After recently watching 2 weddings, and already having seen reruns of Josh and Anna's wedding AND have to rehash Jim Bob and Michelle's 25th anniversary wedding, why do we have to do it all over again? It's old news and quite annoying to run these again. Many couples have a 25th anniversary, and do just fine, they aren't the only ones to have reached 25,30 years together...give us something new, like maybe an explanation of what happened to Jill and the delivery..that's relevant stuff.

I think I will take this Tuesday night at 9pm and put away my winter clothes and bring out some spring clothes and pass on this episode....I don't think I can manage a third or fourth rehash of the weddings of Josh and Anna, Jill and Derick and Jessa and Ben...and don't forget Mama and Daddy (aka Michelle and Jim Bob).

I'll spend that hour of my life doing something productive!! LOL!!

To include a "special announcement"? Another baby, another courtship? Really, who cares? When they cure cancer or create world peace let me know. Otherwise they are merely famous for their large size and belief system. And just what does that mother do all day long?????

Rob said...

I know it may seem only to increase the nausea inducing reaction this family creates in lots of folks to revisit the previous weddings, but I feel it will be benficial to revisit scenes that lay the foundation of their radical conservative beliefs. As examples Jim Boob giving Josh a Christian book on how to have sex mere moments before the wedding. Hello, homeschooling can and should include aspects of marital intimacy before the wedding day. Second Anna's father stating there would be no alcohol at the wedding recption because Jesus Christ never drank wine or alcohol. Then going so far as to deny the miracle at Canaan where he did change water into wine and negating the fact that Christ was Jewish and drinking wine is very much a part of many of their rites and observances. Quite often seeing a repeat of a episode reminds me of certain actions and statements tht show how DISfunctional this clan is. So I am looking forward to being enraged at their misinterpretation of scripture and hearing the profound, pompous statements that belie their arrogance.

The special announcement will be tlc once again pretending the world doesn't already know Baby Izzy is here and have Derjill present him on camera. Thinking more positively maybe JD finally went out on a date and his parents are so relieved that they want to shout it from the rooftops.

Erin said...

Oh, for crying out loud!

I guess TLC was so excited at the numbers of those watching the first time they think they will get a repeat. And of course having some lame announcement will have some glued to the tv.

Wonder what ol Jim Bob thinks about Nene Leakes who is the highest paid reality star on tv, according to Parade magazine April 12, 2015.

coleen said...

The big announcement is either Jessa's pregnant or Joseph is courtin' a Bates girl.

mindy said...

I think the announcement is no more than the stale news that Anna's pregnant, I mean expecting, again.

sandi said...

Kelly said no one other than Michaela is courting right now.She also said Joe and Carlin are friends and attend the same college, and that's all.

Judy said...

I hate these rehashed episodes. They are so much cheaper for TLC to produce but they never offer anything new.

Mindi said...

I cannot believe that TLC is sinking so low as to rehash all the weddings including Jim Bob Michelle. It seems like that are scraping the bottom of the barrel for what Jim Bob sates is the most popular reality show on TV. By the way why did he refer to it as a :SHOW?

Beth said...

Depending on the timing of when these posts are posted, you may or may not have already noticed that there is a separate post thread on the 'special announcement' which was released in a People Mag article this morning, Josiah is officially courting, see separate post for details & link to article, I'm glad it's at least truly 'new' news and not another rehashing like this episode is!

I will definitely not be watching this rerun of the weddings. The girls' weddings were just over. Does anybody want to see it again so soon?

I think this is just another chance for jimboob and Meeshell to grab the spotlight once again. It is tiresome watching those two act like teenagers. Even at their daughters' weddings, they had to be front row centre with Meechelle's dress and their showing the couple how to kiss, etc. Of course, the visit to the store to fit Meechelle's pregnant body into one of the dresses will be revisited. Why don't those two just look after their children like real parents and shop grabbing attention every chance they get.

As for Josiah and his courtship. I say good luck to him. He probably wants to get away from that house and his father. I do think they are too young, but that is my reality. I hope that young girl is kind to him. He seems to be a sensitive young man and, I feel he may be a "fish out of water" in that 'Alpha-Male" oriented group.

Erin said...

Re: Michelle and Jim Bob acting like teenagers and trying to grab the spotlight. Children learn what they live so we know now why Jill and Josh do the things they do. They are emulating mommy and daddy.

When I see Jim Bob kiss Michelle I think of how she took Jim in for testing on his birthday because of that (nasty bacteria filled sinus infection*) smell when he kissed her.

*my words, as I perceived what she was saying when she mentioned using mints.

Bobbi said...

Jim Bob is disgusting in every way. He exudes a more than Needy Give Me All The Attention personality. He's an uneducated Bafoon who tells & laughs at his own jokes. When on screen, the manner in which he refers to the physical (sex) of marriage is somewhat off color. The guy has no Filter & to me does not emulate one who's a "Christisn'. However, JB thoroughly enjoys the sickening rules M & he have established. Had JB lived during WW2, he would have made an obedient nazi. Although JB prides himself regarding the businesses he owns (if he really does), he's just not an intelligent or logical person. Jim Bob is all about controlling the lives if his children within the Duggar home & after his daughters marry. The reason JB believes he needs to control is because he's insecure & has zero self control as he deminstrats each week the 19 Kids program aires. I do not pity JB. I just hope one day TLC will remove JB & M & focus on the lives of the 19 Kids.

MaryKay said...

The Duggars are so pious about shunning things of the world (part of their Gothard/IBLP training). Yet, they seem to have a steady relationship with PEOPLE magazine. This magazine puts them on the cover on a regular basis but also glorifies Hollywood types, Kardashians, and many more of those that the Duggars would never consider role models. Is this a double standard? Selling out to the almighty dollar via PEOPLE magazine covers?

simba said...

They should just stop with the special announcement bs, they sell out to the highest bidder before the show airs. We now know Jill had a C-section, Josiah is courting, nothing new, unless Michelle had in vitro and is going to announce she is pregnant!

Stella said...

Another announcement next week-- just a theory but if the episode is about Ben and Jessa's honeymoon ... Could it be an announcement of a baby on board?!

Rob said...

The "ritual" of trashing out the bride and groom's car is really disrespectful to them and can be dangerous so I'm glad Jill and Jessa didn't have to suffer those antics on their wedding days.

Stella said...

Anyone else worry about Jennifer and her none communication. It has been noted a couple of time this season she is very quiet.

I understand about playing dress up--- yet dress up as a bride?!?! ...

Annabelle said...

Erin, they actually admitted that Jim Bob had "bad breath," on the episode you mentioned. I remember it well. Jim Bob was so brave having all those needles for the scratch test. Good thing his daughters didn't complain & act like babies when he dragged them to give blood for Josie when she was born. Of course that was another one of those: "girls I tell you what, we're gonna do something that will be one of the funnest (his word not mine) days of your lives

Bobbi said...

Rob, yes it's disrespectful & infantile behavior to trash the car of the bride & groom. John David Duggar always seems to be the one initiating this process. At age 25, John David needs to grow up. However living on the Duggar compound & with parents JB & M his level of maturity is that of a 16 year old or perhaps just stagnet? Anyway, John David should find a hobby or move from the Duggar compound.

Bobbi said...

MaryKay, YES the Duggars selling out to People magazine Sreams double standard and contradicts everything for which the Duggars supposedly stand for.. Example the Duggars "so called" ministry. Or the ministry that isn't. Excluding the Duggar kids, Jim Bob & Michelle have become fodder for TLC. they have lost all credibility if they had any initially.

^^^
Didn't hear about another announcement next week, but since to them, the only annoucements worth announcing have to do with preparing for future sex (courting), getting close to future sex (engagement), having sex (marriage), or showing off the products of sex (babies), it's likely that Jessa is now pregnant and the honeymoon show is a good time to announce.

Other than that the only thing I can see them seeing as announcement worthy is Josh running for office officially. I could see it being that as well. Doubt it's anyone else courting on the heels of Josiah.

Miindi said...

Stella, I agree with you about Jennifer. I've always thought there was more to it than just being shy. She doesn't answer when asked a direct question. For a long time I was concerned about Jordyn, but she seems to be pushing her way through just as Hannie always did. Somebody needs to get those young kids tested. If they are just shy so be it. They will probably change as they get older, but Jenny seems to be regressing. Wish someone would pass that information on to Michelle or who ever is really in charge of her.

I attempted to watch this show..fell asleep on the first try. Went to on demand and zipped thru it...SAME OLD SAME OLD we have seen it all.....TLC WAKE UP...THIS WAS BEYOND BORING! Now it will be the never ending episodes of giving birth after birth after birth and more lame same ole same ole courtships. Only courtship i want to see is for JANA to have one (a good one hopefully). Other than that all these live births and announcements of ...Oooh im expecting is boring *its happens all the time to us regular folks..u would think the duggars created birth.

70'schild said...

Puddin, don't you know the Duggars do believe they did create birth. It's almost as if the Duggars believe birth happens by immaculate conception. I couldn't watch Duggars say I do. Instead finished & mailed my taxes it was more interesting.

70'schild said...

At age 25, Jana should DATE & NOT COURT. Jana Doesn't need a Chaperone. Courting the manner in which the Duggars do it is well just STUPID as are the archaic rules. If Jim Bob & Michelle were to begin the process of forward thinking I believe their show would be cancelled.

70'schild said...

The Duggars believe they put the fun into dysfunctional.

Helen Crump said...

The people we are rooting for to have a real relationship and get out of there are Jana, Jinger and John David...nothing on the horizon for these three, just not normal. I think they provide a service to JB and Michelle and aren't expendable at this point in time..

Carol said...

Did Michelle's family show up for any of these weddings? We haven't seen them in ten years. I think there's a story there.

nightmomma said...

I just watched this and a few things...
1. I adore the girl Josiah is in a courtship with! She seems down to earth, well educated, very lively. I love her! (way outside the "duggar norm" but I think she will be really good for him.

2. Joy Anna is very well spoken compared to the other family members. I wish she hadn't had the tomboy spirit broken but she is by far my favorite.

3. It was really gross when one of the younger girls said "they will be locked at the lips." That just blows my mind that a young girl (I think it was JoHanna...) would say something like that.

4. Josh has a better singing voice now than he did at the wedding. I cringed when I heard him sing at the wedding but he did so much better during the show.

5. Jessa leans her head to far to one side when she goes in for the kiss. Plus she and Ben don't seem to kiss they just lay lips together. Josh and Anna look cute together. And Jill and Derick...I don't know.

All in all it was not as bad as I expected but Serria needs to lay off the TV exposure. But please in the name of all that is holy, take these people off the TV. Millions of people have given birth, gotten engaged/married, and built a house. They are not the first and will not be the last...there is nothing new here...move on TLC.

70'schild said...

The thing is if one doesn't agree or accept the Gothardlike way within the Duggar compound & that includes Michelle's siblings or cousins, then these people are shunned. I am surprised Jim Bob hasn't shunned his only sibling Deanna or niece Amy as their lifestyles are completely the opposite of the Duggars.

YAWN. Beyond boring.

Helen Crump said...

Yes, once again, were the Ruarks invited to the wedding properly and did they attend? They seem to be "persona non grata" with Michelle and her woooonderfulll husband, Jim Bob. I'd like to know what really is up with that side of the family and with Jim Bob's relatives other than Mary and Deanna....are they close to ANY of them?

pretty girl said...

i like josh and anna wedding the best. I even liked the fact that he sang to anna.

re: KK's take on the Duggar announcements..preparing for future sex (courting), getting close to future sex (engagement), having sex (marriage) or showing off the product of sex (babies)

That is too funny. What about old Jim Bob showing off what he used to do by dry humping at mini-golf? Nasty ol perv!

And when someone has to tell me over and over how incredibly happy they are..... or show so much PDA I think they are "protesting too much".

Erin said...

Re: Nightmomma saying got TLC to remove them .....agree. However, we always say if you don't like something then bring us an alternative.

I'd much rather see a show where they show how to train a dog to behave....like they taught parents
how to be good parents on Super Nanny.

Wait, why not bring Super Nanny on to teach Jb and Michelle how to parent?

Rob said...

I'm on board with Helen Crump and Carol. Why haven't we seen any interaction with the relatives on the Ruark side of the family tree? I'd hate to think they were part of the volunteers who did all the actual work. Seriously there are Aunts, Uncles and cousins there you would think would be just as welcome if not more so than other "friends" from "all across the country". Unless they are actively saying the do not wish to appear on camera it's really the height of rudeness to place Deanna and Cousin Amy high on the list of camera worthy appearances over them. (even though D and Amy weren't featured so much in the weddings it's over the course of all the seasons I'm referencing here)

Helen Crump said...

Re: the locking lips comment from one of the little girls...they are waaay too aware of the sexual side of relationships for their ages and their trumpeting modesty...those girls shouldn't be focusing on such things at that young age..they see their parents' sex lives all the time, without actually witnessing the "deed"...it's so hypocritical and IMmodest of the parents.

GJJ's mom said...

Boring show. I usually watch via DVR. So glad I do bc I was able to FFWD thru most of it.

Stella said...

For some reason Jill's comments about her mother-in-law didn't sit well. She was just a matter a fact of about things-- really no emotion or compassion to her illness.... I don't know.

Heart in Florida said...

I agree that Jill's comments about Cathy's illness are removed and seemingly uncaring and not compassionate..I wonder if the Duggars underneath it all blame Cathy's illness due to the fact that she was adopted and that she is tied to the "sins of her biological parents"? I'm sure that is NOT true at all, and we don't know the facts surrounding her birth and adoption..perhaps she was orphaned by married parents...not all adoptions are due to "sin". I still don't believe their adoption spiel..it has been engrained in their doctrine since the beginning...they are appeasing the public in hopes of keeping their TV show going.
Jill did seem short tempered for her "keeping sweet" persona with Derick and I suspect they don't mesh as well as they expected once they started living together and actually being alone one on one with each other...A flaw in their "courtship procedures" I would imagine...

Stella said...

If I heard my husband was not caring or understanding of my family situation , I would not be happy. Just don't know how Derick can reconcile Jill's cold response to his own mother.

When did that information come out about Ms. Cathy... Can't even imagine my private life being exposed in that way. Just seems toxic :(

sandi said...

Yes,Jill's comment was rude. They didn't know if they would be planning a wedding and a funeral at the same time?! She could have just said 'we didn't know if Ms Cathy would be able to make it or not',and leave it at that.

lynn said...

Michelle was actually working in the kitchen during the little girls dress up segment, you can see her in the background

Helen Crump said...

lynn, I'm sure Michelle wasn't "working" in the kitchen, perhaps she was trying to scramble herself an egg again..that's all I have seen her do in there...she can't play with her own little girls, Sierra had to volunteer to do it....doesn't she have 5 kids of her own at home to tend to? A wedding planner doesn't do those things, they are too busy doing their job that they are PAID to do..and do it right, I might ad....

Erin said...

Was Sierra paid to be a wedding planner? I thought she volunteered as many of their "good friends" do in order to get national exposure to launch their own "careers".

Erin said...

Many people thought the way Jill said that was shocking. Poor Derick. I know that hurt. She just wasn't brought up right. She thinks everyone wants to hear her every thought.

Mindi said...

RE Helen Crumb's comment about the little girls comment about "locking lips." All those little ones know is what they hear in their home. They obviously have never had an explanation such as Jill or Jessa will now have a home of their own, they won't live here with us, we will have another "brother" in the family after they marry. All JimBob & Michelle can talk about is; "no kissing until the wedding." The couple then parrot back; "we won't kiss until we're married." The little ones probably heard another sibling refer to:locking lips." All those kids know is what they learn in that house. That's just one example of what they have learned. I've never know a little one to use an expression such as, "locking lips." Perhaps teens might, but those girls are really little for something like that to come out of their mouths. I think it's a brief glimpse of what they have learned at SOTDRT.
