The Lies Behind the Shows

I just saw an article about reality TV that might be interesting to some readers.  I wish all the Duggar blind believers could read something like this about 19 Kids.

Google any of the shows online, and you're bound to find the dirt behind them, from the property buying shows to the survivalist shows. I'm sure the producers of 19K&C have a list of stores & restaurants and bowling alleys and attractions (farms with kiddy trains) who are willing to trade product for some free advertising. No normal family would just decide to go sky diving TWICE with the same company.

Interesting article! It does get annoying when fans assume something never happens because they never saw it happen on the show.

The Duggars are not a ministry. They've sold out to People mag of which I am sure they receive the big $$$. It's just too sad that income will not be used to allow the Duggar kids to go to college. The Duggar kids could be so much more than slaves to JB & M. The Gothardlike way of life is inprisonment of body, mind & soul.

The Duggars have sold themselves to most magazines, they are on the cover of both People and US weekly today. Im sure they will be in the National Enquirer and OK magazine too. For people who said they closely 'monitor' their children's use of the Internet, thats a big lie! Today one of the magazines came out saying Ben's friend who was in the wedding was an ex drug user, dont know if its trur, but who knows...

Thank you so much, Sharla. I had suspected but never knew for sure. It would be fun to have a thread with just the Duggar deceptions....not tons of long winded comments....just a few words to be able to compile a list. Some who worship them need a way to see that most of what they see is a Duggar deception.

My husband was in an airport once and they were filming a reality show, he doesn't remember which one. Anyway, he watched them film the same thing over and over again. If they want real reality they should just issue everyone a body camera.

Erin, I too appreciate Sharla's smart approach to this subject. I believe the blind loyalty of the Duggar supporters are probably very religious & have been "conditioned" from birth or brain washed to believe this tripe. These fans are probably not really educated or progressive thinking. It's basically a tunnel vision approach to buying the Duggar hype.

Sharla you Rock!!

I know people who are well-educated and not religious who like them. They just aren't looking past the surface or giving it any deep thought. The subject of the Duggars came up with my mom once and she's only seen the show maybe twice and she said "but I don't think the mom does much, though". Now, it's hard to make a judgement on any family only having seen two episodes of a reality show but she sure hit that nail on the head.

I read the people magazine article, not only did she go to a chiropractor during labor, but Jill and Derrick went to a couples pedicure appointment. The whole birth story sounds crazy!! It almost sounds like she was not only in labor, but also the one delivering the baby. That baby is so lucky that he made it, she took some serious risks..

sandi said...

Once your water breaks, there is the possibility of the cord becoming prolapsed and cutting off the baby's oxygen supply. It's imperative to be checked for that ASAP once it happens.I hope Jill did that, even if she did go and do other things,(if that's even true).
They are really taking every opportunity to hype this birth story for all it's worth.

You have to get a license to drive. Too bad you don't have to pass a test to have kids!

Watching the moving to DC episode, I dont believe josh and anna were alone in the motor home, i bet joy anna was there, off camera. She said herself thar she watched those kids all the time, 'buddy' The episode also shows how incredibly rude jimbob was to stay another night at the bates, laughing as Josh and Anna are saying, please hurry and Michelle says, they can spend a quiet evening in the motor home. .

Willow said...

Simba - Jana was the one with them on the motorhome vacation. Either way, they were trying to mislead us, but we are not so easily fooled. :)

Pam said...

Simba, I agree, if the story is true, it was very rude of them to stay over at the Bates knowing Josh and Anna had no furnisihings to spend the night in their home. We have to take it with a grain of salt though. The plan could have been for them to stay over all along and just pretend it wasn't in order to add some drama. You never know with them.
I also beleive the Bates had more notice that they were coming than just a few hours.

simba said...

Im sure the Bates knew they were coming all along, if not how did they have all the baby shower decorations and the rocking chair? When jimbob called to say they were stopping by, it gave them 3 hours notice, such lies

Cindy said...

I think Josh and Anna really expected the family to arrive that evening with their belongings. Josh did not look too happy. Jim Bob and Michelle are selfish. This episode opened my eyes.

BrookeC said...

I bet, when the cameras stopped rolling, Anna exploded. No woman is going to be okay with the way they treated them about not showing up... especially in-laws... sorry, not even a "Keep Sweet" Duggar Wife. Nope, she had some choice words to say when the camera crew left. They'd never show that on camera though. oh no.

Kristiana said...

Sharla, thanks for starting this conversation on Duggar Deceptions. I think the elephant in the room is really JB & M's selfishness and total lack of actual parenting skills. They have a responsibility to raise their children. It's not their children's responsibility to raise each other. To assign "jurisdictions," and "buddies" for the younger kids is not parenting.

Leigh Ann said...

The Bateses knew they were coming by but if the plan was to spend the night right from the beginning, Josh wasn't in on it. He was mad and who can blame him. And it's just like Jim Bob to be totally inconsiderate of the Bateses and Josh and Anna. I hope Anna did let them know she was upset. She has to learn to stick up for herself and her kids.

And about the RV episode, I don't see any need for them to have lied and pretended it was just them and the kids. Getting some help on a cross-country road trip with little kids does not make you less of a parent. And the Duggars tend to do things in groups anyway, we would have totally expected it. If I were making such a trip with little kids and had a relative willing to help I'd take them up on it. If Jana didn't want to be on camera she didn't have to be but that doesn't mean they had to to lie about her presence.

Callie said...

Erin, Jim Bob & Michelle are perfect examples of a couple who should have never had kids. In the beginning when JB &. M started having kids, they should have enrolled in parenting classes. Although, even parenting classes may not have taught them how to become adult parents.

So funny because I just watched the Rv/move to DC episode last night! My husband pointed out tons of things that were definitely "staged" How Anna asked Josh to make sure the bouncer was not put in the moving truck and of course it was! All while the TLC people are taping it! Idiots! Why didn't the camera man go grab the bouncer seat off the moving truck. Of course that was all to "build drama" Ok then the accidently leaving the lunch at home so Anna could go take it to him in DC. Why didn't she just leave that lunch at home for the day and Josh could order something then take the sack lunch to work the following day. Well of course they need something to take up time for an episode! I also cannot imagine living in a way where I have microphones clipped to my clothes all day and cameramen in my face. It's crazy how much taping they have to for just a 20 minute episode. I really hope their days of reality tv are over soon but it doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon. Now they have even MORE speaking engagements and people magazine articles. The smallest kids from Jackson on down have suffered the most from constantly being videotaped and dragged around the country for one event after another.

Melissa said...

Callie, I agree that Jim Bob and Michelle should not have had kids (or at least not this big of a family although I do think each of the kids are special). However, it comes out more and more just how much resentment Michelle has for Jana and John David because they were so "complicated" as babies. Is she really so stupid that she cannot realize they were more difficult because there were TWO of them at one time. I am so tired of seeing how badly they treat Jana. The Flea market episode was another where Jessa and Ginger were making fun of Jana and I did not like it.

Callie said...

Melissa, Jedediah & Jeremiah are twins. We rarely see or hear about them. Since these boys are Michelle's second set of twins does she relate to them in the same way as Jana & John David?

Callie said...

Yes, Michelle is really that stupid but believes she's the smartest woman on the planet & the best Mom. Michelle is excellent at fooling herself. Michelle is really great at that ole ATI homeschooling oh yeah baby!

Melissa said...

Callie, good question. Maybe Michelle does have some resentment towards Jed and Jer since they are twins as well. However, by the point that she had both of them, she had the older girls to help out as well as some elderly ladies in the community who helped with various chores (helping teach the girls to sew, helping with homeschooling, helping with laundry). She seems to be distant from all the boys (other than Josh) so it's really hard to tell if she resents them because they may have been more work as babies or if she just doesn't pay much attention to them in general.
I agree that Michelle has an inflated sense of worth, but she plays it off with the act of "sweet humble Michelle" The fact that she tries to justify blanket training (which she did use with Jana and John David) is just appalling.

Re: Callie
Yes, I completely agree that Mechelle thinks she is the smartest and best there is. But I would like to expand that to the whole family. This family really thinks they have arrived at something that the rest of us just can't grasp. It is being reinforced time and again with politicians using them as puppets, and organizations giving them handouts. The kids are learning that all they have to do is have more kids and the gravy train continues. Sickening.

Callie said...

Michelle is NOT fooling those of us who communicate at this blog. Glad you addressed the point of "blanket training". Yes it's despicable" & probably a teaching of Gothard. With the many people who've helped Michelle when she was cranking out the babies every 9 months, she elevated herself as special & entitled. I am surprised that each day, Michelle doesn't wear a Crown to signify the self imposed Queen she herself believes to be true. Hiwever we know the truth.

I'm tired of hearing "with 19 kids around" during talking heads. "With 19 kids in the house" "things get broken/we're late/there's always a crisis."

There aren't 19 kids around. There have never been. The oldest left home before the youngest was born. Two more have left home. Not to mention that many of the offspring are actually adults, not kids.

Hi

Just saw another preview of Poor Josie. One of the girls said Josie had been perfectly healthy up until then. One of boys said James walked in and said Hi Josie. He yelled Josie having a seizure. How does he know what a seizure is

Hi

While googling how old Michael Dugger is (since he was clicking himself into his own car seat on this week's episode)I found this info: Jim Bob, Michelle, Josh and Anna are listed on IDMb (internet movie database)as "actors and actresses" with an additional listing as "camera department" (???) for JB.
I didn't check for all of the family--some of the girls are just listed without the designation actress.

While watching 16 kids and moving in, the decorator, Debra gave them the furniture and grand piano as a surprise, turns out she had her own TLC program called, In a fix, so we know exactly where it all came from. I dont think they paid for anything in that house!

Buttercup said...

Mary, Jim Bob is the only one that is ever seen holding the bible during bible time. I think the dad or head of the household is the only one that has a bible during bible time. Now the kids may have bibles of their own for reading at other times during the day. But in all the year it's been shown only Jim Bob is reading & holding a bible. It's the same with Gil Bates he's the one holding the bible & reading it to the kids then discussing what he has have read.

simba said...

In the episode where Derrick and Jill just happen to 'show up' but apologize for being late to bible time, all of them had their bibles. I think there may have been a few posts on how fake it all looked, that was also the episode where Jill said she stole a pregnancy test out of the bathroom.

The Bates girls wear their hair long. And, in the episodes featuring the Big Sandy "homeschool conferences" all the girls have long hair. And, watch the episode where Jana is at the retreat in the UP of Michigan, and all the little girls there have long hair. And, if you read up on the Gothard accusers, it was all about long hair with the Rev. Doctor Gothard, too. But, the Duggar girls claim they have long hair because their Daddy likes it like that. Another lie. They have to. It is a cult practice.

RE: simba's comment on all the kids having their bible on the episode where Jill & Derick came in.Most of the time the bible time is in the boys room & at least the girls get up & go to their room with no bibles in sight. Other times Jim Bob will do bible time at the dining room table with just him at the head of the table & he'll ask the kids different questions on what he has jut read to them. It's usually when Michelle is out & I think he uses that time to keep the kids quiet at the table. Half the time he can't even read the verses as they are written in the bible. It's been awhile since we've seen this particular "bible time," as I guess they have been too busy with weddings etc.

The episode where the girls and Michelle get their nails done and Michelle says she is all about bling and sparkle?, that is one of the biggest lies there is!

Erin said...

Making it appear that Jill went to the hospital after her water broke when we all know she and Derick Dillard went for a couples pedicure....and she went to the chiropractor. This was reported by People magazine but when folks though she was irresponsible the timeline got changed. So much deception

auntliddy said...

Agree with alot of these postings. Just because they have alot of children and are pretty nice, why does everyone feel like they have to give them things? Its their choice to hv that many kids, so why do people hv to babysit for them, volunteer manpower to build them stuff, donate goods or services to them? And they greedily accept it all, never once do they say go help someone else, we've a small army here to take care of things. Ugh.

A huge lie...Jim Bob claims the side hug began with Ben and Jessa. I've seen the side hug from the beginning.

I also think that Josh now lies about his original plans to propose to Anna. This after the elaborate and really over the top proposals by Derick and Ben. Who wants to be on camera when you propose? Josh's proposal was actually more realistic though pretty lame...balloons?

Heart in Florida said...

So much "unreality" in this reality show...How could Michelle and Jim Bob have stated that they were praying about adoption when they had THIS in their closet of sins? They knew certainly well, with a sexual molestation police report on the books in their own home, that they were certainly NEVER going to be considered in the first place, not even mentioning their religious opinion about the souls of adopted children carrying the sins of their parents....which they conveniently side step with their silence about that. Praying about adopting??? My foot...
