Sorry, I can't be impressed by hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for 50 people. I grew up spending Thanksgiving with my mother's family and 50 was a "small group" on Thanksgiving day. The typcial number was around 65. My aunt took beds down to set up tables in bedrooms, sun porches, everywhere. We all chipped in on the meal and it was a fabulous time. And we were never on television.
Have we seen the Vanderhoffs before? Do they have kids in the appropriate courtship age range for the Duggars?
When I first read they were having 50 people over for Thanksgiving Dinner, I thought they were talking about the Bates.
I can't believe they will have Josie who was very sick in Israel, around all this chaos and stress.
She looks so sick in the picture of the Dr. examining her, and you can hear Jim Bob saying, Josie was conjested. I can't believe him.
Why does he have to down play everything? Josie's health, the flip flops at disasters?
The Vanderhoffs were the family that stayed at the house while the Duggars went to Scotland, Ireland, England, and Israel.
Where is michael in this picture?
That's the old portrait pic from Summer 2010.
I read an article on the Vanderhoffs and it looks like they have 10 biological kids and a bunch of adopted kids from China, Russia and Central America to account for their total of 23. You could see 4 or 5 kids who don't look like what you would expect a Vanderhoffs to look like waving goodbye to the Duggars as they left for the trip.
The article I read was from 2005, when the family lived in New Jersey. I imagine that it got too expensive to live there, especially if they're paying whatever Christian organization they're dealing with to adopt all these kids.

Absolutely UNappetizing imagining the bio load of any food prepared at the Duggars', especially with THIS number of people.
Lax kitchen cleanliness we have seen so many times (kids including shoes and diapers permitted on counter tops), iffy handwashing technique and frequency, and all the respiratory/gi microbes sure to inhabit this HERD of people make a meal at the Duggars completely UNappealing. (And that's not even considering the usual uber-religious platitudes the Duggars can always be counted upon to provide ad nauseum.)
