel WITH THOSE ALREADY HERE and grow in numbers of believers,, He also didn't mean to keep making more of your own...just another way they squeeze things to fit their own agenda....

Csnee317 said...

People really want him fired for the cat incident? Seriously? Do I agree with what he did? I don't really get the uproar because I guess I am interpreting the video differently. I'm a huge animal fan and I have always hated how the Duggars seem to treat their supposed "pets", but I just didn't read the video (and yes I've seen it, I follow them/him on Instagram where it was originally posted) the same way everyone else is. How about he has to make an apology and do some community service hours at the local ASPCA? But getting fired? Really?

Heart in Florida said...

Why would Jill expect and derickdillard agree to eat his lunch hunched over in their car in the parking lot every day? Is she still doing this in the cold winter? Was she having him eat his lunch in the hot car during the summer so he can go back to his office smelling of perspiration? What is wrong with them? Will she drag a baby with her after he's born to sitin a hot car in the parking lot too? Let the guy have his come down time at lunch and eat in a comfortable employee cafeteria, which he is fortunate the company provides as those are becoming harder and harder to find...Jill shows absolutely no connection to having a real 9-5 job. I doubt that she respects his work and having to go to IT every day, unlike her leisurely 'Pops".

Jill goes to Derivk's work in order to be his accountability partner. It's no doubt, Jim Bob and Michelle's idea, you absolutely cannot trust Derick alone at work on his own for an hour each day! What if he spoke to someone of the opposite sex, or sat at the same table with a group of friends and talked about something other than Bible verses? What if he got invited out to dinner with a normal couple and he actually wanted Jill to come along??? We can't have that!!!! He may get idea!!!! The Duggars have them under their thumb now! It is imperative to keep him there! If he has to eat a cold tater every day in order for that to happen, so be it!!!!

sunny side up said...

Actually, the "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth" was a command given to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. It's in the book of Genesis. So, yes, they are interpreting that one correctly. Jesus told his apostles to "Go forth and preach to all nations." I think you confused the two. :)

Patrice said...

I'm sure Jill will find a way to cling to Derrick even after the baby is born. After all, Mommy Michelle showed her how wonderful it was to nurse a baby on a float, and in a second grade classroom! Jill will bundle up the kid and take it to WalMart two or three times a day to see its Daddy. Only now they won't eat in the car; she will enter the employee breakroom and nurse it so that she can be an encouraging example of wholesome goodness to the heathen WalMart employees-women especially who dare to work outside the home! Guess what, Jilly? No one cares!

Betty said...

Jill and Derick are married and don't need accountability partners. I think the internet fiction is running wild again. Josh goes to work by himself and Anna can go to the store by herself. Jill, too, can go shopping by herself. It just doesn't make good TV.

I work with a cat rescue (but other animals are brought in as well). All I can say, without having been there, is that you know a person by how well they treat animals. The Duggars have never treated any of their animals with anything other than a "yard dog" mentality. Thank goodness it was a cookie sheet, not a real sled, otherwise there might have been a totally different discussion. No, I don't think Derick should be fired from his job. But having the Duggars, including Derick, do some community volunteer work at a humane society might open their eyes a bit.

They are just looking worse and worse. I really was hoping DerickDillard would have changed Jill but nope. We can clearly see the Duggars are changing him. Do you ever think he gets to see his family as much as the Duggars? I doubt it. I think Derick had a normal upbringing, normal college and then went on his mission trip. Became a 'prayer partner' with Jimboob who pawned Jill on him. And I bet Derick being in Nepal was too excited to have Jill come visit him and was most likely like 'Can't wait to hit that!'
And when he sealed the deal with the teenage 'women' he married, had the very unexciting sex with his new baby carrier his fate was sealed.
I commented on a another tread but I browsed through Derick's Intsagram to the first few pictures he ever put on there and everything seems totally light years different than now. Not sure if those pictures are still up but man it's Really sad.

You know Blogger Theresa I have wondered the same thing. I look at pics of my mother pregnant from the 1970s and 80s and her clothes are so loose you can barley tell she is expecting. I think it has to do with "belly bump" culture and also the pro-life culture. I'm pregnant, I'm proud, I WILL show it off!

Let's think this through. If any of the other girls pranced around in something so tight that showed off every nook and cranny what would j&m say? Does she get a pass to show off her body just because she
is Pregnant? Does she have to stop when she isn't pregnant and go back to modest clothing?

I think Jim bob and Michelle have turned their family into going after the love of money. There is no reason for every step of their lives to be in a magazine, on facebook or television. Greed has taken over this family if you can not show your photos because the tv show has the rights to them! I am concerned that their ministry has turned from spreading the word of God but to greed. Lord help them.

Apparently yes. You can show every nook and cranny, you can be naked during filming during the birth, you can even be filmed sitting on the toilet. All, and only, because you are pregnant.

Ginger said...

RE: Bonnies's comment on Jill's clothing. Yes absolutely she can prance around in tight clothing. The Duggars like nothing better than for people to know about a pregnancy in their family. I think once she delivers the baby she will be expected to go back to "modest clothing." Of course it will only be briefly, as she will soon be pregnant again & again & again. You all know the drill.

two things i thought were ridiculous.
1. josh stated that taking his kids to the music store was like opening up pandora's box to them. helllllo. does he know that pandora's box was full of the evils of the world. saying he's opening up pandora's box is not the same as saying opening up a box of possibilities. not even close.
2. i thought it was so dumb that jessa said over and over she's sending out 900 invitations. who counts their potential guest list in terms of invitations. you could the people you invite, not the number of invitations you send out. she should have said we invited X number of people (which was probably close to 4000 or more) instead of acting like the number of invitations had anything to do with the number of people she could have.
3. I also noticed how ben said he invited anyone and everyone he'd ever met. this is your wedding, it's supposed to be celebrated with your friends and family. not some random person you met at the grocery store. it's been said a million times, but what is wrong with these people???

Robin Wright. I suspect you are a treasure to your family. I simply adored your post & enjoyed a great laugh. The Duggars often travel to El Salvador to separate the people of that country from their Catholic faith. As a Catholic I find this to be insulting. The Duggars are Baptist. I was raised Baptist it's a cult & I bolted from it. I have found peace & love in the Catholic faith. Hey Duggars many Catholics will go to heaven. What will Jim Bob do? That is if he makes it to that place.

I have a sneaky feeling, that at some point they will allow their men to become doctors. One in every family. Therefore, though it would be a male doctor, he would at least be of the family and they will make that the important point.

As to the cat and their hate of cats or dislike or whatever. Or let me say alleged just in case:

Syndee said...

Re: I have a sneaky feeling, that at some point they will allow their men to become doctors. One in every family

OK for this to happen you have to assume that any of them COULD get through med school, which probably is impossible with that home schooling SOTDRT thing they do.
Also would the male doctors tend to their sisters or nieces or whoever? Kinda weird....

But you're right that's a better option than the one that occurred to me, that they would just never consult a high risk physician, and if the mother or child becomes harmed or dies, well that was the will of God. We saw that in the west coast, those religious groups that wouldn't let their kids get medical treatment, and some of those children died of very curable things. It was very big in the news about 10 yrs ago. So it's not unheard of in this country to refuse lifesaving medical treatment.

Syndee said...

OK another weird thing about this family occurred to me (I'm on a roll :)

In those large country or "backwoods" families with many kids, sure they might have never been to school, but usually they have great skills in other areas like farming (like the Amish) or hunting or fishing like the deep south, or managing animals like ranchers. Lots of educated city-folk types think these professions are easy, like high tech people retiring and trying to start an organic farm, then they usually fail miserably because they really do take a lot of skill that is passed down many generations and they really work hard.

But I don't see the Duggars as having any skills at all in the country categories - they are not great cooks or bakers, they don't do specialized sewing or woodworking, they don't tend to any animals at all, they don't farm or even seems to have much of a garden for all that land. So what do they do but have babies.

Ramona said...

The Duggars should have to pose for a poster saying "Spay and Neuter", as punishment for catgate. I used to be a fan of this show, but now I will never watch it again. Threw my dvds of old seasons of the show in the trash where they belong!!!!

Heart in Florida said...

We will not ever see or hear one word regarding the "catgate" incident from any of the Duggars or their in-law relatives, I guarantee you. I don't think the Duggars have any problem seeing specialists either male or female. Michelle was already seen by specialists with Josie and she consulted a high risk pregnancy specialist to see about possibly having more children after Josie.

C'mon TLC - We want you to show us how pets in the Duggar clan are treated, and I don't just mean the poor orange cat that was targeted by DerDil. Show us what happened to all of the those kittens we saw at the Big House and at the Joshies's.

Who shows affection to the dogs or are they there to sit on the porch and run off Catholics? Do they have actual dog bowls or paper plates?

no1, wouldn't it be funny if the duggar dogs do have actual real food and water bowls while the family eats off styrofoam with plastic utensils. Any family who truly lives by the motto "buy used and save the difference" would not be using disposable dishes for EVERY meal.

Melissa said...

Some online articles are suggesting that the Duggars do a community service project at an animal shelter. I am not sure that is a very good idea. Even prior to the sledding incident, they did not treat pets very well. If TLC does take this and run as a way to smooth over the incident, then the shelter is going to need A LOT of volunteers to monitor the Duggars as they care for the animals, clean cages, etc. During all of this, we will see Jim Bob and Michelle just "supervising" and not actually doing any work themselves. They will be too busy talking to the cameras. Gag. That is why I think it is a horrible idea. Honestly, I hope they just ignore the issue like it never happened. They are the last people to serve as examples for how to treat pets.

I just read an interview with Jessa in the Low Country Current, written on March 4 prior to her speaking at the Southern Women's show on Saturday (Read more here: http://www.islandpacket.com/2015/03/04/3624445_jessa-duggar-seewald-of-19-kids.html?rh=1#storylink=cpy). She says, "We did write a section in (our book Growing Up Duggar) about dating and finding the right guy and all that. But that was before any of us had really walked that road. It was just advice that other people had given us and things we assumed we would do when we came to that. It's been interesting now that Jill and I have gotten engaged and married. We actually are in the process of writing an additional chapter for the paperback version for a sort of updated edition. We'll share our story and different things we learned along the way."

Two things strike me about this: first, there is a certain hubris in a 22-year-old thinking she can instruct other young women about something she hasn't yet experienced (dating, marriage). Second, it seems ludicrous that four months of marriage (8 months for Jill) qualifies a person to teach authoritatively on matrimony. Hold off on that update to your book for about 10 years when you'll have some real-life experience under your belt.

By the way, when asked about starting her own family with Ben, Jessa said, "We are open to having children biologically whenever God will give us children. We're not doing anything to prevent that." So those of us who hoped this couple would take some time to get to know one another and get established had better think again. This is another pitfall of reality TV: the subjects of these shows start to believe their own publicity and presume they have something to teach the rest of us who don't have the privileges they (in this case, the Duggars) enjoy. The rest of us live in the real world, where a young couple finishes college/trade school, finds (real) jobs, saves up for a home, car, etc, and THEN starts a family. I know the Duggars are well-intentioned, but they don't seem to understand how arrogant they appear to others.

One more comment about the cat as I see it:
A mere "move, cat", from a distance, with the cat's back towards you, with multiple other sounds going on is NO attempt to help the kitty out of the way..It simply was a stupid thing to do and insensitive of derickdillard. He should have known better. He also had a very wide area to choose from in which to slide down that incline...a grown man of 25 yrs old acting and playing like one of the little kids is quite telling...He needs to grow up already and take JillyMuffin along with him to "grown up behavior school".

Heart in Florida said...

I, for one, would like to hear Mary Duggar's story...from she, herself. How did she grow up, date, live with her husband, and when did she come to this type of religious practice, if indeed, she shares those beliefs? Why is she not in her own peaceful home? Why stay at her son's house? I really think that would make an interesting episode..yes, a whole episode.

Syndee said...

Re: Why is she not in her own peaceful home? Why stay at her son's house?

I more and more think it's because she sees she's needed. She sees there really aren't any normal adult role models for the kids. I remember one episode where a bunch of the girls were making cookies and Jessa was pretty loose with measuring things, and the grandma kind of gently reprimanded her, not in a goofy girly voice but in a normal adult showing a child some direction kind of voice. If I were her I'd be kind of scared to leave, knowing what the kids are stuck with when she's gone.

ellen said...

I dont think Mary or her husband shared the Duggar beliefs, i kind of remember an episode earlier on where they had mentioned not understanding why they would want so many kids. Jimbob's parents stayed with them towards the end of his illness, maybe mary didn't want to be alone, but to see her now as queen of the laundry pile is very sad...

LAMcp said...

I think Mary likes to stay busy. Doing the laundry is probably not too taxing as she does have Jinger's help. She probably earns some money from the show, and I think she enjoys the grandkids. I think she has also become more religious in her later years and may be fully on board with the Gothard lifestyle.

Mary strikes me as a "good sport". She has been dragged along to things and has eagerly done things (like skiing for the first time) that many women her age would not consider doing for fear of injury or because of more frail health). Mary may be close to Michele. For all we know, maybe she doesn't have many surviving friends in the area, so living with JB and M gives her time to socialize, and she can escape to see Amy and hr daughter when ever she chooses.

As much as I dislike JB and M, I really don't think they are keeping Mary hostage. I think she lives there and helps out because she wants to, and I think if she ever said "I am done with doing laundry" they would be fine with that. Frankly, they have other kids who could take it on, or they could afford to hire someone to do laundry and clean for them.

Heart in Florida said...

In the segment where Grandma Duggar politely instructed Jessa to measure when she bakes, if I remember correctly, Jessa shrugged her grandmother off and was quite disrespectful...so why does she stay and take that flippant treatment? It's beyond me.

Syndee said...

That's the episode I was referring to, when Jessa sort of rolled her eye's at grandma's advice on baking the cookies. The grandma probably just knows, all kids are sort of like that, and she just sighs and continues, no this is the right way to do it. If not her, who else would try to guide them? So that's why I feel she believes she is needed to help raise the kids properly.

Does anyone else find it not modest the way this pregnancy of JIll's is going? She wears the skin tight clothing to make sure you notice she had sex and 'got it right' the first time. The pictures of the grandmas hands on her belly is just creepy.

If you want it for your own memories, fine, but to put it out there for public consumption is just not modest.

For all of the talk about being modest and virginal, they sure do like to make sure everyone else knows that they like to have sex.

I remember getting larger clothing when even my maternity clothing started to be slightly tight. I just don't understand the difference of before you are pregnant, you must wear hems down to here, necks up to here an sleeves so we don't reveal your body so you are modest, yet after you get a + pregnancy test, you can wear skin tight so everyone sees you coming a block away and they will know that you are going to have a baby.

If Ben lives on the Duggar compound, why didn't he just drive separate to the church or ride w duggars instead of having his parents drop him off? And, did I miss the Josie seizure episode? Everyone seemed to think they were waiting for Michelle to babysit Mac & Michael. There was no reason for Michelle to even ride along to the midwife's except to be able to say that she was present at the birth of all her grandchildren.

Regarding Catgate: it's been mentioned that perhaps DerDil was unable to stop the "sled" or turn away to miss the cat. A) the hill was not at all steep, and B) he always had the option of falling to one side or the other. This was wholly volitional behavior.

to the cat incident:
The hill didn't look steep but who knows how steep it actually seemed to an almost 26 year old who probably hadn't been sledding since a kid. He probably assumed the cat would move as he was being egged on by the Duggar kids who owns the cat. Maybe Derick doesn't even own a cat and didn't know how stubborn cats can be.
The Duggar kids should of known better if they own this animal. But then again, I think they only see and play with them outside. Not really sufficient time to bond with it or get to know its personality like you would a house cat.

Some people are praising Jill for continuing her midwife studies in response to the picture that was posted of her holding a newborn she helped deliver. I think that this picture was posted in direct response to people that complained that jill quit midwifery after getting engaged. The midwife that jill studies under has a Facebook where they routinely post pictures of newborns along with the midwife/student midwife who delivered the baby. I find it interesting that the last time that Jill was in one of these pictures is June 2014. Prior to June, she was frequently in these photos. This makes me think that Jill really hasn't continued her studies that diligently after marriage.

I don't believe for one minute that Jill is continuing her midwife studies & the practical aspect; assisting with delivering babies. If that were true they would have made a big deal out of Jill & Derick cutting their honeymoon short in order for her to be working on her studies & rushing off to deliver babies. What happens if it's time for Derick to go to work & he needs a ride or it's his lunch time or he needs a ride home from work? Not enough hours in the day for all these things Jill is supposedly doing. Her house must be a mess with all these outside duties. As with most things these days the Duggers more than exaggerate anything & everything. As a matter of fact I don't believe anything they say: Jana is a concert pianist, John David is a police officer Josh is a graphic artist among other things, Jinger is on the verge of being a professional photographer. Anyone know of any other professions they are involved in?

I don't know about anyone else, but I learned about the Bible in high school. It was part of a "Bible as literature" section in my 10th grade English class. It's quite possible that the NYC public schools are teaching students about Islam so they can be, you know, informed about the religion and not making baseless assumptions.

And yes, this is only about having the day off from school because of Muslim holidays. Not necessarily learning -- and certainly not advocating -- for the religion. NYC schools have given Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur off for students because there is a large Jewish population in the city, so even if you're not Jewish, you have the day off. They are just trying to make it fair for all students, something that I think is respectable.

Also, regarding Michelle's improper "workout wear", she simply wasn't dressed properly for one..how would she do squats? How would she "get down there" exercising, she would be stepping all over that long skirt, which IMO wasn't the right material in the first place..it looked stiff and not moveable..There are plenty of "proper" fabrics and short lengths that would have covered her derierre "tunic style" and would have been the right choice...My guess is that her "lower trunk and thighs" are a mess and simply was too embarrassed,, NOT TOO MODEST, to show it. They didn't really work out any way..that was NOT a workout. Also which is it? Is Cindy a NICU nurse OR a personal trainer? TLC, keep to your continuity in this fictional program about a real family.

Missy - They are also involved in "Duggar Studios". I haven't heard them proclaim that to be professional, though. At least not yet. A question for everyone - what constitutes "professional" ? Does it just mean you get/got paid for a service, or does it mean you have a certain amount of experience, or does it only apply to the education/training of something? Just curious. Maybe it could refer to how good the quality of your work is?

In my opinion, a professional implies that you are brining a certain amount of knowledge or skill set to the table and receive monetary compensation for them.
Regarding the lack of continuing education for the children. As a parent, I have instilled in my child from the time she was old enough to learn that you must be able to take care of yourself. From a doctor to a dog groomer, a person has must be able to manage for themselves vis a vis financially. Being a wife and mother is very important, that I do not deny, but a person should have some skills in the event they find themselves divorced or widowed.
Regarding those that find it necessary to shout their religious beliefs from the rooftops. I am secure enough in my faith and do not need the constant reinforcement of sharing it with the world, or in this case, a TV audience to remind me how important it is in my life.
Regarding the number of people invited to the Duggar weddings. Really, they actually know these people well enough to invite them to such a personal family function? I doubt it. I would equate it to Facebook friends; of the 1000 "friends" you might have how many of them do you actually know?

I have a coworker who comes from a "Duggar-like" family. She even met them at homeschooling conferences in Texas. Anyway, she was told that if she left her parents' home without being married, it would be a sin, and she would not be welcomed back to live there under any circumstances. She said that the internet showed her how limited her life really was. She went to college, got a job, and moved out and is so much happier with her freedom, she says. Run, Jana and Jinger, run! Go away to college and live!

I had to chuckle at Jill's comment that she didn't do any cooking during her first trimester because of morning sickness. Twenty-nine years ago during my first pregnancy I worked full-time to put my husband through graduate school and provide our health insurance. I had the miserable, all-day-long form of morning sickness for three months. But I didn't have the choice not to go to work, so I just got real good at timing my dash to the restroom so I could make it before I lost my breakfast. After work and on weekends I dragged my queasy self to the store, cooked dinners, did laundry, and cleaned our little apartment. It never occurred to me to do otherwise. Granted, I should have asked my sweet but clueless husband to help out more, and no doubt he would have. If Jill persists in her vow to have as many kids as God gives her, she is in for a rude awakening when she's pregnant with baby #2 and has to take care of baby #1 no matter how bad her nausea is. I work for an OBGYN practice, and our providers recommend that women give their bodies at least a year to recover after giving birth before they get pregnant again. I hope Jill, with her extensive midwife experience, knows that she can get pregnant while she's breastfeeding.

Re: Willows's comment. I have always believed & it states in: "Webster's Dictionary" that "professional means: An occupation especially one requiring extensive education in a branch of science or the liberal arts. Does that sound anything like the professional world the Duggars live & work in?

I absolutely cannot imagine anyone wanting to watch Jim Bob demonstrate to Jessa & Ben how to kiss. It's disgusting & he's a pervert. So is Michele, as she enjoys it just as much as Jim Bob does. Nothing else to say about that ridiculous performance.

I remember seeing Josie sing on the show once. She must be a professional singer, right?

Willow:

Here's what Merriam-Webster says for professional:

: relating to a job that requires special education, training, or skill

: done or given by a person who works in a particular profession

: paid to participate in a sport or activity

Yeah, if you're paid you're often considered a professional but people don't usually look for whether a person has been paid, they're looking for training, skills, education, certification, experience, quality of work, etc. A professional photographer may not have any formal training or education, he may just have a good eye and natural talent, but he'll have built up a portfolio of his work to show people and will have spent many hours practicing before offering up his services as a "professional". I don't think I'd consider someone who does "instant photography (think Sears Portrait Studio) a professional photographer based on just the training they get at those studios.

In firefighting, it used to be you were a volunteer firefighter or a professional one. Now they often say volunteer or career as the volunteers do the same work and are in the same amount of danger. As a fire chief once told me "the fire is just as hot whether you're a volunteer or paid".

In relation to the Duggars, with a lot of study and practice, Jinger could call herself a professional photographer. She may be pretty well there. If she could apprentice with someone, it could be great. Jana (I'm thinking she's the really musical one?) would really need formal education before she could call herself a professional pianist, harpist, whatever. And she should, she clearly has the ability, with a college degree in music she could make something of it. Especially with the harp as so few people play it. There's just something cool about having a harpist play.

It's not that the girls don't have abilities, skill and potential, they just aren't allowed to really pursue it. Even for Jill, midwifery, which she clearly loves, was just something to occupy her time until she got married and started having babies.

Sorry this is a little long!

I recently watched an interesting program (real not reality) about families who were concerned with being able to finance at least a part of their child's college education. People were interested in what was available as far as: grants, student loans, etc. Anything that would help them help their students go on to college. Some parents had gone to college & some never had the opportunity & regretted it. These people were all very sincere & had kids that had worked from the age of 16 (some earlier than 16)saving their earnings for their own college funds. All I could think of was, how easy it would be financially for Jim Bob to pay for college educations for any of the kids in his family that might choose to go. Here were parents, both working, saving & doing their very best to help put a kid through college, hopefully without too much student debt. None of these people were looking for a handout, they were hard workers that were truly hit hard by the economy over the past few years when they might have been able to save more. It made me feel so sad to think of how important it was to parents who wanted to see their kids go on to college but the cost truly was a tremendous hurdle. None of these parents said; "we didn't go to college so we see no reason for our kids to go." One of Jim Bob's infamous statements.
On the other hand you have Jim Bob complaining about the cost of everything, especially the girls weddings. Actually it's his own fault, as he has to have his very own church. Almost the entire cost of Josh & Anna's wedding was covered by the women of the church where the Kellers attended. So in that way guess Jim Bob lost out big time.

Jessa gave a radio interview and claimed: "The cat just happened to be in the way." Right . . . We saw the video and your Brother in Law actually aimed to hit the cat. The fact that the cat was unharmed is only luck.

per "Missy - A question for everyone - what constitutes "professional" ?"

I was told that a professional is someone who is paid for their service/talent.

Read a new article about Jana leaving home. This is my prediction. Josh will say that Anna is having trouble keeping house is her third trimester and will ask JB and Michelle for advice. JB will suggest that Jana stay with Josh/Anna for a few months. JB/Michelle will suggest their plan to Jana who will graciously accept. Jana will move in with Josh/Anna, if she does enroll in college classes it will be online classes.

I read that during a radio interview with Jessa, she was quoted as stating that "we are well beyond Side hugs now". I am sorry, but that statement and the focus on "sex, sex, sex" is becoming tiresome.

Does this very large family, with quite a few offspring being able to vote, ever sit down and have discussions regarding world affairs, politics, Science, etc.? Is this "Ministry" all about SEX? I would not consider it amusing if my daughter discussed her sex life on radio. I just do not know what is the point. They did not invent reproduction or the method of reproduction. Do these young girls not realize that at least 97% of the male and female population know how to do "it".

I think that if TLC continues to broadcast this show, that it is incumbent on them to show how they really live. The audience is sick to this distorted view of what their Ministry is really all about. Was Jill really not allowed to help Suzanne, Anna's sister, with her pregnancy because she got pregnant without being married? Do they really ostracize family members for not adhering to their belief system. Nice christian view. Didn't Jesus befriend a prostitute?

This candy-coated view of that family is becoming too sweet. They are now all over the rag magazines. Is this what the Ministry is about. Wow! I guess the Kardashians have a Ministry as well. The god they all adore is MONEY JMHO

To no1: I very much appreciated your comment about the purpose of Duggar dogs on the porch to run off Catholics. I could just visualize a scene. As a Catholic, it was a great laugh to the point, I fell off my sofa. Thanks.
