Well the Duggar girls bedroom definitely needs a renovation. I hope a partition or divider is built so Jana, Jinger & Joy Anna will have their own side of that room. Older girls need some privacy. The four younger girls will be just fine in their own section of that bedroom.

Buckeye said...

Please tell me the Duggars are not going to pretend to have a whiff of a clue about interior design, because I recall the absolutely HOVEL Jim Bob provided for his fam before the TLC $$$ began to roll in, and inside Michelle had pictures of her babies hung on the wall WITH A CHEAP UGLY CLOTH RUFFLE hung, halo-like, around the cluster of baby photos. Tres Tacky.

hello said...

Will they suddenly have friends that are interior decorators or will one of the kids paint a wall and be labeled a professional interior decorator?
It would be nice if Jana, Jessa and Joyanna got their own room and didn't have to share with the younger girls, but then Michelle might have to parent her own kids at nighttime and in the morning. . That will never happen as Michelle is much too busy fellowshipping with her wonderful husband at night.

Susie said...

That is one dorm room that really needs to be redesigned not just redecorated. A minimum of two perhaps three bedrooms for the women and girls would be appropriate. The younger ones should be able to care for themselves by now. The youngest is almost 6.

Ugh! Looks like this is going to be the episode with Josie's seizure! Forget redoing bedrooms! This was a possibly life-threatening event, and from what I can see, it appears that it was handled horribly! Cameras in the poor child's face, Jana having to handle everything (And about to absolutely lose it in the process!), and not a parent in sight! These people blow my mind!

Well, if it were up to me, I would paint the walls a nice cream color, put down a nice area rug, maybe get some new curtains, and move Jana and Jinger's beds to an apartment in downtown Fayetteville.

i just don't understand it. Why don't these older girls have their own room and their own lives. do they not have any friends, they just hang out at home with each other. why would a 25 year old want to stay in a room with a 15 and a 5 year old. do any of them get the money directly from the show? they must be so surpressed they do not know what to do. someone please help me out here. Do anyone of these girls or boys have faith or their own read the bible and pray on their own? If they did they would know it is not a sin to go to the outside world and be on your own?

The only place those older girls (except Jana she remain at home to take care of Jimboob, Mullet, and kids) the other girls will be shipped off to Jilly and Jessa bessa to raise they kids while they make more babies.

Leslie, do you recall the episode when Josie was about age 3 or 4 & she was seeking attention from Michelle? Michele replied "Josie the world doesn't revolve around you". The look on poor Josie's face. I just wanted to scoop up that child remove her from the compound, give a hug to her & love this child. So during the seizure while Jana was attending Josie befiore paramedics arrived, I was wondering if Michelle was thinking "Josie the world doesn't revolve around you" because as cold as Michelle is, it wouldn't surprise me. Michelle is a "B---h".

lancastergal said...

The episode where Michelle took Josie to task and said about the world not revolving around Miss Josie, was maybe the only time that Michelle corrected her unruly brood on camera.
Josie is the baby of the family and because of her premature birth, I think that Michelle is very attached to Josie....it was about time that Josie was corrected (my own opinion is that Josie has been coddled more than the other little girls).
I remember that I was told many times as a child that the world didn't revolve around me.

I hope they don't air much of Josie's medical event on the show :( so sad. Some things need to remain private. Callie, I have not seen the episode where Michelle said that to Josie (but I am only able to view episodes on Youtube). That is sad. Michelle tends to take that attitude with Jennifer and Jordyn as well- I have hardly ever seen her interact with those two. I watched the episode about Jubilee last night. Very sad to watch them go through that, but I thought to myself that if Jubilee had not passed away, then Josie would be tossed on to a buddy once Jubilee had been born. So in a way, as horrible as it was to lose Jubilee, it may have benefited Josie to get more attention especially since she will most likely have life long medical issues due to being 15 weeks premature. I cried when I saw Michelle take Josie back to the hospital to say thank you to the doctors and nurses. It truly is a miracle that Josie is alive. If she has a seizure disorder, though, they need to take that seriously. She may need to be on medications and those can have life long effects. (I had to take an anti-seizure medication for several years and had to be weaned off of it before I could have children due to the risk of birth defects). I hope Jim Bob and Michelle will pay attention to what medical professionals have to say.
In regards to the older girls, most likely Joy will be helping Jill a lot due to Joy being part of Jill's buddy group. Also, Joy was the one to help Anna a lot when they still lived in Arkansas. My guess is that Jinger will be helping Jessa out with childcare until Jinger herself finds a potential beau.

Close Call said...

I'm not too sure there will be much real emotion shown from Michelle re:Josie's seizure. She sure never showed any real motherly emotion or concern when her son (don't remember which one) fell off the stage & was hurt. All Michelle did was start filming, as he was taken to an ambulance & claim it was the older kids who took their cameras out & filmed. "Our older children all have cameras so it was just natural for them to start filming," as she herself had her camera out & was filming & even worse...then the next day the poor kid was dragged to the church to hear the "family concert," & JimBob & Michelle's testimony, which I'm sure he had heard many times before. He looked awful & in some serious pain with a broken jaw sitting in a wheelchair. He should have been allowed to stay at the home they were visiting & rest on a couch or bed instead of sitting up in a wheelchair for a church service. But he had to be there to add to the count of the Duggar family. So don't expect too much sincere emotion from Michelle with regard to Josie's seizure. She certainly didn't show much the time they were in South America & Josie had the seizure. She acted like Josie was just fine, of course that was when she & Jim Bob finally returned & saw her at the hospital. Josie was, "just laughing & playing, she was really fine." She actually insinuated that maybe Jana over reacted by calling an ambulance & having her admitted to the hospital. Josie was still a baby & had the tape for oxygen cannula on her face as she still needed to use it. But hey let's go help the kids in South America that need us!

Jill L said...

Funny, I'm watching that episode when Josie gets "trained" right now. Wonder where Michelle was during the seizure? Last time 911 was called Jana was on duty than time as well. I just saw a video of her singing, so I'm glad that she's fine. So scary!

Always said...

The time Michelle told Josie that the world didn't revolve around her, was the first & only time most of us had ever seen her even make an attempt at disciplining her in any way. Many people thought it was a reaction to all the criticism that Michele was receiving via the internet etc.for only paying attention to Josie. Michelle was never seen paying attention to any of the little ones except for Josie, due to her fragile condition at birth. She had always ignored, Hannie,Jenny & Jordyn. I agree that if Jubilee had survived, Josie would have been shipped off to a buddy a lot sooner than she was.

It sure sounds as if the episodes tonight, as they're described by my cable provider, will be pre-emptied by Josie's seizure. Do these people have ANY shame?? Hey JimBoob & MOTYnot: Using your youngest child's health scare, which traumatized your oldest daughter—instead of you—is exploitative, and completely insensitive to both daughters! What would happen if Jana, by true miracle, awoke tomorrow with a backbone and desire for a family of her own? MOTYnot would have to actually (brace yourselves!) RAISE her OWN children! (Gasp!) Speaking of parenting, JMO it'd be nice to see these people feeding their children healthy foods. They're not being supplemented by a healthy school lunch so what they see is all they get (example: the over-exposed tatetot casserole). Secondly, it would be nice to see such a large family stop making so much trash with paper plates.

Wow, right on cue enters an old friend of Michelle's complete with massive cheek fillers who just happens to be an interior decorator - imagine that. Huge house like that and adult daughters are crammed into one room, I don't understand it at all. And I'm tired of seeing pregnant Duggars; and how many times did someone say "pregnancy" or a variation thereof. *scream*

Tonight's episodes were awful! They made such a big deal about Josie, they spent 4-5 minutes total and jimbob and Michelle didn't even fly back. They said they couldn't, they could have, just get on a plane!! Im also tired of the pregnancies, who cares anymore. Best line of the night, there is a pig out there, missing his feet...

My God that Cindi is a wonder. When we fist met her on the show, she was there to care of micro preemie Josie, who had just been released from the hospital. Michelle had a speaking engagement with Jim Bob & the rest of the family in another state & Cindi came to care for Josie because she was a NICU Nurse & Michelle was completely comfortable with her. Then in the episode where Michelle was going to he 30th reunion, Cindi showed up identified as a "personal trainer". Now she's moved on to "interior decorating." No wonder the Duggars are able to get so many things done for free, these fiends are multi-talented & of course they are professionals in their field. I purposely didn't mention Cindi's contribution to Michelle's birthday makeover as she was only doing that as in the capacity a friend. Boy the one thing I like about her is that she's the only person I've ever seen that can really take on Jim Bob. Michelle trying to convince everyone that they are only kidding each other. Jim Bob had no business being involved in the redo of the girls room. My husband will paint or move furniture but he stays out of the decorating. Yes it should have been divided between the little girls & the older girls. Michelle should have stood up for that.

TK said...

Charming how they matched the music to the activity.... light and bouncy until the last commercial. When Josie had her seizure the music turned ominous. And Michelle took the whole thing quite cheerfully. What a space cadet.

Susie said...

They abandoned "buy used and save the difference" a long time ago. The furniture and baby stuff was of a high quality.

I wish they would trash those headboards with their names on them. Hardly suitable for adult women. Why was Jim Bob helping? He needs to stay out of the female dorm room.

Jim Bob and Michelle were in Chicago worshipping Bill Gothard when Josie had another seizure. Poor kid. Poor Jana.

Callie said...

Coleen, re the girls room renovation, I was hoping the older girls & younger girls would have their own rooms. Re the horse & Jennifer, I thought it was mean the older girls wouldn't permit the horse to remain. There's just no respect or common sense in that Duggar home.

Springtime said...

Tiara that's the same type of store that they went to when Michelle was pregnant with Jordyn so I don't know why she's talking about never seeing these types of items when she was pregnant. They went to a very high class boutique for Jordyn's clothes, & for items for the crib. They took the entire family as, if the older boys like John David wanted to shop there. The entire time they were there all Jim Bob did was complain about how tired he gets when shopping. He finally sat down in one of those beautiful rockers. Jackson & some of the little ones went to a play area. While there he found a music box that he turned on & started dancing to the music. The camera man told Jana that Jackson was dancing & she said, "oh no sometimes the little kids do what they call "jumping for joy," & that's what he was probably doing." but she turned the music box on & asked him to show her what he was doing & then she did take it away from him. Then Jim Bob gave a lecture to nobody but himself on the evils of dancing.

Springtime said...

Everybody remember when Josie was just home from the hospital & Michelle had an important speaking engagement in another state with Jim Bob & the rest of the family. Fortunately, Cindi at that time was a NICU nures who came to stay with Josie while Michelle was away. Michelle was so pleased that her friend was an experienced NICU nurse so she could leave Josie with no worries. Then when Michelle's 30th High School reunion came up Cindi was there to help Michelle work out as she was a professional, "Personal Trainer." Now she an interior decorator. Duggar's certainly are fortunate to have so many skilled professional friends.

Yes, Springtime. Dancing is evil.

And David danced before the Lord with all his might 2 Samuel 6:14

Praise Him with the tambourine and the dance,

Wonder how they justify that dancing is wrong.

Willow said...

Yes, I was "barfing" (sorry) over Jim Bob being involved in the re-do of the girls' room. I just can't stand it. All those adult women can make do just fine without him and his opinions. Its gross. The girls could have separated the room just a little bit and made each side a little more age appropriate. I also think Jana, Jinger etc have the brains and opinions to decorate their own room without Cindy and Jim Bob's help. What is up with that?

Its disgusting that JB won't let them have at least 1 separate room. I just want to slap him so bad. Meanwhile, I guess Cindy needed more air time ($$) ?? Is that it? Next to Cindy, Mullet comes off about as dumb as a tree - a giggling, baby-talking, tree.

Autumn Leaves said...

Springtime, I recall that episode. Jim Bob & dancing is just too laughable. There is nothing wrong with dancing! In the Bible David danced before The Lord. However from the Bible, the pseudo Gothard org takes contents from scripture to suit their purpose. Often well most of the time, Gothard & his followers mis interpret the meaning of scripture especially & specific too the manner in which women should live life. "Be fruitful & Multiply" encompasses a plethora of definitions. Hey Jim Dull its not about continual pregnancies. However, Jim Dull will never understand or grasp that concept. His brain capacity is limited & daily he bathes in the bath water of the pseudo Gothard org.

Autumn Leaves said...

Susie, re renovation of the girls bedroom.. Jim Bob is incapable of sticking his nose into every aspect of his daughters lives. The guy desperately needs camera time & I am sure he insists on it. I think Jim Bob, Josh & Jill are bullies! I just am really entertained when these three rattle on about subjects of which they are clueless. Then there is the lack of correct pronounciatiion of words (grammar) & vocabulary. The Duggar family is the epitome of HICKS!

KatieP said...

I wish Jill would trash those headbands. Jill has to work at being attractive. The headbands & also her LACK of dress/style are definitely NOT working for her.

Willow love your name. Michelle a giggling baby talking tree comment is priceless. Michelle looks like an unmade bed. That hair makes her appear shorter & older. Not working for her. It also appears as if the hair is uncomfortable & heavy. Not cool!

Callie said...

Pam, as previously written & in his best uneducated hickish drawl, often Jim Bob has said "we don't do those things in Arkansas". Re Dance; was Narcissustic Jim Bob speaking on the entire population of Arksnsas? My guess is probably as Jim Bob believes he's a Saint & the King of Arkansas. All self imposed titles of a guy who truly has both oars out of the water & poor judgment.

Leslie said...

Yup...I thought Jim Bob's interest in the girls' room was just creepy! "Oh, he loves that room! It's his favorite place in the house!" Never heard of any decent father feeling quite that way about a daughter's bedroom! *SHUDDERS* Just wrong on so many levels!

And the seizure mess! I agree with Kristiana that that was just exploiting both Jana and Josie! Jana (Who shouldn't have had to handle that in the first place...) was clearly absolutely terrified and about to lose it, and to show a child in the state that Josie was in and just keep the cameras rolling is just wrong! I might have been able to come to some understanding of it if they'd used it as a bit of a teaching moment about seizure disorders, what to watch for, how to care for someone having a seizure, etc. But nope! They pretty much just minimized the whole thing! "Oh, she seized and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, but we brought her home and everything's great now!" Puh-lease! And don't even get me started on the fact that the parents couldn't be bothered to come home immediately! If that were me, you'd better believe I'd be on the first think smokin' back home, no matter what!

Wheez said...

I was curious as to the location of the bedrooms in relation to ea other (are girls/ boys across the hall? Parents downstairs? I never did figure that out) but anyway my point is, I googled the house plans and there are several bedrooms in that house. Nuts to have kids crammed together like that. Wish some of them would claim spare rooms as their own but guess those rooms are claimed as "school" rooms, etc? Hated to see the painted horse gone. Yes the older girls have outgrown that, but the little girls haven't. They could so easily divide the room.

MCL said...

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at the meeting in Chicago. Bet they were brainstorming on new ways to get more pretty girls with long wavy hair and cute feet to join the cult. Shame on JB and Mechelle! I would have been on the first flight out of there. Free Jana!

The Duggars were in Chicago for a speaking engagement with Huckabee for home schooling. It wasn't some Gothard gathering.

Leigh Ann said...

The should have kept the horse. The little girls had no say in what was done to the room. This is what happens when you have kids with a 20-year age difference sharing a room. If it were seven girls under 10 they could probably a agree a little better. This set-up just isn't fair for anyone of them. The little girls' get no consideration when it comes to decorating and the big girls get no privacy. They really should have done a little girls' side and a big girls' side and put a partition -- if not a wall, at least a couple of those fancy decorative screens -- right down the middle. I like the horse, too!

I love Anna's midwife. I can't believe she's waited this long into her pregnancy to have a first appointment but she sure looks to be in good hands. Do we know if she's planning a home birth or a birthing center? I'm guessing she's not going for a hospital birth. However, this midwife would certainly get her to the hospital in time if it's necessary. This could be Anna's best birth experience yet.

I just watched the episode that included Josie's seizure. I am appalled that TLC thought it appropriate to film that event, and Jim Bob and Michelle allowed it to be aired. The circumstances surrounding the filming were strange: according to Jim Bob, the director of "19 Kids and Counting" was nearby filming some of the other kids, but somehow a cameraman happens to be on site when Josie has a seizure? Who films a 5-year-old in such a medically precarious situation? Josie isn't old enough to consent to having millions of viewers see her half-naked and unconscious, so the adults in her life should have put down their foot and forbid filming. This was all just so wrong!

Leslie said...

Mary, I was actually trying to count beds myself as they were showing the room. It wasn't easy the way the cameras keot moving, but I never saw more than four or five. Ridiculous for those poor girls to be sharing beds! And I saw they still had the "Jessa" headboard, too. I agree with whoever said it's time for those to go!

Melissa R said...

I really wish someone would tell Josh & Anna that it's NOT OK to buckle your kid into a car seat while wearing a heavy coat. The coats are too bulky and allow for too much space between the child's body and the restraint harness. I guess each set of parents get to make their own decisions--so I guess someone should tell TLC so they stop showing those kids in coats while in their car seats.

I hope Derick got some better training than a weekend with Josh & Anna!

At one point with the bunks and a trundle, they had six beds in there. The bottom of the bunks was a double so suitable for two of the younger girls. I kept looking but they never panned the entire room at one time. Why would they want us to think they don't have enough beds?

hello said...

It was mentioned that the film crew was filming some of the kids a few miles away when Josie started having a seizure and they called them for help. Why would they do that when they already called 911 and had paramedics there? I have no doubt that Jimboob and Mullet tell the kids to call the camera crew if they are away and something happens to make sure it gets filmed. They have no problem having their kids filmed while they are sick, get hurt or are having medical procedures done. Mullet seems to get some kind of sick satisfaction when something happens to one of the kids. The older girls are more of a mother to their siblings than their bio mom. Jill and Jessa's buddies were probably devastated when they got married and moved out of the house. Jana has to pick up the slack and it is so unfair to her. I don't see Jimboob finding her an authority figure to marry anytime soon. Mullet certainly won't step up and take care of her own kids. She seems to think her only job is to be Jimboob's buddy and try for number twenty, even though that is not likely to happen.

I agree with Mellissa that Jennifer appears to be more ignored than Jordyn at this point in time. I believe that from the time Jordyn was 6 months old or a little older, she was ignored by Michelle at least from the time she stopped nursing Jordyn. Jordyn had to be pretty much on her own with some assistance from the sister moms. Jordyn had to learned to deal with raising herself, but Jenny is quiet & shy & I think he needs a lot more attention than she gets. The sister moms can only spread themselves so thin. So Jenny has fallen through the cracks. This is the first time we have seen Jenny stand up for herself when she wanted something. Jordyn has a personality more like Hannie had before Michelle was able to remove her spunk & turn her into a shell of her former self. She did the same thing with JoyAnna.

InVA said...

I also loved how self-centered Jill and Jessa returned and then complained that the renovation hadn't been done while they lived there. Meanwhile they have renovated HOUSES, which were GIVEN to them, FURNISHED!

I paused the high level shot of the room and it looked to me like there were 2 queen sized beds and then three full sized beds in that room.

Lots of bunking together, which made me think that not even Jana or Jinger gets to sleep alone, ever.

I feel sorry for all of the kids, the teen/adult girls who have NEVER had privacy (crucial during those years!) as well as the younger girls who have no say in what "their" room looks like! :-(

Removing spunk or pieces of a child's personality through religious guilt & fear to be is one of highest forms of abuse followed by neglect or ignoring of the child by the Mother. This Gothard way of life for women is just hateful.

Number 20 was Jubilee. Recently read posts from a neighbor down the road from the Duggars whose Mom is a nurse in the hospital where Michelle has delivered several children. This poster commented his Mom was once Michelle's nurse when Michelle gave birth & that because of so many births, Michelle's uterus has become paper thin. Perhaps this is why Junilee was miscarried?

I am watching the chicken pox episode, jill said that jimbob is doing a good job taking care of the little kids, even though it's NOT in the jurisdiction! So it is up to the girls, only to care for these kids. That is alot of work for those girls and Grandma, once again is doing ALL the laundry from the 'mission trip' She said she had just completed 30 loads, 20 more to go. Michelle just swoons over Josie and the attention and just doesn't care about anything else.

Melissa said...

InVA- I thought that was odd too that Jessa and Jill had to put their two cents in. I think it's totally fine that they came over to see how things looked, but then Jessa tried to start dictate where to put the mirrors and how to decorate, I even noticed Jinger and Jana giving each other a look like "Oh great, here we go..." It doesn't make sense to me why they totally decorated the room around the "big girls" desires when Jinger and Jana could potentially be getting married sooner rather than later and leaving anyway. I will give Jim Bob credit where it is due- at least he tried to save the horse painting for Jennifer, but he was outvoted :( I was surprised that Jana grabbed the brush and made him start painting over it faster. Why couldn't they have kept that corner of the room for the younger girls then redecorated the bigger girls' corner? TLC if you are reading this, repaint a horse for Jenni! Oh wait, MEchelle would just say "The world does not revolve around you Jenni!"

Susie said...

When Dim Bulb says "the girls like sharing a big room together" it is a lie. The little girls may like it but I know of no adult women that would like it. He is such a twit. If there are seven women/girls in that room----there should be seven separate beds.

The two episodes were taped together on you tube so not sure if I am posting this in the correct thread- but Kudos to Josh and Anna for finding a great mid-wife who is actually licensed and certified! I was so happy to see that she has her MSN and she was so awesome with Mac allowing her to help hear the heartbeat!
IMO, Josh used to be one of the most annoying characters, but he really has grown up quite a bit. I was impressed with him during this episode. He still makes crazy faces and raises his eyebrows (oddly enough Jill makes that same face which is too funny) when Anna is doing the talking during the interviews, but I would too listening to her ramble on and bug her eyes out. She is a good mom though so I digress.

Several thoughts on this episode: #1 While the yellow room would be too "young" for the older girls now, the new room is not appropriate at all for the younger ones. How sad! And I felt so sorry for Jennifer not being allowed to keep the horse. I wonder if that was "Miss Cindy" the decorator's decision?
#2 Weird about the lack of beds in the room.
#3 Josie's seizure: As did some other posters, I wondered about the "availability" of the director and crew filming the children at a nearby location--I wonder what adults were with them, and where they were, since most of the filming seems to take place at the Duggar home.
#4 Did it occur to anyone else that the filming of Josie's seizure might have been a re-enactment? Just the way everyone was acting/talking sounded scripted to me. (Watch it again and see what you think) And why was there another crew filming at the home? In his TH, James said, "Josie was like: 'She's having a seizure.'" making it sound like Josie was talking to him about herself (????) I know that Josie really did have a seizure, and that, thankfully, she recovered from it. I'm just not positive that what we saw is the moment it happened. So many reality shows redo/re-enact a scene to "get it right." (Gosselins were famous for doing this).
In any case, however it was done, how sad to allow filming of the episode to be aired on the program! Just wrong in so many ways.

Leslie said...

Cali-girl...I don't think the seizure was a reenactment. She was much too tense and rigid for it to be acting. Doubt there are many children her age that you could coach into doing it that well. I think Anna is going to get the birth she really wants this time around. With the focus on the mother owning the pregnancy, Anna's wishes will be honored. She clearly did not want a water bath with Marcus, she was terrified he was going to drown. And with Mackenzie and Michael I really think she felt pressure by the family to stay home. Josh is worried about not having family around this time but I think Ann will do better without the Duggar circus and feeling like she has to please them. And I get the idea that this midwife is going to do what mom wants and nothing else. Of course TLC will probably make sure the whole crew is there in time, anyway.

I didn't like them painting over the horse but on second thought, seeing the way Jana went after it with the paint, makes me think her mindset is "Just once, Something For ME! Just once, it's not all about little kids. "
I may be off base but if I had to raise my 18 siblings, that's how I would probably feel..

I really liked the look of the girls room, it made it look so much bigger. I guess the older girls lived with a younger girl room for so long they deserve a grown up room. The younger ones can grow into it.

It creeped me out to hear Jim Bob say the girls room was his favorite, ick.

I don't think Josie's seizure was a reenactment, Jana was truly terrified and worried about Josie and you could tell by Grandma's voice there was urgency. I wonder if by the time Jim Bob and Michelle found out about Josie she was already better and so they didn't see the need to come home.

Susie, dim wit Jim Bob. The guy really creeps me out. With all of his constant BS, I wonder how he sleeps at night? About Josie's seizure...It was stated by Jimboob that there was filming going on "several blocks away" not miles. Yes when the filming is being done they do have crew available 24/7. Now surprisingly I am only a little critical of the way things went down. Josie should have been on her side not flat on her back as that will cause any vomit to possiblt go into the lungs. Meeshell's cast away comment about it being another Febrile Seizure is what irks me the most I guess. Yes it does tend to become old hat when your kid has repetitive seizure incidents but lady you are now a national celebrity and you missed a key opportunity to educate the world on seizure disorders and you didn't. Jimboob in contrast made it seem as though Josie was nearly at death's door. Which is it you two? Get your act together. I concur on the opinion that TLC was called FIRST not 911 because as they were coming in you heard Grandma D relaying to Jana questions the dispatcher was asking. Because of what Meshell said and the lacksidasical attitude of a couple of the kids I think Josie does have seizures more often than we are being led to believe and it is now common for them to see. I'm not in agreement it was restaged seeing as how EMS, Fire AND Police were there and unless Jimboob bought them off it's really very rude to your fellow citizens to take away vital emergency services for a staged event.

The question I have is are they sure these are febrile seizures. That's what the doctors told us too for my daughter's seizures the first few times as well. I just don't want them to just assume that is the cause everytime.

I find it disgusting that J&M didn't fly home as soon as Josie was in hospital. They HAD a choice. Give me a break. A "meeting/speaking engagement" should come second to a child health em emergency, but hey as long as the sister moms are there its okay right?

Why is Josh panicking about not being near family this time around? That shows how codependant he really is. Good for Anna for being realistic about the hospital. Sounds like her midwife is actually qualified and will not hesitate to get her extra help if she needs it. I also get the feeling she won't take crap from family either.

The older girls have lived with a little girl room for a long time but that was their little girl room. They had a say in those They got the decorations they wanted then and now they're getting what they want now. Jenny, Jordyn and Josie weren't even born yet. They've yet to get their say. I guess in a few years when it's just down to the three of them they can do what they want then. That room is going to be huge with only three girls in it. But as I keep saying, this is another reason people with a 20-year age difference sharing a room just doesn't work.

I have been on that road where they live. It is marked off in miles, not blocks. I thought it was very odd to say that. Maybe they were up at the chicken house/commercial bldg which is at the front (and to the side) of their property). That might be considered blocks but having lived in both the country and the city I thought it was strange to use that word.

Seriously? You can hire the police dept? Do they take it for a vote and approve it? OR who has the legal authority to approve using local gov't property (that taxpayers paid for, plus the cop being paid by the taxpayers) to put money in the Duggrs pockets from the TLC check.

Apparently Josh didn't realize the benefit of living so close to a cosmopolitan area. They seem to have found a well educated midwife who also has some common sense, sadly lacking in their old area of the woods. Sorry to offend but it sure makes some of those AR midwives they had before, look like "hicks." That includes trained midwife "Jill." Really what's wrong with them, that they didn't think they could find a decent midwife because they were now in the DC area? Also looks like Anna waited a long time for her first meeting with the midwife. It was clear that they hadn't meet before.

My Way said...

Sorry Melissa, but I think Josh is more obnoxious than ever. He is an exact clone of Jim Bob but at an earlier age. Probably because of his big position, rubbing shoulders with all these politicians. Nice home, even if only a rental, flying around the country, the many big beautiful cars they have. Just wait till he announce his candidacy for some political office that will be coming soon.

Cali-girl, I honestly had that thought as well, that the whole scene might have been a re-enactment. But I guess how others have stated, Josie was too rigid and too young to have acted that out. But you are not the only one who had the thought that the scene was staged. I thought it was odd that Amy's Mom (can't remember her name), was the first one to run in there. What the heck was she around for?

Another thing about Josie seizure episode, when the camera man came in while grandma was on the phone with 911, there was already a cameraman filming her, doesn't make sense... Are they planning to do another episode from when it began? I dont know if it was staged, but it sure looked like it, either way, those camera's should have been turned off and jimbob and Michelle should have gotten on the first plane home.

Rob said...

I want to comment on Anna's midwife too. This woman is a HIGHLY educated person. MSN means Master of Science Nursing. which means she already has a four year college degree in nursing and chose to specialize in the birthing process which makes her a Nurse Practitioner level. There is no way Jill can assume to be on a par with this lady and I question if the other midwives who have served this family in the past have had the national certification this woman does. Anna is in very good hands this time.

Leigh Ann said...

I guess the camera man had to keep filming. I'm not sure why they called the director but when he came in it was clear he was more interested in helping Josie than directing a TV segment. He looked alarmed at what was going on. The thing is, when you're filming a reality show or you're a reporter covering something, you're supposed to be an observer recording, photographing or reporting what is happening. You aren't supposed to get involved. Although filming a reality TV show is a far cry from reporting on a natural disaster or war or something people need to know about. There would have been nothing wrong with saying "the heck with this, I'm helping out" and turning off the camera. Especially when Jana was freaking out. Michelle and Jim Bob really should have come back immediately. They wouldn't have gotten there before the crisis was over but it was clear Josie and Jana both needed their parents home. You could tell Jana was relieved they were back and all she got was that side hug from Jim Bob when they walked in the door. I hope they sat down with her later. That was a lot for a big sister to have to handle.

Last night TLC televised two hours of Duggars from 2004 and 2005 before Jackson and Johanna were born. I'd almost forgotten how awful the girls' hair and clothing were. And Michelle wore too much lipstick, it didn't suit her at all. Thankfully the girls have updated their hair and somewhat their clothes; now if Michelle would do the same, her hair is too wild and doesn't do anything for her.

Being Christian doesn't mean dressing like an oddball, you want to be modest but not stand out in the crowd and have people gawk at you. These womenfolk seriously need to update their look just like the menfolk have. The men do what they want, but the women are under the men's thumbs - well, JimBob's big thumb anyway.

Here's my take on the baby furniture. This is Jill and Derricks (Dillard, not Duggar) first child. As grown adults maybe they didn't want used! Everyone complains that they don't have minds of their own, but then also complain that kids arent doing it the Duggar way. Jill is grown and can do things the way she and Derrick want, not the way her dad wants! Now they have a crib to hand down to the next.

Make up your mind peeps as you can't have it both ways!

As a DC area resident, I can say that there aren't a large number of independent nurse midwives here. They tend to practice with physicians or at medical centers. A quick online search indicates a birthing center in DC and one in Alexandria, VA. The one in VA has a nice professional bio on Ms. Jackson, and I think that is who Anna saw. Ms. J is quite accomplished. Presumably, Anna will have a safer birth experience this time.

The home that Joshie and Anna rent in PG County would be a quick car trip across the Woodrow Wilson bridge. That seems to be where a lot of their outings get filmed. They also are filmed at Shoppers Food and Pharmacy whenever they grocery shop.

Regarding it being Anna's first meeting with the midwife, it didn't seem that late to me assuming that she's been seeing a family doctor. It's generally recommended that you have your first prenatal appointment between 8-12 weeks, but that can be with a family doctor as the stuff they do is pretty routine (weigh you, bloodwork, guidelines for safety, etc.).

Source: I'm a first-time pregnant lady who is freaked out and started researching almost everything.

I think Jill and Derick are smart to buy good-quality new stuff. It's going to have to last through lots of babies so might as well start out with things that will last. They bought their house furniture from an auction with the "save the difference" mindset and they can put the difference they saved toward nice baby furniture. And having had so much second-hand stuff in her life Jill probably enjoys shopping for new things and wants her baby to have some new things.

Jilly Muffin and Derickdillard should be able to afford new baby furniture. They don't have to worry about paying rent or a mortgage since they were given a house when they got married. They also should be getting a share of TLC money and People magazine money although I wouldn't put it past Jimboob to say that he prayed about the money and God told him to keep it all for himself.

Why is Michelle always traveling and leaving the little ones behind? Why can't she ever stay home and take care of Josie herself? With all of their money and TLC connections, I don't understand why they couldn't have got on a plane that night. The way they casually strolled in with big smiles on their faces when they got home was odd.

Why does Jim Bob have any say in how the girls decorate their room? That is their space, not his. His input was ridiculous. He continues to treat Jana like a child. This is normal in Gothard training, the daughter remains under her father until marriage.

I was sad to hear that Jessa is already expecting. What does Ben do for a living? The TLC checks are not going on forever.

InVA said...

Martha Washington - I too live in the DC area (VA) and know that the midwife is out of the Old Town office.

My only concern is that traffic across the Wilson Bridge is very bad during rush hour and if they happen to raise the draw bridge during the day (don't know if they raise it anymore except at night).

So there is no guarantee that the midwife will make it to them over the bridge and into PG County in time.

That said, she does seem qualified. I think that a lot of the granola-y Old Town moms use Physicians and Midwives. :-)

InVA said...

One more thought about Josie's seizure and JB and M not returning home until tomorrow.

They were in Chicago, where you can pretty much get a flight when you want to any major hub.

The hiccup might have been that wherever they fly to in Arkansas might have a more limited flight schedule.

If that were the case, they should at least addressed the reason why they didn't return until the next day.

Was it because there wasn't a flight available or they didn't see fit to make it a priority, for whatever reason (that I can't imagine could be reasonable).

KK said...

It was mentioned that the film crew was filming some of the kids a few miles away when Josie started having a seizure and they called them for help. Why would they do that when they already called 911 and had paramedics there?
^^^^^^

Another thought on this one - Jana was freaked. The look on her face alone tells me it wasn't a re-enactment. That being said, perhaps Jana or one of the other older "children" called the film crew, as they are trusted (other) adults to them, perhaps more nurturing than their own parents at this point. Despite being "adults" in their early 20's, they are still young people dealing with a scary situation. mom and dad clearly weren't going to book it home so I could see why maybe they called.

Leigh Ann said...

I agree with KK about Jana looking for a trusted adult. The camera guy was obviously there but he was manning the camera. Jana was really freaked out and needed some support. She looked as glad to see Jim Bob and Michelle when they got home as Josie did. There are times when you need your parents whether you're five or 25 and Jana wouldn't have been in that position if they didn't leave her in charge so much. Obviously parents go out and leave older kids in charge but the Duggars seem to do it an awful lot and Josie still has special needs. Grandma Duggar was there but it's not her job, either.

True one can pretty much get a flight out of Chicago & into Littke Rock or Clinton airport it's a national airport so I guess Jim Bob & Michelle didn't believe the scenario with Josie was important. Just really stupid parenting or lack thereof.

Very disturbing that, from reading this blog, so far there've been at least two instances where a Duggarette has been in need of medical assistance (a male Duggarette fell off a stage or something) and now 'our youngest, precious gift, Josie' supposedly seizes and the first consideration seems to be documentation of the event for public consumption and TLC ratings.

Yet they Duggar-0n, wearing their the whole holier than thou Easter bonnet as they both continue efforts to legislate the entire country in alignment with THEIR specific religious whims, and simultaneously whine about 'the war against (THEIR) religious freedom'.

My daughter had seizures starting at 12 yr old. She's 21 now and had a pre-seizure at the ER when she had a flu-bug. I was up there with her. I was just as upset about it as when she was young!
I just don't understand how sister Jana could be so upset (although I would be) but the mother acted like it was nothing.

Did anyone catch that Michelle pretty much invited herself (in my opinion) to go pick out baby furniture with Jill?
Jill says she was happy her mom was able to go but sometimes I wonder if the older girls just tolerate Michelles overbearing especially when it comes to pregnancy and infants.

Did they already forget that? Or the writers of the show aren't keeping up.

RE: Tracy's comment about Josie's seizure. Was that an error when you mentioned that you don't understand how a sister (Jana) could be so upset? Jana had the complete responsibility for Josie. She was there in place of Josie's mother. If she hadn't acted in a quick & efficient manner, Josie could have died or at the very least had some severe residual effects from the seizure. Nobody has heard a word about the results of the CT scan of Josie's brain that the DR felt was necessary. This isn't the first time this has happened to Josie when Jana was left to care for her. She certainly takes this responsibility seriously, & thank God for Josie that she does. Anyone, who was in charge of a child who is seizure prone, regardless of whether it was a sister or babysitter, would be just as frightened as Jana was. If you had another daughter, don't you think she would be just as upset as Jana was, if she was in charge of her sister who was having a seizure & you were nowhere to be found? I think Jana did well & probably lost her composure when she finally had some skilled medical help there in the kitchen by way of the para medics. But to say "why was Jana so upset?" I don't understand that at all. Josie looked like there was even possibility that she might not survive that seizure. It was all on Jana's shoulders. Poor Jana, she not only gets no praise but she gets criticism.
Now Michelle acting like it was nothing, that's a whole different story that nobody seems to understand. One of the 1st seizure Josie had after coming home, Michelle was there, but Jill had to handle the entire situation. She told the 911 operator that Josie was a micro premie, what Josie's oxygen saturation levels were & all the other pertinent information. Jill told the 911 operator that her mom was doing skin-to-skin to try & warm Josie up. They asked if the baby was blue & Michelle was screaming in the background; "lights on, lights on." Jill actually said "my mom doesn't know what to do."

Katie's mom: Tracy said she didn't understand how Jana was so upset while Michelle was so calm. It was a question of Michelle's calmness, not Jana's upsetness. Maybe not the best-worded sentence, but I see what she's getting at.

Same with whatever kid fell in the hole at the church. There's being calm in an emergency and then there's not caring and Michelle seems to come off as not caring. She doesn't handle the emergencies even when she's there. some people get so rattled during an emergency that they really are useless but Michelle doesn't fall into that category, either.

It was pretty obvious from the footage shown of Josie that they didn't start filming until after the seizure already happened...they called Scott over to help, not to film. There's no way that was a reenactment. They'd have to be actual actors to pull that off. As for Jim Bob and Michelle not being there, how could they predict that Josie was going to have a seizure? It is strange to me that they didn't seem to be in a rush to get home but I don't fault them for being gone.

Mama Bear said...

"Why is Michelle always traveling and leaving the little ones behind? Why can't she ever stay home and take care of Josie herself?"
If Michelle was a career woman traveling for business, would everyone still complain about her not being there? Lots of people travel frequently in their line of work. I would agree that it is suspect that they didn't immediately get on a flight home. I'm a mom and I would have been beside myself if something like that had happened while I was away! But for Pete's sake, you can be a good mom and occasionally take time away. It's actually rather feminist of her, though she'd be loathe to admit it.

Not to defend Jim Bob (and speaking as a parent of a teen girl), I had a VERY difficult time painting over the princess pink walls and rose mural I painted for my daughter when she was a little one. It was the last vestige of her childhood I had left. HOWEVER my motives for feeling that way are COMPLETELY different from JB's. I have no desire to control my daughter until she is married (and beyond). I just don't want to let go of her childhood. For JB it's all about control. Seeing the girls grow up and mature and prepare for marriage means his cult-within-a-cult is shrinking. While his kids surely will have PLENTY of children themselves, he will not have direct control over them. And this HAS to bug him. So losing the look of the girls' room is an outward sign of his losing control, IMHO.

RE: Mama Bear's comments on 5/21 @4:06am, which I just read.
We don't know how Michelle would have handled the emergency with Josie as she wasn't there. I think Jana did a wonderful job & she was entitled to a little "melt down," when it was over & she had skilled medical help there. This is not a mom who occasionally takes time away. Michelle is frequently traveling to protest abortion or align herself with political candidates, or just some alone time with her wonderful husband. If you have 19 kids you are responsible for them, up to a certain age, especially when one has health issues. Michelle & Jim Bob have both admitted that Josie is subjected to seizures. But how many time have we heard Jim Bob toss out the line, "Jana will watch the little ones, won't you Jana," as he & Michelle are closing the door behind themselves & leaving. Referring to Michele as a feminist is more than laughable. JMHO
