I see they've managed to stretch this "vse" out to 2 hours...yawn...human woman gives birth...yawn..something millions of women have also done... its just the same old thing now but with different family members (Jill Anna and now Jessa) TheTLC gravy train might still be running along for the Duggars but its just getting repetetive and boring for viewers.

This will be all about the education of Jill on the "joys" of childbirth. I hope she gets an obstetrician for next time and sticks with him/her throughout her pregnancies. I hope she learns that epidurals are a good thing. I hope she learns that smart women know how to enjoy sex without getting pregnant.

Autumn Leaves said...

Ok so as we all know & according to the Duggars, they are the only women on the planet who've given birth. What a farce. With each episode, the Duggars become more & more disingenuous & absurd. Also laughable.

Jill L said...

Not sure how I missed this, but I just read on People.com that after her water broke, Jill went to the chiropractor and then she and Derrrick went to go have pedicures! Wonder if that will be featured Tuesday night?

why does michelle and jim bod feel they should have jose give a old crib that was used by four other kids to jill. no one gave jill a new crib? seems strange they registered for so much stuff and no one could afford to give her a nice new crib. what was the whole point of her going to that shop. did she buy one when she was there or was that just for the show? they are confusing? they are running out of stories.

Leigh Ann said...

I hope she bought that beautiful crib they were looking at. Even if TLC ended up actually buying it for them. With all the babies Jill is planning on having a good crib will be an investment. And I have an idea that Jill has had it with hand-me-downs and second-hand stuff. And Derick may have some opinions on what he wants for his baby, too. I'm sure they'll show the baby's room and hopefully they didn't borrow furniture, set it up for the show and then return it.

Susie, come on Jill & smart in the same sentence. Not happening. I mean the girl can't even dress herself age sppropriately or with any sense of style. Re dressing appropriately, Anna right up there.

I read the article in People about going to a chiropractor and then getting pedicures - after her water had broken. This just seems dangerous to me... my midwife (yes, I had a midwife) told me that I was at a higher risk for infection after my water had broken.

I should think that Jill, as a student midwife, would know what behaviors to do and not do after the water has broken. Going to see your doctor/midwife should be high on the list of things to do!

Just my thoughts said...

Jill shopping-she said she bought a rug, chair and bedding for crib-she did not buy a crib. When they decided to give the crib to Jill, did they know that Jessa was pregnant? Just like the house. I think the fairest thing to do was to sell the crib and give Jill and Jessa each half the money to go to buying a crib.

I had studied up on childbirth bf I had mine,and I ran,I do mean ran,to the hospital as soon as my water broke.I wanted to be checked to make sure the cord hadn't prolapsed and cut off my baby's oxygen supply.
I also accepted induction after awhile,when it was clear the contractions had slowed.I held my daughter about 24 hours after that.I can't help but wonder if things would have gone better for Jill if she'd listened to sound medical advice in the first place.She was said to have refused induction.And 48 hours at home is way too long to go with your water broken.Just a thought.

At the DR's office today I was reading a couple of back issues of People. Jill say's she had tested positive for Strep B & was on IV antibiotics at home, before she went for the pedicure or to the chiropractor. She stated that they were IV meds. Who administered these IV meds as she say's only Derick, Michelle, Jana & a friend that was a student midwife in training with her were with her while she was at home . Yet that's where she had the IV antibiotics. The student midwife would never be able to administer an IV so who did it Jill?

Over It said...

Re: Jill's comment. I'm not sure how you missed the part bout the pedicure & chiropractor. That's all everyone was taking about. Basically how foolish it was of her. Oh they also went for a 2 hour walk to help start labor.

Annabelle said...

I would just like to repeat that nobody will know anymore about the birth of the baby after the "birth episode," than they already do. Be prepared for many talking head moments with Michelle reliving each & every birth experience Think I'll put the 2 hours to good use &clean my closets

Bree said...

Yes going to the doctor would be high my priority list as well. The fact she wanted a HOME birth really makes no sense why she would be out running around doing all these things that could have taken place well BEFORE her water had broken. I have never heard of such nonsense.

Leigh Ann, Because Jim Bob owns the home where Jill & Derick live, they are still controlled & at the mercy of Jim Bob as are Jessa & Ben. There's no escaping the insanity & narcissism of creepy Jim Bob.

Will Jimboob mention to Mullet again that Jillymuffin managed to get pregnant quicker aftet marriage than she did? They must think Jessaseewald is a slacker since it took her a few months. Will Jilly muffin explain why she felt the need to wear a headband with her name on it? Maybe she wore it so no one would confuse her with Mullet. I don't know why they continue filmimg filming when they go running to People magazine wih any news about themselves.

Rob said...

Pumpkin Pie made the comment "I should think that Jill, as a student midwife, would know what behaviors to do and not do after the water has broken". This is why I seriously doubt Jill has had proper Midwife training. And by that I mean one oriented in a solid nursing program like the credentials Anna's current Midwife holds. Her actions belie any professional expertise she's claimed so far. Yet I can't help but think now that she is a mom her service days as a "midwife" are over as that is real work and Duggar women DO NOT work outside the home.

Boo's Mom said...

So in the vid on the 19KAC facebook page, it showed her at home at 36 hrs (in labor) and Jill, according to the people article was in labor for 70 hrs. Logically, how could the hospital let you go another 40+ after your water broke? :/ And how long did they wait to find out he flipped to the transverse position? If you arrive at the hospital over 24 hr after rupture, dont they check babys position right away? Not judging at all, just curious.

Nicole said...

Yes, Anna's new midwife is a CNM, meaning she has masters degree in nursing with specialty midwife training. Jill WAS training to be a lay midwife. Vastly different on many levels!

Leigh Ann said...

You don't even have to be a trained childbirth professional to know you don't go get your nails done after your water breaks. They teach you that much in childbirth class.

Olivia said...

Wow Jill & Jessa no time getting to really know their spouses before BAM pregnant & Jill a honeymoon baby. At least Jessa waited a few months. I really had well now I guess it was false hope that Jessa would be the one to step it up & not get pregnant right away. The Duggar parents still controlling these married couples because they own their homes & I am sure Jim Bob holds this reality over their heads. Just hope & soon 19 Kids is cancelled.

JenTru said...

In response to the disbelief of the IV antibiotics being administered by a student midwife or other person: when my daughter was undergoing chemo for her brain tumor I administered IV antibiotics at home and I have no formal medical training. A doctor or nurse practitioner would have to order the meds an likely some sort of professional started the IV access point but the drugs themselves can be done at home without much training.

Poor Marjorie now in a courtship with Josiah. Marjorie should take a step back & really look at the Duggars objectively or logically. Jim Bob probably has these two married & soon. At age 17, Marjorie is too young to become a Mother. Marjorie has many talents. If she marrys Josiah Jim Bob & Michelle will be sure to destroy any ambitions for a career that Marjorie may have just as they've done with their daughters. That is ABUSE, Stupid & just really Mean! Marjorie needs to run & get the heck out of Dodge.

Hey wouldn't it be great if collectively many viewers got together to boycott the 19 Kids program. The ratings would plummet & eventually TLC would remove them & hopefully replace with a program that's interesting & one in which viewers would challenge their brains.

RE: Hello's comment. I don't think it had anything to do with Jill getting pregnant so soon after her marriage, as apparently Michelle & Jim Bob when they were first married didn't want kids for awhile. I always thought that Michelle was on the pill until they decided to have Josh. Then she went back on the pill & that's when she had the miscarriage that they attribute to the pill. Then they had as many as quickly as possible. Guess they threw away the pill.

Mandy said...

I agree with sandi going to the hospital as soon as her water broke. It's always better to be safer than sorry. The Duggar/Dillards don't have an ounce of common sense when it comes to safety on any level . I don't care if it's the birth of a baby or those kids running up & down the staircase carrying one of their baby sisters. They are just plain ignorant. They truly are the epitomy of "hicks."

Jennifer said...

I'm sorry but Jim Bob sees that has a true house contract! ! He makes them pay late fees if they are late. Etc etc. He does it this way to help them understand how it is when you rent out there. Basically if you are not renting to own, look at the money you are throwing down the drain by renting. (Not saying renting is bad, we all have to sometimes to get to other places in life)
It's not to control, if it was josh would not have had a t.v. nor cable. Derrick would not have his t.v.'s to watch his OSU games. Derrick has lived a lifetime compared to jill. He was pistol Pete for OSU when my brother played football for them. And I guarantee baby dillard will be a future Pistol Pete.

-----

How meds were administered to Jill really isn't a mystery or a controversy. It is rather common these days to have a picc line inserted. Derek would have been taught how to hook up her meds. This is done so that a person can go home and still receive the needed treatment. My mom had a picc line when she got an infection after a knee replacement.

What is more concerning is that she went for a pedicure. A pedicure exposed Jill to an entire buffet of germs. She was already getting antibiotics for an infection, she should not have been sticking her tootsies in a foot bath that probably had traces of prior clients.

I have seen the clip of Jimbob's quicker than you mama comment several times. Each time I think to myself WHY? Why did he feel that comment was needed? They both have been up front with the information that at the beginning of their marriage they DID use birth control. It was not until Michelle got preggers on the pill and lost the baby that they decided to leave it in Gods hands.

Buttercup said...

RE: Gidget Gadgets comments I know people go home with IV's my best friend did, but Jill supposedly had these IV before she ever set foot near a hospital, midwife or any medical personal. Absolutely Derick could administer the meds after the line was in. Wasn't your mom in the hospital or rehab facility when they put the picc line in? Or perhaps the visiting nurse put the line in for your mom. After that when she went home anyone in your family could have been taught how to do the meds. I'm questioning who put the picc line in, as Jill is saying she had IV's before she ever went to the hospital & no professional at her home to insert a picc line if it was just, Michelle, Jana & a student midwife - friend

Wampascat said...

The Duggars are showing us the Gothard (right) way to have babies. Because, we heathens are doing it all wrong and going to hell.

Mandy said...

Gidget Gadgets remarks about Derick being able to handle the IV meds is true. However I think Buttercup was asking who put the "picc line," in? I read the people article & Jill says she had the IV antibiotics in before she ever went to the hospital. If your mom was recovering from an infection, I would think she had seen a DR or maybe was just being released from the hospital or a rehabilitation center. Jill is saying she had IV's in but has said she didn't see any medical people until she went to the hospital. I think the question was who put them in, if she had no medical care until she decided to go to the hospital.

sandi said...

Jessa didn't wait several months to get pregnant.She just waited awhile to announce it.If my math is correct,she got pregnant about 2 1/2 months afer getting married.Anna got pregnant about 4 months after marriage,so Jessa got pregnant quicker.Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Leigh Ann said...

Whoever diagnosed the strep to begin with would have put the PICC line in. When she said she didn't see any medical people until she went to the hospital maybe she was talking about a doctor as opposed to a midwife. They don't even test for GBS until like 37 weeks and she was seeing a midwife before then, surely.

I just can't stand this another minute!! Its the Michelle baby voice show all over again. Just like last night. Its not even about Jill very much. Its been mostly Michelle and now they are re-doing the births of Josie and Jubilee again!! I'm sooo done with this show. They can't even let Jill have this one. Its down to 40 minutes left and Jill hasn't even gone into labor yet. This is ridiculous. I'm not watching anymore Michelle, ever again!! Advice, advice, advice from Jim Bob, Michelle and the M family. Yuk.

They did show a little of the Derick Pistol Pete occasion. Derick said both of his parents went to OSU also. He said they will let their kids go to college if they want, but guess what.. I don't believe him!! Jill and JB will over-rule him in the long run.

Okay I caved and watched the last hour of the special not realizing it was actually on for 2-hours. So question - why is it we have to hear about Michelle's births and miscarriage of Jubilee I mean I thought that has already been discussed over and over again by all the Duggars. It reminded me that no matter what those kids do - JimBob and Micky are going to always have the spotlight. Also I loved Derrick's birthday party and the gifts his mom gave. So precious. My husband died 8-months before my son's wedding and now that I'm a grandma - we miss him every day. He is not here to enjoy his first grandchild. That was very special of Derrick's mom to do that for him. I feel bad for those 19-kids they are a hot mess.

Dee said...

Hmmm, I didn't know that Jill had gone to the chiropractor and also went for her pedicure after her water broke. The way they edited the show it appeared that happened way before she went into labor.
I did notice that Jim Bob managed to get in a couple of 'We're trying but nothing is happening' digs at Michelle, even going so far as to say, "Not sure if it's my plumbing or hers".
How rude. A part of me wishes Michelle would snap and unleash holy terror on him.
I wonder how he'd like to pay child support on all the kids under 18?

Did the timeline of the birth get switched around for the special? Wasn't the pedicure happen after the water broke and not before? The whole special was completely distorted.

Katieks said...

Well that's two hours of my life I'll never get back....

Lesleigh said...

Gotta disagree about the pedicures being a bad idea. I am a retired L&D nurse, and when her water broke, she had literally HOURS of labor before any real action was going to happen. She is a primip (first baby), and those labors are notoriously long. Although it wasn't shown, she probably had her cervix checked to make sure her cord had not prolapsed and head engaged.

If both of those things were true, there would be NO reason why she couldn't go get that pedicure! It might have relaxed her a bit.....

As for the Group Beta Strep, as long as the mommy gets at least ONE dose of Ampicillin 2gm, by 2 hours before delivery, the baby should be fine....the Ampicillin doses usually continue every 2 hours, for 4 more doses. (at least in my state).

Cindy said...

Jill says that Johannah should be able to completely take care of the baby.Really? Hannie is still a little girl! I see a cycle going on here. The younger girls raising the older girls' children. Those poor girls.

I am probably in the minority, but I like Josh. He's a much better husband and father than JimBob.

cat said...

So instead of calling it Jill's special delivery, it should be called Michelle's special deliveries, cant she just for one moment let her daughter be in the spotlight? Nobody cares about their birth stories, they showed that boring show last night! The part when Michelle was teaching the little girls about caring for a baby was just weird, especially when Josie started to nurse the dolll, i wonder if michelle carries that doll around?

Lesleigh said...

Sorry, but the PICC line would HAVE to have been inserted in the hospital. PICC stands for peripherally inserted central catheter. It is placed in a large vein in the underside of the upper arm. (normally). After placement, it requires a fluoroscopic exam to confirm it is in the right place. The tip of this catheter rests just inside the heart, and an XRAY is essential. After that, anyone can hang a bag of Ampicillin!

Katieks said...

Did anyone notice Michelle referred to her children as "prizes?" Crazy Town!!!

Nicole said...

Apparently it is the procedure for this type of event in Arkansas for a visiting nurse to come administer the one time dose of antibiotics. She would not have had a PICC line for that. And she wasn't discharged home on IV antibiotics, either.

Nicole said...

Visiting nurse ran the antibiotics. One time dose. No PICC line needed.

Nicole said...

Jill did not have a PICC line! Visiting nurses come and give the antibiotic. That's the IV tubing we saw in the photo on her bed. Except it was from before the birth, not after, like it read.

Kaulen said...

Did Michelle compare Jill's lay-midwifery apprenticeship to being a Doctor or Nurse?? Wow, they are in LaLa land. I don't think her education of the dining room table and not having a practicing license qualifies Jill as in the medical profession.

Big THANK YOU to everyone who had commented so far. I won't be purchasing this this episode on iTunes. I love L&D stories / TV shows but this one was apparently an entire waste of 2 hours. Thanks Friends! As to the PICC line and antibiotic . . . we can't believe anything the Duggar's say. For all we know Jill could of had a OB at her home and not present on camera. When labor didn't go anyway the OB said, you need to get to the hospital for a c-section. The Duggar's know that a dead baby would be very, very bad for their reputation, but to back away from a homebirth would also hurt their reputation. We really have no idea.

Anybody notice how good looking Jill's doctor was at the hospital? Wow, he was a hottie! Did anyone notice Jessa trying to hide behind her younger siblings when Derrick and Jill arrived at the house to show the baby off, a few times one of the kids moved over enough that you could see Jessa's belly. i wonder if she really is having twins?

Susie said...

I was disgusted with Moochelle teaching the future obedient brood mares, how to hold and care for an infant. When Josie put the doll under her shirt and then threw a rag over herself, I switched the channel.

Jim BOOB's comment while delivering the crib to Jill and Derrick was completely unacceptable: "I don't know it it's my plumbing or Mama's but we don't need the crib." Really?!? Does everything have to be about them and their ability/inability to conceive? Just give your child a crib and be done with it!

Judy said...

I was impressed with Jill. Though they didn't show much of her labor, it really does seem like she went through a lot and did everything she could to have a vaginal delivery while still maintaining a safe environment for the baby. (Plus the doctor who did the c-section was VERY cute! :) When Derick said, "Can we have another?" when they stopped by the Duggars on their way to bringing the baby home, I was thinking, "That is the last thing you want to say right now, Buddy!"

Judy said...

I cringed when I saw all those little kids up at midnight while they waited for Jill to have the baby. They should have all been to bed hours before that. This family spends so much time living out of the ordinary days that I don't know how anything ever gets accomplished, least of all school lessons!

Ericka said...

Jill better hope she can deliver the next one naturally. I'm pretty sure most doctors recommend only having 3 C-sections. Of course I don't think that would stop her. From what I've read Derick was a huge baby just like Israel. Hopefully not all their kids will be his size and she can give birth naturally. I also find it really annoying she says shes a midwife when she's not really. Shes not certified or going to school. She's just a lay midwife. Theres a big difference. It's really sad that the kids are not allowed careers. people defend the duggars by saying Jill is a midwife or that John David works for the fire department. He is just a volunteer. I know he runs the tow buisness but im sure Jim Bob gave him that. They wouldn't be anywhere without TLC and they make it look like they can handle having 20ish kids. TLC paid for most of their house and god knows what else. They must be making millions but even then I don't know if it will be enough to give each kid a house and all that since they basically make their children dependent on them because they have no education or skills to make money themselves. Josh would never have gotten his job in DC without his connections.
Gosh, its just so pathetic how badly those girls want to get pregnant they literally have nothing else to do.

A few observations after watching "Jill's Special Delivery":
1) Jill, for the love of Pete, PLEASE expunge the word "like" from your vocabulary. Your excessive, improper use of that word makes you sound like a middle schooler. 1) Michelle, please stop with the baby talk to Josie. You're not doing her any favors in the language development department. 3) Jill: "I have to remind myself I'm not the midwife here (during Israel's labor and delivery)." You never were the midwife, sweetie, you were just a student lay midwife at best. 4) About 15 minutes of the 2-hour episode were devoted to Jill's labor and delivery. I for one feel short-changed. A better title for Tuesday night's show might have been "A Whole Lot of Nothing Before Jill's Special Delivery." Anna's labor and delivery with Marcus got more screen time during the "Decade of Duggar Births" special than Jill's labor and delivery did on an episode supposedly devoted to the event. C'mon, TLC, how about a little truth in advertising? 5) Good grief! How many extra people were crammed into that OR room during Jill's C-section?

RedHanded Jill said...

Quote from Michelle: "I've heard it said that nurses and doctors know way more about...all kinds of things that could happen, and Jill's kind of in that boat!"

Are you kidding me, Michelle? First of all, what kind of common knowledge is that? Nurses and doctors know a lot about all kinds of things? Medically, I guess? But to lump Jill in with nurses and doctors when she's a lay midwife's apprentice is just ridiculous!

Leigh Ann said...

"And she wasn't discharged home on IV antibiotics, either. "

I wondered about that. Once the baby is born, there's no need for the antibiotics. There was a photo of Jill in bed at home with the baby and a tube hanging on the bed post that looked liked it might have been an IV tube. But I suppose it could have been a lamp cord, too.

Dar said...

When oh when are these people going to stop exploiting Josie and the 2 oz miscarriage. I do feel for someone who has had a miscarriage, but this is really overboard. Michelle has the nerve to cry over that poor unfortunate and completely ignores the little girls who are almost in her face looking for attention. That show was supposed to be about Jill, but we had to see all that emoting from Michelle. The children in this family must think that everyone talks about babies, babies, babies. The actual children are insignificant, the babies and the number of babies are most important. What sick, sick people. I thinnk Meeshelle is the sickest and JimBoob is a close second.

Jill L said...

This is what it comes down to: JimBob has raised those kids based on his opinion that he knows better than everyone else. I think he has problems with authority (ride along episode) and has, by example, shown the kids that outside opinion and expertise is not necessary.

This is Jill. She took some midwife classes and assisted in some births. Abracadabra, she is now the all seeing and knowing childbirth expert, right down to practically smothering her child in a sling!

Are they setting the example of humility? No, they are pious. That's a sin.

Ironic that Jill's now considered an ex- midwife apprentice snce she lost her certification just days after Ixzy was born. Without that certificate she cannot apprentice so maybe that is why she says she won't be doing it while she is raising her family....and if she is going to have 19 she will be giving birth for about the next 25 years, which means if she raises them until the youngest born is about 20 she won't even attempt to regain an apprentice certificate until 40 years from now. I don't think she ever will.

In case anyone is wondering what happened to get her certificate pulled...,,

My 2 yr old daughter would pretend to nurse her baby doll because she saw how her baby brother was being fed. I see nothing wrong with that. BUT these girls are being groomed to be nothing but mothers and caretakers of their siblings and nieces and nephews, that's just wrong and sad.

The Duggars would faint hearing my now almost 7 yr old declare she wants to be a pilot and *gasp* doesn't want kids.
Girls should be encouraged to reach for their dreams, parents shouldn't squash them.

What happened to Jill's midwives? She went to the woman's house a few episodes back. They gave the 2 midwives a tour of their house, and then, POOF, no midwives to be seen. The delivery story/episode was so disjointed it made no sense. The person who posted that we would not know any more after the episode than we did before was correct. I am through with the Duggars/TLC because they just cannot be honest about much of anything. They are slapping their fans in the face with all this phony crap... and all the thousands of re-runs instead of something new and different.

When the Michelle and the Duggar girls were getting into the car to go to the hospital, Michelle was explaining what was going on as she drove, which was fine but had this very stern/serious look on her face. It reminded me of how stern she looked when they were driving Anna to the birth center for the delivery of Marcus. So my question is this: does Michelle look stern because she's trying to control her stress/emotions at the moment or is she just that angry that she's no longer the queen of babies and birthing? She seems very upset in general about her child bearing years being done...just my thought/opinion.

There were some things that really set my teeth on edge but since I've seen it done by both secular and Christian, small and large families plus no one here commented on it, I guess it's my own personal standards. I thought the advice to Jill and Derrick was great. i think some people must have only watched the second hour because of the 88 minutes, there was only about 12 minutes devoted to Josie and Jubilee. As for whether or not Israel will go to college, given how Jim Bob has proven wrong the old posts that declared "as soon as each daughter is of age, they'll be married off" I highly doubt he'll prevent Israel from going to OSU. I was amazed the doctor didn't want to hurry things along with the appearance of meconimum. I'm glad things are changing and if it's light meconimum, they don't panic. I'm glad Josh prayed the way he did. It makes it easier to explain that Christians believe God blesses different people with different abilities and doctors are of God. As for the headband, it's something long haired women are doing. I noticed one of Israel's great aunts was at the Duggar house when they stopped on their way to the Dillard house.

Some observations on this episode, Jill and Derrick's recent Instagrams, and the Duggar family and pregnancy in general..

1) Are we now going to hear about each pregnancy, each gender reveal, each birth into perpetuity?

Just today both Jill and Derrick posted Instagram photos of Israel's first MONTH picture. So here we go again...another countdown, like Jill's pregnancy ones. I'm surprised baby Izzy wasn't holding a chalkboard!
2) Jessa is now counting down!
3)Why wasn't Michelle at Jill's baby shower?
4) Please let us ban Jill from saying "so, yeah" in the middle or at the end of her sentences.
5) Jill supposedly was giving advice to PRINCESS CATHERINE (!!!) about "late babies." To be fair, that was the magazine headline, not exactly what Jill said. But is she now being looked to for "I'm waaay overdue, and going for a pedicure" advice?
6) It was fun to see the pix of Derrick as Pistol Pete, and especially interesting to see pictures of him when he was in college. He looked incredibly different and handsome then! No scruffy facial hair, a full head of hair etc. Both Derrick and his brother's looks now could be more described as Jim Carrey-ish, and make Derrick look much more like a hick than I think he really is. Both his parents are college grads, as well.
7) It so ironic that the older Duggars are now SO involved with social media, yet seemingly were kept from what could have been a real learning experience using electronic devices when being homeschooled.
8) People mag this week featured Michelle's favorite things, like Handel's Water Music CD that "brings peace to our hearts and home, and a portable Bluetooth speaker that she uses "when I fix breakfast in the morning, and when I work out."

So, yeah.

Susie, not really sure why anyone should be disgusted with a mother showing her girls how to take care of an infant. Most women are going to have a least one child. It's natural, that's how we're made!
As for Josie putting th doll under her shirt to nurse it, it's also natural for little children to imitate their parents. When I had one of my babies, our then 2 year old BOY tried to "nurse" a doll!! Lol. It was so cute!

RE: what happened to Jill's midwives?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although the Duggars are trying to keep it quiet, it is being reported that:
Jill Duggar Dillard is actually an EX midwife apprentice!
Venessa Giron, with whom Jill apprenticed,lost her license in AR. Thus, her apprentices lost their certification, which had originally been good until August 2015.
Confirmed here: http://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/programsServices/familyHealth/WomensHealth/Documents/LicensedMidwifeApprentices.pdf
While many were surprised that Jill Duggar Dillard went to a chiropractor after she began labor....Did you know that Venessa Giron is a chiropractic assistant!!! .http://www.rogerschiropracticclinic.com/venessa Some wonder if Jill Duggar Dillard might have been seeing Venessa Giron secretly as her midwife because she wanted to avoid the bad publicity of a seeing a midwife who was being investigated for negligence.
Notice that the only people mentioned as being with Jill were Rachel Goad (student midwife), Michelle, and Jana. (Did Rachel Goad lose her certification also? Like Jill Duggar Dillard and Jana Duggar, she, too, isn't listed as being certified anymore.
Anybody notice how good looking Jill's doctor was at the hospital? Wow, he was a hottie!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jill's doctor, once admitted, was Dr. Chad Hill who was involved in a love triangle that brought the police to the hospital parking lot http://hl.nwaonline.com/news/2015/jan/25/siloam-springs-woman-arrested-on-assaul/?print

Some have stated that Dr. Chad Hill worked with Venessa Giron (the midwife Jill was apprenticing with and who lost her license).

Some question if this is why Jill went to a hospital far away without a good NICU (after seeing meconium), since she may have already had a connection with Dr. Hill, via Venessa.

The one thing that really bugged me was that a baby that large flipped transverse during labor after being head down. Many of us commented on how the baby appeared to be transverse and high in the days before she went into labor. I don't think that the baby was ever head down. I had 2 of my pregnancies transverse and high up until days before I was induced. First of all I am very tall with good birthing hips but let me tell you I felt both kids flip to head down and they felt engaged. After baby was head down I was told it isn't common that they will flip because that is their only comfie position. I don't get how with a body as small as Jill's and a baby as big as that was able to flip during labor. It seemed like she didn't want to admit that he wasn't head down and she used on of Michelle's reasons for a c section.

Because Jim Bob and Michelle only buy new things for themselves. The kids just get endless hand-me-downs to teach them to "buy used and save the difference"

To be honest we only got twenty minutes of Jill's Special Delivery; The rest was with all the other Duggars!!!And that was a waste of time. I wanted to see more of Jill and Derrick and the baby. And did anyone catch Derrick say he wants more children right away and Jill goes Oh Yes!! What Kool-Aid is she drinking!!! That 9 pound 10 ounces Baby almost took her out!!! Jill needs to slow down. Jill is not going to be able to crank babies out like her mother.

The reason there was no moan or scream from Jill during the delivery was the same reason what the whole boring episode barely had the birth in it.....because it was heavy edited. What we saw was probably the few minutes that she wasn't screaming.

Melissa said...

Good point Wednesday about the baby probably not being able to flip and was probably already transverse/breech the whole time. Jill really is fortunate. I still don't really believe the whole 70 hours of labor, but I wonder if Jill felt like she had to suffer that long to prove she needed a c-section? Michelle has mentioned countless times in interviews that natural is best due to quick healing, and I think she has some resentment (even subconsciously)about the c-section with Jana and John. Which we all get that natural is better if possible, but this whole Gothard thing about how c-sections are evil is just ridiculous. I truly hope it takes Jill awhile to get pregnant again. Unfortunately, it seems that both Jill and Jess have inherited Michelle's extremely good fertility genes. I really hope they can find a way to space the babies out a bit. Even 2 years in between each kid instead of the 13-18 month gap that Michelle has between all her kids.

Never one to gloat but I stand by my original comment that nobody would know anymore about Jill's birth experience after the episode was shown than before it aired. Well I was proved right. Possible there may have been more information about some of Michelle's birth experiences shown if that was of interest to anyone.

Melissa said...

Maybe Jill only wanted the 14 minutes of actual labor to be shown and TLC honored her wishes? Who knows. I think it's weird that we really didn't see her showing any signs of pain. Again I am ok with that as I think it's ridiculous how they show Anna in such extreme pain. Sounds like a lot of editing or maybe TLC cameramen were not there for the entire "70 hours" of labor. I just still find it hard to believe that she was silly enough to go 70 hours after her water broke. I have always heard only 24 hours after water breaks and then baby has to come out to minimize risks and infection. It also looked like they taped the tea with Michelle and Jill on the same day as Derick's birthday party. It looked like Jill was in the same outfit. More proof of staging to me. The gift Derick's mom gave to him was awesome. Did you see how Jill grabbed the photo book from Derick and started looking at it right away? She sure has to be the center of attention no matter what. The comment Jim Bob made about how they were still trying to have more babies and "there must be something wrong with our plumbing" was absolutely ridiculous. And Jill just laughed! So he can only give side hugs to his daughters but he can make comments about his sex life to them. That's just plain weird! When are Michelle and Jim Bob going to face facts that they're almost 50 and they need to grow up and parent those youngest children who are being ignored and actually be doting grandparents!? They're constant comments about how they are still "trying" to conceive makes them appear conceited and vain like they are afraid to get old. Get over it already.

Of course I knew it wasn't the same Chad but it's funny to find out that's his name.

I so hope that Derick and Jill's children will go to an actual accredited college. If Derick is the "authority figure" hopefully he will assert that authority.

Otherwise, so annoyed at how at least three of the youngest Duggars used that crib but of course the focus was still on "Josie's crib".

Did anyone else think that they saw Marjorie sitting next to Derick's mom in the living room as Derick opened his birthday gifts?

midwest mom said...

I keep puzzling over the delivery episode and its everything-but-the-delivery content. Jill and Derrick filmed a promo for the episode right after Israel was born, so TLC was obligated to produce this episode. My guess is they had most of the show filmed before the baby was born. That accounts for all the filler (the search for Josie's crib, Derrick's birthday party, the visit by the midwives, etc.)we had to sit through before seeing 15 minutes' footage of the actual birth. Remember, Jill was way past her due date, so TLC didn't have much time to finish editing this episode.

Still, the whole labor and delivery did seem very abbreviated. I wonder if Jilly Muffin decided she didn't want to be shown in the undignified situations we saw Anna endure during her three births (think toilet birth). This is a departure for a Duggar woman--normally their 'modesty' is outweighed by the opportunity to glory in the unpleasant details of giving birth, which after all is their assigned purpose in life.

By the way, "70 hours of labor" is misleading. A woman is in latent labor until her contractions become regular and her cervix dilates to 4 centimeters. That stage can last a long time in a nulliparous woman; the next phase is active labor. Jill mentioned that her contractions slowed down and spaced out early on, and I suspect this represented the latent phase.

Finally, where on earth was the team of midwives? Jill seemed to be managing the decisions on her own (more heroics), deciding when it was time to go to the hospital, etc. A woman in hard labor isn't usually so composed. Then again, a woman who has just had a C-section doesn't usually tell the OBGYN to "stitch me up real good" so the next birth can be a VBAC. But this is Duggarland, after all.

Mellssa, Jim Bob's comment was worse than,"there must be something wrong with our plumbing." He actually said, " I don't know if there's something wrong with my plumbing or Mama's." Believe me If I had give a man 19 kids & heard a comment like that they would need to call the police.

Sydney said...

"Why do we have to have a gender reveal party? This is going to be a monthly event in Duggerville. Do we really need decorations, refreshments and a party to reveal the gender of the 35th child?"

I think really that's it's because they got nothing going on. No school, homework, no jobs (except like maybe 2 of them). They don't have a church, so they're not volunteering at the church. They are not volunteering at the school. There's just ... nothing. So they have to fill the time somehow.

I know people criticize Sierra but I really think she is desperate to have some kind of purpose outside of childrearing. She seems thrilled to have these organizing jobs and she is doing the best she can, without having had formal training. She seems way into it. If only a "real" education and job was in her reach, she seems she would be much happier and would probably really do well as an organizer.

I also feel bad for the kids. I just think of all the activities my two grade schoolers have, with scouting and music and posters and presentations, then chess club and science club and running club.... What if they just woke up every day and just stayed at home. Day in day out, nothing to look forward to until they're married. Just thinking that makes me feel depressed for those children.

I think Michelle would be content if Jim Bob would shut up about it. She's said several times about it being a new season of life with the kids growing up and getting married and having grandkids. Jim Bob is the one who can't wrap his head around that and as long as he's talking about more kids, Michelle is going to. Although I don't think I've heard her mention it lately other than to say she would welcome another one, which is different than saying you're working on one or wishing for one. Jim Bob just needs to wake up and realize that stage of life is over. Nothing wrong with either of them, it's just the natural progression of Michelle's biology.

I'm glad Israel was born without complications! I gritted my teeth when Jill just laid there in bed and talked about the meconium, and didn't feel the need to go have the baby checked out right away.

I had the same thing happen to me, it was just slight, and if I hadn't gone into the hospital my daughter wouldn't have survived because when they checked the heart rate it was already decelerating and I was rushed into emergency c section. They told me another 30 minutes at home my daughter wouldn't have made it.

I think it's important to go in and at least check when meconium shows up.

From what I can tell from pictures and other discussions, that picture on the bed was pre-delivery. It's the same exact outfit, down to the earrings, that she was wearing in her chalkboard shot. As for the antibiotics, a visiting nurse comes to administer them and that is why the IV tubing was in the pre birth photo.

No matter how many college degrees Derick or many husbands might have, when their wife has convinced them that she is a midwife, or at the very least near the end of her training & she see meconium or is have contractions after her water has broken & she doesn't think they should leave for the hospital, I can see that some men would think, well she knows what she's talking about when it comes to this baby's birth. Normally I don't support Derick but in this case I believe that Jill convinced him that she knew what she was doing, although clearly she didn't. After all Michele was saying Jill had as much knowledge as any DR or nurse would have due to her extensive traiing & being a 'Midwife." We constantly hear about how many babies she has "delivered." She may have been in the room with some of these moms but she didn't deliver the baby. I believe Jill definitely convinced Derick that she knew exactly what was happening with that labor when she didn't have a clue.She's extremely fortunate that both she & the baby survived. She did however, put herself in the position of needing an, "emergency C-section." She probably would have needed a C-section anyway but her actions caused it to be an emergency in the middle of the night.

Sydney, one of the most smart posts I've read about the Duggars. Well if you've read any material about CULTS then it's clear in Cultland that's the way things are done. Minimal homeschooling, constant Bible gatherings, extremely strict rules that consist of No & Don't. So sitting around doing nothing with too many limitations is what people do living in a Cult environment. Duggars are not permitted to watch TV, every video & Skype chat is monitored by Jim Bob & Michelke. All cell phone calls & text messages are monitored by JB & M. The older Duggar girls share a dorm like bedroom with their younger girl siblings. Currently there is 7 Duggar girls in a large bedroom. The same situation applies to the Duggar boys bedroom. Basically the older Duggar kids still living at home & in their 20's have ZERO privacy. According to CULT rules, kids live at home until marriage. The Duggar girls not permitted to attend college even a Christian college. The boys are permitted to attend a Christian college. Currently, Joseph Duggar is enrolled at Crown College within the state of Tennessee. Erin Bates-Paine is a grad of Crown College. CC is an extremely strict Baptust college. Basically the Gothard Cult Ruler based in Chicago rules minimize & objectify women. Gothard said the only purpose of a woman is to marry & continually procreate. The man is the authority figure over the woman. The woman is never to question any decisions made by the man. It's stupid & sick. If my husband were to exercise authority over me @ if I had to ask his permission for my every move, I would divorce his ass. I have a great career of which Prior I prepared earning a 4 year college degree. My heart cries for the Duggar girls they have no voice & no choice. It's very sad.

But you know she can't. That's what's so sad. She would probably get shunned if she did something like that. Even if not, the disapproval would be so thick from all males in her circle, that she may as well be shunned. It must be so depressing to have those (well, rudimentary) skills and the desire to accomplish something, and the best you get is some token jobs as planner for some family parties.

KatieP said...

Syndee, re Sierra. Thanks for your insight. I hadn't considered that Sierra wouldn't be permitted to pursue learning about event planning. Perhaps that's the reason she always displays & over the top attitude when planning events for families ? Perhaps that's the reason she's always too overly excited? Perhsps planning events for families provides some Release & Freedom for her? I suppose I've taken my freedom to choose when I want to have a child, to enjoy my career, to express my opinions, to not always be "sweet", frankly, friends who know me would never refer to me as sweet but rather kind, direct & giving there's a huge difference. I would never survive in a Fundie environment. Re Jana & Jinger Duggar.. I hope they find husbands that are not of the nature of Jim Bob or Josh but rather more open minded & RESPECTFUL of women. The Gothard Fundie Cult is all about DISRESPECT & Control of Women. Jim Bob & Josh truly project DISRESPECT of their Wives & Children. During the Duggars Love advice segment on Tues evening, I just laughed at the stupid advice Jim Bob, Josh, Derick & Ben provided. I thought these guys really believe they are convincing viewers to embrace their method of Courtship. They should know that the majority of viewers will never embrace the Fundie way of Life. I really believe especially Jim Bob & Josh have a few brain cells missing. They just always seem a bit off.

Olivia said...

The Fundie way of life is so oppressive & depressing for Women. Because women in this wretched cult are so brainwashed, they will never realize their lives are so limited. When someone continually hammers into ones brain to always "keep sweet", then ones true self & personality will never surface. Repressing ones true self & personality may one day bode serious consequences. There is nothing wrong if someone expresses anger. Every human at one time or another has experienced anger but not Michelle Duggar as her husband Jim Bob will remind her if she's in a situation where she's beginning to display anger. The Duggars are taught to repress every emotion except sweet & happy. These are traits of women involved in a Cult. I could go on but won't further bore you.

Yes! They are so fortunate everything turned out ok. Clearly she hadn't had proper prenatal care either because the baby was breech. A real doctor or good midwife would have recognized that long before. There's no way an almost ten pound baby turned breech during labor. No way. The ironic thing is, if she had chosen to induce earlier instead of going so far overdue, she might not have had to have a c-section, as the baby wouldn't have been so huge. They love to talk about the "cascade of interventions" but ignore legitimate reasons there might be for intervening.
